she's... ok...
She is really hard because she doesn't explain the material very well at all. And her test don't always agree with what she teaches. You can ask her questions and she'll help but she has an attitude about it, like you're stupid. Avoid her at all costs!
She is very hard but you leave her class with a very strong background in chemistry. Really enjoyed her lecture style and had no problem asking questions. If you work hard and show up to class, she is more willing to help than those that don't.

I hated the pop quizes.She didn't make it fun. She definately counts attendance. Don't be late!!! Her tests aren't easy. I don't know how i passed.
Most people hate this woman by the end of the semester, especially if you have to take her lab. But when you leave the class you know your chemestry s***. I can still do most everything two years later. If you don't want to put effort in Chemestry then don't even think about going into her class.
This definitely wasn't a blow-off class. I had to study but no more than what is expected from a chemistry class. I studied regularly and got an A and I sure know my Chemistry now. Take her if you have to take multiple chemistrys because she'll give you a great background.
DO NOT TAKE HER!!! The only thing clear about her class, ie lab, is the manual. If you don't understand it, she makes you feel retarded. DON'T GO INTO LAB WITHOUT YOUR GOGGLES ON OR APRON ON! SHE'LL GO APE S*** ON YOU EVEN ON THE FIRST DAY!!!
Ok..this woman is psycho. If it was just lecture I was grading on, she was a really good teacher...but, she is a nut in the lab. EVERYTHING HAS TO BE EXACT! Don't even think about putting glass under the ionized water. She can, and will, rip your head off...try signing up for someone else...
I am a 4.0 Student and currently have an A in her lab. I do not mind hard work so long as it is fairly graded and not impossible to do. She is rude, impossible to talk to, a snob, and will make you feel retarded for asking a simple question. I do not think she is fit to educate people on any level.

Not an understanding woman. She is very knowledgeable in her field, but tends to forget that her students arn't at her level of expertise. her test are horrible. Don't ask any questions in class, because you will be humilliated. not a fun class, but like i said she is very bright just not a very nice person
She isn't the clearest of teachers, but even so I think she's underrated. She is far from the worst, but she could be a lot better. She isn't always super nice either.
She is a difficult teacher. If you need to know the subject for other classes she is the best to learn it form. but by no means is she easy or likable
She's the type of person my southern mother would call "persnickity." In other words, she's the type of person who likes to prove you wrong and show how smart she is rather than help you out. She is very rude and pretentious. Don't ask her for help, because she will purposely confuse you and then talk to you like you are stupid for not understanding her. That's just the type of person she is.
Just say no!! If your already good at chem, take her but remember your on your own. I felt she got mad if you didn't know the subj. She didn't teach it as an intro class (no experience or very little in the subj)
She doesn't treat her students with respect. She has a great knowledge of the subject, but treats are her students like they should know as much as she does. If you do the smallest thing wrong, she eats you up.

Do not take her! Her tests whent into stuff not covered in class. She treats you like you are in pre-school. She does not respect you like a paying adult. The only good thing about her is the grading scale. 75 to 90 is a B, 91 to 100 is a A.

WARNING! Do not take this teacher unless you are a genius. If you are just a regular college student needing to pass this class then take someone else. She is HORRIBLE!
She does not give any partial credit even if you have the correct answer. Example, I got all the quiz answers right yet I still made a 90%. She is great at lecturing but horrible at grading. If you have to take her please be prepared to study her hadeouts before tests and quizes.

If you want get the most from your first Chemistry course, choose Dr. Dixon. Her high standards will only help guarantee your success later.
i don't think i could say ONE good thing about this woman. If you are even TWO seconds late to class, be prepared to get torn in two. If you ask a question she treats you like an idiot (you know where she smiles and treats you like you are three years old). She is horrible just avoid her at all costs
Dixon is knowledgeable but lacks the required skills to effectively teach. She is consistently unapproachable without fear of belittlement. Her test employ trickery designed to through the student from the material studied. Avoid Dixon at ALL COST, she will ruin your interest in Chemistry forever!!!!

She's not the nicest woman in the world and was the strictest teacher I've ever had. But, her lectures are very easy to follow. Overall I'm glad I took her since what I learned in her class carried me through two more chem classes.
All in all, Dixon knows her stuff. However, she is going to make you work for the grade so be ready for it. She is rude, and condescending so be ready for that too. Now that you know, go for it but don’t say that you were not warned.

Her intro chemistry class is only slightly above the level of a high school chemistry course. How well or badly you'll do in her class depends on how well or poorly you did in high school chemistry; she isn't likely to help you much if you struggled with high school chem.
She is a very straight forward teacher. She is a tough teacher and expects alot of you, she also has a bad habit of making you feel stupid.

