Easy best prof! Fair marker and puts the notes online for you to print off before hand so that you can actually pay attention to what she is saying in class (compared to other profs.) She keeps lectures interesting, and overall is just fab! ;)
Very good at explaining material. answers any questions you have. Tests are easy if you study your stuff. Love this class!
She's fantastic and very helpful, besides her class is always interesting.
I'm sure she is a competent Sport Psychologist as she seems very passionate about the subject matter, however as her skills as a professor were poor for this class. Assignments were not outlined and expectations were not clear. Perhaps with a textbook this class would be easier to follow? I would not take another class with her.
Lisa brings enthusiasm into the subject and genuinely cares about our grades! Class is always interesting. :)
good prof. Taught the class well, interesting and helpful.
She was a good teacher. Follows the text and is very passionate about psychology. Genuinely want her students to do well and had an interesting class. attendance isn't necessary but I would recommend doing so to make your life easier. She makes pretty dry material not painful to go over.
Interesting lectures and provides a ton of info. Exams are pretty tough (average on first exam was less than 60%), however all of the questions are based on material discussed in class.
class seems juvenile and easy tests are way more difficult then expected
Lisa was an awesome prof. She flat out told our class on several occasions what would be exactly on the tests, which made it a lot easier for us to study. I loved her lectures, you can totally tell she loves what she does. You don't even really have to study if you show up for class!
First not only must you attend every class but you also must read the textbook and STILL some things on the tests are not covered. Our first tests average was in the 50's in which she considered perfectly normal (other psych 104 classes were in the 80's). I enjoy psychology but I did not enjoy her class.
Lisa was a really good prof. You can tell she loves Psychology. Her tests are fair, and she pretty much tells you what to expect on midterms and finals. I would definitely take another course with Lisa!
GPA KILLER!! more than 80% of the grade is exam based
Not only does Lisa present the information in a crystal clear manner, but she also let us know how it can be best applied in everyday situations. She was always open to questions, and treated her students with respect. Her tests aren't an easy A,but being in her class prepared me for future Psych classes. She's one of my favourite profs at Macewan.
I had her a year ago for Psyc 104 and her class was so phenomenal that it got me interested in Psychology and I discovered my passion for it. Her lectures are very interesting and her exams are fair. As long as you show up to class, print off the notes beforehand, and write down some of the things she says in class, you'll be good to go.
Explains her powerpoints, answers any questions students have.
Tests are hard!! Too much information. Skip a class and you won't pass
I loved Lisa's class, she was very straight forward about the material and was very willing to help when material was unclear. She bases off the power points mostly.
Lots of reading in Lisa's class and her lectures are not always that interesting. I found her to be a hard marker and uses trick questions sometimes. She does care about her students though and she incorporates lots of optional participation into her classes which helps to understand the material from on a practical level.
It's a pretty tough class. I wish that she made her expectations a lot more clear for assignments. She just kind of posted them on BB with vague instructions. She's also super fast. She does have her notes posted on BB but I find myself copying notes more than listening. There's also textbook info on exams that she doesn't go over in class.
She makes this class fun and interesting and always relates the definitions to real life examples so they are easy to remember. She assigns quite a few assignments but it is easy to get full marks on them by following the instructions. She is a funny gal, i would love to her class again!
Even though I took her class in the morning, it wasn't painfully long nor did I dread going. Her power points clearly show what is necessary to know from the textbook and show what to expect on midterms and the final. While she does read straight from the slide sometimes, she does explain further, often with examples to make it easier to understand
Her tests are extremely difficult and even using the study guide will not help you. Basically memorize the entire textbook if you want to pass.
She is very clear in her lectures and you only need to use the textbook for things she tells you to read up on in the lecture. The online notes could be a little confusing if you missed the lecture. Her lectures weren't boring and she is good at getting to the point. There are graded assignments. Overall a good prof and I would recommend her.
