She is very clear. No surprises. The tests are on what she covered in class. There was nothing I had to go teach myself. Just had to study a bit.

She is such a great teacher, specially if you are like me and don't understand math AT ALL! She will totally go over anything you don't understand to make sure you do. The quizzes are straight off the HW, so if you do the HW, you will do fine! And the tests are not hard either.

I think the people that call her lazy are the lazy ones. She was an awesome teacher and graded fairly, I didn't get the grade I wanted but that was my fault not hers, I got the grade I deserved. You people need to accept responsiblity for your own laziness. She really tries to help you understand and is very personable.

The grading is really killing. Overall she is a very good instructor. But you better be careful if you slipped in one of the midterms.

Go to class, listen to the lecture attempt the homework and unless you a complete idiot you should be able to pass this class. Okay here is the deal…Moen is a non-nonsense mathematical genius. She does move quickly, but her confidence and clarity more than make up for her fast pace. Highly organized, Moen expects nothing less from her students. If you are like me,(and math is not your friend) go to class, pay attention, and study, and you should get a B for sure.

Her lectures were fast paced, but very clear. It was refreshing to have a professor who didn't spend hours trying to teach something useless. Tests were on the easy side, but the final caught me off guard. Frequent groupwork and the quiz problems are picked from homework. Definitely recommend this teacher!

In combination with her professionalism she always kept a fresh spirit in the class by simply being herself. At the time, I took Moen, I didn't think she was a great teacher...but now that I've taken math classes with two other teachers, I think she is one of the best Math teachers at De Anza. She has easy points because quizes are problems taken from the homework and in-class group work. She doesn't count attendance. I went to her office a lot for help.

Very good teacher, definitely knows her stuff. This class is rather fast paced though, so if you have a weakness in math and do not learn at a fast pace, take the guidance class. She not collect homework and relies on tests. Otherwise, strongly recommend if you are an average student.

Best math teacher in my life.

One of the BEST math teacher at De Anza! She makes very difficult materials easy to understand by explaining and giving you easy examples. Her quizzes are 100% based on homework problems (and she always picks the easiest ones for you!) and exams are based on the homework but in different words and numbers. I'm not a math person but I got A+!!

If you do homework you are surely to get an A plus! Although Homework is not graded. She uses homework questions for quizzes! Pay attention and ask questions if you don't have time to study outside of class. She is understanding! She wants you to LEARN!

She's a good teacher overall. She knows what she's doing and if a student doesn't, she will be there to make the subject material as clear as possible. She starts the classes by introducing the concept, defining it, and then giving us examples. Group work is occasionally given at the end of class. Attendance mandatory for clear explanations.

She's really really clear, and a very approachable person. If you're taking Calc for the first time, she makes it really easy to do. Sometimes it feels like she's learning with us because she's always fascinated by her subject. She's everything :) Passionate, Clear, and Approachable.

I took Mrs. Moen's class for Math 10 & 11. Really loved her teaching style especially since Math isn't my strongest subject. She makes sure not to overload too much info onto the students so that we won't be overwhelmed, and teaches the concepts with clarity. I loved that I am able to learn in her class without being super stressed with Math!

I took this class in the fall quarter and I thought she was awesome! Her quizzes are all based off of homework questions, so do it! Her tests and final was not hard at all! As long as you understand the material, and put effort, then it should be an easy A. She is very clear when it comes to teaching new material and answering questions.

Professor Moen is a great professor. Yes, she gives homework every night, usually about 50 problems. She goes over everything extremely well and really explains it all to you. There's usually a couple or few group works throughout the week, but all you really need to do is show up for some easy points. Would take again.

You are forced to come to class everyday because she gave lots of group works that will really affect your grades. The grading is not lenient. My final grade is 59% and I need 60% to pass the class and she won't give that 1% to you. What a teacher.

Great Calc 1A teacher. Although I took calc in high school, I know I would have still done very well in this course even if I didn't because of how great her lectures are. Just know your algebra and be very strong in your Pre-Calculus, and you're golden. Won't find a much better teacher than Moen. Homework is optional but do it, it's very helpful.

Moen is the best math teacher I've ever taken, even people who weren't good at math did well in her stats class. she wants you to pass and although there is a quiz every Friday (as with every math class) the questions are from the homework that she assigns (she doesn't collect it its just there for your benefit). lowest quiz dropped

I'd rather say she's a smart teacher than a good teacher. She can explain a complex concept so clearly that everyone could understand it. Lectures are short but helpful. Professor Moen is an excellent teacher. She makes math easy to learn and her class is super easy. HW is not collected but the quiz every Friday has questions from the HW. Show up to class and do your homework and its impossible to fail her class.

