Nobile is one of the most easy-going professors I have had! Her lectures are to the point and she teaches exactly what will appear on her exams. If you attend all lectures and apply the knowledge in discussion every week, it is impossible not to get at least a B in the class. She is great one-on-one as well. Highly recommend!
Lectures were too the point & there were often review days before exams, which were pretty easy as long as you studied. Discussions were not helpful at all. Overall went at a good pace for the class. Very nice teacher, cheesy jokes.
Dr. Nobile is amazing. Her lectures are very thorough-- I think I opened the book twice just to review for the final. Got an A in the class and would definitely recommend her. Make sure you go to class and apply what you've learned in discussion.
Nobile was the nicest and most helpful professor I've had so far at Marquette. This course is very difficult, but she made it possible to get a good grade. Donaldson wrote all of our exams, but Nobile's class got higher averages on every single exam! She is always there if you need help and I would highly recommend taking her for Organic Chem!
She's really helpful one on one but she didn't write her own tests to a lot of times the content or format didn't exactly match up. She's really chill and does the best she can given the fact that she's teaching Ochem. She really understands that most of us aren't there because we want to take it so she tries to make class as enjoyable as possible.
Amazing, one of my favorite if not favorite professor. She is really nice, generally wants you to succeed, and she takes time for clarity and explains things in an easy to understand way. Extra help in her office is really helpful. Attendance is not taken so isn't technically mandatory, but it really pays to show up.
Amazingly helpful and clear. Highly recommend. I'm just disappointed she doesn't teach Organic Chemistry so I could take her again next semester.
Dr. Nobile did a good job with teaching a very large gen chem class, about as good as you can do teaching a lecture of 200+ students. At the end of the day though, it's up to you if you learn the material. Tests and homework are pretty fair, not too easy but not terrible.
I highly recommend taking Dr. Nobile for Gen Chem 1/2. She explains things well in class and if you need more help, she will work with you outside of class. Her exams are fair. The lab material actually lines up with the lectures. She does review for each chapter so even if you miss a class or 2, you can get the basics. All in all, she is great!
Dr. Nobile is a very good teacher. She's very clear when explaining things and very helpful outside of class. Expect a lot of emails from her haha. She lets you drop your worst test which is nice; however, she doesn't give practice exams which kind of sucks. That's where I prefer Dr. Reid. Overall pretty good.
Dr. Nobile is by far the best professor i have ever taken! She is passionate about chemistry, but more so about her students. She wants everyone to succeed and she cares for you as an individual. I wish she was teaching OChem.
I loved Nobile! She is easily one of the best teachers I've had at Marquette. She takes a lot of time to explain confusing topics and has very helpful office hours. Definitely take her if possible!
She is one of the nicest professors I've had. She really wants you to do well and is willing to give additional help if needed. She does everything she can to help prepare you for the tests. Her office hours are very helpful!
I had her for Chem lecture in class of about 170+ students. Never got to know her personally, but she's a good teacher. She does a good job explaining the material, and there's not much more I could ask for in such a large lecture
I really enjoyed having Dr. Nobile as my chemistry 1001 teacher. She truly cares about each individual student. She even emails them personally if they did well on her test. Feel free to go to her office hours whenever you need help. You do not need to buy the textbook for this class because she covers everything in her powerpoint slides.
Awesome professor! I can't wait to take her for chem1002. It's chemistry so it's obviously not an easy class but her lectures are pretty easy to understand and she gives you all the information you need for the exams. I never even opened my textbook. She's also just a cool person so that's always a plus!
Nobile's tests are very straightforward and easy. She gives you a lot of time to complete homework (all unit homework is due online the night before the test). An easy A if you study, pay attention in lecture, and put in some effort. She's very nice, caring, and tries to make chemistry as fun as she can.
Dr. Nobile is very nice to her student's and she is an amazing teacher. Her office hours are very helpful, and she wants to help her students as much as possible. She loves Ronaldo, so if he does good in a game, expect a reward for the class. Tests are a little tough, but just look through her powerpoint slides and you will do great.
As someone who really struggled with AP chem in high school, I was very nervous for this course, however, Dr. Nobile is an incredible professor, and made the content easy to understand. Her tests are very fair. If you attend lectures, get help when you need it, and go to discussion, you will do well. 10/10 recommend taking Nobile's chem!
Such a good professor, understands that it is a gen ed and wants you to succeed.
Difficult class if you have never taken AP chem before. I would definitely go in during her office hours even though she does not seem very approachable unless you are an athlete. This is not a class that you can skip lecture. Print out the slides and try to learn material before lecture.
Dr. Nobile is an excellent professor to have for one of your first classes at Marquette. Her office hours are amazing and she is willing to stay even longer than what she is supposed to. I highly recommend!
Definitely the most dedicated and nicest chemistry professor at Marquette. On top of that, her tests are fair and she is a very good teacher! Would take over any other chemistry professor at Marquette!!
I chose to wake up at 8am just to have Dr. Nobile again for Chem 1002. Need I say more?
Dr. Nobile was a great Chem professor! I 100% believe she is the best gen chem professor you can take as a freshman, and really helps you get used to college-level chemistry. Eventually she lets go, but that is more in Gen chem 2. Highly suggest taking her.
Dr. Nobile is FANTASTIC! Take her for gen chem at all costs (and o-chem if they let her teach it; fingers crossed!!!) She has a great personality, explains concepts well, provides interesting real-life examples of chemistry applications, and has straightforward and reasonable expectations. Best chemistry professor!!!!
Prof. Nobile is a very caring professor, always available to meet with students. She gives out old exams so you can see the set up, and is good at communicating with students. MUST PUT WORK IN (this subject doesn't always come easy!). Work through hidden slides, review power points, and discussion packets and you're golden for tests
Really good professor. Would recommend out of all the chem 1002 professors that are usually options. Pretty straight forward and if you show up and put a reasonable amount of time in you will be able to get an A ( this was even without a curve) She didn't curve the class when I took it so that was harder, Lectures were very helpful. TAKE HER!
She's great. Her reviews are terrible.
TAKE NOBILE FOR CHEMISTRY. Coming from someone who is awful at chem, she really does an amazing job of explaining the material to you, making it less intimidating, going through practice problems, and providing the resources to do well outside of class. Her objectives are very clear and if you put in the work in her class, it is absolutely doable.
