Professor doesn't speak clear English. She is extremely aggressive toward students with questions and loses her temper regularly. She does not have the correct temperament for teaching on this side of the iron curtain. Female students cried and male students were angry with bewilderment. Awful awful instructor.
I thought Mrs. Mazzawi was very patient with all her students, and really cared about them. She kept the mood light, and used real world applications to explain the work. I will take her again if possible as I was very pleased with her teaching style, and I would recommend her to any student that is prepared to work. She gets an A in my Book.
This is one of the best instructers i have had so far. She takes extra time to make sure everyone gets the asignment. She will go out of her way to help you if you need it. Was vey impressed with her desire to want everyone to understand math. She gives no "free lunchs" but that is what you need to learn, yet she is always there to help. #1 teacher
I took her for math this quarter and was impressed with her teaching style. She is caring and extrememly helpful. The student that posted the comment on 5/18, I'm not sure which class they were in, but it wasn't mine. No student cried and people weren't angry. I'm also not amused with their reference to her nationalily, I though we were adults.
My favorite teacher ever. Mrs. Mazzawi makes math fun to learn, she is light spirited and a joy to learn from. She does have a strong accent but you get used to it after a week or so. Very Helpful, always wants you to understand and willing to spend time to get you there. Do your assigned work and you can't fail.
I actually enjoyed math a little bit in her class. She has an enthusiasm for it that has to makes you smile. The only negative comment, the first one, was prior to the end of the semester, so i'm guessing he didn't even finish. She cares that you know what you are doing and that is refreshing.
This math teacher is highly competent; she functions at a very high level. I have trouble with math and she was extremely accommodating to my needs, and went out of her way to help me succeed.
AWesome teacher! Always willing to give help especially if you are having hard .She is great.Plan on continuing classes with her. Awesome
She is very helpful and caring .Takes extra time in helping her students anytime. She taught me to appreciate math. She also helped me when I went to another math class. She is always there for you even if are in another class. Take her class because she will help you.She care about you
Great instructor. I like her accent :) She is very helpful and explains the topic very well. I will definitely enroll in her future class. I actually love Math now after having her as my instructor.
Ms. Mazzawi is the single best math teacher I haver had. I really have NOTHING bad to say about her. If w you are willing to put in the effort she will make sure you suceed!!
Single best math teacher I have ever had.. puts every effort into helping her students learn and goes. Above and beyond in helping those who do not understand or are struggling.. she will go out of her way to offer additional help outside the classroom in order to help everyone be successful. Grades on homework quizzes, exams helps u pass class.
Really took an interest in helping her students pass the class. The easiest to understand because she writes on the board and engages her students. Not ur whole grade is on tests which really helps those who aren't very good at math. I will keep taking her throughout my math. She is amazing really cares about her students.
Couldn't understand what she was saying because she has such a thick accent. She seems to take it personally if you don't understand what she's teaching. Pokes fun at you if you can't grasp the material. I was very uncomfortable the short time I was in her class.
She is a very nice person and and is very pretty, but tough, she is a hard grader and her class is not easy. Gives no extra credit or extra help to bring your grade up. Thank god her exams were not the only thing that mattered or I would have failed.
Mrs. Mazzawi was a wonderful teacher. She always went out of her way to help her students. I would definitely take another class from her. Thanks for everything.
She was a great teacher. I learned so much, and her accent isn't that bad... sometimes you just need to clarify what she said:) She is always willing to help you as best as she can, and she loves to give extra credit. I highly recommend you choose her as a professor.
Mazzawi is probably the best teacher I have ever had at EvCC. She may have a strong accent, but after a while, you will adapt to it. Mazzawi truly cares about your grade and will do whatever she can to help you.
Good teacher overall, heavy accent but you get used to it. Doesn't teach too fast and offers lots of help outside of class.
Lobna was a great instructor for me. She was firm and demanded that you put in effort but also was reasonable and accommodating in scheduling difficulties. I look forward to my next class with her. If you come ready to learn she will help you through.
Mazzawi is probably the best professor at the college. She truly cares about her students and goes above and beyond in order for you to understand the material. I took her for both math 141 and math 142. Although the material was hard, she truly invests in her students. She has an incredible sense of humor, class is not boring.