Lisa gives informative lectures but her power points are not enough. Make sure you are reading the textbook for each chapter to fill in gaps of information. First midterm was a difficult with a class average in the 50's but after you figure out her testing style it gets easier. Do well on the assignments they are an easy grade booster.
Lisa expects a lot out of a mandatory intro psych course. We had to memorize much more than students in other classes and our 2nd term test was right at the beginning of finals week (plus we only had 2 term test worth 25% each, where as other classes had 3-4). She is passionate about the course though which makes the lectures interesting at least.
Pysc 104 with Lisa was very interesting! You can tell how much she loves psychology. However you definitely have to work for a good grade. Read the textbook because it will help you a lot and betters your understanding. Her tests and final are not the easiest but if you study hard you will for sure do good.
She doesn't give much guidance about what will be on the exams which makes studying hard.
I really liked her class, got me interested in psychology. Class averages were in the mid 70s, which is typical for a 100-level course.
Rogerson is a good lecturer and generally has interesting enough lectures. She was often a bit vague when it came to preparing for tests however, but I did find that good attendance and notes will get you a pass in this class. But on the topic of notes, bring a note pad as she moves very, very fast and your hands will tire quickly if you type.
Her class was the hardest one I had all semester, and I took it for fun. I WOULD NOT do it again, She expects students to remember too specific of material, especially for an elective. NOT A GPA BOOSTER, DO NOT RECOMMEND
Lisa is a great professor to have! Her lectures are amazing and she clearly knows what she is talking about. Her tests are a little difficult but not unmanagable.
Does not give clear instructions for exams. Talks fast & goes through slides fast, leaves no time for notes. You will have to have read the text before class to keep up with her lectures. She knows what she is talking about, but a little difficult for a first year class. I imagine she is great for students with a bit of a Psychology background.
She's AWESOME! Her lectures are really good, and she gives examples for all concepts that relate well to students' lives, makes it interesting. All lectures are posted, so if you miss class you'll be fine! her tests are reasonable as long as you study you'll do good. She gives lots of easy assignments to boost your grade! Highly recommend !
Super boring class, hard to pay attention. Reads the powerpoints in class without adding any extra information. Going to class isn't necessary. Stay home and read the textbook yourself if you have no other choice but to take her class.
Lisa was really great and knew what she was talking about. The assignments are really easy, but she does not tell you what she is looking for. Midterms and final were all multiple choice and were pretty straight forward. Read the textbook and do well on the assignments.
Midterms and final are mostly MC. Doesn't give ANY clues as to what to focus on, which is quite ridiculous for an intro psych course. She believes that anything on the slides and in the book are fair game, so prepare to do a lot of reading. Homework assignments are big grade booster (thank god) because overall the class was difficult. Wouldn't take
Lisa was the best prof I had all year. She had great lecturesource and was always willing to answer questions in a clear manner. I always felt super prepared for the exams as she had quick review sessions with our class. If you study the slides she puts on black board and read the text book the tests she gives are beyond easy.
I liked Ms. Rogerson! I took her psych104 class and liked how her notes on her PowerPoint slides were detailed, and how her lectures were her going over the notes but also using examples so students could understand the material a bit more. Her exams were difficult unless you attended class and followed along. Try not to skip classes with her.
Really nice profit, know her stuff. Wouldn't recommend taking the course, tests are all really hard and she doesn't even give hints on what is on the test, find someone else.
Lisa is great, clear, and keeps you engaged. While we didn't really use the textbook in class she does draw on it for her exams (although not a lot), so it can be useful. She gives great notes, and it'd be awesome to have her teach me again.
Lisa gives amazing lectures she is a really good prof however she is a really hard marker and I would not recommend taking her class especially for a first year student her class is assignment heavy and no matter how much you read the textbook and study her midterms are really hard she is also really vague about the topics to focus on for exams
LIsa is a great prof and super passionate. I definitely recommend taking her course. I would suggest reading the text book though as she does get questions from it. She is very cryptic about what will be on the tests but she does a bit of review the class before. overall she is great and knowledgeable.