Dr. Nobile is one of my favorite teachers. She is a fair grader and helps you tremendously with any questions you have. For online homework she gives you a non-graded version that you can complete beforehand which is very similar to the graded version. She provides MANY resources I love this professor and I would take her all four years if I could.
Pay attention, go to office hours, do practice problems/practice exams & pass the test. No curves!!!!!
Honestly an amazing professor. She is incredibly willing to help students and wants students to succeed in her class. She makes chemistry very doable. I would highly recommend taking her.
I love Dr. Nobile. Her exams are fair, and she gives you the resources you need to do well. TAKE HER!!!! And don't be afraid to ask for help and go to office hours! She was always willing to help and she made herself available to her students. Her lectures are very clear, so come to class! I'm really hoping to take her next semester, even at 8 AM.
Dr. Nobile is a great professor and really wants students to succeed. She is very knowledgeable and makes herself very accessible outside of class. It can be tough for tests but she is very straightforward about what you need to know. As long as you spend enough time studying you should be fine!
Chemistry has never been any easier with Nobile. Classes are lecture heavy, but if you go to class and listen to what she is teaching and follow along with the practice problems, you should be fine for the exams. There is no reason you should do bad in this class if you put in the effort. She is really nice and wants her students to do well.
If you've taken AP Chem, this class will be a breeze (first semester). Dr. Nobile is very clear on what you need to know and what will be on the test. Printing out the lectures ahead of time is a great way to pay attention during her lectures!
Best teacher I have had at MU so far. She genuinely loves her students and makes sure they understand the material. She is the first teacher I have ever had that cares this much about her students doing well. I planned my entire second semester schedule so I could get her again for 1002.
Nobile really knows how to teach. Concepts come quick to most students and she's fair to everyone. Always gives great help outside of class and is a favorite at MU. Would for sure recommend
Dr. Nobile is by far my favorite teacher and makes chemistry enjoyable. She is spunky and can always make students laugh. I definitely recommend going to her office hours because she truly cares about her students and wants them to succeed. If you can take her you definitely should, I wish I could have her for all my science classes!
Dr. Nobile is honestly one of the sweetest professors you will meet. She truly cares about her students and wants them to do well. She is always willing to answer any questions you have and makes the material very straightforward. Definitely take her if you have the option to!
Hard class, she's understanding. Knew everyone's names too. Very boring lectures, so bring some coffee... Hard test's, but if you study, you should be fine. Lab portion of this class is good and WILL boost your grade if you put the effort into lab.
Chem 1002 is harder than 1001, but it is still doable, especially with Nobile. She makes it very clear what is going to be on every test, teaches all the material thoroughly, and is very helpful during office hours. There are also tons of tutoring sessions open for this course to help if you are feeling lost.
She is super straightforward and will NOT try to trick you on exams or in class. Her lectures are SUPER thorough and you don't need the textbook (unless you want it). You can email her about anything and she's very fair and will hear you out. Just practice, do your work, and you'll be fine.
When she is explaining things, she makes it super easy to understand and is always willing to answer questions. She really cares about her student's success!
I would HIGHLY recommend taking Dr. Nobile! You definitely need to put the work in (attendance, notes, do your homework, and labs) but her tests are extremely fair, her lectures are very helpful, and her office hours are great! The class is very straightforward and you can get a good grade if you put the effort in.
Probably the best teacher I have ever had for a science class. The exams are a really important part of your grade, but labs and hw make up a good portion. If you get a tutor there is no need to go to Discussion, because you learn more in tutoring than in discussion, other than getting the 1% attendance grade.
Dr. Nobile is amazing and if you do your part, she gives you all the things you need to be successful in her class. She is accessible outside of class for additional help, the only thing is that when we are reviewing practice examples she goes really fast so be ready to write and look over lecture notes out of class.
Dr. Nobile was one of the best professors (maybe even the best) to have for Chemistry. When she noticed that I was struggling in her class at one point, she was so kind to check on me to see if everything is okay and if there was a reason for why I was struggling in her class. She provides very generous office hours.
She was my absolute favorite professor this semester! I would absolutely recommend taking Dr. Nobile if you get the chance! She sends out individualized emails to her students even though her lectures are 200+ people. She is a simply wonderful person :)
It's readily apparent that Dr. Nobile cares about each of her students. Expect personal emails from her congratulating you on a good test score. Chemistry is hard, and she knows that but does her best to make it as easy as possible. I highly recommend taking her
Nobile is by far the best professor I have had at Marquette so far. She is incredible. Such a sincerely kind and compassionate person, she will work with you wherever you are at. I started this class with a D- and have now gotten over 100% on the last 2 exams because she worked so hard with me individually during office hours. Chemistry GODDESS.
She is an amazing professor in the chemistry department! This is the best I've ever done in Chemistry. Her explanations are amazing and her presentations are very informative.
Dr. Nobile is by far one of the best professors I have had. She explains material so well and thoroughly and is available most of the day if you have any questions. She provides so many practice exams and examples for you. I would definitely recommend her to anyone.
Amazing teacher and person. She is very straightforward and does not try to trick you, Study her powerpoints and all the questions (even the hidden questions) and you are golden. You don't have to read any books just pay attention in class and take good notes too. Aleks is annoying but not bad it completion.
so hard, doesn't curve, great teacher but very tough
The hype is real. Her personality is extremely caring and outgoing. However, her exams tend to be difficult. This is mainly due to them usually being around only 17 questions. She will pull the SMALLEST details from lecture slides (BE CAREFUL). Compared to other CHEM1002 professors, she is probably the best bet to take. Just know her lecture slides
shes fair and a good professor; do exactly what she recommends and whats on the slides and youll get an A
As of this semester this course is 100% online and 100% on Aleks for all homework and tests. If you get an answer correct on an exam but it is not the way Aleks wants the answer formatted, it will mark you wrong and Dr. Nobile will NOT go back to mark them right and override the system even though she knows the problem. Beware of this online class.
Professor Nobile is a really good teacher, her lectures are very extensive but they are very useful and they cover all the material you will need to worry about. Although there is a lot of homework, she provides a lot of help and makes the course very easy. If you have the option to take her, you definitely should.
