Dr. Brown is a great teacher. There is a lot of material in the text, but only focus on the material that is covered in lecture. If she doesn't talk about it in class, it won't be on the test. Tests are a little challenging, but learn what she says in class and then read it from the book also and you'll do fine.

Would recommend Dr. Brown. She was very interesting. My class was an hour and fifteen minutes long, so it could sometimes get boring just because of the length, but she taught the material really well. There were only a few assignments (all of them were pretty easy), and tests were fair. Reading the text helps clarify & reinforce lecture material.

Dr. Brown is the best teacher that I've had so far at BYU. She was very helpful and her class was interesting and fun. During lecture she basically tells you everything that you will need to know for the tests. I studied notes from the class and got an A on all of the tests. BEST TEACHER EVER!!

Dr. Brown is absolutely wonderful. In class, she clearly explains the material and outlines what you will need to know on the test. I wouldn't take this class from anyone else.

Dr. Brown is great! Not my favorite class but still not too hard. Quizzes are open book, which is nice. Assignments aren't too hard either. Her lectures are interesting! I've heard hers are better than other teachers. She posts powerpoints online too. Also, she's helpful in telling you what you need to study for.

Dr. Brown is so great. I wish she was my grandma. Her tests are pretty easy and any assignments we had for class are easy as well. Online quizzes are all open book and not timed. Lectures are posted online and TA reviews saved my life. Overall a great class and a very sweet teacher who brings the spirit into every class.

Easy and interesting class. Tests weren't too hard. NDFS 100 has the same tests and assignments no matter which professor you get.

I would not recommend taking this course on-line. The way Dr. Brown has it set up makes it almost impossible to manage. I took the class as an elective and it was terrible. Dr Brown refuses to have her students contact her and you have only the TA to use who is not very helpful.

Professor Brown is a very sweet old lady, but the lectures are extremely boring and you'll quickly realize attendance starts to become not worth it. If you read the book, go to a review, and just memorize the study guide there is no reason you should get any worse than an A-.

I felt like Dr. Brown was an alright teacher. However, her online quizzes were completely bogus. They were hard to find in the textbook, and there were multiple 'right' answers but you had to choose the 'most right'. Also, you never knew what you got wrong. Dr. Brown rushes through lecture so be prepared for fast note taking!

Class is well organized. A study guide is included for each day so if you do the assigned reading and come to class you've got the answers/ material for tests. Loved the sections on diabetes, obesity, hypertension, osteoporosis, and I can now interpret a scientific study! ~6 lecture/readings felt pointless. Overall I'm glad I took the class!

Her online class was easy until you had to take the midterm and exam. The Lessons included 2 quizzesself-checks that were pretty useful when it came to studying for the exam. Necessary to read the textbook to pass the exams.

I was pretty excited to take this class, and I wasn't too disappointed. The lectures felt pretty long, but if you take good notes you'll do great on the exams.

I absolutely loved Professor Brown. She knows what she is talking about and truly cares about nutrition. Her lectures were fabulous and very entertaining. I would take her class again in a heart beat. If you attend lectures, study for the tests with the study guides, and go to TA reviews you will be golden on the exams!

Brown was very nice and enthusiastic, but the material was hard to remember. There were obscure details on the tests and the grading of assignments was nitpicky. If you're good at memorization, you shouldn't have a problem. Brown is willing to help and wants to get to know her students. Lectures are full of information, so it's not good to skip.

Dr. Brown is very dedicated to her class and is passionate about nutrition. Her tests are pretty hard and there is quite a lot of reading. Lectures were the only way I learned the subject. That and a lot of studying. Memorization and understanding of chemistryscience is key. It's a tough one.

Dr. Brown is actually pretty funny, though I don't know if it's always intentional. She is committed. Tests aren't too bad if you do the readings (there are a lot of readings).

Dr. Brown is a very kind lady who sincerely cares about her students-- sounds cliche, but it's true. The way she lectured made the 2.5 hour class seem like a breeze-- and note: I took this as a 9 AM class! This is just an all-around wonderful course and Dr. Brown is the best professor I think I could've taken it from.

Would take again

She is a true angel. I chatted with her in her office about her being a single parent raising kids (I think she had 7?) and just dealing with life. She is inspirational, strong, and brilliant. She knows SO much about food science and nutrition and she was totally willing to give me breaks on late assignments.
