very fair
Great professor!! She's very knowledgeable in her field, and provides a lot of examples from her experience in the clinical area. I high recommend her!
Interesting class & she brings in fun crazy people as case studies. However, take really good notes & look for the stuff in the book that she doesn't mention in class. Many people did bad on tests because they didn't study thoroughly enough.
Fun class, especially the guest speakers. And there are a LOT of guest speakers. Be sure to keep up with the readings and study hard for tests. They're actually pretty difficult.
I think Dr. Mori wrote the good comments on here. Most of my class agrees that she is TERRIBLE. She lectures at light-speed and her tests are hard. She is big on the memorization of details as opposed to teaching concepts. The ONLY good thing about her class is the guest speakers she gets. BAD!!!!!
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE...she is NO teacher. She has major issues and I am deeply disturbed by her behavior in the classroom...eye rolling, sying, etc. She is vicious and has really not taught us anything more than we could have learned reading the DSM ourselves.
I found her classes interesting and her guest speakers were great. She does expect us to know a lot of details from the book. You really have to study a lot for the exams and there is sooo much material. If you're looking for GE class and want to get out of it alive, DO NOT TAKE HER. However, if psych is your major and u want to learn, do take her.
This class is extremely hard! Your grade is based on 3 tests, 1 being the final (40% of your grade). Nice teacher though, a bit disorganized, but she brings in interesting guest speakers. I would not recommend anyone to take her unless you have a lot of time to study for this class, you have to know material from the book & lectures(not in the book
She is awesome! She makes the class totally interesting, especially with the guest speakers. it's an easy A if you attend, take a sh&t load of notes and read the chapters back and forth. But this makes it easy because you know that all you have to do is read and take good notes. of course, if you're lazy, your fu#*ed!!
She is soooooo boring!!!
Very difficult class, 1st test average grade 62%, 2nd test average grade 68%(highest grade was 80%),not taken final yet. She is a nice person just bad teacher.I agree with the prevous comment that Dr. Mori must have wrote the nice things about her class. Not one person that I have spoken to liked her class except for the guest speakers. Hard class!
She is AWESOME,,,, I learned so much... Really helped me to prepare for clinical therapy...She is very hard, expects a lot but is always willing to help if you ASK her for it.
This teacher sucks. She needs to take a class in ethics. If you take her class, hopefully she will like you. If not, you're screwed. If you want her to like you, you better start puckering up when she bends over.
Dr.Mori is an amazing teacher...everything you need to know for the test or on blackboard or she tells you what stats you need...her quest speakers are great...the tests are easy if you study and pay attention...and there's plenty of east points from her not so pop quizes.*
I really liked guest speakers. Almost half of exam come from study guide, so at least c is guranteed. She posted her power point lectures in blackboard and this class has + and - system with 3 exams. Seeing multiple personality disorder person in class, can't imagine. Worth to take it.
if u practice the tests in the study guide u will do fine
Very nice and sweet professor who is always willing to help her students. I would definetly recommend her, she made class fun, even brought us snacks for our last day of class!
Great teacher, uses powerpoint for lectures, has several guest speakers come in for the chapters on multiple personality disorder, bipolar ect. Likes small activites done in groups. Very interesting/informative class, recommended.

Is a good teacher.. Lectures are good and off of power point.. Her test are easy mostly from the study guides.. If you want to pass PSY 101 by doing your work and the bare min. this is a class you can take..
One of the most fair and helpful professors I have ever had!! She really wants you to succeed in her class and is always willing to help you. Guest speakers are extremely interesting...study guide very helpful!!
Easy class. There were 3 tests all multiple choice. Questions came from study guide book and lectures. Lectures were power point and very clear. Post them on blackboard. Have to come to class to get group work points, mostly 5 pts each. Overall good class.
This class was extremely interesting! She goes through material pretty fast and is not very helpful. She has guest speakers come in and talk about the topics that are covered which was really fun. If you don't care about teacher interaction much, you will like her!
Take her for Abnormal. Her guests speakers really make the class unique from the other teachers. I got a C but was so close to a B. It's a hard class. Talk with her before tests as to what to focus on when studing and it should help a little. Hard class, but take her!
This class was really interesting! Dr. Mori brought in guest speakers periodically who actually had the disorder that we were learning about at the time. The tests were pretty easy as long as you study from the study guide (lots of questions come directly from it) and the powerpoints. I learned a lot and am glad I took this class!
Her lectures are useless. They never follow the many powerpoint pages she puts on blackboard. Very confusing. She speaks too fast and gets angry if you slow her down with questions. She seems to be too pre-occupied with her own research to care if we pass or not. Do not take her!
Her tests are impossible. guest speakers are super interesting though. her slides, the slides she gives us, the book, and the study guide all give different information.. which doesnt help. no papers, but in-class pop quizes. unless you're willing to dedicate your life to this class, it's kind of a GPA killer.
Horrible Teacher and even worse TAs. The guest speakers were the only interesting part. The subject is interesting but she makes it so confusing and impossible to do well in. She should never be allowed to teach this course. Good luck to anyone who gets stuck in her class.
