Extremely helpful and really wants you to succeed in her class! Anatomy and Physiology is not an easy class, but as long as you attend and study, youll pass. She gives study guides for exams and "hints" as to what will be on the exam. Textbook isnt required for in class use. She does move very fast, but overall is a great professor!
Dr Smith is a scientist at heart. She is an adjunct professor from USF. I enjoy her teaching style - straight and to the point. I expected this course to be much more difficult; however, she makes it very comprehensive and easy to understand. I agree: no need for the text, but then don't miss lecture, especially on review day! I highly recommend.
She is great! Moves quickly, but gives a great review the class before the exam. If you take notes during that review, and study them, you'll get an A. Shes sweet and helpful!
A&P is not an easy course but professor smith made it so interesting and easy to comprehend. She post her powerpoint slides (only if she sees the class is making an effort to come) she gives chapters outline and test reviews before class. If you are having a hard time understanding something she goes over it again. she wants u to succeed.
Dr. Smith is AWESOME! Go to class and try to pay attention. She gives a review the class before an exam day and as long as you go to that, take notes and study them it is impossible to not get an A. Book is not required.
Dr. Smith is a wonderful teacher. She will make sure the class is understanding the material. As long as you attend class, study well you will do great.
Ms. Smith is very helpful by giving out reviews before taking the exam. Information is very clear, and she is very nice. Makes science fun to learn. :)
One of the best professors I have had at HCC. Dr. Smith made the subject interesting and kept you wanting to learn more. I enjoyed how she made it challenging and was always interested in discussing harder subjects further with students.I also felt that I earned every grade I received. I wish I could take the class again!
Sharp! Intelligent! Very Sweet! Not confusing! She makes a hard class easy. This teacher is the reason you want early registration.
Online class requires A LOT of effort. The book is necessary if you want to get a good grade, I hated the online book, ended up buying the paper book. She has PPs, I'd only use them to study before an exam. Complete the ENTIRE final exam review. I passed the class with an A, very well earned though. Nice professor, answers emails & grades quickly.
Dr. smith is the definition of a great professor. I had her for online lecture and in class lab. She is so clear about everything and makes learning A&P that much easier. Both of her classes require a good amount of effort but if you actually put the work in, youll get the grade you desire. Great professor, one of the best ive had.
Had for lecture online, lab in person. I wish I took both in person. Online test/assignments very hard and time consuming. Great professor is very clear about what will be tested. I learned a lot!! A content heavy course so make sure you read and do the reviews! I got an A in both and she works with you to give you the highest grade possible. TAKE!
She is a great teacher! I wish i could take her for A&P2. Her Class is very easy if you put in the effort. she goes over test and explain concepts very well. I will be taking her for micro lab and lecture that's how good she is. I had her for bsc 1085 and bsc 1085L.
I took her online lecture and her in lab in class. Awesome professor an A is very attainable. She gives reviews for her tests. Her exams are very simple compared to the review. I wish i could take her for a/p 2.
She gives you the structure of each quiz and exam. If you study what she says and a little bit more you will be able to get an A. Wish she was teaching part 2
Shes probably the easiest a&p teacher but you HAVE to study. All the quizzes are online and easy. Pretty much if you do the test reviews you'll pass. And shes one of the nicest teachers I know.
Took this class online and the lab in person. Online work is very time consuming and tests can be kind of difficult. I would recommend taking this class in person. She was great in the Lab, went a little fast on tests (they are all on a power point). When she says this class is difficult she means it, but she is always willing to help!
Love her! She really needs to teach all Anatomy classes!! I learned soooo much in her class. I couldn't get her for bsc2 but I so so wish I could have. She is by far my most favorite teacher ever. Anatomy is not easy, but she is so clear that you will find it so fun, that you will make perfect grades!
Loved her! This class isn't easy at all, but her resources make it easier to understand; she's very organized. She gives short ungraded quizzes to check your understanding and also posts reviews online. Study the review AND quizzes to ace the exams. She also writes recommendation letters. Her letter helped me get a scholarship!
Dr. Smith is the most professional and smartest biology professor in HCC. Her class was very difficult the entire semester. It was the hardest “A” I have ever earned, but now I can proudly say that I have learned important material that is not only important for graduation purposes but also for a comprehensive understanding of the human body.
Dr. Smith is amazing! I got an A on every one of her tests. Only took her for lab this semester, but i have her for lab& lecture next semester. Very easy compared to my other A&P teacher. She is sweet and caring. Highly recommend her. She also gives reviews which are very similar to her tests.
