she's funny, and trys to make the material less dry and boring. She'll help you if you ask.
She rocks the house! I love Borek, she's really helpful and her labs are shorter than the assigned time, but she's always willing to explain things in a new way. She is interested in not just allowing you to learn the material, but in the material affecting your daily life.
She is great at teaching anatomy. She loves what she does and is willing to help the students at any given time. She usually has study guides that tremendously help on the test.
She does give study guides, but you still need to read from the book, ALOT!!! She can be hard, but is guick to listen to questions.
Very easy class if you study. She gives a lot of hints and curves tests all the time. Very interesting class. I recommend her for BIOL, that is.

She knows her material, but can't convey it knowledge clearly. She's scattered, talking about various topics, when she needs to focus on the material. Use her lectures as a guide and study independently. She's very conservative and like to push her values onto the class and say things are "facts", when they're really just her misguided opinions.
Her exams are tough.
Great teacher!! She definately focuses on the concepts and whether or not her students are able to grasp them. I would recommend her to anyone with an interest in Health Science.
Very hard to follow her in lecture...Good thing her tests are straight from the book..This means you need to read and study the book..her notes are not very helpfull..Tests are challenging because she tests strictly on physiology not anatomy and definitions..You have to understand the material to make a good grade in her class..Be prepared to stud
She is very helpful and knowledgeable. Her tests are not too hard. Be sure to concentrate on the book rather than her notes and you should do well. Also make sure to read all of her questions carefully!!
Very straight forward. She goes over and over concepts for emphasis. I think her tests come straight from lecture and her notes. I have only read the book for concepts I needed help with. She is upbeat and clever keeping class interesting. Strongly recommend her for anyone requiring A & P.
She was EXCELLENT. Do not memorize for her tests. You must understand the concept she is teaching. She is always willing to stay after class for any extra help you may need. Use her notes, but read the book. The majority of the test comes from the book. Use her notes only as a guide. Be prepared to study a lot!
Excellent. If you asked questions she was very determined to give you a through answer. She is funny and offers help. Wonderful instructor.
Her class is very interesting! She gives real-life situations to the concepts and makes the lectures so interesting! If you can, get her as a lab instructor as well because she is definitely the funniest and most interesting biology professor! She gives extra credit to be applied to the tests and the quizzes are easy! Don't buy the book though!
Nothing personal, however I felt she did not stick to topics in class and seemed to get off on tangents, I felt the tests were designed to see how well she could confuse students and not to test what they have learned. Got nothing out of lecture and many people stated they had to take the class over. I've heard she is better than the other
very easygoing professor
Awesome and interesting professor. I like the way she teaches the class, very understandable and interesting class. However, her test can be hard sometimes, 70% concept so make sure you read the book and know how to apply the concepts. 1st test and final pretty straight forward not much concept, but 2nd and 3rd do.
I took Human Anatomy I & II from Dr. Borek. She is GSU's best asset. She relates material to real life. She has a joy for life that is contagious. She knows the material better than anyone. She is very fair and prepares students very well. Do not take anyone else if you are serious about learning.
The best Bio professor you could ever have...
i took a&p I with her. She has such a love for this subject and will help ANY one of her students. There have been many times I have sat in her office with her for over an hour while she explained a concept. She will make sure you understand it and cares about every student. After taking Masey, Borek was a refreshing and caring teacher!
Dr. Borek is an awesome teacher. She is extremely helpful. The tests are difficult if you dont know the concept but if you put a lot of effort an A is definately possible! GREAT PROFESSOR!!!
Very easy teacher, unless you do not study for tests and dont attend class. Attendance is not mandatory but certainly helps, as is always the case. Class is really interesting, but at times goes off on tangents. She was usually late for class as well. Still really nice & friendly & is a great teacher.
She is a great professor. She really knows her stuff. Her tests can be hard if you don't study, but if you do the study guides you're sure to get a "B."
Borek is one the most incredible biology teachers out there. She is truly passionate about what she teaches even though some of the material might be a bore. If you don't get an A in this course...WOW.
