She's very gorgeous, frienly. I'll say if your looking for a female math professor take her. she the best.
She was nice, but seemed to go too fast and not explain enough. gives a lot of homework, but then again, she covers a lot of material. in addition, her tests and quizzes seem to cover everything she teaches on...

I not good at math, but I think good class because I learn some good thing. Like soccer. Teacher good at soccer. One day student talking too much. She kick soccer ball at student head. Knock some teeth out. Good example how to solve problem in math.
Teacher is not very clear and doesn't explain things in a easy fashion by the time the school semester had ended the majority of the students in my class had dropped.
I've heard she's really good on lower level math classes and the summer. Once you get into PreCalc and above she admits to giving test questions harder than homework. Tests are very long with MANY people not finishing in the 3 hours allowed.
I thought that she instructed well. Only problem was lectures were hard to pay attention to when she wore short skirts. Definitely one of the better looking instructors
She is very friendly and chatty. She likes her students and her job. She is willing to help and knows the material very well. I thought she was a good teacher to have for lower levels of math, but heard she was harder on the higher levels.
She's clear. Very understandable. Her tests are a bit difficult, but if you take good notes and go to every class, they aren't too bad.

Do not take her class. He tests are much harder than the quizes and doesn't go over the material properly in class. Head my warning the worst math teacher I have ever had.
This class is not an easy one. There is a lot of info and you need to do your homework to do good. But she is a great teacher. She is very helpful and her lesson plans are strait from the book. If you actually want to learn, she is the best teacher.

Class was very hard. Tests are hard. Good teacher, but sometimes goes too fast to keep up with schedule. Will always be available to help before or after class. And yes, very very sexy!!! Difficult to concentrate with her tight shirts and short skirts.
Teaches straight from the book. Does not collect homework, but you better do it. Even the end of chapter work. Moves fast -- somtimes too fast. Assigns homework and then quizes on it the next class period. Gives good partial credit on tests. B+ and Sexy

Once again hot! She was my motivation for showing up to class at 8 am. Class is tough, but if homework is done it's not so bad. Her office hours helped. Nothing like a beautiful teacher.

I've had this teacher several times because she tells her class exactly what to expect on quizzes(straight from homework)and is very clear about the type of problems that will be on tests. She teaches the simplest ways but math is not always easy
I had a lot of fun taking her class last semester. Ya she isnt the easiest teacher at saddleback, but she is a good reason to not be absent. I will deffinetly take her for math 11. I had a lot of fun and came out with a B.
No good, she's pretty good at explaining things but if you want extra help she get's frustrated easily. Tests are hard, she has the hardest H.W. questions and then she adds to them so that they are harder. She get's frustrated easily.
Her calculus class is quite rigorous, with lots of complex problems that will really test your knowledge of the subject. However, she is a great teacher, and is willing to take the time to explain the problems in a clear, patient manner.
Very good Math professor. Really there for her students and teaches clear ways to understand the concepts. I would def. take her again-- prepares you for the next level in Math and very helpful. She is young too so she relates to her students. TAKE HER!

i had to drop her class with a W, her exams were insane compared to the homework problems, shes hot and wears mini skirts so its easy to get distracted, take westphall instead shes much easier

she teaches well and gives a lot of good examples. her class is good if you are willing to study. tests are brainteasers, quizzes are a breeze. (she snaps sometimes though: short-tempered) but take her, study a bit, and you'll be fine....
I fell into the lull of not doing the homework since she didn't collect it and got destroyed. If you take her you must at all costs do the homework or you will mostly likely fail all the tests.
Do the homework! Do the homework! Do the homework! Look at the even numbered problems. Most of the test questions come from the homework and even numbered problems. Not easy, but fair!
she is pretty nice and she always laughs at herself. but this is no easy class. there is tons of homework and she gives a quizz every week. if u fall behind then your dead, so always do the homework
Her tests are very hard, even if you do every single homework problem. She made the final impossibly hard and long, and about 75% of the class was forced to stop taking the exam before thay could finish. She is very unfair, and expects you to be as smart as her.
Her class is very organized, she has quizzes on the homework every week which forces you to not fall behind and to know the material. Her tests are really hard though, but she gives lots of partial credit. Shes hot too.

Goes too quickly over homework, takes 1, 2, maybe 3 problems from each section and moves on to the next, knocking out 2-3 sections per class. Also, it seems as if every time we turn around, "SMACK!" there's a quiz or exam; it's not right. We aren't learning anything this way.
This class is killing me...Way too many problems on the exam but not enough time
Boy, she is faster than God himself. She can beat him building the Earth in half the time. If you can't handle learning an entire chapter in one day (basically), learning another tomorrow, and then getting a test far off where you have to recollect all learned materials--get out while you can.
She goes over one problem (if you're lucky, maybe 2) then off to the next section. I go home and try working on problems we never went over and the next day, there's an exam or quiz.
I don't know why they make us sign up for an entire semester: She covers the entire book in one hour! Never have I seen before a person who squeezes, crams so much into so little time and expects a group to understand it, retain it, and redeliver it as if it were a group of experts.
No extra credit, no credit for hmwk, and grades very strictly. Don't even mispell the date under your name--she'll take off points! Your grade is based on 4 exams and a quiz everyday! Drop all of your classes and focus on this one only... (for any math class from 11-3A)
She is a very nice teacher, but you have to really study for her class. Her tests are ok. They are no easy, but it is not super hard either.
Do the HW, and study study study. She's helpful. A's the class. As long as you keep up w/ the hw & the material you do good. She's very good at explaining the stuff. Very cool teacher too, and pretty hot! hard to keep your eyes on the board... =D

She is not very helpful or clear. Never finishes problems she is demonstrating on the board. Quizzes every week on problems never taught. Brushed me off when I asked for help. DO NOT TAKE!
VERY HOT. VERY HARD. She takes the hardest equations from the section and makes the test, so (in theory) she gives you the answers before the test. BUT IT IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooo HARD!!!!

