She is a great teacher. She covers what is going to be on the test and her notes are easy to follow. It is one of the only classes I don't fall asleep in!! She is by far my favourite teacher this semester.
She's fantastic. Her notes are clear, uncomplicated and interesting. She gives relative examples and doesn't expect you to read and memorize everything in the textbook. Great prof!
Her class was significantly easier than Harrington's and she's one of the nicest people I've ever met. Love her to death.
Dr. Prichard is very nice. How nice?? she gives 10 min break duirng every lecture. Her exam was straight forward and easy as long as you have studied her notes.
She is a very good prof and nice to look at.
An excellent professor and who is extremely dedicated to her students. My best prof this semester!
The midterm was really easy but her notes are kinda crappy because she doesn't know how to use punctuation...nor does she have a good vocab to express herself, but the course is pretty easy...her class had the highest average
I thought she was really good. Definately a class where the curve speads you out though, the final was really easy. It seemed like she really wanted to keep students interested in the subject matter, and talked about things like diabetes, rather than just everything in theory.
awesome prof especially for her first time teaching this course. Her notes were really detailed and easy to follow. Class average is quite high so you need a very high percentage to do well
Reallly easy class, too bad its curved so u make a mistake and u're falling down a big mountain...lol. Shes an awesome prof however and her tests will likely get harder (first year teaching I think)
Super awesome prof!! She is so nice and helpful!
She's gives good notes and lots of explains. Her exams are straight forward, if you know your stuff. Dont slack off and go to the seminars, I didnt and I did horrible.
She was very good at giving us the information in a clear and understandable manner
No breaks in our lecture! She's a very nice professor, and very helpful... sometimes, though, her lectures can get boring. When she gives real-life examples, though, it's great.
Her notes are awesome, they're fill in the blank when you print them off the net and very clear. She is very helpfull and super nice. One of the best profs I've had. I would deffinately reccomend her!
She gives really good notes, her tests aren't bad, and she is very helpful.
ok shes not as great as people are making her seem, yes its an easy course but it does not have to be that boring. if theres another prof teaching the course when u take bio 107 try to get into their class.......unless you enjoy boredom
Classes were boring but if you are interested in learning (or getting an A), at least listening to her made everything clear. And her workshop questions made exams easier!
She teaches us like we're idiots in grade 2. She's showed us a picture for EVERYTHING...she's good for people who either aren't in sciences or have trouble grasping things. I found her to be pretty boring with how dumb her explanations were...and she really had no idea what she was talking about eit
Man, I wish all teachers were as caring and understanding towards students as she is. I hope her mentality towards teaches doesn't change because there need to be more teachers that are as good as her. Thanks Lisa!
Great prof, good notes, the seminar questions that she used aided my understanding of bio 107.
she seemed like she really wanted the students to do well. except you have to have basically 95% to get an A. But she provoked interest as she simplified everything and it didn't make everything overly complicated. Y
very boring
Overall an excellent teacher. Be sure to attend her seminars and do the workshop questions as this will help you on exams. She sincerely wants her students to succeed. Her main fault is that she teaches very slowly and reviews material as much as possible. I don't find this necessarily a bad thing, but some find her boring because of this.
Pros:yes she's nice & cares about students.cons: she doesnt know how to write good tests, instead of making them hard she makes them long. the averages are high so u need a 90something % to get an A. Not the greatest teacher but her notes are neat & tidy. GO TO SEMINARS b/c she bases her exam q's off them. if u can, take bio with someone else.
The prof was good I guess, real boring though. But then again we're learning about cells. I dont really care for that class or its labs. However, her exams were pretty easy.
Her voice made me sleepy even though I found the class interesting. Material was easy and the tests were straight out of the seminars.
Amazing prof!!
Excellent instruction, clear, concise. She works very hard to ensure students have the optimal learning experience. Approachable and down to earth, highly regarded
Dr. Prichard is the best prof I have ever had!!!
She's very good; sat with us in CAB every morning to help us out with any problems we had. Makes difficult concepts easy to understand. She was almost always available when needed and really cared about all of her students. Definitely one of the nicest profs i've ever had.
Great prof, one of the best I've had so far. Excellent and easy to understand notes, and the exams are straight-forward with no tricks.
Dr. Prichard is organized and knowledgeable. The lectures are a little dry, but there's a lot of material to be covered. The exams weren't that hard and fairly straight-forward, but because of this the averages were high. This makes it hard to get an A in her class.
