Mr. P's class are taught to get you prepared for the Microsoft MOS certification exam, so they are not cake walks. You will cover comprehensively all aspects of excel. The good he helps and answers any questions you have, the bad he expects you to try long before he will answer you. His grading is not to strict, but he does not give points easy
Took online as a four-week course in Word. It was extremely difficult, and you're pretty much on your own as far as feedback or instruction went. Also, a really slow grader. That means really anxiousstressed students.
Powerpoint is a cakewalk. He provided how to videos on the assignments and was quick to respond to discussion boards.
Mr. Phillips knows his way around excel and gives you a clear list of what is required on assignments. He also made videos of himself doing part of the assignments so students could follow along and make sure they got it right. Overall, if you give it your best and do the work you will do fine. I ended up with an A in the class.
He was very fair in the grading of my assignments and provided good feedback. I made an easy A by completely my work and there was only 1 deadline to complete all the assignments. He even posted videos for each reviewcase assignment to help students complete them. I would take this class with him again if I had to.
Excellent teacher, excel is difficult but walked out with a certification as well as the class credit. Would take him again.
The class was very diffult I think because students were not doing the discussion boards, but Mr. Phillips kept updating videos so that if we did the work we could get the grade.
Super useful class, I learned a ton. Dude was pretty on task about getting me feedback and allows you to retry assignments as many times as it takes. Which is awesome, I definetly screwed up on several and was able to fix.
PowerPoint was super easy. Would suggest to anyone looking for an easy credit.
If you are prepared you can make an A-He provides additional tools.
Had Mr. Phillips when he taught at the boys home, dude is awesome. Very funny, and really into helping people. Going to take him in college once I get there.
Class is good, teacher is good. Professor P, really seems to want to help students. Just don't be stupid and let the Excel Monster get in your way.
He had a clear outline of what work needed to be done and when it was to be completed by.
Logan is a great teacher who makes learning fun. There is a lot of homework, but his goal is to make sure you are prepared for the MOS certification. He is very helpful to all of his students and goes out of his way to help everyone succeed. He is a great teacher who I highly recommend
Class was ok, work was ok.
Good class
Online side is easy enough, lecuture are long but adds in some videos and jokes.
Online work is massive. Easy stuff though.
Great class! Very helpful and gives clear directions. I wouldn't say its an "easy" A but if you do the assignments and actually take the class seriously, you shouldn't have any problems getting an A.
good teacher
He is always availble and always online. If you need help, he is really good at it and will help with anything you ask.
Very approachable teacher, but online and in person
Go to his office and meet him if you get stuck. He is way willing to listen and pretty funny with his stories. Seems to have been everywhere, and done everything.
Do not put this class off until the last minute. There is a lot and you wont finish it. I am in his four week and struggling.
Sounds like a nice guy, but I personally found his online class disorganized, information was deletedchanged around too often and items (previously required and already done) were later deleted? Will pick a different professor for any computer related classes in future. I like a better structured and organized class!
Really covers the material. HIs online class was one of the best organized and presented I have taken, will take again.
Powerpoint is a cakewalk, take it if you need a GPA booster.
He really goes all out on his videos, answers emails and questions really quickly and allows you to come in his office and work on his spare computer if you need face to face time. Great teacher and seems like he really wants his students to learn excel. The open deadline can be confusing at times though.
Best online class I've taken to date. Very interactive, very helpful. If you do the work, you'll do great in the class.
Took the 8 week Summer version of the class. There is a lot of homework (online), but very doable. Professor Phillips is very hands-on, despite being an online class. If you needed help, he was there with a YouTube video, a tutorial or anything else you may have needed. I would definitely take one of his classes again.
Good class for taking online. Only one due date. Just don't wait til the last minute. Some of the sims he uses have glitches, making it difficult to finish or get correct answers recorded. Professor answers questions with videos. ?? Had a question and didn't hear back from him for 4 days. .......
Took Professor P online. It's a SIMnet class and some of the tests required you follow an exact sequence which it goes over with you in the pretestspractice. Once you figure this out the tests are cake. He has helpful videos and notes. Most accessible online teacher I have ever had, you can call or email and he will get back to you next day.