Man, she makes it harder than what it should be. And if you really think you're going to pass this class, you've got a big suprise ahead. Foolish people, even though they read these responses, still persist to take her summer class. Logic tells you that if 4/5 of her class doesn't pass in a regular semester, how do you accomplish it during summer?
Just A'ed this class somewhere else but almost failed in her class last semester; how weird. Oh, well. Now my graduation is official and off to USC I go. Man, she almost made this impossible.
No matter what, you're probably going to have to take her, since she has a monopoly on Math 11. Listen, guys, only about 2 of you will get a B--almost C--grade. As for the rest....sorry, but there may be D's for you if you're lucky.

Clear instruction. Makes up her own problems for exams, but if you understand the concepts, it should be ok. I got a C because she threw away half of one of my exams and gave me an F on it.
She is a difficult teacher and you have to study. I got a B in her Pre-calculus class and an A in calculus. I worked very hard for this grade. Always do the homework and study. The tests are harder than the quizzes. I always found her to be helpful. If you think you can ace this class like high school don't take her. This is college-it's difficult.
I don't get all the hate on here, she was a sweet woman and was pretty helpful when I had questions. Not an *easy* A, but, then again, calculus shouldn't be. I left her class with a good foundation for more advanced math...
i dont know about math 11, but im taking her for math 253 and all her quizzes and test are from her homework so do your homework and your straight. shes willing to help and pretty clear.

Hard - Tough - not a fair grader - makes up questions that you will never find in the book - exams are hard - with all these reasons I took 2 classes with her cuz she's HOTTTT
Sweet, sweet lady!! The topic is hard for me and my learning modality isn't the right fit with her teaching style. She moves thru the topic with a pretty quick pace. I had to go to LAP quite abit. If you need to go at it with a slower pace, Lisa is not the instructor for you. She is encouraging and is willing to meet during her office hours.
She is a really nice teacher, always happy and really pretty for a math teacher. Quizzes come from hw questions, so they are easy. Exam questions she makes so more difficult. Class moves very fast so i wouldnt recommend unless you are good at math.
Lisa is a great math teacher. Not only is she hot, but she teaches math well. Her tests are a bit on the hard side. But her final exam was a cumulative final of things that were on her other tests, and she only told us to study about half the probs from them. I though she did a great job teaching the class. Always so happy. I would take her again.
She is really sweet. She doesn't take attendance, but you might not want to miss her class because she does an excellent job explaining the material.
She has very good teaching techniques, seems that she has perfected her strategy over the years. The material in the clas is very hard but she does her best to portray it as simple as she possibly can. Take her if you have to have the class. She's great.

I highly recommend taking math classes with Lisa. She presents the material in a stuctured form and explains everything clearly. She gives weekly quizes and the two lowest scores are dropped. In addition, out of the 4 exams, the lowest score is dropped. The professor knows math inside-and-out and wants her students succeed in math as well.
The best math teacher I have every had. Clear, organized, fair, challenging, supportive--she really knows what she is doing. I wish all teachers had her dedication and resolve.
I usually hate math, but she made things really clear, and I passed with an A. But that's not with out trying, I did the home work and studied before each test.

Very nice teacher, extremely helpful and always open for questions. Never puts down anyone and always upbeat about teaching. First teacher I ever had who didn't put me to sleep in a second and always explained things very thoroughly. Quizes are direct homework questions. Do homework, make sure you know all concepts for test and you'll pass.

Lisa is unquestionably the BEST math teacher I ever had. Her teaching methods are extremely clear, and she tells you EXACTLY what you will be tested on. No surprises. As far as the outrageous accusations that no one passes her class, the majority of students receive at least a B. I have talked with a lot of students, and I have seen their scores.
Lisa is a good math teacher, she wants you to do well. But... you need to go to class everytime and do your homework or you will fail and its YOUR FAULT, come on people, its math! She drops your lowest test grade and their is a quiz every week and she drops your 2 lowest quizes. Overall great teacher.
No calculus should not be this hard... i finally dropped after i had an exceptional tutor all semester and still managed to fail each test. her tests no joke ae from the standford test book. YOU WILL FAIL. go take it at ivc, i hear its super easy and theres extra creidt. silveria doesnt teach, doesnt make sense and thinks shes hilarious. not cool.
This class really sucks, but its possiable to pass. She tells you that she doesnt put hard questions on the test, but they were the hardest ones she could possiablly find. You have to come every day and do all of your homework to even pass(I got a B), it is almost impossiable to get an A in the class, Avoid if you can, only take if you have to.
Lisa is a very nice and helpful teacher. There are no surprises in her class. If you pay attention and do the homework, it shouldn't be too hard. There's a quiz every Friday worth 10 points, but every question is taken from the homework (which she doesn't collect!)

I love her! She's so nice and she teaches the best she can. People who complain are dumb because they probably don't want to do hw or study. But it's math, so you have to. Defintiley take her she drops your lowest test score out of 4, and she drops your two lowest quiz grades, which are taken straight from the book.
The book that we use was usless and she isn't that great of a teacher at least for Math 11. I actually like math, but she really isn't that clear and even if you ask her questions, it's like she's teaching it to herself. There's a quiz every Thursday and 3 tests and a final. 2 quizzes and 1 test are dropped.
Really good teacher. She's an experienced teacher and knows what she's talking about. Math 3A is a bit hard but it's calculus so what're you gonna do? Just practice for the quizzes and you'll do fine. LAP is really helpful.
My second attempt at taking Pre-Calculus and Lisa definitely easier for me! Professor Silveira constantly has energy in a class where it is easy to lose! She's a great teacher and very well organized... she adapted to the school's schedule due to the fires and she's way legit in my book. She's nice to look at too... ;-)
Tests are very hard but she teaches you everything you need to know and will help you during office hours. There is a 10 point quiz every week. She drops your 2 lowest quizzes and 1 exam(out of 4). If you do the homework and review your quizzes, you will do fine.