I'm not sure what others found difficult about the class - it was one of the most interesting and easiest classes I've taken. I found the aides to be very helpful. I loved Dr. Mori's lectures as well. She gives easy pop quizes (drops the lowest), 4 exams, no paper. As long as you go to class, you'll be fine.
She's the worst teacher ever. Her test questions are completely different from her lectures, and the answers to the questions cannot be found in the book. Unless you have taken most psychology classes, there is no way u can pass her class by simply have taken a general psychology 101 class.
All the negative comments carry over into the graduate level. She is insecure, boring, does not understand people's psychology and really vindictive ! The tail-light of the teaching profession with a truly twisted personality. I regret to have ever taken her class! If you look for an enlightening class, look for someone else!!!!
If at all possible, avoid this teacher. Talks down to her students, class is almost impossible to get an A, and you can tell she hates teaching.
I loved her!1st class at Cal State Fullerton as a transfer student. She is difficult only if you dont go to class & don't study. It is an upper division class hello!! Wonderful guest speakers, extra credit,4 exams & quizzes that arent really pop ;),class activities! She always answered ?'s & responded to emails. I got an A. Study & u will do great!
She was such a wonderful teacher. Everyone should quit their whining & realize that this is an upper division class. She was good at answering emails, answered all my question and even asked how we wanted the class to be run in a survey in the beginning of the semester. GO TO CLASS & STUDY!!She even puts ?'s right from the study guide in exams.
Dr. Mori is one of the smartest professors that I've ever had. She knows her stuff. It's not an easy class but the professor is very helpful if you need help. If you read her powerpoint lecture notes and study them it will help you a lot.
Great Class! YOU must go to do well. She knows what she is talking about, and she wants you to do well. Great speakers, no HW, and extra credit! Tests are hard but if you study hard you should have no problem geeting a good grade in the class!
If you want to have a good learing experience and take a class you can be comfortable in be careful and do not take her. When the class average is a D, meaning that 85% of her students are failing and she still blames it on the students, there's a problem with her.
Dr Mori is an amazing professor! do not believe the negative rummors about her...she is beyond helpful & she knows what she is talking about! attend class...quizs are major points!!
dr mori was amazing! very helpful....all u need to do is ask. QUIZS ARE MAJOR!! be in class all the time!!!
This class is not for the faint at heart, you have to study and you have to attend class, you have to do the study guides, and read the chapters (at least twice). This is because the exams are very detailed, and she does pop quizzes to make sure you're reading. Our class has mostly D's, so if Psych is not your major, do not take this an elective.
You have to do a lot of work on your own for this one, but its not impossible. Read the notes and the book (which will be a lot) and you'll be okay. Anything in notes or book, even if she didnt cover it, is game for the tests. She's not very helpful; kinda lazy. Its pretty much a teach-yourself.
Very knowledgeable, but not much of a teacher. I should have bought my own copy of the DSM book. Learned a lot, but her exams were tough. I was an A student, but got a C in her class. She did bring in people with different psych issues, which was very interesting.
She is so HARD!I had a 3.6 until I took her class. I was getting a D in her class. The only reason I got a B was because she decided to grade on a curve almost @ the last min. (It was because the average grade in ALL her classes were Ds. She told us this.) Everyone I talk to that has taken her doesn't like her class. If you can avoid her, AVOID!
Ok, SO i just finished her class a couple of days ago, Dr. Mori has a challenging class. At first I wasn't sure if I liked her, but she ended up being pretty decent. I leveled with her,and she excused me for not being able to attent one of the class periods (I had a thursday only class), and she gave me full points for the quiz we took thatday. Her
Her lectures are confusing, and she puts way too much info on the slides, but if you study hard on your own it's not that bad. Ask lots of questions she's always willing to help! She seems tough, but she's sweet. If your lazy, you won't like her, but if you like a challenge, she's awesome.
after reading all the rates about her already, i realized the lazy students don't like her. this is college, youre going to have to work hard for a grade and her class is one of them. im not super smart and got an A in her class. it takes studying and reading. her exams are hard, but its possible to get a good grade.
I liked the subject but she puts a lot of information on the slides and she skips slides too. Don't get behind in the reading and use the TA because that's the best way to pass. most of the people in our class have Cs and Ds. there's only a few Bs and no As. One good thing is how she brings guest speakers in that have the disorders
Abnormal Psych is an interesting subject but she wants you do know a lot of details/stats. her powerpoints are confusing because a lot of times she doesn't finish them or she goes out of order. her pop quizzes are hard but she does offer some extra credit for jeopardy reviews and participating in a psych study. overall pretty tough but passable
Pointless class. Didn't open the book once, don't need to. Does a lot of pointless group work but you have to participate or expect your letter grade to drop. Also seemed impatient when I needed some clarity. Take Ryba instead if she's available.
A lot of people in these reviews stress that she teaches a "passable" class. That's true. You can take her, and expect to "pass". But don't expect her to make it easy for you. She's always five minutes late to class, produces needlessly confusing powerpoints, resistant to questions, and actually talks about trying to make the class harder.
