Lisa an excellent teacher. She makes the course interesting and the material easy to understand. If U attend the classes and do her assignments, your'e definately going to get an A. She even tells you what to focus on when reading the textbook....in other words what parts she's going to test you on..so you really don't have to read everything.
Palton is a good teacher. She knows the material and explains very well. She rewiews and tells you what to study for the test. The test are mostly from her lectures but reading the book helps. Tests are about 25 multiple choice, 25 true/false, and an essay. The essay is the hardest part. She sometimes tells you the essay question before the test.
She is pretty hard. If you are about to follow randomness then take this class.
Very dissapointing in every aspect. My advice- find someone else.
She is a great teacher and funny too! the material is kind of boring but it goes by quick I have an A in her class, U have to take her, u wont regret it as long as u go to lecture and take a couple of notes ull make a good grade, shes extremely helpful too!!!
This class is not hard to make an b in, only becuase she gives you a "review" before the test. She refuses to repeat ANYTHING, she's not helpful in ANY way. Her notes are all over the place, not structured at all. You get lost and then she won't help you understand what she's talking about.
EASY TEACHER. GIVES REVIEW BEFORE TESTS AND THE TESTS ARE EASY.MADE B IN HER CLASS. I RECOMMEND HER.
Awesome teacher but she is a kind of confusing with notes...she does however help you understand anything confusing. She also gives tons of extra credit opprotunities
Govt has never been a great subject for me. Currently I have an "A" in the class. Her tests are M/C & T/F & essays. She reviews with you. This was a 5 week class, we had 4 test + the Final. One paper due, plenty of time-3 pages double spaced. Take notes & use your book to clarify what you've written down. FAST paced. Lots of extra credit/bonuses.
she talks very fast and can be kind of hard to understand. but her tests were easy esp. with the reviews she gives before the exam.
FAST PACED...let me say agian FAST PACED. she talks fast but if you ask her what she said she is more than willing to clarify. didnt got to class except for the first week and the day before and the day of the test and i got an A. so all in all if you take her be rdy for a teacher that talks faster than just about anyone. but she is a good teacher
omg she is horrible ! She never gives any hints of whats on the test. O yea she will give you a review but study more then whats on there or your screwed. She is horrible with lectures...good luck you if you take her
I don't understand why she has any good comments. It's probably because all the other comments have been too mean to post...I have an a or b in every class but hers. I hate this class.
I would highly recommend Professor Palton. Although her class IS fast paced, serious, and your hand will hurt from taking so many notes, her tests are easy if you study the chapters and notes in class. I am not an A student, but I have an A now. She gives LOTS of extra credit opportunities so if you can't pass her class you shouldn't be in school.
I wouldnt recommend her. her notes are all over the place, mostly chicken scratch. alot of notes. which is to be expected. just wish i had taken someone more organized. i basically taught myself alot of the material because she gives a review before the test. i wouldnt depend on her notes alone, i bought the book.
Her lecture notes are HORRIBLE!To say they are chicken scratch is an understatement. The notes have no structure and you have to rely heavily on the book. She give a review orally but I dont see why she just doesnt give a handout. She seems sloppy. Now she does give extra credit and I did end up making an A. It wasnt hard nor easy just frustrating
you take notes every day but print them out before coming.follow along dont be affraid to ask questions.can be a very comical class.before each test you are given a handful of test question that WILL be on the test.never used the book my grade is between a C+ and B-.she does move somewhat fast but ask questions and you will have more time to write
CLASS IS SUUUPER EASY, just take notes!!! Do not be scared off by the bad ratings!! I took her for 2301 & 2302 & got A's, & i dont even like GOV! She is rly nice, understanding, & gives extra credit opportunites & bonus on every test!! Which are pretty hard to fail since she reviews the day before the test with questions straight from the test
she's an ok teacher. you have to take alot of notes in her classes, my hand would hurt after all of her classes. however, if u read the chapter or the chapter outline she usually puts on black board b4 the class, you'll be ok. the test's r ok n she reviews the tests b4 the test day.
... This lady is not one of my fav, she can be nice and mean at the same time. she goes fast in the lecture and doesn't give you much time to take notes. Her tests are hard, and she puts the trickest questions ever. I study really bad and got a C+ the only good thing is that she gives some extra credit that helps you. I would not take her again.
she is okay! If you cant write fast dont take her, she goes through notes super fast! her test are hard but she does give extra credit ususally up to 10-15 points on each test! some tricky quetions i think i would take her again but maybe not! Just an okay teacher!