AVOID AVOID!Her exams are bullshi*. Written questions are stupid vague, & when the whole class calls her out on it she'll be like "I'll try to make them less vague for the next time". which by the way she didn't. &She MAKES you buy an online version of the textbook because thats where she posts all the assignments.
I expected this class to be very interesting, but it turned out to be a let down. She expects way too much for her students in terms of exams and lecture slides are copied straight out of the textbook. You're better off reading the textbook outside of class. Be prepared to memorize every single topic and definition in the textbook.
Lectures are HEAVY, and straight out of the textbook, and her exams are TOUGH. So much dense material, and you definitely need to know all chapters in detail to do well. Final is cumulative, and you'd think tiny things from the beginning of the semester won't show up, but it does. Her final was probably the hardest PSYC final I've written so far.
Avoid. Lectures are pointless and boring, and material is straight from the textbook. Expects you to memorize every singe chart and vague pieces of information for the exams. Final is cumulative, 99 multiple choice and 7 LONG short answers in 2hrs. Questions do not reflect class material and doesn't give hints to exams.
15% is on 5 assignments so you can easily get 100% and guarantee that 15%. Found the second midterm a lot easier than the first, but the final was hard. Need the textbook as most of the short answer come from the diagrams. Has high expectations and so much material is covered, so you need to try your best to get a good mark.
Lisa is an absolute sweetheart. She is more than willing to help her students if they're having trouble understanding the material. Her tests are very heavily based from info in the textbook, so definitely read it. If you put in the work and don't put off studying till the night before an exam, you'll do fine!
It's definitely a hard class but worth it... she gives a study guide and prepares you for the final
great proof thanks lisa!
Lol this proff basically reads from the powerpoint and more importantly she never stops talking she assumes everyone is understanding and doesnt stop for the students to ask questions we did three chapters in 2 weeks from how fast she talks. I basically taught myself the material from tbe book because she brings everything from there
Honestly Lisa is a nice lady, but her power points are the entire textbook put onto slides, WORD FOR WORD. She doesn't put in the time to condense the material into the most important concepts and essentially wants you to know everything. Probably one of the worst psych courses I've taken only because of the prof.
On the first day she said that if you weren't going to buy the textbook you may as well drop the course because you'll fail- I didn't buy it and I am ending with an A+ but I went to every class. The material isn't too hard there's just a lot. She always shows tables of the ages and what's happening so if you memorize those it's an easy A for sure!
Lisa is nice and means well but she needs to learn to condense the textbook and not just put the whole thing in bullet form power points. She doesnt provide learning objectives. Expects you to know the whole textbook. Its A LOT of work but manageable I guess... still would NEVER take her again though.
you basically have to know the entire textbook if you want to do well on her tests, there's no study guides given, tests are too long for the amount of time that is given, and the final is cumulative :(
I was originally excited about this course, which died off after the first couple weeks of classes. Tons of material and nothing that was all that interesting. Lectures consisted mostly of her reading from her slides, which were dry. I didn't get the textbook and had an A- on both midterms, but lost motivation near the end. I don't recommend her.
I was really excited to take this class but this class was a huge disappointment. It was so boring and the tests were way too long. The final was 100 multiple choice. By the time I got to 50 I basically gave up because I was so sick of answering the questions. I would not recommend.
Lisa is chill, I did psych 105 online instead of "in class" because MacEwan uses "hybrid" style courses for psych 104 and 105, overall, 105 is much easier than 105, but if you take the online version over the hybrid course, then you don't have a midterm. On the flip side, your final exam is then worth 45%.
Being an online class I was aware of having to teach myself the material which was not a problem. Given that the finals are at home this semester I found, even though the test is closed book, she only increased the difficulty of the final with zero regard that not everyone can answer 120 questions in 120 minutes. Just seemed harsh. Good otherwise.
