If you don't mind participating take her! Don't really have to read...just have a sense...if you particpate and listen in class you can pass the exams with almost no studying...i never studied and came out with A-...take her!

Although her class is really boring she is a pretty easy teacher. You have to participate a lot but she is really understanding when it comes to missing classes or being late on assignments.

Class participation is the key to getting a good grade in her class. You do not have to do the readings, but speak up once you get an idea of what the poem is about, even if it's repeating what someone else just said in different words. It is very easy.

Her english is not an english, her does work on speeling and grammer, she wants the student to to go in deepth with the reading(it is a little hard), She is an OK teacher, very nice though, will help you

She is a little flighty, and will agree with mostly anything you say. Only three papers and a journal to be handed in. Kind of boring and the class relies on class discussion but overall not too bad.

very nice lady. is a tough grader and definately makes you work for her class. more writing intensive, very little reading. maybe not the easiest english class but ppl who didnt work very hard managed b's and c's.

If you dont like poetry,obviously this isnt going to be your favorite class. some say she's hard grader, i think she's easy. you have to give poetry a chance. and participate, which ='s better grade anyway. i really liked her.learned alot of little things from this class, which helps me in lit.

she thinks the stars talk to her and if you ask me she is a little crazy, but overall a nice teacher. She is an easy grader and there are only 2 papers and a journal, no exams. and she excepts late papers and rewrites. Not a very interesting class, but its a pretty easy one.

she's the best teacher i've had at ramapo. knows her stuff and is always willing to help. she respects students and their ideas and believes in us. she makes class interesting and fun! don't leave ramapo without taking her!!!!

I think a lot of people **** about Williams because she really knows her stuff and expects everyone else to keep up. She's VERY good at what she does, and she knows good writing...this isn't a class you can coast in. Show up, do the work, listen, and TRY, and you'll be fine. She lets you do rewrites and gives a lot of feedback. I loved her.

she is intersting and expcts her stdnts to work hard and go over their persnl lmts, i learned a lot in her class not only about poetry but about life as well. these other cmts are made about her because they are from stdns who didnt wnt to wrk hrd and now they are suffering. if you wnat a good challenge and an understanding teacher take her class

I love this woman! She is so nice; I have her for Readings in Poetry and she has a great outlook on things. She clearly loves poetry, although the journals can be tedious and boring it is all going to be worth it. I would suggest taking her at least one semester.

Not bad not great. If you don't want to get called out, anwser the easy questions. Did pretty poorly on my papers (I thought I wrote pretty good before attending this class) apparently I suck ... but still managed to pull out a B for my final grade.

Good teacher. She is extremely nice, and give good feedback on papers. Had her for Poetry, and learned alot. Her classes are very much worth taking.

She grades essays a bit harshly, but she's available to help you out in her office hours. There are discussions. She'll say her opinion of a story (and tends to ramble at times). If nobody answers, she will call on you for your opinion. You definitely have to speak up in class. Overall, the class is worth the challenge.

She is a good teacher. Her classes are fairly easy, as long as you do the work. The papers are not bad at all. People who criticze her probably never showed up to class.

People say she's a tough grader, but I finished with an A. She's such a nice lady though. If you make it known that you're trying hard, she'll be understanding. Just don't slack on your papers and try to show up for class.

Awesome english professor! I was terrible at English all throughout high school and entered College English worried. She challenges students to write the best papers possible and she helped me tremendously. It's a nice amount of work but it is ABSOLUTELY worth it! Take her!

Class really isn't that bad as people are making it out to be. When it comes to writing a paper, usually the whole class discusses once or twice beforehand. Sometimes she will even give you a few classes in the lab to write there. She grades papers a little tough, but if you are a decent writer you should be able to make it out with a high B.

I loved Lisa Williams. I felt she was really fair in the way she graded and very helpful when it came to writing papers. A lot of discussion on the text and plenty of time in class to write the papers.

Best english professor I ever had! She actually knows what she's talking about and she's a very fair grader. If you know how to write take her and you'll get at least an A-. Essay topics are discussed in class so you get all you're ideas for the lecture. I loved her!

Took her for Readings in Poetry. Do everyone a favor and read at least one poem before class and try to talk. The class can be awkward if no one says anything, and she can get mad, but if you at least pipe in occasionally she'll appreciate it and you'll snag an easy A.

When or class didn't do well on the midterm she immediately offered an extra credit project to boost our grades. She is proud of you when you put forth genuine effort and loves teaching. She's passionate about writing and really wants to make your writing better. Does prefer some writing styles over others. Every essay can be rewritten, so you can get a better grade. Pretty good overall.

Participation is huge as well as writing well. Just show an interest and you will get an easy grade.

I would take her again after getting a good grade. She was very helpful and helped out with a lot of homework.

This is my third class I've taken with her, and she really does want every student's writing to get better. In my first class, I was getting B's and B-'s on every paper, and now she's giving me A's. She provided me with an opportunity to present my essay at a conference and get it published! She's the sweetest lady, and really would recommend her!

She is very passionate about what she teaches and she will expect you to return that passion or at least engage with the material. She is kind of socially awkward but a very nice woman and will go out of her way to help you learn the material and succeed in her class, as long as you show her you care. Study for her tests or you will NOT pass.

She expects you to participate and will call on you if you haven't talked for awhile. She is really sweet and just a little awkward but really nice. She's a clear grader and wants to make sure you understand her notes. She is so accessible and is great to meet with and discuss your paper.

Professor Williams was a great Readings in Poetry Professor. The forums almost every night can get a little annoying, but can only help your overall grade. Participate during class, actually attend class, and you'll do fine. Kind of a hard grader, but you can revise papers. She's a sweet woman, so stay on her good side, and stay awake in class.

This is my 2nd class with Prof Williams, and boy let me tell you! Participate. Even if you don't know what you're talking about, just say something. Stay on her good side by coming to class on time and staying off your phone. Make sure to keep up with readings and please please just participate. This will only help you when final grades are due.

She really cares about your participation and the work you put into her class. Very understanding and easy to talk to. Just make sure to participate and ask for help if you need to and you should be fine.

Very sweet woman who genuinely cares about her students. If you are respectful you will receive the same in return. She gives you lots of time to do essays and you get two tries for each essay as well. Her feedback is actually helpful and are things you can carry on to your future writing courses.

Williams is wonderful. She cares so deeply and passionately about what she teaches. She will absolutely help you become a better writer with some tough love. Give her a chance! I took her for my first-year seminar class, and thoroughly enjoyed the course. She tries to incorporate things from her generation and younger generations and is very open-minded. You'll love this class if you love music and analyzing lyrics. She has a strict no laptops or phones policy which is a bit annoying, but you get used to it.

She's a tough professor, and honestly has put me through a lot in terms of writing, but I did learn a lot from her, so I can't rate her too harshly. She's just really tough on grading if she really sees something in you, and it can get tedious or frustrating at times. But she's also an empathetic person. Keep phones away tho, it's her #1 pet peeve

If u use a laptop but participate she will not care.Will always grant extensions. lots of reading(almost all can found in free pdfs tho).Her essays are easy if u prove ur point and try to add some emotion to it and if it has any semblance of structure and you care about what ur writing about u will always get the A. I took this class in spring 2024, and the professor was really nice and understanding. She's an easy grader except on essays but lets you fix mistakes and resubmit. She even accepted my group project after the class ended. I recommend taking her in person for better help.

I took my FYS with Professor Williams, and had her again for this course, it's not very difficult, but you have to come in ready to talk, I think my classmates really made it good, if I were in a silent class I wouldn't have liked it as much.
