When he crosses his arms I want to call in an airstrike. It reminds me of Vietnam
He's not too bad. Clarity is somewhat lacking but overall okay.
A litte hard to understand. Crouching Prof, Sleeping Students
Get out, if you still have the chance. Read the test, or you'll fail. Liu cannot teach!
Another prof who just reads overheads. Very boring, I always doze off in his class.
Unclear notes. They are all over the board. His overheads makes you sleepy. Very good one on one, extremely helpful.
Can be intimidating sometimes but is helpful one on one. His classes can be a bit dry sometimes
first off this guy knows controls but im not sure he can teach it with the same skill. the course may have been killer but at least he was generous with marks

Her heavy accent will deter many students to listen, but she knows what she is talking about. The midterm is ok, but the final exam is dreadful. I did not get the chance to finish.
This is a tough class, regardless of the professor you have. She is definitely approachable. The only downside is the accent and the overall boredom of the class. Definitely passable, just read your book well.
you MUST do work for this class! the book we use is garbage. she tries to be clear, but not so effective. Hard midterm, Very hard assignments, and Extremely hard Final. Good luck....
she cant teach! she could be very rude sometimes! but if u practice your homework and do them few times the midterms are super easy. little tricks but it's manageable
Not a bad but not good either. Teaching sytle=PPT and taking up homework. Tests contain questions similar to homework but diff numbers. Accent takes getting used to. You will do well if you do the work. This course is hard no matter who teaches it and there are only 2. If you've taken the other then you know which will be the right choice.
She has very good personality, but she is not very good at teaching. Term test is hard since she only give us one and half hour.
Usually, the most knowledgeable profs mark hard but its still worth it because you learn a lot. Can't say as much for this prof. Poor communication and extremely difficult tests (53% class avg)!
Honestly, she's a decent lady but the accent is horrible. Classes like this should be taught by Else/Cheryl, who's first language is english given how complex the material is. When you ask quesitons she makes you feel stupid - honestly avoid and just take it in Chang with Amy. AVOID.
Guess when she decides to post our marks to the accting final? On ****ing Christmas Eve. What kind of person does that? She's a complete useless professor who doesn't even give a **** about her students. All of her exams are ****ing hard and her final is ridiculously difficult. In her words, "30% of the class will fail." You are warned
As long as you study the wiley homework and read the theory in the textbook both midterms are easy. The final will bring your mark down if you are not good at time management but it is very straightforward. She is also very strict, which is ok because this course is no joke when it comes to memorization and concepts.
She is an amazing prof. When I ask her to clarify the information she does so by giving another example.Just study hard and practice the homework and wiley and you will be fine bc the mid&final are the same as the homework and wiley questions.Study materials before and after class and constantly practice the problems, can't stress that enough.
Amazing Prof. Teaches well, very knowledgable and teaches a deep course in a very interesting way.
Her pre-lectures quizzes are unnecessarily LONG and difficult and she didn't even review with us in class. It's like equivalent to the homework assignments.. EXPECT A LOT OF TIME STUDYING FOR THIS COURSE and doing homework assignments..
For such a tough course, she does a terrible job at teaching. Her sorry excuse of a lecture is pathetic and I have relied on self-teaching to carry on in this course. Not to mention, her voice is incredibly hard to listen to for 3 hours. She also has quite the temper. Her lecture = 3 hours of reading slides + poorly taught textbook questions.
course itself is very tough and the book does a poor job going into details and examples that you cud refer to while solving problems for assignments, and exams. but she is a horrible teacher. she is only focused on sticking by her course schedule and skips the details of materials that is very important for the midterm. she is not helpful at all.
This course is hard itself and she is fairly good at teaching it. I admit that she is a hard marker but a lot of the accounting professors are. She is very willing to help you in her office hours. And if you give her respect, she will too.