Easy class if you do the work, but it can be repetitive. The glitches in SimNet are frustrating at times, as is the limited functionality.
Great teacher, really goes above and beyond for his students and to teach the material.
I loved taking professor P's class. It was very enjoyable and easy as long as you went to the lectures. He is very good at helping students if they need it. He also answers emails fast! I would definitely take his class again.
This class was pretty easy, because the tests have each of the PowerPoint simulations with the directions telling me what to do in it. Plus, the projects and the simbook assignments on the simnet website are easy too.
Great teacher, very inspiring for someone going into the Computer field. Absolutely loved the Theory portion of the class, it was very informative of everything happening today and was very interesting. The second portion of the class was mundane but expected for being an introductory class for those who are learning the absolute basics.
ONLINE! Uses simNET & you decide your grade. Do the Syllabus Quiz! If you take (you don't have to pass it) the Certification exam for PowerPoint 2013 he'll give you full credit for the Final! A total of 32 (if you include the final/Cert. exam) assignments (Not all are required)! He's nice & emails back with in a respectable time. I recommend him!
He was easy to reach, willing to help, and always told a joke. His class was all work, but he didn't make it more difficult than it needed to be. He made weekly videos to guide us and even kept in touch when he went out of the country. Great professor and I'd recommend him to anyone.
Fantastic teacher, took the 4 week online excel. Tough but really open content. Was able to finish everything easily enough.
He lectures, but they are good. Would be a great class for those interested in computers and computer future stuff. Showed us a lot of stuff that is coming out in the future, which blows your mind.
Professor P is awesome! He's very helpful and always responds. Just make sure all your assignments are finished before the last day of class. Easy class. He communicates with students via video weekly.
professor p is a great teacher and he helps you in anyway he can highly recamend him for your teacher he gets you ready if you are going to do any kind of this kind of work in your career
Straightforward. You knew what was expected and you had ample time to get it done. The class was a breeze.
Professor Phillips was great and really cared about his students and work. Easy going and very responsive. Took the 8 week online PowerPoint class using SimPath. The work was easy and you have all semester to get the work done. After taking this class I will be taking him for excel as well.
This was an online class but he was available to you like you were right in the class with him. You learn a lot with how he structured the material you will use on SimNet. He is interactive on Blackboard with you through video which I loved! He is also very interested in your success after the class is over!
Great Teacher. I would recommend his online classes. Beware, stay on the pacing schedule he provides.
Cool class, I learned quite a bit. However, it was an online class so pacing is very important and the instructor does a good job at stressing that.
His online class is really well developed. He goes out of his way to be accessible to his students at all times. There was a lot of work, but easily accomplished. You must follow the pacing schedule otherwise it will become overwhelming.
keep up with the schedule and you will do fine
He helped me build a computer on his own time He even sat with me while we went to my adviser so I could figure out what to take nex tJust a good guy and great teacher. The material is online, and there were some problems, but he was willing to fix them and always made it right for us Would highly recommend.
Outstanding professor! This was the first fast track class I've taken since 2006 and I have to say that I loved the class! I highly recommend this class for any adult learner.
Super entertaining! he loves what he is teaching, so It never got boring. not the easiest but it is totally worth it. You get what you deerve in the course.
I really enjoyed taking this class because I will utilize all of the concepts in my everyday work life. If you take this as an 8 week class, be sure to stay on top of your assignments, or it could get away from you. Professor P was always very helpful, he's a great teacher.
This has been an awesome class with an awesome professor! He uses the website for your assignments, all tests are online, and his lectures are about computer technology, which you do not test on. Make sure you use the pacing schedule or you will be rushing at semester end. He replies quickly to emails and was fantastic at teaching.
This class is straight to the point.
Professor P. really goes out of his way to make you feel attention. Lots of email contacts, quick to respond with help. Always happy. He was a great teacher.
Professor P was a fun professor. I took his Concepts course and you only have one due date but have to follow a pacing schedule in order to stay on track with the assignments. I enjoyed that because it was definitely self-paced. Very easy class to pass. The work was time consuming but extremely easy. Highly recommend.
Best professor at TCC!!