She's a good prof, but she goes really fast through notes and it's hard to get everything down and listen to her at the same time. Overall, pretty good.
Good prof! Very clear when it comes to teaching even though the material was a bit boring. Overall, she is a good prof. Write fast on exams/midterms!
She was an excellent prof! She was very clear about what she was teaching and her notes were great! She was funny and had a wonderful personality. You are very pressed for time in her exams!
Excellent prof. Explains everything clearly, tells you exactly what you do or don't need to know for her tests. You do not even need to read the textbook! Seminars are crucial, as half her MC on final and midterm were straight from workshop Qs, so go! Her tests were long, but very fair. Nice lady, study and you will do awesome in her class!
Hey, you cant expect mitosis and DNA rep. to be interesting can you? Considering what she's got to work with, she does a good job, even though i did spend most of the class with a DOSE crossword in my lap and eating chips, listening to an ipod and/or sleeping, hey, i still pulled off a B+, her notes are all you need, really clear really descriptive
Very knowledgable. She encourages questions. Excellent notes. Print off the notes so that you can keep up. No need for the textbook. ATP! ATP! ATP! Know it well.
Makes a boring memorization course a little more bearable. Online notes outlines help. Not much you can do to spice up the subject matter, but she does bring up practical examples when she can. Midterm was fair, but a little long for the time given. Good final, with clear multiple choice and good synthesis short-answers. The seminars help a lot.
Shes a great prof.Always has notes posted ontime, and is very clear with what she wants.Class is very interesting, and she is very approachable.Exams are very straight forward, just be sure not to miss class, as she will tell you what is going to be on the exam from time to time.Notes are really clear, textbook is not needed.
she is almost to easy and nice
First time teaching the class, but did a very good job. Shes a great prof, clear on her explinations, her notes make sense and she makes an effort to ensure everyone understands whats going on. Class notes are easy to follow, shes very clear and makes the class bearable (8:00 am class)
She can teach very well (maybe a bit too much spoon feeding?). Her midterms are easy, final is easy (if you know the stuff). Questions are straight-forward, either you know it or you don't. I like her because she lets you write long answer, so you can say what you know.
She spoon feeds you any of the information that she will test you on. I have to say though that in my three years of university that she is one of the most interesting and best overall professors that I have had.
Lisa is great at explaining ideas clearly so that you can understand it. The exams are fair in that if you know the stuff then you will do well in the class. I really enjoyed bio 107 and would take another class that Lisa lectures. She has made the university experience that much better and by far my favorite Prof of all! Good job to Lisa!
Prichard was great:) Her notes were clear (printable pages from the internet with fill-in-the-blanks) she explained concepts well and exams were fair. Get into her class, if you put in a decent amount of effort, you'll do well.
Pretty cool class, she was an easy prof, made the assignments really fair, and the tests weren't bad at all. I definently recommend this class
One of the best proffs I ever had... Averages are high in this class so you need to study, her exams are straighforward and you pretty much know exctally what to expect. Lecs are good as well.
Good prof, boring class. Exams were fair, nothing you didnt go over in class. High averages. Overall a very good prof.
She gave a very tough final exam. Too much material for exams, three binders of lecture notes. It's easy to mix up those hundreds of plants scientific names, structures and other detail information in the exams. Most slides she goes over very fast in the class. This class costs students too much time to study . Don't take if it's not required.
Go to the workshops because she reuses most of the questions, especially on the midterm. Short answers were kind of hard but for the most part, good notes. Focus on the very last bit of the course for the final (DNA replication, etc).
course contains lots of material but not hard if you pay attention to what she emphasizes in class. most of the time, she tells you what to anticipate on the exams.
She really cares about students. She spends a lot of time explaining assignments and gives very clear outlines and rubric. Her first time teaching this course so the notes are not very organized to start with. Lots of information given but you are not expected to know every detail! Exams are straight forward & reasonable
An excellent prof. It is very hard to do badly in this course because she makes everything very easy to understand and emphasizes exam material. Workshop questions are used frequently on exams. Averages are high, so knowing the material thoroughly is beneficial. Nice personality. Lectures are very helpful and essential to success in the course.
