Can't believe she has an MS in Computer Science. She prides herself on giving hard tests, but when asked about programming problems she dosen't have a clue. Gives women in CS a bad name; women have enough problems with the **** double standard already.
Mrs. Perez was easy yet i still learned some things...she was not too clear sometimes when assigning homework or tests. but you could always ask lots of questions and talk to her about problems.
Awesome teacher. She tries to help you out when you need it. She works very hard for the students. I learned alot in the course. Very enthusiastic.
Mrs. Perez is a very fun loving instructor, she keeps everything pretty much on the level and I am enjoying her class very much. She doesn't know everything, but she knows a lot. Don't be fooled, she's an excellent teacher, especially for new students.
Easy going teacher unless ur talking in class. HW assignments very easy at beginning but get more difficult toward end of semester. Show up to class everyday to watch for extra credit. Recommended for CS11
Really sweet lady.
damn it was easy at first and then damn!!! hard as hell toward the end. nice lady though, somewhat helpful. she gets off topic a lot so bring up any subject and she'll talk about it forever!! hahaha... i did that a few times. i failed her class though, i gave up after ch8. it gets tuff after this.
I liked her.
My favorite teacher at Delta. She's the best! Had her for OL CS 11. Everything was graded within 24 hours. Amazing!
I, too, think she's the best. Don't be fooled. Her classes are hard, but relevant. Topic is difficult. She tries to make it understandable. I highly recommend her courses!
She's one the best I've had at Delta. She doesn't hold back and lets you know it'll get hard on the first day of class
Best. Teacher. At Delta> Evar> EDN.
Does not write her own tests. Therefore, there are qestions about material that was never covered! When I asked her about a problem I had, she wouldn't explain why one solution was better than the other, only that my solution was right. Do NOT take this instructor if you want to go into the CS field!

Dr. Perez is a fantasic teacher. She will go out of her way to help you and give you advice. If you make an effort in her class, you won't have any problems getting a good grade.
I think that Ms Perez is an all around great professor. She was always there when I needed her help, and she always took the time to stop and explain things I didn't understand.
Eventhough Mrs. Perez teaches a hard subject to learn for most people she makes it fun and enjoyable. Thanks for caring Mrs. Perez!!
She's a good teacher. The tests are a little hard, if you don't understand programming, but she will help you pass the class. The subject is very boring...
She's great. All around good teacher, makes things fun but still challenging. Love her to death.
shes cool. has a level 60 dark assassin in Diablo lol! likes to game it up. tests are the only problem i see. too many freakin questions but are multiple choice
Wonderful person, great teacher, very nice. Understands when her students aren't following her completely. Homework is hard. By no fault of hers the book used in the class has bad examples of what should be done. Fun person also, great to talk to.
I can't say enough good things about Mrs.Perez, she is very smart and very helpful. Her tests are hard and homework is challenging at times. Mrs.Perez is the best CS professor at delta and will prepare you adequately for more advanced CS courses.
I don't think I would recommend her online class. Too many reports due for this class. The tests are really hard so make sure to read both the lecture and the text for the mid-term and final.
Ms. Perez is a great person who really cares about her students.Tests are hard, seemed impossible to pass- all memorization and all vocab sounds the same so its really hard. Just a few Homework assignments all semester. Great lady though.
Great teacher. very knowledgeable about the subject matter. If you don't understand something in class make sure to mention it and she's sure to help you with it. Her class, however, was fairly unorganized. Changed how homework would be graded 3x throughout the semester and shes so easy to distract.
Mrs. Perez is great she was fun and didn't always stay on topic. You MUST READ THE BOOK if you want to be able to understand any discussions. The tests are kinda hard, but she's laid back on assignments. I'd recommend her to anyone serious about computers.
Took her online class, i suggest speaking with her in person, shes very nice. Test are hard, ide suggest printing notes, on excel, access, power point if youve never used them.
She is a very nice person and a great teacher. If you stay on top of the work you will have no problems.
She is a very good professor. All you have to do is read the book and pay attention in class, and you'll pass. The questions on her tests are partially from lectures but mainly from the back of the book (she gives you the answers to all of the questions). If you really want to learn programming take her class
Ms Perez is a good teacher i guess. She is probably the most unorganized one i've ever had. We've only had 6 hw assignments and 3 tests, two weeks later grades have not yet posted. She often asked her students to remind her through e-mail to bring our grades or corrected hw to class. THAT SHOULD NOT BE THE STUDENTS' JOB!!