Logan is AMAZING! Hands down the best professors I've ever had. He cares about the topic and you! He makes it interesting and learning possible. Everything is laid out for you and its just a matter of a little bit of studying!
The tests can be difficult, but if you study you should get a decent grade. He is very energetic and tries to keep the energy going even if the lecture material is kind of boring. He tries his best to keep the students interested and is very clear on assignments and due dates.
Hands down best professor ive taken at tcc . Very patient and will do whatever it takes to help you understand. Has high expectations for his classes but is very lenient and understanding on deadlines(one deadline). Highly recommend for any course you can get with him, head and shoulders above most of what I have taken
Great professor, very helpful in class and office hours. Always willing to help and can make difficult concepts seem easy. Workload is quite heavy and the homework is almost needlessly hard, but if you keep up with it and study the tests will seem pretty easy in comparison.
i loved this class its not for everying but i was definitely a fan! He showed the information in super interesting ways
Logan is a really nice man, and follows a very clear outline for his class. He is really interested in students learning and his lectures are interesting. Helps if you like history or technology Take him if you need computer concepts
Great tacher, wonderful class discussions and very helpful. One of hte best professors in the department. His classes are tough but worth it, you will learn a whole lot. (Unless you are lazy)
Hilarious professor! The lectures are not really tested but more just for information. Easy to pass if you do the work. Some of the work on simnet is repetitive and you cannot just read a book to pass. but Logan is a good teacher
Great professor, had to drop the class but he was cool about the whole thing. Good dude.
Best online class I have ever taken! Would definitely recommend taking Mr. Phillips. The course lay out was the best I have seen.
Responds to emails and wants to see his students succeed. Took the 4 week online class, so it was a lot of work, but he was really understanding if you got behind and would really help you out.
Good class. Definitely suggest following the pacing schedule to a T. Logan was fast to respond and always helped when I needed it. Would recommend.
Professor P is very helpful when you need it. Gives multiple attempts when needed. Great sense of humor, overall great vibe in his class.. Engages with the students and you won't ever feel left out. Very understanding that life happens so he won't penalize you for a no show. I would definitely take one of his classes again.
Great online class, pacing schedule and syllabus very clear. Beware even though you have until the last Tuesday of the semester to submit all assignments you will want to stay close to following the pacing schedule especially if you don't work in excel outside of class much. Responds well to needs you have with the program and provides resources.
The class itself is not hard, but do not take the 4 week class if you are taking another class or work full-time. There is a ton of homework to complete. I spent about 2 hours each night 5-6 nights per week to complete homework. Great for an 8 week class, though! Work at your own pace which is great! Just 1 due date which is last day of class.
Do NOT take the 4 week course! TONS of work. I work full time plus 12 hours and during this 4 weeks my other weeks suffered from the amount of time a 4 week course like this took. He does give PLENTY of reference material via notes and You Tube videos he makes.
For an online class it was hard to keep up with all of the work that was being posted. The learning is all on you as the student. So if you do not like self teaching and learning then I do not recommend taking this specific online class
Great class and great professor, highly recommend for anyone. Logan provided video walkthrough of assignments, answered my questions immedialty and provided me with step by step instructions when i got stuck. Class was fantastic
I had a great time in his class.
He cares about his students and wants them to pass. This was an online course through Simnet so he didnt make the assignments. All assignments are due at end of semester which is really nice but hard to keep motivated at times. Easy class just takes time. No reason you shouldnt get an A.
Professor P. is a solid choice for a computer class. There is almost information overload at the beginning of the semester, but he explains EVERYTHING that is on the syllabus and in the assignment software. The only problem was lack of communication. I didn't receive any emails that others received throughout the course. Good professor otherwise.
Okay I am not being over dramatic I promise! I have only ever written 1 bad review before this guy in 3 years. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU ASK FREQUENT QUESTIONS. He only responds to emails at the end of the week, if you're lucky. Simnet is extremely sensitive and glitches so taking tests and doing assignments can be bogus.