Decent professor. But for the course tough like this, especially because the textbook is very poor, decent doesn't cut it. Online assignments were extremely helpful practice though. Also, when solving problems she explains vaguely from the instructor's manual. She refuses to show the work to the class. Chapters are long and she misses details.
probably one of the worst profs ive ever had the chance to be taught by..not only she extremely rude, her lectures are pointless..i learned more from reading my textbook then i did from her. the course is definatly difficult but she definatly does not help with any understanding of the material. Definitely recommend you take this with a diff prof
Those that complain are the ones that did poorly in the course and are looking for someone to blame. Make a commitment to come to class each week, GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS, and practise, practise, practise. You'll mark will be based on your effort it's that simple
A good teacher who explains the material well. She cares about her students and does everything to help you succeed. She may seem "cold" due to the fact that English is not her first language. However, she is a nice person.I agree with the previous posters who stated that you have to do the work and practice for this challenging course to do well.
I'll be completely honest, by the end of the course, I was completely taken aback by her caring attitude and will for her students to succeed. Although she does have some drawbacks, I would say that she is an amazing prof. Also be willing to take her again
She is a pretty good prof! She cares about her students and tries her best to help them in her office hours. Although the exam and cases were hard, she is still very fair in terms of marking. Make sure you attend every single lecture and listen in class and you will do decent.
confusing and hard to understand, textbook will be ur bestfriend in this course, don't expect much in lectures! theres too much to know in this course, they needa cut down the material, she needs to slow down and theres just too much questions for prelecture quizzes and hwk!!
terrible prof, don't get a single word she says during lectures, might as well just self teach! i would avoid but had no choice since shes the only prof for this course and its mandatory! ughh seeing her again for AFA 400, wats life? agree with below, too much work for this course!
She is the worst prof i've ever had. You cant understand a thing she says and she is not good at explaining the material at all. She should just stick to research and leave the teaching to other profs. She makes her students feel dumb in class, and she picks on students who she knows are doing bad and puts them on the spot. AVOID HER!
Despite the fact that I failed the course, I think she is a great person. She always helped me during the office hours. However, she needs to be more clear sometimes. Overall, great teacher. Just work for the course and make sure you study all the chapters and not just the last few for the exam (my mistake) & you will do good. Very nice prof :)
I really didn't find her class useful at all. She's hard to understand and doesn't explain the course material well. Only class where i went to all the lectures and still did not know what to expect for the tests and cases.
worst class ever
Overall, I've come to realize that she is a good professor! She tries her best to help students. She will lend extra office hours to help you if you have any questions regarding the material. However, she is a very strict teacher and will make you work for it. But if you understand the concepts, you will do fine.
I will not take any course with this prof ever again. She is very hard to understanding, and does not explain the material clearly. Never post anything online, you have to attend class to get her note. And she like to pick on people, very stressful class.
Typical professor - straight forward and knowledgeable. Accent, as always, makes class a little difficult sometimes. Do not expect an inspirational speech ever, or even a "you can do it" attitude before finals. However, read the textbook, attend (most) lectures, and study the material, you'll be fine. Straight forward required course.
Always prepared well in advance of class, can be funny in a sarcastic way and truly cares about her students' success. Can be crude at times but thats only her style of communicating. Great person and a terric prof.
Accent heavier than peter griffin. Lectures on information we're assumed to already know going into class, nothing new to learn.
I can't follow along in her class at all. A part of it is her accent, I don't blame her for that but also because she's all over the place, and doesn't take the time to fully go over the material. She will just go through it like you already know everything. If you're stuck with her, make sure you leave A LOT of time to practice on your own time.
AFA 300 is a tough course in general, she's not the best lecturer, but she curves marks and is extremely helpful during her office hours. If you're struggling, like I was, definitely visit her as she does explain concepts very well as long as you know what you don't understand.
