The best professor that I have ever had. She has a real passion that comes across. She spent lots of extra time explaining things that I did not understand. I would recommend her to anyone that wants to learn a lot.
Great professor. Has a passion for what she teaches, and is extremely intelligent. Expects you to do the work required, but also teaches an awesome course. Would recommend her to anyone who wants to learn Microbiology the "RIGHT" way!
Excellent professor! You are expected to turn in weekly lab works. Quizzes/tests are given weekly; contain mostly critical thinking. The class, overall, is challenging. I strongly recommend her for those who plan to be in the medical field.
WHYEVER SHEIS NOT OUT THERE LOOKING FOR A CURE TO A DISEASE I DO NOT KNOW. SUCH IS HER EXPERTISE. OUR GAIN THEIR LOSS I SAY.TREMENDOUS WOMAN. VERY INTELLECTAL YET SHE DOESNT LOAD IT ON YOU. WOW!!!
not to sure when the others had her but I took her a year ago and dropped her class. shes hard to understand and a cols person. not a good class. take Arnold.
Test's are worded different and are very hard.
i found her class to be very hard, i actually just dropped her class. I would only take her if you have good studing habits.
She's hard. This will be the first C (if I'm lucky) I ever received. She test on each chapter every week and her test are difficult. Half of my class is failing. She does know her microbiota and is willing to help you. She is nice but has her moments!
Excellent professor. Knows her stuff. Believes that student should be mature enough to know that they are in College and so need to work for their grade. If you are willing towork you will find the class very enjoyable.
Exceptional professor. Trys to scare everyone off the first few weeks then eases off--stick through the first few tests and it gets easier. Explains things clearly and has a sense of humor.
Very hard class, but she knows effort so if you try to excel in her class you will with her added help!
great teacher! If you are willing to study you will do good. She is very clear with what you need to know for the tests.
this is a hard class, but a great teacher...do not expect an easy A... but she does give you an outline and a practice test...great foundation for the medical field...do not suggest this class over the summer....lot a work.....wow...
one of the smartest people on the face of the earth. She is probably the hardest prof you'll have, but you'll learn the most from her. Study the outlines, and the practice tests, and you'll do just fine. Fair, and a great lady.
I loved this professor. The people who think she is hard are the ones who aren't trying very hard. I'm taking her over the summer and am getting an A. If you study hard, you'll be fine. You should take biology before you take micro-that will help.
Good teacher...very nice...she's a little picky about her tests, but she is very knowledgable and is willing to help you...study, do any extra credit in labs and you should get an A....
very helpfull, but kind of hard
Nice lady. Good teacher. Tests are very hard. Be prepared to study a lot.
LOVED this prof.! Easy to get an A - I love the subject tho. Her tests were very fair with just the right amount of challenge. She gets frustrated if u try to dupe her so don't try. She's AWESOME; inspiring & very very clear about what she expects.
Very clear and fair.
She is a good teacher, but I recommend that if you plan on taking her class make sur you do three things: Never walk in late, Get a digital recorder for her class (it will come in handy), and last but not least, try not to take classes that will demand alot beacause this class will absolutely do it.
Very good and smart teacher. I was very scared to take microbiology, and when I hard professor Sealy was a very hard techer I had no motivation to take this class. I took micro over the summer, and I got an A.Her test are essays test. If you study and go to classes you will pass.
She is a VERY good teacher... just TOUGH!
She knows her stuff so you better know yours! good teacher kinda tough, has a small accent thats all. Test will be tough if you don't do and remember the outlines and read the chapters. the outlines is the only thing i liked about her and her intelligence in the subject.
Very awesome teacher. Dont be fooled by how tough she seems to be, just pay attention in class AND IN LAB and atleast do the review sheets she gives you before the tests and you will do great! She can be a little intimidating and very demanding of her students, but overall an excellent instructor!
pretty hard but i still learned from her, tests are mostly based on the outlines, also her tests are all very similar, if u know how to study well, then u'll do the tests very well
she was a great professor she is tough but knows her stuff. you just have to do the review sheets and make sure u go to all her labs, they will bring you down if you do not.
tough professor but nice.
Wonderful teacher - learned more in her class than in any other course I have ever taken. Make certain you take great notes - 98% of her questions are from her lecture. I rarely had to open the book, but got an easy A. Answer the lab questions COMPLETELY to get full credit!
Great teacher. She is very thorough and you learn a ton. Take good notes, do your lab work, come to EVERY class ON TIME, and study and you should do fine! Highly reccommended!
very, very good but tough, you must study. she is fair and easy to talk to.