He does not work with his students. I took him in the spring and ended up having to undergo a serious surgery, but he refused to answer my emails and I was forced to drop as I fell behind. When I took him again in the Fall, I went 7 consecutive days without logging in on week 3 and he dropped me without warning. He needs to learn how to communicate
Do not take Professor P if you are a "schedule" person. There are no due dates given on the pacing schedule. You have until the end of the semester to do all of the work, but you must create your own schedule to stay on task. I found SIMnet to be very confusing and hard to understand it was also very sensitive making grading harsh at times.
One of the best professors out there. I contacted him at the end of the semester about the final and he told me I really didn't need to take it considering my grade to get an A. He wants you to succeed! Contact him if you need any help at all and he is truly happy to help. I would take him again!
Everything is laid out and easy to get to. Seriously over the top with information and help. Cannot go wrong with this guy.
Great class, easy to follow along with. Multiple attempts on all the assignments and everything is up to you. Easy to pass, if you just do the work.
In his videos he comes across nice, available and helpful. But when is time for him TO WORK /TEACHING be ready to get an e-mail from him 4-7 days later. You're COMPLETY ON YOUR OWN. He is not reliable and that's not fear. PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU ARE A PERSON THAT NEEDS HELP AND HAS QUESTIONS BECAUSE HE WILL NOT!! BE THERE!
Professor "P" prefers to be contacted via email but takes at least a week to 2 weeks to reply. He is NOT user-friendly and not helpful at all.
If you are just getting by on what you may have learned from others through the years, take this course so that you'll have a true foundation in computer system applications.
I would encourage anyone wanting to learn more about computers and these programs to take this course.
Logan was truly dedicated to our success. I hate excelbut he made sure we had everything we needed to do our very best. I truly believe that I made the grade I did because of his dedication. This class was incredibly difficult, but a good grade was achievable. I would recommend Logan to anyone.
Professor Logan is amazing! He is very knowledgeable and cares a lot about what he teaches. You can tell hehas a passion for it
Mr Phillips was the most relaxed professor I've had in college. We had a lot of assignments but he grades easy and gives us plenty of time to turn them in. The simpaths and projects were challenging but your grade didn't depend on it.
Amazing professor. Great lectures. Only half of the material covered in lectures is actually relevant for homework, exams, and labs. Follow the pacing schedule and you should be good.
Professor P. is one of the best professors at TCC. His classes are hard by nature, but he is always willing to help in his office or by email. You will have to work for your grade, but he makes you want to work for it. 100% recommend. He also keeps lectures interesting.
By far one of the best teachers I've had, college or high school. He works really hard for his students. Be prepared to work for it, but he makes you want to work for it. Funny and interesting stories. "Hard work beats talent that fails to work hard."
I took one of his class this semester and loved it. He is such an amazing professor. You can really tell that he is extremely passionate about this. He makes his lectures fun. He is by far my favorite professor. I'd take him for the rest of my college classes if I could!
Took his class online over the summer. Super great teacher! Responds to emails fast, gives great feedback, and really tried to make sure we got the most we could out of this class
Honestly, the best professor I've had so far at TCC. He makes the lectures so easy to follow. I love how he gave us practice exams before the real exams. He is an amazing teacher!!!!
Such a sweet professor who genuinely wants to help his students. The best it professor available!!
class was challenging. He always provided assistance and feedback in class. He was also willing to meet outside of class and was very responsive to emails. The grade I received (B) was fair and I would have loved an A, but there were areas I needed to improve upon and he did help me to achieve that. I would take more classes with him.
Guy really goes to town on the course, everything is available day 1. Work at your own pace, and lots of opportunities. It is pretty big workload but you would have to be an idiot not to pass this course. He literally gives you step by step walkthrough breakdowns of the assignments, to make sure you get an A. Great teacher, and will take again.
Asked questions when stuck and he live streamed himself to me, and walked me through each piece giving me an individual one on one lesson. Never have i ever had a professor be so willing to work me through a problem. Take his class, you will be impressed.
Good class, homework is doable.
Easy A, if you just stay on top of the work. Puts out all the stuff on day 1. Work through it, can be slow on email but is very thourough in helping.
Everything is put out on day 1 and due at the end of the semester. Everything is done through SIMNET with four folders Access, Excel, Word, and Powerpoint. Each folder comes with 3 tests, 3 independent projects(don't let this intimidate you they are basically just like the guided ones, 3 guided projects and a final exam
Professor Phillips was a great instructor. He explained everything and got back to me pretty fats if I had and question. He made the assignments easy to understand so I could finish this class strong.