Dr. Nobile is an excellent professor and definitely knows what she is talking about and is very helpful outside of class. In office hours she'll spend as much time needed with you until you understand a topic. Although her grading is tough, and all online has been difficult and grading has only become harder. This class was difficult.
All of her tests are on ALEKS which means no partial credit for free-response questions. She refuses to go back and relook at tests. None of the lecture material is really graded except for some equations and some basic ideas.
Dr. Nobile is wonderful! She genuinely cares and always helps to make sure her students are doing well. She is always so well-prepared and makes what you need to do to succeed clear. Even though this section was online and asynchronous, she managed to make it engaging. It does get harder as time passes, so stay on your game. 11/10 would take again!
Dr. Nobile was an amazing professor even with this course being completely online. Her lectures were asynchronous and were never more than 35 minutes. She is great at teaching chemistry with little confusion. Labs and discussion are mandatory and somewhat difficult but overall Nobile was the best option for CHEM 1001.
Dr. Nobile is the sweetest soul. And she cares about you. Take her class!! Its not difficult if you watch the lectures and do the homework- youll get a good grade. She is so engaging and kind even in an online only class. Gave us the opportunity to replace our final exam with the hw grade (usually 100%)- shes the best!!!
Dr. Nobile is a great professor for CHEM 1001 and 1001H. Even though the class was completely online and asynchronous, her lectures were really interesting and she would apply real-life examples to her lectures. There are only 3 exams throughout the semester and she does not curve tests/grades. I would love to have her for a class again.
CHEM1001 was entirely online, including labs and discussions. Dr. Nobile's lectures thoroughly explained material with plenty of practice problems. She was upfront about expectations, and had very good exam prep that directly related to the exams. She was very accessible via email and office hours. Overall, I really enjoyed having her.
Awful class with an even worse professor. Nobile is so lazy when it comes to online class, she uses Aleks as a crutch to pretend like she's teaching something. All homework and exams are on Aleks with no partial credit. If you voice concern she will throw it back in your face and make you feel like an idiot for even asking a question. Do not take.
STAY AWAY. Her content was done fully through aleks. All home work and texts are through aleks and she offers absolutely no grace with grading through aleks. She is no help in or out of class and is often gone the day before test, making asking questions impossible. She is getting paid for assigning aleks, and will refuse to do any more work.
If this class is online, good luck. You'll use Aleks for everything and have little contact with the actual professor. Despite Nobile's lack of involvement, you can still get a good grade in this class but say goodbye to a stress-free semester. This class will make you HATE chemistry. If I could do this over again, I would not take Nobile.
Dr. Nobile was amazing. She answers emails quickly, has a lot of office hours along with the lab teaching assistants. She has extra office hours around exams. ALEKS is painful but does make sure that you learn the material. As long as you are willing to put in the work, easy A.
ALEKS took time to get used to since I didn't have Dr. Nobile for the first semester. She posts reviews that are very similar to her exams. She is organized in her announcements, you know what to expect from her. She is strict and follows her syllabus so be sure to read it . Lots of work, easy to earn a decent grade if you use the reviews.
I had Nobile for both semesters since I am used to ALEKS from high school. She has spend hours with me in office hours and emails. Very patient and caring. She sends emails after exams that are really nice to receive. I'd take her again if she teaches organic. I like her lectures even online.
This class felt like paying 3000 dollars for a course just to do tests on ALEKS (which is very picky) and she would not give you partial credit, if a problem had 5 questions and you got 4/5, the whole problem is counted as wrong. Meeting with her I would just be told to work harder on ALEKS which wasnt super helpful. Class online was not fun :(
Expect a ton of work in ALEKS but definitely doable. Dr. Nobile is very accessible and will help you with the material. Her videos are helpful. Her exam reviews are long but for use them because the tests come from them. This class is not easy but AP chemistry helped me a lot. Very different than my high school.
Easy online class. Take her if you had AP chemistry. Her lectures are easy to understand. The reviews are just like the exam.
I took Dr. Nobile for CHEM1001 and decided to take her again for 1002. We used ALEKS for everything so basically being good at ALEKS A. Her lectures are good (even though you could skip them and pass) and she seems sweet but her grading style is not my favorite. No curve or partial credit despite the fact that all the questions are FRQ.
The curve on exam 3 was a life saver. My sister said she usually drops one exam. She didnt this year but curved one exam the first semester and curved another exam this semester. ALEKS is used for homework and exams. Labs were also online. Overall it was fine. Dr. Nobile is very nice and encouraging.
DO NOT TAKE CHEM 1002 ONLINE! Your grade will be solely determined by your performance in ALEKS which is a wack system that is unfair and so hard to do well on. Aside from labs, every single thing you do in this class is on ALEKS. When I enrolled, Dr. Nobile had great reviews but she really did nothing for me in this class.
Professor Nobile is very organized and thorough in her lectures and review. She was always there if you needed help outside of class. The lectures reflected the homework given and the tests were easy if you put in the work to study before hand. I highly recommend her as a professor, especially if you are not a fan of chemistry.
Just finished the final exam and it was just like the review in Aleks. Take her! Easy class.
Dr. Nobile's classes were so organized compared to my other online courses. Her lectures were short and easy to understand. The class is a lot of work. Dr. Nobile made the expectations very clear and easy to achieve as long as you worked at it. Great professor that I hope to meet next year.
Amazing professor! Hard class but easy to get an A. She was so great.
I went to every office hour and review session and tutoring session. Dr. Nobile was so patient and understanding. She stayed after for me multiple times. Shes organized, her lectures helpful. Lots of work in ALEKS but because of her, I now like chemistry (I hated it in high school).
Dr. Nobile was the most organized online instructor I had this year. Shes great.
I just graduated and shes still my favorite professor. Her lectures helped prepare me for the MCAT.
Lectures were all asynchronous. Lab and discussion were virtual (and led by a TA). I struggled with this format. All homework and exams are on Aleks with no partial credit. The honors project was fun and replaced the detailed lab report. For the last exam, she gave the option of using the homework grade as the exam grade!
CHEM1002 was a lot of work. Dr. Nobile is very organized and fast to respond to emails. I worked hard and it was worth it. Definitely would take again if she teaches organic.
This course was completely online, including lab, and our exams were done through the homework system ALEKS. Dr. Nobile put together practice exams so we knew exactly what to study, and it was totally manageable to be prepared. She really cared and always made herself available, especially right before exams.
