Amazing educator! & hilarious!
Nice teacher, helps when you ask for it, like to give quizzes. Testing is hard there are multiple choice ,written ,and practical. She doesn't really like the subject she'll tell you. She'll say she's more into the biology of plants. She doesnt give extra credit so be on your game! You will be self teaching in this class! I recommend going to the la
Great professor. i did not have a book. her lectures and notes are pretty clear. she does not give slides of her lectures. make sure write down everything she says on lectures, it will come up on test. quizzes 10 questions long. gives extra questions for extra points. she does not like when students talk during lectures, it interrupts her.
She was a sub for my Bio 3 class for 2 months and she was amazing! Her lectures are very clear and easy to study off of. She also gives a great study guide. She's always there for you when you need help! I didn't buy the book and I didn't need it
Prof Zung was a sub for our Bio 3 class. She lectures fast, but gives you very organized notes that you fill in during class. She went above and beyond creating notes based on our book and made sure we had study guides before each test. The tests weren't super easy, but she gives you all tools and help you need to get an A if you study hard.
TAKE HER! She's pretty easy. She gives you the outline of the notes before class and in class you need to finished them during her lecture. Test and final she gives you a study guide and it's all based on your notes. She doesn't do anything by surprise. Labs are easy and full. She's always there to answer your questions.
She cares about the class not talking too much, but that's like every professor. She stays on track and is really cool. Test and final is multiple choice and 10 fill in the blank question and 5-7 short answer (where she lets you pick which ones to answer). You must study! Can't pass without it, but she gives everything to you so it isn't hard to do
Zung posted detailed notes online which she covered even further during lecture. I did not buy the book. You will have to study in order to pass, but she makes it very easy.
She clearly doesn't know the subject well herself, Horrible teaching skills, Pretty much lets you learn on your own, Not helpful at all, Piles tons and tons of information in very little time, tests are ridiculous. Stressful beyond words.
never had such a professor who would teach so little but require so much. No teaching in labs. Most of material is studying on you own. You will find yourself memorizing things for hours every week which you will forget in a few days after exams.
HORRIBLE PROFESSOR ! If she comes to class not prepared with the lecture and has to use a students printed notes to READ off of and expects us to learn material and do homework for it an entire class ahead you're not a professor you're a joke.
Took Bio 3 with Prof. Zung and it was an experience. Her tests are hard, but she provides you with everything you need to pass them. Show up, listen to her lectures, write down notes, and ask questions if you have them. She was always available to help students who needed help understanding the material. It's a hard class, but it is a college class
I took professor Zung's class during the summer and although I did not pass her class, I do think that she is a good professor. Her quizzes are pretty easy if you study her notes. Reading the book is a must because some questions come from things not covered in lecture notes. that study time. I enjoyed her class nonetheless.
Probably one of the harder classes I've taken on campus. The lectures are extremely boring and she literally reads off the slide. People started dropping like flies. The class got smaller and smaller each week. Will definitely not recommend taking her class.
You pretty much have to teach yourself. Not very helpful. Her lectures are really long and boring. Had to teach myself almost everything. She isn't very prepared for class. Most of the time she reads off her PowerPoint.
WORST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD. Not clear what so ever when it comes to teaching. Her tests are ridiculously hard and not remotely close to anything she teaches in the PPT. She has a very big attitude when you ask her something and she teaches way too fast. Had to drop the class middle of the semester. Would NOT recommend.
Good teacher but her test are so hard lot of stress full hours need to be on ur game
If you know biology then she's a great professor, if you don't then do not take her!! Find a different professor. She moves very quickly and does not give you time to learn.
Hardest Professor ive ever taken. Takes her job very serious (which is a good thing) but over exaggerates. There is even a proctor in the room for exams. Be prepared to study like there is no tomorrow. Book is a must!
Like any regular anatomy class it requires a lot of studying. She is very helpful and funny in a geeky way. Her tests are very tough but doable once you have studied a lot. Definitely would take her again.
She is a great professor and test are based on her notes and lectures are mostly based on the outline notes she provides on haiku, but do be aware it is a college course. She does expect you to know everything so study and you will do fine on her test because they are hard. Also don't miss class, lab, or be late to any she will notice and warn you
Her test are hard, she doesn't inspired students to pass the class instead she encourage you to drop it. She explain too fast. Don't miss class or you won't pass, I wouldn't take her again
she doesn't inspired students to pass the class instead she encourage you to drop it. She explain too fast and her class is boring I wouldn't take her again
I rather watch paint dry, then goto class and listen her. Knowing I still have to read the book. Thank you text book for teaching biology.