Mori is condescending, don't bother asking a question. However, I learned a lot. She doesn't care about attendance but you can't afford to miss a pop quiz (1 per chapter= 1 a week). No paper- quizzes are all short answer, exams m/c: questions on both are very detail oriented. The best part of the class are the guest speakers with disorders.
Extremely hard class. Her lectures weren't thorough as she's always in a rush and doesn't go over the whole chapter, yet she'll test you on it anyway. No assigments.lots of hard pop quizes so make sure ur always prepared!! Tests are incredibly TRICKY so make sure u read the book bit by bit!! Never studied so hard just to get a C.
I can honestly say i think she wants to fail people The quizzes get easier as the semester goes on There is one every week & it's on the reading so read the book yes you have to buy the book One of the hardest classes i had to work for just to get a C The highest on one of the tests was an 84 & she doesn't curve the grades Good luck if you take her
Tbh it seems she doesnt care if u fail. Shes VERY condescending, interruptive(even 2 her guest speakers), unorganized, acts like she wants 2 help u but makes u feel stupid 4 wasting her time. She missed 5/16 classes (class was 1/week), had a sub who barely spoke english & a utube freak TA teach her class. Im an A/B student & I got a D. Stay Away!
AVOID!!! Dr. Mori is rude & makes you feel stupid everytime you ask a question. Her powerpoints are 50+ slides but only goes over half, if even that, & still will quiz you on the whole chapter. There are pop quizes ever week (short anser) Thetest are very hard. Im a A/B student and I didnt pass the class. This class requires a lot of time!
Avoid avoid avoid, she is a very hard teacher, doesn't care about her students fail or not.
I'm a 4.0 student on full scholarship and it was like Greek to me. Studied 2 weeks in advance and followed the study guides, useless. Chooses tiny facts from reading, power-points and online help. Had to drop and maintain my gpa. Not helpful at all, her TA didn't even take her class. Choose a different instructor or suffer, this is no joke!
Yes, she is hard but not that hard. She does go over the ppt slides fast, but I think her tests/quizzes are doable. The important thing is that she makes studying mandatory and so you learn more than you do in other classes. What did you expect when you paid $3000/sem. tuition? An easy stroll?
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!! I am a 4.0 student and I have never had a harder class. She believes if you don't understand the lecture or have a question it is because you were not paying attention. Talks down to her students and was just overall rude all semester.
Don?t take class unless you HAVE to.She really makes you work for your grade; she never finishes her PP during class. Short Answer Pop Quizzes given every other week(difficult).Exams are challenging. Only plus to the class is the Guest Speakers, but that?s bitter-sweet considering she quizzes students on the presentation. AVOID!
I ignored the comments and THOUGHT only lazy students were complaining. I was wrong!! I read all chapters, took notes, studied and still didn't pass her class. DON'T TAKE HER CLASS!! No matter what! Horrible professor. Her power points are fill in the blank and have too much information. The book chapters are long & expects you to know every detail
Very difficult professor. She definitely makes you work for your grade. Expect to use the book a lot and do a lot of outside studying for quizzes and tests since she speeds through her in-class powerpoints. The guest speakers are awesome though and really make the class.
If you take abnormal psych with Mori you are not going to have a good time. She is rude to say the least and the test are nearly impossible. I know that less than half of my 341 class passed with a C or better.
Incredibly difficult. her class is just memorization and regurgitation of facts. best part is that she has guest speakers that come in but is kind of ruined since you have to take notes for exam because her questions can be very random and very specific ex. What medication is speaker A on? No application of facts at all. Aids seem to do everything.
Honestly the reviews on here made me nervous but, Dr.Mori's class was very interesting. The guest speakers were awesome. If you work hard you can get a good grade, reading the text book is a must. If psych isnt your major, you may want to try a class that need as much background knowledge of different areas of the brain.
If you can avoid taking her class please do so. However if you end up taking her. Try to remember every detail possible. Also read each chapter at least twice because this class requires full commitment. Study ahead of time and attend the study sessions. The T.A will help you as much as he can. Its doable if you study and are a good student.
The class is difficult, but not impossible. You must read every single chapter and memorize a lot of little details. Though, the material was very interesting.
The class IS NOT that hard! You just need to put in work! Review your notes before the quizzes and READ. I'm not a psych. major and took this class because this was the only avail. class and I passed with a B+. Her tests have been modified in the recent semesters to accomodate her students. I would recommend this class if you're interested in psych
For the love of god..... do not take this class with dr. lisa mori. The best part about this class are the guest speakers she brings in. The tests are insanely hard. and she has pop quizzes that are just as hard. Find another prof unless you absolutely no other choice... good god
Avoid this professor if you can! Horrible, hard tests and quizzes. There's study guides but the tests aren't even on the same material!
Abnormal Psyc with Dr Mori is HORRIBLE! Avoid at all costs!
I thought she was a great teacher. She had guests come in and speak about disorders instead of her just lecturing. She gave out quizes instead of a assigning a paper, which I thought was great! Attendance isn't mandatory but you need to go to class otherwise you will miss the quizes. She had great study guides and gave you access to past exams.
This class was soo interesting! Dr. Mori makes things so easy to understand. Yes there is a lot of material covered in the exams, but they are not that hard at all. Study, read the book, and review lecture slides. Yes, you actually have to study in college. Dr. Mori was great!
