Great teacher. She's very funny, gives you outlines for every test, and reviews the previous class meetings before actually starting class. If you haven't already, get into her classes

She is a really great teacher and a great person. She's funny and very clear on what to do. If you try you will be able to do well in her class. Her test are not all essay like some of the other history teachers. Take her for history if you can she is so cool.

Ms. Welch is an amazing professor!! She is very clear on what she wants and expects the same out of you!! She is hilarious and makes history interesting. If you put effort into what you need to do you will do just fine in her class. She is GREAT!
Ms. Welch is a great teacher and knows her subject well. I enjoyed her class very much. I am amazed at her ability to remember facts and dates and speak with eloquence and grace.
Mrs.Welsh is awesome! She is very funny and makes this class interesting, but she is all business and stays on track. She is very fast paced though, but if you need help she will help you! The class is not hard, but you do need to be serious and study.
Enjoyed her class very much. Her lecture was very clear, interesting, and you can always tell what she wants you to write down when she's lecturing. Very knowledgeble professor.
Not easy, but definately not hard. She jokes a lot and will let the class discuss history making it easier to remember. She always goes over the study guide and the extra credit goes a long way to help you get that A. Her final is extremely hard, but if you have an A before it, you'll pretty much get an A in the class.
She is very nice and funny. I liked her class, because she keeps the atmosphere interesting and fun!
She's very animated! Keeps the student interested! I would definitely take her again!
Tough, but as long as you study the study guide, you'll do good. Do good on the extra credit quizzes, they really give you points on your exam. She's funny and has an extremely outgoing personality.
She goes too fast and I cannot keep up with her. Also, she never gives out assignments beside the book review. How are we supposed to study thouroughly?
You HAVE to read the reveiw sheets and know them inside out!!!! Never miss class or you will miss alot! Use the online service that you get with the book. The book review takes more tme then you think do it early and turn it in early. If your looking for an easy A its not in her class, her class is fun and you learn alot but its not easy.
I liked this teacher a lot! If you know the study guide you are set. She is very funny and doesnt always stick to the lecture. She gets off track easily but it is a nice change. After all history isn't the most interesting subject.
She is a very funny teacher, makes class interesting. The class requires a lot of studying, but if you know the study guide inside and out you will do good.
She is not funny. Stop making lame jokes.
A great professor. Great laughs. Thourough lectures and knowledge of material. Fantastic person.
Pretty good, seems to have a high drop rate though.
She's a good teacher if you're an auditory learner. She does a lot of lecturing, and not much homework. She gives quite a bit of extra credit, but its in quiz form before the test. If you study and know the study guide well you'll do fine in the class.
I liked her because she was very clear on her lectures and what she wanted you to remember. I really haven't had a history professor since as clear as she was on her notes. I didn't like that she got off subject real easy, and it really frustrated me. She requires a book review but doesn't really reference the text book much.
Completed History 1301 & 02 with Ms. Welch. Didn't even know I had a love for history until I took her class. I loved the constant reviewing. It helps to put everything in perspective. You will have no problems in this class if you like to learn. I give the highest marks to Ms. Welch for being an excellent professor, and making history fun.
she is a good teacher but she isnt easy.....you have to use all the sources she gives you and pay attention because if you dont you will be lost come test time.
I hated the thought of HIstory before this class and now I really do like it! Everyone in these ratings says shes hard but I thought she was the easiest teacher I've had. Plus she is funny, she tells jokes and keeps the class going. She gives extra credit in quiz form before the test. She also has you write 3, 3 page papers. If you want an A take h
If you love long boring lectures this class is for you! I found it extremely hard to stay awake in this class! It's literally all lecture! She lectures as if she was reading from a book. So monotoned no expression on her face and just sits on her desk. Overall she was boring and not helpful.
The class is very boring to me. Ms.Welch is very nice and teaches the material well. She reviews and reviews and reviews! She is not the boring one, the material covered is boring! She makes jokes and laughs alot during the class, andjokes around with the students, at least tries to make the class more interesting. Good teacher.Boring Class!
She makes class intresting and fun. She does a great job at reviewing previous lectures before introducing new material.
she was an amazing teacher! history is my least favorite subject but she made it easy to learn by constantly reviewing. i had her during the summer so naturally we went fast but still at an exceptional pace. I found her to be such an awesome teacher i requested her for 1302.
Great teacher! gives you a study guide- take lots of notes, record the lecture cause she moves fast and memorize it- instant A if you put the effort to learning the guide. loved her personality, very approachable and she loves her history. gives LOTS of extra credit- do it!!!