She's the worse professor in valley college!! Whenever she lectures, she always rushes things up especially when she's running out of time! She doesn't care if you won't be able to take your notes! whats important for her is to finish her lecture rather than the students to take note!
Wouldn't recommend taking her at all. She's not the best professor but she isn't the worst either. She doesn't seem very approachable, but if you ask her questions she'll help you. Her lectures are boring, you're better off reading the book. Tests are hard but not impossible to pass. Homeworks, quizzes, and labs are easy points.
Overall, this was a great class. I took her for Bio 3 and Anatomy. I would totally take her again. Anatomy was the harder one, she really makes you work for your grade, and that's how it's supposed to be. I honestly learned a lot in the class. I loved it. It feels good to know you earned the grade you deserved.
I don't understand why people think she's such a hard professor. She really spoon-feeds you everything, even providing study guides. If you actually pay attention in lecture, you'll do great. For one of the exams I didn't even read the textbook just to see what I would get, and I still got an A. Will take her for Anatomy!
Professor Zung's difficulty is what is expected when one attends a college level class. It is challenging for those with a lack of study habits, okay if one studies on average, and easy if one dedicates their life to it. Her exit quizzes are based on the lecture given the same day which forces you to study it to pass, but really prepares you.
Poor teaching skills. All she does is read off a powerpoint. The study guides she provides are not helpful because they are so simple as opposed to her exams which ask about topics in full detail. She is not approachable at all and is very rude. Most people end up dropping, maybe because her class is very boring, no one seems happy to be there.
She is not a bad professor, I'm Glad I took her over any other anatomy teacher. Her tests are hard but what upsets me is that her study guide makes u study 10 times more then what the test asks and its just a lot to study. Also she takes 2 weeks to grade papers. Overall she's fun and she is there to help u if u do poorly.
She is not a bad professor but she can improve on taking more time to lecture because her lectures are so fast. The notes are somewhat helpful, not as detailed as the questions on your tests and exams though. quizzes, homework, and exit quizzes points help in the end!! READ READ READ! Over all She has a good sense of humor. She makes you work 4 it!
This class has a lot of material and requires substantial study time in/outside of class, but Professor Zung does a great job of teaching and is transparent on her expectations. Anatomy is a tough course, but if you work hard and show up to class, the work will pay off. I highly recommend her class for anyone going into the healthcare field.
Very organized and makes subject relatable. Clearly explains, takes time to answer questions and posts fill-in lectures ahead of time. Beware: lowers your grade if you are absent or late for lecture! Class was super easy if you show up, pay attention, and use book for supplement. Lab is super fun too.
She makes it very difficult. Doesn't give extra credit and if she does they are only worth 2pts. Doesn't curve your grade or drop your lowest test or quiz. Will mark your answers wrong if there are spelling errors. Every exam covers 4 chapters at a time! INSANE. No study guide. She wants you to memorize every chapter for the exam.
Although Zung is a tough grader, she genuinely cares for the success of her students. She wants you to know what youre talking about, not just write answers from a textbook. She also has a strong attitude but softens up during finals week. If youre absent more than twice without a valid excuse, she will kick you out.
She a great professor and very ergetic when it comes to lecture.
Don't get me wrong. She isn't the devil in disguise or anything. But she is really demanding, to a fault. If something gets in the way of lecture, don't think it'll stop her or make her move the test date. It just means YOU need to work twice as hard. Overall, this is a ridiculous class. And I will not recommend.
Really her class is not that hard,I don't know what the complaints are about. She gives quizzes every week yes, but they force you to study for the exams. She tells you literally everything that'll be on the test- they're exactly from the notes. Tons of extra credit is given-on exams, quizzes, and homework. She is hilarious! Wish she taught physio
Great Teacher! Really covers the subject well and in a way you understand. Gives you study guides and literally answers all the questions on the study guide! You have to put in the work but pretty straight forward and is really fun class for me!
She makes you work for your grade but helps along the way. All of the homework and lecture notes are study guides for the exams. She is lecture heavy but tries to make the material fun or to make it easier to get it. 6 exams total. While she doesnt drop an exam she does drop one lab check, homework, and quiz.
This professor is amazing must take, work hard you'll get a good grade, If you don't show up and you slack that's on you. don't listen to the haters professor Zung is the best!!!