The homework she assigns from the textbook is not due but she takes problems from the homework and puts in on the quizzes (so it kind of forces you to do the homework if you want an A). She teaches step by step and provides a lot of examples so you can understand it multiple ways. She's a very great teacher and highly recommend her!

Professor Moen is an amazing teacher. I literally did not do any homework assignment, yet I still did well in the class. Her lectures are on point, and her tests/quizzes are not there to trick you. DO THE HOMEWORK. Best math professor I've taken in all my 6 math courses. Quizzes are copy pasted from homework. If you do the homework you will get an A. Don't leave homework until the last day. She helps a lot during office hours. Lowest exam and quiz is dropped. Exams had some hard problems but also easy basic problems.

I loved having the class with her because I'm usually very bad at math, and every time I stepped into the class, she would explain the concept pretty well. if you did the homework you were usually ready for the test because it was based on it. Overall she's a pretty good teacher if you are good with attendance and pretty available too.

As long as you show up to class and understand how to do All hw problems correctly, getting an A shouldnt be difficult. 2 midterms, final, weekly quiz, and class work are the things entered. Shes a very nice teacher and is always kind to those who seek help.

She was really good at explaining the lesson for everyone. Aslong as you go to class and pay attention you will be fine. She is available to talk if you dont understand something and will take time with you to explain the steps you need. I will be taking her again soon.

Great online class that allows students to move through the course at a pace that is comfortable for them. There are occasional errors in quiz or exam questions, but Mrs. Moen is always willing to make the changes to your score if you send her an email, which she always responds to promptly.

Professor Moen's online stats class was very easy to follow. The HW was not mandatory but the quizzes correlate with the HW. Not a super interactive class because it was fully online but I would recommend it. 13 quizzes, 2 midterms, 1 final. Drops 5 lowest quizzes and replaces the lowest midterm with the final. Totally doable.

Lecture notes are very easy to follow, drops lowest 5 (out of 13) quizzes, labs & exams are easy w/mild effort. Doesn't grade HW. Free textbook! Very simple class structure and clear expectations. Seriously, take her. Best math class I've ever had.

If I was able to have her as my professor for all math courses, I would. Her pre-recorded videos helped out a lot. The way she teaches is like having a conversation, she remains on topic, and covers things you might've forgotten. She broke down problems and made everything understandable. No homework, but quizzes/tests are as practiced.

Professor Moen is the best! You are only graded by her quizzes, exams, and final. No homework to turn in but doing the homework helps on the quizzes, exams, and final. She posts videos on each chapter and goes through each chapter and each section so clearly for you to understand the topic. Thank you professor Moen!

Took this class completely online Spring 2021, and it was a great experience. Didn't interact with Professor much as it was completely asynchronous, but the content and quizzes for the class made it very managable to get an A. Drops 5/13 quizzes with 3 midterms. I would recommend using the online notes and watching videos, reading book if needed.

This class was asynchronous for me. There are 13 chapters: 1 quiz per chapter (10 questions in 40 mins), 2 midterms (25/30 questions in 1 hr), and the final. Only ur top 8 quiz scores count and if u score better on ur final than ur midterm, it replaces that grade. Use the video notes, textbook, and practice problems to study and you will be set!!

I took her asynchronous class which had a clear grading schedule for all 12 weeks! She is a good choice to take for math as she is concise and explains topics in a very engaging and clear way! It would be great if she had longer lectures that cover most of the topics in a section instead of having 1 topic and reading the rest from the txt book :)

Grading and how the class is set-up is clear. Quizzes every week on 2-3 sections with one dropped, 3 exams with one dropped, and the final exam. Homework isn’t mandatory, so the grades are only based on quizzes and exams. The pre-recorded lectures are mainly intros to the section (good to watch), but don’t cover everything.

AMAZING COURSE! First time, I still remember what I have learned after the course ended lol. This class may be the least work-intensive of all the math classes. Only the weekly quizzes and tests will be counted to your grade. Just watch her video and take note, you will be successful. I never do half of the HW problems and still get A+.

Her lecture is alright, but i do get lost sometimes. Her homework is a lot but it’s option, some of them aren’t similar to the quizzes that she gives out. She will drop one quiz and one midterm, so it’s better to go to tutoring or watch youtube videos to understand or you can go to her office hours but it’s usually at night.

