She's really clear about what she wants, and communicates the material effectively and gives you a study guide before each test that tells you exactly what to study. Its a GE class so if you don't like history you just have to suck it up, but she makes it painless. Not bad on the eyes either.
Study guide before tests...attendance mandatory..book helps but if you just want a C you don't need it...she's banging ...nice body.
The lectures can be boring if you're not into history, but she's super easy. You have to write one term paper in her book which could be a little bit of a pain, but in the end, it's okay. Easy to pass as long as you try the slightest.
Worst teacher I have ever had. Her notes were all over and she was very unorganized. Students often had to correct her because she was giving wrong information. Half the class failed the midterm. I would not recommend her at all.
The teacher gives out study guides that pretty much tells you everything on the test. The lectures were unorganized but the tests were extremely easy. The class consists of 25% midterm 25% paper 25% assignments 25% final. There were 2 mid terms and she drops the lowest one. The class is pretty easy for a GE class. You should get a B easily
She gives study guides consisting of vocab words and essay topics. Not on the study guide? Not on the test. The book is much more helpful than her lectures. Attendance is mandatory; she takes roll everyday and gives in class assignments. 2 midterms; multiple choice, short answer, and essay. Drops lowest. Final. 1500 word paper. Pretty easy class.
She is very helpful and tries to engage students in her lecture. Make sure you read the book!!! Class is mandatory and make sure to check the syllabus on how many absences you can have while remaining the A. She gives study guides prior to midterms and final and make sure to take advantage of the class time she gives you when it's a review day!
I loved having her as a professor, it was easy for me to comprehend and even though it was a subject I had studied before in High School, I still learned new things. Her class is really easy if you actually do what is expected of you. She will not put up with bs, she'll just kick you out.
Great teacher, although the class is very discussion-oriented, as in she asks for student feedback during much of the classtime. Study guides were EXTREMELY helpful for the tests, which were not very difficult to begin with, just study your notes and study guide and you'll do fine
just like any other typical college prof. study guides are easy, test are easy (if you do the study guide of course). attendance not mandatory. 4 test, drops the lowest, 1 term paper, and weekly paragraphs. this class is super super easy. rain of gold is a wonderful book so just read it! i would take her.
Class is super easy if you attend. She puts the power points online, but the specifics that are on her test are in her lectures. She makes things very easy for you. Four exams including final, lowest dropped. One paper on a book, not very hard. The book is a good read which makes the paper easy. She gives study guides, know them and you'll get an A
This professor does not encourage students to participate and if you participate too much she asks you to stop.
shes banging
She was not very clear with her expectations. Although she communicated with the students, her feedback was confusing and not consistent. If I had the option, I would not take one of her classes again.
Didn't enjoy this class at all. Tests are based off simple memorization of random facts from study guides. Easily got an A but I didn't learn anything. I am a senior and she is one of the worst professors I have had at CSUF. I corrected her multiple times in class because she gave wrong information!
REally enjoyed the class and her. IT was easy. She hands out study guides. Just keep up with the readings she expects discussions and is not willing to help if you dont show that you've been reading. There are a few in class assignments. She drops the lowest test grade
Enjoyed this class! She's a great professor, but at times can be all over the place. The material is interesting, but you have to like history. The paper is easy and may at times give out quizzes. Highly recommend this professor.
Really cool professor. Easy A and she is extremely nice.
She's SO nice and sweet. You can definitely tell she loves history and is passionate about it. Material may be a little confusing at first, but you'll catch on. Class is easy and she gives out helpful study guides before an exam. 1 paper, 2 midterms, 1 final.
First teacher to give me a C in college. The way she talks during her lectures is near deadpan and brings no life/interest into an already boring subject. Tests on memorization (MC, fill blanks, short answer). 1 essay on reading. Didn't like her as a person nor do I like history--made the class twice as painful to learn.
This class is a GE class, and honestly, she's a lot better than most other teachers. Although her lectures can be boring at times, but she is a nice person, and grades fairly. The tests are difficult, because they go into specifics, but the study guide/sessions help a lot. She sometimes gives in class assignments or extra credit, so attend class!
3 tests, 1 paper, and 10 hw assignments. She drops two of the hw assignments. I would recommend taking her, she's intimidating but really nice and helpful. She offers a 25 pt extra credit assignment that can post your grade so much higher. Take her!
Pretty easy class, reasonable extra credit. If you study off of the study guide thoroughly, you should be fine.