Mazzawi is the best teacher I have ever had. Math is death for me, and she was able to give me confidence back in the subject, and i found myself actually liking math! She is easy to talk to, easy to express frustration, and she knows when you are confused and will back track to help you out. TAKE HER CLASSES!
She is fair and is clear on what to do and is always available for help. She also grades homework, which is basically free points towards your grade if you aren't good with tests. She can be hard to understand at first and sometimes will get impatient and frustrated with students, but overall a good teacher. She wants everybody to succeed.
She is a really caring good teacher. She can be hard to understand because of her accent, but really she helped me with math. I have always had a hard time with it and she made it so simple. She is also very understanding and cares about her students. She gets back to you quickly and is overall very helpful and a very good communicator.
really nice teacher. understands that the subject matter is hard. assigns quite a bit of work though, which gets to be overkill sometimes. make sure to attend every class. she really just wants to teach her students in the best way possible. a demanding class, but she does what she can to help students through it.
she is near incomprehensible when teaching, not cause of her accent, but her sheer misunderstanding of the english language. she bites your head off if you ask a question, is an unfair grader (mainly cause she words things a certain stupid way and expects you to understand). i had 90's on tests till the word problems. then you couldnt read anything
Grammar is terrible. Does not make it easy to understand when a teacher who's second language is English is teaching word problems. Does not seem to welcome questions or criticism very well. Do not recommend her at all.
I enjoy taking her classes. Her accent was a challenge for some but I had no issues and if I wasn't sure I would ask. She is firm but fair. Attend classes, be prepared, ask questions and you will be fine. She is available outside of class time if you don't understand as well. Not all instructors are.
I took her online math class and it was horrible. She did not actually teach, she let the program do it all for her, and then used unrelated problems on the exams that she made 60% of the grade. She's hard to understand, does not seem to care about her students, and I will not be taking another class with her.
Taking this class was extremely hard, but because I had this great teacher, things weren't as bad. It was a bit confusing for me when my exams got miss graded. Good thing I was able to catch the mistakes
Not a good teacher. Do not take her class.
She is helpful to an extent ... For the most part I hates this class and she gets snippy with you very quickly. She's understanding but 60% of your grade is 5 tests ...
I loved this class! Math has always been a huge struggle for me but she was very understanding when I would ask questions. I got some bad test grades and she was very nice about meeting outside of class tutoring me over the subjects I did poorly in. Study for her tests! She has a thick accent but it's still easy to understand (:
Do not take a class with this teacher. You will regret it. Constantly late for class, extremely hard to understand, unhelpful, doesn't show up for office hours. Gets an attitude when asked questions. Learn from my mistake
Not a good teacher. Hard to understand. Doesn't like being asked questions. She can be really hard on students when they ask questions.
Took her online class for 107. Everyone failed. Midway, let us to join her face to face class. Average was B+. OL is all under mymathlab and harder coarse work with little to no resources. Got 100% on all OL and written work, but EVERYONE failed the midterm. Get a tutor! Take notes! Do NOT take OL version if you struggle in any way. Exams = 60%!
I will say this, teacher is passionate in teaching, BUT she is very harsh towards questions, as she will either make you feel stupid or be fairly harsh about it. She will make mistakes when teaching and blame the class for it, DOES not give partial credit, assigns both textbook and online homework equaling to 65 problems. Be prepared.
She seemed to want the class to participate in discussions, but she is very intimidating, so nobody really wanted to talk. She would constantly call on random people for the answer, but rarely give you enough time to answer. I was able to understand the accent, but I wouldn't take it if you have difficulty with accents.
She is a very nice person. But the way she teaches is very confusing. Not recommend to take her class.
She is very hard to understand and is angered by questions. I would recommend finding a different teacher if you are taking this course.
This professor is an extremely tough grader who hates being asked questions of any sort. Her accent is hard to understand and she likes to put the spotlight on random students in class. If they don't know the answer she can be harsh on them. If you arrive to the same answer as her, but a different way she deducts points.
Horrible communicator. She will not answer your questions and if she does it will be in bright red bold lettering, as if she is yelling at you. I once asked a question and was told "In my opinion I was perfectly clear, read the text book". I had to withdraw from the class due to lack of support and clarity.
