Pretentious and prejudging

Very hard. Very mean. Interpretations of text which deviated from her own were not welcome but to parrot back what she said was recieved equally as poorly. She left my head spinning...
Nasty lady. If there is absolutely anyone else you can take this class with- do so. I don't think she even knows what she wants from her students. Overall she's a bitter and unfriendly.

You have to remain in a submissive to her. To get ahead and the mark you want you need to suck up, visit her after hours and attend every boring class
Boring, but helpful after class. Don't take her class if you have a full semester, as her class will take up most of your time.
after taking her i don't see what the big deal was. Make sure, however to have caffine ready for each class and if you make an effort to talk to her after class its not so bad. Also she likes it if you participate in class discussions.

Totally in her own little world. She likes to hear herself talk, has no concept of time managment, and I truly think she believes that she is the Queen of England. Totally does not get credit on the hot factor, either.
She should not be teaching, and not because she is hard, but because she has no idea what she wants... e.g. we spent 3 useless classes on bibliographies, and she still consults the text when asked a very simple question about it???

On the morning of Sept.11, just after the World Trade Centers had planes flown into them, she told us that it had nothing to do with us, our concern should be sonnets! This is crazy, she is out of touch and VERY insensitive, she should not be teaching.

Is an extremely hard marker, but she knows her stuff and I respect that. She is very intelligent and if students were more willing to express their own opinions in class it would make the class more interesting.

She doesn't really live up to her bad rap. Her lectures are very boring so have coffee ready. She is willing to help out people who need it, and her tests are not overly difficult. She may not be the greatest prof ever, but you don't need to be scared to take her classes.
I did not like her style of teaching. She was demanding, boring and watch out if you get on her bad side!
Worst teacher ever. At first you think she is tough b/c she's so informed and educated. Then you realize she's just a ****! Got a n/c on a 40% final paper WHICH SHE REVIEWED AND OKAYED! Never again. It's a shame- she teaches (or tries to) good classes.
Her lectures ARE quite boring, but it's the stuff you need to know. I found her to be a tough marker too - but after meeting with her she cleared up the questions that I had in a very approachable manner. Don't be afraid of her classes, she knows her stuff - just make sure you know yours!

The worst teacher I've ever had. Her lectures were so unbelievably boring that I found myself falling asleep even though it was gone noon. Coffee is no match for this woman. Ridiculously hard marker. She doesn't tell the class her expectations, and then whines when we all fail. Don't take her class
Worst teacher EVER! Started the 1st class saying, don't expect to get an A, if you meet the expectations of the assignment you get a C. What's with that anyway?? Highest mark in the class was a B+ and only one B. Didn't learn anything helpful about writing essays either.. take it with someone else!!
Worst teacher I've ever had. Does not help or lay out clear expectations. Used to love english, but she totally turned me off. Can be almost mean towards students, and openly states that she will not give anybody an A. She did not teach me a thing, stay away from her at all costs.

