Professor Morgenstern is the best I have had in this school. she is very nice, sweet and professional. always trying to push you to do your best and encouraging you. I personally have learned a lot from this professor from "graphic design concepts"-"electronic design 1" If you want to learn all there is about graphic design and the field take her!

Lora is one of the best professors in the EDM dept. She's a very talented designer and loves to teach, which makes her easy to learn from and very inspiring. Her assignments are challenging but extremely fulfilling. You will definitely create some portfolio worthy work! She always makes time for her students even after you've finished her class!

One of the best teachers I've ever had! So inspiring and knowledgable. She taught us conceptually and challenged us as designers and artists. She gives amazing critiques and feedback to push students further with their assignments. As an Art Ed major I've also learned a lot from Lora regarding teaching skills!

Definitely one of the best professors at CCNY. At first it seems like she gives a lot of work, but it's not so bad at all. She's very helpful and the projects are interesting. She's also very friendly towards her students and I guarantee you will learn a lot from her class. The only thing I wished was that she gave short breaks for a 3 hour class.

A nice way to get knowledge about designing real projects from a person who actually works in the industry. She introduces various projects so you can find yourself, discuss basics and even take a look at techniques of other huge agencies. Be ready to work hard in order to succeed not just for the grade, but for your own portfolio. Great professor!

The class was more involved and I learned much more than I anticipated, from mashups to book design. Lora's passion for design is 100% from day one to the last day of class and it really makes the semester go by fast while learning a substantial amount of material and techniques. I would recommend this class to beginners and last year students

ED1 involved much more and I learned much more than expected. Morgenstern's passion for design makes everything in the class and makes the semester fly by leaving you wanting more time at the end. It was a great class that made me feel better equipped as a designer after I left.

Class was great, took this class to really learn about graphics design and to see if this was what I wanted to do and it was definitely worthwhile. I learned a lot from the class and it was only the summer course. It definitely took time and you really had to commit. You definitely get a feel of what it's like outside in the real world.

Super nice but pushes your work so it becomes better. I had her for graphic design concepts and i enjoyed the class a lot. She has experience in the graphic design industry so she doesn't give busywork. all her assignments have a purpose and you'll end up with some nice portfolio pieces by the end of class. also teaches with pintrest and tumblr.

If you want an easy A, this isn't where you should be, but then again if you want an easy A you're probably just a lazy student anyway. Be prepared to put in work, but the assignments are extremely thorough, meticulous and worthwhile. I came into the class knowing nothing and I really learned a lot about graphic design and about myself.

This is a pretty work intensive class. If you aren't an art major, you may want to reconsider. As someone whose major is science, I found it difficult to balance the work load as well as the work from my major. That being said, it was a fun class to take. Morgenstern is a good professor and motivates her students to become better graphic designers.

In this class your creative muscles will be flexed. She will introduce you to a variety of famous Graphic Designers to build up your visual mental library. You will learn many design techniques, each assignment emphasizes a different form of printed matter which teaches you versatility as well as consistency.

I learned so much from her. One of the hardest I ever worked , but very interesting class. Unlike some other professors make it hard and boring on top of everything. She pushes you to become an independent thinker and prepares you for the real world. So you better be ready ;) It will benefit you tremendously.

She is OUTSTANDING! She loves what she does & it shows. Do your homework & do your VERY best. Know InDesignIllustrator, etc. or learn for free somewhere. Don't half step-she's an expert and can smell bull*&%$ a mile away! Would take her again, but this time, I'd come ready knowing CS Suite. Make time. It's worth it. Bring your A++ game!

One of the best prof i have come across. She will push you to think design in conceptual way. Her feedback are hard to swallow sometimes but are very helpful. She will tell you how it is. Read the book she assigns, it helps in thinking about design ideas. Also, know Adobe softwares.

She is full of energy and very helpful. For the projects she will give you the grade you deserve but more importantly, she will give you more feedback than you expect. Whether you receive an A+ or a C+, she is there to give more than enough feedback to make you a better designer for the future. She is always pushing students to do better.

Every week the Lora would introduce new concepts to an existing assignment. This would keep us on our toes and it really made the work more fun and creative. I personally liked this because in the real world, you don't know what a client wants and they can always change their mind at any moment. Great class! Photoshop, Indesign knowledge needed.