GREAT TEACHER! She's THE BEST ONE I've HAD AT GSU! TAKE HER SHE'S FUN AND TOTALLY HELPFUL!
oh Dr Borek's class is very interesting, she is extremely helpful and always willing to talk to her students and offer her opinion. she is simply good, if you want to pass Biology and enjoy the class, this is the class to be.
Dr. Borek is great! Be prepared to study.
I strongly recommend Dr. Borek for anatomy and physiology classes. She covers the material very well, and she makes it interesting in the process. She tells lots of great anecdotes in class.
Outstanding
Professor is nice and everything but I can honestly say that I learned more from her SI (supplemental instructor) then I did from her. She did not stay on track in a lot of her lectures. Take her class as long as she has a SI available that semester.
i dont know what these people are talking about but this woman is ridiculus!! i am a bio major and her class isn't necessary for me and was way harder than it needs to be. Lab is all memorization and takes more effort than the actuall class. Dont take it unless you have to!
This class was not easy...she talks really fast so you have to read to make sure you actually understand whats going on. Her SI was ALOT of help idk what i would have done without him..so go to the sessions. Overall dont take this class unless required cause it takes up alot of time.
She is an easy teacher, you should show up to every class. She gives quizzes that relate to classwork. She is a great professor with funny stories relating to biology. She does go off into a tangent sometimes & are times when you are like come on let's get back to the subject lady, but she has such a presence that you kind of forget that you are mad
A fun teacher. Do her study guides and look over the ppt and you should be fine for the tests. Lab is crazy though!
Dr. Borek is probably the best biology teacher the biology dept. has. She is fun, understanding and easy to get along with. The exams are very easy. Everything that's on the study guide is on the test. With this class I also had a good lab instructor (Don) and a good SI (Nick). Both men work along with Borek to make sure students are understanding
Dr. Borek is really nice and EASY. Take her..easy A! There is a quiz every week, if you go to class you will do fine. Lab is crazy tho, quiz every time you meet. She gives out study guides..do them, the test is str8 from the study guides. Go to SI it helps alot 2! Good Luck...Trust me Great Prof.!
She's a character. Class is pretty easy. Test is straight of the study guides. Only complaints are the inconsistency of difficulty on some lab quizzes, disorganization of ulearn page, and long/no response time to emails.
I absolutely love Dr. Borek. She is hilarious. The only problem is that she thinks that her class is a lot easier than it is. She gives study guides, but they don't really help. However, I still managed to get a B even though I got C's on the first three (of four) tests.
Great teacher. Made class fun. (Not easy task, especially with Biology!)
Professor Borek is very entertaining. Her explanations can be a little confusing but the subject is going to be a challenge no matter who teaches it. I highly recommend her. She is always willing to help.
Dr. Borek is an amazing teacher. I would suggest everyone take her class. Physiology is something she knows everything about and if you ask for help she will jump over backwards to help you. I got all As in her classes. I love her. You will really enjoy her class.
After reading the ratings I couldn't wait to be in her class. I didn't expect the material to be easy but she made the class VERY difficult. She talks VERY fast assuming you have prior knowledge about the subject. study guide answers may not be found in book or notes. Class notes inconsistent/unorganized. She confused me more than anything
Borek is FUNDERFUL!! One of the best bio instructors I have ever had. She relates course material into "real life" so folks can get it. Tests are straightfoward and not hard if you study. Her SI for FA2009 was the bomb!! Labs are a waste of time, but necessary for your grade. Borek is the epitome of what a REAL INSTRUCTOR IS. Take her!!
SHE IS A VERY GOOD TEACHER! I HAVE TAKEN MANY SCIENCE CLASSES, AND SHE IS BY FAR THE BEST SCIENCE TEACHER. HER TESTS ARE NOT HARD IF YOU ATTEND SI AND CLASS! YOU HAVE TO STUDY THE MATERIAL TO DO WELL!
LOVED this Professor! Truly one of the most easy going Professors. Everyone I spoke to loved her. She's incredibly bright and makes class enjoyable and fun (yes Bio...fun). I would HIGHLY recommend this teacher. If you go to class and pay attention you will do well! I would take any class she teaches.