Be prepared to take lots of notes quickly. If you take your notes and do the reviews you will have no problem in her class. The tests are exactly like the reviews. She is an interesting lady and always had good discussions at the start of class with us. It's a dry subject, but I would definitely recommend her.
Mrs. Palton's class is not hard but not exactly easy either. You have to take lots of notes. She also goes fast in her lectures. Her tests are not that difficult because she gives a review. But don't be fooled, everything that's on the test is NOT on the review so you need to study the notes as well. She also gives extra credit opportunities too!
She is a good teacher, but you have to study. This is a class you will need to work hard in. I would suggest bringing a laptop in and typing the notes because she talks really fast. If you study the review she gives really well, you'll do fine.
Ok teacher she isnt going to give you an A you have to work for it!! Literally! But she usually offers atleast 15 extra points on every test! Hard teacher but I actually learned about gov't. I would recommend her only if the better teachers are taken!
she's nice and funny sometimes but you have to pay attention to her. tests are based on notes & lectures so if you write notes you'll be fine. don't be scared of the ratings because she is not bad! she knows what she is teaching & if you study your notes then you'll do fine!
All I have to say is LISTEN! listening in her class is absolutely essential. Do not write all the notes she puts on the overhead, but just listen to what she is saying and write what you think is going to be important. subject is hard, but you actually learn something here. current events are always up for discussion. She is hard!
Listen to lecture and participate! She gives extra credit on tests. You need to show up to every class if you want an A, because her lectures are thorough and she gives out assignments in class that are worth extra credit.
She's a fair professor with obvious interest in her subject. She talks fast, though, so you either need a computer or shorthand. She typically awards upwards of eight or so extra credit points on her exams for quizzes and homework, but you need to be in class to take the quizzes. Show up for class and you'll be fine.
Not easy.
She speaks very fast, so writing notes is difficult. She gives a lot of extra credit if you show up to class, but the tests are challenging, even if you listen to the lecture and read the book.
DO NOT TAKE FOR ONLINE CLASS!!! she's not helpful. She will initially answer your emails ,which she'll always answer "read the syllabus", and then she'll start ignoring you. So you actually have to figure everything which can really risk your grade Also the book is definitely needed for exams.
Her online course is horrible. She claims that the class will have discussion board but not, other assignments she grade so hard that she wants you to fail, do not give you room to get extra credit. Online she basically is a teacher that you cannot learn form she only have set times for test and then ignores the class for the rest of the semester.
I am currently in her online course and there are discussions, assignments and short essays available for extra points. She always answers my emails, so the claim that she ignores you is not true. You will not pass the class if you do not READ the chapters before taking the exams.
If you have a laptop, bring that to class since she is a very fast talker and taking notes is difficult if you are writing them by hand. She gives extra credit often and if you ask for help she will help you. If you don't go to class and don't study you will fail, but if you do what you're supposed to you will do just fine in her class.
Loved the class and hope to have her for govt. 2302
Not a great experience in this online course, but an A is possible. She comes off as rude in her correspondence and seems unwilling to say more than "read the syllabus" even when the syllabus is unclear. However, this is an online course. Read the textbook, stay on top of the assignments, think critically and take the exams and you'll do fine.
I took an online class. She was really good, but sometimes her responses were not very helpful. Most of what you need to know is in the syllabus. I got an A! I'd say her online class is good. Read the book!!
Great set up online, extra credit work available, test miltiple choice, does not overload with work, 4 tests and a term paper. Email response very quick. Would love to take her for 2306, but unfortunately she doesnt teach that one. Would definately take again! You will pass with her!
Hard professor talks really fast. If you do take her do the extra credit it's what saved me.
Mrs Palton is a hard teacher. This class does require a lot of working and a lot of studying, attend class and take notes. I made an A
this is what happens in her class, you go to class and receive lecture, for the majority of the class, they are mainly ppt but she never post the ppt on blackboard and goes through them very fast not letting you time to take notes. She loves court cases but never explains and when it come to test everything you reviewed is not of use for the test
I work FT who went back to school to finish what I started long ago. Class a must. I took her over the summer and she zipped through quickly online and when I had a personal issue transpire that I informed her of and needed just the day to complete the project-her response was uninterested in helpingand was cold. SAVE YOURSELF, find someone else!
Pretty easy class to take, four 50 question test, 1 paper, and multiple chances to earn extra pts to supplement your grade. Requirements were clear. Got an A+ by simply reading/skimming the chapters the days prior to the test and answering the questions at the end of the chapters, would def recommend this teacher if you need GOVT 2305
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PROFESSOR. PowerPoint notes are what carried me through the course. Her test reviews are oral and she doesn't repeat the question. To make things worse, the review is very vague as far as what she's looking for. She knows the subject just not how to present it. Do not take this professor even if she's your last option
Professor Palton's class is fairly straightforward. Read the book, read the syllabus and keep a calendar and you'll do fine. I wouldn't say she's the nicest teacher in the world but she's not the worst either!