Dr. Smith was amazing professor, but her test was really hard and tricky and I can tell you to get an A in her class you need to study, but if you fool around and not pay attention to class or the details you will not make that A. Very helpful, caring, kindhearted and understanding professor. MUST STUDY HARD TO GET A GOOD GRADE!! AGAIN NOT EASY A !!
I am soo thankful that I took my A&P I with Dr. Smith, I took her class online and it was no way and easy A, you MUST study but she will do anything to help you with the material. She is sweet and truly wants to see her students succeed. She is also VERY quick on responding back to emails. In person or online... TAKE HER!!
Dr. Smith was a great teacher, when she gave an answer she would thoroughly explain that answer with examples and everything. She was very clear and straightforward about what was going to be on her exams. Loved her and would suggest her to anyone.
Dr. Smith is a really kind, sweet, lady who wants to see her students succeed. She is understanding that her students have lives beyond her class and will work with you whenever she can. You have to study the material and spend time on the class but everything is really straightforward- the tests come right from the reviews.
She is a great woman. She gives you reviews before the test. She is fare. She really loves what she teaches. HCC is blessed to have such a great teacher!
shes awesome! shes sweet and you feel like she really cares about all of her students. she does everything she can to make you understand the material. its a really hard class and I already failed once. after hearing so many good things about her I decided to take her& now I think ill pass with a B. shes the best teacher to take for this class.
Mrs Smith is amazing! I took her class online and wished I had taken it in class. I meet her during her office hours and was so happy I did. Do the study guides and I promise you will pass this class. I wish I could take her for A&P 2 but she's having her 4th baby. Great professor.
Great professor! She gives study guides, power points and is willing to answer questions. I highly recommend her.
I took this class online. It was hard but made the best of it. Provided a lot of resources to understand the material. Lots of reading, time & dedication. This class is not an easy class to pass let alone online. Provided extra credit. DO NOT SLACK OFF!!. Study everyday, use resources, ask questions & you will pass. i recommend taking her. got a B!
Dr. Smith is awesome! I took her lecture online and I also had her for lab. I got an A+ in both classes. Her study guides are crystal clear and if you actually spend time reading the material, you will pass with flying colors. I have no idea how anyone could not get an A! Take her, she is the best! Super sweet lady, very helpful!
She was really nice, and she had great powerpoints that she went over in class & made available to us online, so you really didn't have to read it word for word from the book.
Hard class but she made it easy. In class quizzes helps, some exams q's were from these. I'm sad she's not teaching A&P 2.
online class, lots of work, have to stay on top of assignments. fair and readily available. good feedback
I took Mrs. Smith for Anat l AND Anat ll for lecture AND lab. Anatomy 1 was a CAKE WALK. I hardly ever went to lecture. The study guides are basically the test. Know them you got an A. Anatomy ll was harder- harder study guides. READ PPTS! For both labs- study! Read lab manual AND DO STUDY GUIDES!!! Both are essential to get an A! BEST TEACHER!!!!!
Currently taking Dr. Smith for both LecLab and it is NO "CAKE WALK"! I put in well over 40 hrs a week studying the material and its brutal! Her online class is tested every week and the tests are not easy. Currently have an A in both classes; however, I'm working my tail off- along w having anxiety attacks : She's a great prof. otherwise.
This class is enjoyable but highly time intensive. Expect to be in class and expect to put in roughly 8 hours a week or so studying. She is a great professor and I very much so enjoy her class. If you put the time and effort into her class you will get a good grade but if you don't go to class and you dont study DO NOT expect to pass!
TAKE HER! I did the half online and half in person anatomy lab. It was perfect because you're there for about two and a half hours every other week with quizzes due on off week. Read the lab manual and do the study guide and you should pass with an A. Ten quizzes, three exams and if you have the grade you want in the class then no final !
Anatomy is not an easy class but Dr. Smith was the sweetest teacher ever! She made it very clear that its not an easy A and that most people fail her class. However, if you pay attention, do the study guide, and readings-- You're most likely to be in the percentage that passes! Also took her for lab which she was just as great!
Online Lec hybrid lab. Utilize the material given, read, take good notes, do the objectives, READ AGAIN, and DON'T FALL BEHIND. Tested weekly in lec (16 total), and 3 exams in lab. Dedicate a lot of time into this course. Anatomy is hard but there is no reason not to do well in this class. STUDY HARD. The grade you earn is the grade you deserve.