I think that she was by far one of the best prof for my first year. She gave GREAT!!!! notes that covers everything you need to know. NO TEXT BOOK READING! She gives workshop questions that she includes in exams. Shes very clear and straight to the point. I took the notes down and ddnt worry about it until maybe 2 days before an exam and I came out
Great Prof! She is easy to understand, and gives great notes. She uses everyday examples to teach you. The material is easy and she loves what she does! Excellent!
Well organized, very clear. Fair Tests
Prichard is a good professor. Her notes are very thorough and complete. However, I find sometimes she oversimplifies some concepts. Her lectures can get a bit dry at times, but overall she was excellent.
very organized ... her notes are so incredibly helpful that I never looked at the textbook once!
Great prof. She knows her stuff and really wants you to learn it. She's really practical and offers help if needed. Exams were fair and she usual hinted during lectures what would be included. Notes just had headings and information would be filled in during class.
Excellent prof! The notes are organized and thorough and she really knows what she's talking about. She hints throughout the course at what is going to be on tests. In addition, she goes over concepts clearly and in a way that I could understand at my level. The review questions at the start of class are helpful too. Very approachable for help.
Shes a great prof, will give up her free time and days off to come in to her office and talk with her students, if you go to her once, she will remember you for the rest of the year (and more, she remembers me from last year). I didnt rock her class, i got a B+ but her class averages tend to be higher, her notes are just reallllly clear and good.
STAY AWAY!! This will kill your GPA.She was good in biol 107, but not in 201.ENDLESS MEMORIZATION that will make you pull your hairs out. I guess the prof is ok but the course itself sucks big time. DONT take this course if you dont have to. I cant stress enough, STAY AWAY STAY AWAY STAY AWAY! if you want a D+, take this course. by the way, Boring!
Contrary to the previous post, this course will NOT kill your GPA (I got an A). Yes, it was a lot of memorization, but so are a lot of other classes?? The course itself was actually pretty interesting, and I'm not even IN biology. Looking at the class distribution for the fall term, this prof gives out a LOT of A-'s, and VERY few D+.
Extremely interesting course. Tests were reasonable, 1/2 MC 1/2 SA, not all on memorization (1 final qs- design experiments to characterize a new protein) assgts involve lots of work- explain all background info, nice about remarking. difficult to listen to her explain a convoluted pathway and write tons of notes superspeed @ the same time
Overall, a great professor. I had her for 107 and was looking forward to having her for this class as well. This course has a lot to it, both memorization and concept wise, but Prichard gets it all covered well and is very good about explaining things or if need be, making time outside of class. Nevertheless, STUDY for this course, there is a lot!
Great prof, obviously likes her subject and knows whats going on.

Great prof. Always willing to help, had cute cartoons, and explained everything well. You definitely have to attend though.... exams right out of lecture material. Tests are pretty average, as long as you study.
Awesome prof! Very helpful, knowledgable, fair exams. Regardless, you still need to study, lots of info. Very dedicated to students! Highly recommended! (BIOL 380 with her a great class too)
Print off the notes and bring them to class, she moves quick! Study for the tests even if the material seems easy.
Very good professor! Easy to understand, knows her material well, and more than willing to help clarify topics. Her tests are of average difficulty, using questions and digrams taken straight out of lecture notes. I actually enjoyed this class :)
What a wonderful professor! She is always willingly to help, even when she is very busy. However, her exams are tough, so always study. I liked how she was always knowledgable and crystal clear in her explanations. Highly recommended!
Incredibly overated. Was not engaging or interesting. The class was boring, but very easy. Her exams are straight memorization, as long as you memorized the notes it's all good. Spoke with a very sarcastic, almost disdainful tone which was annoying to listen to in the 8am morning class.
Great Prof! Made the material interesting and easy to understand. Fairly hard exams but they are not too bad if you study. The greatest thing was she didn't use the textbook AT ALL and tests solely from her notes.
This was my favourite class in my first year! She was really easy to understand and made the material interesting and easy to follow. She had really good notes and followed them in class, everything on her tests was from her notes, not the text! Awsome Proff!!
Awesome class. Interesting material..and she even made it more interesting. Exams were slightly nit picky on the MC and matching because you had to remember details. Assignments were straightforward but time consuming, but interesting material to know. Highly recommended class and prof
Great prof, uses class time wisely and teaches what you need to know, makes her class interesting. By far the best Bio prof ever
Boring lectures because it's all overheads. Would've preferred powerpoint. Pretty easy course; not much to study for exams. Just have to know some basic concepts for MT and final from notes. I didn't bother reading the text.