Her tests are fair and she gives good outlines. However, she does not explain her labs well. If I wanted to learn from the lab book I would have purchased one and skipped the class. She basically will sit back and watch everyone struggle.
she is a very fair teacher and I learned a lot in her class.
She is the best teacher I have ever had! She is so intellegent and I have never learned more in anyone elses class!
So far it seems as if she really knows what she is talking about, but she doesnt seem to care if you get it or not. She doesnt explain things well at all, she just lectures and thats it. I guess that is how teachers are these days!
her tests are unfair and she DOES NOT give enough time for her tests. she only lectures and doesnt answer questions thouroughly. she "dumbs" it down, but doesnt seem to help. we asked her for help and she laughed and said NO.
Your grade is from exams only, there are plenty, "spring 05" semester, her exams were timed, (I've heard this is new) you have 25 min. for 35 question, mixed with compare/contrast, fill in the blank w/o answers to choose from, some multiple choice. Warning: take at your own risk.
Warning: take at your own risk, she lectures right out of the book, exams are applied, the book is not. Grades based on exams, plenty of them, TIMED-25min, w/compare/contrast, fill in the blank w/o choices, mult choice t/35q. Lab-hw/tests = 1 gr. for both. One lab test/ find 2 unknown organisms in each 13 experments. Another prof. 1 unknown exp.
If you are not prepared to work dont take this class. Very professional professor who really expects you to learn something
If you want a REAL professor, this is the one. She teaches the way professors are suppose to. Make you learn and obtain the knowledge you ned without back tracking. It is recommended to have some kind of Biology or Chemistry background before taking even though not required. At the end I started getting A's :)
She is extremely detailted in he lectures and labs explains everything to the fullest and doesn't mind saying it again. Comes off strong but very knowledgeable, YOU MUST STUDY AND COME TO EVERY CLASS or you will not pass. The material is hard not her. I feel I couldn't have had a better teacher and would take her again for whatever subject.
Awesome teacher! I wish she taught other courses, because I would take them in a heartbeat. Her tests are easy, if you study. There are no surprises, it comes directly from lecture notes. I have absolutely enjoyed her class. She has a tough exterior but she is really sweet and funny when you talk to her. She is a very fair professor.
Sealy is a great professor. Microbiology is hard to the teacher. she tries to make it as understandable as possible. If you come to class and pay attention to detail you will do well. I failed the first try, went back and made an A the second time around. You must really apply yourself to do well. Tests are very intense.
EXceptional professor. Clear, fair, thorough, available during office hours. The tests are challenging though.
this profesor is the hardest i have taken since i have been going to valencia. she is very smart but her lab is hard and her tests are very complicated. she gives a test every week. i would never recommend her.
This is the most intense class I have ever taken. You must be prepared and never miss a class. She is extremely difficult and assumes you know the material. Oh, and good luck on her 20 minute 4 page tests!!
Dont take her unless you want 1 or 2 tests a week. She covers almost the whole book in no time at all and there are way too many tests at once. You have no time to breathe!
Outstanding teacher. She drives you to strive for excellence and nothing less. Review the chapter handouts and lab experiments. All that is on her exams are in her chapter handouts. She takes the time to answer questions until you understand the material. Very professional and empathetic towards her students. Very fair and not easy by any means <><
Awesome teacher. She is difficult though. If you miss a class your S-O-L. She knows what she's talking about. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Study her handouts bc that is exactly what is on her tests. I found study groups to be pretty helpful. Lab was a piece of cake. I would recommend her to anyone.
Dr. Sealy was a GREAT teacher. Jus like the other ratings said she was hard, but she was fair. Her tests are hard, but if you study atleast a couple days before you'll be fine, she gave us tests atleast once a week. Lab was A LOT of fun and EASY. I had a low C at midterm but I ended up with a B. I dunno how. No complaints. Would love to take her ag
Once you weather the storm of the first couple of weeks when she releases those she dislikes, she becomes really nice. The class is well outlined and very organized. If you can pay attention you should be able to get an "A". Just make sure you do the review sheet, because it is essentially the test.
She is is very rude and a stickler for spelling. This class should be only offered to biology majors because of everything you have to remember. Instead of helping students, she gets upset at them. Next time I will choose a better teacher.
Make sure that you read each chapter before the tests. That is the only reason I recieved an A in the class. Her notes were horrible and half of the stuff on the test weren't even discussed in class.