I was scared in taking bio the 3rd time, yes I said 3x. I've taken it at different colleges, but this time I hit the jackpot with a teacher that is passionate about the subject and helps you understand the lecture along with her powerpoint. Do the homework, do the pre lab, do the study guides because they will help you pass her test.
this is a good professor. Not sure why the ratings are like this. She genuinely does her best to explains things and hard concepts are easier with her bcs she incorporates relatable things. Always learning cool facts. Lecture notes are fast but worth it to me. I kinda jumped to take her for my anatomy class. She didnt like tardiness tho (8am class)
I took this professor for a summer course and let me say its alot of material to be covered in 5 weeks. It's truly up to you how you study and how you commit to this class. She's a nice professor but if you aren't doing well she wont give you any slack. I ended up dropping her class with a W and decided to take it in Fall. Good Luck!
Professor Zung is an amazing person. She is a tough grader, but also very helpful. She answers every question asked, provides lecture notes and study guides for every chapter taught. Honestly, use both and it won't be hard. It's a lot of information to retain, but she's definitely worth taking.
Absolutely amazing teacher youre missing out if you do not take her! Her lectures are very long but the way she teaches makes the material easy to learn. Her tests are just like the lecture notes that she provided so everything was straightforward. TAKE HER
go to class, follow the syllabus, and use her notes. she's done this a bunch, she has perfected her materials and she's taught the class a bunch. She's good, she's funny and she's human (cut her toe on the door). i really enjoyed her instruction. She made me work for it but not crazy hard and it paid off.
I had her for a summer semester for Biology 3. She gave lots of extra credit for labs (pre-labs) and isn't boring throughout the lecture. NO LAB QUIZZES! I read the chapter and wrote notes prior to class then took additional notes during lecture, ended up with a 95% in the class.
I attended her summer class and at first I thought it was going to be a long and boring 2 hours and 30 minute lecture but it went by quick. Shes a great lecturer and if she gets through everything quick, shell let you out early. Class times depend on you
I took her Biology 3 course in the summer, and a lot was done. She provided lecture notes and study guides for each chapter, and we had quizzes that were based on the lecture/text. Tests were based on both lecture notes and study guides. There was the chance to receive extra credit multiple ways. Wonderful instructor!! Study hard.
One of the best professors I've ever had at Valley. She is a bit tough, but she makes it very clear what exactly she will be testing you on. Memorization is key. She is always available during her office hours. And she truly cares about her students. Also very funny. I received a C, but an A is very possible. I had issues that made me miss an exam
I wish Prof Zung taught more classes! The study guides are good and the tests are fair. No trick questions in the tests. There is multi choice and memorization of body structures in all the practical exams. The homework is fun too and helps for studying.
I was skeptical taking Anatomy with her but I am so glad I did! The class is quiz and exam heavy with 7-8 quizzes and 6 exams. Her notes are very straight forward and easy to follow. If you study the notes and diagrams that she tells you to, along with the models from lab, you should be able to get the A. She gives MANY Ex. Credit opportunities!!
I LOVE professor Zung! She's very knowledgeable and makes class enjoyable. She's definitely passionate and is willing to help you if you ask for help. I wish I could take her for more classes.
you have to study to get a good grade, class is mandatory. but her notes are straight forward, easy and understandable. she makes lecture enjoyable. she keeps pretty up to date with her grades. have to do prelabs once a week, exams are 75 questions and weekly lab quizzes. would recommend!!!!!!!
Shes obviously doing the reviews herself. I got an A in her class but regret taking her. She doesnt know what shes talking about half of the time. No PowerPoints given and LOTS of histology. She would make a lot of errors, I would tell and she still didnt care ( I read the book) No curves, attendance mandatory and unapproachable. Take brockmann
So much memorization. Her notes are very thorough. She doesn't drop your lowest exam score and they progressively get harder. No curve, but she does offer a lot of extra credit on exams. Attendance is mandatory. There are no study guides because you literally need to know EVERYTHING. I did really badly on one exam so I ended up with a B+.
DONT TAKE HER!!! Shes the worst out of the whole college. Find another anatomy prof cuz she aint good at all. No PowerPoints and she only gives out useless hand outs that you can wipe the floor with.
I took prof. Zung's 8AM biology class, her lectures are hilarious and clear. She doesn't cover everything coming in the test, but that's what the textbook is for.
Professor Zung is amazing, she is very organize and have clearly notes. The quizzes and exams is all about in her notes and text book. I really recommend her. She has very good sense of humor and very respectful.
Taking anatomy w/ Prof. Zung was a great experience for me & here's why: she's straight forward in her grading, she gives you a heads up on what you'll be tested on (MC part of exam/practical) & she adds in a solid amount of EC points in her quizzes, exams and HW. You'll need to put in the work because this class requires it.