I love Dr Prichard!!! Best bio prof I have had yet. Clearly enjoys teaching and always willing to help students. Has excellent, clear way of explaining things and is also very nice & approachable outside of lecture. Good notes, just make sure you come to class. Tests are not hard at all. Prichard is pretty much the bomb.
honestly, prichard is overrated! i hated this course. esp the lab! beware of the cloning lab. to do well..do her practice problem sets! final was a killer. stay away from this course if u don't have to take it. oh and ask ta for help when u don't understand the labs! i regret not doing that. killer course.
Dr. Prichard was clear and interesting. Her exams were easy if you just put in the time because they were pretty much straight memorization. Her suggested practice questions are important to do and her exams are based only on her notes.
Dr. Prichard is really great. Good notes, nice person, easy to talk to and understand. Exams are pretty good as long as you're prepared.
Best prof I've ever had. Good notes, easy exams and reasonable assignments.
Fantastic prof! Well organized and very succinct on key issues and ideas. Was a little pushed for time near the end of the course but ensured all of the material was explained thoroughly. Will definitely want to use lecture notes for this one though. Midterms were easy, but the final was ridiculously hard to make up for it. Cruel, even.
Overrated and boring. Could have easily gotten through this course on the tidbits of things you remembered from high school biology and a good sense of logic alone; lab was sometimes asinine but generally pretty standard. Dr. Locke's section was much, much better and more involved.
She's so good, perfectly clear with her explanations. Don't buy the textbook, waste of money, her notes are excellent and the exam is exactly off of the notes. Great Prof, really approachable and helpful. I recommend her!!!
dr prichard can actually teach unlike so many other bio profs. shes absolutely super at explaining things in the easiest, clearest, most concise way! good notes too, but you have to go to class to get them- nothing's online-i hated the course content though, so i ended up skipping it quite a bit so thats a downside.
Amqazing teach! Loved her class and her tests! One of the best test-writers I've ever had, a good balance of important Bio knowledge and high-calibre "thinking" questions. Awesome notes (who cares that they're overheads...) and very approachable, fun and interesting. Promoted class participation in a huge class of 200 or so!
Prichard has this textbook sort of teaching style which I find really boring and forgetful. She implies cramming and straight memorization, without any sort of in-depth understanding. Take her if that's your last bio class you'll take, but if you like bio, run away and hide! It'll take a week to erase any recollection of her classes.
The best elective I've taken. Prichard is an great prof that explains everything really well. Assignments take a crazy amount of time, but its possible to do really well on them. The material is really interesting, which is good for an 8am class.
I really enjoyed the course with Dr. Prichard because she taught the concepts in a clear, understandable manner. Also, her exams and notes were fantastic!
She's possibly the best professor I've had so far at the U of A
One of the best profs I have ever had. Made this class so interesting and got me really interested and wanting to learn more on my own. Her exams are very fair and overall i would recommend to anyone (Science student or not) to take a class from Dr. Prichard.
She's a good prof that is pretty clear on what to expect. Exams were fair, and she gave review questions to help prep for them. Worth going to class.
The most organised prof I have had yet! Her note outlines are incredibly helpful, she makes it clear exactly what you need to know and the pace is excellent. She's a good lecturer also and tries to keep even the dullest subject material interesting. Exams are fair-easy, just study the notes.
like what everyone else say, she is a VERY amazing prof! She engages the material, and makes it easy for you to learn from. Exams are based on her notes, and I scored very high even without reading the textbook. The best prof I had so far as a first year student! definitely take a course with her :)
She is awsome!!!!! dont buy the text book. i never used it at all. her quizzes and midterm are on her notes basically and i recommend reviewing very often because there is a crap load of info!!! and dont cram!!! i did this and i did terrible. Overall she is one of the best professors i have this term!!!!
absolutely terrible. Extremely boring prof that shows 0 enthusiasm in class. Her notes lack organization, making studying extremely tedious. Her tests have convoluted multiple choice questions that are meant to trick you even if you know your stuff. stay away. if you want to do med, id suggest doing biol107 and 207. this course is brutal
Dr. Pritchard gives very good notes. She has a sense of humor and knows how to teach. If you pay attention in class, you`ll have no trouble with the exams- the examples you should know are covered in depth during lectures. However, introductory biology courses are boring, so don`t expect the ride of your life.
