I like him. his exams are hard & lecturs are sometimes confusing, but he is a great teacher. He'll break anything down for you. and gives curves on the tests. if you like science, take him!
he would jump form one subject to another, test are based on lectures not on the book, i would read the whole chapter and study very hard but what the whole class studied was not even on the exam, part of it was an assay on a subject, he also gave lab tests
He is a good professor. Be sure to attend every lecture and keep track of your notes. Along with the notes make sure you read the chapter because he puts some of them on the tests. You will get good grade in his class once you know his pattern.
This is a great professor. Keep up with the lectures and know what's going on and you should get an A+. He gives alot of curves on tests and there are essay questions which makes it easy to get extra credit. You work for your A, but it's well worth it!
He is a good teacher. At first it might be a little hard to understand his lectures, but he always gives us a review for each test telling us exactly what we need to know, which make it really easy to get an A or B. I liked his random "fun facts" they were interesting and you could tell he was well informed.Keep good notes, study his reviews = easy A
Great Professor and a great guy all around! I wish he taught more classes :) He is very interesting to listen to and his lab practicals are so easy. Great sense of humor
Great Professor. Goes above and beyond to help. Very high level of knowledge and acts like he cares that you do well in his class.
Great professor! His study guides are helpful as well as the lab study guides. I was not that interested in biology but he has great lectures that helped me understand the concepts.I'm pretty sure I am getting an A in this class.Just read the textbook and listen during his lectures.
Professor Randolph was very interested in his students passing his class. He was more than fair & if you did not do well it would be the fact that you chose not to. Professor Randolph is excellent. The class applauded him when he came in to administer our final exam!
Great teacher. Wants you to do well and pass. Good sense of humor. Take lots of notes and listen to him during class. Lab exams were pretty straightforward. Dr. Randolph knows what he's talking about and is always happy to answer questions. Even helped me get a job in an interesting field!
He's great! Very interesting class. must pay attention to lectures & must read textbook. He explains everything clearly. He can tutor you extra hours if needed. very helpful. He knows what he's talking about.
I took this professor over the summer (2010), and I enjoyed his tutelage. His lectures are informative, he tosses in some relevant anecdotes to liven up the class, the labs are simple, and the tests are only hard if you don?t review ahead of time. My only regret is that I took him for 6 weeks instead of 4 months. Get him while you can!
Very good professor. Makes class interesting. not that hard on grading. Tests arent bad. he tests off his lectures so make sure to go to class! would take his class again!
Didn't know I had interest in Bio until his class, he made it so interesting He has a great sense of humor. Labs are fun and easy. Don't miss class, Record lectures, tests based on them, exams are scantron & 2 questions worth 20pts ea he uses pal assignments to pick them Definitely recommend him. Worth traveling to Winterhaven from Lkld (45min4me)
Great professor! Makes the class interesting and fulfilling so students stay interested in his lectures. Incredibly smart and experienced, making him extremely helpful. He is fair on exams and papers. You would be silly not to take his classes!!
I took Randolph for Bio 1 and 2 and I loved him! He is very helpful, and I like his teaching style. You can tell he has a true passion for what he teaches. If you are going into any Science related field (not just needing a lab class for the heck of it) he is the teacher for you. If you study and know your stuff for the test, you'll be fine.
He was an extremely helpful teacher and really shows a passion for the subject he teaches. At times this class can get confusing, but overall I learned a lot and had a bit of fun while doing it.
He is an interesting teacher. A little out there but you can tell he loves the subject greatly. He told our class one time we were all going to h*ll...but if you show up to lecture & not miss any labs you'll be good. Everything he writes on the board will be on the test. And don't forget to do the pal assignments!
Knows his material, but a little bit unorganized and doesn't give grades back quickly. Other than that I enjoyed the class and if you study then you'll get an A.
Teacher is a bit unorganized. Lectures are a bit scattered - information wise. Tests were ok if you read the book ahead of time and studied. Ended up getting a B in the course.
Dr. Randolph is immensely helpful. I have taken him thrice and love his teaching style. He goes to great lengths to elaborate on the material. His tests are half scan-tron and half essay. Don't fret about the essay though, you choose from a list of essays on the big topics of the section. If you know anything about the chapter you should do fine.
Favorite teacher so far. Keeps lectures interesting and to the point. Write down everything you see on the board, if he says something twice it will definitely be on the test. Tests consist of multiple choice, true or false, and a variety choice of essay topics. Very funny, passionate, and I highly recommend him!