I took Psych 105 online and was not overly impressed with how the course was ran, with this professor. The instructions were not clear for assignments other than taking a test on Revel. The online textbook as it did not work all the time. The test was also unfair as it was 120 questions with a 120 minutes with complex questions.
Sports Psychology with Lisa was a super interesting class! Her lectures were a bit boring at times (I fell asleep once or twice) and I wasn't a big fan of the group projects, but otherwise it was a super easy and interesting class. There were lots of little assignments too, but they didn't take that long.
Did not enjoy this class. All the quizzes were just random info from the textbook, unrelated to overarching concepts and she was unable to give clear and concise directions about what was expected for our final project. It was supposed to be online sync, but it was taught as a bad online async.
I had no problems throughout the year but she didnt answer to emails very quick. I emailed her twice during end of sem and she claimed to never receive the first (which is fine) but was kinda rude/stand-off ish when responding to the second which made me feel like I shouldnt have asked a question in the first place. Not the best feeling.
Her quizzes and classes are textbook heavy. There is minimal lecture and a lot of textbook work, students are basically teaching themselves by reading the text. The questions are textbook specific and honestly do not have much to do with theory. I feel like im not learning much because she is not teaching!
She is proof that professors have gotten lazy due to COVID-19. She uses videos from years ago and her quizzes have very textbook specific questions. Furthermore, she has decided to make our final written which makes no sense because we have been basically teaching ourselves from the textbook. If you can avoid this professor please do!
The class itself was taught well, and I found that the content we learned in class matched the content on tests really well. She's a little rude, though. Makes you feel dumb for asking questions. Not very lenient on due dates either. I'd recommend taking this class in person rather than online as I did.
I took this class asynchronous so I didn't have any contact with her directly but overall found the class to be not too bad. There was a weekly quiz and assignment, a midterm, and a final. The midterm and final were pretty easy even though I wasn't prepared. Review the materials provided and you'll be okay.
Professor Rogerson is a pretty nice prof overall. Her lectures are heavy with material and you have to memorize it all to do well on midterms. I would take her again. She gave us weekly assignments that were super easy to get 100 on which was a nice grade boost.
Terrible, challenging course load, and expected to know things that have not been taught.
She is very interesting in lectures. There is a lot of room to improve grades, be sure to complete the assignments. You do have to read the textbook because some material isn't covered in class. Still go to class because she emphasizes the important topics for exams.
She is amazing! I loved her for psych 104 so I had to switch into her psych 105 class so I could take her again! 10/10, she gives weekly assignments that are super easy, midterm and exam material were SUPER fair, everything she covered was on it. Take her for psych!!!
Even though the exams were challenging and there was a lot to memorize, I absolutely loved the class. Her lectures were always fun and engaging, and told us what to focus on before the exam. You will have no issues with this class if you study as you go and do the practice quizzes.
I've rated her before but I need to come back again and just say how amazing she is. Her lectures are so interesting and she genuinely wants you to succeed. She is great for intro courses. She is such an easy marker and her tests are based off of the textbook but if you read it you'll do amazing. Definitely recommend her!!!
She is extremely difficult to reach outside of class time by email and when you do get ahold of her she is unclear or unkind in her responses. She tests on plenty of things not taught in class, her PowerPoints are minimal with information and you are expected to read the entire textbook. Lectures are extremely material heavy. Would not take again.
She was very rude to me and was not easy to reach outside of class when the whole class didn't do well on the midterm she blamed us and said we didn't work hard enough. talks way too fast through the slides which are just bullet points from the textbook. not engaging, expects you to know things never taught, and didn't answer questions clearly.
There is no final paper or large project so her exams are unnecessarily content heavy. The final was 17 short answer based on an unreasonable amount of info and no clarity regarding what she expects you to know. For the final she expects you to know 3x more than my most information heavy 400-courses have. I suggest to make them non-cumulative.
Dr. Rogerson is a very person, but not an excellent prof. I counted how many terms she required us to memorize, not including information, and it was WELL over 200. The midterm and final were very hard. She expects you to know everything but only asks 17 specific questions worth only 3pts each. If you miss one item per Q, you get 66%. VERY hard.