She is great! Granted it's not an easy class. You as the student are expected to know the material and come to class ready to discuss. But if you do that, the class will be a breeze. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Dr Borek talks way too fast, expects you to already understand everything (why would i take this class if i knew it?). no matter how much you read or the notes you take or the guides you study the tests will be ridiculous. her questions are not at the level of the class. always has to give 6+ pts EC. i would never recommend her.
Dr. Borek is a great teacher. She made class very interesting and she cares a lot about her students! To me, she's one of the best bio teachers at Georgia State...and good biology teachers are hard to find. :) It's easy to get an A with a little studying and SI sessions. I highly recommend her!
Take her!!!!! She is absolutely awesome!!!!! Cannot recommend her class enough. Wish I could take every Bio class from her.
Dr. borek class is extremely easy Take her if your are not a biology major. She really just enjoys the company and tries to have fun with the class .....Go to SI they practically give you the test very easy
I've taken Borek for 1104 and 1120. She's great! There is some expectation that you have some prior knowledge (which is understandable this is college people! Not HS) She does like her tangents and rabbit trails... but is also very entertaining. You'll like coming to class. And use the SI, it is very helpful as well.
I took her for Bio 1103/1104 & 1110/1120. Intro bios are generally easy so that class was a breeze. The anatomy classes are going to be hard regardless & require a lot of studying. She respects your intelligence enough to assume that you study on your own... In general 1110/1120 are difficult. Borek helps as much as she can! Borek > other teachers!
I had Dr. Borek for A&P I this past summer. She's a good professor with a great sense of humor. She is willing to help anytime of the day but you need to show her your dedication as well. You don't have to attend the lecture to do well in the class but read the powerpoint and book. Participate in discussion. She likes that!
Dr.Borek is wonderful the test makes you think, You really have to study the information to get a good grade. She test over concepts so if you are not good with concepts dont take her. But overall great Professor!
Great Class and Professor she is very easy in this class compared to her BIOLOGY 1110 class but you will learn a lot of information that you will be able to use later in life. I love the Professor.
Nice teacher. Oodles of cool info to use later in life! really unorganized though and falls behind so often that labs are often ahead of what we have learned yet. A lot of blind memorization for lab tests but lecture tests are easy.
Dr. Borek is simply fantastic! She has a great sense of humor and helps make the material even more interesting. She's approachable, respectful, and always happy to help. This is a tough class and you must work hard for your A, but Dr. Borek doesn't try to make the class anymore difficult than it is by default. I highly recommend her!
Borek was great! I ended with an A in the class. The first exam was a little tricky. Didn't use the book much, she focuses on the slides. She has a quiz every now and then but most times you can get help from classmates. GO TO SI SESSIONS! They practically give you the answers to the test.
She talks very fast. Multiple times she would just stand up at the front of the room and list stuff. She didn't slow down and explain things.
This prof does go through the material quickly...her tests are hard and tricky despite being multiple choice...I wouldn't take her again.
She will tell you at the beginning of class that she is an easy A teacher, but the truth is if the class does too well then she will triple the hardness of the test. Her tests have nothing to do with her study guides or powerpoints. DON'T TAKE HER
Absolutely terrible teacher. Confuses herself and the class. Extremely unfair tests that are very wordy and confusing. She confuses herself and the class. Very unclear what will be on quizzes. Grades harshly. I have no idea how she has a doctorate. STAY AWAY.
This class is HORRIBLE. Borek's exam are tough and tricky. She doesn't give any extra credit whatsoever.I don't know where the good ratings are coming from...I would never take her again. Also, lab is just plain awful.
Absolutely a must take. Dr. Borek is a hoot! Lectures, quizzes, and tests are all pretty straight forward.
I don't understand why Dr. Borek has so many compliments. She is a sweet woman but she cannot teach. She was all over the place during lectures, very unorganized, and I have no idea where she pulled most of her test questions from. SI is a must before exams. I wouldn't recommend Dr. Borek if you need structure and organization.
very helpful teacher! her pwpts are straight from the book. her tests could be tricky due to wording, but if you attend class and study hard, you will get an A. i had her for summer and i am definitely going to take her again for BIOL1120 for fall.