She curves marks which is very beneficial to most students. She generally seems to care about her students and her case studies were most of the time easier than other profs. She encourages her students to come to her office hours since AFA 300 is a hard course but some students don't show up to class or her office and that's their fault
Her own set of notes, it;s gold!!!!! Case studies are easier than the other prof. Do the in-class questions beforehand or at least read it. She wont wait, but there'are always so many questions within 3 hrs otherwise we cant finish them all. Midterm questions were picked by guoping and they are basically like the ones from the textbook
This course, in general, was hard and there were a lot of topics to cover during class. I believe this prof did her best to teach all of it but there was just too much content. Expect a good amount of self learning and practice questions due to this. She is very helpful during her office hours though, so that is always a good option too.
Despite what the reviews say, I actually enjoyed being in her class. She gives good notes and goes over important questions similar to midterm and exam ones. She bell curves to make the grading fair if people don't do well. She is sarcastic at times but overall good prof.
Very nice prof. She has her own notes that she does not post so attend class to take notes. Sometimes hard to understand but she is very caring. Build a good relationship with her now because she also teaches afa400 so you will have her for a full year :). Midterm was simple if you understand the content. Case tests are a little more challenging
Need to attend classes. Doesn't post notes so you have to take them yourself. Her exam questions are fairly simple, relating to the hw she gives out so you should be set. Cases can be a little challenging but study the case she assigned before class and you should be good. Go to her office hours and get help if you need. This is a heavy course . GL
I had her for AFA 300 and 400 and she is amazing. She provides students with notes to facilitate studying. The cases and the midterm/exam are all fair, if you study. I really enjoyed being in her class and highly recommend her. Her ratings online don't do her justice. She is one of the most caring profs, she wants her students to do well.
Amazing prof! She had great class notes. She is passionate about her course!
Its not the prof that is hard, but the course itself. She is a pretty good prof and goes through the material that you have to know. The cases and exams are all fair as everything has been taught and the homework is great for learning and practice, the questions are very similar to the ones on the exam!
She deserves a better rating. She wants her students to do well and she explains concepts clearly (must go to class). Her cases are hard but she does many practice questions in class and these will help you on the exams (theyre v similar). Not everyone likes her type of teaching but she is always willing to clarify things both in and out of class!
she's not a hard grader, but the course is difficult. she does a good job explaining concepts and makes it clear which concepts you'll need to know for the midterm and final. cases are tricky so practice those and get her to review your practice work. good set of in class notes.
Great professor, a little bit strict but adorable somehow. Be prepared before you ask her any question, she might be a little upset when you ask her something she mentioned in class already. Had her for 2 accounting classes, AFA300 and AFA400. You will pass as long as you attend the lecture and read the book.
The prof isn't hard, its just the course itself that is challenging. Make sure you DO the homework it's such a great way to practice and learn the material, plus the exam questions are usually similar. The case tests aren't hard, know the concepts and make sure to be DETAILED, or else you'll lose marks. She could be nicer during her office hours
I don't know how she has such a high rating because she is not a good professor (very rude & doesn't care about her students). She is probably considered a good prof because the rest of the faculty is not that great. You basically have to read the book and teach the entire course to yourself and also, the midterm and the final is very difficult.
Get ready to each yourself because you're not going to understand a word she's seeing. She will straight up tell the class they won't pass.
Adjusts case grades to make your grade better - she cares about her students. 300/400 are hard but its about how much you practice. her lectures and in class notes tell you exactly what you need to know, its up to you to stay caught up with weekly practice questions on your own. shes very supportive and helpful - deserves a better rating
I had Guoping for both 300 and 400. The course is content heavy and not easy to understand. She makes good lecture notes, however her lectures are so easy to zone out of. READ THE TEXTBOOK AND PRACTICE ALL THE TEXTBOOK QUESTIONS several times before all tests. Cases are difficult and points get taken off for every little detail. Study hard!
Absolute brutal professor. Doesn't prepare students whatsoever for the case portion of the midterm/exam unlike the other profs in this course. Basically reads off the slides and is not a very friendly person to be honest. Highly recommend avoiding this professor.
I don't know why she has such a high rating. Not friendly, extremely condescending and rude. Just avoid her at all cost, or I can guarantee you will regret.