Hates being asked questions and is demeaning towards students. I would never take another class with her.
While she has an accent don't let it intimidate you; so long as you pay attention you'll understand the lectures just fine. She does everything she can to help you and will take class time to explain something even if its just a small question. Very understanding and just wants you to succeed. Great professor.
Very unorganized. I took her class online and it was a mess. She would put up our quizzes last minute. She sent out a reminder that it was the last day to withdraw from her class without having any grades posted. I aced all her assignments and quizzes but still didn't pass. I emailed her several times and never once received a reply. Never again.
I don't who to complain to but I took this class for preperation for my BSN but taking this online and with her was a terrible idea. She used a completely different book and a program that didn't follow it so the homework and tests didn't match up with the book. So I didn't even bother using the textbook anymore.
Mrs. Mazzawi means well but she makes lots of errors. Her notes & messages are full of them (including data values) so you must pay close attention. Don't be afraid to ask her to clarify the assignments but ask nicely (she can get defensive). Visit the tutoring center often & form a study group. This will help you stay on track. DO THE HOMEWORK!
I have taken 28 classes including completing the nursing program here. Worst grade I have ever received (until now) was a B-. Was accepted to UW for my BSN. NEVER have I put so many hours into trying to learn the material for a class (nursing school included). To say that I am frustrated is a huge understatement. I DO NOT recommend her.
If you want to take this class online; and be given the assignments on how to teach yourself statistics, and learn how to figure out problem solving and expectations... with a lot of homework, changes, and give yourself a challenge; then this is the class for you. I used all resources; studied, put in the work, and fought really hard for my C+.
She assumes all the time we ask questions that we know nothing about it; therefore, she always explains clearly and slowly to get the whole meaning step by step. She loves students with critical thinking questions.
I am a 4.0 student and this is the most unorganized class I have taken. She wrote "Case study 1 will be available at the beginning of the first week." It is now the middle of the second. "Discussion boards will open Monday mornings." It is now Tuesday night. 5-6 hours of work a day 7 days a week. The class is only 5 c, so should be 15 h. a week.
Nothing against Lobna, she is a good person but is all over her place with her lectures so if you don't understand the material you are going to be lost. It is also very difficult to take notes since she is not very structured in her teaching.
If you suck at math but have a good work ethic and on top of your assignments, and don't skip class it's an easy A or B grade.
I took her Math 141 and liked her teaching style, so I took her class again for Math 151. She makes everything clear so that every student can understand class material, which will results in good grades on exams. Students will be greatly successful in her class as long as they do textbook homework. She is so passionate in teaching and the best.
Disorganized, unclear dates and changes to the schedule. Do not take this class online with this teacher; if you have to take it, take it with a different teacher or locally.
She talks very fast and its hard to understand her with her accent.
I thought math was my favorite subject before I took this class. She was unclear, unhelpful, and did not seem to care at all about students progress.
do not take this class. really hard. I don't know what she said. when I ask she said go home and looking for internet. Do not take this class.
The course itself was not hard but she managed to make it much more difficult. She gives almost no partial credit and her test are very long. I ran out of time on 2/3 of my test along with the rest of my classmates. I would take Debbie instead if you have the option to.
She does have an accent but I was still able to understand what she was saying. She is a good teacher for statistics but the class itself can be tuff. She is very passionate about student participation so be ready to answer questions. In my opinion if you don't attend every class you will struggle in this course.
It's not easy A teacher .. A lot of homeworks to do in addition to hard tests . But i really like her teaching strategies. It makes you work harder and it prepares you for teats
Really thick accent so shes hard to understand sometimes, but overall shes really passionate about statistics. Make sure you read things carefully on her exams. Homework doesn't match lecture. Do the textbook homework for extra credit on the exam!!!
Most of the reviews I've seen of her have been from about 2 years ago. Her accent is a little offsetting, but its nothing too jarring for me to focus. She always says to ask her questions, to email her outside of class if you have questions, etc. She's very passionate about math, and thus explains it in ways that are understandable and applicable.
Lobna is one of the best professor's I've ever had! Integral calculus is a difficult subject, but I survived with her help. It is obvious that she genuinely cares about her students. She was always willing to explain anything and made an effort to motivate the class. Great teacher and overall human being.