Great teacher! Shes the best at lecturing. Be sure to record lectures. I took her Sum 1 and made an A. I would listen to her lectures every afternoon on my evening run. Tests are straight from her study guides. I loved her, shes so funny! I miss her class and I can't wait for Hist 2.
If you like lecturing than take this class. It was very hard for me to stary awake in this class. She did make jokes and try to make the class interesting but it just wasn't. She was very helpful though. Easy to talk to. Her class was not easy though. Keep up with her notes. She goes fast.
The best professor I've had so far. Very funny and reviews the previous class lecture every class so you dont forget the material. If you want to make an A then pay attention to the study guides she gives you. Everything on the test are in the study guide no surprises. Also you need to turn in all three papers assigned to get your extra credit.
She has been one of my favorite professors so far in college, she's extremely helpful and fair in every way. She definitely knows her material and not to mention super funny when she lectures which keeps your attention easily!
gives you all the info you need for exams. you will definitely get an A if you study what she tells you to.
Summer I 2013 - Was the most challenging summer class, however, if YOU WANT TO PASS then ATTEND class, COMPLETE your essay assignments, READ your textbook, GET IN a study group to work on memorization. It IS possible make an A in this class if you do YOUR PART. Ms. Welch is funny in her lectures but do your work!
Wonderful teacher. Just pay attention and STUDY guides!
I have always hated history! I use to constantly comment that history should be an elective until I took her class! She is very interesting and it's an easy A if you simply pay attention. Although, I don't see how you couldn't in her class :D
She makes it so fun!!!! Great prof and loves what she does!!!
Great Lectures. Very animated and loves what she does. At the beginning of the fall session, I found myself very bored in her class and not paying attention. However, as time progressed I started to realize that she was giving me every opportunity to succeed in her class. She is very funny and very helpful. Awesome instructor.
Biggest plus was how clear she was. First day of class she handed out a 4-5 page syllabus that included clear grading criteria, easy to understand list of dates for when assignments were due, as well as the day of the final. She is also very entertaining and clearly goes through the material. Take plenty of notes and it should be a easy class.
I've always liked history and she made me so much more interested in it. She uses the book mainly for maps and documents and lectures the whole time but she makes it funny. She gives study guides for every exam and most of what she says is on there but take lots of notes. Exams are long but fairly easy if you study and pay attention in clas
Welch is awesome, great professor always willing to help when needed. This class takes work and studying to make the A, but it's all fairly easy if you put in the effort. I would recommend her to all students who need to take History 130102.
All you have to do is pay attention, and DO THE ESSAYS SHE ASSIGNS. It's really worth it at the end of the semester because the extra credit adds up.
Ms. Welch is fast paced, you really have to pay attention in her class, but she is great! As long as you attend and pay attention you will do well. If you miss days you might end up completely lost, a lot gets covered in one day. Be prepared to take notes! Some essays but they are pretty easy.
Ms. Welch goes way beyond herself to help out the students to make sure they pass her class is also interesting and I now like history and understand it :)
She's a great teacher and gives u a study guide which is your holy grail for the class. I'm not very good at history because it's hard 2remember dates, names,& maps. Her tests r hard and the only way you get a good grade is if you put TIME into studying every week. If your a lazy student don't expect to pass. And RECORD her lectures, she talks fast.
Normally history is a hard subject, but Ms Welch makes it fun and exciting. She is forever cracking jokes about everything! Never a boring lecture! One of the best teachers I've ever come across! Tests are some what difficult, only if you do not study. Just show up for class, turn in assignments, study, and you'll be fine. :)
Ms. Welch is alright. She's funny. I don't like history. Just pay attention and take notes. Read the chapters. That's all I can say.
I always found history to be uninteresting until I took Hist 1301 in the summer with Ms. Welch. There is alot to learn and her study guides match her tests perfectly. She makes sure to go over key points on previous lectures everyday. Not to mention, a TON of extra credit opportunities. I can't fully express enough, how much I enjoyed her class.
Proffesor Welch is hands down my favorite teacher I've ever had. If you show up to class she repeatedly goes over the material for test, and you actually learn from her instead of a book. This is my second time taking her and I made an A in both classes. The test are a little hard but if you study it's an easy A. Favorite class so far!
I love Mrs. Welch! Her tests are tough if you do not do the reading at home. She is not going to hold your hand, but she will give you every chance to succeed that she is able to! Wonderful lady!
She gives you the study guides for each exam. These are the KEY to the tests. She repeats key points at the beginning of each class. The class period before the test you take a map quiz that is extra credit for the exam. She is hilarious! We wrote 3 short & easy papers. It is history so there is a TON of info & notecards will be your bestfriend!
