Difficult personality - will help your writing and analytical skills immensely.
The only way to pass her class is to share the opinion of the insyructor!
Her methods are a bit unorthodox,but once you finally get it , can be helpful.
Very picky. One must share her opinion in order to do well on most assignments.
Not at all consistent in grading. DO NOT TAKE HER! she did not accept 9 of 12 final papers because the ROUGH DRAFTS were incomplete, some by 2 lines of 4 pages! Never did this before, never told us she was going to until the day they were due.
Very hard to pass her class.
she is not clear about anything. wanted a 5 page paper concerning a literary theory involving 3 texts we had read. when i said my paper was 8 pages, she told me to make it 5. had to rework my thesis entirely. i said no way and dropped.

DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!! It is impossible to pass her class. She is so picky. There were 30 students in her class n only 5 passed. Do urself a favor and take another teacher.

This was one of the worst english classes that I have taken! She has no clear method of teaching and her grading scale/structure is horrible! If you can stay away from anything she teaches!!!!

English is my best subject and i BARELY just BARELY pulled a B- out of this class. And that was after continuous arguing with her. I do not recommend her. Do not take her even if she is the only english teacher left to take-- i would even wait til next semester and try and get a different teacher.

don't take this class!!! she's incredibly hard and you won't pass if you don't conform to her way of teaching. even if you are good at english you won't think so while taking her class. don't waste your money, take someone better.
this was the worst english class i had ever taken... she basically wants u to learn how to write "her" way ( which is 100% different then what weve learned through school) and be freakin english majors by the end of the semester, do not take this teacher... she is terrible.. if u like english goin in to it, you will hate it after wards

Ms. Kiszely is zealous about the english language and loves teaching students. She is a little brisk. She wants the students to learn the art of expositional writing and goes to any lengths to see that light go on in your eyes. But it is really hard to learn. She is a hard grader, but has a curve, so you can still do well.

She is no doubt a hard teacher. She forced me to judge my writing and I benefited. Turn in summaries and don't underestimate her.

I am absolutely disgusted with this particular teacher, and more so with that fact that she is still employed at Fullerton College. Her class is not conducted at a college level. Ms. Kiszley is the most ridiculous English teacher i have ever taken. I am an Engligh major and throughout my life ive never gotten worse than a b and in her class i got an F. She doesnt know how to teach anything and her topics and dull and boring. Save yourself the time and DO NOT take her class. 35 kids go in and only 5 finish with a C if lucky.
our class had too little seats in the begining, but we had about 2/3 drop and now its such a small class, try not to take it, i stuck with it but she always gave low scores on papers, no matter how you improved from the time before, and if you ask her a question shell tell you to ask your peers instead. AVOID!!!
I don't think anthing else has to be said about this teacher. Hardest teacher ever. I've always gotten A's in English until I got to this class. Class started with 30 and ends with 10 of which only 5 pass. Please spare youreself and don't take this teacher.
She is a truly great professor. Her class is not easy at first, but once you get the hang of writing papers, it gets easier. The writing skills gained are worth the effort. After taking her class, I could write a paper for any class and do well, even at UCLA. Her class is not for you if you are lazy, but the tools she gives you will serve you
Not overly difficult, and unlike some teachers I've had she wasn't overly strict about formatting. I liked that we focused on the essays all the time with little irrelevant work. Discussing and writing about controversial topics in this class was enjoyable.
It was a hard class, but very much worth the effort. You will become a better writer! She is a professor that EVERY English major should have to take. You will have to work, but you will be more successful student when you transfer to an university.
She is the type of teacher that will turn an A student into a C student.... do not take her I had straight A's before her class and it ruined my GPA but on the light side you will never have another teacher quite like her and every class after will be easy I took English 103 and got an A so maybe it says something. Work hard and u might survive.