The best professor ever! If you need help just ask! Don't be shy. There are powerpoints almost everyday so get used to that. Make use of the lab time she gives you. Make what she teaches you stick in your mind. She tells you exactly what is on the final. So listen carefully. Make sure you have an understanding on the materials. Ask 4 Help.
Lisa is awsome!!! It's always fun in her class. Computer programming is hella hard, but she makes it interesting. I'd so T.A. for her. She'd be one of the very few teachers I've ever had that I wouldn't mind hanging out with off campus!!!
Very knowledgable. Lisa Perez will stop class and make sure you completely understand the subject. Also, Lisa will tell you thrughout the to pay attention to specific items because she will test you on it later... A+++ from me
Lectures were not mandatory, but are helpful because she will go over homework problems, as well as the materials. Weekly homework assignments were fair, and just a few tests during the semester, and they were of an appropriate difficulty. Learn the material, and you'll do fine in the class =)
She is one of the most uninteresting... She Talks in Circles gives hw and And doesn't explain what to do with it, And she only reads off her Power point, never going into detail on the topic unless it has to do with her.. I was on my own the whole time. She does not explain well, only how she see it to be... I don't recommend Lisa Perez at all!
She's the best. If you don't do well in her class it's your fault not hers. Very helpful and made sense of hard material. I learned alot Ms. Perez. thanks
This class is very CHALLENGING. Her way of teaching this material isn't aimed for a beginner. No study guide or in-class prep for tests. Answers for homework can only be found in the library with some pages missing-which doesn't help. Let's her students direct the class, so when most of them are sleeping, lecture can go in circles. Seriously. :(
What kind of complaint is doesn't provide a study guide? Study the material assigned. I didn't do good on the test, but that was my fault. She told us what was going to be there and even had answers posted before.
Very good teacher. This is a very hard class. Not aimed for the beginner. My advice to you if you take this class is ask, ask, ask. She does not grade homework but you need to make sure you know everything there is to know before the final exam. Make sure you show up to class if you don't understand the material as she goes over it in great detail.
Her online class is unclear and very confusing. Teaches bad classes.
Unclear explanations. Definitely won't take her again!
There was a lot of work, but I learned somethings too.
Best instructor EVER
her online class is SUPER confusing. sometimes she doesnt even grade her own students assignments, another teacher does, when she does grade, never on time, tries to be helpful but isnt in the end, half of my assignments are ungraded at end of class, uses turnitin without understanding the program, will NEVER do another online with this teacher
I took this class online. It isn't too difficult. I passed with an A and I only looked through the book the night before tests (or sometimes only a couple hours before). My problem with Ms. Perez is that our assignments were graded extremely late. By the end of the semester only half my assignments were graded.
Learned alot. She made learning programming fun, even though there was too much homework.
I am currently taking this class online and my biggest problem with this class is that no work is ever graded. When asked about grading she says if you're following directions, you're fine. She gives very little feedback and ignores many of the questions. NEVER AGAIN WILL I TAKE HER CLASS
GREAT(:
Professor Perez graded everything within one day. There was a lot of work and it was confusing at first, but she helped until I got it.
I took her online class, the work is easy BUT she assigns way too much within a week. The links for the SBLs are inaccurate sometimes and the online site is confusing to navigate. The work is never graded and she's very unorganized.
Great prof! Attendance is not mandatory, but she has her own way of teaching, so if you want to do good on the tests or in the class then show up ready to learn!
Hardley use the book(150 dollars). So much work to do within a week for an internet class(it makes it diffcult) I wouldn't recomend taking this class online because of the stupid sound byte lab she makes you do. It will turn off on you at times and you will have to redo all your work because it doesn't save automatically.
Most interested in student success! Awesome professor.
She will email you back, like others have said , she assignes WAY too much homework in a week.. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
The worst/laziest teacher at Delta. She gives way to much homework and takes forever. I don't even know why she has an email since she never emails you back. I had to give her a 1 cuz there wasn't a lower rating.
~ Best EVER ~ She explaines it until you understand.
She was most reasonable, fair and helpful. You rock ms. perez.
she is awesome!!! I recommend Ms. Perez, I have to agree with the other comment below me, she was fair and reasonable
She gives lots of homework so be prepared. I wished she taught C, C++ and Java. The best CS instructor at Delta!