She is really tough, you have to study so hard and she gives out a lot of pop quizzes. MAKE SURE you keep up with readings and it won't be terrible. She's really confusing sometimes though.
Such an interesting class! Dr. Mori gives really good lectures but her powerpoints don't match the ones she gives you, but she still expects you to know all the information. Keep up with the reading! She expects you to know even the smallest, most insignificant piece of info. This is not an easy A or easy B. You really have to try hard.
Mostly reads off powerpoints, goes super fast cuz she expects everyone to have printed notes or a laptop. Expects you to remember every detail about disorders and most quizzes were on material not covered in class yet so you need to read beforehand. Tests are hard but she always gives an exam review and guide. She's not that great of a teacher.
Awful. Worst experience in my entire college career. Pop quiz almost every week (usually on a lecture that she has not even taught on). She basically reads directly from her power points the entire time & skips most of the slides, expecting you to learn the information on your own time. I've always been a straight A student & I got a D. Don't take
To most of the people complaining, you are in college. Breezing through classes is not a challenge. Dr. Mori teaches a challenging course, but the material is so intriguing it was completely worth it. Tests are difficult, but if you read and go to lecture you'll be great. I am a straight A student, but received a B in the course- it was earned.
TESTS ARE SO SPECIFIC, NEED TO KNOW IRRELEVANT MATERIAL. POWER POINTS ARE LONG, AND YES THEY DO NOT MATCH THE ONES SHE GIVES YOU. IF YOU DO NOT READ THE TEXTBOOK AND STUDY REALLY HARD YOU WILL NOT DO WELL ON EXAMS. SERIOUSLY DO NOT TAKE!!! GRADES ON MEMORIZATION NOT CONTENT.
Ohhhhhhhhhmg. She's ridiculous. Took this class as an elective. Never have I ever made such a bad choice. Her lectures are terrible. Her grading is hard core. She only reached you like half of what you need. She's pretty funny though. And the guest speakers are really cool.
omg. worst mistake i have ever made in my academic career. she is really bad. and i mean bad. she doesnt even lecture. she will go if you are lucky. like 3-4 pages of a lecture and make it the notes fill in. and she doesnt even lecture completely over the whole topic. and then has you take quizzes on information she never even talked about.
There are 10 quizzes total, many on subjects she had either not gone over AT ALL, or very briefly touched on. Abnormal Psych should be a very interesting class, but she ruined it. If I wanted to have to teach myself everything, I would have just taken an online class. Take another professor if you can!
I was super nervous going in to this class because of all the bad reviews on here and I walked out with an A. Yes, it's hard, but its doable. She's a great lecturer and brings in guest speakers so students get to see mental health in front of them. Don't take for an easy A.
This had to be one of my favorite classes I have taken. The exams were tough, but only because there is a lot of detail. Pop quiz and guest speaker every week. Study before the jeopardy review sessions because the bonus points add up! Take advantage of the student aids and study sessions, too. Exam Q's from online tool are very important
Ok so just a pre warning she doesn't go over all her PowerPoint slides she posts on titanium. Why I have no clue. She wants her students to learn everything themselves. Worst abnormal psychology ever. And her POP quiz's are over material she never lectured over. Find any other professor who doesn't want to make your life miserable
Definitely not an easy A class, but if you want easy you should major in underwater basket weaving, not psychology. No other professor will teach you as much as Dr. Mori does. It is a very dense class, but she is incredibly sweet & will always help if you actually ask for it.
I don't know why everyone is so harsh on her. I took psyc341 and it's an UPPER DIVISION course so of course it's tough. Yes, she does expect us to read on our own and cover the material she sometimes can't in class, but you can't expect her to cover all the important things in a chapter in one class, especially with abormal psych.
This class is difficult. She doesn't finish her lectures, study guides do not coordinate with the test, and the pop quizzes never stop. It's mostly reading the book and learning the material on your own, and there is A LOT of it. The highlight of this class was definitely the guest speakers, but that wasn't enough to justify taking it.
Lectured by powerpoint but goes through them really fast. She posts them at the beginning of the semester but the powerpoints she lectures off of are slightly different (pay attention to them!). Tests are hard, 10 pop quizes, no papers, in class group work. Don't take if you don't want to work- the material is detailed and reading is essential.
Great class. Read chapters ahead of time. Complete the entirety of the study guide. Record jeopardy, and do the extra credit.
Reading the textbook is a must. Dr. Mori is a nice woman but makes you work for your grade. Has guest speakers who make material easier to understand. ALWAYS gives quizzes when there is a guest speaker with material not always covered in lectures. Goes through lectures very fast. Exams are tough. Attendance not mandatory but it does help you out.
The worse professor I have ever taking in my entire life. She is not nice at all. Exams are really hard. She doesn't show enthusiasm to teach. She really low your self esteem. NOT RECOMMEND at all. She teach to fast and the power point she have in class is so different than the one she posted on taitanium. Dont recommend
Dont miss class, her powerpoints are different than the ones she gives you. In order to do well on the quizzes, you HAVE to keep up with the reading. Read each chapter after every lecture, and that will help you on the quizzes. Hard exams, you really have to work for your grade. Keep up with the readings and you will be fine.
