The best teacher!! Really cares about her students and willing to work with you! Gives tons of extra credit and extra points for coming for class! Ms. Uhlir changed her grading and she only lets you rewrite one essay exam not all them. She is now limiting your rework. So with the hard tests it is now an overall tough class but still worth every minute of attending. AMAZINGLY INTERESTING.

I took her during summer school - she's fabulous. Really teaches so that you can understand and recall the information. She goes through the philosophy behind government as well as the specifics of US Government. Tests are mostly Essay, so be prepared.

If you're a person who learns aurally, visually and with stories then this class will be very clear and concise to you. She tends to do into depth with the information she presents by real world applications. Never used the textbook, but if you miss class you will need to read the textbook. Her tests are fairly easy and are from the notes.

She is a very humorous and exciting professor. Don't take this class if you skip class often because you will not pass the exams by simply reading the book and she gives short and easy attendance quizzes in the beginning of class. We had a total of four exams. If you have an A after these four exams, you don't have to take the comprhensive final.

the class is very tough but Dr. Uhlir is very helpful and offers many opportunities for extra credit. You have to take details notes from her lectures and study everyday to succeed on the tests. if you do the extra credit and go to class everyday you'll do great.

It's impossible to fail this class. Gives tons of extra credit, has good lectures. I took Government twice before and dropped both times, she actually makes class interesting and fun. IMPOSSIBLE TO FAIL THIS CLASS!!! Show up, get attendance points, do extra credit. Don't need the book.

Paying attention is a must! She doesn't use power points so bring a notebook or audio recorder and be prepared to write. She makes the lecture material super interesting, and it's clear she's doing what she loves which makes the class so much more enjoyable. She also hands out LOADS of extra credit which is helpful because tests are difficult!!

Took her for a Maymester and she was amazing, I ended up with a 107% after doing ALL the extra credit and studied hard. She makes this class fun by interjecting stories and humor.

Amazing professor, one whose lectures and advice will stay with me forever. Take the 8-weeks session and you'll most likely get more M/C tests than essays. One of ours was even a take-home test. If you aren't a good note taker or critical thinker, you may struggle on tests, but there are plenty of fun extra credit opportunities to make up for it.

I was worried about taking a governemnt class but Professor Uhlir is amazing! She's really funny and her lectures are engaging. She gives plenty of extra credit opportunities and as long as you show up, you don't need to buy the book.

I know everyone is saying this but its super true, Dr U is hands down the best professor I've ever had. Her lectures are totally relatable. Just show up & take really good notes. She made Gov't so fun. very outgoing and spunky. no books needed, just write notes about her lecture and what she writes on the board. 4 test plus final. also drops a test if participation/attendance is higher. if you get 360 out of 400, the final is an automatic pass! her test are multiple choice, essays and define vocab. it was nuts, but fun!

Oh man this class is a joy! At first i thought she was crazy, after the first test i was 99% sure of it. As time passed she become much less crazy. Her lectures are fun and a joy to attend. Tests are difficult but once you learn how they work, you can get a good grade. A TON OF EASY EXTRA CREDIT. TAKE HER IF YOU CAN, because her classes fill up REAL quick.

Easy class, just pay attention and take good notes. But youll want to double check your tests; she has a tendency to mark correct answers as incorrect and in one case, directly gave the class a test answer during lecture as a reward when two students left right after attendance, but had an entirely different correct answer on the actual test.

She gives extra credit by asking questions about yourself every time you go, tests are online and come from lectures, literally every single question, she explains things in such a way that even a 2 year old monkey would remember. She made this one of my favorite classes although I hate history.

Amazing teacher who cares genuinely about her students. Very good overall, 100% would take for anything.

Hands down on of the best professors youll ever take. If you have a chance to take her class 1000% do it. Shes super caring. GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS. Participate in class. Her lectures are AMAZING. Your never going to be bored in her class shes super engaging. Id literally take Tex gov again just to sit through her lectures

Amazing professor. Take her class if you get the chance 100% worth it. Exams are difficult but if you show up to class and take notes or at least pay attention you'll pass. She gives tons of helpful tips for tests and for being a better student in general. 10/10 would recommend

Loved Dr. Uhlir. To pass her class, you need to pass the exams and do extra credit because there are no assignments. Her lectures are fun to listen to; you won't pass the exams if you're not paying attention. She makes attendance part of your grade so don't skip it. Her class was hard because of the exams, but if you take notes you will pass.

She is hands down one of the best professor. She really do care about students and you can tell just by looking how much extra worldly information she gives while she lectures. Her lectures are like story telling, you will love it. Tests are bit hard as you won't have any study materials except for what you note down during lecture. take her 100%

I love this professor I took GOVT-2305-20008 with her if you focus with her you will get it no book needed she tell really good story to explain the topic, only this is she only grade 5 tests so you need to have a good great on it to pass the class a lot of extra points really easy to get it do it will take GOVT-2306 with her again! ;)

Absolutely adored her class! If you don't work well without visual aides, this class isn't for you though. There's four tests + the final that she doesn't want you to take. It's super easy to make an A in the class. Test corrections on one, one take home, and one gets replaced with your attendance grade. Offers up to 50 pts of fun extra credit, too

I loved having Dr. Uhlir this semester! There are 4 tests total and are the only grades that she takes and is very particular that you read the instructions given. There are plenty of opportunities to earn an easy A in this class, in which you don't have to take the final! She also gives plenty of extra credit, so do it!

Mrs Uhlir was amazing. You NEED to take notes during class, it helps so much on her tests. She is super helpful with making sure you know how to study and gives out tons of extra credit. I had a 115 in her class after the first test. Only 4 tests, you don't have to take the final if you have an A after the 4th test.