I absolutely adored her class, although it may not be the easiest. Some pre-knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator andor Photoshop is definitely a plus when it comes to her work, otherwise you'll have to learn quick! She brought her expertise to a class where being left in the dust could've been a possibility - would definitely take her again!

Prof. Morgenstern seriously changed my life as a graphic designer. I came into the semester knowing absolutely nothing about Indesign or how to use it. I should start by saying the class seems tuff starting out and the workload is a little demanding but I learned so much from the assignments given! More than any other class I have taken at CCNY.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Professor Lora! She makes you love Graphic Design! her spirit is always on point. I agree that she gives a lot of homework but at the end you will learn more than expected.

This is by far one of the most challenging and rewarding classes I have ever taken. If you really go for it, you can learn exponentially. I still think about the class and how much I learned in such a short time and also for the first time in a long time, I was surprised by what I could do. Amazing professor but expect to be very busy with class projects and homework assignments. Work builds on previous projects so missing classes is not recommended. Learning the basics in Photoshop, Indesign and illustrator is a must to pass this course. If you put in some time and hard work the outcome of your projects will be well worth it.

Prof. Morgenstern is my favorite professor in the Art department at CCNY, she's fun, caring, inspirational and knowledgable about graphic design. If you're looking for an easy A, this is probably not the class for you. Throughout the semester you will work on time consuming projects, but you will learn A LOT! If you have the chance, take her! 10/10

She not only teaches graphic design concepts, but also gives you a sense of practical working environment which you should know to be a graphic designer. You have to commit a lot of time for assignments but she always offers you helpful advice. If you really make an effort, you will build a great portfolio at the end of the semester!

Morgenstern is a great professor! From day one, she made it clear that she aims to be a critical peer, and she really was a beacon of design wisdom. If you're starting from scratch in knowledge, it's going to take A LOT of dedication, time, and effort to get things done, but the practical advice and experience gained made every effort worthwhile.

If you really want to get some practice with graphic design and receive good feedback, take this class! The professor is really caring. You'll change your perspective about graphic design after taking this class. Also, you'll have great portfolio pieces (books, brochures, tickets, posters, etc..)

She's one of the realest professors out there if you want to be babied and have your hand held do not take this class. She will teach you alot about the career of being a graphic designer and give you a true understanding of the field. Starting off with zero design experience I learned a lot. Take her if you REALLY want to learn.

Honestly, Lora is an amazing graphic design professor that really pushes for you to give your all and challenges your creativity. This class is honestly the most work I've ever had in my life but I learned so much during the entire struggle. Don't take this class with other studios because the out of class assignments will murder you. Good luck!

Before taking this class I would HIGHLY recommend learning how Indesign works. This professor is more than fair with grading, as long as you show effort in your projects. We worked on creating a book, brochure, logo designs and posters. I would also recommend giving yourself enough time with her projects because the work load is heavy at times.

The level of learning is elevated for this "introductory" class. Although it seems like a lot of work is due each week, you will produce high-level portfolio pieces in the end. You'll also learn a lot from classmates. The professor pushes students to reach their full potential. Her enthusiasm for graphic design is refreshing and contagious.

I enjoyed the class very much and it would probably be very easy for me if I didn't have a 9 to 5 job. Graphic Design in general isn't my cup of tea, im more of an illustrator but I do love digital art.

Great professor, great attitude. Do not save work for the last minute or the semester will be very hard. Manage your time well!!!!! class lecture were interesting, we really just reviewed students work every week. I wish we had spent more time working on our projects in class.

Professor M places less emphasis on teaching but more on giving you very good feedback on your projects. You'll have to teach yourself to use programs in Adobe, nothing too complicated. The projects are given ahead of time and you'll usually have 1-3 weeks to complete them. Definitely a great professor with a lot of industry insight.

Lora is one of the toughest teachers ive ever experienced in my academic journey. If youre willing to put in the work you will definitely learn alot about the graphic designing industry from this course. Not meant for lazy student, certainly not an easy A, but a ton of valuable information and self development throughout this course.

Shes good. You get to practice your graphic design skills through creating projects. My class had four projects. One book cover design, two alphabet journal, three poster design and brochure design, four logo design, coffee cup and heat protector design, and style guide design. Its better to know Photoshop, in design, & illustrator before hand.

This was honestly one of my most difficult classes because it really pushes you to constantly be working. I had this class once a week for about 3 hours and while you may think a week between classes will be enough time to do the projects, prepare much more in advance. She was a great person and very understanding but has high expectations.