Terrible teacher. Lazy, does not finish lectures, places a lot of her work load on the TA, most lectures were replaced by guest speakers, and did I mention she's terrible at lectures? Was excited to take Abnormal Psychology until the first time I stepped in that class.
Not the best professor. Her lecture slides arent the same with the ones she has online. It was hard to keep up because she just flies through the lectures with not much detail. Couldn't have passed if it wasn't for the TA helping out. Get the book, you'll need it.
Do not take this class if you're not willing to work for your grade! Focus on the powerpoints and do the study guides ahead of time. ALWAYS go to the review sessions! Pop quizzes can be brutal, so glance over material before class if possible. TA's are gonna save your grade.
For people complaining about how hard this class was, you're taking a class on mental illnesses, of course it's hard. Dr. Mori makes you work for your grade. She is still very sweet. Her guest speakers are incredible but because of them you do have to do a lot of reading on your own. Despite how hard the class was I got a B and I learned A LOT.
This is a very challenging class that is full of useful information for those of us going into the field of psychology. Dr. Mori doesn't give away points. She makes her students work for their grades because (I suppose) she cares about this field. Don't wait to study and start committing concepts to memory when you receive the material.
HARD TESTS, HARD POP QUIZZES, LOTS OF READING, AND LECTURE HEAVY. However, I learned so much in this class (due to fear of failing) that I retained after I took the final. The guest speakers are amazing and definitely help solidify the material. You NEED the book, she often skips slides in lectures so get ready to teach yourself! Overall, mediocre.
Lisa Mori is definitely a mixed bag. She is very knowledgeable and as a student you can definitely tell this. She utilizes her TAs so that students have a peer to reach out too. She does not give all of her slides and does require students to read. EVERYTHING IS FAIR GAME, even if it is not discussed in class. The guest speakers are phenomenal.
This is a hard class. In order to do well on quizzes, all material must be read and studied before you get to class. I don't agree with some things the Professor teaches. For instance, she teaches that a person who is "Bi" has a borderline PD and I don't agree with being rude to students. But Lectures and material are very interesting & good class.
I already rated Dr. Mori, I may have been a bit unfair. The tests are worded tricky, but perhaps it is just me who has trouble navigating through them. So if you like direct questions on an exam, and do not like pop quizzes some not so pop, but still difficult, then take someone else. If you can devote all your study time to this class take it.
My TA was awful, the guest speakers were not helpful, the class is based primarily on three exams, read the whole book before taking this class, Dr. Mori teaches as if this were standford, Get ready to read each chapter about 3 times to understand the material throughly because you will have to know it, beware of the TA you get seriously.
The subject and material is challenging. Dr. Mori goes over a lot of material because she expects her students to know everything for the test. One good tip, read the chapter and study the slides before attending class. Also, she's a knowledgeable professor, but I wouldn't take everything she says at face, she seems to have problems herself.
Dr. Mori rushes through lectures, so be prepared to read each chapter multiple times in order to get a passing grade in this class. Besides a few questions on each exam about the guest lectures, I basically could have stayed home and taught myself this material with the little effort she put in to convey the material. HIGHLY suggest not taking her.
Although knowledgeable, Dr. Mori's teaching style drastically needs improvment. Despite providing guestspeakers that make the class interesting and eye-opening, this professor simply does not teach affectively and is the definition of unapproachable. In the TA's teaching more than the professor, this class if perfect if you want to teach yourself.
I really enjoyed this class. She makes you work for it but it lights a nice fire under your arse. Amazing woman and extremely knowledgeable. Intimidating but in a good way
This criteria & speakers were very interesting, but otherwise this class was overwhelming. Her power-points were like 70 slides, and she makes study guides but they honestly don't help because they don't narrow down the material. The class average for test #2 was 69% and the highest test grade was a B+. The TAs have test reviews which help alot
Had issues with the online assignments not showing credit after being completed. It is very easy to lose points in this class and the material isn't explained fairly or competently for the student to properly prepare for the exams. Professors like these are the ones who just really need to retire if you don't want to do your job and help students
Read the book completely. I recommend printing up lecture slides (yes, it is a lot) and taking notes along in class. There are guest speakers which are an amazing and keep you interested. That being said, reading the book is IMPORTANT. Reading the chapters based on the guest speaker is also important. She is a challenging, but very knowledgeable.
80+ slides(unfilled, B&W full text) shown quickly during class, & never fully covered. Heavy material load. Doesn't repeat due dates. Readings are manditory with graded online quizzes. During COVID-19 home/online classes, test were more stressul-> Didn't allow SKIPPING/GOING BACK on questions & strictly timed. Offers EC. Best for self-learners.
Stay away. 70+ fill in the blank slides. Goes way to fast and do not cover all the slides. Online quizzes based on the chapter readings plus pop quizzes in class. Everything is fare game on exams and quizzes:guess speakers, slides, sample scenarios and book, even if she never covered it on class. 3 exams, 10 pop quiz, 15 online quiz. A LOT OF WORK.