Attendance wasn't mandatory but definitely don't miss class or you will easily fall behind. Online homework is different than the tests and what she teaches in class. Keep up on your work and it's not that hard of a class.
Mazzawi is the best math teacher! I had her for calc 1 and now statistics. She teaches statistics really well and you don't even need the book. If you do the hw and extra book hw for extra credit you'll be fine. Statistics is not a hard class overall but Mazzawi makes it approachable for everyone even those who hate math.
Getting used to her teaching style/personality is a process but once you do understand you see what a great teacher she is. She really cares about the class understanding the material. Stay on top of the homework (aka EASY POINTS), study often if you struggle, and try not to miss too much class you can easily fall behind. Great teacher overall!
Make sure to attend daily, follow up on hw. Cheater beware she don't play games. Very accessible to students.
She definitely gives a decent amount of homework, but it's because she wants to re enforce the material being learned. Super fun and easy going, she cares about the success of all her students. If you're serious about learning take her class. She'll go the extra mile to help you. If you want an easy A without the effort try another teacher.
Lobna is a great teacher, I took this same class a year ago online and just despised it and how she ran it however I took it again but this time in person and she is an amazing teacher and the material makes so much sense now. She always helps you, she does powerpoint lecture and teachings on the board and always does practice for everyone in class
First thing: the course itself was very easy and fun too! This particular class however was time consuming and pointless. Not only does she have a thick accent and is hard to understand, but she is rude too. She assigns A LOT of online homework and in class worksheets as well and though they are easy they don't relate to exams and take too long.
There is no way I would ever take a class with her again. She is extremely condescending and won't answer a lot of your questions. We were left to teach ourselves chapter 9 since there wasn't time in the quarter to cover it. She expects you to know a lot of the stuff and doesn't even teach it.
Lobna was the worst teacher I have taken a class with at Everett Community College and I would never take a class with her again. She is very rude and condescending. Lobna will call you out in front of the class for stuff and not give you enough time to answer her questions. She also makes the concepts more difficult then they should be.
I enjoyed Mrs. Mazzawi's statistics class. The class itself is for the most part easy. While she does have a heavy accent, I was still able to understand her fine. She is pretty funny in my opinion and did not act disrespectful to me. She does have a no BS kind of attitude. Statistic is not a difficult class, as long as you give a good faith effort
She makes the exams worth 60% of your final grade so if you do not do well on them your grade suffers horribly. She is big on truly understanding the concepts and not just memorization. If you are not good at taking tests then beware!
Her accent is thick but doesn't hinder learning much. She's very nice and passionate and funny. However, her time management is poor. She spends too much time covering easy topics and it enough covering the difficult ones. Tests are worth a majority of the grade. She can also be slightly condescending. Loved her as a person, not as a professor.
Exams are worth 60% of your grade so be prepared to study hard! Lobna is sweet and tries her best to help her students. I took math 141 online and she made herself avalible to help all the time if it was needed so don't be afraid to ask for it. If you don't have a lot of time for this class your grade will suffer, lots of material covered.
Boy, if there was one teacher who made me work for it, it was Mazzawi. That being said, oddly enough, I would never take anyone else for a math class ever. She explains things clearly and precisely. She also has a very kind heart and takes time to get to know the students. The only students who dislike her are the slackers. Tough grader, kind heart
Good person, but as a professor not really. She can explain somewhat good on topics. Main issue was the grading, she made learning easier but was harsh grading our work. if it's not what SHE wants to read then forget it even if your answer had the same meaning. Really unnecessary. Make sure to check ur papers she tends to mis-grade as well.
Lobna is a really nice person, but not so good of a teacher. There was so much online homework and quizzes that this class alone consumed about 3 hours a day. She believes that students shouldn't memorize formulas, but understand concepts. She would put questions on the exams that were way different and harder than the homework.