This professor is hard. I tried really hard in this class and still made a C. mainly because of the tests, most of the stuff you read in the book, isn't on the test. Plus you don't have enough time to complete the test. It was really hard.
The worse teacher ever!!. You get a syllabus at the beginning, and the rest of the semester your on your own. No communication, announcements, or emails on upcoming events, and never answers questions dirctly! What a waste of money, find another instructor quick!
DO NOT TAKE ONLINE COURSE!!!! terrible tests. ReviewsPP do NOT help!
Idk why ms. Palton has such a bad rating. she is easy if you pay attention during lectures and take notes. Her tests are straight from the lecture notes. She also gives a lot of extra credit.
Class was easy enough to pass. Be sure to check the assignment tab always extra points to be found. Four tests and one paper.
Ridiculous
Mrs. Palton is by far my most favorite teacher at San Jac. I love government and she just made everything enjoyable she knows her stuff. There is 1 paper and 5 tests final is not cumulative but the thing that helps the most are extra assignments for extra points. I had a 107 thanks to those things plus 2 points to your entire grade just for voting
If you are not strong in Government this class will be hard. She teaches fast and you have to have everything on the powerpoint to understand the test. Only way I got a B was by doing all the extra credit and I studied hard for the tests.
Well versed in subject-but I'd only suggest her if you pick up material quickly. She has a pretty thick accent, speaks fast, and mumbles. However, she gives plenty of extra credit opportunities and everything on the test is in her power points. Beware though- she doesn't post the PP's online and speeds through them in class so take plenty of pics.
Difficult class in it of itself it is not too hard. She gives about 100 points in extra-credit - AMAZING. Do the extra-credit, try and you should get an A.
If you don't know the basis of the US government, the Constitution, who has what power and why... you won't do well in her class. She talks like EVERYONE knows what she's talking about. She talks REALLY fast, sometimes mumbles. Her tests are unbelievably confusing and HARD. But extra credit is nice. At least that's offered. DO THE ASSIGNMENTS.
This class was easy to forget about because all we had to do was study for the 4 tests and turn in 1 paper. She does offer a lot of extra credit which is a plus, but you have to be constantly checking blackboard for it. It was a simple class, but if you're not on the ball with it, much like myself, your grade will reflect that. Tests are VERY HARD!
A very easy online course, mostly because she will give you the syllabus with very clear-cut dates and guidelines, and she will leave it up to you to get it all done on your own time. Four tests and one paper (with very clear instructions); read the book and plan ahead and you will make an A.
Took the online 1st 8 week class. 4 test, 50 questions, 1.5 hours. 1 paper 3 pages, 750 words. All assignments are extra credit, and easy! Very easy class and fair. You can't look up all of the questions, so read over the chapters, and go over the keywords at least.
The key to this class is to keep up with the reading. You read and test, and all assignments are extra credit. Her expectations are pretty clear, but she's not very helpful over email. I would take her again.
Anout 5 tests, very difficult... Actually have to read every single thing from the chapters which are so long and boring
You have to read every single page in the book. Other then that shes available if you need her. My class was online so her quick response was very much appreciated. I past with a B. As a single mom of three I was satisfied with that.
Professor Palton is an expert of the U.S. Constitution, and is therefore very good at clearly explaining what all the important amendments contain. Assignments were very clear and were fairly stimulating. There are lots of extra credit opportunities.
I took Professor Palton for the first 5 weeks summer course which was online. I did not know what I was getting into, but passed the first test with a 98. You have to read the book thoroughly, not skim it because you will miss most of what she is asking. Got an A in the class by just reading and having thorough notes.
I just finish her 8 week course, i recommend her the class is set up using Mindtap. She is very helpful if you need her for anything. Its time consuming but its very easy, if your willing to do the work. It will be a easy A
Professor Palton is a great professor. The test are hard but she gives a lot of extra credit which is amazing. She gives about 5 bonus questions that are worth about five points each. That's like 25 points added to your test grade if you get them all right! Didn't use the book much because basically everything on the Powerpoints are on the test.