I LOVED UHLIR, I think she is so real and relatable when she teaches her lectures. She uses relatable examples in her life to the philosophy ideas she shares. 4 main exams!! I exempted the last two by having good extra credit. DO HER EXTRA CREDIT OMG YOU WILL LITERALLY PASS WITH AN EASY B OR A! I'm definitely taking her for my Texas govt. class

Dr. Uhlir is amazing! She is a great speaker and educator. This class was so interesting I did not know what to expect but I was so lucky to have her as my professor. I would take any class she teaches. Show up, take notes and you can pass this class without having to take a final!

Amazing teacher! Took for both my government classes. No homework, only extra credit if you want it (DO IT) and 4 exams plus a final if you dont have an A in the class.

Would recommend for people who learn on just lectures. Doesn't use the text book but each class is just lecture, no power point or anything else to follow. Very much enjoyed her class but tests are hard. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT THAT IS OFFERED. Will help you in the end! was a hybrid class so we only met once a week and other lecture was online.

Dr. Uhlir is the very best thing that happened to me at college. SHE IS THE BEST TEACHER YOU WILL EVER HAVE. She is unbelievably gifted at teaching, and cares for her students. She wants her students to do well, and she goes above and beyond to help. Please take her. You will love her. She is hilarious, smart, engaging, and makes you think!!

Is a definite if you skip class, you won't pass. But gives you everything needed to do well on exams; lowest exam grade gets replaced by attendance grade. She is a very good teacher, I totally recommend her class! She gives out a lot of different activities for extra credit. Make sure you know how to take notes without using a power point reference since when she gives lesson is her just talking and using the board, no power points (but is not boring like other professors I promise).

Professor Uhlir is an amazing lecturer. She definitely has a way of making you think outside the box as far as just the philosophy of government goes and how it's all connected in what we see reflected in the constitution today. She also tells lectures through the lens of her life experiences which is refreshing because straight textbook = boring

Best professor ever! She gives very engaging and thorough lectures that you learn so much from. She wants you to succeed and wants you to vote! Texas is a very unique state and she really drives that home!

Dr. Uhlir has a unique way of teaching. Her lectures are purely auditory, so either audio record the lectures or write/type notes fast! She tells the most amazing stories and relates them to the lecture topics. Try your best on the exams, DO NOT MISS CLASS, and keep up with your extra credit! Do not worry about your final grade - it all works out!

I've now gotten to take her for both Governments, however she won't be teaching Texas next semester; but if you're looking for a Fed Gov't professor I recommend her. Attendance replaces lowest test. Get to make corrections to Test 1. 50 pts available in EC. Have an A; exempt from final.

I recommend this teacher, she's amazing at what she teaches and brings up her personal life a lot. I don't think it matters, most of it she try's to relate to a topic we're learning and sometimes it gives me a break for my brain to drift.

Great teacher! I took her July class. It was very fast-paced/intense, but her lecture style made it enjoyable. She tells a LOT of stories, but they can really help drive her points home. Attendance is crucial. No homework, just exams. Exams are VERY scary, but trust the process. It works out. She offers plenty of extra credit which helps a lot :)

Dr. Uhlir makes your effort worthwhile. I took her federal section in 5 weeks and her syllabus scared me to death, but if you GO TO EVERY CLASS and work hard and DO THE EXTRA CREDIT the hard tests she hands out will matter much less than they seem on syllabus day. Although the tests were hard, I was able to get an A on her first exam so just study

She expresses excessive emotion in her lectures, which I found to be distracting. Compared to the in- person lectures, I learned the material better by listening to her recorded lectures that she sent us and taking notes on them. I utilized the plentiful amount of extra credit opportunities and the attendance grade which replaces lowest exam grade.

Dr. Uhlir's class was engaging, though her lectures could veer off-topic at times. Attendance is crucial, as she offers extra credit opportunities and your attendance grade can replace your lowest exam score. I found unstuckstudy ai helpful for exam prep alongside the lectures.

I genuinely do not have enough great things to say about this professor. She was very funny, kind, accessible, & interactive! Next to no homework in her class though the tests are long, but as long as you dedicate time to studying and paying attention during her lectures, the tests are a walk in the park. A lot of opportunities for extra credit!

I appreciate Dr.Uhlir's knowledge and such a rich story telling. Every lecture was history mixed in with a little bit of current world examples and this really made it easy to grasp. She's a cool lady too and her world view is fascinating and I enjoyed that she would bring that into lectures as well. Test are tough so show up and take notes.

Dr. Uhlir is an amazing professor, shes really knowledgeable and relatable. All the lectures in class are engaging and actually very interesting. You're also not graded by alot (4 test and small assignments.) Even with this in mind she gives alot of extra credit which can move you a letter grade up. She even allows makeups on some exams. So engaging and wildly intelligent. As someone who's always struggled with lecture heavy classes, she made it really easy for me to follow and take notes. If you don't show up or take notes, you will not do well, but if you do show up and pay attention, it's really easy to get an A. (Also her lore drops are insane)

She is AMAZING, if there is anything it don't like, its a boring professor. She is a great speaker, her stories are fun and engaging, she presents her material perfectly and she has SO much easy extra credit. Amazing professor, hope I can take her again

More than a good professor, but a great person! Not only was the class incredibly engaging, I laughed. I have terrible ADHD, but I was engaged the whole class. She does use lots of personal stories in her lectures, but they are wonderful anecdotes that really helped me remember for tests. The tests are incredibly long, but she was so accommodating!

Class everyday will be lectures, but her lectures are engaging. She ties in life stories to help people better understand the material.