Anatomy class is not easy but she gives you all the tools you need to succeed. Answers emails quickly and grades and posts grades fast. She gives you little tricks for learning and remembering in her powerpoints. Also, in lab for the exams she gives you the chance to earn extra credit at the end of the exam. You definitely need to study and read.
Anatomy 1 is a where you have to take in a lot in a short amount of time. Professor Smith gives you tools that will help you pass. Her reviews are straight to the point and she gives lots of outside sources for help as well. Really a great professor
She really tries and it shows. Easily the best Prof I've had. I found her attention to detail to be stellar. She provided focused study material and her tests were actually based on the assigned material rather than arbitrary garbage. She was always very responsive and helpful. She was also flexible and willing to work with me when I became ill.
Dr. Smith is an outstanding professor! She clearly lets you know her expectations. The materials she provides to study for quizzes and tests are incredibly valuable. If you put the time in to study for her tests (and you have to study), you will get an A. She is very willing to help students to understand the material. Take her. she is excellent!
Dr. Smith is and outstanding professor. She really cares about her students and want to see them succeed. She is very fast with grading test. You receive your test grade the same day online. There is no reason anyone should fail her class. She talks really fast during the lecture. If you don't understand something just ask her to repeat it.
I really don't understand why her ratings are so hi. Yes she is the sweetest person ever but she is not a good teacher at all in my opinion. She doesn't teacher the information she just reads of the powerpoint slide. I pretty much had to teach myself.
Dr. Smith is an extremely patient and excellent professor. The course is rigorous and a lot to take in, but she will take the time to explain the content so you understand it. She truly cares about her students, and students would be lucky to have a class with her.
Dr. Smith is a great professor, I highly recommend her to anyone who needs biological sciences classes. Shes happy to help if you have questions in class or her office hours. Anatomy and Physiology II is not a easy A and YOU HAVE TO READ!!! Do not expect to be spoon fed or just do all quizes and pass. She gives out study guides which is great.
Dr. Smith is an AMAZING professor. Hands down the best at HCC. She is there for you when you need her and willing to help in anyway she can. There is a reason her classes fill up so quickly! I was lucky enough to have her for both A&P 1& 2. The class is by far a lot harder than A&P 1 so don't expect to just look at the pp for all the answers.
By far THE best professor I've had. Dr. Smith provides you with all necessary information and is always willing to help her students thrive. Never once did she make me feel like a bother. It is obvious that she puts a lot of time into teaching and loves what she does. It's up to the student to work really hard in return!
Although, she did provide a lot of study material, it was very overwhelming. I left the class without retaining much information, like all the other reviews she only reads off the powerpoint and isn't very interactive with the class. Also, when she answers your questions, she rambles on about something else leaving you even more confused.
Im not sure why people are saying she only reads the power points. I've taken her for more than 1 class so I know from experience. She does read the PP but she also goes in depth to explain every slide. She had also ask numerous of times that if there is something we dont understand she can slow down and go over it again.
I had her for A&P I & II and in all of them she asked if anyone had questions multiple times. If you needed help, you asked or you stayed after to get it. The best time to receive help was after Lab was over. This is college, not high school. If you don't do the work or study for exams you will most likely fail. I 'll take her again if able to.
Professor Smith is the best professor I have had while at HCC. I took Her for A&P 1 and2 lecture and lab. She cares so much about you succeeding in class, yes she uses power points but they are a guide line. She stops to go in depth and gives annologies that help concepts sticks. Study guides help you focus on what concepts to have down
Of course this course is not an easy class. You must study and devote a lot of time into this course, however Dr. Smith provides plenty of study guides and in class quizzes to help you. I recommend getting with a study group because it is a lot of information to go over. She is very passionate about you passing and her students
I took this professor online and she is very sweet! If you take her online, I HIGHLY recommend filling out the study guide way in advance!! DON'T SCREW YOURSELF OVER! There is a test every week, along with quizzes, but it's not that hard. She offers a lot of extra credit. However, if you don't pass the final get an automatic F in the course.
Took her online she's great. Very sweet lady in person. A chapter a week. Including 2-3 quizzes and a test that is worth more than your one exam which she gives you a study guide for with a lot more questions than is actually on the exam. DO THE STUDY GUIDE! You will fail the exam if you don't lol that's my only advice. And study
She's a very nice teacher. If you aren't majoring in health, and looking for science credits don't take the class though. It is super difficult if it's not up your ally, and a TON of studying.