Lobna Mazzawi is a great professor. She god 4 stars from me because she is a tougher grader that what we usually like. But,, I liked the class because all quizzes and homeworks were online except for the tests, which there were only a few throughout the course. Overall, she is pretty good at teaching but beware of her heavy accent. I got use to it
Overall she is a good professor. she gives notes and worksheets every class. She gives quite a number of quizzes and exams. For me it is manageable, since math is all about practice. Although she has a strong accent but as an international student, I'm able to understand her lecture. She is always very prepared and don't really make mistakes.
shes an amazing professor, she actually works at both EVCC and the University of Washington Bothell so I took her BMath 121 class at UWB and she is truly a gem, I wish I could have her for all of my math classes
Lobna is an awesome teacher. You can tell she enjoys her job. It's a hard class, but she gives enough homework to boost your grade if you do poorly on tests. Tests are weighted. Always offers her office hours & is easily contacted outside of class. She gives a lot of information at once, so class can be overwhelming at times.
Mazzawi has a condescending attitude and as a result doesn't realize how poor her teaching skills are. When she gives an exam she will claim the problems are from the homework, but they are not. They are the most algebracily tricky version of them she can find. She also takes forever to grade anything and provides very little feedback.
Funny accent, but pretty and nice. Sometimes says the opposite of what she means, but if you pay attention she's a good teacher.
I don't think she ever once answered a students question without either A) making the student feel dumb for asking it in the 1st place or B) giving an explanation that not only doesn't answer your question but often while making you more confused. There were many times where she couldn't understand a students question but another student could.
I didnt understand a lot of what she was teaching, I had to google most of the material when I got around to the homework. Also, I felt that some of her grading on tests was overly picky/unfair.
Her grading was confusing, and at times, way too strict. I feel like I never really learned anything from her, she did more talking at us than trying to help us understand. It's not easy to ask her for help, either, as she tends to come off as either rude or unclear.
I strongly recommend attending class unless you want to feel lost. Although she admittedly gets irritable easily & gives snarky remarks often, she deserves more respect than she is given. She said this quarter was the worst performance she's seen & I felt that it was true. She does actually care but won't give more effort that you do. That's life.
She is a funny teacher, although her teaching style is very fast paced. Online and Textbook homework is assigned like many classes, but we learn a new part of the chapter everyday so if you fall behind, you will struggle A LOT. She stumbles on her words and messes up easily in her example problems so it gets really confusing and hard to follow.
Lobna is a really nice lady, and you can tell she cares. I'm sure she's good in other classes, but stats isn't her strongsuit. Do yourself a favor and take this class elsewhere.
nice, but heavy on tests. Exams are 60% of your grade. Hard to understand. Rushes and does not thoroughly explain.
Lobna's a great person, but a difficult teacher. Her accent is strong and it's very easy to get lost in what she is saying. The textbook and lectures are very confusing. The majority of my research on this topic was done online. The first thing she does is spit out several definitions and expects you to know them. She is very passive aggressive.
Really difficult to understand because of her accent, however she is very nice and wants you to learn. She would record her lectures through panopto but it still was hard to follow along.
Professor Mazzawi is a nice teacher and she wants you to pass her class, but the heavy accent that she has in her can be easily get lost in when youre listening to her lectures and such. She also has you do hw every single weekend and its also due every weekend as well. I wouldnt take her again.
Mazzawi is very caring, but her class is pretty challenging when compared to an average college class. There's a lot of quizzes and homework. In class quizzes that are worth 10% of your grade, tend to have 2-3 questions, that if you get one wrong, you fail it. But she drops the lowest two quizzes. She wants you to pass but is still strict
This class is pretty tough. We taught ourselves at home the new material and then u could come to class to have her go over it for like 10 minutes and then do practice problems 4 remainder of the 2 hours. She made you feel dumb if you didn't understand the unit. She did have 1 hour after class study group. Throws so much rude shade for no reason.
Took her this quarter and a lot of the work and tests she had us do had English mistakes. One question was unintelligible to the point where I just had to guess. Requires a lot of work outside of class and it can take an unreasonable amount of time. Teaching style is very, "learn for yourself" and requires a lot of effort on your part.
I don't like to rate so slow, but this teacher goes out of her way to belittle and patronize students. She chooses people based on appearance and tries to get the class to laugh with her about their mistakes or questions. It's strange to watch a teacher act that way. She makes mistakes throughout every lesson/ quiz and argues if you point it out.