Easy to learn.
Perez is awesome! One of my favourite professors ever. She's so kind and willing to help.
The class is easy if you read the book and do the homework assignments. All tests are timed but open book. I'm computer literate but not when it comes to programming and I easily got an A.
I liked the way the course was organized. She allowed plenty of time to complete assignments and take the exams.
Do not take this teacher online! I have had this teacher two times and if you have someone out side of the class to help you and do your work, the classes are fine to take. She does not post announcements, answer her phone, email back to questions about the contents in class, and she doesnt use the school site. I have had a ton of errors and no help
Awesome teacher!! does expect you to put your own time into learning, a bit difficult but its programming.. Shes very and willing to help when she can.
This teacher is awful. I emailed many many times regarding questions and issues and never got 1 return email. Final was over a week ago and we still have no grades posted and assignments turned in back in March are not even graded. This is the WORST teacher I have had at Delta.
Professor Perez, you ROCK!! Thanks for a great course.
Worst teacher ever!!! When she answers an email, it is snarky. She refuses to allow review on quizzes, so you don't know what you got right or wrong. The lab videos are outdated-references wrong pages in book and uses a different software version. Uses her own website. Won’t respond to questions asked on her site. Would give -10 if available!
My favorite computer science teacher at Delta. Ms. Perez is very kind and fair. She is fun to talk to.
There is like no activity in the Q&A forum, the professor doesn't lecture or regularly communicate with the class and there is no tutor services available. The only way to pass this class is if you already know how to program in Python.
Took the course online. Many portions of the course opened late with no notice of the delay. Automated grading via website shows grades right away but anything needing manual grading STILL isn't done from Fall term. Final was due on the 12th, now the 23rd and my overall grade still isn't posted.
Had a great semester.
Perez is a terrible teacher!! She expects us to know everything! Her lectures are terrible!! She worse then Zhang!
Good class. Learned a lot.
The class was interesting, useful and I liked the exercises. Wish there was more discussion.
By far the BEST CS professor at Delta!
One of the BEST instructors at Delta. She makes you work and think.
Awesome professor, good teaching style. She answers questions during class. I learned a lot from this class and feel prepared for the next coursess.
Mrs Perez is a great teacher, she is passionate and really cares about her students retention. Unfortunately (due to understandable family reasons) she wasn't there for the first half of the course ( 6 weeks). She definitely should have done more to get the class "caught up" after she returned because her temp replacement was atrocious.
Great Professor that had to work her way up the ladder in a Computer Science career the hard way. Very knowledgeable in the real world. Easy to talk to
This was a very straightforward course. I would not recommend it to those who are not self-motivated, because the content was largely textbook based - as in, you are responsible for your own learning. If you read the chapters and study well, and don't need a lot of help, this class is a breeze.
One of the worst professors I have taken. For the first month she did not put the class into simnet which had assignments, did not get to do the assignments until 1 week before the due date. Very hard to reach, late to office hours. Only gave 40 minutes for the final of 100 questions. Not helpful at all. Recommended if you can do everything alone.
She has the worst communications an online teacher could possibly have. It's hard to get a hold of her when you really need help. She accidently dropped me during the first week. Hand graded work takes forever to be graded. The final is ridiculous; 50 minutes to answer 94 questions. She took 2 weeks to post grades. The classwork itself is easy A.
Lisa Perez hands down my favorite instructor. She's talks to students like they matter and doesn't teach for the money. She loves to help us out! I would suggest to take her in class sessions rather than online!!
This professor cares for her students. I recommend in class if you are not computer programming literate. It was nice to meet professors that care about their students future. There was 10 chapters which had 10 labs & book problems for each. The book is crucial to pass the class. 3 test 1 final. The grader is harsh not the professor. She's nice.
Shes the best. She helped me pass. Class not the easiest, but it was OK.
I liked the way the course was organized. It was ez to follow and I learned some stuff.
The class was good but a lot of times the assignments were so confusing! I spent several times trying to figure out a problem for hours! And then realize that she did a mistake. She doesn't grade anything up to the last day. I'm done with the class and still don't know if I did good or bad. The tests and final are easy, everything is on the book.