Amazing teacher, easy online class if you just do the reading and STUDY THE ONLINE QUIZZES/TESTS! Passed with a 99%
She is a super nice professor. There is a lot of material but if you study you'll pass. I would highly recommend taking her and I would definitely take her again.
Professor Smith is a fair and awesome teacher. Even if she uses PP, it has all necessary information and she explains everything very clear. I suggest to prepare for the lecture in advance, and all questions you may have will be solved during lecture. You won't even need a book if you use PP because it made very professional. Do study guides.
If I had to take another BIO course, I would definitely take Dr. Smith. The layout of the curriculum was so easy to follow. She is so organized and clear in her expectations. Great study guides. You will have a quiz each week. A total of 3 tests and a final. Usually about 50-60 questions. Buy the lab book though! She is very easy to talk.
Professor Smith is a great teacher she is the best. However she gave a study guide for final exam with 172 questions. plus 10 question for essays. The final is just 50 multiple choices questions. Is a lot question to study just for 50 multiple choice
Grading criteria were very clear. Tests are based off of the PowerPoint presentations, and are due every week. A study guide for the final is provided. Dr. Smith was very responsive to emails and the discussion posts. If she were teaching BSC2086 I'd take it for sure.
Lisa is the best teacher I have every taken at HCC. She is very specific about what to study for and gives excellent study guides and practice questions. Yes this class is a lot of work but that's anatomy it's complicated. Her lectures aren't repetitive and robotic instead she is very engaging and good at explaining things. She's an amazing teache
I would not take this professor for lab I am not sure how she is for lecture. She does not use lab time to explain anything out, she just puts power point slides up and buzzes through them. She says oh this is easy right, no explanations for anything and just expects you to know. Not helpful at all. I would never recommend her. The exams are hard.
Dr. Smith does require you to show up to labs and the lab manual is definitely needed since it is your source of study when studying for the exams. She also lets you leave class early once you finish your lab. She goes through the PowerPoint and explains what to do. If help is needed, she's very easy to approach. I would definitely take her again.
I'll be honest, I rented the textbook and I never touched it once during the semester but I still earned an A for the course. There are quizzes and a test to do each week for certain chapters each week for the online course. In prep for the final, she requires you to complete a study guide with a group. I got a B on the final! Overall, 10/10 class.
I took her lecture and lab online course. It was fairly manageable, weekly chapter quizzes and tests. The final exam for both courses is cumulative and requires 60% to pass the course. You have to take it on campus or through proctor U, which was the one thing that sucked. Extra credit, did not use textbook
Dr. Smith is very knowledgeable, flexible, welcomes questions, and cares about her students. If you go to class and do the not-for-credit in-class quizzes, you'll do just fine on the tests. She gives ample extra credit opportunities and the final is optional. I read the text, but it probably wasn't necessary. I would take her again.
This was a fun class! The text is required but it was less than $10 at the bookstore. There are weekly quizzes (average 10 questions) and that's all you're graded on. The 2 lowest are dropped. Study the material in the manual and you'll get an A. Dr. Smith explained the labs and was available and happy to answer questions in our outside of class.
She makes this class an easy A but when it comes to actually retaining the information she is not a good teacher.
A&P is a TOUGH topic!! The lectures are extremely fast-paced. Don't bother taking notes on powerpoints, you'll never keep up; she posts them all online anyways. She gives an in-depth study guide for each exam. DO THEM, the test questions are very very similar. She is a great professor, the class itself is just very challenging.
Dr. Smith really knows her stuff! I took her for A&P 1 and 2. Im now in PA school and she is much better than my professor in grad school. She has an amazing way of explaining the complexities of the human body. She is super down to earth and will go out of her way to help you. She is the best!
She gives you all of the resources to do well in this challenging class. If you use her resources you have a good chance of getting an A. The study guide is lengthy but if you want to be well prepared, it is best to do the study guide! There are 4 tests and one exam. She also has online quizzes for a grade. You will need to commit time to study.
I was nervous to take this class, but I was recommended Prof Smith. SHE IS AMAZING. She REALLY wants her students to succeed. She drops the lowest test grade as long as you get a certain percentage in some categories, so I don't even have to take the final. I loved this class and the professor. So happy I get to take her for A&P2!