She gives amazing lectures! Go to class because there are some things that aren't in the notes but only said in lecture, but as long as you show up to class, do a little extra note taking, and study a bit, you should easily get an A. On top of that, she gives several chances for extra credit. Super sweet and funny! Definitely would recommend
Great lectures and she's hilariously fun. Very good history professor.
If you need to take history, she is the clear choice. Very funny and easy to pay attention to. She gives out a ton of extra credit and is very clear about what will be on tests and quizzes. You only do three papers throughout the semester and only makes you read the book in order to do writing assignments. Overall, very easy if you pay attention.
Probably one of the coolest professors I've had. The exams are not hard at all. Since i took her in the summer, everything was accelerated. This didn't affect the overall difficulty of the class. She expects a lot out of every single one of her students. Her lectures are not boring in any way. Bottom line... TAKE HER!!!!
Lisa Welch was amazing. She does not teach History in a boring way at all. She goes over the test questions and is very clear about what will be on test. Very easy to get an A if your willing to work for it. She was a very wonderful professor!
Found her test to be very difficult, I wish i would have gone with a different teacher. She overloads you when it comes to studying for test. Way to much to intake, it a set up for failure.
I absolutely loved her! She was informative, funny and very approachable. Some reading is required but she also gives you handouts to study from. They helped tremendously! She also gives multiple chances for extra credit. I'm surprised people actually fail this class. She's great! If you pay attention and study you'll do great. Highly recommend!!
I agree with the last rating, she is very difficult gives way to much to study. Lighten up a little bit and there is already so much to learn much she put the map test in question form. For real!!!! Keep it 100% We are not dumb, if your want better results change your teaching habits. Leave Essays for English not history. To much to learn already
I took Ms. Welch for both History 1301 & 1302, I love her! She is hilarious, nice and made lecture fun! She has printed notes, just follow her along in lecture and highlight. She gives study guides as well. She isn't easy but she isn't hard, STUDY NOTES! Her extra credit quizzes helped my grade as well! So there shouldn't be a reason to fail.
She's the toughest History teacher at DMC. But if you want to learn history and not just pass a class take her. She is extremely knowledgeable and loves interaction. She talks fast so be prepared to either record the class or take notes quickly. Find a study group or go to Quizlets for guides. VERY HARD but you learn a lot. Hard tests.
I have never been a fan of History but she makes it fun. Her tests are pretty tough but as long as you read the material and the notes she gives you, you will be fine.
She's a wonderful professor who makes learning history fun, as if it wasn't fun already. I love her jokes and teaching style. She is one of my favorite professors. We both like Hamilton: An American Musical and made jokes to each other during class. The course material was easy, but you have to work for it!
I took her during the summer and she was really funny. She made my 8 am class worthwhile. She gave study guides but you have to show up to class because not everything on the test was on the study guide. She gives you extra credit quizzes and three papers, but they are not hard. Overall, I really enjoyed her class and would recommend :)
This teacher goes way too fast and doesnt make class interesting or easy to keep up with.
My favorite professor my first semester at 8am. Her grading criteria is super clear. She makes jokes that she only laughs at, but you laugh with her. Super friendly lady!
I enjoyed the class a lot. My learning style is leacture heavy so this was perfect. She gives out all the info you need for all the tests. The home work would be 3 papers and then you have quizzes and exams. I enjoyed the class so much that I took her in HIST 1302. She helped me get back into the swing of things in school. I recommend her.
The exams are ridiculous long about 100 questions some being multiple choice, other being true false, matching and fill in the blank on top of a short essay each exam. She teaches too fast and isn't very specific.
You'll get an A if you're willing to attend the class.
She is truly a hilarious woman and she made history even more interesting when she combined it with her humor. I took her during the summer and she has great study guides for the exams. There were 3 papers we had to turn in but the grading wasn't hard at all. I wish I would've studied more to receive an A but she made me love history more.
This class is work & has a lot of writing, but as long as you keep up and do your work you'll do well! She gives you all the study guides for the exams and all I did was memorize those and a few maps. She give out a lot of extra credit as well. Just keep up, do the work, and study the study guides. I didnt even open my book in 1301 or 1302
There is absolutely NO reason why anyone taking her classes shouldnt pass with flying colors! Her lectures are important she follows a study guide SHE makes for every student to a T. Follow the study guide read a little & take notes, turn in things on time for full credit & youre sure to get an A!
Shes fun and shell work with you when you need it. Not a super hard class, but but attendance is vital.
Ms. Welch truly makes History more interesting to learn about than your average prof. She's hilarious, kind hearted, easy to talk to, offers extra credit throughout (even on the final) and is clear about her grading criteria. She gives out 4 study guides in the semester and thoroughly explains each one. Study your guides, and you'll make an A.