This class is extremely difficult. Every piece of information is important and you will be tested on EVERYTHING. Im usually an A/B student, and I can honestly say this class was by far one of the top 3 hardest classes Ive been exposed to. Get ready to READ A LOT, take exams that are INSANE, Oh and to deal with a professor who shows no sympathy.
She is a nice person, but not really good professor. You are going to read the chapters in order to understand. Do study guides and try to use the extra credit. You will be fine, but study.
Prof. Mori shows no sympathy. Our class for Fall/2020 had an average exam percentage of 64% and she only gave us 4 extra points and would not consider curving the test knowing how many of us failed due to her very unspecific guide for the test. Review everything she gives you! She expects a lot from you but very little back from her. She's a pain.
Very stubborn and will not compromise. Does not curve even when the class average was 60%. Blamed the class for being lazy. Grades extremely hard for someone who does not ever finish their lectures.
While Dr. Mori is knowledgeable in her area of study, she lacks the one thing every psychology enthusiast should have; empathy. She is very stubborn and imo immature/petty. She removed group activities from class because we simply asked for more time. Her lectures do not give any more info than required/graded reading. I do not recommend taking.
Do NOT take this class I entered this class hopeful and ready to learn I love psyc and learning about it, but Dr Mori is not a good professor especially online Her exams are HARD, our class average was 52 out of100. She is passionate about psyc but maybe she shouldn't teach it. Spent weeks studying and still did not pass exams. Worst professor.
This class is a 300-level psychology class. It requires a lot of reading and a lot of studying. That being said, I really enjoyed Dr. Mori's lectures and the assigned reading because I was interested in the material. Might want to reconsider if you aren't interested! I studied about 12 hours for each exam and got B+, A, A+ on the exams.
Dr. Mori is not a good teacher online. She has so many slides on her power points and barely goes over any of them. She over does her exams, for being online shes very unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend taking her at all unless you enjoy teaching yourself.
Test questions were on the most random things. I studied a decent amount, but each test had way too much information we had to have memorized. Do not take her.
I was so excited to take this class and Professor Mori made it unenjoyable. Our class average score for the first exam was an F and she claimed she was surprised because she had made it "easy" for us. Each lecture has over 100 slides and she barely goes over 20 in one class but will still put everything on the exam.
Do not take this professor unless it is a last resort. Her exams are extremely difficult even with a study guide. Her assignments are only worth 1 point and there is a lot of assignments. Lectures are wordy and hard to follow. She speaks in a mono-tone voice. Very boring. Wouldnt recommend.
I did not learn anything from this class. Does not care for her students, exams are beyond hard, first exam average was a 49%. Relies on her teachers assistants way too much. Do not bother taking this class with her, let this be the last resort please IM WARNING YOU
THIS CLASS IS VERY HARD. Lecture slides are unorganized and repetitive. Exams are based solely on small details. Class averages are in the low 60s for every exam. Don't take this class if you plan on taking other classes because she thinks your life revolves around this class. The only good thing is that there are lots of TA's if you have questions
DON'T TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! Assignments are only worth 1 point which means exams will take up most of your grade! Exams are timed and extremely difficult even with study guides/TA's help. Considering her students have lives outside of her class plus dealing with the pandemic she didn't care! Literally the worst professor I've ever had.
If you want to learn about depression and anxiety first hand then take her psych 341 because you surely will develop both if you enroll.
This is probably one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. I probably had about 3 breakdowns during this class. Unless you want to read every single week and play catch up on chapters then take her. It is doable but it is not easy! You HAVE to read and HAVE to study. if you don't you'll 100% fail. Her TA's are helpful though
Prof. Mori is amazing. She has guest speakers which is what sold me about the class. She provides study guides too. She gives hints for the quizzes so if you study and truly love psych then you will be okay. She gives opportunity for extra credit and bonus points.
Dr. Mori knows what she's talking about but her lectures are easily 60-100 slides & she doesn't finish them. I really don't recommend taking her, cause you need to be good at studying & memorizing & know your stuff. TAs grade EVERYTHING she doesn't. It's bad if you don't get a good TA. Stressful class. Exams determine your grade. Extra credit.
This professor is on a power trip for sure. Her class is wayyy too difficult for being just an undergraduate 300 level class. Get prepared to work your tail off if you take her. Her lectures are HEAVY and super unorganized. And her student helpers are narcs. She makes quizzes/tests proctored AND in class. does have cool guest speakers tho. Wack.
ignore the good ratings. test averages was C-D range. and exams determine ur grade pretty much.
I took Dr.Mori's Abnormal Psych spring 22, and it was one of the most difficult classes I've taken. The textbook and laptop are required and grades are based mostly on exams and weekly quizzes. Lectures are 50-100+ slides. If you don't read or attend class you won't pass. I don't recommend this class unless you like mental breakdowns and stress.
This class will take 3-4 hrs to study, every 3-5 days depending on the grade you desire to receive. Her lectures are extremely fast which makes it hard to take notes, she didn't provide her completed power points outside of class, and you must read the chapter before class. DO THE STUDY GUIDES TO GET A MINIMUM OG 80% IN THE CLASS
Her lectures consist of 50+ slides that she does not fully go over. She gives out extra credit 10pts max. Her class is boring and she gives an awkward vibe. Has 2 exams and a final which are all multiple choice, but can only see the questions once. Honestly content is cool but not with her.