Shes really beyond bad. Please please take someone else. Just wait rather then taking her. Its NOT worth the while!!
I am currently taking Professor Zung for Bio3 and she is just amazing her lectures are very clear and informative she provides notes for the chapters and study guides for her exams. Would definitely take again and highly recommend.
I took Prof. Zung for both Bio 3 lab and Anatomy. Needless, to say I've enjoyed every aspect of her class. Her lectures are very clear and she makes sure everyone understands before she moves on. She's also really funny, I haven't met a teacher as genuine yet professional like her. JUST MAKE SURE you don't slack off! Study A LOT for those tests!!!
Professor Zung is really good. She has a clear grading criteria. Also she is really organized and provides lecture notes. She lets record her lectures which is really helpful! If you want to pass the class just study lecture notes and study guides but she does offer a lot of extra credit on exams ( flowcharts). Attendance is mandatory.
Professor Zung is very organized with all her lectures. Attendance is very important because its not easy to study for the practical without the models. She makes learning fun. She tries giving examples that students can relate to. She also offers a generous amount of Extra credit in the homeworks, quizzes and sometimes tests.
Professor Zung is the best Anatomy professor at Valley, if you have the chance, please take her! She is good with lectures and is generous with extra credit. Exams get harder throughout the semester but if you keep up with the notes and models, everything will be great :)
Professor Zung did a really good job at explain multiple things with real life scenarios. that made things easier to comprehend. She will not drop an exam but it'll make you study more. She also has funny personal stories that have to do with the lectures.
Professor Zung is really nice professor. I was scared at beginning because I read all the bad comments but the truth is that shes super nice. If you want to pass the class you need to study because the class is hard. Its Anatomy so in my opinion is not that the professor is bad. Shes great and I would definitely take her again.
I took professor Zung for Spring 2020 and she is hands down amazing. Her lectures are straight to the point and so are the zoom meetings. This class got a little difficult when we transitioned online but I managed. I really wish she taught Physio.
Do not take her! you dont learn anything . extremely bad grader, an approachable. very stressful ! you will regret it !!!
This professor doesnt care about each individual students needs for learning. She will only allow you to make an audio recording for her class, which is completely useless for visual learners. Even when you bring it to her attention that you have different learning needs, she wont make concessions. By far the worst educator Ive ever had.
Professor Zung was great! There's A LOT of homework & quizzes, but this was a good thing because it helps with remembering. She is very helpful when you have questions. the exams were pretty scary, but she will give you feedback and will let you know what you need to work on so you can improve.
Professor Zung is a great professor! She made anatomy simple with her video lectures. Dont get me wrong, the class is hard bc of all the memorization but she did a great job at explaining it. She finds little ways to help memorize some things easier. Theres quizzes every week and lab hw every week. She drops your lowest quiz score too.
Great at explaining class material. I have never had a better science teacher. I took her for anatomy and bio lab.
I took Professor Zung during the Spring of 2019. She is a GREAT professor, and I learned so much from her class, but it wasn't easy! She gives interesting lectures punctuated with humor, and is a fair grader. She is also personable and approachable. With Zach as the TA, they were an amazing combo. You will be in good hands but you must study!
Took professor Zung in fall 2020 and she is by far the best teacher I've ever had! She's very organized and thorough, which is extremely helpful with such an overwhelming class! Her outlines and lectures set you up for success for the exams. Anatomy is a tough subject so you MUST put in the time if you want to get an A. Wish she taught physiology!
unless she wrote the positive review this cant be true! one of the worst professor in valley collage ! dont take her at all !
Professor goes in a fast pace, she gives good lectures but goes extra hard for exams, she has you record yourself. Quiz due before every class, two labs a week. Her class would be more easier if she was lenient on the exams.
Guys if youre deciding wether or not this is the bio teacher for you PLEASE make the right choice and avoid her class at all possibilities. She does not teach but gives an overbearing amount of class work. Her exams are heavy and lectures are heavier. She also does not care about her students, I think she could care less if youre learning or not.
Honestly dont take her! Shes not empathetic at all. Took for spring 2021 during quarantine. If this is the comment that makes you not take it DONT!
professor zung is a great professor the course its self is hard and takes a lot of studying, but she is more than happy to help with any questions you have. textbook and lab manual are mandatory. tests are pretty heavy it is half multiple choice and half fill in the blanks. just get ready to have a lot of study days! best of luck
Do not take this professor for Anatomy. I had to take this class for an Intro to Human Anatamy, she made us memorize bones, muscles, tissues, etc. You don't have a word bank for tests so you're just supposed to know it off of a picture, this doesn't include the multiple choice portion of her tests. Take anyone else but her if you want to pass.