She is inspirational, she cares about her class and also tells you how to engage yourself in reality when you go to a job. There are a lot of work for projects every week, you should ready to manage your time in order to finish it on time, but she is really pushing you to get to a better stage.

Such an effective and kind professor! She has taught her students so much in terms of design. Yes, there is a lot of work involved, especially homework, but, it is all worth it. She is tenacious, which is proven during the time in quarantine, during which she reached out to each one of her students to give them feedback and ways of improving.

She is amazing. She reached out to every single student to give feedback during quarantine. If you work hard and respect the feedback you get, youll do great! You will definitely have to teach yourself how to use Adobe Indesign outside of class if you dont already know. Adobe SparkPost (mobile/desktop) might really help if youre struggling

She is a great teacher who is focused on developing students graphic design skills so they can succeed in the work place. There are three or four major projects and a lot needs to be done at home. Time management skills are necessary but as long as you try your best and stay in touch with the professor you should do well.

Know how to use adobe INDESIGN/PHOTOSHOP/etc. ahead of time. If u don't it's still possible to learn on ur own but a lot of work. About 3-4 assignmentsoject. MUST DO WORK/PARTICIPATE. She's probably one of the more understanding professors out there who really take into account of your situation and will try to help you. At the same time she's not an easy A. You gotta work for it but she'll def help you.

Its not an easy class and you have to put a good amount of time and effort to stay on top of things. You might feel overwhelmed with the amount of homework you get. However, at the end you will have a decent portfolio pieces and greatly developed design skills. The professor is understanding and patient. You have to work hard though.

Great Professor but she will push you! Super understanding especially with online circumstances. Feed back is super specific! Encourages students to reach out with problems and gives generous extensions. Five projects total but they take up the length of the semester. You need to know Adobe programs before or learn quickly once you get to class.

This is a rare, understanding professor who you don't find often. She's happy to work with you as long as you communicate and genuinely cares about your experience as a student. I had a really hard time handing in assignments on time because of work, but she was extremely communicative and supportive. I definitely learned a lot and recommend her.

Without a doubt one of the best classes I've ever taken. You *have* to put in the work for this class as you're graded by 3 big projects and a presentation. Her feedback is on point. If you have the will to grow as a designer and the time to dedicate for the workload, you will pass with a good grade! Without good time management or will, you wont.

There are a lot of parts to the weekly homework, however, the class is worth it. She just wants you to do the work and make changes based on the critics, it does not have to be perfect.

She is an amazing professor, her introduction to the world of graphic designs made me interested in the subject and perhaps even a career as a graphic designer. Each day is mandatory to attended, she recommends students create a network among themselves to help each other if one or more was absent but she can be emailed for specific questions.

The professor's class is great, but very challenging. She really gives you the inside scoop on how the graphic design field is, for her class it's a lot of work, but it's all worth it at the end because they made great portfolio pieces. Also, she's caring and understandable towards her students and all of her accomplishments are very inspirational.

This class was truly hard for me as a beginner in graphic design. However, Professor Morgenstern is an incredible n talented teacher. The class is designed in a way that you're bound to learn and grow. The work will be hard, but she is kind and understanding. Take her class if you want to be introduced to the world of design. Very intense class, you will be given three projects and one artist presentation. Professor. Lora are passionate and always give you helpful feedback. I will definitely take her again. You will learn a lot, but just be ready for a lots of assignments, and learning the software yourself if you are very new to adobe.

She gives a lot of projects, they range in difficulty with the first one being really tough but they get easier over time. She won't teach you how to use the programs so you'll have to learn yourself, use the resources she gives, and definitely ask questions. Also recommend being mindful of your time and focus on submitting within the deadlines.

Day one of class Lora tells everyone “get ready to work,” I appreciate how fluid she is about the course workload, I can further appreciate how by the end of the semester most of her students walk out with a deeper understanding of graphic design concepts. Overall I enjoyed the class once I started getting the hang of the design language.

She's a great professor, funny at times, but I highly recommend that if you're going to take her class, then be prepared to do a lot of designing within a short period of time, because we move on quickly to other projects, so just keep that in mind.

This is a great, caring, and encouraging professor who understands you have a life outside of class, but isn't a pushover either. I wish every professor were more like her.