I took her for her online lab and in-class hybrid lecture for a&p1. I have never loved a science class more. There were no trick questions and the testing and material were easy to understand. Prof Smith gave SO many extra materials to use so that you could pass your exams, including detailed study guides. I am so happy I get to take her for a&p2.
Great professor. Even though this class was online, Dr. Smith was always there for you. The reading is clear and even though the class is difficult throughout, if you put the work in you will succeed. Would take again!
Got an A. Tests are based off of her study guide and quizzes. She prepares you well for the exam. Glad I took her. No homework and she only took attendance the first week of class. No trick questions on exams. Very helpful and responsive to emails. I aced every exam and didnt even need to take the last exam. She used PowerPoints so dont buy book.
she is a great teacher... the first time i took anatomy lab the teacher gave test with the projector and it was impossible, got 23% on all 3 exams. But i took this one and shes amazing, exams are on conputers and mostly multiple choice. Great teacher and the test are easy if you study
Lisa is so far the best professor Ive had. I will take A&P 2 with her definitely!
I took her for Anatomy Lab after failing it the second time. She is amazing. She responds to your emails within max 30 minutes and is always there to help if you need it. She was super kind and will definitely be taking her for A&P II
Dr Smith is an amazing teacher, she will provide a lot of SUPER helpful stuff, pre&post quizzes, powerpoints and amazing guides! If u follow all this u will pass with an A. Lets be honest, anatomy classes are hard but believe me she makes them easy, at least for me... I would defenitely take her over and over! ( HYbrid Class )
Easiest lab! Recommend!! Grade is based off quizzes that you take every class. Quizzes are based on study guides she provides, Study it & youll get a good grade! She drops lowest 2. You will fail if you miss more than 2 classes.
Great teacher, very understanding and caring. And is good at lectures and lab.
This class is was online and was self paced, so it is up to the student to meet the deadlines. However, all the assignments were pretty easy and not too time consuming and the tests were based directly off of the online labs. Just make sure to double check due dates often to make sure you meet the deadlines and this class is a breeze!
SO GOOD! if you actually care about learning, take her! You will understand the material and she makes the environment very comfortable and accepting of questions and open discussions. Just make sure you study for exams because its just about all your grades are based on.
Great lab! Follow the powerpoints and study for your 4 exams and you'll be fine. I honestly feel like your grade is based on your level of involvement. Take time to review each section during lab with your lab partners and use powerpoints. Easy A! I've alreasy signed up for BSC2086 Lab and lecture with her next semester!
I took this class online (and lab) with Dr. Smith and loved it with an A in both classes. Her powerpoints were paired with audio from previous semesters and she was engaging and funny. If you read the chapters then went through powerpoints/audio you will do well. She's a very fair and responsive teacher. Be prepared to put in effort though!
Dr. Smith was one of the best professors I've had! Took the online course & her recorded lectures were really engaging & she made the material interesting & fun. Weekly exams, quizzes & a final exam. She gives you all the materials you need to do well in this course & extra credit on top of it. Would definitely take her again!
I cannot stress enough how amazing this professor is! Her study guides are fantastic- follow them and you pass the test. She is caring and ready for questions. She bumped me to an A with no hesitation. If she sees you work your butt off she has no problem bumping you that extra point you need.. Take her for any class she offers (micro especially)
The best A&P teacher. Study her Powerpoints, show up to class, and you should be fine.
This professor is a bit overrated, her whole class consists of 4 large exams that are worth your entire grade and quizzes that don't help raise your grade in any way. The final is optional. If your not a good test taker do not take this professor, the majority of your grade is based on super hard exams that hardly reflect the study guide.
Professor Smith was great. I took her in the summer online and passed with an A. Her tests and quizes are very easy. Tests are cumulative. You will have a lot of reading, since it is anatomy, but she is wonderful and i would highly recommend her!
She is nice and has a lot of knowledge about the subject. However, only graded on quizzes (that are mostly to be completed online) and then 4 exams and the final so you have more pressure on you to do well. Her study guides dont help though for the exam. Just read and study the PowerPoint slides and you will be fine to pass her exams.
BEST professor ever , first time taking class online she made everything easy. She response to my email in 30 minutes very understanding . I would take her again , you have to do your work and you will pass with flying colors
Dr. Smith is incredible! I took her for A&P 1 for 6 weeks online. It is a tough class in general & the time frame made it even tougher. Her lectures, powerpoints, & videos are phenomenal, she gives you EVERY tool you need to pass but you HAVE to read & put in the work. She is very caring, accessible & gives lots of opportunity for extra credit too.