This professor's tests are VERY tough, even if you study. He has missed 4 lectures so far (health issues) and he does not send out warning emails. You show up to class, but theres a sign on the door saying its cancelled, but DONT walk away cause there will most likely be a sign in sheet somewhere. He is also going to miss a week for travel :
Tests come directly from lecture(RECORD THEM). As long as you listen and understand, you'll perform well in the class. For studying I played over the lecture twice and re-took notes. This is a biology course so memorization of certain material is a must. He usually has 10 MC extra credit problems on his test and short-answer questions. Easy A!
Randolph is a great professor, he may have hard tests but if you study long enough you'll do fine. Using Youtube videos to understand the biological processes is really helpful, even though his explanations are pretty easy to understand. He seems like a nice guy who genuinely like biology and I'm looking forward to taking more classes from him.
Randolph is a good professor. His tests are based on his lectures so taking notes is essential to passing his class. The tests can be dificult, but if you put in the time to study you will pass. Watching videos on youtube about biology really helped pass his class and understand what he already went over.
This professor is amazing and very understanding. He is very intelligent. He is very flexible. He is extremely nice. His exams are from strictly from his lectures. So pay attention and take notes during his lecture. Not bad of a class, but you definitely have to study really hard and put the time because Biology is not an easy subject.
Do not take him online. Makes constant excuses for grading papers due to traveling etc. Due dates for assignments are not very clear.
Dr. Randolph is a good professor IF you are a biology major in any way. If you don't want to major in biology or have no interest in biology, this class will kick your butt BUT if you enjoy biology or want to major in it, you will be forever grateful for this professor.
If you like online classes and don't mind homework, take Randolph. This class was a fast-track online and had homework due all the time. NO LATE WORK WITHOUT EXCUSE. But if you DO the work, and do it right, you'll get a 100. Pretty much just get the words on paper without grammar errors and that 100 is yours. TAKE THIS CLASS!!! Easy A!
Not sure that he grades the work as I got a 100% on everything submitted. No tests, no book. Great class!
He's pretty good as long as you pay attention to lectures. As long as you do the homework you should be fine.
He's pretty good as long as you pay attention to lectures. As long as you do the homework you should be fine. the stuff he posts on pal to review is a serious help
Stay longer in the class and you'll realize how great a professor he is. Find friends quickly to ask them any questions you have. I learned more from him than anyone. Depending on your study type, you may or may not utilize your book. 90% of his lecture tests' material is in them but if you are a good test taker, you don't need to open it much.
Probably one of the worst professors I have ever had. He seems to not like answering questions and makes the students seem like they're dumb. Tests are difficult. His lectures are very long, record them!!
The teacher bombards you with assignments. As long as you do them, you'll get a decent grade (I have almost a perfect 100), but there is a TON to do every week. Posts to classmates are FIVE responses each post X3 weekly posts, so a total of 15 responses. There are larger projects that take time outside of the classroom to complete. LOTS OF WORK!
Prof. Randolph takes pride in assigning endless work combined with a multitude of tests that cover between 4-6 chapters, not to mention that you have to memorize the labs for weekly testing on them as well. For finals week, he has 2 lab tests, a 5 chapter book test, the comprehensive final test, 2 homework assignments and a paper due.
He gave a zero on a paper that I worked hard on because I didn't answer one of the many questions he asked.
He definitely knows a lot about biology but I would not suggest taking him unless you plan on being a biology major.
Great professor, class content was easy to understand for the most part. Dr. Randolph provides an actual college level education with the class. Great course.
Professor Randolph gives A LOT of work and discussion posts. But, he is also a fair grader and gives great feedback. If you don't mind doing the work, you can easily get an "A"!
Professor Randolph knows Biology! He may be a hard teacher, but if you go to class you will learn the material needed to pass. He is really funny, and often times he incorporates jokes into lectures. During STR's he mentioned "Who's yo baby daddy", and it is stuff like that that can change your mood. Take this professor, but be prepared to work.
This man is the best Professor at Polk! His class is tough, but hard work is necessary in most science classes. He makes biology relatable to actual life, he is very funny and he really knows biology. He is an expert! I would recommend him to anyone. He really made me look at biology in a new way. His tests questions are based off of his lectures
Hes a great teacher as long as you show up to class. He assigns a good amount of work but as long as you do all of the assignments you should pass the class with ease. I would recommend only taking him if you are a Biology major though.
Pay attention to his lectures, read the text book, take notes from the textbook and the lectures, and do any assignments he assigns. I am not a big fan of science/ biology and this class was boring to me, but I tried to learn the material and did okay.