Very good prof! Great lecturer. Her notes are all you'll need for exams. Lecture's are worth going to fill in the blanks on notes. She makes class very interactive and has lots of great examples. Good sense of humor too! Take this class with her! You won't regret it!
people find her easy for bio; but apelblat hard for chem? what's wrong with the world? she is the dryest, most boring professor in the world. Her exam questions are the hardest questions you will EVER do.
Prichard has a gift for teaching and being able to take complicated things and break them down and explain them in the clearest possible way. She really is fantastic if you approach her with questions and will do her best to make sure you understand. She's also super nice, and her exams are very fair. RECOMMENDED! :)
Notes are disorganized, and lectures were boring. However, she is very nice, willing to help, and her exams are generally straight forward. Good prof overall.
really good prof, tests are very specific so even if you understand a question somewhat on a test, you have to be exact
Great professor. No need for textbook as notes are clear, concise and have everything you need to know for the exam. BUT exams are somewhat tricky. Recommended =).
I got an A, but i still hate her. Terrible exam questions + terrible teaching = one friking boring pain in the @ss class. Worst professor of my first semester. She is so boring it will make you want to rip your eyes out and shove them in your ears.
The people who think Lisa Prichard is a bad prof are likely lazy and skip lectures a lot. I got an A and I barely paid attention in class (showed up to get the notes only). Exams are tricky. In class concepts are explained as clearly as possible. Class is boring as hell, but not the prof's fault at all. I recommend her. PS:The lab SUCKS.
LOTS OF INFO! not a fun 8 am class but you do get a 10 min break each class.... tries to help as much as she cans and will answer any question.. overall not bad
Prichard is a nice and easy prof. Her classes never seem to end though...shes too boring. I agree, the lab SUCKED but take advantage of it and the seminar because people tend to do bad in them...I tried my ass off on the labs and got close to 100% in them... so the lab component probably bumped me from a B (mid 70s on midterm + final) to an A.
She gives amazing notes, and tests directly from them. Sure, she can be a little boring during lecture, but she really knows her stuff and often gives hints as to what will appear on exams, so pay attention! Her teaching style is easy to follow for students just coming out of high school.
I admit Prichard makes it difficult to stay awake at 8am. Also, if you're not into cell biology, biol 201 is pretty dry. Her exams are pretty fair, though there are a few picky questions.
She gives you all the information you need to ace her tests in the notes. Her teaching is more involved than some HIGH SCHOOL teachers, and she always stresses the important ideas. A great lecturing pace, and lots of interesting and helpful diagrams/pictures imbedded in the notes. Awesome!
Dr Prichard is a really good lecturer- she's very good at explaining things clearly! However, I didn't find her class easy, I definitely had to work hard, and the class averages were fairly low. But she is always willing to answer questions in and outside of class (even stupid ones). Thorough notes, but alot of writing.
Great prof! She explains things clearly and thoroughly, and her notes are awesome. Outlines are posted before classes and are very helpful. Plenty of practice for exams. Exams are fair and not too difficult, as long as you put a little effort into studying.
Woah, a Professor who can actually teach! She explains stuff really well, and though her classes are alot of writing, she goes at a good pace. She's really nice and really good at answering questions too. Enjoyed her class and would take more of her classes. Midterm was very fair, final was a little tricky and I definitely had to work for my mark.
Have had her for BIOL 207, 201 and 107. Absolutely love her. HIGHLY recommended. Explains material clearly, gives great notes and exams are always fair.
One of the few prof's on campus who is not only knowledgeable but also a phenomenal teacher
Amazing prof!! Had her for 107, 207 and hopefully genet 270 next year! she knows her stuff and is extremely approachable, always willing to help! She gives great notes and even throws a joke in every now and then. Of course you have to study and read the text, but she doesn't make the class seem intimidating at all. One of the best profs i've had!
Had excellent notes. So good in fact she got the other professor to use them for the first term. Her final was stupid hard though and I regret not studying more. If you really understand her notes it won't be too bad, but the questions can be tricky (a-e often with 'a and b' 'none of the above' etc. so make sure you really understand)
Very good notes. Extremely helpful and though she may seems cold is actually very kind. Take her class.
Amazing prof. Ordinarily I find evolution quite boring, but she actually made it interesting. Labs suck. I studied my butt off and still didn't do very well, but Prichard's exams brought my mark up definitely. I highly recommend using flashcards for studying because her notes are set up perfectly for making them. Seminar sucks too.