I took this class as an 8 weeks course. I don't know why they even have this as an option. Her test is super hard, you have to identify bone's structures and muscles solely on picture provided. You must have really good memorization if you want to pass this class. Super hard grader and a mean teacher.
Professor Zung is one of the best professors at LAVC. She is thorough, very positive, inspirational, entertaining, caring and intelligent. The world needs more professors like her! If you pay attention and put in the effort required of you then you can expect to have a great time in this science class. (Also took her for BIO 5 and got an A.)
Prof. Zung is very smart, funny, and thorough with her teachings. Many of the negative reviews are based on the fact that anatomy in general is a difficult course and have less to do with her teaching abilities.. She has no tolerance for cheating and doesn't accept late work, but she is an awesome professor who wants to see each student do well.
The best professor I took at LAVC, She is very funny and teaches anatomy very well. She also gives a lot of extra credits during exit quizzes and exams. She also is willing to answer questions and wants her students to pass and do well. Her exams are memorizing based but if you take time and study you will pass. overall I highly recommend her.
I never had a professor like her before. She wants students to succeed. She is able to captivate everyone's attention in the room by incorporating humor to her lectures. I never missed day; class was so fun. Ask question guys!Anatomy involves a lot of memorization so I'd recommend studying the outline prior to every quiz & also use the tutoring lab.
She discourage me to not take Anatomy, and to change careers
Anatomy is a hard subject with tons of memorization. Prof. Zung gives extra items in the exams as the extra credit. You have to earn your XC in short. Gives 10-item test every session so you need to study everyday if you want to get an A. But you have plenty of opportunities to improve your grade, just do your part. Learned a lot in this class.
Be prepared to learn everything on your own. Lectures were useless and presentations are not available to you for re-visiting. Considered "intellectual property".
Fall 2024 BIO 6: Honestly don't understand the bad reviews. I've heard she's become nicer? Lectures compose most of class and YOU MUST ATTEND TO GET NOTES. Lab quizzes weekly, with pre-labs & labs are relatively easy. No post labs! 5 exams total, all based on lecture and her canvas quizzes. Just study. One presentation based on scholarly article.
Lecture only consists of note taking. Not able to access lecture slides on canvas. 5 tough exams. Many questions from exam not from lecture notes. Does not tolerate late assignment. Tough grader. Hates when you leave early from lab.Exams were the hardest portion of the class. Group presentation on journal article.
I took Professor Zung during the Fall semester and she was amazing. She is very caring and will definitely help you understand any concept you are struggling on. This class is very lecture heavy and test heavy but that's just Anatomy. Definitely recommend Prof. Zung!
Zung was a great professor. She was funny, fair, and generous with extra credit. She even dropped six assignments at the end. There are definitely quizzes every time you go to class, but they help reinforce the material for the exams. Anatomy is tough, but she teaches it well. Honestly, if you're hating on her, you probably just got weeded out🤷
If you don't do the work or study don't bother taking this class.
This class is not easy, but Professor Zung assigns lots of worksheets, quizzes, and exit quizzes to help with repetition and studying. I recommend taking this class in person for both lectures and lab. There are a lot of information that is needed to know for the exams, so be prepared to study. There are no spelling errors allowed on the practical.
Professor Zung is an approachable, great professor. Prepare for near-daily Canvas quizzes from pre-recorded lectures, which she also reviews in class. Expect worksheets, exit quizzes & 5 non-dropped tests. It's demanding, requiring constant studying for an A. Tons of extra credit available that you have to earn via additional ?'s on tests/quizzes
Nice professor who is approachable. Talk to her after your first exam to make things right. Use tutoring lab for practical. Also, read her PowerPoint well and study hard and you will pass.
She's very kind and funny BUT after her first midterm out of 30 people only 1 person got an A and her questions on exams are very tricky and detailed she already warns that she takes exams hard and her class is hard
Is this class actually hard? In my opinion it is not. There is a lot of studying in this class, and what helped me was time management and active recall. YOU MUST STUDY TO PASS. Professor Zung is cool and all, but she is somewhat unapproachable.
She calls herself "No Fun Zung", but she is actually quite fun and a great teacher. Anatomy is hard and she is strict, but clear about expectations. You need to work for this class, but it's not too bad and I enjoyed it,
Her compassionate personality and lively lectures make the material feel light. Always ready to help. No surprises on tests and quizzes, great teacher and role model.