Professor was not available to speak with and if she was all of her body language said to me was that I should already know this information. I continually asked her about my status in the course she never replied. I also had attended tutoring for the remainder of the semester. She was full of herself and I'm very turned off about that in a profess
This was by far the hardest science course I have taken. I also took A&P at the same time and thought A&P was a breeze compared to her class. Her tests range from very easy (essentially the review sheet) to very hard (not on the review sheet) She can have an attitude and is not really approachable. I ended up with an A... but it was hard!
no matter how hard you try...if you have a 69.9...she won't give that 70% to pass the class. she's that mean!...but just read the book and do your labs. she is hard, so take the class with a friend, you know what...just don't take her!
Must study a lot, has a test every week sometimes 2 which usually consist of 3 pages with labeling. No extra credit. Professor Sealy knows her stuff but she tends to be very smug and rarely cracks a smile.
She is very knowledgeable, but she is extremely tough. There are never ending notes, tests, and labs. Do yourself a favor, if you're a non-major, take someone else because you'll probably fail.
I learned sooooo much from this professor. She makes it really seem like college (its no longer high school!)Very knowlegable and buisnesslike. If you really want to learn take her.
She runs through each subject, as soon as she's done with one chapter she'll test you, the next class, but she never lets you go early, so she'll start on the next chapter. There were a lot of older people in my class, and they had a very hard time keeping up with her teachings.
very hard! make sure you study alot. very strict not lay back at all. sumtimes she has her mood. don't ever let u get out of class early. test everyweek. ALWAYZ GO 2 LABS!!! IMPORTANT!!! VERY HARD CORE!
Hardcore professor, but also very helpful. Prof. Sealy wants you to do well and forces you to know your material. I am a firefighter and found Prof. Sealy to be very helpful and willing to work around my crazy schedule. Read the chapters before class and you can achieve an A. Study her handouts if you want to do well on tests.
She can be very sarcastic, tests are one-two times a week, and occasionally has a poor personality. If you aren't easily offensive, then take her class. I learned a lot, but it's not one of those easy classes, you definitely work in her class.
DON'T take her if you want pass any biology course she is aweful. every week you have a test. as soon as she finishes a chapter she'll let you know the test is the next class i recommend please don't take her
Run away she was crazy she dont answer you questions she looks at you like you are dumb she is stricked labs sucked she was never perpared we would all turn in the same answers and all get diffrent answers!!!!!! nasty personality and only 3 people passed her class out of 28 that started out!!!!! no A's what so ever all she teaches about is cells !:
Prof. Sealy was really cool. She was hilarious. Her class is pretty hard though, I must admit. You get a test basically every week, and there's no extra credit. She always answers your questions. You have to really study to pass her class. Study very, very, very hard.
Amazing teacher. She knows what she is talking about. She has very specific expectations of the class but she lets you know of these expectations. Take notes and study. You will learn a lot from her!
i would advise everybody don't take her class it is boring amoung other things. if she asks a qustion and you not quick to jump on the answer then she tell you to looke it up in the book every week she has test once shes done with the chapter cummlutive it was easy but to me she is diffcult
Professor Sealy is one of the best professors I've had. She's easy to understand and explains things very clearly. If you think she's hard it's probably because you're missing class or not paying attention. As for the person below.. obviously not the brightest person ever.. they can't even spell... sooo yeah
Stop complaining. She's not easy but not hard. This is college- You're paying too much to not be challenged! She teaches you what you need to know to get to the next class. It's your job to learn it. If you want easy- go back to high school. Read- study- learn- grow. Apply yourself. Know more- Be better!
Prof. Sealy makes you smarter about the subject she is teaching. Plain and simple. If I could take her for another class, I would every time.
Just took her Microbiology and I looove her. She explains and breaks everything down so well that it doesn't even seem like you are taking a higher up Biology course. It's very easy to get an 'A' if you do the study guides. For some classes that choose to- she will test after every chapter.. which can sometimes be 2 test/week. But <3 HER!!
Professor Sealy's class was challenging. For those who have taken prior science classes before such as AP I and II and Biological science will probably find it easier. Her expectations are clear and she makes study guides for each chapter. She doesn't have the heart to fail anyone & is willing to help out low grades with extra credit if necessary.
Horrible. Probably the worst prof ever. She doesn't tell you what she expects and then takes of points for your opinion. The lab is a waste of time and she makes it boring and drags it out. Her class is boring too because all she does is read from the slides. I can read by myself don't need her help. she knows nothing about the material.
Man there is a test every time you meet her and doesnt relate 2 outline. me and two of my friends had to drop this class
I really enjoy this class. She makes it easy to understand the material, gives you study guides for the test. She gives you the option of taking a test after every chapter (once a week) or after every 4 chapters. Overall I think she is a great professor and am taking her for Microbiology!!
she is awesome
Horrible!!!!!!!! Worst prof ever. I loved Bio before I had her. So made me feel so stupid, told me I was wrong about my opinion and graded completely unfairly.
really nice teacher but i dont recommend her. chapter guides had nothing to do with the tests, labs were long. The tests were very hard, managed to have an A on just one. Studied my butt off for nothing.