While this teacher is very knowledgable about history, she isn't the best teacher. She rambles on, to the point where you're not sure what's going to be important for the test and what's not. She doesn't give clear answers and her notes are all over the place. Before this, I relatively liked taking history classes, but she made everything confusing
She is the worst professor i have ever had. She is not helpful, very rude, and condescending. One of her tests was over 13 chapters, way too much material to cover. She likes to single ppl out and will wait in silence until u come up with an answer . Don't take her! She is extremely cold and unlikable. Her class is not easy. She will not help u.
Do Not Take Her. She is rude. She rambles on for hours, just likes to hear herself talk. Covers ways too much material in very little time.
okay teacher, lectures a lot, weekly one pager hw, 3 midterms, she drops the lowest, 1 essay and 1 final, study off her study guides and you will be just fine
She is REALLY boring all she does is put up power points and talk about them. her mid terms were kind of hard but passable. Had to write a long paper but it was pretty easy. overall its an alright class but its really hard not to fall asleep in there
Took her for History 170B and she was amazing! I've never liked History much but she made it so enjoyable to learn and i really retained a lot of knowledge from her class. wish she was a professor for other courses! would definitely take her course again
Easy class, as long as you attend class and do the weekly in-class assignments you're going to pass. There were two midterms and one 1500 word essay which is a very broad topic so it is easy to pass.
Go to class and do the in class assignments. Buy rent both books if you want to do well in the class. The first test I didn't use the textbook to study and I did poorly the rest of the class I used the textbook and did very good. She's not a tough grader with the essay and essay questions just do what she asks.
Extremely straight forward class; come to lecture and take notes, read the assigned readings (there's a lot), do the weekly assignments (all of them or your grade lowers a lot), and repeat. She also provides a study guide for each exam, as well as the final. Overall, simple class.
Try printing out the PowerPoint notes because she adds on in class and goes fast. Review your notes for your test with the study guide and attend the review. THE REVIEW IS VERY HELPFUL.
I don't know why there are so many negative reviews. She gives three midterms and one final There is weekly homework but that's like a one paragraph paper per week. You do have to read and the lectures are very long, but if you read and try you'll pass. She drops your lowest test grade at the end. Exams are multiple choice + pick a prompt. Easy A.
Surprisingly not as tough as I expected it to be but attendance is crucial. I attended every lecture (once a week class) except one and almost missed out on her very rare extra credit opportunities. It's very important to pay attention to her Titanium as she updates things without notice.
Dr. Riggin isn't that bad. The tests weren't too tough if you studied. She randomly takes attendance and she's really nice. First exam is open book, random group quizzes and weekly homework assignments that are just 5 sentences on a reading. Not too bad of a class. She makes it interesting.
I thought i was not gonna pass this class, but i end up did very great. The exam was no hard if you read the book carefully. She also give 100% points on the homework. and the question that she responses to student was quiet detail. i m pretty sure everyone in this class learned more than just a grade in this class
Gives great lectures, very thorough!! YOU NEED TO READ THE BOOK! If you don't read it'll be tough to catch up. She gives very clear study guides. All I can say is that you can pass if you work for it. No slacking off.
Your grade is based on 3 exams (1 open book, 2 closed but gives study guide), 1 paper on a book, and participation. You have to attend class to do the in class assignment for participation points. Study guides have everything that will be on the exam. Heard bad things about her but she's really not that bad, she is very nice and willing to help out
I do not recommend. She is rude, goes off topic all the time and assigns WAY too much reading. Attendance is mandatory. She will stand in silence in front of the class for what seems like forever until someone comes up with an answer. Also likes to single people out in class, very embarrassing.
In class assignments throughout the semester, the points add up and can help your grade if you go everyday. Lectures are lectures, not to interesting. Overall the course is graded simply so just work for the points.
IDK if she's always this nice, but she made of the tests a take home test. The other two weren't hard but they did require studying! The book required for the in class writing is very boring but easy to read. She cut off lecture early most of the time. She can be boring and go from one topic to another, but just do your readings & you'll be fine.
The person below hasn't read the syllabus! The book mentioned is needed for your final paper and is actually really interesting! The class is great for a 100 level one. A quiz and summary questions per week, a final paper in the end plus a discussion to talk about what you learned. She is fast with email and seems pretty cool. Would take again!
Overall the class is very straightforward. Summaries and quizzes due every week. Quizzes your allowed multiple attempt so no reason to fail those. Make sure you start reading the book for instructed too get ahead of time. The book is actually kinda interesting and it is used for the final. Overall, average difficulty of a GE course.