Ms Perez is one of the best professors I have encountered in my two years of college so far. Assembly can be an unusual and difficult language to grasp, and Ms. Perez makes it very understandable. She also understands that it is difficult, and will cut some slack as a result. Highly recommended!
It is now the last week of the semester and no one in my online class has received any grades or feedback from professor Perez. I think it is ridiculous that we cannot get help/feedback or even know if we are passing the class yet! Other than that the class was pretty easy to understand and I appreciate that but no communication on her part at all!
She really cares about her students. One of the best at Delta!
UPDATE..(oops wrong score) Online - Standard class. Read textbook, do Connect assignments and tests. Some assignments to do on Word doc and upload. Responds pretty quickly to questions on Etudes discussion board. Test questions and answers straight from the text so READ WELL to pass.
Tests are moderately difficult, mostly because you have a time limit on it. Online hw due every wednesday, may seem like a lot of hw, but thats because it isnt meant to done in 1 day. You'll do most of your learning through the book, but she'll help you on problems during class times, otherwise you can skip class if you know what youre doing.
Perez is a nice teacher. She'll give you all the materials you need to learn, so much that it can be overwhelming, but necessary because this is just a hard subject. Exams are open book and one page of notes (front/back). No teacher is going to make this easy because it's just a hard class period. But if you study hard & use tutoring you will pass
I took this class online this summer after years of not being in school. A lot of work but had a week and a half to complete. I would definitely take classes with this instructor again.
I really enjoyed her class. There was a lot of homwork, but I learned alot.
PROS: Professor Perez is one of those professor you'd want to take and communicate with. She's extremely helpful and flexible when it comes to deadlines. She explains complicated concepts in an easy way that even I can understand. Cons: The midterms and finals are based on the book and are mostly about definitions.
THERE IS NO WAY TO GET A HOLD OF HER. If you have a midterm in a week you wont hear from her until the semesters over! She doesnt respond to anybody unless its the first few weeks of class. Other than that youre on your own. Its not difficult at all its all book based but not having someone to ask a question to like ... a TEACHER? Ridiculous
Take her for CS11 online. Easiest online class ever. Its done through connect. All homework assignments are automatic As as long as you finish it. Midterms are easy. Only issue is that she can take long to grade stuff and respond.
I took online CS011. Easy A class. A majority of the work is "redo it until you get 100%". However, it seems impossible to get a hold of her. She creates a discussion forum on canvas, yet she hardly responds to questions. 2 months later and work hasn't been graded. When it's not graded it shows up as a 0 in the grade book and lowers your grade.
Loved the class. Really liked the structure. You could complete sections early and move on to the next subject.
Super easy.. I took this class online and all assignments were simple. I recommend taking this class online since it is so easy. Just make sure you do all your assignments and youll be fine.
Great professor. Most lectures are her going over the material and or homework from labs and assignments from the book. Very understanding when class is working on a complicated topic; normally extends deadline to give student more time to read up and study. You won't pass the class if you don't read the book. Best and favorite professor by far.
Enormous amount of homework. Prof didnt have to do any work for this online CS class because it relies entirely on 2 different online textbook materials. You have to spend about $200 on online resources for this class in order to complete the assignments. If there are other professors available, I have heard that they do not require as much work.
The class is pretty easy if you read the lectures. It is so HARD to get a hang of her. Throughout the semester, I have e-mailed her 12 times and she has not replied to any of them. By the end of the semester, she had about 8 assignments she has not graded and one of them was from the beginning of the semester. Easy class but frustrating professor.
The class wasn't too hard. LOTS of reading. The only thing I completely hated was an assignment that required us to learn Microsoft office, powerpoint, excel, and a couple others. This wouldn't be so bad except for the fact that you have to learn all of them by doing a total of 300+ miniature tasks individually to prove you learned something.
Very very hard to get a hold of the professor. Not available during office hours, no replies to the email or phone calls. Lots and lots of homework.
Taken Online during the summer. Put in the work if you want a good grade.. Do assignments EARLY-seriously thank me later. The assignments are time consuming , but you do learn a lot. If you take it online, stay up on your deadlines. This class will challenge you, but in the end it was rewarding!
As far as online courses go, she put in less work than the minimum. All of the assignments and exams were auto-generated by the digital textbook, which you have to pay over $100 for. SIMnet was frustratingly boring. She had less than 10 assignments to grade, but she took ages to grade them. As of today I have all of my final grades except hers.