Prof. Loraine Moen's class is asynchronous, video lectures are a bit outdated, but you can speed run through each weekly quizzes on Canvas. She assigns homework only for your own practice. Your grade is based on all 11 Quizzes, 2 MT, and 1 Final, she drops the lowest. Weekly chapter quizzes (10Qs MC, 1hr timed), MT and Final (25Qs, MC 2hrs timed).

Since this class was asynchronous there wasnt much to go on with what kind of attitude this professor had but she was pretty nice every time I attended office hours. All her test and quizzes were never too hard and always felt doable which is a huge plus. She also drops your lowest midterm and quiz which is nice. She explains math pretty well.

Took her online for summer and it was alright. 30-minute video lectures that are really old but really helpful in completing quizzes. Make sure to take practice quizzes from the modules as they are similar to actual quizzes. The textbook comes free on CANVAS or De Anza's website. Most assignment due dates are due on Thursday so be aware.

Wonderful teacher! I had a lot of questions and she was very patient and kind in answering every one!

She is very nice, your quiz is in person. She doesn't use the canvas, everything is in person. But she is doing good. If you will solve all of your homework, thats all. Because all your quiz will come from homeworks

Your grade is based off quizzes, exams, final, & groupwork. There's 8 quizzes & 3 tests, but she drops one quiz & one exam. Quizzes are based directly off homework & you can get extra points on exams. You can use 3x5 flashcard for the final. She lectures well, just make sure you practice a lot. The final had 25 questions (2 were bonus)

Great Prof. She gives quizzes with questions pulled from the homework. Exams are straightforward, she doesn't put any annoyingly tricky questions and there's a bonus q. Make sure you come to class because she assigns group work which is 10% of your grade. Group work is helpful to prepare for exams. Her class is chill and she was nice.

One of the best Math professors. Homework is optional, and instead you will be quizzed based on your knowledge of the homework. She answers your question during or after class. She lectures very well. Only negative: her classes gets filled INSTANTLY. If you have the opportunity, take her.

Great lectures, fair grading. Very friendly professor. Took for 1B in-person. Everything was done pencil and paper. Gave feedback on assignments. Weekly quizzes and pretty easy to stay on top of work.

She is very clear when she teaches and uses a lot of examples which help when studying and doing homework. Attendance does matter because if you miss a lecture it gets a little confusing. All her lectures connect with the last lesson. She only graded quizzes, labs and exams. Doesn't respond to emails.

In-person lectures + group work, try to attend or you'll get really confused. Lectures are concise & easy to understand. Exams & quizzes reflect HW + lectures. Most HW is optional & is from free online textbook, some HW is required. No makeups. Go to office hours. Straightforward and simple, made it easier on my busy schedule. Enjoyed the class.

Took her for both 1A and 1B. She is pretty straight forward with lectures and explains concepts relatively well. Homework not checked or required but recommended because weekly quizzes that are taken straight from it. Drops 2 lowest quiz scores. Final is cumulative but allows cheat sheet. Attendance taken from participation questions at the end.

Professor Moen was the best professor ever. She was extremely caring and would explain the material throughly and went through problems step by step. Homework isn't graded but there are weekly quizzes straight from the homework so definitely do the homework. Exams were super easy as long as the hw was done. If you can, DEFINITELY take her!

Took her async class for intro to stats. A fairly easy class overall if you do some of the homework problems before taking the quizzes. The videos are pretty helpful considering how old they are. I recommend watching videos on YouTube if you still don't understand the material, as I did. I enjoyed this course even though it's a bit time-consuming.

Really great professor overall, doesn't have a canvas page so you have to keep track of your grades. Homeworks aren't graded but are rather asked in quizzes. Midterms are fairly easy, they follow the same concepts as what she taught. Finals are with a scantron and a 3x5 cheat card. Groupworks ~x1 a week to prep for quiz/midterms. Have to study alot

I'm really terrible at math, and I've never had a higher grade than a D in high school. I took her async class and truly tried my best. I recommend this class because of the very clear instructions, the videos are helpful, and try your best. Yes, it's a time-consuming course, but worth the trouble for credit!

Professor Moen was great to have. She's great at explaining with visuals and very helpful with questions. As long as you study her quizzes and in-class material, you'll do amazing on exams. Despite having no canvas, her class is organized and straightforward. Don't be afraid to ask questions in and outside class! She's funny and friendly.