I hate math, hate word problems & have math anxiety. But Lisa teaches everything clearly & brakes it down so you know how & why you r doing it. Do the hmwk and you'll pass every test.
i had her for both math 8 & 11. her lectures were straight forward. she'd give u examples similar to the hw. pretty much all u gotta do is come to class every day (dont miss any class cuz you will miss a lot of notes), take ur time to do the hw, take the weekly quiz (straight from the hw), go over ur hw/quizzes before the tests, n u should be fine!
Wow I loved her. I have always been absolutely horrible with math but she does so well at teaching slowly and clearly. She is the professor you want to take if you suck at math. She honestly is the best math teacher at Saddleback hands down.

She is nice, I found it hard to keep up with her lectures,she goes really fast. Found her quizzes easy but then the tests way harder! Kids who had taken math in high school or were good in math had no problem, Everyone else suffered.Very hard. Other teachers could explain in easier terms.
She is a great teacher! Whoever said math was easy never got past Algebra! Silveira is approachable for anything! She explains each section with examples instead of paragraphs (it's math of course!) Homework questions on the quiz, test is harder but it's on what she teaches you! Just take some time to study and you'll pass :)
Very nice teacher. Expalains everything really well. Quizzes are straight from the homework. Homework not collected, which can be a good/bad thing. You must stay focused and attend all classes so you don't fall behind. TESTS are really hard, though. I studied full time for the class and got a B. I'm happy I took her for Math 8 though. -Learned alot
Great Calculus teacher. Learnt alot. Examples are from the even from the section and only odds are assigned. The quizzes are exact HW problems so make sure u do it or ur gonna fail calculus. Make sure to regularly go to her office hrs but MOST IMPORTANTLY go to the LAP! Make time for it. Great body figure; abit difficult to concentrate sometimes=P
Really good teacher, I never believed I would actually pass calculus but I did. It was stressful but I really learned alot. You have to work hard and devote some time, do your homework cuz those same problems appear on the Quizzes. :) I wish i could take her again.

1.LAP only helps out when you are doing lower division math. Once you get up into the hard math classes, you have to learn it on your own to fully understand it. 2. Good teacher, tests arent too hard if you study for em. 3b is a pretty mechanical class so you'll be doing a lot of integration and a lot of work. Overall, good class. recommended.
she is an amazing teacher. i have been horrible at math my whole life but if you go to class and do the homework, you will definitely pass. the quizzes are exact hw problems so that can help raise your grade. be aware that she chooses the most difficult problems for her tests though. if you go to her office hours shes very helpful! take her!
Professor Silveira is a great teacher. Take her if you struggle with Math. She is very clear in her explainations on how to get through the problems and is very helpful if you do not understand. Homework is not required, but if you want to get an A or B, you have to do all of it. She will help you on the problems you could not do.

Took her for Calculus. Drops the lowest test score, which is a godsend. Do all the homework. Seriously. Very helpful, and good at explaining the math, but calculus is just hard. Biggest flaw is the book she uses has no solutions manual. Overall though, you'll have a hard time finding a better math teacher.
prof. silveira gets a 10 in my book. no bad things to say at all- she truly loves what she does and knows calculus inside and out, she's hilarious, and tho i flunked calc in high school i got an A in her class. DO THE HOMEWORK (quiz questions are straight from hmw) and go to class cuz she gives great tips on shortcuts and whatnot. TAKE HER!!
WOW. Don't take Calculus during summer unless you're a complete masochist. This is the first math class I've ever struggled in. Nothing to do with the teacher; it's just an extremely tough class. A ton of information. I feel like I have no clue what I've learned, yet I can still do everything on the tests. It's REALLY fast paced.
Such a great teacher, Easy to understand, Explains everything, and answers all questions thoroughly. Never makes you feel stupid. HW is not mandatory, She drops your lowest test score and lowest 2 quizzes Awesome.
I took her class for 253, I was so happy to see she is teaching math 8. She explains everything crystal clear and wants you to pass. If you do well on the quizzes you will be fine in the class. 4 tests and a quiz every week, drops your lowest test score. Homework is not mandatory, but if you want to pass I would recommend doing it. She is hot too!
if you like studying 8-12 hours a day and still not feel like you can get an A, go ahead and take the summer class. I think she is a great teacher. BTW brush up on trig 1st and make sure you really do pre-calc well. it was a nightmare learning it all at the same time. Here's my advice. TAKE IN FALL OR SPRING.
Great teacher, but her class is no joke! Took summer Math2 last year. I was definitely prepared for calculus because I took her class. HOWEVER: I do not recommend transferable math courses in a shortened period of time. It's a 4-8hr per day course. She is always willing to help her students, but if you fall behind you could screw yourself bad.

Mrs. Silveira is a great teacher. She gives excellent notes and has a lot of office hours, which she has no problem helping when you ask for it. There is a quiz every week and 4 tests-she drops the lowest test. Hwk is not mandatory, but the quizes are literally questions from the hwk.
Not an easy teacher but a good teacher. Its not an easy subject but i think she teaches it well. Really good about office hours. Homework doesn't count. quizes once a week. tests can be tough if you don't like to study. If you are not a good student shes not the best fit for you but if you are you'll do fine.
She is very clear on what she is explaining and likes to help you understand. I recommend using the book and doing all the HW because it really helps; also getting the answer book. She drops the lowest test score and 2 of the quizzes which really helps. Not an easy class if you are not prepared.
Silveira is very clear with her teaching and has weekly quizzes that are exact problems out of the textbook. If you do your homework, you are pretty much guaranteed a passing grade.She is a tough teacher if you don't take the responsibility of doing your work or if your not punctual. She is by far my favorite math professor at Saddleback!
Very very hard teacher! Her tests are impossible! She is a pleasant and considerate lady, but this does not make up for how hard she makes this class. Take a look at other teachers with higher easiness ratings. IVC math teachers have better ratings in general compared to Saddleback.