I honestly hate that I signed up for her class. For her tests, I think it's okay that she gives you questions where you have to apply the information, BUT, she does NOT prepare you for her test questions. Also, she is VERY scatter-brained, and even asks US questions when she can't remember the material! I would never take another class from her
I absolutely love Dr. Borek! She is great. If you attend class and try your best you will come out of the class with a B+ or an A. She actually cares about students and if you go to her office hours she will clear up anything that might be unclear in class. The tests can be tricky, but she tells you what to expect and how to prepare for them. :)
i had her for anatomy 1 & 2 and she is AWESOME!!!! must pay attention in class and read notes and book to get a decent grade for her tests. the final is much much easier than her lecture exams. you will get a good grade if you really study. you definitely should take her! :)
I have taken Dr. Borek for Biology 1104 and Anatomy 1110. She's very straight forward, attendance isn't mandatory, per se, however it would be in your better interest to do so as much of what is on her tests and the way its worded is said in class. I would highly recommend her and am taking her 1120 class in the fall!
Wonderful Prof. Tells real life stories that help with the material. Very funny and tells it like it is. Test material focuses mainly on her powerpoints. Tests can be a little tricky, as she tries to make sure you really know the stuff. I got an A and I mainly studied the powerpoints and used the book as a reference tool to feel in the gaps.
I would not recommend this class at all! She goes way to fast and expects students to already know the material. She barley gives explanation and sits behind the desk and reads off slides everyday as a teaching method. The whole class seems bored! I would never take Borek again.
really nice teacher, energetic, always gives study guides(sometimes 4 extra credit)repeats and emphasizes important material, post power points online
Excellent professor. Borek is passionate, funny, and very understanding. The material is tough and she moves pretty fast: welcome to college. Tests are hard, but she gives ample opportunities to improve your grade. SI once a week helps dramatically. Class is at 9 am MWF. Go, or it will be tough to pass.
Love Dr. Borek!! She makes the material relate-able and clarifies all information not understood. Read her powerpoints and you're good!
She is a good teacher and her quizzes are simple. She works off her powerpoints the whole semester. She does tend to blabber about pointless stories and she is really unorganized. Tends to show up late occasionally. Show up to the class tho. GO TO SI for her. I never went for any classes but for this man, did it help.
shes wayyy too hard questions on the test come out of nowhere
Her tests are extremely hard! Her lecture is really fast pace. She expects you to know it already. She said her first 5 chapters are suppose to be review! This class you have to study day and night. She is a nice lady but her test is tough! Each chapter has about 100-150 slides ppt. Useless info that was not on the test.
She's super awesome, but the class is difficult. She isn't very clear with what she is saying so it's difficult to pay attention. I learned more from book than her. 4 tests, quizzes & case studies. 60+ question study guides given. Difficult material so use book REGULARLY.
She is awesome lecture just listen in class and have good grades in test exams, she is easy to talk to, I look her for A&P 1&2
Took this class during the summer, not bad at all especially if you're willing to put in the work and study. Dr. Borek is a great professor who makes complex concepts of A&P more simple. Tests were not bad, but you need to study.
If Your a bio major DO NOT!!!! take this class. Very unnecessarily hard elective. No one in class understood her, Tests are extremely difficult. If taking this class, you need the book to pass. Study guides are mandatory turn in assignments, with average 60 questions, and 2 per test. The study guides do not help much for the test.
DO NOT TAKE HER. She goes WAY too fast and is very confusing. Her tests are difficult. Most people withdraw from the course, and those you didn't just end up failing.
Difficult course and am hesitate to take her during the summer. Her course is not hard per se, its more of the fact that her thoughts are jumbled at times and makes the course more confusing. If you plan to take her, just make sure you're good with time management. That was my issue since the winter storm hit and my laptop was stolen at that time.
Borek is all over the place during lectures. Very confusing and hard to follow. I am currently taking the second part to this class with another professor and it has made a world of a difference. Do not recommend her at all.
Makes complex concepts simpler. Sometimes Dr. Borek miss speaks. As a result, students initially learn the material incorrectly. She uses stories to relate the material to the class. Yet, sometimes those stories take up too much class time. When using the ppt slides while teaching, she's able to stay on task & her teaching is at optimum level.