This class was pretty challenging, but I really learned chem well. I also basically failed high school chem, so I had a lot to learn. She really helps make things clear in her lectures, and I totally would have taken her again if I had a choice. BEWARE: If you take this class you must be a fan of the MU Naturals. It's easy to do though :)
You will actually learn and understand chem from her lectures and reviews. She prepares you well for her tests. Go to her office hours!!
Dr. Nobile is the best chem teacher I have ever had. I hated chem in high school, but now it is so much better. Go to class and take notes: the way she explains things is so helpful. GO TO OFFICE HOURS! Helped me a ton and helped form a bond. She is very receptive to all questions and is big fangirl of Ronaldo. Very funny and entertaining!
I absolutely loved Dr. Nobile. Her lectures were content heavy and she does move kinda fast through them. However she posts all her lectures online so def recommend going through them/rewriting notes after class. She genuinely cares about her students/chemistry and provides a lot of prep/study material. 4 exams and cumulative final. No midterm
I loved Dr. Nobile. She's no nonsense and really cares about you doing well. She's really good at explaining the material and always offers a couple extra credit points or rounding on tests. The hardest learning curve is ALEKs the homework software just because it's so picky. If you took AP Chem in high school this is a breeze!
GO TO CLASS, GO TO LABS. Nobile posts all her slides, but they will not make complete sense if you don't show up. Do the past exams and practice problems, get ahead on ALEKS. She does not write her own final exam, but has you take the ACS National exam (buy/find pdf of the ACS guide). Makes you WORK for the A, but respects you if you respect her.
Nice lady, bad professor. The lecture material never provides enough info to properly complete assignments, leaving students to constantly resort to outside resources. Rather spend the time in class learning it than waste time outside of class teaching myself just to complete the homework, especially when material has never been encountered before.
Dr. Nobile is a very nice and funny teacher. A lot of people like her but her teaching style wasn't a fit for me. The homework is a lot but thats a given with Chem 1001. She teaches fast and I had a hard time because you have to memorize equations for her class and know how to apply them which I struggled with.
Dr. Nobile is an amazing chemistry professor. Her powerpoints are really long though. She teaches a topic then does an example of the topic and then we answer a clicker question on the topic. This makes her slides long. She uses real life examples too. Powerpoints, reviews, practice material, homework, quizzes, midterm, final exam. Funny too.
Goes so fast when lecturing, often times cannot keep up unless you have slides open on your own. The powerpoint slides are awful in my opinion, half of the time they are very unclear and hard to decipher. She is a very kind teacher and is good with communication and tech, don't know how she compares to the other chem professors from experience
She is the best chemistry teacher. She is so much better than my high school teacher which I hated. She changed my mind. I hope to have her for organic next year. Amazing lectures and examples in her class.
Take her if you had AP chemistry in high school. She went in to more depth than my high school teacher but explained it 100 times better. She's amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Honors was easy. We had a fun project that my roommate and I did together.
Nobile is amazing. She is the most organized prof that I've had at MU. Her lectures taught me more about chemistry than I could have imagined: jewelry, olympic medals, batteries. PPTs are organized in to chapters, sections, examples, problems to solve. Extra credit on quizzes & midterm. She smiles at us a lot.
Guys... ignore any critique you might see. Dr. Nobile is literally the best chem professor you could ever ask for. I had her for chem 1001H and 1002H, and WOW I wish she taught O chem. Some think she goes fast in lectures, but hey, it keeps you on your toes and awake. If you want her to like you, ask her about her husband, Ronaldo. QUEEN I love her
Professor Nobile was a good professor but had more of a liking to her male students which was frustrating. She offers extra points throughout the semester but will not round your grade up at the end
I LOVE RONALDO'S WIFE. She made Chem 1002 not only manageable but also fun. Made me consider wanting to be a chemistry major. She deserves the world and I am so so sad I don't get to have her next year. She is so straightforward and quick with answers with one-on-one help so go to her office hours! The best teacher I ever had hands down.
Dr. Nobile truly cares about her student's future. Lectures were really thought out and made learning challenging topics much more attainable and receptive. Even with a large class size, she tires to build connections with each one of her students. Whether you struggle with chemistry or are an expert, I highly recommend Dr. Nobile.
I had Dr. Nobile for CHEM1001 and CHEM1002 and she is the best chemistry professor. She explains things so well and is so sweet and funny. She genuinely wants all of her students to do well and makes chemistry interesting. Take her!!!
Dr. Nobile is one of the kindest and most caring professors I have ever met; she wants her students to succeed and is always willing to help outside of class and at office hours. The content is challenging but it is not as bad when you take it with her. If you are nice and reach out to her you will be successful in this class. Ronaldo4Life
Dr. Nobile is really nice and a good professor. She cares about her students' success. She is very approachable during office hours. She gives biweekly quizzes, but they don't help your grade too much. Your main grade comes from the midterm and final. Get the ACS book for the final. It will help a lot.
Dr. Nobile really cares about her students. Chem 1001 is difficult on its own, but at Marquette, this is the best professor you're going to get for chemistry. Get the ACS booklet, and you'll be fine for the final exam which is exactly like the book. Quizzes are biweekly and slightly affect your grade, but definitely make sure to study for them.
Made the best out of some tough material. She doesn't teach from a textbook, everything she teaches is on her power points (that she posts on D2L). Would totally recommend.
Nobile is one of the nicest professors I have had. If you take good notes, study, do well in the labs, and go to tutoring, you will be fine in this class.
If you have to choose between a different professor and Dr. Nobile, CHOOSE DR NOBILE!! She really makes the best out of some rough material, and is a very fair professor. You can see she truly cares about her students and only wants them to succeed. We were often ahead of the material, even though it didn't feel like we were moving fast at all!
Poorly taught class, lectures from old PowerPoints in a sing-songy voice, false care for students, online randomized quizzes filled with errors, underneath it all she seems to hate to teach this large weed out class, odd extra credit where we have to perform on TikTok, does not grade on curve, be warned would not recommend
Dr. Nobile is amazing. We have had 4 quizzes and a midterm so far and the questions have been material from her lecture slides (HINT study hidden slides HINT). I am new to her class this semester and I highly recommend her over the others. Dr. Nobile is so kind and caring. Take her lecture class!!!!!!!!!! She doesn't teach lab classes.