She is really nice and gave a lot of chances for extra credit. Lectures nothing special but bearable. Three tests, some easy in-class writing prompts, and an essay on her own novel (was kind of interesting). Textbook does help for tests but not totally necessary. First test open book, and she gave decent study guides for the other two. Overall good
Class is pretty straightforward. Do weekly readings/ weekly assignments and you'll be fine. Assignments can get a bit tough because most contain a lot of details. Make sure to start reading the required novel ahead of time or you'll struggle with the final. Overall, difficulty is like any other GE class
If you attend class and write good notes you don't need the book because her lectures are great. If you don't attend class, get the book, she does great study guides. Make sure to attend class for study guide reviews, the answers are basically given. Book report is as much as an exam score, read it and do it. overall easy going class.
The in class assignments were really easy, she only gives them once a week, so you wouldn't have to go to class if you already had an assignment and you get the chance to make 1 up. The tests were honestly pretty difficult. The book review was easy, but annoying because its on the book she wrote so only has you do the assignment so you buy her book
Class was easy. Only complaint would be of the final assignment which I would have enjoyed the book more if it wasn't for a class I had to write a book report on. It all seems like a poorly concealed effort to stroke the professor's ego.
Follow all assignments and you will be good!
Professor has a total of 3 exams, one paper in which you read her novel & in class assignments. If you are good at history, this isnt a bad class. I am terrible at history, so I really had to work for my grade. She doesnt grade the paper too hard, but the tests can be hard. The first test is open book so that helps a lot.
Riggin is one of the better History professors I have had. 3 tests/1 term paper. I'm a bad test taker and I don't like history but I never stressed too much on this class, which shows the lack of difficulty here. 20% of your grade comes from just showing up to class. She's nice and also curves tests. I don't think you'll find a better Hist prof.
What's wrong with this professor??? She assigns to read two chapters a week, plus assigned a 1.5 hour long film to watch plus three response questions and a quiz! This is all within the first week! I read reviews here and I thought she was going to be a good professor but you have been warned. This is way too much reading and work for a GE class.
This professor assigns a lot of reading material. Make sure you read everything, or else you definitely won't pass. Overall, she was okay. Only 2 exams for the whole semester, and an essay for the final.
Great professor, gives really good lectures. The 2 books are mandatory for reading when you do the in class assignments, which are usually done once a week with a partner/group. Grade depends on those worksheets, 2 midterms and 1500 word essay which counts as the final. Last couple weeks are presentations so youll basically be done w/ class by Dec
I took this class online and it was pretty straightforward. Weekly summaries with 750 words or more and weekly quizzes. You can attempt the quiz as many times as you want until you get a 100%. There is a final paper that requires her book but she doesn't grade the paper too hard. Not too difficult in my opinion.
Easy A but annoying. 2 chapters of the textbook assigned each week & a 750 word summary about it due on Sundays at 7pm. There are weekly quizzes on chapters but u can look up the answers & take it as many times as u want. No lectures, but all powerpoints & material were posted first day of semester. SHE MAKES U BUY HER BOOK FOR THE FINAL PAPER
Took this class asynchronously, and everything that needed to be done in the semester was posted in the first week of class. Had to buy two books, both of them were used from front to back. class was simple. No test or quizzes, just do the weekly reading, answer weekly questions (750 words) and take the weekly quiz before 7PM Sunday. no late work.
Lisa was a great professor! Her online class I took was completely on your own time and we only had 2 things to submit at the end of each week. The way she structured her portal was clear and organized. She gave great feedback on assignments and the final was a paper. Super easy and not time consuming!
Prof. Riggin is a nice professor who knows the material clearly, but I had to put in a lot of effort in her class. It's extremely textbook-heavy and we had to submit a summary and do a quiz every single week. However, she is very understanding and I appreciate her for giving her students a little bit of time to make up work.
Professor Riggin was a good pick for History 170A she clearly knows the material. Her lectures are good and you can clearly understand what she is saying. Her class consists of weekly quizzes and a summary that is 170 words. If you do good o quizzes and give a lot of details on summaries you would easily pass the class.
Ngl the workload was heavy. Every week we had to read a chapter, watch a 1hr documentary, a few short readings, take a quiz and turn in a summary based on all that. No exams. Both books required for the hw. Her zooms were like 30 mins, explained everything well. She was pretty lenient this sem and allowed us to turn in summaries late w no penalty.