I just finished up this class with Professor Smith. I think she is a great professor, and really knows what she is teaching. She is relatable and tries to apply real life scenarios to her lectures for better understanding. She cares about your doing well, and gives constant reminders on important due dates. I plan on taking her again for MicroBio.
I honestly LOVED her class. Don't get me wrong, the material is very hard; I took an accelerated course and, between AP and AP Lab, I have never worked so hard in school! But this professor is amazing. She genuinely cares about each of her students. You can tell she wants to see you succeed, and is always there to help. I will miss her class!
I took anatomy and anatomy lab with this professor and I absolutely loved her. She responds quickly to emails and is always kind and willing to help her students. If you read the textbook and study you will pass.
Smith is an amazing professor. She makes the subject matter simple and easy to understand with tons of tips and tricks to remember the information. She gives plenty of opportunity for extra credit. She is one of those professors that loves her job and it shows. Just be warned, she covers a bunch of information in class so make sure you show up
Dr. Smith is one of the best teachers I've ever had, I 've had many since I have a BA. She provides Power Pointes, audio lectures, and then you take quizzes (you have 2 attempts) to check what you know and what you don't know. Then you attend her online class and any concept you don't understand she will explain it until you do. Take her class!
Youll have 4 exams that your grades heavily rely on. You have to be a good test taker because there would be 60 questions but only had like 50 mins to take it. So if youre not a good test taker or expect to have a lot of time for them DONT TAKE THIS CLASS! I hated that she didnt even give us a minute per question at least.
Do yourself a favor and take Dr. Smith for A&P! She makes A&P so interesting w/pre recorded audio lecture to highlight key topic. Use the chapter learning objectives as a study guide for each test and you will ACE this class. She also gives a THOROUGH study guide for the final and provides extra credit on the final. She responds quickly to emails
Professor Smith was the best professor I've ever had at HCC. She has pre-recorded lectures and amazing (sometimes lengthy) powerpoints. Get ready to work, this class requires you to put in effort. Do the weekly assignments and study, you'll pass with an A. Exams and quizzes were clear and no trick questions. TAKE HER CLASS, you won't regret it.
She is a great teacher who cares about her students. All her tests are reasonable, but the tests are proctored by honorlock (every week). Also, the clinical case studies are a bit difficult, but nothing unreasonable. The final exam review is very comprehensive, and gives you exactly what you need for the exam. She provides a bit of EC as well.
I don't know why she has such high ratings? This class was HORRENDOUS. Practice Tests never tell you what you got wrong, so how do we learn? PowerPoints are scattered, LONG & will make you guess the info & she won't verify it. "Study guides" are 70+ questions & super unhelpful too. She won't answer your questions either. Very passive aggressive.
Literally one of the worst professors at HCC. She doesn't help you at all. Have a question for her? She won't answer you directly. She refuses to allow you to see the answers on the chapter tests so you can't learn what you got wrong. She is a very harsh grader and her tests are impossible. Her study guides do nothing to help either. Just awful.
DO NOT TAKE. Starts every class with a quiz asking questions that very rarely line up with the study guides. You're always being tested on what you did before and what you are going to do that day. Very frustrating and can make the whole lab unenjoyable before it even starting it. TRICK QUESTIONS TOO! And will randomly require spelling sometimes.
TOO technical on the simplest things. Makes everything confusing/complicated. Way too serious for a required class in a community college; has you playing doctor on tests. WAY TOO MANY TRICK QUESTIONS! If you squint wrong you'll lose points. INSANE amount of quizzes that count for nothing but small amount of tests count for everything. You'll fail.
I am surprised by some of the comments. For lecture she is pretty good. I dont really know about lab. But for lecture she gave study guides for each exam that really helped. The clinical studies and practice test are hard but dont really matter because the exams are 80% of your grade.
I loved her class!!! as long as you study for the exams and follow the study guides you will do well! she offers EC and make sure you go over the quizzes before testing! I wish I could take her for AP 2:)
She was the BEST. Make sure you come to class ready to learn. Fill out the study guides throughout the whole course and study the practice quizzes. I recommend reading the class notes before attending class, go to lecture and see the information for the 2nd time, then read the book to tie everything together.