You have to go to class not just for lectures but extra credit opportunities. Skipping will kill your grade. She goes fast so you will get out of class early but makes not taking hard. She does oral review before tests tells you what you need to know write it down and thats your study guide. Your A is earned
LITERALLY THE WORST PROFESSOR IVE EVER HAD. SHE DOES NOT REPLY TO EMAILS IN A TIMELY MANNOR. SHE IS A SUPER HARD GRADER. HER NOTES THAT SHE GIVES YOU ARE BASICALLY NOTHING. MY NOTES I TOOK WERE 10000 BETTER THAN ANYTHING SHE EVER MADE. DO NOT TAIKE HER ONLINE CLASS. SHE IS NOT PROFESSIONAL AND IS NOT HELPFUL WHAT SO EVER.
Give a lot of extra credit. Seems mean at the beginning but begins to open up. easy A if you do the extra credit given
Pretty solid grading. Only 4 tests are required - based on book chapters so you must do a lot of reading. The rest of the work is extra credit. Easy A.
this is the worst professor I have experienced in college. Typically, rude and doesn't respond to e-mails in a timely fashion. The class is hard due to content, but in large part because of her god awful attitude. ALOT TO Read. No study guide, no course content like lecture. DONT TAKE HER. does give EC, but its not worth it. DONT DO IT! BEWARE!!!
I wish Professor Palton taught more classes. Easy A. 4 tests over chapter reading and you're done. everything else is extra credit.
Lisa isn't a good teacher. She doesn't respond to emails, so you have no idea what to do for an assignment. Doesn't post a schedule, so you have to check in everyday to see if you have work to do and half the time she doesn't post anything. San sac has better professors for Government.
Lots of reading, no guidance, outline or even simple objectives for chapters. She may answer your email but it will be very vague & not helpful at all. The tests are super hard, you never know what to expect. She gives extra credit & Im sure thats the only reason people pass her course. If refunds were possible I would want one! I wanted to learn!
Professor Palton did not teach much of anything, she just assigned chapters to be read. 4 tests make up your grade. She uploads no powerpoints, or lecture notes. She provided little guidance in the form of announcements on BlackBoard nor did she have timely responses to emails. Be prepared to read and take a lot of notes. I do not recommend.
She's not the best professor but her class was okay. She doesn't provide much guidance and her powerpoints contain many many words and slides. She moves really fast when she lectures. All tests are online and all assignments are counted as extra credit so that's cool. Tests are pretty hard though.
Worst professor Ive ever taken. She openly mocked a student in class, she teaches Gov. solely based off her opinion. She is unresponsive, rude, and unprofessional. Her tests are a joke, with questions purposely meant to trip you up rather than teach you. Her grading system is completely arbitrary. And if you disagree with her, she will harass you.
She has four tests all worth 125 points and in total 500 points. We had to do one essay worth five points on the total grade and she gave at least two extra credits a week. Pretty straight forward the tests weren't super but definitely made you think. I took the three week mini course over the summer.
I took her for a 5 week course. Four tests and one paper are the only things that are mandatory. Class is not for the lazy. TAKE YOUR TIME READING THE CHAPTERS SHE ASSIGNS. Her exams are VERY difficult - if you are not good at critical thinking, take someone else for this class. She does offer extra credit and it helped out my grade a lot.
she gives a lot of extra credit so that boosts you're grade a bunch. All learning is done by you reading the book, no lectures when doing online school. everything is on quizlet so honestly you could copy paste and google search every question. do with that information what you will.
I took her course online on a schedule this semester and it was extremely difficult. Her only source of grades are the 4 exams each worth 125 points of you 500 points total. Her lectures are extremely fast paced powerpoint slides. If you are unable to write down all the intricate details, prepare to fail the tests. Extra credit assignments help.
horrible teacher for an online class. class is 500 points made up of four 125pt exams. started the semester off with her weekly assignments were NOT mandatory but extra credit. then all the sudden starts to take attendance by the NON mandatory work. When you email her about anything she does not reply. DO NOT RECOMMEND TAKING HER. AT. ALL!!
the entire graded depended on the test grades (open book at the time-I got a B+ because i wanted to try and test without the books). if you are hands off, just give me my assignments and get out of my way, this class is great. if you believe you will need some help, explaining things etc. then -No! she doesnt want to speak to you. unfriendly rude.
Legit we only had 4 tests with a few crappy assignments online for extra credit and attendance. It's an easy A but you get nothing out of it. She puts zero effort into her students online. If I could give her a zero out of five I would. Legit take anyone else.
This professor lacks emotions. Ive taken her for two history classes, her system is there are 4 test and one major essay the entire course. if you have any questions she'll refer you to her bland syllabus which wont provide you answers. if you study the text book you'll pass, exams arent on lockdown browers
Take pictures of the powerpoints (not enough time to take good notes and they are not posted. She advises taking pictures) Exams were very hard but she gives a TON of extra credit assignments t make up for this. I struggled like crazy in her class but passed with over an A because I did all the extra credit. The extra credit is really hard either.