LOVE THIS MAN! His class is not easy and you have to work hard, but for anyone passionate in BIO it is definitely the right course. His lectures were interesting to me and his tests came straight from the quizzes. Take this class with a friend so you guys could share quiz questions and ace the tests. Quick grader too! I learned a lot from him.
This was his first semester teaching Anthropology and it was super easy. I passed with a 99. His tests come from the quizzes which come from the companion website and book. I wasn't very interested in this class, but I enjoyed the professor and you could tell he was passionate about Anthropology. Find a friend for this class! He is an easy grader!
I've taken Dr. Randolph 3 times and love him! He makes you work for a good grade but is very fair. The tests can be challenging but are straight from the quizzes and lectures and he will elaborate on anything you need. He lightens lecture with jokes and relate able stories to the topic. He has worked in the field and knows what he's talking about.
Very understanding professor, he was absolutely amazing and helpful. Make study groups to study for the tests and lab is fun but you'll be working in groups. Pay attention to your lab results.
In class assignments and one group project were we had to present in front of the class. Quiz questions are on the test, so take all the quiz attempts. Use the study guides, get yourself a study group, and you will be fine. The labs are easy to do. Professor Randolph may be hard to hear at times, so just sit in the front. Don't slack!
Honestly, Randolph is the best professor I've ever taken. If you're interested in biology or ecology at all, taking his class will be a good indicator of whether or not it's the best field for you. If you take good notes, attend class and study you will get a LOT from his class. Also he's silly and will crack you up with his corny jokes.
Great teacher! He gave study guides, but go to class too because lecture notes WILL be on the test. His tests are mostly multiple choice, but around 30 points are written. Study definitions & especially cycles. He grades fairly and gives plenty of extra credits, it's hard not to pass. The media study room in the library is great for study groups
Extensive amount of work but not impossible. As others stated, just answer the questions asked with minimal grammatical errors and you've got an A. He was also very transparent regarding his travels and graded assignments as quickly as I expected coming into the course. Easy A if you can keep up with the extensive but relatively easy workload.
I love Professor Randolph. He is good at making his lectures somewhat interesting. With that being said, this class is moderate in terms of difficulty. The quizzes are open book and the quiz questions are usually the same questions on the tests. It would be wise to come to class each day punctually and make sure you take notes during lectures.
You need the book for class. The professor is very sweet and nice. He has lots of stories to tell. The tests are fairly easy, you just have to understand his study guides which are all over the place. I found that the power point presentations have mostly all the answers in it, so I use it as a study guide. We had to do 15 hrs of volunteer work.
Hes great! He gives you a calendar on the first day of class of all the due dates. It may seem like a lot of work. But as long as you show up to class, do your homework, and are involved on online discussion youll be fine. As long as you answer all the questions in your paragraphs youre fine. Its all about keeping up with due dates.
Professor Randolph is the best. I got a 78 but that was on me because I didnt study the material enough. Take all the quizzes and study the quiz answers. Find friends to share questions with. He is a really great professor and knows what hes talking about. Im taking Bio 2 with him
Professor Randolph is a very straight-forward person, but he is a kind-hearted individual. His exams match closely to his quizzes. Pay attention in-class: there will be questions on the exams only spoken about in-class. Pay attention while he explains labs, too; he explains quickly and you will need to know specific information for lab exams.
Very heavy assignment load. Online six week course. Excessive with discussion posts. Do not take this class if you're already busy. 13 one page homework papers , 3 five page term papers, 4 assignment/projects, and 5 discussion forums that require 3 initial post with 18 replies per discussion.
I found Randolph to have a very clear set up for his class. He has online quizzes before tests so that you get exposed to some of the exact questions that are going to be on the test. He lets you record the lectures, which is really helpful for studying. His labs are not difficult, but make sure you pay attention because he has two lab exams.
He is rude but straightforward. Will email you back quickly but with attitude; however, he is very fair. The class was alot of busy work; nothing hard, but expect to do research every week for discussion boards and projects. As long as you follow instructions exactly he gives you an A. I did learn a lot in this class, definitely worth taking.
Honestly, this class consisted of a lot of work but as long as you do the work you are guaranteed an A. He is not a tough grader at all, he just wants you to learn, research, and do the work. I took this as a 6-week course which consisted of: 13 homework assignments, 3 papers, 3 assignments, and a couple of discussion posts!
His class consists of quizzes and tests. Barely any homework. His quizzes are basically identical to the test questions, so they really help! Most quizzes he let us take 4 times. His lectures are long. But his study guides are what helped me end up getting an A. If you use his study guides w/ the book you will be fine!