I took her for 1301 and 1302 and I made an A in both semesters! She is an awesome professor and super funny! Only three assigned papers through the semester and extra credit quizzes as well! If you struggle with history I highly suggest taking her class because it really helped me! She also gives extra credit on her final exam!
Awesome teacher, super funny & really makes the class interesting. She explains people or dates in the most memorable way. Really good study guide given. Test are lengthy & really make you think. Also, you need to turn in 3 papers for credit per paper & to keep extra credit points, class day before test day she gives a mini test and learn your maps
Easy to learn from
She is amazing! talks fast but does recap at the beginning of each class. Has a thorough study guide and follows it closely. I had a good amount of absences, but I kept up with reading and all assignments and made almost a 100 with all the extra credit points. A lot of information but if you keep up with reading, you should be fine.
Overall, she was a good teacher just didn't really clearly communicate with the class I feel like. I got about 2 emails over the semester. I did take take her for a summer course so it was very intense but if you read the chapters, you'll do fine. I wouldn't reccomend if you dont have a lot of time to read/study.
My only critique is the test she gave, she would only allow a 60-minute time limit with 60 questions per test, however, one or more questions would have a 7-10 part matching section on historical figures and events. It stressed me out because it would leave less than 1 minute to answer per question. Overall her class was ok to take.
I didn't really like this class for the lack of interaction.
Lack of feed back but if you read you will be good
I absolutely loved having Professor Welch for history. I had taken her for US History 1 and loved her so much I took her again for History 2. She offers lots of extra credit quizzes and provides helpful study guides and activity sheets for tests. She genuinely cares about her students success and is very fair with her grading. 10/10
This professor is very knowledgeable, professional, and hilarious. A true gem! She is organized and her structure is easy to follow. If you take advantage of taking notes and turn in your assignments on time you will do well. She also gives you opportunities for extra credit. Tests are timed and long so make sure you read and take notes.
Teacher is a self important blow hard who isnt teaching what she would rather be, and takes it out on her students. Creates a scam work around with her grading to fail specific students. If you miss even one optional assignment, she will remove half your grades and give you zeros instead. Save your GPA and RUN.
I loved her teaching method. Her syllabus is very clear and she sticks to it. Her chapter reviews and activity guides are amazing and so much help. She makes learning History fun. Thank you Ms. Welch!
Had an awesome experience with the material and assignments. Time is a little short on the quizzes and tests, but her study guides and maps make studying easy and fun. Good amount of extra credit too. Really wish I had been able to take the class in person. Took History 1302 with her as well, also a great experience.
This professor helped me to understand the content in HIST 1302. Having made a C in 1301 with a different professor, I made a high A this semester. She provides study guides not to mention everything on the study guide was on the quizzes and exams. I recommend going to lectures because she doesn't post them on Canvas. She really wants you to pass!
She seems like a good professor but the tests given were not enough time for the amount of questions. Never got to finish the tests because of too little time. If you have time to read all chapters and study you will be good but if you don't I recommend not taking her class. Make sure to study your maps also.
Ms. Welch's method of teaching is very structured. She lays out exactly what is expected of you on her syllabus. Her lectures and reading are required. Also, she offers extra credit for your taking. I wish every professor would implement this type of teaching structure to their method of teaching.
A lot of extra credit opportunities, very straight to the point and gives you everything you need to make an A+.
She made learning history fun. She gives you study guides, map guides, and fill in the blank answers that are super helpful on tests. Her lectures are basically going over the study guide and as long as you pay attention you will ace this class. Quizzes and tests are short on time but nothing too bad. Offers a lot of extra credit and clear rubric.
Took her for an 8week course. She gives a study guide for each exam section and teaches right from it. Quizzes are extra credit but you lose all extra credit points if you dont turn in all assignments. Theres 3 short(2pages) writing assignments. All assignments are done on canvas and are open for 2 days. Easy if you go to class, she reviews a lot.
Wouldn't recommend taking her class in the summer. She provides worksheets to study, no lectures, which I don't really mind. However. I found it difficult with the short amount of time. Also don't like how the tests are timed, made me feel rushed and couldn't read the questions thoroughly. Felt like I never actually completed a test.
I absolutely LOVED this professor. She gave VERY clear study material. Everything that was on the quizzes and tests were on the study guides minus a few things that could be found in the reading. And she gives so much extra credit there is 0 reason to fail this class. I really appreciated her and wish I could have her again
Prof Welch was nice and funny, but didn't seem very dedicated. She seemed resistant to professional growth and has clearly been repeating the same lectures for years (some parts of which are inaccurate). Overall the class was a bunch of memorization of detail with no big picture. She was also slow too respond to emails and constantly late to class!