It there is one word to describe this teacher it would be EVIL. Make sure she likes you lab partner. I went from having a high A to a low B in this class due to the fact that she hated my partner. Even if it doesnt ask you how you calculate something like Celius to kelivin make sure you write the equation, substution and answer. RUN AWAY If you can

If you are going to school to make friends then dont take her class. If you want to learn then she is GREAT. She isnt pretty but if you have problems, then she is cool about you coming to her office. I got a C but that was my fault not hers. I will take her again for sure. She knows her Chemistry. Take her.

I think Dr Dixon gets a pretty rough rap. She's a really good teacher, just don't expect her to be your best friend. You can't NOT walk out of her class knowing everything there is to know about chemistry. She's very interested in making sure you know your stuff. I would definitely recommend.
she's a very good professor for chemistry. she knows her stuff and knows how to explain chemistry in lucid terms. however, she treats you like you are the dumbest thing on the planet if you ask her a question, especially in lab. she hates tardiness and absences like the plague. i had her summer term, and it was not a breeze, but i learned a lot.

RUN!!!! Confusing teacher teaches basic chemistry at a level that is graduate. I have not understood one word she is talking about. She also teaches things that are not going to be on the test.
Dr. Dixon is a not a nice person. Unfortunately, she is a great teacher. She favors mature students who are willing to work. You will learn A LOT. If you are pre-med, let her be your welcome wagon to your new life. Pre-med classes are "weed out" classes, after all, and if you can't take one little Chem class medicine may not be for you.
Taking this class makes me feel like i'm in high school again. Do not take if you want a teacher that is good and cares about their students. If you already had a great chem teacher, you'll pass the class, but you'll be hating yourself for taking it.

Worst teacher ever, please avoid her at all costs. Staying in her Lab class almost caused me to lose a scholarship because she grades so hard. When taking a test, YOU MUST 1.) write the equation (that is already given to you, wtf?) 2.) rewrite it with substitutions 3.) write answer, and if you miss a unit,you are screwed. Oh boy, what a rude awakening! She was LOUD - abrupt, rude, insistent, uncompromising, and visually unappealing. Worse, she was not approachable - students would struggle through class work on their own rather than ask her for assistance and be subjected to public humiliation. Please do not take her classes, force her to retire.
She is an amazing teacher that not enough people give her credit for. She knows what she is talking about, makes it understandable, and is approachable (to an extent). I am glad I got her this semester and I feel confident in moving on to CHM1045. You do need to study for her tests, though. She is an A++ teacher! Recommend if you want to learn chem
I enjoyed Dr. Dixon. She will grade you on how much effort you put forth in her lab. She does not like rude, disruptive students and she wants all questions aimed toward her and not your neighbor. If you talk to her you will get a response and she will stay after class to help along w/ any questions you have. I strongly recommend her.

She is mean, disrespectful and very condescending. She offers very little help inside and outside of class, and is quite intimidating. However, IF you can swallow your pride, she is not an unfair grader, the class was not too hard.
Hands down the WORSE professor I have EVER taken. She is ridiculous in so many ways. Anytime a student would ask a legitimate question she would come back with something insulting and degrading. She is a COLLEGE CHEMISTRY teacher yet keeps a seating chart and puts grammar on tests. What a miserable professor. I recommend Hathaway or Roberson!
Do not take Dr Dixon if you're not willing to spend a lot of your own time working out the problems. She would rush through some topics in class. Her tests are pretty hard, too.

3 pretty easy quizzes; 3 moderate multiple choice tests; optional homework. Not much to say about Mrs. Dixon. Most people hate her but she really isn't that bad. She's a good teacher but not so much a people-person.
Dr. Dixon teaches the old way...memorize! She does explain things but without the lab it will be harder to understand. Hopefully she is retiring. You can get a good grade if you do the work. Memorize for the quizzes (25% of grade). Read the book and do the homework for yourself (not required). I'd have received higher than a C+ if I had.
First off, seating chart? she snaps at a phones ringing and won't clearly answer any question.Writes on a unlined notebook with illegible handwriting, so taking notes is difficult, you have to spend 3hours studying after her lecture to understand what she was talking about. Classes are dull and I feel sorry for anyone who takes her class.
Mrs Dixon has twisted view of reality and the classroom. I was unable to follow her because she explains simple concepts in difficult and intricate ways. I would say avoid at all cost!

My name is Kenneth Watts.I normally wouldn't rate a teacher but believe me this is for your benefit. This is one the most miserable old ladies I have come across. It is her way or no way and her grading methods are ridiculous. For example I received 2 points on a 10 point problem and had the correct answer.
Terrible class to take. All she does is sit and write down her lecture on the overhead. She does not explain things and when you ask, she treats you very poorly and doesn't even answer the question.