It is honestly an easy A as long as you do the work! He gives A LOT of busywork, but if you do it and follow the easy instructions you will get a 100 on the assignment. The work is not hard at all just time-consuming. My advice would be to get a calendar and stay on track with due dates because as long as you do the work you will get an A.
Logan is a very knowledgeable and helpful professor. He is funny and gives very helpful lectures. you must review all his attachments in canvas as well as the book for tests. READ the book. Show up to class. His lectures are insightful. Be sure to take notes in lectures(Record), and ASK in his office hours for anything you do not understand.
Do NOT take this teacher I am begging you. I am very strong in Biology and this teacher does not teach and actually takes pride in his students failure. Everyone in my class failed the assignments and he laughed at it. He does not teach, and literally laughs at your failure. DO NOT take this teacher, he is the absolute WORST.
If you are planning on taking Dr. Randolph online, don't. He doesn't post all of the material for each unit until a day before exams. He is very rude when students make mistakes even though it's because he relies on online resources and YouTube videos instead of actually lecturing himself. His tests don't even come from the material you learn.
Randolph is an amazing professor. He is very knowledgeable and gives amazing lectures. His grading is clear he sets you up for success. Be ready to study for sure though!
Okay so basically his lectures are super effing confusing. Its super boring too, but you can see he tries. Youtube is your bestfriend, also read the book before class lectures (i didnt and i was always lost) my friends who read always got As on the test. Labs are actually pretty easy! I ended the class with a C cause final is HARD!!! Hes nice!!!
I took Randolph in an online course, and he was a solid professor. His lectures can be confusing at times, but you can watch them again and take notes. He gives a lot of videos alongside his lectures which help too. He does look at the textbook ALOT, but he explains the subject good enough that you won't need it. I didn't buy the book and got an A.
I took Randolph's Biological Issues class and really enjoyed it. It was a lot of work as there are A LOT of assignments, but it was overall fairly easy. I really enjoyed the projects he had us do and the things he wanted us to research. If you procrastinate you will struggle in this class. Do the work and you will most likely receive an A!
Professor Randolph is one of the best professors at Polk State. With that being said, this class is HARD. There is a lot of information covered in this class so if your procrastinate you most likely not do very well. Studying is crucial for passing this class. Randolph knows his class is hard and he is there to help you if you reach out to him.
If you do your work you're fine. The unit quizzes before every test are the exact same questions as what is on the tests. He also gives study guides that are super helpful. If you do your work you can pass easily. Professor is super funny.
Very hard grader, exam reviews not aligned with exam.
horrible teacher, treats you like his personal diary and tells you all your problems but he won't answer emails nor phone calls. he gives you 30 mins. to take a 35 question exam with three written answers and fill in the blank and one you have to write a paragraph. DO NOT TAKE SAVE YOU TIME PEACE ENERGY AND MONEY
Gave multiple lectures each week. Provided good resources for studying, and the lectures were very informational. Tests and the final exam were tough, but you will pass as long as you study and do the assignments properly.
Professor Randolph is one of the hardest teachers I have ever taken. He is bit harsh with his words and I find it to be very discouraging. He barely gives time to do his assignments and he very rarely gives multiple attempts in order for you to actually absorb the material. I am barely passing this class, and I have spent hours upon hours studying
I liked Randolph's class for biological issues, fully online. He is very clear on what to expect and what to do on assignments. 2 papers (not bad), 5 written assignments, 10 discussion posts (with 5 replies), and 10 quizzes (2 attempts). The only complaint I have is he lets his emotions control him. Stay on top of deadlines and it's an easy A
He was nice and really easy going. Had lots of personal stories from his lifetime in lecture. He can get off topic some during lecture. Tests are fairly easy. His practice quizzes are questions that you will see on your tests and there will be similar questions, short and simple on the tests as well. There's a book and videos to help study.
This is a great biology class with a lab. The MOST understanding professor I have had. The work is not hard IF you read and take the time to do notes. Studying is important. There are four modules and a test on honor lock for each module. Each lesson will prepare you for the module test. The lessons can be time consuming but are interesting.
Smart man too smart to teach BSC1010. Very discouraging prof for someone who is mentally not in good headspace he puts you down a lot. Instead of raising you up terrible excuse of a teacher His lectures are pre rec and he stands 20 feet from the camera you can't hear anything. The labs are easy, test are difficult and uses honor lock
Prof. Randolph's course is relatively easy. There are numerous quizzes, but you have multiple attempts to obtain a perfect score. The discussion posts can be overwhelming at first, but you get the hang of it after the second one. He is very easy to reach outside of class.