This prof was so painful that she literally brought me to tears on many occasions! If ur in her class now, drop, and if your thinking about taking her, don't. Kiszely is a prof who enjoys watching her students fail and drop her class. If you don't believe me, read the other post here, and even consult the full coll faculty who will warn against her
The hardest class I have ever taken in my life, if you want to pass the class do not take her. She will def make an A student turn into a C student.
prof Kiszley is hard only because she prepares students who really want to transfer. the book is used ALL of the time and you better focus and write your essays months before the due date. she KNOWS if someone procrastinates and will grade papers accordingly.
This professor does not follow the syllabus so if you are absent for one day you may miss homework assignments. She doesn't include a clearer rubric for grading. She plays on favorites. She has done the same lecture over and over again about finding the thesis. She treats her students like children. She moves deadlines for major assignments earlier
I think we can all agree that Kiszely is a force to be reckoned with. Worst Eng Prof i've ever had. I'm an A student and she gave me a D for my paper being 6 pages instead of 5! She's crazy and wants her students to fail! Same boring lectures on finding a "Main Claim" aka thesis, and I felt like I was in a horrible nightmare the whole time. BAD!!!
Whatever you do, do NOT take Kiszely! She's like the Engl prof that people have nightmares about. She turns A students like myself into D students who end up having to drop. I took her a year ago and still remember the pain she put our class through. Crazy formatting, meticulous stipulations, and rude and biased personality. Too many awful memories
Kiszely is the WORST teacher I have EVER had! She drops people without telling them, she's annoying, SHE'S HEART-LESS, I will be getting a C in this class and that is fine by me. I honestly do not know how I pulled it off. Only 9 out of 30+ are still in the class, and I bet a few will not pass... I am done. DONE! I stopped caring weeks ago. BEWARE!
I'm not one to complain about teachers because I understand some teachers are difficult, BUT she is the worst teacher I've ever had. There have been times this year when students go into her office to check their 5 page paper and they will leave with one paragraph because the other stuff was streamlined by her. Dont take her.
Kiszely's methods of teaching is mainly to repeat and repeat, but some of her techniques to writing essays such as 20 questions, main claims, and streamlining are really helpful and no matter what your grade is at the end of the semester, your writing skills will definitely improve. But sometimes her grading can be very unfair.
HORRIBLE TEACHER!!!! :( if you're thinking of taking this class I must warn you that you're in for a NIGHTMARE!! students come into her office for help but walk out more confused than ever. Definitely a Professor who expects the best from you.If you want to cruise and not learn do not take her.If you want a solid foundation, her class is a MUST. STAY AWAY! I had Kiszely 2 years ago and was amazed at how much she enjoyed watching her students suffer. English is my major, and in her class I found myself always receiving low scores. Drop her class now before it's too late. Crazy standards that no one can meet. I now attend USC and still have yet to encounter a prof as harsh as Kiszely.
I've only been in her class for five weeks and all I can say is this woman is crazy. I love English and I love writing but she almost makes me hate it. I do not appreciate her rude teaching style, my advice is just do not take this class.
Just do this work and you will be fine. She is always at her office during office hours for any students that needs special attention. Remember that this is college, NOT high school.

heres the deal with this teacher. i failed her class she is not easy at all. BUT she made me a way better writer and for that i guess im thankful. The reason she is so hard is her grading- she expects primo quality work. dont expect to glide by.
This isn't high school! This is college so start taking school seriously! Classes are limited due to the budget cuts so be prepared! Great class! Great professor! Visit her at her office for help! Good Luck!
Honestly, the class itself isn't hard, she doesn't assign too many essays or anything, she's just insanely picky about what she wants and it's enough to make someone go mad. I've gotten frequently frustrated in her class because she grades on the weirdest scale ever. Her prompts are insanely confusing. Don't take her.
Overall a good teacher. She can be a little irksome at times and has a habit of repeating entire lectures on the necessity of the revision stage of the essay writing process, but if you struggle with writing then this is the class to take. She's helpful and knowledgable a wide array of subjects. Discussion style classes aren't for everyone though
People often whine and complain about her teaching methods, but by the end of the day she's a damn good teacher. While she often goes on tangents and repeats herself, the message she tries to get across to you always ends up reaching your brain.
Dr. K told us from the beginning that she is a hard grader and that is true. This class is not for honors students who want to maintain their 4.0 GPA, but we did improve our critical thinking skills. Ms. K was always nice, always professional, and never ridiculed anyone. We maintained our original class size. Good prof, but very hard grader.

Took this class over summer. It is really hard so if you are not a naturally good writer, you should probably take an easier teacher. An A is possible for the brightest, but you have to work your butt off. Kiszely treats students a little bit like high schoolers, she definitely has a difficult personality. Avoid her if possible.
At first I could not stand her and her stupid recursive scribbles on the board. Somewhere along the way I found that I had learned more than I had given her credit for. Shes persistent. And if you follow her instructions carefully you should pass. I'd consider taking her again.

I took this Summer10. I thought I was crazy for thinking she was a horrible teacher who was ridiculously picky and wanted you to write what she thought, not what you thought, but my current English 104 teacher even said you shouldn't take her and she's awesome. Kiszely is too hard and picky and my best essay was given an F and my worst was an A!!!

Never thought I could be so frustrated in 1 class. Never used this website before, and after her I always will. Her rubric leaves everything up to her interpretation, and that's never to your favor. She told everyone in our class they are probably won't pass. That says a lot about your teaching. Save yourself the frustration; take another teacher.

One of the easiest english professors at Fullerton College! This class was great! I learned a lot from Dr. Kiszely in just 16 weeks.
Professor Kiszely was the best that I had at Fullerton College. She actually cares about improving the writing skills of her students. I'm at UC Davis this fall and if it were not for her class I would feel very behind as a transfer. She does an incredible job at setting her students up for success in the realm of higher education!
Okay, here's the deal on Kiszely: she's really not as bad as people make her out to be. Is her class hard? Heck yes. Is she always crystal clear? No. But the thing that sets her apart is how much she cares about her students. I was at her office so much and each time she was so thoughtful in her advice to me. You need to put in the time/effort.
All my high school English teachers were blown away by my creative language and gave me A's without actually looking at what makes an essay successful; support, evidence, research, organization, etc. This is the first teacher who actually helped me to grow as a writer. You will work in her class, hard, but you will also learn.
