makes the class fun!!! a good teacher and always fair
Shes tough, but fair and you can tell she enjoys her work.

Those damn pop quizzes screwed me! Don't make the same mistake. Attend every single class.
a wondersul professor who is so excited to be teaching. always has a smile on her face, and is very fair.
Very rigid with her syllabus. Don't miss online quizzes!
BORING!!! ended up with a B and did no work
very caring teacher, she was even helpful after I graduated
A+ Great Teacher, unfortunately held back due to fact that the dept does not give her support. She could shine if she was not held back by the dept head of RTV.
First time she's taught class - HORRIBLE!Took her for 3000 got an A - but im struggling this semester.NO study guides, little or no pwrpoints, not clear at all.Can never tell what she wants. Maybe she'll get better as she teaches the class more.... right.
very boring unless ur an rtv major. a lot of info about the business thats just too technical and boring. lectures r boring. do the study guides and youll do decent on the exams. pulled off a B somehow
this maybe the most worst professor I have ever had. She belittled me and made me feel un-important as a student and as a person. She actually told me that I couldn't succeed in Broadcast Journalism - what an encouraging professor. DON'T TAKE HER!!!!
She doesn't know what she's teaching and often gets students to explain things to the class b/c she has no clue as to what's going on. She is screwing me and others on grades. Test Qs are not from notes OR text--WORST INSTRUCTOR EVER!!
Her tests are nearly impossible and her lectures are very boring. Her test questions can come from anywhere and it's impossible to prepare for them.

Worst teacher ever! Can't teach, can't explain anything. She treats us like high school students. Tests are very hard. Her review is pretty much know everything i said and everything in the book. she SUCKS. DON'T TAKE HER!!!!
She's evil. I'm an A student and am struggling to get a "C" in this class. Class lectures are interesting, but irrelevant to test material. Gave a pop quiz the night of the Marshall game: she's out to screw students over. Don't take her!
tests are really hard! Be careful with class assignemnt collections. she is tricky... But she gives some extra credit.
This class is probably great if you're an RTV major who is of the liberal political persuasion. On top of her class being really hard due to the fact that she doesn't teach the material, she also uses the class as a "soapbox" for her political b

horrible teacher!! exams are ridiculously difficult b/c there are no reviews and tons of information on them. lectures are so boring and a total waste of time!
This lady and I did not get along. She made us buy a book that I never used and her tests were ridiculous and impossible to study for!! She may be better in other RTV classes, but I do not reccomend her for this one!!
just because she adds things that are not straight from the text, does not make her a bad teacher. Ill admit she was a little disorganized with some thing, but I enjoyed her. People need to realize they are in college and wont be spoon-fed everything
Everyone is complaining about Mills, but I thought her class was great. She doesn't do the ordinary "follow my ppoint slides" boring regurgitation of info. This is COLLEGE, read the book, do the homework...I got an A...you can too.
She's kind of flighty and hard to understand. I didn't love her class, but it's not the worst I've had at UCF either. The tests are HARD and you really need to read the material. Study guides or reviews would have helped. In the end, I got a B though.
Too much busy work!
I can't believe people always complain about Mills. I have had her for two classes now and am scheduled for another next semester--and she's good! People say she is so hard, but she's not and she's always willing to assist people outside of class.
worst thing going...go back to the 60's!!!

Hated this class with a passion! Can't completely blame her though, because its a required RTV course. This class is made specifically for students on the production track and should have been just for them. One of the worst teachers I have had.
I can honestly say this woman is the reason I changed my major! I hated her for 3000, and 3200. Unorganized, impossible to study for tests when we you dont know what's going to be on them!& no I didnt fail either class I passed them with an A and a B!
Only take this class if you want to become a broadcasting professional. She does not kid around, she requires a lot from her students, but she knows what she is talking about and she is trying to prepare us for the outside world. Only take her if you are serious! Excellent teacher!
This class should be reserved for RTV majors only. As a liberal studies major, I found it really hard although I ended up with a B. She is a really nice person and helpful but the tests are hard. She curved 2 of the 3 and let us retake quizzes but the class was still hard.
She is the nicest professor I have had in college. She is interesting and willing to help you if you need it. If you do the work, you will get a good grade. Try and get yourself in her class
I love this professor. She is more than helpful and every lecture is interesting. Mills absolutely LOVES news! You have to share the passion to really enjoy her class. She is big on hands-on work and tries to teach in a way everyone can understand.
She has a passion for television, and if you do too, you will love her. Don't look for an easy A, you have to listen to keep up with her. She assumes you already know a lot about television. Just a little out dated, but she tries to keep the class informed.
Mills has a unique voice. Can induce a coma, you will have to get over this and remember what she says. It will haunt you later. She puts a lot on her plate and can be rather short with you. She is also getting her PhD--I'm sure that's where the moodiness sets in. Always get to the point with her.

