Very difficult class. The content itself shouldn't have been too hard considering it is an intro to bio class. Powerpoints were disorganized and hard to follow. She seemed to get confused when questions were brought up in class, leaving the students confused. She is nice overall, yet unfairly hard quizzes & tests.

She has tests every other week over 3 chapters. She doesn't explain the material at all. She just reads straight off of her PowerPoints. She rushes through her lectures so she can jam as much information into them as possible. You basically have to learn the material, in detail, yourself

Worst professor I have ever had. I am a BIO major, but this class was just awful. She reads off power points that are taken word-for-word from the book and shows dumb videos in class. She sometimes takes attendance. Overall disorganized and confusing. She doesn't seem to know very much about biology. This semester cannot end soon enough.

Worst professor ever, I thought it was taught to never read off your slides. She not only does that but the test are ridiculously hard! Most of the time the test average was 50%. She never updated grades to see where we were standing, if I could I would of steered clear of this professor. Take my word for it, do yourself a favor.

She is a very nice person, but does not teach the material very well. She will usually read the material right off the powerpoint slides and will dance around the questions that are asked. The tests are unfairly tough and have different verbatim that what was discussed in class. No matter how well you study, the tests will stump you in some way.

The class itself isn't horrid; however information given in the class doesn't line up with the tests. There is plenty of extra cedit, but not nearly enough to counter a bad test score. Lectures are long and she reads almost directly from the powerpoints so attending the class isn't really required. You can just look the powerpoints up later.

Dr. Biederman co-taught the class with Dr. Hufford, but Hufford was definitely the better one. Dr. Biederman often mispronounced words, read off of her slides, and relied on random videos of sloths. I would not reccommend taking from this teacher. I dropped because all of her tests were so hard and worth 80 points per exam. She spoke really fast during lectures so it was really difficult to take notes. Exams were nothing like the practice tests.

Slides were just read off of and no extra information was said during lecture. No study guides given out like other bio professors. Lots of material that was on the practice tests weren't on the exams and they were very hard to prepare for. Spent lots of time studying. Extra credit hard to do unless you have extra time. Do not get this professor.

The test are all over the slides. The lectures can help, but for a lot of the people I know they stopped going and their grade improved. Personality wise she is sort of petty and annoying, this can be seen through her emails.

Prof. Biederman's lectures felt useless to go to, as the slides that she read directly from were accessible from the Canvas page. Tests also had questions that felt unimportant or obscure; one I had was on the exact percentage of Iowa prairie left, with options like 5%, 2%, and .1%. She seemed passionate about the subject, however.

There are very few assignments that are counted towards your grade outside of the actual exams, which could be pretty difficult. The best way to prepare yourself for her exams is to study the objectives for each unit, this really helped me get through her class. I don't think I would take another class with her in the future though.

She was a bad teacher. She read straight from the lecture slides and posted them. You really did not have to go to class. Lecture was not engaging. The only good thing she did was post learning objectives that correlated with her slides and most of the test questions. She really likes herself and would throw tantrums if people even whispered.

I thought she did a good job of connecting the reading material to the slides that she created. She didn't just read off the slides, she used the slides to guide her presentation of the material the way anyone does who uses a powerpoint lecture format does. Really good depth to the material. I was worried about Dr. Biederman but found her not to be as bad as I thought she would be.