The online text book is easy to use, you get lots of chances to redo your work for better grades. However if you need help on anything, don't expect it from the professor. I had one zoom meeting at the beginning of the semester, then after that he didn't really respond to my emails for help and I had to ask a professor from another class for help.
Took the 16 week online course. This class is fairly easy and you can work as far ahead as you want. It's recommended to work ahead, definitely a self paced course. Don't fall behind and you'll do great. However he does answer emails at weird times and may take a day or two. Assignments are easy and multiple attempts are allowed. Overall good class
Great professor, great class.
I took this class for a computer class. He answers e-mails quick & is understandable. Lots of work! There are quizzes for each chapter and exams for each module and additional projects. It is a lot of work, but it is not hard work. As long as you are organized & complete the assignments, it is an easy A! I received a B because I missed assignments.
his Microsoft Office class to be self guided. Keep track of your assignments, but you can work ahead if you want. No book, but all coursework done through Simnet Easy class for a self-regulated student and good for resume.
Took online class. Clear grading and assignment information. Class is self paced. Exams can be retaken. All work online as well as exams and finals. Teacher always emailed right back when i had a question. Relatively easy class on the Microsoft side if you use computers often. The other 12 did take some reading. Easy modules to follow.
Instruction were easy to follow, plus instructor always responded with 24hrs. Course quality was excellent. I knew where I stood at all times. Highly recommend this course and instructor.
I took his 8 week online Computer Concepts class. All of the assignments were loaded before classes even began and we only had one due date which was at the end of the 8 weeks. There were 13 "tests". They were more like pop quizzes and took maybe 10 minutes. Very easy class I would totally take another class from him.
This class was fairly easy, but somewhat compilcated. Completing the work was easy. However, I faced compilcations with the software due to using a Mac. If you use a PC there would probably not have any problems. If you have a Mac be careful, and ask questions if you face issues. Overall, the class along with the professor were very hepful.
I took the 8 week on-line class. Was very easy to follow and interact with the instructor. Graded assignments quickly. Highly recommend.
Professor P is very clear in his directions and always made himself available if needed. Take your time, do not rush, double check your work as Professor P is generous with due dates. The course is laid out for you with everything you will need to succeed and if you put effort into the class/assignments the grades will take care of themselves.
Amazing teacher! Took computer concepts online and could not have asked for a better teacher. Made everything crystal clear and responded very quickly if I had trouble with any assignment. Would definitely take hiim again if I had to. I learned quite a lot, too
This professor is caring and knowledgeable. You will enjoy this class.
Work ahead it's worth it, it's so easy. Don't just do one assignment a week, cramming the last week is not the move assignments are time consuming but easy.
Professor Phillips gives you complete course layout from first day of class to be successful. Great course, educational for those not super familiar with Microsoft programs.
I have had Professor P for Computer and Systems, Word, and Excel over the last three semesters. Each class I have ended with an A+. He uses Simnet for assignments and while it is time-consuming work I was able to finish the classes within like 4 full days to a week of working on them. All assignments are given upfront and easy to understand
Great professor. A lots of assignments but if you stay on top of assignments and you will do fine.
Professor P lays out his expectations, instructions, and requirements at the beginning of the semester. This is a completely self paced online class. However, he is readily available via email to assist you at any point during the semester. I recommend professor P! Great professor.
Professor Phillips does convey material and assignments clearly and is overall a good teacher.
The professor is chill but this class is the worst. I took it in a 4 week period, there is a lot of work, and the way the program grades is infuriating. The best advice I can give is to TAKE YOUR TIME and you should be fine.
This professor's course was pretty fun. A breakdown of the class: There are modules to complete, each with final set due dates. These modules contain some mini projects (individual work), and some chapter tests, along with a final exam over each module. Everything has multiple attempts, so you can fix your mistakes. Overall, 10/10 class.
I had no problems with this course. I took it for a semester, which was pretty chill. You just have to make sure to complete something every week for your attendance. Set due dates are set up for each module that you'd have to complete, but nothing too difficult.