Hated the class... hated her tone of voice and ways of teaching. class is very boring yet easy if yu do all the work as is all u need are 60's on the exams to get a B in the class. Thats what I did.
Wouldn't recommend it for people that don't have any background or interest in TV production. This class pretty much teaches you the basics of television (specifically news) without ever touching a piece of equipment (which sucks) cuz how ru supposed to learn nething....i learned way more in my 4 years in high school...but i got an A easily
I hate this women. Absolute horror to work with. Endless fighting every boardcast. Makes students feel like trash. Moody, stubborn, and mean. Never looks at student in the eye when talking to them. Alienates other faculty in the program. Pins student against one another. Does everything the hardest way possible. I hate her. I hate her. I hate her!!
Honestly, she is a good teacher that expects college students to work at a college level. She does not baby you and tell you every answer that will be on a test. Tests are fair. If you do what she asks on the projects you get a good grade. I enjoyed her class and I think she is very knowledgeable.
worst adivsor EVER!! didnt mind her as a teacher, but as an advisor, she is horrible. If she is your advisor i suggest you see someone else!!!!!
SHE WAS OK. GROUP PROJECTS ARE ACTUALLY FUN IF YOU HAVE A GOOD GROUP. SHE IS A LITTLE SHORT WITH STUDENTS AT TIME BUT OVERALL GOOD TEACHER.
Her class was fun. Do the projects right and you get A's. Exams are hard but it is a fun class. she is a good teacher.
Class was easy. tests are easy if you just read the material and study her powerpoints. Classes are interesting. Mills knows what she's talking about and fun to listen to, but not very helpful to students outside class. Group projects are easy but a pain in the butt. Be easier if they were individual projects.
Tests are HARD and CONFUSING! Quizzes are OKay...group projects and discussions are SO easy and takes no time to do them. Class is pretty boring, lots of powerpoint slides.
The most boring person in the entire university and does not know what she is talking about. This feels like a 9th grade English class. (This is supposed to be Foundations of Story.)
I thought Found. of Story would be fun. I want it to be fun. She doesn't. She's not sure what she is doing herself. You write papers, longer papers than in any English class that I have taken. Treat this class like a 4000 level course. The quizzes will hurt you bad so depend on your Group Grades. Hopefully you'll have a good group like I did.
If you thinking that you will actually be learning how to write and start writing your own story, think again. It is more about learning about some theories behind story telling. Basically you're just bsing your way through research papers because you have a week to do it and it is a group project with 4 other people. Yeah...
she's really nice and helpful. not so many notes, so you have to learn from the books. group work is easy if students do their part; tests are hard.
Is completely unable to make the text, which she relies on heavely, interesting or relavent. Is horrably unhelpful when students ask for asistentance and the requirements for group assignment, papers which usually have to be a minimum of eight pages, are not posted untill two weeks prior to the due date.
Not about writing stories, mainly about theories related to plot. Obsessed with the NY Times and demands you get a subscription. Also makes you come up with a video game proposal/your own hero. Not a very good class, she treats everyone like you're in grade school. Still, she means well and tries to be nice.
Even though I got a good grade, I worked my butt off. Most grades are group projects that suck and are a lot of work. She treats everyone like they're 5, and no one respected her in the class. She made us subscribe to the NY Times, but we never used it. Don't take her class!!!
Kinda tough for a Freshmen level course, but the teacher does provide a lot of help if you have the willingness to go get it. Lot of Work, not much time to do it in, but some reprieve giving at points. She is not as bad as everyone says, but if you take the class, be prepared to work, I mean come on people you're in college arent you?
This class was not that hard overall because its mostly group projects but ur expected to read a lot I found one book to be interesting but most of the class is boring. She gives horrible test reviews so dont always expect to do well especially on the Final. As long as u do really good on the class projects ur likely to get a B.
You learn the same thing about 10 times, but it's not her fault. She means well and tries to make the group activities fun, just hope you have a smart group and STUDY for the tests. Don't subscribe to the NY Times, just get it on campus. =)
Means well but is pretty spacy and repetitive. The class is pretty boring, even for a film major. Too much theory, not enough help with our own stories. Movies are usually a stretch to what she is talking about (we watched an episode of West Wing...) Random and disorganized, wouldn't recommend but Film majors have to take it...
I dont know what these people are talking about, Mills is a great teacher, really nice and fun. She didn't make us order NY Times or talk about TV shows..
BORINGGGGGGGGG. Easy A.
Alright so this teacher his horrible. First off, she made us buy 3 textbooks and that new clicker for the class, all this for a 1000 level course. She rushes through notes, and most of the material is un-studyable for the exams. And her documentaries are awful, all of them. Take anyone else you can for this class if you can.
She is by no means a terrible teacher. Enables students to learn the material but is rather dry in character and monotone in speech. It's a fairly easy class. If you read the required material you'll have no problem in the class.
I took Dr. Mills's class online and found it to be the perfect level of difficulty. Not to easy yet not as time consumingly hard as my other courses. Her web page is better than that of other online teachers I've had. The books she requires aren't as boring as they seem and are quite readable. Can't say how good she is face to face, but online's A+