Terrible prof. Her exams not only a lot harder than her lectures, we got questions that was not even discussed in class. cases are super long and difficult. one of the toughest professor in terms of grading. I agree with others that she has no manners, very rude person
Rude personality but her exams are reasonable.
Worst accounting professor I've had in my entire life, doesn't teach AT ALL literally show up to class to copy down pieces of the textbook while not being able to understand anything being said in the 'lecture'. Don't know why she is one of only two profs at Ryerson teaching such a crucial course to the accounting undergrad... AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Incredibly rude, majority of her students suffered throughout the semester. Just see these comments below you will find out. Worst prof I ever had, avoid her AT ANY COST for your own good.
Worst prof I ever had. These comments are 100% accurate.
Best online class I have taken!!
Absolutely trash of a professor. I do above average/pretty decent in every single accounting course and she thought she wouldnt be so bad. SO BAD. like please me aware and avoid her at all costs. i cannot describe how bad of a prof she is. And, because it is online, she gives no time to even read your question and understand whats going on. AVOID
She screams at her students while we are in the lectures. Extremely rude. If you can get past her personality, her marking is fair enough and the in-class condensed notes are helpful.
She's a horrible prof. Avoid at all costs. Do not take any AFA course with her. She posts no content and her lectures are a waste of time. She screen shares a word document and reads off that expecting you to learn. I think she does not know how to use PowerPoint. If you have the option, pick another prof.
She does not provide enough resources to learn the content properly. I have had 3 classes with her, and every time I end up teaching myself the course. Lectures are not helpful at all since we do a couple of textbook exercises and just summarize the textbook chapter we had to read before class. Never gives enough time to finish midterms and exams.
I took her for AFA300 and AFA619. She is a horrible prof and does not post any resources. Her lectures consists of her reading over a word document slide. No way to learn to account. Avoid at all costs!!! This professor should only be picked if she is the only one teaching the course. I would even consider taking the course another semester.
You will get a bad mark with her or you will not learn the course content properly with her. Has a heavy accent and goes really fast so you can't understand what she is saying. Would not recommend at all - AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
She is so nice. I really find managerial accounting hard and she still manages to make it accessible and will repeat a concept until everyone understands. she incorporates videos of important concepts and gives cues as to what will be on the exam. She answers your email within a day and is just an overall very sweet and caring prof.
I don't know why this prof has such bad reviews, she's a sweetheart and honestly tries her best to help everyone do well. The content is not bad for managerial accounting, but I've found that for most of the accounting courses, doing the in class questions and the homework is really all you need to pass this class.
Shes the sweetest. Honestly no clue why she even has one bad review. God knows accounting profs can be mean but shes anything but. Responds her email within the day, goes over concepts with lots of care, doesnt ask trick questions in exams and her explanations are actually clear. So underrated and nice and Im taking her again in the winter
The material is easy but the professor used to give me the biggest headaches in class. I stopped showing up to class at some point and still got a A+. She had the thickest accent and just spoke off the slides. She was a nice lady but I had no clue what she was saying most of the time. Her voice just started to blur.
guoping is honestly a very kind lady but she is not that great of a prof. she would play videos in class covering the solutions to the in class problems and that would be most of the class. content up to the midterm is easy but the course gets a bit challenging after midterm. the final was honestly brutal but she gave everyone a boost at least
In my view, Professor Liu truly makes the effort for students to understand AFA200 by going through her lectures in detail, going over practice questions in class, checking in with the class for questions/clarification, and offering extra resources. She has a serious tone, but honestly she has such auntie humour. I enjoyed attending her lectures.
Professor is extremely rude. Basically got yelled at by her for a simple misunderstanding. Extremely rude. However her exams are easy, self taught myself the course from home and found the exam extremely manageable. I can't comment on how she teaches.
Her lectures were good as she went into detail into the class problems and taught the concepts well. The midterm was a bit tricky but overall fair. The final was unexpectedly much more difficult than the midterm and dropped my grade quite a bit as it is weighted 50%