She messed up a test and gave some students wrong copies so instead of just grading those she made those students retake the real test
do not take her is you struggle with math- or if you are still learnign english- she has a very heavy accents, talks fast, and expects you to read, do math, and listen at the same time. clear grading criteria but obviously barely payed attention to the students there. bad choice if u need her class as a pre req- not good for info retention
the pedagogy and instructions from Prof Lobna is poor. She informs her class that her lectures cover 95% of what we will be graded upon, and instructs us to only study the sections that she covers (he HW and chapter quizzes are covers more). And her videos are her repeating what is in the book. No diversity of example. She chastises the class too.
Wording of homework and test make it difficult, Heavy accent do not recommend for online learning.
Shes rude and goes out of her way to insult students. If you dont have an A, she hates you and criticizes you. Also expects everyone to understand what she teaches and that everyone learns the same way. Really inclusive and would not reccomend.
This teacher gives so many opportunities for the students to succeed. Really good at explaining the material. If you put in reasonable effort you would pass this class easily. Highly recommend taking a class with her!
Explains the material very well and if you attend you will do great. If you do well throughout the quarter you don't have to do the final because she drops one of the exams at the end of the quarter. At the end of the quarter, she gives extra credit that is so easy to complete. She is easy to reach outside of class and is ready to help.
Lobna is a really nice person, terrible teacher. She has over 6+ lectures per chapter that do not correlate to the hw/tests. I highly recommend only studying the hw, her videos / zooms are pointless. Her zoom classes are only for review sessions. She really wants you to do well but, gives you all the wrong tools. She removes lowest quiz /hw score.
Amazing teacher with a refreshing teaching style. Cares for her students knowledge and success. She wants you to understand the processes and why it is that way. You will work hard and be challenged, but it is easy to follow as long as you attend her classes. Don't be afraid to give a wrong answer because it will happen.
Mazzawi gives out way too much homework, homework takes hours per unit. Multiple units assigned weekly to complete. Quizzes are 60% of your grade. We have a quiz every week. Do badly on a quiz? Your grade goes down a lot. Doesn't really teach you anything - I had to teach myself through all units. I don't recommend. Her class is very hard to pass.
Professor grate! Always willing to help, very organized nice person. Has office hours for you to help with any questions. Took statistics , overall very difficult class. If you one of those people that wait to do all your work on weekends, this class is not for you. Be prepared to have 2-3 hours of study a day, homeworks takes a lot of time.
Very organized from the start. Homework was due every Sunday & a quiz every Sunday, so you have the whole week to pause and finish up when you can. There is a lot of homework, but it helps with understanding the material. I personally thought her lectures helped a lot, although they were long videos! & she is willing to go over quizzes w/ you.
What Mrs. Mazzawi teaches is irrelevant to what is asked in her weekly quizzes. She gives out over 5+ lectures 40mins+ per chapter which do not correlate to the hw given. Over half my class dropped this professor for good reason. Her grading criteria is a complete audible when she feels like it. No one in my class received higher than a B+
This is not a class you can just simply skate through or only focus on two days a week. I have completed over 20 classes with EVCC this was by far the most time consuming class (expect 20 plus hours/week). That being said, I have never had a teacher invest and dedicate so much time to her students! I could not have passed without her commitment!
Changes the syllabus homework was 30% she changes it to 20% and quizzes were 40% then she changed it to 50% of the grades over half way through the quarter. Took out the syllabus quiz out of the grade book. Made promises about extra credit, but never put them in. Lectures and her notes do not correlate to most of the homework or quizzes.
She made the final exam the night before, most of the exam also didnt correlate to what past chapters were. No one got above a C on the exam. Didnt respond to the email I sent her asking what I should do when the content doesnt correlate with the tests. When asked about the difficult math problems, ignored it. She only did easy ones. Dont take
Told her students the dean asked her why her test scores are so low&she said because my students dont study/bother to take the tests. Says you dont have to use the textbook just stick her lectures. Teaching myself using the textbook is how I passed. Dont recommend taking this teacher, shes very unprofessional and has absolutely no teaching skills
this class is the worst math class i have ever taken&i love math. she has hour long zooms everyday where she talks at us the whole time yet i got to the homework&quizzes and was given stuff i had never seen before. if an emergency ever pops up dont expect any sympathy or even day extensions. If you struggle dont ask her for help she wont help.