Super hard grader!!! She is pretty clear in class, and her quizzes are easy (they are homework questions), but her exams are extremely difficult. She takes off points left and right, even if your answer is correct. If you take her class be prepared for really low marks.

Dear lord this class was the most painful experience of my academic career to date. You must have prior math knowledge down solid, minimal reviewing is done. Moves EXTREMELY fast. Tests are unforgivingly difficult and disproportionately graded. only redeeming factor is her availability. Do yourself a favor and find another teacher.
You have an in-class quiz every class meeting, the quiz problems are taken from the homework the night before. You also have an in-class problem at the end of every class. That being said, you need to attend every class. The test problems are taken directly from the practice test. If you study and do the work, there is no reason not to get an A!
She is great. Gives examples through out lecture of what homework will be on. class was based on quizzes and tests. drops 1 exam, 2 quizzes. redo the homework over and over to prep for exams… Her exams are HARD! She is a great, friendly, clear person! I would recommend.
Prof. Silviera is by far the best math teacher I've ever had!! She's incredibly nice and very willing to help you and make sure that you understand the material. Homework isn't mandatory but I highly suggest that you do at least some of it anyways because it really helps!
This was the hardest class I have ever taken. She is a really good teacher but the tests and quizzes are difficult. There are no curves but she drops your lowest test and some quizzes. If you are not very good at math or are looking for an easy-A i suggest another teacher. Expect to put in a lot of time and work for this class
Hardest math class ever taken. In order to get an A in this class you MUST do all of the hw. 1st day of class there were 50 people signed up. Final day, 14 people left in the class. Drops 2 of your lowest quiz grades (out of 12) and 1 exam (don't be mislead though). DO NOT take this class, unless work ethic is unbelievable. Very hard grader too.
Lisa is a very, very good professor. Her lectures are very clear and the notes are easy to follow. She is very helpful and truly wants to help her students understand the math!! Do the homework, as all of her quizzes are exact homework problems. The class on its own is challenging and it goes fast but Silveira is a prime choice for this class
12 quizzes (2 get dropped), 3 exams (1 gets dropped), and a final. Quizzes come straight from homework problems. Test questions are usually direct from the book, too, but with numbers changed slightly. DO THE HOMEWORK. GO TO OFFICE HOURS.
Really good teacher! this class is not easy so don't expect and easy A, but if you pay attention attend class and do the homework its not to hard to get a good grade. Very good at explaining math and test reviews in the LRC are available

By far the best math teacher that I have ever had! You know you have a good teacher when you don't have to do the homework, hardly study, and still get an A in the class! VERY VERY good at explaining any questions you might have! Definitely take her class!

She is a great teacher. However it is a VERY HARD class, which is the nature of calculus. She cares a lot and will pass you if she thinks you're trying hard. I HIGHLY recommend going to the tutoring center in addition to her teaching. I spent 100+hrs in there and barely passed her class. I would take her again for another class. She's great!
She was a very good teacher. She's clear at explaining everything, and answers all your questions. Homework is not due, and there are 4 tests (one is dropped). I was only 2% away from passing the class. If you work hard, and actually do all the homework, you will pass.
Professor Silveira, who doesn't mind being called Lisa, was a clear and patient teacher. If you had any questions, she was ALWAYS glad to help. Like any math class, doing the homework helps you succeed, but she doesn't require it for your grade. Your quizzes and tests, as well as attendance, make up your grade. She is a wonderful teacher.

I HATE math, I LOVE Professor Silveira. Teaches at a slower pace, easy going, easily understandable. Re-does practice problems if you have issues. Write everything down, make sure you have the right edition of the textbook, show up to class every session (she pays attention to that)
Calculus is hard and so is this class. She is a good teacher and will help you if you ask for it. Don't depend on the tutoring center cause they can't really help much. Go to the office house, do all your homework, and study study study.
AWESOME!! I have struggled with math for years and she made my life so easy. I understood math really really well for the first time since 7th grade. She's funny and entertaining. Really helpful and she takes her time wthorough notes. Tough tests and weekly quizzes (for MW every W) She's amazing. Also there is a pass or fail option.
WOW one of the worst math teachers here. She does not know how to teach I had to spend countless hours after school and tutoring center in order to get the math HW. Skips steps and expects you to know everything from previous math courses even if you forgot she will not re-teach. Goes over 2 chapters fast and quizzes you the next class day. AVOID!!
She is a very very clear math teacher. I never had issues understanding the material with her explanations. She is always willing to answer questions. The class itself is pretty difficult. Never miss a class or you will be behind. Studying is key!
Its not about her . Math 3a is too hard for me. She makes it super clear but I didn't spend time to study.
Lectures were clear and helpful in completing the homework however I felt as though I didn't truly understand the material. A strong trig foundation is necessary to be successful and she will gladly answer questions that are not caused by trig deficiencies. Unfortunately, my grade was unsalvageable and I had to drop a week before the drop date.
Don't take her for Calc 2 unless you want to destroy your GPA. So many students failed. (Check out the average grade above!) Her tests are impossibly hard and she thinks it's funny that the test questions are nothing like the homework. I love math but she made it miserable.
She is an awesome professor! Calculus is a hard class, but she explains all the concepts clearly and makes it easy to understand. She is very friendly, nice, and helpful. She gives a quiz every week with exact HW problems. I am barley getting at A and I'm a strong math student. Its my toughest class but its the most rewarding and the most fun!
Nice teacher the weekly quizzes were off of the homework, tests were pretty hard however, she gives partial credit.

