He doesn't just lecture, he knows what he's talking about, and he wants you to understand what he's talking about. I enjoy his teaching technique, and love for him to teach more classes.

He made Mesopotamia a wonderland of ancient adventures. He made the gospel writers interesting characters. He made Gilgamesh a fun dude who drank with his buddies in the forest and had sex all the time. His classes are almost exhilerating.

Best prof at the UofW hands down. Explains everything incredibly clearly, makes anything he talks about interesting. I never took a single note in his class, just listened, got an A. Needs to include more 60s in music section of culture&ideas3 though.

Absolutely brilliant orator.

His lectures were brilliant to listen to, there are very few professors who show his level of enthusiasm in their material. His lectures on artists alone are worth taking the class. His tests are word for word from the lectures, and if you listen well in class you will do fine.

Seems like a nice guy, and is fairly approachable. It's nice for once to attend a class where the professor actually seems passionate about that they teach, and is willing to interact with students. I would recommend him... the only downside was the final exam - whats with the mixing of the multiple choice? That's just sneaky.

Dr. Buj is such a GREAT PROF! I've never seen any other prof so passionate about teaching at the U of Windsor. He is smart and sexxxxxxy, you can't go wrong there. Buj, u get an A++ in my book.

his exams are not THAT hard. he gives you courseware and lectures on wut is important so you know wut will be on the test. his lectures are interestring and he is always enthusistic. u ppl need to give him a break

If you go to class and pay attention, he class is very easy. He gives many good examples and deffiantely takes the time to make sure everyone understands and gets others who understand to help explain things. His exams and assignments are fair, I just wish he would have graded a few more things rather than in always being the TA. :)

Oh guys common, hes one of the greatest professors ever...he is very open minded and a smart guy really...I dont believe most of the stuff he says--but he makes you think critically--which is very rare I might say. Pay attention and do your readings and you'll do fine ya all. [Keep your chin up Dr. B :)--they dont know what they are talking about].

Awww, so many people here are upset because you have to show up to class to get a good grade. I just wrote a test an aced it no problem, so shut up lazy students. Buj rules. This guy is very passionate about his stuff. Extremely eloquent and word is he's a bit of a trouble maker. He wrote the texts. I still keep them. His style is unmatched.

I thought he was a great lecturer (Cultures and Ideas 202 and 203), clear and interesting. He is not afraid to tamper with taboo ideals and tackles some difficult topics. I highly suggest him if you would like to learn something interesting.

What an interesting teacher! I loved the class format, which was more exploring the questions than deciding on absolute answers (other than those on the test :P). If you like the philosophy behind words, this is terrific! Very calm and fair in discussions, and inclusive of the whole class while also communicating his own enthusiasm. Thanks!

I took both Cultures courses; Buj is that good. Amazing courses (although Part 1 is far more interesting). The course is designed amazingly; you learn the most interesting material. It seems to be an amalgomation of all of Buj's interests (which is a good thing). Beats taking a history course. Buj's a passionate prof. Loves his stuff. Awesome guy.

Awesome prof. Really concerned about us as students. Encouarged us to make an apointment with him. Little tough, but definetly prepared me for future english classes. I had to meet with him to discuss a paper, but we ended up talking about how i shaved my head for a bet. He seemed really interested, lol. Just a genuinely nice guy.

Buj is a great teacher but if you have no interest in the material STAY AWAY. his tests are fairly difficult but he is very helpful. Dont get me wrong he is a great prof but as I said earlier if you dont enjoy whatever he is teaching just avoid, but if you do enjoy the material there is no one better than Buj.

Teaches right out of the courseware. Going to class helps with the three tiny tests he gives, but if you read through the courseware the night before, you'll do fine. Easy MC and T/F exams.

Took a few elective courses from him, and enjoyed every moment taking it. He is by far the most interesting prof I know, not the best but I would consider him as my top 10, look for him, he'll give you the mark if you commit to the work. Bravo

Buj is a very nice professor. He is extremely knowledgeable and his tests are fair. However, when he lectures, he tends to go too fast, and sometimes it is hard to follow his logic or argumentation. Overall, a great professor.

Great Prof. Very knowledgeable about the subject he teaches, especially when they are not really what he majored in. Loves hearing your opinions no matter how controversial they may be :P If you need an elective - this is the class to take. Thursday night - 3 hrs.; 2 midterms, all tests are fully scantron. Entertaining and interesting lectures.