Easy(ish) class, straight to the point on what is required of you each week. Answers are all in the book and tests are.. you'll see. She allowed us to make up missed assignments at the end of the semester. 10/10 definitely would take again for an easy A.
Take this class! There will be weekly summary questions that have a 500 word minimum and a quiz following. The quizzes are straight forward and she gives you the whole week to do the summary. Each assignment is due on Sunday by 7pm. She is very understanding. If you have an issue, just contact her.
Professor is a very easy grader but get ready to read a lot & write 500 word assignments every week. You also have to purchase two textbooks for the class. You have a window of time to turn in assignments late & lectures werent mandatory.
Quiz and Summary each week with the summaries needing at least 550 words. The final is a paper on her book. If you read the book you should do fine on the paper. The paper has to be no less than 1500 words which is a lot honestly for GE class. If you do all the quizzes and summaries each week you'll easily pass the class.
You only get two assignments a week, summary question (500 words in total) for three questions and a quiz (multiple attempts). I didn't read, and returned the rental. Bought one book, but it was 10$. Take this class if you need it, trust!
Prof. Riggin was a pleasure to have. I'm not quite done with the class, but being perfectly honest, I have not shown up for one class since week 4 and as a result, I only lost 10 points. She accepts late work up to one day and is very kind, even to students who don't show up
far by the easiest teacher and course I've ever taken, light hw, easy grader, there's no way you can pass the class. highly recommend :0
Yes, it's true that she makes you buy her own book for the course's final, and yeah it's a pretty boring read, but she's a cool professor. The course is graded on a weekly quiz (which is unlimited attempts for a 100%), weekly summary questions about the chapters we read that week (3 questions each week/ 500 words total), and the final term paper.
TAKE!!! The course is graded on a weekly quiz (which is unlimited attempts for a 100%), weekly summary questions about the chapters we read that week (3 questions each week/ 500 words total), and the final term paper which is 1500 words and is based on her book. Easiest class I've taken. Don't buy textbook. Only need her book for the final paper.
quick homework and the final was just a paper. would take again especially for a GE
Super easy course. All of your assignments for the semester are already uploaded so you could potentially get ahead. Weekly discussion post and mini- quiz (super easy). Only slightly difficult part about this course is the term paper at the end, but it's not bad at all.
The class consisted of short written summaries from the textbook and lectures. It was a pretty simple class to adapt to and a nice professor who graded fairly. Quizzes can be taken early as many attempts as possible with no time limit to receive 100% of the points. One paper is due for the final with a good amount of time given to complete.
Dr. Riggin is a great teacher who grades very easily. There are two books you'll need, one you'll need to buy and use for the course but the second can be found online. There are weekly discussions that aren't too hard and the lectures can be a hit or miss. Overall, she's a nice person and caring, and it's great if you need to take History.
Good teacher, gives good feedback and grades quickly. One discussion and one quiz a week. Quizzes you can retake as many times to get 100%. Would recommend taking her.
Her class is very easy to do, each week was a discussion and quiz, some answers for the quiz can be on quizlet. There's a book you could buy but I didn't and still passed since she does have power points that are notes from the chapter of the book. I totally recommend this teacher, she gives great feedback and her grading is pretty clear.
Asynch Class: The hw is not difficult --short quiz and discussion post (300 words min.) weekly. There is A LOT of reading each week and occasional video clips.
Easiest online course I've ever taken. Only one weekly discussion post and one weekly quiz that has unlimited attempts. It does require a lot of reading and watching videos but you can literally just summarize the key points and that'll be enough. No essays or tests just one final. Easy A just don't procrastinate and do your assignments.
Easiest class! Take her, shes awesome!!!
Good teacher. Long lectures everyday. Onlines quiz however is rigged I swear. The highest score I got was 27/30 even though each question is 2 points like how! Unlimited retakes on quizzes, but still hard to get 100
SUCH AN AMAZINGGG professor!!! Genuinely enjoyed her class very much! totally recommend taking her for history. Great lectures and has a clear grading criteria, and the class was very manageable. Only the final exam and its short-answer questions. I would take it again and again. Thank you Dr.Riggins for an amazing class :)
If you love history; this is the class for you. All of her lectures were so indepth and interesting. Take good notes, her final is short essay question based on the whole semester and its worth a ton of your grade. Favorite class of the semester. But, I'd imagine if you aren't a history buff, this class would get boring quick.
Online class, pretty easy for a g.e and interesting. 1 quiz and discussion post a week and the final is an essay on her book. You don't need to read the book just skim. Easiest class ever.