Dr. Borek is a great teacher. You definitely have to go to class to know what's going to be on her test &quizzes. Those who don't pass her class are the ones that don't pay attention and go to class. She tells you exactly what's going to be on the quizzes & there are straightforward study guides for the tests. Case studies also bump up your grade!
Dr. B i a great teacher. I think she gets a lot of flack from students because she expects you to read before the lecture. BE prepared,- she will be very responsive when you ask questions then. She will give you credit if you can argue your points- always. AP is hard subject anywhere- 12 people always fail out. But try and she will work with you.
Class is tough, you need to come to class and read powerpoints and read the chapters. She is always there for help and gives out lots of extra credit. There is typically a chance to earn 50 points bonus.
I would say that Dr. Borek is a great teacher. A&P is going to be a hard class regardless but if you go to class she tells you what will be on her tests. Read the book, listen to the lecture, and GO TO SI. If you work hard you'll be fine.
Dr. B was an amazing professor. She really engages the class and makes the class bearable. Despite the 8:00am classes for two semesters as a commuter, she was one of the most understanding and caring professors ever. She wants you to succeed. You definitely have to work for your grade but she is more than willing to help you along the way. Take her
Pros: willing to help, grading system is clear, extra points were given throughout the semester. Cons: willing to help but understanding how she explains is hard, lectures go very fast, tests are worded differently then read ( so be sure to think about the questions she is asking on the tests thoroughly) I was .3 away from a B.
She is nice. You don't need the book, she tells you exactly what will be on the quizzes, and the study guides help a lot. Those who said she was difficult, probably did not attend class, or pay attention to what she was saying. There was no SI, but that is because Intro to Human Physiology is not an in depth course like A&P is. 9 out of 10.
She is nice, just focus on what she says and you will be fine. I recorded her lectures and read them later to kind of break down what she was saying. You do not need the book, just study her study guides and powerpoints and you will receive an A+AA-. Quizzes come straight from what she says will be on the quiz. Minimal effort required to pass. :)
She is a very confusing professor. Lectures are FAST and sometimes she confuses herself while talking. It's very hard to follow along in class, especially if you don't read before class. KNOW THE INFO ON THE SLIDES SHE SKIPS.
Take another professor. You take her class at the expense of your gpa. Proceed with caution.
She's very disorganized. Doesn't grade on time. Her lectures are all over the place and if you don't read you'll be lost during lectures. Quizzes are easy, case studies help your grade. Lab is annoying!!!! She's an okay teacher but I do better with organized profs!
BEST ANATOMY PROFESSOR AT GSU. She wants you to do well and is passionate about the subject which makes the class so fun. Of course the class isn't easy but that isn't Dr. B's fault. She is hilarious and personable and easy to follow along with if you read before. She'll give a lot of extra credit at the end of the semester. Take Dr. Borek!!
Dr. Borek is an amazing professor ! She expects you to do your absolute best . This class is definitely hard but when you leave her class , you will know your stuff ! She gives case studies and quizzes that help your grade tremendously! She's the best!
As a post-bacc student, I found the lab to be the most challenging. Borek's tests are hard, you definitely need to know the chapters VERY thoroughly to do well. She made the lecture more interesting than I thought it would be. She will give you a heads up on the quizes and what they are on, usually 1 quizweek.
She goes really fast. She will tell you whats on the quizzes, read before each lecture. Shes funny but goes off topic alot, she gives alot of extra credit and that helped me so much, thought I was gonna fail the class but got a B. COME to class, go to SI and you will be fine, the lab is harder, but work hard and you should be set.
She's a great teacher. Class is always interesting and she's great at making the topic relevant. Make sure you do the study guides for tests and go to SI sessions, they're very helpful. Overall, the class is VERY hard but Borek makes it more manageable. Get a study group together
Dr. Borek has a passion about anatomy. Anatomy was definitely a challenge. Ask questions, go to office hours and si sessions no way you will fail. Actually reviewing recordings along with power points helped me retain the info. I recommend Dr. Borek!!