Certainly knows what he's teaching! Don't rely on the pretest study guide. Only about 10% of what's on the study guide will make it into the test. Know the material thoroughly, if you have questions he likes to hear them. Not an easy class but he's friendly and approachable.

Dr Buj is amazingly helpful & definitely worth having! I didn't understand anything with philosophers and rhetoric until he explained it.... a must have prof if there is such thing!

Awesome prof. Sensitive to students issues and quite helpful. The semester I had him was right after some terrible personal issues, he was understanding & made sure I knew what I needed to do in class and made sure I understood everything we took. I may not have gotten an A, but I got a mark I deserved & have learnt a lot from him.

Hard to keep up with but I learned a lot. He's passionate about the material, and very opinionated at times, but open to students' opinions, too.

He is one of the few profs who actually inspires students to want to learn for its own sake, not just to get a grade. He is very enthusiastic and intelligent. His tests can be hard but if you go to class and pay attention they are fair. Don't take his class if you want an easy credit. Take his class if you want to actually learn something.

What strikes me most about Buj is his openness to comments and how accommodating he has been. His lectures show a great passion for the subject, and they tend to stick with you. I highly recommend his classes.

Dr. Buj is intelligent and very passionate. He is an effective speaker, and is often quite humorous. I loved his class, and he inspired my interest in the subject! His tests are difficult, because students are expected to memorize even the smallest of details from the lectures. Hint: Write everything down!

Phenomenal professor... Even better friend. He called me a "stunning puzzle" once which I thought was strange because that's how I would have described him. He is a skilled educator. He is also connoisseur of beauty. It was a pleasure being with him in and out of the classroom.

His passion for the material really shows and his lectures are interesting and stimulates your desire to learn more about it. He's also incredibly friendly and openminded to student commentary on the works. It's always a pleasure to be in his class!

Very interesting course. All tests were multiple choice but included a wide variety of information. If you attend every class and review the power point presentations before the tests, you will do well in this course.

The best professor I've had so far. His lectures may bore you to death, but if you attended every class, You sure will PASS! No need to buy textbooks and he provides a detailed study guide for his exams!

This class is a must-enroll if remotely interested in history. Buj manages to make a 3-hr lecture SPEED by, offering incredible insight, fluid rhetoric, and choice of material. He is very unique with his introspective/enlightened demeanor and does not rely on rigid lecturing. Midterms are amazingly fair, and focus solely on MEANINGFUL information.

I stumbled across this site, after reminiscing about certain types of art i like. 10 years later I still remember what a fantastic lecturer Prof Buj was, and felt the need to counter a couple mediocre reviews about him. You should want to expand end enlighten your mind ... Prof Buj is a gem.

Professor Buj is gifted in pooling together interesting material and presenting it in an unbiased manner. He presents facts relevant to the history and is very pleasant to interact with. Fair tests and manageable content load; go to class and do his readings, he will not try and trick you. I look forward to taking future classes with him!

Speaks very softly but he knows his stuff. Provides amazing and helpful exam reviews. I recommend going to his classes to grab an A but you can survive without attending classes and focusing on the exam reviews (like I did). Exams are fair, just know the material on the review sheet and you won't be disappointed!

Any student who has the opportunity to study with Dr. Buj should consider themselves extremely fortunate. There are many outstanding professors at this university, but Dr. Buj eclipses every expectation. He teaches with humility, encouragement, and quiet passion. They don't make them like him anymore.

Dr. Buj represents the breadth of knowledge and diverse perspective of the old school profs with the care and accessibility of the new school guys. I highly recommend his courses. If youre interested in the subject you will learn. If youre interested in an A the grading is clear and fair.

Professor Buj is easily one of the best Uwindsor has to offer. He is well-versed in the area he is teaching and his lectures are just an indulgence. If you are hesitating to take a literature class for an elective then take it with him. Man is a rarity.

His lectures are so informative yet interesting and never gets upset when someone accidentally interferes with his slides. I took a class with Dr.Buj back in winter 2024, and he was one of the nicest professors I have ever met. He has exceptional knowledge in his field and German, Italian, and Spanish literature. I recommend taking his class, but be sure to participate because Dr.Buj likes it when his students participate. Participation is not mandatory.