Lots of work, but I learned a lot. Thanks you professor Perez.
Best professor ever. Truly enjoyed the course.
Students complain about the amount of work, but it is a three unit class. I really learned a lot and would take again.
This class was overall great and somewhat easy if you are already familiar with programming concepts. I took it online and wish I could have taken it in person, but I have no regrets. This class is taught using Python, the labs take a lot of time to get done and building flowcharts for programs were a pain, but you learn a lot.
Fairly easy class, lots of textbook reading. If you have basic computer knowledge you should be fine, very rarely do you do a deep dive into a topic. The tests and assignments are very easy, mainly just memorizing vocab. Only had to contact the teacher once and she responded very quickly.
This was a difficult class, but it has helped with some of my other computer courses.
Favorite instructor ever
I took Professor Perez for CSP17 Intro to computer programming and I loved it. It was a hard class but her lectures were extremely helpful and she always answers student questions on the board for everyone to see. Reading the book is pretty much mandatory because it is filled with so much knowledge that will make coding so much easier.
Avoid this professor. I only had to take her for a class but she is unavoidable. She expects us to know her material. She doesn't explain things well and is the slowest grader. When it comes to online classes she is almost non existent. She had a homework assignment due and she hadn't even uploaded the instructions for it. Only take if you have to.
Professor Perez is awesome.
A lot of work at first but it drops off after the first few weeks. its a easy A fr quizlet is your friend.
During covid this is my only class that has recorded labs. They are helpful and make learning the material easier. Wish she taught more of the computer science courses.
This class was alright. But sooooooo many assignments it's rediculous. Within each module there are like up to 9-10 assignments that have to done. The assignments are very tedious.
This class is stressful online. She responds late and seems lazy. I say she is lazy because she had us buy 2 books where grading was done instantly, whereas I have assignments turned in manually from 3 weeks ago that are not graded. We had hard work due recently and people were asking for help all week and the night of the due date, she had a zoom.
Professor responded quickly to email questoins. Helped on the most difficult assignments. I learned CS and enjoyed the course. It was fast paced and a lot of work, but was fun.
-professor was responsive and helpful -class is tough and theres lots of assignments -programming assignments at the end are really tough and seem advanced for the course. Overall, I enjoyed the class it was difficult but rewarding.
Assignment expectations were clear and grading was fair. She even held a late night Zoom for the students who decided to do assignments last minute and couldnt figure it out. She extended due dates on assignments when several students came to her having issues. She had videos explaining how to do assignments. Would definitely take again!
If you need to take computer science to start on your path to major in it, I suggest taking the whole semester and not summer school. It all feels rushed especially when learning how to use utility programs (word processor, spreadsheet, etc) and when learning to code for the week we tried learning. It's a lot of work so be prepared and work hard.
I took this as a summer class. It was relatively straightforward and a pretty easy class. Was there work to do, yes, but it wasn't hard by any means. She opens all the assignments, so you work at your own pace, and even when she said no late assignments, she extended the due date on two of them. I would absolutely recommend Professor Perez.
Easy class, just a lot of work but that was bc I took the 6 week course. the assignments aren't hard at all but they do take some time to finish. if you do all the assignments you should be fine. professor is understanding and had zoom meetings for people struggling
Professor Perez was great! One of the best professors I have ever came across who truly takes pride in her commitment to student success. I took her CS 11 class online this summer and i couldn't ask for a better online flexible class. She always replied back in time, was very understandable, and really nice.
Professor Perez was a really nice teacher. She responds promptly to questions and even extended due dates and held a zoom session for those who needed it. If you read well and do all assignments, you can easily get a good grade. If you take the summer session, be prepared for a LOT of work. I recommend taking the semester-long course if possible.
Lots of work but its very easy work. Tests are long but again also pretty easy. Only 4 exams and the rest were assignments. Some assignment only took 10 minutes some took a lot longer. Grading was very clear as well as expectations on due dates. Very well organized and very doable over the summer.
I took this class in the summer and it was fast-paced, but doable. All expectations were clearly defined and the professor answered all questions quickly and competently.
Professor Perez has made me think of computer science in a different positive light. Was a little nervous about coding but she took the time out at 10pm one night to zoom w people that had questions and made it smoother for us as a class to learn and ask all the questions. Shes very Fair, Supportive and I appreciate her responding to all questions
This was a really good, organized course. The professor was nice, caring, and I learned a lot more than I thought I would.