If you need to take this class take this professor material was great and professor was great
I really don't understand how he has a perfect 5 rating. The class was so, so easy if you have any knowledge of Microsoft Office, but he was not a good teacher. He never kept in contact with us. He never released a pacing schedule like he said he would even after students reached out to him asking him to do it. More of a supervisor than a teacher.
He rarely responded to my emails when I had questions about projects or concerns about my grades and took weeks to grade assignments. This course is all excel projects. If you don't have solid experience with excel, take this in person or the 16-week course. The textbook is useless, you teach yourself the content for this course through YT videos.
Professor Phillips is an absolute gem! Not only is he extremely knowledgeable in his field, but he is also a fantastic teacher. His lectures are always engaging and he is always willing to help students who are struggling. I would highly recommend taking a class with him if you have the opportunity.
"Professor is an amazing professor! He is so passionate about his subject and it really shows in his teaching. He is always willing to go above and beyond to help his students succeed, and he is always available for office hours. I have learned so much in his class and I am so grateful to have had the chance to study with him."
"Professor P is the best! He's always ready with a joke or a funny story to keep things light in class. Plus, he's so smart he could probably teach a class on being funny. Highly recommend taking a class with him if you want to laugh and learn at the same time.
"Professor P is a total blast! His lectures are always filled with jokes and he's got a great sense of humor. I never thought I'd look forward to going to a class, but with Professor P it's always a highlight of my day. Highly recommend taking a class with him if you want to have fun while still learning."
"Professor P is an incredible professor who is always willing to go the extra mile to help his students succeed. His lectures are engaging and he has a wealth of knowledge in his field. I would highly recommend taking a class with him if you have the opportunity."
"Professor P is an amazing professor who truly cares about his students. He is always available for office hours and is always willing to help us understand the material. I have learned so much in his class and I am grateful to have had the chance to study with him."
"Professor P is a good teacher who is knowledgeable in his field. His lectures can be a bit dry at times, but he is always willing to help students who are struggling. Overall, I would recommend taking a class with him."
"Professor P is a good teacher who knows his subject well. His lectures can be a bit dull at times, but he is always willing to help students who need extra assistance. Overall, I would recommend taking a class with him."
"Professor P is a riot! I wasn't expecting to have so much fun in a class, but he's managed to make every lecture enjoyable. Plus, he's super smart and a great teacher. Highly recommend taking a class with him if you want to have a good time while still getting a good education.
"Professor P is a good teacher who knows his subject well. However, his lectures can be a bit unengaging at times. On the plus side, he is always willing to help students who are struggling and he has office hours available. Overall, I would recommend taking a class with him.
"Professor P is a decent teacher who knows his stuff.
"Professor P is an excellent professor who is always quick to respond to emails. He is very helpful and always willing to answer any questions I have. I would highly recommend taking a class with him
I may not be doing well in the class, but it is definitely not because of any fault of Professor P's. He is a fantastic professor and I would highly recommend taking a class with him.
Professor Phillips wrote his own textbook for this class, and it didn't cover much of the material that was on tests and was difficult to follow due to poor grammar and a rambling style. There is a ton of work, and you need to be prepared to be incredibly frustrated when you take his tests because the questions are poorly written.
He uses a pass/fail style grading, basically I just did the work and on the LAST DAY he submitted all the grades and I had a 100%. Extremely hard to understand excel when the instructions were incorrect numerous times. He would respond to emails 2 weeks after assignment at question was due. Class was so unorganized and I didn't learn anything.
I dropped his class because he opens his online class each week from Monday at 8am to Friday at 5pm. If you have a normal job or kids and need to do homework on the weekends like I do then run!
He took weeks to respond to the emails when he responded at all. Responses to questions never answered what was asked. There was barely any feedback on assignments which were graded only twice in the semester. I rated difficulty as 5 not because he graded tough but because he made it a pain to even know what the assignment was asking you to do.
good class good professor
class was difficult but easily laid out easy to navigate and as long as you did the work you passed
Dude is tough, no flexibility. He has laid out what the assignemtns are and just expects you to either achieve or not. Not overly friendly, not easily emotionally manipulated. Some students tried and failed. No room for nonesense at all. Class was good though, he was a good teacher just with clear cut expectations.
