"Supposedly" attendance is mandatory in both lecture and recitation, but I think that's a lie honestly. And I have my reasons for supporting this. I reluctantly took this class because of my pathway, thinking it would be horrible--now, I'm wishing there were more weeks left in the semester. Amazing lectures, very good at getting the point across. Grades are based on 4 quizzes, which are easy A's if you study for them.

My main gripe is with his exams. They are unclear and he makes no attempt to clarify. Students who wrote the same answer got different grades. For some people a question was worth 5, for another it was worth 1. It's a complete luck of the draw. I'm a 4.0 student who has aced graduate courses and I am getting screwed by this professor. This class is a breeze if you show up and try. Slides have no writing on them and are not posted, so skipping one class will effect your grade. Write down everything that he says, you never know what will pop up in the quizzes. Go to your TA for help and guidance. Gives some cool lectures and is an overall nice guy.

His tests make no sense and he'll tell you to study the relationships between Greek gods then throw pictures of vases at you on the quiz and tell you to figure out who is who in the picture. I took this class as a gen ed and seriously regret it. The class itself doesn't go over hard topics, but he packs a lot of information into the course and the quizzes are only on pictures. If you do not show up to class or have both textbooks, do not expect to pass. The 4 quizzes make up your entire grade, however, one may be dropped. Do not take.

This is class is so easy, I always just cram study 2 hours before a quiz and I got high nineties on my quizzes. Attendance is mandatory as everything will be taught in class, don't bother reading for AHI 105 as he goes through everything in class. As long as you attend all lecture, pay attention, and study a bit before a quiz you'll do fine.

avoid this class if possible. change your pathway if you can because this class is a gpa killer. he gives only four tests and thats all you get graded on. each test is only around 12 questions. you don't get a copy of the test during the test. he projects the questions one at a time and you go at such a slow pace. don't take this class.

As long as you go to his lectures and study the pictures that he lists in his notes, you will be fine. I study for about an hour or two right before a quiz and my grades have been great. He does not give out homework; grades are based on a series of quizzes. You do not really have to read the textbooks as long as you listen to his lectures.

This professor is terrible at communication through email, he simply does not reply so don't expect him too. In addition, his syllabus is disorganized and sometimes does not convey ideas clearly. On UB learns he does not upload the readings as they are stated in the syllabus so you are clueless about what to read for class. I do not recommend.

So far, this was the worst class I have taken at UB. Your grade is based off 4 quizzes. The contents of the quiz are vague, and he expects you to memorize around 30 images, when only 10 would end up on the quiz. You have to know every detail of the image to receive full credit. Unless you have prior knowledge of Greek mythology, avoid this class

Professor Watrous is old fashioned in his lecture techniques. Make sure you rent/purchase the 2 textbooks because you NEED them for his tests. Only grades by 4-5 tests over the semester, so make sure you study or you won't pass. Most of the material on the tests are knowing symbols or gods within famous works of art. Not too difficult if you study

Lectures are easy to follow, but quizzes are based around identifying scenes and characters from works of art, which can be difficult. Dr. Livingston is an interesting character that has bouts of lucidity in which he makes sense, but those are few and far between.