Just so-so. Sometimes her explanations weren't very clear. Midterm average was a lower C. Everything is multiple choice so no partial credit. Asked some sophomores and they said Reid was the best prof by far for this class. Pleasant enough.
Her presentations contain numerous errors.
She uses a bank of a 1000 questions for her quizzes of which many contain errors (not enough info to answer it, wrong answer, etc).
One of the best professors I've had at Marquette. Dr. Nobile is amazing! Take her - you will learn so much from her and she is funny in lecture too. She smiles during her lectures which is very welcoming to me. The material is challenging but doable if you put in the work. The midterm was mostly her hidden slides from her lectures and her review.
I was fortunate to have AP chemistry in high school. Dr. Nobile's biweekly quizzes are straightforward, clear, from her lectures, and have extra credit questions. I have been able to score a 100 on every quiz in CHEM1001 and CHEM1002 so far. Visit her in her office hours, do the hidden slide examples, her reviews are amazing too. Take her!!!!!!
Some parts well taught, others not; there is some extra credit but the class overall is not curved including the ACS final; has been an unnecessary gpa destroyer for me; read the non-5-reviews carefully
Unfortunately, these classes have been confusing and frustrating. While Nobile is polite and approachable, her teaching style left me lost and uncertain. The midterm was challenging; many classmates felt the same. More attention could be given to provide clear explanations. Cautioning other students before committing to this instructor.
I'm in her 10 a.m. lecture and we all know the one writing the multiple bad reviews on Dr. Nobile. One student writing all the bad reviews this semester - such a shame. Dr. Nobile is FANTASTIC. Her lectures are amazing and we learn so much from her. Everyone tries to get in to her class - she is that good! WE LOVE NOBILE.
Nobile is amazing - don't believe the one student writing multiple awful reviews, we know that type. Dr. Nobile is very clear in her teaching style. The best I've had my freshman year. You will learn so much chemistry and enjoy it too. She is literally the best professor at Marquette.
Best professor I have had at Marquette. Clear on everything. Enjoyable in class. Very structured. Amazing lectures. Easy quizzes!!!!!!!!!!!! Midterm was tough but no surprises. ACS final exam is scary though. Do the extra credit!!!!!!!!!
I took AP Chemistry so maybe my view on the course difficulty is skewed. However, having taken AP Chemistry I can say that Dr. Nobile is a very clear and excellent teacher. Dr. Nobile is a top-tier teacher at Marquette and makes the transition from high school to college so much less stressful.
Just met online with her.... on a Saturday.... for help. Nothing more needs to be said.
She will gain your respect. Dr. Nobile is amazing. I've had her all year and wish I could continue to have her through organic chemistry. Take her classes! She is so smart and funny.
I am heartbroken to almost be done with her classes. She made me look forward to chemistry. Dr. Nobile was my favorite professor my freshman year. Take her if you can!
Lectures fast but I am not a quick learner. No textbook to help. Tests are not curved. ACS final guide has questions we barely covered. Online quizzes were difficult. Recommend the small 1013-1014 chem class, or take chem elsewhere and transfer credits. Nobile is funny, some extra credit, honors was a side project.
She's an amazing prof. She is funny and cracks jokes in class. She goes through problems in class but she can go fast. Best to do some of the hw before the lecture so you have an idea of what she's doing. She doesn't always go in-depth but she allows you to ask questions during lectures.
Don't know why I didn't like her last semester. Dr. Nobile makes chemistry so much more pleasant to learn. Heard bad things about Sauer. Chemistry really isn't that hard, just a lot of math. Definitely a couple times harder than gen chem 1 though. The class isn't too demanding. Just make sure you have ALEKS and quizzes done. Labs always suck.
The professor isn't difficult but the class material is very difficult. Dr. Nobile is amazing. She's a great teacher. The class is all math and RICE tables. Take Nobile if you can get in to her classes.
Class uses only multiple choice and standardized ACS final, so no partial credit possible. 10 Lab reports due in 2 days of lab. If I could do it over again, I'd take the course from the profs or elsewhere, not the Marquette instructors. Nobile is enthusiastic but neither class (Nobile, my class or Sauer, friends) was good.
CHEM1002 is tough! Nobile makes it so much better though. Take her class if you can get in. I was wait-listed and got in a week after class started. She breaks down the material so well. The class is a lot of work (math, algebra, memorizing curves and formulas). ALEKS homework is awful but made me learn the chemistry.
I will miss her lectures. She's amazing. Take Dr. Nobile if you can get in. But be prepared to work hard. General chemistry 2 is a lot of work. The TAs were very helpful. Nobile has a set grading scale, some extra credit, curves as needed but didn't seem that she needed to curve. Class average was 82.
Coming in with AP high school chemistry, this class was a breeze. Nobile kept me engaged with her lectures. Weekly quizzes are easy (lowest is dropped). Midterm was directly from lecture material and D2L reviews. Labs were OK. Final exam was nearly identical to the study guide. I wish she taught organic chemistry at Marquette. Messi>Ronaldo.
Dr. Nobile is such a caring professor this was my second semester with her, while the content was harder it was easier to understand with her help. It will not be an easy class but if you go to office hours and study hard for the ACS the grade you want is 100% achievable. No matter where you go gen chem 2 is hard but with Nobile it isn't as bad
Does anyone besides Dr. Nobile actually think Tiktok is an effective learning tool?
I was in the honors section and did a commercial short video on an element and it was a great time with my lab mate. The TikTok extra credit assignment was GOAT. Nobile was the best. I wish I could have her for organic this summer.
Nobile is the GOAT. CHEM1002 is tough but bearable with Dr. Nobile. ALEKS was not fun. SO MUCH math in CHEM1002. Take her if you can get in.
Worst class I have taken at Marquette. Make one mistake on a long problem and get no credit because all is multiple choice. Cheating is a problem in this class. Avoid
Chemistry is not my favorite but Nobile made it as enjoyable as she could have. As a biomed engineering student I just needed to pass the course. Nobile commands the class, mom like for sure. I enjoyed having her.
Both classes are identical in set up: Quizzes - open notes, multiple choice/fill in the blank Homework - free response online ALEKS Midterm exam - scantron Final exam - scantron Labs - 4 hrs + write up Dr. Nobile provided the syllabus w/the schedule for the entire year. Very organized to the date. Review days b4 quizzes and exams. Extra credit.