Midterms and Final are pretty standard and are based off the notes given in class. Class is mandatory because you have to take notes. However, classes are extremely boring and mundane.
She has a similar notes style to Mike Harrington in 107, which I appreciate more than just slides. She makes the class enjoyable, and makes it easy to understand some of the complicated concepts by doing the funniest demonstrations with students. She is one of my favorite profs by far. She provides so many resources for the students to do well too!
The final is one of the hardest exams you will ever have-class average was 55. There is so much detail with this course but if you love the cell you will love this class. Prichard is by far one of the best profs at the U of A and explains everything very well.
Really good prof. Easily my favourite professor at the UofA. For this class make sure to stay ahead, read the textbook before class, and do a zillion practice problems. Midterms were decent, final was long but do-able.
her lectures and notes were very clear, looking forward to take another course with her!
Dr. Prichard is amazing! Read her notes and then do tons of practice problems for this class. Beware of the second midterm- the averages are always much lower than for the first midterm!
Prichard has awesome notes and you spend the class copying them from the overhead but if you like learning that way then she is a great prof. Her tests are difficult and Biol 108 is just really hard so be prepared for a lot of memorization
This prof is extremely helpful, being patient with every questions. The course content is super interesting and pretty straight-forward, with no textbook needed, which is a bonus! However, there is a lot of matieral to know and assignments are very time-consuming, so keep up!
Seriously, this is the easiest class you could possibly take for a 300 level science. No textbook required, class attendance is mandatory. Material is very interesting and she keeps you engaged. Responds to emails very quickly and helps out if anything doesn't make sense. Keep up with the material though, it's a lot of info.
Excellent prof. Her notes are very well constructed. Her lectures tend to be a bit dry sometimes. So it's easy to get distracted. Midterm was quite hard (45 questions in 45 minutes) but there are no real surprises in her midterms. Not sure about the final yet. So far, impressed. Recommended for first years.
This prof was AMAZING! She is very encouraging, clear and you can tell that she loves what she is teaching. I wish she could teach all of my classes!
Dr. Prichard is a great teacher & explains things very clearly. However, her exams are notoriously hard. Multiple choice questions are meant to confuse & trip up students [ex) A, B, A & B, All of the above, None of the above]. Not the most personable of professors outside of class, but is wonderful in class.
She's probably the best prof I've had this semester. Although she's really good at explaining things and is very clear, class can be boring at times, and you can get easily distracted. Exams are tough but fair, but I hated the A & B, none of the above, all of the above questions, pop up VERY frequently. Overall, she's really good.
Dr. Prichard is really good instructor, classes are pretty mandatory because there is note taking. Seems other people have summed up the exams by listing the choices A, B, C, all above, none above, combination of either A/C, B/C, A/B. The exams are fair but still difficult.
I had her last year. got an A but hated her. she was just really boring and monotone and her exams were always time pressed and very tricky. Still, not bad i guess.. just not my kind of prof.
Excellent prof. All her exams are based on her notes. Her notes are clear, thorough, logical, and they tell you EVERYTHING you need to know. However, her multiple choice questions are tough. They're very tricky and make you second-guess yourself. Her practice questions are helpful. She reuses some of them on her exams. Notes, notes, notes!
Great prof!! Explains concepts very clearly and her notes are very straightforward and all you need to study to do well on the midterm and final. Exams are challenging and she expects alot from her students, but you should be able to get a good grade if you study hard. Recommended :)
Dr. Prichard is very smart and knows her stuff. I was just disinterested in the course because of all the photosynthesis/cell. resp. etc. She is helpful. Her midterm was tough, final was easy. Print out her lecture outline notes and going to class is a must. Great prof and good lectures.
Excellent prof! Definitely one of the better lecturers at U of A. Wonderful notes that contain everything you need to know. Multiple choice questions can be tricky (lots of A and B, all of the above, none of the above), but very fair. Short answer questions are easier but thoroughly test your knowledge. Highly recommended.
Her class was one of my favorites, attendance is a must and her explanations of the concepts were very clear. Her multiple choice questions are VERY tricky so know your stuff inside and out. Her final was fair, it was mostly short answers so know your notes and study hard.