The professor is rude in replying to emails and doesn't listen to concerns students have. Springs on random assignments, so if you still take her class be sure to keep an eye on her course calendar because she doesn't have a planned schedule. She isn't specific in instructions and you will only know after she inputs your grade and leaves a note.
Her instructions for assignments were very vague. And so were her replies to emails, when responding to a question regarding the assignments. The exams were okay, and at least most of the assignments were considered optional instead of mandatory.
We had 4 test that make 500 pts. She gave a lot of busy work but it did help you get your points. If you take her dont expect great responses from her, they are vague, refer you to the text book or directions listed. Which do not always make sense, I suggest doing group-me that's how we got through the class! Do her "extra credit" and take your A.
I was wary of the reviews before but I definitely understand now. I think the only nice thing I can say is at least she teaches you time management. Other than that there's no announcements for assignments, it's complicated to understand her site, and read every word of the textbook.
the good thing about this professor is she teaches the lectures very well like she takes her time and speaks very loud and clear. But the assignments are quite difficult and the exams has a lot of questions. She's not the best teacher but not the worse also.
Her class online was very simple. 4 exams that equal to 500 points, she provides EC assignments just incase. And also an essay worth 10 points. This class was easy!!!
Professor Palton is firm, fair, and consistent. She want just let you pass without learning how to think outside the box. Sometimes the test are tough but I feel that she cares about how we will have to use the information in the real world and apply it to our daily life! lots of extra credit so that you can pass too!! Thanks Professor Palton !!
She is a very good professor and responds to my questions as soon as she can. Professor P want just give you the answers, she encourages you to research it first. I understand that she really loves Government and wants us to know how it works too.
She is a good teacher, sometimes test are hard! She does tell you how to get extra credit if you are not doing well in her class. I know that she knows how our government really works. She tries to get us to open our minds to look at what our government is really doing!
I don't have too much to say, but She is very clear on how we can get all the points to pass her class. Sometimes her test are hard, but I know that if you want to learn how politics and our government works, TAKE Professor Paltons class.
The syllabus is clear and straightforward. She response to emails quickly. Great professor!!!
I have difficulty with test taking, so do the extra credit and you will pass the class!!
The class is largely graded by 4 exams and one 750 word essay, but the professor also springs random assignments on you that are only tangentially related to the subject of the class.
Palton is terrible at communicating with students via email. No matter the question, she just passive-aggressively tells you to look at the syllabus. Otherwise, easy class and an easy A. All tests were open note too.
Professor Palton is passionate about what she teaches which is evident in her lectures. Her class is based on a point system, for each assignment you get points if you reach a threshold, ex. 400 pts, you get an A and you don't have to do any other assignments. She gives a lot of extra credit so it's easy enough but the exams are difficult.
Professor P is hard but fair. She teaches you real life situations and how we it affects us in real life. Take her and you will learn the truth!
Yeah! I had professor palton too. at first I thought she was too strict, but then I began to feel that she is good at her subject and wants all of us to learn how our Government really works!!
I was surprised to get a good grade in this class because she is a complicated grader. Take this class if you want a laid-back professor who does not care about you being here and most of the time she is not here anyway. Focus on the exams you will be ok.
SUPER EASY CLASS. Pls take it online. It will make your college life like a breeze. The book isnt needed, just do the work and youll get an easy A. Me personally all i did was did the assignments(very few), took the tests(easy), and wrote a decent essay(just needed 3 sources).
This is a super easy class! Just read the lectures, and you'll do well on the exams. There are 4 exams, no weekly quizzes or final, and about 4 discussion boards, and 1 signature assignment essay.
Professor Palton's class can be challenging, but with the right approach, it's worthwhile. Textbook is a must, and unstuck AI proved helpful for studying. Despite vague instructions, stay engaged and you'll learn a lot about government.
I like professor palton and her class but she takes a long time to grade.
be sure to take notes. heavy reading. only about 10 items total due the entire semester. no contact with professor at all. easy class for credit.
Take this class, you will actually learn how to apply this to how our government functions in the real world! Not just text book. Professor Pslton is hard but fair and knows her subject!!!!
Professor Palton was very clear of what she needed from us. You read the chapters and take the test for thos chapters. Very easy as long as you take notes and read. I would definitely take her again. No surprises, everything is outlined. She also offers extra credit!
Loved having this professor! She cares about the topic, and I learned a lot of things about the United States government in this class. Homework is not required, but is offered for extra credit. She encourages discussion in her class and allows you to speak your mind. Very good class to take if you want to learn!!!