If you haven't had chemistry in high school (like ME), take Nobile. She's amazing. The course is challenging, Nobile makes it bearable. Favorite memory will always be the last day of class with her.
The material is very challenging. The labs are long so hope for a great TA. Dr. Nobile is amazing.
General chem 2 was a lot of work in ALEKS. There is a lot of math. Dr. Nobile makes it easier. Take her if you can get in to her class.
Dr. Nobile is the best chemistry professor!! Don't buy the textbook because her lectures cover the material and if you miss a lecture, she posts videos. Her syllabus is very clear and you get the schedule for the year in the syllabus. Reviews days are the most helpful. Open note online quizzes were very easy. Midterm was just like the review.
I had Dr. Nobile for honors which had a special honors project. My partner and I made a fun video about an element. Dr. Nobile is a great professor. She's able to break down the material better than any other chemistry teacher I've had and she's funny while she teaches.
Dr. Nobile is the best you are going to get at teaching chemistry. She's the most organized professor I had too. Take Nobile. TRUST ME. GOAT.
I'm in organic now & using everything Dr. Nobile taught me in class. Pay attention to her lectures bc she wasn't lying when she said it's important. I respect her more now that I am in another chemistry class at Marq. I miss you Dr. Nobile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Worst class and professor that I have taken so far at MU. I did not find her to be friendly or helpful. The material was not so hard but it was not taught well from just powerpoints and the tests were much harder than the course. The quizzes were disorganized. Many chegg the lab reports which is really unfortunate for those like me who did not.
GOAT at Marquette. Dr. Nobile is by far my most organized professor and the best that I have had here at college. I am an engineering students in my second year and chemistry was an easy honors class compared to engineering classes.
I helped with SPARK and promised that I would leave a review. Dr. Nobile is organized from day 1 as you get the syllabus and schedule at that point. Her lectures and video lectures are posted in D2L as well as Reviews and answer keys. Two big tests. Open note weekly quizzes. Homework daily. The way she teaches makes it easy to learn. 5 stars.
Nobile was one of the best professors at Marquette. The course is a lot of work but you'll remember all of it on the MCAT because she's a fantastic professor and really funny.
The class is the same as high school but the professor's approach and style of teaching is what made the course so much easier. Get in her classes!!
I loved Dr. Nobile. She follows her syllabus, posts the lectures, reviews, old exams on D2L. The final exam is manageable with the $30 study guide. Take Dr. Nobile.
TERRIBLE COURSE doesn't teach in any way. All material is done through achieve and third-party. This class is busy work, but tests are extreme. I had to SELF-TEACH myself or watch YouTube videos about organic chem to learn. I never give professors NEGATIVE reviews, but she deserves it. I had a 4.0 gpa after a master's degree but not anymore.
Took Nobile last year at Marquette - she's amazing. I wish she taught organic chemistry here too. ALEKS is a lot of work. Fair midterm. Final exam is standardized so use the study guide. Nobile is funny and patient. I liked the class, especially when she related it to my degree.
Dr. Nobile is an excellent professor. If you need to take Chemistry 1001 she is definitely the best choice. If you are choosing it as an elective, however, it is not in your wallet's best interest. This course with ALEKS (textbook), the attendance app, the study guide, and lab fees all have totaled over $400.
Dr. Nobile is great at teaching general chemistry. She's organized and you can tell she cares. Her syllabus is the bible so don't ask her to change anything written in the syllabus. She's engaging, funny, great class with so much homework and two big tests only. Taking her again for CHEM1002.
Worst teacher and class at Marquette. Holds grudges. Avoid.
Dr. N is great. Lab aside, she made CHEM 1001 as painless as possible (cost aside). Overall good lecturer. The last time I did chem, like 5 years ago in high school, I struggled. Chem with Nobile was a breeze. Pay decent attention in class, study for the open note quizzes and two exams, and you're golden. She genuinely wants students to succeed.
Dr. Nobile is an amazing professor and made me enjoy chemistry. She helps students understand difficult concepts in simpler ways. There is a decent amount of homework through ALEKS but it is all very helpful for the quizzes. Take Dr. Nobile.
Nobile is definitely the best option out of all the CHEM 1001 professors. Class is not too difficult as long as you do homework and study for the quizzes and exams. She is super understanding as long as you talk to her ahead of time or get help. The only bad part of the class is the ACS standardized final, however everyone at Marquette takes it.
Dr Nobile is amazing and only wants the best for her students. Definetely recommend her class but make sure to show up and utilize the sheet of paper you get on all quizzes!
Class is not curved, and instructors (Nobile and Lab Vyas) do not care about teaching. Class feels like a leftover from the pandemic. Stress of this class literally took a toll on my health. Try to take from a professor, not the instructors. Notice the pattern - a real review and then suddenly 3-4 good ones. Beware. Avoid.
Dr. Nobile is my favorite professor so far and I'm a sophomore. Her syllabus is organized, shows in her amazing lectures. She can be fun too. Take her, she's great. Chem is a lot of work so be ready to attend her lectures and spend a lot of time on ALEKS. I don't have to take chemistry second semester but if I did, I'd want Dr. Nobile again.
Dr. Nobile is a great professor. She really does a great job explaining tough chemistry concepts. Midterm exam was not too difficult, but the ACS final was difficult. The $30 study guide was helpful in preparation for the final exam. Would highly recommend taking a class with Dr. Nobile!
Dr. Nobile is a great professor my fav so far. She does a great job teaching and is very helpful in office hours if you have a question. She is kind and you can tell she wants her students to do well. The ACS is hard but she really does her best to help you prepare. If you attend lectures regularly and utilize her resources you will do just fine.
She is a very caring professor, but her quizzes can be difficult and your grade will depend on them.
She doesn't curve the grades at the end of the year. Goes very fast and expects you to know information before learning certain topics
2 semesters with Dr. Nobile & here is what I can tell you. TAKE HER! She's organized, wants you to succeed, will give you her all, and make you laugh while learning so much about chemistry. Every quiz has extra credit. She writes the midterms & with extra credit. She uses the ACS final exam & that is curved. TikTok extra credit too. GOAT.