Read the other review and he didn't write his own bok. Uses Mcgraw hill. His assignments open on day 1, allowing you to work ahead. He doesn't work weekends or nights, and doesn't answer questions that have already been answered. The other students in my class need to grow up. Good class, tough professor its what I thought college was going to be
Online class, lots of information put up at the front. He has high expectations of what will be done in his class. Seems a little grumpy, but if you need help also was willing to do anything he could when I asked for help. Very very direct in his communication. Ask and you are given a response, no fluff.
You will work in his class. Lots of it, it is repetitive, but by the end you will fully understand everything. Not hard material, just a lot of it. He has set rules and he sticks by them, doesn't answer emails or do anything after hours or weekends. DOesn't take phone calls, everything has to be scheduled. Grades at set times weekly, was different
Lots of work, everything laid out in a line. Dry and direct. Good class good professor
Nobody showed up to the class, since its a work lab thing, guy didn't care at all. We just sat and talked about future technology and he helped me complete the material and told stories. Still had to do the work, but super chill
Good class, good teacher. No complaints, other than repetitive.
He takes WEEKS to grade papers, which is the only thing he hand-grades in this class. The papers are repetitive. His feedback for the essays is contradictory to his instructions and even his previous feedback. He gives a C for average work and you only get an a if you're outstanding. I currently have an A, but the grading style is ridiculous.
I'll just let his syllabus do the talking, "Just because you tried your best, does not give you a passing grade. A normal/average student, completing average/normal work will receive a C in this module. Above average work is a B in this module, and extraordinary work is an A in this module."
Professor Logan Phillips is an exceptional educator who brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to every lecture. Their ability to simplify complex concepts and encourage engaging discussions has significantly enhanced my understanding of the subject. I feel more confident and prepared for my future career thanks to their guidance.
Heard a lot about Professor Phillips before class started, and guess what? The hype is legit. They're not just about textbooks and exams; it's like they really want us to get what we're learning.
Walked into Phillips's class thinking it'd be another snooze fest. Nope. I was actually into it. They have this way of explaining things where you're like, 'Oh, that makes sense.' And suddenly, you're learning without even trying
Professor Phillips's class is a challenging but rewarding experience. Their straightforward teaching style and high expectations push you to learn, and the free textbook is a great resource. unstuck AI and study sessions helped me ace this course.
grades students on "timeliness of assignments turned in" when he gives zero tolerance for late work. Beware of the blackboard due dates because he did not bother to make them correct date.. again no tolerance for late work when you have the wrong due date posted it is an automatic 0 no exception.
I walked into Professor P's class expecting to learn Excel, and walked out with a deeper understanding of 14th-century Mongolian history. How does this man have so much knowledge about EVERYTHING? Excel skills: 10/10. Mongolian history skills: also 10/10.
Every time I got an answer wrong, Professor P handed me a bag of gummy bears and told me to 'make peace with my errors.'
Professor P starts every class by singing a different 80s power ballad while wearing a sequined blazer. I don't know how this relates to Excel, He hits those high notes like no one else!
One time, Professor P told us we were going to create a spreadsheet, but then he whipped out a live chicken and taught us about supply chain management using only chicken feed and a mysterious pie chart tattoo on his arm. Life-changing experience.
He challenged me to an arm-wrestling match to determine if I'd get extra credit. I lost, but he did not give me the points anyway and said, 'Sometimes life's a VLOOKUP.' I don't know what that means
feel unsafe in pivot tables.
His teaching assistant is a parrot named Cell-Fie that screams Excel formulas. I thought it was a joke at first, but now I can't get the sound of 'SUMIF' screeched at 100 decibels out of my head.
Professor P claimed to be the ‘King of Spreadsheets' and arrived to class wearing a crown made of USB drives. He knighted me with a laser pointer when I finally mastered nested IF statements. I wept tears of joy.
Every class started with Professor P standing on the desk shouting, ‘Are you ready to EXCEL?!' while fog machines went off. He then did a backflip and somehow landed in the middle of a perfect data validation example.