I loved Dr. Borek. I took both Bio 2110 and 2120 with her. She's very energetic and funny, and she knows the material. Reading the book and attending lectures are the keys to doing well in this course. She talks fast. I recorded the lectures and played them back while re-taking notes. Tests are hard but you will know the material.
Shes charismatic & enjoys making jokes. Sometimes she can go off topic but its usually in relation to the material taught. Only thing i can say is to watch out for is that her lectures can be disorganized and hard to follow. Tests are extremely tricking because there can be more than one answer or none at all. ASK QUESTIONS 4 CLARITY
This class was a lot of work. I thought her lectures were disorganized and I felt like she words her test poorly. However, she makes up for her crazy tests by huge amounts of extra credit. I like her a lot as a person, don't love her as a professor.
She goes through the ppt INCREDIBLY fast. Quiz every week. 3 exams plus a final. 4 case studies. Almost seem like you had to teach yourself the material. I wouldn't recommend taking her. I don't think she taught A&P well. Plus this class required ALOT of work. Avoid borek if you want to save your GPA.
Tests are very tough, quizzes every week, 4 case studies, but TONS of extra credit given to gain back the points! Read the textbook and do the study guides, because she talks to fast in her lectures and goes off track quick.
No matter who you take for Anatomy, news flash: IT'S HARD. However, Dr. Borek makes this class very doable and gives you ample opportunity to make an A. If you don't want to work in Anatomy for your grade you shouldn't be taking this class period. She's an excellent professor and she cares about you and your grade. READ, go to class, do bonus A
Her lectures are very hard to grasp, if you are not an auditory learner do not take this class. She lectures all class and rambles basically reading off slides the whole class with little interaction. She does give a lot of bonus points so that is a plus, but it is basically a self taught class with the way she teaches.
The professor goes through the concept in class very quickly due to limited time because she tends to stray on and off topic a lot. Her exams are tricky consisting a lot of "all of the above", "none of the above" and "a and c" as her answers. Offers extra credit but it won't help you if you're not doing well in her class in the first place.
Test never matched up to what she taught in class. On the upside she gave plenty of extra assignments to make up for lost points.
Dr. Borek is very funny, but her lectures are very fast and disorganized. It is impossible to get down everything she says. Skim the text before class, do the study guides (handwrite them and use the textbook and power points... add your own questions), print the powerpoints to bring to class, do the extra credit, and you'll be okay.
This is hands down the hardest class I've ever taken. She does not teach, she runs through PP slides, and students end up teaching themselves through solely reading the book. She doesn't get reprimanded because she's a tenure teacher. If you want to save your GPA and actually learn material, save yourself and take someone else.
You definitely have to work for your grade. She's actually pretty funny and wants you to do well. Tests are HARD! But like others have said, she gives a lot of extra credit in forms of extra quizzes, study guides, and sometimes for just showing up in class. It's tough & I honestly thought I'd be lucky getting a C, but actually ended up with A-!
If you do the work then you shouldn't have a problem. Go to office hours and get to know her, shes kind and if she sees that you're giving it your all, she'll reward you accordingly. I think she cares for her students
Borek is like a 3.5/4. Tests are not easy and will require you to study a lot, esp. if youre not a bio major or know some of the material already. Gives lots of extra credit opportunities. Only thing that I didnt like was how she took her time teaching test 1 material, but rushed through 2 and 3. Try to do well in lecture, because lab is hard!
You have to study hard in her class in order to pass. Lab is easy as long as you take the time to study for it, easy A in there. However, Borek lecture is hard because her exams are tricky but she gives out alot of extra credit and case studies that you have to make sure you do good on. I passed her class with a B only because of the extra credit.
Dr. Borek is not an easy professor but the class is not meant to be easy. You will have to put in the time and dedication to study because her test are conceptual. Her extra credit will most definitely boost you up. Lab is challenging only because it requires a lot of memorization. Overall, she is a good professor and will prepare you well.
borek absolutely prepared me for the nursing program. I would recommend reading before her lectures and attending SI to truly understand and APPLY the material. Lectures gloss over the fine details but you need to dig deeper as a student to help yourself pass those TOUGH exams.