I do not recommend this professor! Entirely written midterm and final (NO MC). This is the first time I have encountered that format in a psychology class, especially one that is so heavy in definitions and concepts. So be prepared to write a lot. She is a difficult marker and did not do much in response to our concerns.
Really horrible prof honestly. VERY tough marker. Lies a lot about what she said. Would give you good comments about something you wrote without you asking in the first place- then deducts you a lot on it. Her exams are okay, but her grading on written response is the problem. Also, her classes for the same course have different course outlines.
She does not explain anything, only reads the slides. Though grader, her exams have 4 short answer questions, 5 true and false and the rest mc. I do not recommend her classes.
Dr. Rogerson is a sessional professor and did a great job with social psych. I always love a prof that uses practical examples where it counts, and she fulfilled my expectations. She is super open to answering questions during lecture and welcomes discussion wholeheartedly. Has a background in sports psychology. Reasonable exams and fair marker.
Her lectures are the bare minimum of what is in the textbook, grading mostly comes from quizzes and "journal reflections". Her lectures are okay I guess, but she is just reading bullet points. Quizzes are very tough and are just random trivial things from the text book and her final exam questions are neither from the textbook or her lectures.
AVOID THIS PROF, don't sign up for this class. For a 100-level course, you are expected to do an outrageous amount of work for nothing. Everything she lectures is useless for the exams and reading the textbook is no help as well. No amount of preparation prepares you for the quizzes and you only have 20 minutes to complete 20 questions. What a joke
There is a weekly quiz, 20 questions in 20 minutes and it is on knit picky things from the textbook, even if you know the key topics it wont be enough. Her slides have bare minimum information on them. Must read and take thorough notes throughout every page of textbook. One weekly assignment and two midterms. She makes everything 10x more difficult
Talks very quickly, can be tricky as her slides have no words just pictures. Strict and knows exactly what she expects of students and makes no exceptions at all. Not compatible with me.
Her powerpoint lectures are bare minimum of the textbook content. You'd have to read the textbook for the exams if you wanna pass and get a good grade. Don't rely only on her lectures because there's so much more you have to know from the textbook. Also, she only reads her powerpoint.
If she actually narrowed down what to study for, this class would be a breeze. Instead, she tests her students on random concepts that were never covered in her lectures. You're expected to memorize the entire textbook word for word. She berated the class for doing poorly on the midterm (a 52% average!) even though she's the common denominator.
Lisa was great! Lecture heavy class (three hour timeslot) but not her fault. The case studies were open ended, but she wasn't too particular as long as you can explain your ideas. She does expect certain answers on exams, which requires studying. I didn't find her as unreasonable as everyone else seems to think she is, I thought she was fair.
Lisa is a nice enough lady but don't take this course if you are trying to boost your grades. I took this course for fun but quickly realized that it was going to be a difficult class. She grades very harshly and expects you to memorize very small details. If you don't say exactly what she wants to hear on the midterm you will receive a poor mark.
She was ok, if you have no other choice she's fine but not a fan of her grading. Nice person and decent lectures but her rubrics for the paper and group project are vague. Will lose marks for some minor things if you don't write everything down in detail. The feedback on assignments sometimes felt condescending too.
how she marks the assignments are beyond me, don't even bother asking her for help or how to actually do better. Shell just send you the exact word by word answer and expects us to have that exactly down or you wont get higher then a C. Even if you watch the assignment videos and answer it doesn't matter.
My only complaint was her lack of empathy and flexibility - although this is understandable for such a large class size and a first-year course.
Unclear and slides, the textbook is KEY for this class
She explains things very well in class, gives quizzes that can boost mark, they are easy. She asks for specifics in test but as long as you study well and understand what you are reading her tests are fair. Overall, she is a really good professor not a difficult class.