I took this class online and did not even purchase any of the books required and still received an A in the course. Majority of the films are interesting and the material tested on is pretty easy to go over. She is great with communication and quite helpful if you need it. Only did 1 writing paper besides the quizzes/tests. Definite recommendation!
She is very nice and helpful, and very knowledgable about the material she covers, but lectures and screenings sometimes tend towards pretty dull. The class is still good and I feel like I'm learning a lot. It is a bit harder than I expected, but it's not impossible.
For an online class you must purchase 3 books and somehow attain several films of her choosing. Her only advice is withdraw if you don't like it. 3 exams & 4 quizzes scheduled. Summer courses do the same amount of work.
Dr. Mills is cute, intelligent, and helpful - everything you want in a professor. There are people on here who just want an easy A and don't care about learning. If you don't like to THINK then maybe her class, or college in general, isn't for you. She's expanded my mind on film in so many ways. And her films are good.
This class started out fun and was a breeze and an easy A. But she was so confusing as a professor and was kind of mean sometimes. She is a nice lady but would shoot down people's work if it wasn't up to her standard. It was frustrating because multiple times I did a task, was told it was incorrect, then she redid it the same exact way.
I took FIL1007 online with Mills and here were my problems: She delayed my financial aid by 1 week, Very disorganized and random, she continually changes the due dates of assignments and expects us to get them done on time in a short amount of time, doesn't respond to emails!, Lots of pointless readings and movies to watch. Don't take her class!
Took this online. She had a great setup for the online modules and selected movies that were both entertaining and technically impressive. Very helpful and responds quickly to emails. Requirements for assignments were a literally unclear at times but basically just write complete stories with good characters. Skip the reading if you want.
Mills is pretty nice and has some good industry information but sometimes her assignments can be pretty frustrating. Could do worse as far as professors go. Class itself involves a pretty big group project in the form of writing a television pilot. Typical group project drama ensues.
This was the first time she's taught this class online. It's very theory driven, with two books that you go back and forth reading. Didn't care for them, it's a lot of information to process. She chose documentaries for us to watch every week and some of them were interesting. Test can be deceptively hard. The class might get changed up, not sure.
Mills is a sweetie, but I thought as far as online classes go this one was pretty messy. There was a lot of reading and many of the films didnt appeal to me personally. After a while I kind of just skipped the films and the reading and went back to look for specific answers. I did ok with that. Not as well as I would have liked.
Tons of tedious busy work in this class. Good luck sitting through the hero's journey for a third of the class. Overly specific test questions too. Wouldn't take again.
Unnecessarily hard, but a great teacher. I would say avoid this teacher if you can, but it's not like you can actually pick and choose in this major.
Get ready for a mountain of busy work and some dull / condescending lectures. For such easy material it's unnecessarily bloated and complicated and makes me hate script writing.
An absurd amount of reading. Quizzes and tests get very specific, and often won't tell you what questions you got wrong, so good luck learning for the next one. Not the worst, but there could be a lot of work and the films could be pretty boring.
Dr. Mills is a very nice professor. Her class consists of a movie, a discussion, and a quiz that's assigned on a weekly basis. It's pretty easy but if you have other work to do it's an inconvenience. I missed an assignment by a minute and mailed her if she could open it but she didn't respond. The quizzes are muted which is pretty annoying tbh.
This class was taken for Summer B. The curriculum is new and based off a documentary series and lecture slides/videos. Class consisted of 2 multiple choice quizzes and an exam every week, exams were obviously weighted more heavily. No written assignments or finals in this class. There were 3 extra credit assignments available. Easy enough.
I had Dr. Mills for online history of film during a 5-week summer term. She doesn't do much with her online classes. Assignments due Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday each week. Quizzes are super easy, but the tests are lowkey kinda hard. She offers two extra credit opportunities, which are written essays, for a possible grade increase of up to 6%.
This class was ease. I took this class summer B online and basically put 0 effort in. There is a book she wants you to get but there is also a pdf online that has everything as well. Quizzes give you 3 tries which makes them impossible to fail. Tests are 25 questions but every single answer is on the module slides. Easiest class I've ever taken.
5 test exams one try and 10 quizzes 3 tries. No written assignments. One extra credit at the end of the semester which is an essay from 500-1000 words. Professor is not good at responding to emails but does send out a lot of announcements. Book is not necessary in my opinion module slides have almost all answers. Very easy A.
Super nice & engaging w/ students. Online FIL2030 course included 14 module 3Q quizzes, 5 exams, and 1 extra credit opportunity. Everything taken on canvas no lockdown but open notes. Textbook would help but not necessary.
I took Professor Mill's online summer class for History of Motion Pictures. She provides a lot of great powerpoint presentations you can use to take notes and help out on the quizzes. However, there was a LOT of reading that was required, and pretty much all of the assignments are based off the readings. Enjoyable class though.
Technically Professor Mills was not my main professor for Foundations of Story, but she was present in many of the digital lectures throughout the course. At these times, she provided some very good information and walks you through parts of the book for the class. The online class was overall informative, fun, and not too difficult either.