For extra credit, Professor P challenged us to build a fully functional Excel-powered robot. When mine malfunctioned and tried to take over the class, he calmly said, ‘Ah, a classic circular reference,' and shut it down with a CTRL+Z.
"Professor P's teaching style is a blend of structured fluidity and dynamic equilibrium, perfectly balancing the pivot of spreadsheets with the axis of understanding. Truly transformative.
The way Professor P integrates macro-level synergies with micro-data integrity is unparalleled. Every cell feels like an ecosystem thriving in harmonious modularity.
ofessor P emphasizes the fractal nature of learning in Excel, where every formula echoes the holistic cadence of a broader computational tapestry. A masterpiece of pedagogy.
Professor P knows the TRUTH about Excel and its connection to ancient alien civilizations. He said VLOOKUP wasn't invented by humans, and now I can't sleep because every spreadsheet I open feels like a portal to another dimension
He kept saying something about the Illuminati hiding secrets in Excel macros. I ran a formula he suggested, and now my printer won't stop printing pictures of triangles
I saw Professor P typing a formula backward. When I asked him about it, he said, ‘You're not ready for the TRUTH behind SUMPRODUCT.'
Professor P is the Excel Messiah. The man whispered 'Ctrl+Shift+Enter' during a lecture, and suddenly the lights flickered, my smartwatch reset, and a crow flew into the window. I KNOW he's channeling energy from a celestial data grid.
Transcript from class: Me: "Professor P, why does my SUMIF formula keep returning errors?" Him: "That's because you haven't aligned your frequency with the quantum rows." Me: "Quantum rows?" Him (whispering): "You'll see soon." WHO IS THIS MAN?!?!
Professor P blinked in binary code during a lecture. I SWEAR TO YOU. I translated it, and it spelled 'D-O-N-T-T-R-U-S-T-V-L-O-O-K-U-P.' He's trying to warn us, but about what???
Professor P told us time doesn't exist, and then he made the clock on the wall melt. He said, 'This is why homework is due whenever the universe decides,' and walked out of class backwards. I don't know what I'm learning, but I'm afraid to leave
He said birds aren't real and that the government installed cameras in every pigeon. Then he started throwing crackers out the window, yelling, 'Show yourselves!' By the end of class, a crow was sitting on his shoulder.
He refuses to sit on chairs, claiming they're a 'trap for the soul.' Instead, he hovered three inches above the ground for the entire lecture while eating grapes one at a time. I don't even know what class this is supposed to be
One day, he came in riding a unicycle, wearing scuba gear, and declared, 'I've solved it!' He wouldn't tell us what 'it' was, but he spent the next two hours making balloon animals and humming the Star Wars theme song
Professor P said the moon is a hologram and dared us to prove him wrong. When I mentioned tides, he pulled out a jar of pickles and said, 'Explain THIS!' I couldn't, and now I'm questioning everything.
He claims he communicates with dolphins telepathically and that they've been warning him about impending doom. He told us to wear purple on Wednesdays because it 'neutralizes the vibrations.'
Professor P once brought in a jar of bees and said they were his 'classroom assistants.' When the bees escaped, he just laughed and said, 'The hive decides who passes
he come in class with the big hat, say ‘Mamma mia, the stars no align today!' Then he throw pasta at board and yell, ‘La lasagna è il futuro!' I no understand but he clap molto forte."
awful awful
Awesome Awesome
Very easy class; instructor is very helpful.
Please beware of this 8-week course if you have a full-time job. The class is a ton of busy work and lectures that can take up to 8-10+ hours each week. I had to withdraw after a few weeks because this course was monopolizing all of the extra time I had to dedicate to homework.
Be AWARE: The class has work and lectures that can take up to 8-10+ hours each week. Which is the expected work load for a fast paced 8 week course. A normal 16 week course will take an average student 96 hours to complete. Which would be 6 hours per week. In a FAST paced course. that would mean you are spending 12 hours per week, or 96 hours.
Worst professor I have ever taken and this is my last semester in college with a high GPA. He does not lecture, all is homework basically you teach yourself what you can and he says he does not work Friday or weekends or after 4 Monday trough Thursday so he won't answer any emails. All this crazy reviews are probably him trying to clear real ones.