Professor Mori was awful and no help. She would go over 20/100 lecture slides on tuesday and then expect us to learn the rest of the material on our own and take a quiz thursday. She does not curve tests. I dropped her class after the first exam. If you can avoid taking her class AVOID IT. take a different professor do not take her.
Content was very interesting and topics give insight into mental health disorders. If you want to learn about this I recommend taking a different professor because she doesn't go over enough sufficient information to even begin to understand that week's topic. Attendance is mandatory. Lots of self-studying. She gives hints on quizzes.
This class was horrible. If you want to experience panic attacks, stress, and anxiety then I would recommend to take her. This class made my college experience HORRIBLE. She would only lecture 15 slides out of 125 slides. Everything that she says that will be on the test won't even be on the test... She does not curve and she has no empathy.
Honestly this class was hell. She is not helpful at all, I think she wants her students to fail. She doesn't curve exams even when the class average even if the class average is a 60%. I really do not understand how she is a professor and she gets away with failing her students. If she was my therapist I would become more depressed. DONT TAKE HER
Extremely hard class. 3 exams, first two 100 pts, last one 200 pts. Class is made up of about 350 pts so you better be a good test taker. No makeups. Study guides are typically 6+ pages per exam. Exam is small portion of study guide. Strongly encourage you to NOT take this professor at all cost!!!
Be prepared to read the textbook and take notes from her entire lecture. If tests are not your strong suit, this class may not be for you; they will make or break your final grade. Professor Mori is very knowledgeable in the field of psychology, and I greatly enjoyed attending class every week.
Awful class. DO NOT TAKE! Her lectures were over 100 slides and lectured maybe 20 out of the 100. The material she was lecturing was not the material that we needed to know for the test. Tests carried your whole grade. She also would give quizzes without lecturing the material and would give back to back quizzes.
Could not recommend her any less. She never finished a single lecture (each one was about 60-90 slides) and her test questions had nothing to do with the comprehension of the actual topics in abnormal psych and had you attempting to memorize a lot of random statistics. It seemed like everyone in the class was struggling.
Dr. Mori is a tough Profesor. However, she will go above and beyond to ensure one pass. I am not great with hard science and the brain, yet that is exactly what this class is, and it is a prereq. For certain Masters's programs. She is your best bet.
She is by far the worst professor I have taken. Her class is extremely difficult super lecture heavy I mean lecture slides are about 50+ slides she does not go over every single slide mine you. Unorganized. I would not take her again and I do not recommend her course to anyone.
Her class is very hard. I would not recommend unless you really love reading and have amazing memory. She will give you gigantic study guides and you could be tested on literally anything. Lots to memorize. Never finishes a lecture. On the plus, the guest speakers are what make the class somewhat worth it.
Her powerpoints are super unorganized, attaches a different powerpoint to her Canvas page that leaves out lots of info than the one in class, studyguides don't line up with material that is on powerpoints, and if you ask for any type of accomodations she responds with "nope, sorry that's the only way that you can do it", do NOT take this professor
The material itself is interesting, but it's a large amount of content and she always runs out of time to complete it. The exams are different from what she teaches and she isn't willing to make exceptions. The class average was low, so that says a lot. She also does not manage time well. The quizzes don't line up with what we read.
overall and interesting course to take but lectures are over 60 slides and she rarely finishes on time. if you enjoy reading on your own and have great memorizing dense material you'll be okay.
It is a very difficult course but the professor really doesn't do a good job with handling all of it. Never finishes lectures and the slides she uploads to canvas are different and have missing information to the ones she uses to give lecture. She gives really big study guides but never even goes over the whole material. The final exam is cumulative
This course was extremely difficult and convoluted. The lectures are hundreds of slides long (which she never finishes in class), there are required textbook and article readings, and none of the discussed information is on the exams. She covers unnecessary content which does not show up on the tests. Avoid this professor.
An unreasonably hard class. She never finishes her lectures, is very disorganized, and nothing that we do in class help at all during the exams, which makes up the majority of the overall grade. Worst part is that she doesn't curve even though her class averages are in the 60s range. Highly recommend you take this course with another professor.
This is by far the worst professor I've ever had. As many reviews mention on here, her lectures are 100+ slides, she never finishes on time and her exams are extremely hard. If it was not for the 4 TA's she has helping her idk how many of us would've understood most of the material. PLZZZ avoid this professor.
Dr. Mori hardly offered any extra credit, and the extra credit allowed was only 10 points at most for the semester. There was some opportunity for unlimited bonus points, but they had to be won in games we played, which I found ridiculous since only certain people would win them in a time-based competition. I regret taking this class so much.
Dr. Mori is a good professor for those who don't mind being self-thought. She is not well organized, and she expects you to memorize a lot of detailed information. She does not seem like a professor who genuinely loves her job, If you want a passionate professor she is not, she was the first psyc professor I did not enjoy.