She was really fair. There were a lot of assignments because it was six weeks. I liked how the class was organized and that there were discussions with other students.
She is a good teacher as long as you get help from her when you need it. If you don't understand something, ask for help. Homework is hefty but if done consistently then you won't really feel the pressure of the deadline. Overall easily would and will take it again. (trust me :)
OK.... no more updates on Lisa Perez
This class is very easy, the first chapters are a lot of basic stuff and it does not get harder than that. Does not have lectures, only the digital book. There are a lot of assignments but if you do it with time, you should be fine.
Does not communicate with you at all
I took CSP 28A the spring of 2022 and Professor is helpful and kind person you can meet. She gave me A- surprisingly and Im happy that she looked at my hard work and gave me that grade. This is C# coding and you use visual basic which is difficult but try to find solution somehow but the professor will help you.
Lots of assignments. She helped me when I asked.
Professor is late to respond to matters. Doesn't help much-mostly expects us to go off what the book says. As a professor, you have to teach/guide students. She was not able to offer that. I felt that asking questions was a lot for her. This will be my 2nd time taking her course bc I think she is the only one to teach it. I rely on youtube now.
This professor is lazy regarding to emails as she responds to your email late or few days. I had to take this class because it's required for my major & the assignments is little disorganized. The lab assignments is easy to follow as she has videos and tutorial videos were helpful at times. I wish she would retire so someone can take her place.
All learning will be done on your own by reading a textbook and applying that knowledge from the textbook by following the instructions of a lab manual. No guided instructions from the professor, no help from the professor, and no response from the professor until 3-5 days later after you've messaged her. Youtube and colleagues are your professors.
Her class is organized and easy to follow.
I only had to take this class for my major and she is the only professor teaching this class. The exams are proctored by Respondus Lockdown Browser which prevents you from cheating for the multiple choice questions while the coding part is not proctored which is a good thing. With that said be sure to read the textbook because you can't cheat.
Doesn't seem to keep up with emails. Responds pretty late to any questions you have and for the most part, you're teaching yourself. The course is already laid out to the point where she doesn't really do anything sadly.
Prof. Perez only relies on mcgraw hill. I had to spend $200+. At the end of the semester she gives programming assignments that aren't clear on the instructions, especially because she uses terms that she's never teached. Responds late to emails, and not helpful. Assignments can take 3 hrs + so you cannot procrastinate.
This professor does not teach. she uses McGraw hill which takes hours (3 hrs on average) just for an assignment. She directs you to tutoring that is available and doesn't actually teach. Comes off as lazy. Wouldn't recommend it. Shame that she is the only professor for this class.
I would take her class because it was hard but she does give a lot of work one assignment take you at least 2 hours plus. But if you do the assignments the grade is 100% and she gives like 4 test which are not hard but you get 50 minutes for 60 questions.
Dropped because I failed the midterm. Not responsive to emails in a timely manner, doesn't explain anything or even have all the information you need up on the modules for homework. There are no lectures, only the textbook. There are no helpful videos or audios. It is a self-taught class. Do not recommend unless it is the only class available.
This professor mostly lets the student rely heavily on the book. There are no lectures, however, you are provided with the material. You are expected to learn code through the book and resources she gave you. She never really reached out for online lectures except for a few times during the semester.
Few assignments but lots of reading. Text is expensive and lacks explanation to help you understand material. Proctored exam and midterm that aren't graded even over a month later, no communication. 20 minutes for a 30 question exam. Guided labs that don't explain the program just show you how and what to write. Course entirely self-taught. Avoid!
I don't understand why so many of you like her so much. I'm not going to pass this class because assembly is hard as the book is awful, she never respond to emails as she's lazy, question midterm and final exam is proctored while the coding exam is not, and this class is self-taught. I wish this teacher would retire and it's a shame.
I blame and wasted my time at SJDC for having bad CS professor like this! My recommendation is to take CS classes in another school.
She does not respond to emails AT ALL. Everything is self taught through a very expensive textbook you have to SUBSCRIBE to online. Do not recommend. PERIOD.
Prof. Perez had a great self-paced course. If you don't finish an assignment, it is because you didn't plan.
very lazy professor, does not engage with her students. Never responds to emails.