Microbiology in general is a really tough subject and I thought I would struggle. At first I made a few D's on the first 4 tests, but really kicked my butt into gear. Read the BOOK, ask her for the micro cd that has tests for each chapter and do the tests in the back of each chapter as well. I got all A's and B's on tests after the initial tests. S
This is not the teacher to take if you have any other classes. She treats this course as if it were either your ONLY class or your MOST IMPORTANT class with regards to the amount of work. States we are moving too slow and have at least one test every week. Goes too quickly over the material and claims that "this should all be a review"
ctd. Her study guides are semi-helpful. It seems as though only a fraction of the 5 or 6 page study guides (when all questions answered) are even on her tests. And this is only the class I am speaking of not the lab. Does not give nearly enough time to complete the lab practical; rushes everything too much. She is nice but beware the amount of wor
Please anyone if you is thinking about taking a biological science class and want to pass please do not take Prof.Sealy her test is nothing like her study guide or the chapter. She is rude and disrespectful I had to drop her class because I was studing for the test and will get bad grades I even did my research and ask the others and they fail.
I took Prof. Sealy for Biology last semester and learned tons. This is college and you have to do the work. I got an A in this class as well b/c she gave me a great foundation to build on. I always read the chapter along with her notes and did just fine. Her lectures are very helpful and she tries to make the material as easy as she can. Great Prof
Had Prof Sealy -Bio 1005C. One of the finest teacher on CAMPUS. Got an "A". She gives notes and review sheet for all the quizzes; no cummulative exam. Just pay attention in class cause ... all the stuff I've learned with her, I saw it again in Anatomy and Physiology I and II. Loved her, will take her again. A+
Prof. Sealy was a good instructor. Microbiology is a tough course, and requires a lot of study. Her exams are tough, though you can get an A if you put in the time to learn the material. I enjoyed the lab. I learned a great deal from this course, and recommend Dr. Sealy.
Anyone going into the medical field should definitely take Sealy's class. It is apparent that she loves Microbiology. I passed with an A. I asked her if I could come back and sit in on her lectures because they were so interesting. People say she was rude but she just expects alot. But why shouldn't she? we are in college and are grown adults.
Agree with the previous comment. She is great for those who plans to work within health care. She is clear about what she expects from the students. Study guides are helpful. The labs are a little boring, but I believe she can't help it go any faster:) So I recommend her! As a teacher she does her job perfectly!
Sealy was a very EASY prof. She lets you chose whether you (as a class) want a test every couple chapters or after everyone. She hands out review sheets to study along with and everything on the test is somewhere on that sheet. Tests are short and questions to the point and are graded within a week usually.
Prof. Crichlow (she got married) is a WONDERFUL
professor. She speaks throughly and makes sure you understand the material. YOU MUST STUDY IN ORDER TO PASS THIS CLASS!!!!!! I didnt study and ended up dropping the class, but am going to take her again in the fall. She truly loves what she teaches and knows her stuff. I would DEFINATELY take her class if your going into the health field.
Dr. Crichlow is a somewhat nice professor but that is where my compliments end. She gives you a study guide much of what is there is not on the notes, she makes the tests unnecessarily hard. There were about 10 tests inside of class and I only passed two of them with a low B after killing myself studying. Her tests are NOT straight foward
like one liar on here said. I studied soooo hard for those stupid tests and failed a great deal of them. She will tell you that it doesnt stroke her ego to make your life difficult but that's a bunch of bs. If you care about your gpa do NOT take her you will only hate yourself in the end.
I loved Dr. Crichlow! Her lectures were always very interesting and she gives an outline of what will be on exam. I got an A in the class but i worked very very hard for it! U must study the outline inside and out to pass exams! She really makes sure that u know the material!
Those who are complaining about how hard the class was are they ones who didn't study enough. The woman explains each chapter in detail, posts notes for you online, and on top of that gives you a review sheet. What else do you need to pass the class?? I took this class in 6 weeks and managed to get an A. Just study. It's college.
Those who are complaining about how hard the class was are the ones who didn't study enough. Trust me do not take her class. She is not clear at all. Notes have nothing to do with tests. Very rude and practically every day has an attitude.
13 years later, 2021, and I am still grateful for the year I spent under Dr. Sealy. Because of her I did well in RN school, but beyond that, I know what disease IS and ISN'T. I know how pathogenic illness ACTUALLY occurs, that retroviruses are being weaponized, and that vaccines against retroviruses come with more risks than benefits.