I have reached out to this teacher many times with a response each time of "as I said before look here" Where I still fail to find the information I am looking for. If something seems incorrect on a quiz and you ask her to explain, she will simply not get back to you. I am not hard on teachers, this is disappointing.
The coursework itself was honestly not that bad. this class is very statcrunch heavy which makes it easy. BUT the exams are horrid, no one got higher than a B- on the first exam and after the second exam lets just say I dropped from an A to a B. The exam is full of typos and some questions are literally unanswerable. this teacher is a last resort.
With a very difficult topic, you really need to apply yourself. Read the textbook and take advantage of all the videos in it and provided in canvas. Attendance is not mandatory but is important if you really want to understand the info. She communicates but won't just give you the answer, you need to do the work. Plenty of tutor opportunities!
WATCH HER LECTURE VIDEOS. ABSOLUTELY NECCESARY. I wish I hadn't bought the book, as I stopped using it at all after Chapter 4. She provides a lot of handouts and tables, but her quiz and exam questions are completely out of hand. She says they're just like the examples in the videos, but I had a notebook of all of them and I can promise they're not
This is the worst college level math class I have ever taken online. She is unorganized, slow at grading, and does not listen to students questions. If you have a question that her lectures or provided videos do not answer, she will just redirect you back to the same videos if you ask her personally. Don't take her class if you enjoy your sanity.
This is quite possibly the worst math class Ive ever taken, She assigns quizzes every week, homework takes way too long to complete, some of the questions in her assignments are some that she has never covered before in class or in the textbook, and she is slow when it comes to grading, wouldnt recommend this class to anyone
Dont take math with her. Her tests are nothing like what you go over in class. Usually, you cover similar if not the same questions in homework as you do in tests. On case studies, she finds the most random things to mark you down on. Ive been a 4.0 student since middle school, so I know that it is not my learning issue. She needs to be reviewed!
I wouldnt recommend this class to anyone. Exams and quizzes are awful, nothing like the content she gives you/ teaches. The homework takes hours upon hours to complete, and when you ask her a question, shell make you feel dumb for doing so. Just dont take this class if you enjoy your sanity.
Man do not take this teacher. She will answer every question with "well you should have read that" and that's it. The will cancel class zoom meetings last second and schedule them less than 24 hours later. 19 people were originally enrolled and on the last week 4 showed up to take the test which is in person. (Supposed to be online LOL)
If you enter this ONLINE class, you will be teaching yourself from the lectures offered with the homework (not her lectures). She doesn't teach you, the book and homework does. And then she sets up your hefty Final in person. The homework assigned doesn't correlate with the tests. Her tests are 50% of your grade. She changes meetups last minute.
- changes grade weight in the middle of assignments - takes weeks to months to grade assignments, then provides no constructive feedback - attendance on campus mandatory for ONLINE class - terrible communicator, contradictory instructions; even the syllabus has differering messaging - she is either unprepared or doesn't care to conduct this class
I would not recommend this instructor to anyone. She is very impatient when it comes to new canvas users (myself being one). She made us come in an extra time for an exam because "She didn't have enough time to cover all the material in class". The tests would have random information not covered in class. My grades suffered. Beware!!
Amazing professor. She goes outside of class and makes sure you are doing well. You are required to do a small homework and lecture before every class to make sure you understand the material. As all math classes, grade will heavily depend on you exams, so please study a week before and make sure to ask questions after class or at office hours.
Overall, material is not difficult, but organization of material is non existent, random discussion topics, exams are not used friendly, unclear what exactly needs to be studied prior to exam, takes forever to grade exams, almost two months to get our first exam back!!! As a person she's nice, but as a teacher, I would avoid her class.
Lobna sets absolutely absurd expectations for her students. We had a total of 3 exams throughout the quarter and the average score was below 65% on all 3. No curve in the class. I received the highest score on two of the exams and still barely got a 90%. Good luck!
Professor Mazzawi's class is challenging, but engaging if you put in the effort. Watching the video lectures and utilizing resources like unstuck AI are key. Exams don't match the material, but attending class helps.
Worst instructor who could ever teach. She's picky and want us to upload stapplet photos that takes me time and yet I couldn't understand it, however when the textbook show us the instructions for calculators it worked well for me so I don't see her vision for her students to be successful if she's always expecting more from us on the exam.