I wish Dr. Nobile taught organic because she'd make it as easy and organized as she made CHEM1001 and 1002. Dr. Nobile is amazing. Her classes are very easy to make A's in if you attend lectures and do her reviews. She posts everything from recorded lectures to practice exams to reviews and everything has an answer key. Please teach organic!
Dr Nobile is an amazing professor and cares about her students. Go to office hours often because that is where you will be able to gain the most useful help from her one on one. She is a fair grader and has extra credit on each quiz with a note sheet available to use. Show up to class and pay attention and do ACS problems throughout the year
Great would marry if could.
If you do all of the practice she gives to prepare for quizzes and tests you'll be fine. I would definitely recommend going to office hours as she's a great resource for any confusion you may have.
Aleks is the worst thing I have ever done ever, I absolutely attribute my grade to the fact that that was a thing. She straight up said after the first test that if you didn't get at least a 50% you should consider changing your major- I am now a finance major........ thankful for the honesty tho!
Dr. Nobile was a fantastic prof. Had her for chem 1 and chem 2 and I highly recommend her class. Chemistry is not an easy subject, but Dr. Nobile tries her best to explain concepts in easy-to-understand terms. Show up to lecture, buy the ACS guide for the final, and you will do very well in the class.
The worst instructor I've had at Marquette. Relies on Aleks and too detached to write own final. Super glad she does not teach organic and I'm done with this situation.
I had a full year of Nobile so trust what I say. TAKE HER! Her lectures are fun and funny. She explains chemistry unlike any teacher I've had. Extra credit on quizzes and midterm. Final was ACS curved. The homework is adaptive learning so don't forget anything! She gave us reviews, practice exams, recorded lectures, real life examples, laughs
Dr. Nobile is a caring professor who wants her students to succeed. The class can be challenging, but attending lectures and using resources like Unstuck study for study prep can really help. Stick with it, and you'll do just fine.
I love Dr. Nobile she is literally so smart and explains things so well. Her office hours are very helpful and she is very kind and approachable during those times. The labs and discussions aren't bad but its time consuming. Aleks is the worst part but Dr. Nobile is wonderful. 10/10 would take her class again.
Dr.Nobile cares about her students. Definitely depends a lot on her slides. She talk talk very boring throughout the lectures and it does get boring. Its important to def take notes and pay attention. I would also recommend tutoring if your struggling.
Dr. Nobile is an amazing professor. She is great at explaining topics and concepts to you.
By far the best chem professor to take. There was opportunities for extra credit on exams and extra credit points given back. Her lectures move a little quick but she explains things well and goes through helpful review and practice problems.
She is amazing and funny! While her quizzes are tough, she offers curves and extra credit, which helps. I struggled in bio overall, so I didn't do as well as I'd hoped in her class, but she remains one of my favorite professors. Her engaging teaching style and support make her stand out!
She will more than likely tell you to switch your major if you feel like you're struggling no matter what time of the semester it is. Not very helpful unless you go to office hours and she will tell you that she won't talk to you UNLESS you go to office hours. Emails are passive aggressive and usually end with, "You can always drop the course."
Dr. Nobile is likely the best professor I might have at MU. Her class is organized. She reaches out to students who are doing well and when you are struggling. She recognized a bad week for me and asked if everything was OK. I was one of 450 students in her class. She's super caring, very supportive, understands her students. Cares for us.
I didn't do as well as I could have because the class was hard for me but Nobile supported me. She provided what I needed to pass the course. Don't be like me. I didn't go to her office hours or the review sessions. Don't be like me and not use the help. She's extremely encouraging. She sees u even when u think she doesn't.
This class is what you would think a chemistry class would be like in college. Hard. I loved Dr.Nobile. She was funny and equally as tough. There is extra credit in almost every part of the class and the lab. She won't curve on top of the extra credit and she explains that in class. I tried and she denied. Dr. Nobile is fair. Take her.
Dr. Nobile is the best. Not only is she super smart, but she's also gorgeous. Work hard in her class and you'll do well. My best advice for studying would be to go over all of the lecture slides and do the practice problems that she puts in them, as well as the ones on D2L. I will recommend Nobile until I die she is awesome.
CHEM1001 is a difficult class. However, Dr. Nobile is extremely helpful and is easy to reach out to for extra help. She also gives out extra credit and will curve tests. She is very caring and wants you to succeed. Definitely the best professor for CHEM1001.
This class is exactly what I hoped for at MU. The material is challenging but taught effectively, and Dr. Nobile is extremely qualified. She gives amazing lectures and extra credit, but ultimately, you are responsible for your own grade. Be prepared for a college-level course, work hard outside the classroom, and reach out for help if you need it!
Dr. Nobile is the best professor I've ever had. Her lectures are great and very easy to follow. She also goes through countless practice problems to make sure the class understands the topic. She is also very relatable and connects her lectures to real world topics and loves to make jokes.
Dr. Nobile is the best! Genuinely made chemistry understandable and interesting. The final is very difficult but her quizzes and midterm are manageable.
Dr. Nobile is a great professor! She cares a lot about her students and is available outside of class. Her lectures are engaging and easy to follow along with. She posts the slides and has videos from COVID that you can watch. There are many resources she provides to prepare for quizzes and tests.
Chem 1001 is no joke, if you go into it only taking chem sophomore year of high school, good luck you have to teach yourself the material that is discussed in the lectures. There are little to no opportunities to pull your grade up. Midterm is hard. I went to office hours to ask for help; she told me, "Write the chemistry on paper"
Take her for both CHEM1001 and 1002 or you'll struggle in 1002. I had a different professor for 1001 and I am not prepared for 1002 with her. I thought she was the easier professor because her classes bragged so much but now I realize that she is just a better teacher all around. The struggle is real in 1002.
Take CHEM 1001 and CHEM 1002 with her! She teaches the material really well and is very personable and welcoming. She's super funny and makes the lectures enjoyable.
Amazing Teacher. You need her for Chem 1 and 2
Dr. Nobile is running a weed out class. She on the surface appears to care for the students but makes errors in lectures and on quizzes and good luck getting those acknowledged and fixed. Fortunately, she does not teach organic. If she were to review herself, I am sure there would be lots of great reviews. Avoid her, take honors chem, better prof
New to Dr. Nobile this semester for honors chemistry. She explains chemistry so much easier than my first semester. Her classes are hard to get in to but being in honors gets you right in. We have a project instead of a lab. The rest of the syllabus is the same. Exams are long. Grading is very clear. Thought I hated chem before her. GOAT.