Don't take her class unless you want your GPA to drop. So many people dropped out of her class. Very fast paced. She has weekly quizzes and doesn't grade homework. Her tests are hard. I did all the homework twice and studied every day but the tests were unnecessarily difficult to solve. She's a hard grader and doesn't give much partial credit.
Her tests are HARD. She usually picks the hardest problems to solve and she doesn't give out much partial credit. Class avg for the first test was a 60% and the first one is supposed to be the easiest. A lot of these people saying she's good are taking the class a second time so they already know what to do. I can't recommend taking her.
Take it from me. This class is not easy by any means. But if you put in the time and effort, you will succeed. Professor Silveira lectures extremely well. She also explains the concepts, and teaches us deliberate ways to solve the problems. Her 3A class sets you up for success, if you take it seriously. I wish she taught 3B/C!
DO THE HW to pass the weekly quizzes! Three exams and a final, and you can drop one of the three exams. Exam 3 is the most awful so I recommend doing well on the first two. She loves math and is helpful if you ask questions, although I recommend asking her after class one-on-one. Beware though, calculus is not easy
I loved her! Took her summer class. She was very clear in teaching and was very straightforward. Generous grader if you understand the process but make a mistake or two. Do all of the HW and understand it and you will do well. Don't be afraid to ask questions and go to the free tutoring center in the Saddleback library-helped me to get an A!
She's super sweet and answers any question with correct explanation! Gives excellent feedback to her students when they have a question. I understood her very well when she would give us lectures. Only problem is her class was the afternoon and I had to drop because of that. Easy quizzes every Wednesday too.
This class is by no means easy, but if you put in the time and effort, and do every homework problem, you should pass. Her lectures are very detailed and she is extremely intelligent and a great communicator. Very skilled at teaching.
I'll be honest. I had her for a few math classes and it was amazing. This teacher brought so much joy into my life and liked teaching. Lisa's classes are something you should take! Try a class, you may be surprised.

She's very clear on what will be on the test. It's an easy A only if you do the work and review the material. She's caring and hilarious too. Highly recommend.

This by far the worst teacher I've had in my 3 years at Saddleback. Hard to follow and so very unpleasant I can't begin to explain. Please take my advice as well as other that this isn't a teacher you want to take!
Would I take Lisa Silver again? NO!!! I showed up to every class, studied, worked hard, and still couldn't figure out what she wanted. She doesn't use blackboard so there is no online resources and no up to date grades until after an exam. 4 Tests are 90% of your grade. I will never take her again.
Best math teacher I have ever had! Super quick grading, gives great feedback, always willing to help in and outside of class. Very easy and straight forward notes, however it is very easy to fall behind. Those who put in the time outside of class will do well.

I don't know why some people write good comments for this professor!!! First of the semester she had 40 students by the end of the semester 50% dropped her class. You have to study by yourself.
Her class is like a nightmare! I studied everyday 24 hours for class. Tests are super hard and questions are different than what teaches! And I got D and she destroyed my GPA
She is very nice! I had her class for math 2 and math 3A and I got A's for both! Absolutely they were not easy but you can get A in her classes if you practice hard! Also the quizzes are exactly the homework problems.
She's willing to help if you reach out but doesn't do much to make the material clear. She's also very nice, even cute, but is also very cavalier toward students experience difficulty. Overall, if she was the last professor available for a class, I'd put it off a semester.
I had a great time taking her class. Its calculus so its going to require time outside the classroom for you to do well. She did a great job of instructing the class. She gave us a VERY good idea of what would be on the test. She give quizzes straight from homework. She takes questions and is very helpful in office hours. I had a great experience.
Good: She is nice, explains steps well, gives partial credit, and is pretty cute. Bad: Grading rubric is configured in the most difficult possible manner: 1) No credit for HW, so no cushion. Grade weekly quiz+4 tests+Final. 2) Quizzes are 3 questions, so get one wrong auto 67%. 3) Written tests, and difficult. Each covers lots of material.
Tests are VERY hard. Practiced homework over and over multiple times for hours and still received a C. I do not think it was because of her teaching, she really wants you to understand the material... Its just that the test are unbearably hard. If you ask questions she will gladly answer them. DO NOT CHEAT. She will know. Very hard class.
If I could rate this prof. on a scale from 1-5 I would give her a -100. This prof. is terrible... She is confusing, unhelpful, & everyone fails the tests because she doesn't explain anything or she "doesn't feel like teaching us the rest of the material". Also, she is unprepared for class and she makes excuses why this is so.
HORRIBLE TEACHER DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. More than 3/4 of the students in my class dropped in the first 2 WEEKS! She makes no sense at all, barks at you if you ask a question, and gives out "strikes" if no one knows the answer. TAKE AT YOUR OWN RISK YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Professor Silveira is a wonderful professor. Her guidelines are laid out clearly in the syllabus. The quiz questions are copy and pasted directly from the homework which enabled me to ace pretty much every quiz. Tests are slightly more challenging, but calculus is not an easy subject. By the end of the semester, I had well over 100 hours in the LRC
Professor Silveira is the worst math teacher I have ever taken. The whole class is graded off of 3 short exams and that is it. She offers no opportunities for extra credit and does not grate homework. She is a very harsh grader. On my tests, several times I had the right answer (or close to it) and was given no credit for using improper notation.
Tests are based on homework questions. just do the homework and you'll be fine

I took summer Precalc, which in itself was a challenge, at first I didn't care for Silveira that much but, I came to find her lectures were very clear and at a solid pace to understand even at 7:30am. Her tests are hard though and really put your study skills to the test; one gets dropped (not including final). Do the homework especially in 8 week