Do not take her class. If you can find another Anatomy Teacher do that. For her quizzes you get two attempts. Her exams are mixture of multiple choice and fill in the blank. She provides extra credit on her exams. I only say dont take her class because for her exams she gives little time for 50 questions.
You can have an A throughout the entire semester, but if you don't do well on the final, you fail the whole class. Absolutely insane and unfair. No lab manual. PowerPoints and notes were short and very unhelpful. Exams do not recycle quiz questions. Fill in the blank and checklist questions galore. Just love yourself and avoid this professor.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! She will fail you if you do bad on the final exam. Doesn't matter if you have good grades all semester - just ONE TEST can decide your fate in this class WHICH IS HORRENDOUS. Why even take thousands of quizzes and do homework every week for 16 weeks when the final exam is all that actually matters???? SHE IS AWFUL.
All the material for this class was accessible through canvas, in class we would go over the powerpoint and the quizzes which are only 3% of your grade. If you complete the study guide and study the quizzes you will pass. 5 test, lowest score is dropped. Professor smith is very knowledgeable. The lab class was easy and fun.
Professor Smith has been one of my best professors at HCC. She is very caring and wants her students to learn and understand the material. She gives many study resources for her students to use. Overall, a very good professor!
I took the ONLINE MCB class & I would not recommend taking it. 2 chapter tests & 4 quizzes EVERY week. There are q's from NCLEX on tests that she does not go over. No access to chapter tests to review wrong answers. Final exam is cumulative. Fail the final you fail the class. She is probably better as a classroom teacher but not online.
Do not take any of her online classes - absolutely horrible. Lots of exams and quizzes that require the memorization of 60+ powerpoint slides, reading the chapter, plus answering the learning outcomes. Final exam study guide is a joke, 100+ questions that are NOT short answers. After answering all of them I had 80+ pages to study.
Way too much work for a 2000 level course. Expect to read every single chapter, powerpoints are extremely long, learning outcome questions are also useless (I never used them). You will have tests and quizzes every week. I have no idea how she has so many high ratings. I would not recommend taking her course.
Dr. Smith is such a good professor. She answers emails quickly and gives you all the information and resources you need to succeed in her class. 10/10 class
She makes the class very clear and concise. Lecture heavy, but as long as you look over the study guide, go through the power points, and take the chapter tests there will be no surprise questions on the exams. She is easy to follow along with and will tell you exactly what you need to know.
I took Dr. Smith for the Anatomy I lab and actually really enjoyed this class! Dr. Smith provides resources to help you study for exams, so you always know what will show up on the exam and never have any surprises. Activities were interesting and helped me learn. My favorite professor at HCC so far!
ProfSmith really cares that her students understand the material. Will give examples and mnemonics to make info stick.Quizzes are a great review for exams and she reviews questions in class if there is any confusion. Attendance is recommended since she includes examples in class that are sometimes not in the pptx recommend taking any of her classes
Professor Smith was the best anatomy professor I could've asked for, and that's why I'm heartbroken she doesn't do 2086 online. Lectures are long but she makes it easy to understand. Grading criteria is clear and you have a total of 5 exams, your lowest gets dropped so that was really nice. 10/10 would definitely recommend.
Professor Lisa is an outstanding educator, very organized, responds, and grades quickly. She gives you all the resources you need to learn and prepare for each of her exams. One thing I like is that she always places in some additional questions for extra credit, which helps you improve your grade.
This is the worst professor I have had. I got 89.4 and I asked her for an extra credit to get the A and she did not want to. TEST ARE HARD and gives 100+ slides. She makes you drop your GPA and has no compassion for students. Do not take her if you want to get an A in the class.
shes a great professor and very caring. A&P is a hard course anyways and its fast paced because this is for medical majors. as long as you do the study guide before the test, youll be just fine. shes very sweet and she does have lots of slides but shell ask for feed back and does chapter quizes in class with you so thats free points right there.
As hard as an A&P course can be, Dr. Smith helped me understand the lab very easily. She is understanding as long as there is communication and effort involved on your end. You have to put your own time and effort into studying but every answer for exams will be found in her reviews, straight from the textbook, or in past quizzes.
Offers lots of participation credit. Weekly quizzes with two attempts to keep your highest score. She is a clear and concise grader. She is available if you need help with certain topics and final exam is optional. Dr. Smith provides a lot of resources to help you understand the topics and prepare you for the exams. Textbook and Lab kit required.