It's understandable that a textbook will help you pass a course, but she tested us on such random concepts. A lot of major things she stressed on in class did not show up on any of the exams, but the tiniest & randomest details from the textbook would show up. Just memorize the textbook word for word. No such thing as "this won't be on the test"
The way she responds to questions comes off as condescending, especially on emails. I thought it was just me, but the students around me felt the same way. She's ok if you don't have to interact with her one on one. Important: don't rely on lecture material; focus on the textbook!!
The class requires a lot of memorization, but the prof is very fair. You need to read the textbook and go to class for notes. She explains things well, is caring, and she gives a summary of the chapter when it's finished & example questions for study purposes. Quizzes were open book to boost your grade, but also to self assess your understanding.
Way to fast during lectures, don't even try to take notes you will not be able to keep up. Test heavy course, needing to essentially memorize the entire textbook. Questions can/will be pulled from anywhere, often the most random and nonlinear quizzing ever seen. Don't even rely on the lectures, if you have to take this class, read the textbook!
as long as you read the textbook you'll be fine. her lecture slides aren't great, but she's not horrible. just average. there are lots of better psych profs but if she's the only one that works for your schedule dont let the other reviews scare you. her tests are very fair just read the textbook!!!
Professor Rogerson's PSYC104 class is challenging, but manageable with dedication. The weekly quizzes and midterms require in-depth textbook knowledge, not just lecture notes. Using Unstuck ai alongside the textbook can help streamline study prep. Overall, a rewarding course if you're willing to put in the work.
Lisa Rogerson is a good teacher who cares about what she teaches. The class was not assignment-heavy, and the assignments and projects were easy, and she gave good feedback. My one complaint would be the quizzes, as they can contain anything from the textbook, and she is very big on remembering all the small details. Prepare for final, is hard
Her online lectures were easy to follow, but the quizzes were a bit more difficult since you were given very little time to complete it. Very lenient and fair marker on assignments as long as you do your work.
She is very strict about attendance and specifics on her tests and projects. Does not give any leeway for extenuating circumstances.
Lisa made this class interesting and engaging. Her assignments and discussion posts were fairly easy. You only have a small amount of time to complete the quizzes once you start it, but it was manageable. As long as you do the work and hand it in on time (like you would in any other class), you will do well.
If you plan on taking her class I suggest taking one with a larger class size so she has TA's who mark your written work. I was a psych minor but changed to english because she marks your assignments like you severely inconvenienced her. Even if you are a good writer Lisa will critique you like she is writing a dissertation about your minor flaws.
She is much more pleasant in person and great at teaching social psych concepts. However, her feedback for written assignments feels abrasive and unhelpful. A contributing factor may be her being overloaded with classes and no teaching assistant support to mark written assignments (she assigns with 1 week turnaround time), but still.
Quizzes are weekly, 20 questions in 22 mins, super textbook specific (from the textbook quiz bank) so they were really hard to complete within the time frame. Exams are multiple choice and written, she is very specific about what words you use for the written part. Overall, she was fine, put in the work and you'll do great
She doesn't stray from the textbook, yet makes attendance mandatory through surprise in-class activities. So, you are forced to attend lectures that could be learned by just reading the text. The online quizzes are also extremely specific to the text, down to the wording. She moved tests/dates in the syllabus, yet didn't notify students.
Lisa made the topics super clear and easy to understand. Attendance wasn't mandatory, only for the in-class activities and chapter tests. Utilize the textbook!! She basically reads from it throughout the lecture, so if you miss one, read the textbook and take notes from that section.
Succeed in this course by using her syllabus as an outline to read textbook chapters PRIOR to coming to class. The in-class activities are important and easy as long as you consistently attend class and read the textbook. Her tests are very fair. Easy to get good grades as long as you attend class and complete all the assignments!
Lisa is great in lecture, but a lot of the tested material is randomly selected from the textbook and not highlighted in class. The tests/quizzes/activities are fairly manageable if you read the textbook, but the final was challenging, and a lot of questions felt irrelevant. Attendance is only mandatory during activities and tests.