Professor Silviera is a GREAT teacher! I will definitely take her again for any other math classes I will take that she offers! She is very organized and drops 2 quizes and 1 out of your exams. There are 4 exams and 12 quizzes, she does not count the homework. As long as you do your homework and listen in class, you will be fine!
If you fall behind in lecture, meaning, going over a problem from the book, you will just find yourself copying stuff from the chalkboard and tuning out of what she is currently going over. She does all the problems for you in class and doesn't let the students try any of the problem for themselves, which means you can only practice with your notes
Very reasonable professor. Lectures are clear and helpful. Quiz problems are taken directly from the optional homework. Tests are challenging but not impossible . The two lowest quiz grades and the lowest test grade are dropped. Do the homework and you'll pass.
This professor is tough on her students. She not understanding if you need to miss class and grades your work according to your attendance. She is a harsh grader. I did like the way she lectured and she made the material understandable, just be extra careful on her exams and show up to class.
Silveira is a really tough grader, she can be in a really good mood at times, but can be easily ticked off if you're talking too "loudly" before and after class. This is a tough class you MUST do the homework to do well, and study a lot for the exams.
Im not a bad student who is angry because they cannot pass. I am a 4.0 student who cannot pass this class. Prof Silveria is very nice, but shes extremely difficult. Inconsistent grading between students and only 400 points in the class total. Shes also just not personable at all. Too matter of fact and unwilling to work with you. No extra cred
Professor Silveira is an awesome lady. However shes the most difficult teacher ever. Math is not an easy subject in general but I felt like she makes it harder then it needs to be. Main thing I didnt like about her class: she does not provide practice tests like other math professsors do which makes studying for the test very very difficult.

Good teacher, she knows the material and answers any questions. As an 8 week course, it moved fast and you had to go back over your notes to remember everything. Grade was based on a few tests. She gives partial points on tests though, so show your work. No extra credit or homework, textbook is optional for practice. Don't slack.
I have had this professor for both Math 8 and now Math 11. She is the BEST math teacher I have ever had. I don't understand everyone's negative feedback. She is clear, concise, and puts things in a way that is easy to understand. Every class starts with practice problems and the tests practically mimic these problems. Do your HW, go to class!!

Class is 4 tests that are worth 100 points each and are difficult. Lowest one is dropped, and each test has 115 points possible (so you can get 115% on a test). There is one cumulative final that is worth 200 points, making he class out of 500 points total. Homework isn't for points but good test practice. Overall really nice and helpful prof.
Took her for Math 11. She's a great professor and tries to keep the hard material simple. Class is NOT mandatory but if you skip, you'll most likely miss an important section. Grade based on 3 tests (lowest one drops) I didn't even have to take the 3rd because I did well on the first 2. I woudn't recommend anyone else.
As long as you go to class and do homework, Silveira will help you succeed. I didn't think the material was difficult, but I also feel like it was because she conveyed it in a clear way that made sense. I noticed that doing my homework helped a lot for the tests but she also tells you almost exactly what will be on it- plus there's built in EC.
This professor has really good lectures and as long as you go to class and take notes you will pass. She really cares about her students and will take her time to explain the material if you will take the time to ask her questions.
Silveria is probably the best professor at Saddleback for Math11, however that doesn't mean I'd recommend her. Because the class is only graded by 3 tests and a final, it is very important that you do well on the tests. I averaged a B on all the tests but got a C in the final and my grade became a C. If she graded homework it would be a B. Try IVC
She is one of the nicest math teachers out there! Class is only graded on 4 exams including the final which one can be dropped. 15 points extra credit for each exam thats not the final which can really boost your grade up! Also there is no mandatory homework but doing it helps as similar problems show up on exams.
Nice person, explains the material pretty well as well. Only problem is that sometimes her tests are absolutely nothing like homework or notes we take in class. She makes the first test pretty easy but dont let that fool you because the next ones will beat you till you fall
Math is definitely not my strong-suit but Silveiras way of teaching helps you understand statistics in the best way possible! I kind of wished hw was graded because i averaged Bs on the test but bombed the final and got a C. So please go to class and do your hw to maintain a passing grade! If you can, try IVC!

She is very nice, but only does the easy problems in class. The homework is optional, but helps. There is no study guide, but she tells you what is going to be on the test. This is difficult because you have to weed through the homework and make sure youre studying the right stuff. The test problems are way harder than what she teaches in class.
Take this class at your own risk. Shes an okay teacher, but not the best at elaborating. The notes are never posted online so show up to class or make a friend. She also bases your grade off of 4 assignments, the final is like half your grade. No extra credit, homework is optional and one test gets dropped.
Lisa taught well she did some examples for us and had us do practice in class and shed walk around making sure you are okay. Open to answer any questions but you have to put an effort. She doesnt assign homework but encourages it. Do not be late on exam day. You have 4 exams and 1 Final. The exams have a lot of extra credit. Easy pass.