Professor Smith's A&P class is challenging, but with some dedication, you can succeed. The lectures are packed, but attending and using the study guide helps. Unstuck ai was a game-changer for my exam prep.
Attended BSC 2085, BSC 2086, and MCB 2000L w/ Dr. Smith. Consistently excellent across all subjects. Keys to success in her courses: 1. Take full advantage of ALL lecture audio and review materials - Pearson too. 2. Engage heartly in the course discussions. 3. Must read text for these courses. No skipping reading. Thank you, Dr. Smith.
Dr. Smith is hands down the best professor at HCC. She provides many study resources including study guides, lecture audios, and practice tests. Anatomy is overwhelming, but Dr. Smith breaks it down and walks you through each chapter.
THIS is who you want for anatomy! Dr. Smith is professional, knowledgeable, and prepared to teach. She does an amazing job setting up her canvas page with all the resources you need to succeed, you just need to take advantage of them. Always gives back tests and reviews them in class.
She provides you with everything you need to make an A in her class. She's such a great educator that you can't fail. I made a C+ in the class, and I didn't have a computer or the textbook. I studied from her PowerPoints and study guides. I am taking her for A&P 2 with a laptop and the textbook. I definitely expect to make an A or B.
Very hard for a two-year college instructor. Has lecture audio and you don't know what slide she is talking about. Test questions are very confusing and you can't find answers on the slides. She is not helpful when you ask a question. She gives very little time on tests. She is very strict on Honorlock. She has a lot of work. She will reply to you.
The professor only grades quizzes and exams, giving little room to improve grades or demonstrate comprehension. She is not comprehensive to particular circumstances and is very judgemental, even cruel. She never gives class assignments or group projects. Overall, she is not a polite person.
She purposefully neglected to tell students that she will not be testing on one of the lab activities. Had to study more material for no reason. Rarely communicates with students as to what is expected for class.
Professor Smith has been one of the best professors I have take. Super easy labs. There's a quiz every time we meet but she does provide a study guide for each of the quizzes which are super easy if you study them. usually 10 questions and she adds extra questions to some questions.
HONORLOCK !!! terrible.. she was the hardest class. I feel like some assignments shouldve been a little easier.
This class wasn't too difficult for the most part. The virtual labs were easy. She has a midterm and final and both are proctored. She gave a 20 question quiz every 2 weeks ( not proctored). She doesn't offer extra credit but she did allow students to retake the midterm but it had to be on campus. She also has discussions every other week I think.
Lisa Smith is a very short tempered and foul mouthed person. Anyone who has an unprofessional experience with staff should report them using the school's online formal reporting process. She can also be manipulative and unfair.
Her work is a bit difficult and it is HonorLocked, however if you have the textbook and spread out your work, it's definitely manageable! She also does a great job at answering any questions you may have, and it's fairly easy to maintain an A or B in her class, especially with her extensive study guides and practice quizzes.
This little old lady is the worst person. She is very unfair. Has no patience. Why does she only do lecture audio? You don't even know what she is talking about. She loves honorlock and takes a long time to reply like she is too busy to help her students or too slow.... please avoid her if you can!
I took this in person, Attendance doesn't matter. You can skip all lectures and receive a A if you do the study guide and practice quizzes. All quizzes have no late penalty. 4 exams and 1 optional final. Material is extensive, but prof makes it easy. Haven't talked 1 on 1 but she seems nice. Just do the study guide and youll be fine trust me.
Exam HEAVY, lecture audio is completely useless, 100 slide powerpoints, makes a study guide but you provide written answers for, and finding answers are all over the place. Cannot repeat quizzes over and over to memorize, she purposely changes the wording in her exams to avoid students doing that. Don't take online course unless you can self teach.
Took her course online and had a great experience. If you actually read the textbook and lecture slides you'll be fine. Yes, there's honorlock. (duh? its an online course) She was thoughtful and even reached out to me preemptively to make sure I didn't fall behind. Overall, a fair and organized professor. Taking her A&P II next semester!
Her class was very well organize. 5 quiz that werent honorlock and two exam that were on honorlock. If you study the quizz you should be ok on the exams. Just remember to actual understand the question and answer. Once you do that you should do great. Also try to do well on the first exam the last one is really hard.
Would definitely take her again. She is well-organized, communicates clearly, and is very understanding. If you have questions, just reach out — she genuinely wants to help. complete the practice quizzes. And do well on the first four exam. She's the type of professor who truly wants to see all her students succeed and do well. Highly recommend