Honestly the worst teacher I have ever had!! Stay away from her boring lectures at all costs!!! She is full of herself, rude to students, and doesnt give you any encouragment to do well in her class, since she tells you on the first day that no one will get and A and half the class will fail!!
I don't know, I didn't get that bad of an impression from her. It's only the third week coming up though so I haven't handed anything in yet, however she never mentioned anything about everyone failing and she seemed like she wanted to be helpful. But we shall see I suppose!
Went into the course with great expectations, left never wanting to take another English course! She bored the entire class to death, never shut up once allowing students to give their input. Ah yes, but on the rare occasion a student managed to put forth an idea, she flogged it to death! I can't believe she is still teaching! UCFV could do w/o her
I think she is a pretty good teacher, I am only a 1st year, but I haven't experienced any rudeness, or her hogging all the discussion time. She is pretty open to class discussion and even jokes around. When I asked her about an essay, she was willing to help! Ya so she scared me at first but not anymore!
She is the hardest marker on staff at UCFV. I would never take another of her classes, because she is rude and treats her students like babies. I was an "A" student in high school english, and I received a P(pass) on her mid-term exam. She is boring and over explains things. Never ask her a question, because she stays on the same toppic for hours.
Worst english class I ever took I was considering English as my mojor but changed my mind because she teaches many of the upper level classes. She was so inconsiderate that she would not allow me an extention on my paper when my grandmother dies 5 days before it was due.
I pay for my education. I don't pay for prof's like her to be employed. Absolute worst prof i've ever had, if you're registered for one of her classes.... I BEG U DROP IT NOW!
Who knew a prof could turn a Shakespeare lover into a hater in 4 short months? So unbelievably boring and she may as well have been a room by herself because she didn't care about her students AT ALL. Low marks don't make one a good teacher and if you are going to give them, take time to tell students what you expect.
She marks way too hard, but does teach the basics of essay writing well. Avoid her if you can!
Absolutely horrible. Terrible lectures, bias marker, terrible terrible. Week after week is like torture. Go with her opinion on papers, or end up with a C. Totally unimpressed with Lisa. She should not be teaching.

I can never begin to guess how she is going to mark my papers... For example: I wrote a diagnostic essay and was unhappy with my mark so I talked with her about it. She told me I had great punctuation, grammar, transitions, etc, etc, but it was too superficial - not developed enough; and I received a C-. Her lessons are also boring as.. heck.
VERY boring lecture!! Get out of the class while you still can, or avoid registering for her class if at all possible!!! Shes a hard marker!!!
I was warned, I experienced and learned my lesson. If you have ANY interest in English and would like to hold onto it... avoid her.

i went into her 3rd year shakespeare class with a 3.8gpa in my 4tth year as an english major. She gave, me a "p" on my first essay after I rewrote it. I withdrew. easily the hardest proff's ive had.
Thought this would be an interesting subject and she KILLED it. Worst prof I've ever had!! Usually get A to A+ in English and got a C+, which I fought for. Boring prof. very surface level. Not open to new ideas in discussion. Unorganized. All around S***. Avoid at all costs.
I was warned about Lisa to begin with but I took the class anyway...I thought she was a great lady, clear and since I knew she was a hard marker I was not expected A's, I got a b the first essay I wrote and was happy about it. I heard about this website and searched it for the sole purpose of warning any student that might be thinking of taking one of her classes to RUN THE OTHER WAY!!!! worst prof in history.
Not easy to approach, boring lecture style, does not make class interesting or fun. Very rude when explaining the entire classes inability to write at a third year level and rude when returning emails, also very delayed response.
Terrible teacher... she has extremely boring lectures that drag on the entire class, luckily she is "sick" a lot and cancels a few classes... Also is a very biased marker.

Please, for the love of all that is good, don't take this class. You'll feel like shooting yourself in the foot after. I couldn't for the life of me stay awake in her class. No flare, no enticement...nothing to keep you interested. Who can talk about punctuation for three hours?!

Horrid class in every way, completely uninvested, missed a bunch of classes and marking was slightly unfair although I got a decent mark. So boring I felt suicidal after taking this class. Way to make a madatory class even worse!
Terrible teacher. For the love of God do not take a course with this woman. I always get A's in English and with her, not even close. Busted my butt for a C. Rewrote an essay 3 times, all to get a C. Watch out if she disagrees with your argument in an essay. This class was like banging your head against the wall. Complete frustration.
Horrible class. Take it with another teacher if you can! She marks very strictly, and does not care one bit about your opinion! And if she disagrees with something you say, look out!
Just the worst. It was supposed to be a composition couse but all she marked on was whether she agreed with what you wrote on. She never agrees. If you want to do well or keep your interest in English, avoid her.
It seems like lisa hates her job. She is very grumpy, and has a very rude attitude towards her students. Students fall asleep in class, and she teaches students things we learnt in high school! Worst teacher I have EVER had.
This professor was very rude to the students, and did not prepare all the time for classes. She seemed very uptight and most times grumpy to the students. Did not like all of the students who were in the class, had her favourites and then disrespected the others. Over all I would not recommend her to anyone.