Her lectures were nice because she did everything with you, she wants to ensure that all of her students know the material and she will do her best to help you get a good grade. There are 15 extra points on the tests! homework isn't mandatory which is nice if you're busy, take her if you want to learn a lot
This class was very hard because I personally have never been too great at math. That being said, I was able to get a B in the class by working really hard and doing absolutely every homework assignment (even thought they don't count for any points in the class.) If you don't do the homework, this class will be hard. She drops the lowest test score
Lisa is hands down the best math teacher I've ever had. Sit in the front, listen to what she has to say, and don't over review for tests. She is always willing to help after class, and wants you to succeed. Just focus when you're in class and make an effort to do most of the homework or even just a little even though its not mandatory.
this professor doesn't teach, she just gets upset when you fail her test. I had a B when I took Calc A senior year, retook it at Saddle and had to drop the class.
Lisa's class was not too good that's all I have to say. For most of the part, I had to self-study but the tests were easy. She drops your lowest test grade and the final is super easy basically a collection of your previous tests.
Her class does not have Mylab software and everything is very manual and you have to figure out how to solve the problems. The book is expensive. Professor Lisa is nice but she does not explain very well. Thank God Saddleback is a sister of Irvine Valley; please go there to this class. Trust me, you will be happy about doing that.
This class was not what I expected. She only gives 2 example problems in her lecture vidoes per section that do not match the homework problems. You have to teach yourself everything and she is so strict with grading your work on the tests (will mark you for everything). I've had straight A's for 4 years straight and I barely managed to get a C.
This Professor doesnt seem to care about her students. When you email her she tends to have a bad attitude when responding to you and all around she has a very dismissive attitude. Also, this is an online class and she doesnt post recorded lectures or anything. Our grades are only based on practice quizzes and exams. She doesnt collect hw.
I am about to finish taking ONLINE Math 11 with Prof. Silveria, and I'll save you some time by saying if you take this class, you'll want to drop out of college. I signed up for her online class (which was supposed to be 2 days/week for 3 hours + lab for office hours). She held one class. Everything else just Youtube lectures. Very bad, smh.
As this was an online class with lecture hours, I expected time to be dedicated to zoom lecture. But there weren't really any. She had office hours, videos with sample problems and some meager lecture notes, but otherwise you had to entirely teach yourself. Also, the tests were really the only credit and with one bad test, I had to drop the class.
No lectures, just pdfs of notes and youtube vids of a couple sample problems. Grade is primarily from exams. All practice problems due each week are a lot harder and sometimes not even related to the notes for the week. Pretty much just another lazy professor who uses covid as an excuse to not put in the work but still gets paid.
video lectures were of the easiest problems in the lesson. I had difficulty getting help from the professor as I was directed to other math sites that didn't help me comprehend the subject matter. Grade's somewhat hard. No practice exams and the study guide is pretty general.
This was hardly a class. No live lectures, just office hours. All material is prerecorded videos + notes. This is just guided self-study. It feels like she doesn't care about teaching and just wants to get by with minimal effort. The tests are very hard and the questions are almost always harder than any textbook problems. Maybe better in-person.
Not a good teacher. The classes are just office hours where you drop by and ask questions. She doesn't teach at all, you are given notes, a short video about the chapter and that's all. Her "study guides" are just a list of things you should know, no example problems. You will need to teach yourself, she doesn't do a good job at explaining.
Had to teach myself the material and still failed. Vague video lectures and pictures of notes. Only two hours of office hours per week. Vague study guides that didn't prepare you for tests. 15 question Exams (worth 100 pts) twice as hard as weekly HW (2-3 problems). Very nitpicky on grading. Gave very little effort to teach.
Worst Prof Ever. Lecture notes and youtube vids illegible hand written and full of mistakes. Bad attitude and when askked for help denied office hours or conferencing. Unbound textbook horrible. No support. Worst Math Professor ever experienced. PreCalc is an important prereq for higher Math. Take your job seriously you are effecting people's LIVES
Shes a good teacher and makes herself available. She just gives you the most difficult questions on the tests and doesnt give partial credit on tests. No graphing calculator.
Tests incredibly difficult. HW 100s of problems, worth no credit but necessary to absorb material. Studied for tests by going over HW problems for hours and hours and still struggled to understand tests. Available for office hours, friendly and willing to help but lectures generally unhelpful and short videos of 2-3 problems and thats it.
This is the worst calculus professor you can get at Saddleback. Homework is worth no credit and test heavy. Horrible lectures and clearly doesnt care for her students.
Where do i start... this teacher has got to be the biggest drone I have ever encountered. The lectures are terrible, you might as well watch khan academy vids in your free time. Test Heavy and the final is worth 40% of your grade. Good luck
I’ve never struggled with math before. This class made me change my major. Does the easiest possible problems for examples then assigns the hardest possible problems for homework and tests. She doesn’t make the homework due except for the weekly practice problems page which barely scratches the surface of what you need to know. Never again
Professor is a fair grader. I had to drop the class because of financial and health issues. When I asked her for help during office hours she was very helpful and approachable. This class is really hard and you have to study a lot and practice to get a good grade. I recommend going to the tutoring center to get help and going to office hours.
She uploads the week's lectures and gives a couple practice problems for homework. 80% of your grade will be exams and the final. She drops your lowest exam out of the 4 in the semester. The tests do not use proctorio. She is a tough grader with the average scores begin around the 60% and she does not curve. Make sure you are ready for the exams.
I was hesitant to take Professor Silveira due to the reviews, but she honestly is a very fair teacher. The lectures are super clear and homework is optional, but I highly recommend to do the homework to do well. Tests are harder than lectures, but if you do extra homework problems the tests will be very easy. Take good lecture notes!
The class itself is test heavy, but the material and content needed for the exams are all there on the Canvas page, including extra videos for each section, notes, and all the Zoom lectures. Grading is also very fair and not at all harsh. Its actually very hard to fail unless you don't pay attention at all or ignore the material posted.
This is the first and only class I've ever failed. Notes are next to useless in this class, she doesn't explain how to do the problems she's demonstrating, she just does them. Homework is literally the easiest problems from the chapter, tests have the most difficult and convoluted problems. Study guides make zero sense, steer clear!
Professor Silveira is amazing at what she does; she is clear, concise, and very willing to help if needed. I took her online math 11 class about a year ago and I would recommend taking it in person because the lectures are much more in depth and easier to understand. Attendance isn't mandatory but I wouldn't miss because it's easy to fall behind.
I'm a math person and this is the first time I fail a math class :( She doesn't like to give partial credit unless you're slightly off. She won't hesitate to give you a zero on a question, and just getting one zero will drop your exam grade to a 90%. There's no homework (except weekly practice problems), so there's no cushion to aid your grade.
Do NOT take her class if you want to pass. She will not give you partial credit on exams and the whole final grade is based off them. There is nothing to help your grade beside a few points from weekly practice problems. The lectures are absolutely useless and the exams are way too difficult.
Very test heavy and the tests are hard. I think the average in my class was around a 45% for all four tests. She drops lowest test grade and final is worth 2 tests. The class average on the final was 90/200. She does not curve. Im pretty sure half of the class failed. Dont reccommend
I believe that my review is super important to take into account for Professor Silveira because I took her for 2 courses (MATH10 & 11) for the entire semester! If you want to succeed in her class make sure you listen and ask questions! Do not go and study the night before the test and get mad you got a bad grade, she is a good professor.
This class is very test heavy and you only get 5 points from homework every week. Get ready to memorize lots of formulas and spend a big chunk of your time studying. The averages for exams were almost always in the 50's. There are 4 exams, not including the final. The final is cumulative. I would suggest you go find another professor for precalc.
Just a very hard class in general. She seemed disinterested/annoyed at actually teaching us math, and her lectures were boring/uninformative. I wish Saddleback had math professors who cared about their students and doesn't expect us to remember EVERYTHING from pre-calc, algebra, and trig. Unrealistic amount of homework. Take this class at IVC!!!
Professor Silveira is very responsive and she answered my questions within 24 hours or sooner, she responded questions even on the weekends. She actually cares for students. I do feel there are a lot of homework, but as a students, I really want to learn, so I believe practice and work on the homework are important.
The professor shows an absolute lack of care for students. Does not read emails before responding, shows arrogance in responding, and is a teacher that will not show any care for what you may be going through, and believes the course should come before everything in your life. I strongly urge you not to take this teacher.
I strongly recommend that you look for a different professor. The average grade on tests was always in the 40s, and she blamed the class for not studying hard enough. I put a lot of effort into studying, felt like I knew the material very well, and would end up getting a 50 on the test. I had to drop the class because there was no way I could pass.