Late grader, Lazy professor, Never responds to emails, Self-Taught class, assignments aren't too hard but take a REALLY long time.
I don't understand why she is good but she doesn't respond to emails, she is very lazy, and doesn't even teach as you are mostly teaching yourself as you need to purchase a textbook. I end up taking her class because of the good ratings but she is totally the opposite. Very unfortunate that there is no way to avoid her or any professor.
Do not take this professor, lazy teacher and her assignments were difficult as she never respond to emails.
She kinda mid tbh, almost as mid as Birmingham when it comes to receiving tough questions on the former's multiple choice tests. It takes a complaint to get her to respond to your email if it's been more than 48 business hours. Sometimes she responds quickly. Tbh just skim some of the chapters to see how registers and instructions work.
I have never given so much effort towards a class, only to fail. I am an A and B average student. There has to be an issue with how she doesn't teach. She takes a long time to grade exams and never responds to emails and this class is self-teaching and video guide labs that don't explain the program. Just show you how and what to write.
I had Professor Perez for CS11 she was a good teacher and was caring. I took her summer 2023.She did zooms for her classes when we didn't understand or when we needed help with some homework as well. (I feel like I'm a student who can easily procrastinate or do bad on test, so I was nervous of failing). If you do your part in the class you will pass
DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE CLASSES she is completely unreachable, offers no extensions whatsoever - EVEN WHEN THE PROBLEM IS ON HER END. Confusing and extremely disorganized canvas shell too.
Lisa and Mel do not teach so much as suggest that learning is possible. Despite their inadequate teaching styles, they grade with an iron fist. Help is available if you can decode what Mel is trying to tell you, which is a language in itself. I urge you to take Assembly Language elsewhere.
DO NOT GO TO DELTA FOR COMPUTER SCIENCE Lisa and Mel are unprofessional/bad teachers. Mel was rude every time I asked for help. Lectures are a show-n-tell with no explanation. When I went to either of them for help their explanations made little sense. Exams are bogus, and the highest grade for the midterm was a D. SAVE YOURSELF GO SOMEHWERE ELSE.
Lisa does not teach. How could you consider yourself a professor if you don't teach the material? Large amounts of homework due with no explanation.
Something needs to be done about San Joaquin Delta College's computer science program. It's robbing students of foundational knowledge and harming their skillset for the workforce.
Take this class at a different college
Her course was fun, it was not hard but the homework took away a lot of my time, I just wish we didn't need to purchase the service where we take the exams, do the homework and use the textbook, another thing is that the exams were the only ones which were not open book so make sure to study!
The teacher is basically nonexistent, but the textbook for the class is very straightforward, and so are the tests. I HIGHLY recommend making a discord group with your classmates, because you WILL have to depend on each other for help, rather than the teacher. If you struggle to self teach, I don't recommend taking this. Heavy workload.
This was the first time I took Professor Perez, and it was a great semester. I thought it might be difficult because it was online; however, being online helped me greatly with my hectic life outside of school. There were a lot of homework assignments, but doing them will help if you do not do well on the final.
I took this class over the summer for 6-weeks. The course was quite heavy but she gives you lots of time to finish. The course was quite easy but I would say you teach yourself. The professor responds quickly to emails but she does not teach any of the material. I would recommend taking this course but be ready to learn the material and read A LOT!
Easy class. Alot of assignments but given a week-ish to do them. Proctored tests & a page of notes allowed only con was for the few assignments that weren't auto graded she didnt grade before the final and one or two still aren't graded and the class ended two days ago.. takes a while to respond to emails but overall the class is easy. TAKE HER
not empathetic and the professor says one thing but does something else. hated the class
Avoid this class if possible - the professor's teaching style leaves a lot to be desired. The lectures are confusing, and getting help from the instructor is a struggle. Consider using unstuck ai and other resources to supplement your learning.
Before taking this class, understand that the there is a lot of homework! You need to submit on time. You need to make time and always be on top the assignments or else you will fall behind and play catch up. Everything is online the professor is non existent and will take awhile to respond. Midterms and exams are proctored.
Professor Perez is great, though there are no lectures, textbook is needed to purchase as well as where you'll need to submit your homework, with lots of hands-on homework, the mid-term and final are open book but timed, and participation in discussion posts are important, the course is good if you don't mind learning on your own.