Avoid taking this Professor at all costs. Unreasonably hard for what is supposed to be considered a fun and interesting course. Get ready to self teach as each lecture is 100 slides and she only actually goes over about 20.
For more than half of the semester, she did not come in the class room and taught over zoom while students were required to come to class. Not what I signed up for. Alot of self teaching is required. Extremely difficult Professor for an interesting class. A lot of interesting guest speakers though! Take another Professor for this class.
Tough class with an unorganized professor. Lots of self-teaching required. Highly recommend using unstuck study and other study tools like ChatGPT to supplement the heavy content. Guest speakers make it somewhat worth it.
This professor turned an otherwise fun and interesting class into one that is the complete opposite. When it comes to absences she will mark down your grade regardless of reason and makes it so that you cannot turn in the work for that day. In addition she is very rude and snobby about her doctorate title. Will snap at students who don't say doctor
Barely even teaches the class and puts materials on the test that were never taught. The slides she uses aren't uploaded and that's where all the info is. The guest speakers are cool but if you have questions outside of class she doesn't want you to ask her and could rather you go to her TA. Interesting class just that is taught by a bad professor.
not rlly a good teacher, she was smiling when talking about how 1 of her classes has the highest average, it's in the low 70's mind you, like u shouldn't be smiling that most of ur classes are failing that just makes you a bad teacher. Very lecture heavy and most of ur grade is determined by 3 exams, Guest lectures r cool tho
I don't normally write poor reviews. Prof Mori doesn't care about her students. We are the top class out of 4 with a 73% average the others are in 60s. She doesn't teach ab psych, she teaches neuroscience and pharmacology. Creates 100 slide lessons, covers 15, "runs out of time" & leaves you to learn the rest. Doesn't care about you as a student.
This is my SECOND time taking her and she is honestly the worse professors I have taken.100 lecture slides, yet always runs out of time only getting to around 15. Grade in class is determined by 3 exams and if you do bad on 1 exam, good luck. Doesn't care for students and doesn't round or curve despite most students doing poorly on her exams.
I dreaded going to her class because: -anywhere from 50-120 lecture slides yet only discusses around 20 -if you cant make it to class, requires you to go on zoom -tough grader -3 exams, do bad on 1 and you're screwed -talks too much about stats in slides Interesting class just a bad professor, never take her class even if its the last option
Professor Mori has been one of the most unprepared professors I have ever had. She basically reads off the slides, and expects you to memorize all of them even, when she runs out of time. The homework is easy, but you get more help from the textbook than the actual professor. It felt like I was teaching myself the material most of the time.
Professor Mori is the worst professor i have ever had. Her lectures are over 100 slides, but goes through a only a few. This does not stop her from expecting you to know every bit of information. She is hard to reach outside of class and does little effort to accommodate. The TAs do all the work and are tough graders.
Definitely do not recommend this professor. Her class average was very low and she did offer some extra credit but it was nothing if you didnt do well on the exams so it wasn't worth it. Her class was boring to me. Her TAs were also tough graders so that didnt help at all.
Honestly, just take the 8am with the other professors. This professors is absolutely terrible. Cant get through more than a few slides in an hour and fifteen minute class. Group project every single day. The TA's are tough graders, a little too tough to be honest. The professor is NOT helpful. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
Do not take this class, she has over a hundred slides and goes over ab 10 of them. Exams are nothing like her useless study guides. More than half the class failed the first two exams. Never had to drop a class before ever. This class genuinely made me dread school terrible professor. Please do not take her i promise youll regret it
First day of this course she said verbatim that she was the hardest professor in the department for this course. She would have 90+ slides per lecture but only get through 15-20, leaving you to get the rest of the information on your own. Would break us into group work, which is a good portion of points, but only give us 5-10 mins to work on it.
I should have listened to the warnings here because this class was just worth all the trouble. The subjects are interesting, but it is hard, LOTS of memorization, and things are more difficult when the professor is so disorganized and goes on long tangents. She does not plan the lessons well and her slides are too long.
Barely started the semester and I asked for help with the online textbook and she made me feel dumb and even talked to me like I was dumb. if u care about your mental health, don't take this class
Barely half way through and she is so lecture heavy and doesn't care about students. Our first exam average was 61% and she was proud of that… Shes so rude to students when they ask for slides she doesn't go over. She only goes over about 10 out of 55 slides a day and expects us to know them all for exams. Definitely don't take.
You basically will be taking this class on your own. The TAs do more work than she does and she yaps all of the class period and will barely get through 15 slides in a 100+ slide lecture. A lot of easy group activities during classes and was an interesting class to take learning all the disorders but definitely recommend taking with different prof.
I took this class in 2021 with Dr. Mori. I am now in my MSW program, and this is still one of the most comprehensive abnormal classes I have taken. If you are on track for graduate school, this class solidified a lot of basic knowledge early on and made later courses easier. HOWEVER, it is a lot of information and was a very difficult class.
I am a straight A student, this professor is so hard. She gives out too much information! There's about over 500 slides you have to memorize on your own, and she only goes through about 5 slides in class, most likely less. Please do not take this professor unless you are willing to put your whole week in this one class. Assignments aren't worth it.