I failed 3A last semester and tried retaking it with her again this semester. It started off great. She's nice and willing to help, but the tests count as a majority of your grade. She made me think I understood a topic, but then put hard questions on the test. I ended up having to take a W. I don't recommend her

Provides plentiful notes and concise, explanatory videos, and study guides. Your lowest exam score is dropped, so try to do good on the first two because the third and fourth are exponentially harder (trigonometry). The final exam is based on your previous test questions and she gives away two of the questions for it.
She is a good professor. I would have preferred she used and Math lab instead of the homework problems from the book. The books explanations were not very clear and her lectures were helpful but most times she would

Professor Silveira's class is challenging, but if you stay on top of the material and utilize resources like unstuckstudy ai, you can succeed. The exams are tough, but she drops the lowest one. Attend lectures and work through the optional homework to prepare.
By far my favorite professor at Saddleback! I would take her for all my math classes if possible. She is very knowledgeable, caring, and funny. HW is usually 2-4 questions per week and there are 4 exams, with lowest grade dropped. She has optional homework problems that I think should be mandatory. Very similar to what is on the exams. Take her!!!!
I'm not the most disciplined student, but I am an honest one. My parents witnessed me take time aside and take the final exam at home. I reached out to her after I noticed my finals test said ‘not submitted'. She said there was no proof that I opened or answered any of the questions and that I will have to take the 0. She didn't offer any help.
Prof. Silveira is a great math professor. This course is largely based around the lectures as well as the tests, but they mimic the homework problems and the lectures very well, and she drops your lowest test score. I also recommend looking at the practice problems on the syllabus, which also help prepare for tests. Do not slack off, though.
Everyone does math different shes the first math teacher that wants it done her way. She does not understand that besides math we have other classes she does not allow late assignments . Math is a pretty difficult subject and she does not understand that instead of offering help she just tells you to drop.

Literally horrible. On tests even if you get answer right if you don't solve exactly her way its wrong. Extremely passive aggressive and rude. She acts caring but its all fake. Homework is only like 10% and must be correct and the rest of the class is graded on impossible texts that she grades extremely hard. Find another teacher this one is BAD!!!
Just terrible. She honestly does not care about her students. Even if you submit a minute after 12 pm which is due time she gives you a zero. I failed her class couldn't transfer was about to get a 70 but she didn't even want to round up my grade.The work also needs to match the way she does it but everyone does math a different way. She's rude too
Awful professor, not caring
This was one of the most difficult and frustrating classes I've taken. The professor is a very tough grader and doesn't curve, even when the entire class struggles. Lectures were often hard to follow, and it felt like we were expected to teach ourselves most of the material. She also wasn't very responsive.
She is a very tough grader and not an easy instructor to learn from. She moves through the material quickly and doesn't explain things clearly. When students ask questions, she can be dismissive or impatient. Her exams are hard, and even small mistakes cost you a lot of points. no flexibility at all. It feels like she expects you to already know
funny professor and good lectures
Took the class over the summer and as long as you apply yourself and dedicate the time to understanding her lectures, you'll do well. Expect to put in hours of work each week if you want to achieve an A. Not an easy course, but her explanations (and expectations) are clear and concise.
Tough grader, not many assignments. Make sure to submit on time and follow syllabus.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Professor Lisa makes the class feel 10x harder than it is. She is the pickiest and strictest grader I have ever seen SHE DOES NOT CURVE. The test are 99 percent of your grade and she doesent give partial credit. Please read this message before taking this class.
I took Silveira's MATH11 course this Fall; I want to start by saying she is an AMAZING explainer, and lecturer; however, you HAVE to put in the time study and understand it. I am consistently entertained by her explaining math; it makes sense. HOWEVER, she is an very strict grader, you must label units and use points, and write steps. Be prepared.
In all my college years, I have never taken a class where the teacher is so selfish.The exams are so tough, have to been written by hand, I missed two set practice questions by accident and she dropped me from the class without any warning. stay away from this class if your extremely busy with work, because if you miss two assignments your dropped
I don't recommend. She grades harshly and you have to follow her exact method for solving problems, which is unreasonable since everyone does math differently.