Definitely a prof I'd try to get whenever possible. Her notes are clear and very comprehensive, complimented by helpful videos and diagrams. She has an infectious enthusiasm for biology, and I actually found myself liking topics I hated in high school. Exams aren't easy, but they're fair. Understand the material, and you should be fine.
Explains concepts very clearly with great analogies and diagrams. Her notes are easy to study from, and for both the midterm and final, I didn't even need to use the textbook. If you are like me, and have taken Biology AP/IB you should probably ace this course. For exams, understanding concepts & application of these concepts is CRUCIAL.
Great prof!! She has great notes, I hardly needed to use the text book at all for her exams. Def recommend her you'll love her!
I am changing majors, due in large part to her. I came into the final with great marks from the professor who taught the first half of the lecture and as soon as she took over, her teaching style and ridiculous expectations caused my mark to plummet. Her tests are ridiculous, and her assignments are just plain tricky. AVOID THIS PROF AT ALL COSTS!
overall a good class. She is not the most exciting of prof but at the same time is not dry. Attendance is a must as she gives you note outlines but everything is copied from overhead. Tests are tricky, often able to narrow down to 2 but tough to choose correct answer. If you breezed though bio in high school, you should have no problems.
Lisa was a good prof, she knows her material and she tries her best to get it across with simple examples. With that said however, the class material is quite difficult and her exams are made to test your broad knowledge so memorizing will not do you any good because she loves testing you with practical application/hypothetical questions.
Kind of overrated. Did not like her notes, questions on tests were tricky. When I went to her office hours, she was not enthusiastic at all, seemed like a chore for her.
Great Prof, really enthusiastic about the material she teaches which helps keep the class interesting. Exams are difficult but possible with lots of studying. Notes are fantastic and very clear. Definitely recommend her as a prof!
Good prof- personable, helpful, wants her students to do well. Course is deceivingly hard though, take notes and go to class. Notes are available from a binder if you miss class. Used the textook a moderate amount, but not totally important. I wish she taught the whole course, way better than Raivio, but asks harder questions.
Awesome prof! I had her for 207, and she explained all the concepts so well. Much better than any textbook. So, when I saw that she was teaching a 300-level botany class, I signed up right away. Her exams are tough, but her teaching style is great.
People definitely overate this prof. Her notes are ok, but they still lack some in depth information. Her tests are extremely hard even if you study. I went to her office hours and she was not helpful, and not enthusiastic at all. She seems bored and disinterested! She is still better than other profs, but not great. At least she speaks English!
Prichard's notes are super short and to the point. You can't really make study notes from them because there's no way to simplify them. Because of this, you have to read the textbook to fully understand concepts. Her exams are all application and she adds scenarios just to confuse you. Doesn't post completed notes online, so you must go to class.
My recommendation is to NEVER TAKE BOT 380. Seriously. It may sound like a super cool class about drugs, but in reality you will be eternally studying for it because there is TOO MUCH CONTENT. Dr. Prichard is a great person and really helpful, but the course just blows. There are also 3 essays, so don't be tempted by the lack of a lab.
Material is easy, but there is WAY too much of it. This course is half useless history facts, half science, and you have to memorize: 61 plants (history facts, scientific name, active compounds, compound type, common name for each); 75 names of people & what they did. I counted these from my summary notes. Exams are 1/2 MC, 1/2 SA. Have fun! :)
Nice lady, easy tests. If you did poorly - you didn't think. I would argue the exams were too easy and she didn't go in-depth enough to challenge you. Take this course if you want a good mark, don't take it if you want to learn beyond the requirements of the course.
People who say her exams are too hard are just kidding themselves. They are COMPLETELY fair (although the final was challenging). This is not a class for complete memorization - you have to apply general concepts (while memorizing some definitions and ratios). Labs were great (NO lab final!!)
Her exams are no more than reading comprehension and dull memorization. Understanding will not help you in her courses. Don't take her if you need to take a higher course after hers.
Best prof EVER! Love her to bits! Notes were clear and concise. Very willing to spend the extra time and go through things 1 on 1. Super nice! Review the notes and you'll do fantastic on exams.
Her tests are very difficult. This is the worst biology mark I have gotten. The final is going to deadly. I'd avoid her if you can. I mean she's a nice lady and all but tough tests.
Lisa is amazing! She gave tons of review for the final exam! She made lectures interesting to go to and she really cares about her student's success. There are a few online quizzes to boost your grade. Exams are extremely fair, however, you do need to study for this course. Take Lisa if you can!