I took English 105 in my first semester at UFV and hers was the first class I attended. I immediately doubted if I was going to enjoy university because of her teaching. She is dull, repetitive and completely unhelpful overall. English 105 is already a boring class, she just made it even worse.
I loved her class. She seems to have a bad rep, and I have no clue why. You have to attend, submit well written work, and prepare for class. Isn't that the point? I found her inspiring, helpful, and fair.
She is without a doubt the worst teacher known to mankind. For your own sake, do not take her class.
I took 4 English classes one semester and had her for 2. I worked my ass off and at the end my report was NC for 2 of her classes and 2 B's for the others. Every assignment I wrote had a page of all red in the back saying how awful my writing was and I quote "I stopped reading 2 pages in". How are you giving me F's if you haven't read my work.

She is extremely boring and in what seemed to be a fairly broad course managed to focus on one topic the entire time. Would recommend if you like naps.
Very helpful and definitely knows her stuff. She is a hard marker, but it forced me to become a better writer. She was always willing to help and an overall nice person
This professor is horrendous. She doesn't try to make class interesting and she's a very strict marker. I've always loved english and found this class SO boring. She teaches high school curriculum and prattles on and on about useless topics. Her miserable disposition makes the class even less enjoyable.
The topics she discusses during lecture are middle school level, and she's condescending. The only real reason to attend class is to get the assignment handouts -- she never uses the internet -- and she's a super picky marker. If you actually struggle with writing she might be helpful, but if you have any love for English, this class will ruin it.
Lisa might appear a little abrupt, but she genuinely cares about helping you improve your writing skills. She's looking for very specific things, both in discussions and in assignments, and it can be difficult to figure out what they are. If you show up and put in genuine effort into improving your writing, this class will be helpful.
If you ask for it, lisa is actually very helpful. She is easy to talk to and although her lectures are not the best, she is clear on instructions and will help you with assignments
I am learning way more on how to write academically in my ENG 099 class. Lisa is very skilled in English and knows her stuff, but fails to get the material across to her students. MLA was briefly discussed and I found that alot of things we did discuss were close to irrelevant to due assignments. Avoid her class like the plague, theres better Profs

If your writing does not agree with her opinion on the subject then good lucky passing that essay. Not the worst teacher I've ever had. But far far far from the best.
Lisa is kind and makes you feel welcome in class. She does not approve of the use of cell phones and expects participation. Be prepared to read at home a lot! Lisa did not set out her expectations clearly and I was worried about the few assignments we had. She was a fairly easy marker though which balanced out the lack of direction.
I had Lisa for Eng105. She talked the entire class and frowned upon ideas that weren't similar to hers. She is an extremely tough marker in her essays, and there's a lot of essays. She only takes attendance on specific days. She gives you a heads up on which days though. Overall, not a mean teacher, but a tough, talkative teacher.
I had Lisa for Eng 120 and I found her to be very helpful. She was always very accomodating and understanding and I found that she was an easy marker (as long as you try your best and participate). I would reccommend taking her class if you are okay with doing a lot of reading at home and coming prepared to participate in class! It's university!
Overall, pretty rude professor. Doesnt accept other people's viewpoints. Classes are super boring. Tough marker; I am an excellent english student, and I only received a B-. Avoid her!
Very dry class! Lecture is literally from middle school handbook. Talks lots, waste of time in class and does not accept ideas that don't agree with hers. Horrendous experience. Would not recommend!!
The most boring teacher you will ever meet, has the most pointless discussions, and the stupidest take on English 105. Mark was based purely off of essays. I took nothing away from the class despite attempting to listen to her most days.