She's the easiest to understand. Take her.
Just like high school chemistry but better. Dr. Nobile explains chemistry, lots of examples, tests are tougher than high school as expected. The roughest part is ALEKS. Sometimes she has fun extra credit in class but don't rely on it to pass the class.
I relied on my high school chemistry to make it through this class. Biggest problems are that the quiz questions are not worded well, she makes errors in teaching, we are not well prepared for the final. Nobile is approachable. Wish I could have taken the small class honors version. Do not recommend this large class especially if pre-med, avoid.
Honors here. It's unfortunate that 1 upset student has been writing repeated bad reviews of her. Started w/16 in my class and we are all still in class. Not a weed out. Been to all lectures and no mistakes. Open note quizzes so pay attention to review day questions. 2 in class exams. She's 1st generation, Spanish but no accent. Inspiring. 100
grades based on quizzes, hw, labs, midterm and final she will relate chemistry to soccer, cr7, messi, sports, marvel, dc and fast furious movies, spongebob, cars, vitamins, health, she doesnt like aspartame, lotions, thanksgiving, batteries, gemstones, her ring, olympic metals, ww1, ww2, drugs, radiation and more. i liked it and the extra credit
Our study group is rating profs tonight. I've only had one semester with Nobile and wished I had both semesters with her. She's as great as everyone said last semester. Chemistry is not easy and I haven't seen it since my sophomore year but she makes it better. Titrations are my least fav. Big class but it doesn't really feel that big.
I love Dr. Nobile. She makes chemistry easy and fun, which I didn't know was possible. Her syllabus is a bible and she follows it. I love her organization. Her husband is Ronaldo and the picture in the organic chemistry powerpoint is the best part. Take Nobile if you can.
Abramovich, Nobile, Katz is the combo for biology, chemistry, bisc. I've had a full year of Dr. Nobile and I've learned to see chemistry everywhere. Plus as a bonus she is funny and her extra credit is worth it. I wish she taught organic chemistry in the fall.
Attendance doesn't really count since it is 1% of the grade. I don't like that she won't make exceptions to the course rules that she has in the syllabus. I do respect that she has 400 students and treats everyone equally by the syllabus. She will give extra credit and curve. She's good at teaching chemistry but don't ask her for an exception.
She is the best Chem professor here. She wants you to succeed and will help you if you reach out. Her class is hard but if you put in the work you can do well. Lecture's are recorded online to look back at, 20% weekly open note quizzes, 2 exams worth 40% of grade, 20% lab, and some smaller % here and there. If you can, take her.
Best way to learn chemistry. I enjoyed lecture and learned so much. Her midterm was pretty difficult because there was a lot of questions in a short time but there are so many other easy ways that that grade really does not matter. She is by far the best chemistry teacher for this course. TAKE HER!!
LOVE HER! TAKE HER! You have to study and do your work. That is obvious. Her reviews are just like the quizzes (open note) and in class exams (so long). She curves the class: quizzes-exams-labs-attendance and the extra credits are fun: basketball-singing-TikTok. Wait listed, got in for gen chem2 and am incredibly grateful. First A in chemistry!!
There's quizzes with one being dropped and a bonus but she will haunt with this bonus the whole semester calling this a curve. She made the whole class do a survey for 0.5 EC points and made us feel like it was so much. DONT TAKE HER. Exams are so hard writes half of them wrong. Take Gardiner for 1001 and SAUER for 1002. She gives 4 versioned exams
I took AP chemistry in high school and loved Nobile's way of teaching college chem. The material was the same as high school but Nobile teaches chemistry wayyyyyyyyy better. Easy A if you had high school chemistry. Pre-med so my AP class didn't transfer. Learned a lot about the chemistry of Ronaldo.
Honors chem 1002H was fun and easy because of Dr. Nobile. Did the honors project with my lab partner. That was an easy grade for one of the labs. Nobile teaches chemistry, does a review, and then quizzes and tests on the chemistry she went over in the reviews. Don't skip the review days!!!!!! You can miss class and watch her videos tho.
Midterm was insane. Final was okay. Prof Nobile responds quickly to emails and is easy to talk to. I deserved a C but pulled off a B- from the curve. Good enough for engineering.
My freshman year was very similar to high school chem except Dr. Nobile was much better at explaining chemistry. The class moves fast. She posts the schedule. When she finished a lecture early on the schedule we reviewed that day. Classes went fast with her. I enjoyed the year with Dr. Nobile.
G.O.A.T. bc she is easy to understand, entertaining lectures, makes learning chemistry amazing. I had Dr. Nobile for both semesters and highly recommend incoming freshman to try to get in to her courses.
4 versions of the exams from lectures, reviews, homework, IN CLASS REVIEWS were the best. Dr. Nobile was amazing. I wish I had her for CHEM1001. Organized, understandable, lots of extra credit throughout the course and she adds more at the end.
She's very kind and helpful but she doesn't give great examples/explanations so I'd recommend a tutor.
She made me love chemistry. Study her reviews, attend her lecture review days, take her practice test, pay attention to her in-class examples. The quizzes are similar to her examples in class and in her reviews. It's a hard class. If you like Marvel, Fast & Furious, Ronaldo, DC, chemistry in our every day life like lotions, she explains it all.
Warm and welcoming. So smart, great lectures, take her. Her quizzes and exams are just like her reviews in class. Do the homework and the labs. If you had a good chemistry teacher in high school you don't need to attend every class but attend the review days.
I did not enjoy this class. I actually regressed because of this class. Dr.Nobile is nice, but she explained concepts I already knew well, so unnecessarily complicated, that I genuinely forgot basic concepts. I disliked her TA too, she was nice but unhelpful and was a very strict grader for lab reports. You either got full credit, or none.
Dr. Nobile is the GOAT. Pray for an early registration slot to get in to her class.
Although attendance was only 1% of the entire grade, show up to lecture even if you already know the material. Having come from AP Chem the year before, a lot of the content was just review but Dr. Nobile explains things in a really clear and concise way and it's really helpful especially if you haven't taken upper level chemistry courses before.
