This is the worst class I've ever taken. She's super disorganized, either explains a lot about a small amount of material or basically nothing about a lot of the material. I have relied almost entirely on resources outside the classroom because she doesn't respond to emails and has a lot of trouble giving direct answers to simple questions.
Lecture power points are long and if class time is running short she skips through power point slides and doesnt recover the material. Explainations for course content unclear and not useful.
Dont do it. Worst professor to take it with!!!
Worst class ever. The material covered is nothing thats on the test. Homeworks are due before we even learn them. How is this legal??? If I could give a 0 rating I would.
I thought I would be fine as I took AP in high school, but boy was I wrong. She's constantly late, and rarely makes it through power points. Her test problems are nothing like the book or webassign, and even the walk-in tutoring center said the material she covers is too advanced for the class level. Would not recommend to my worst enemy.
Awful professor. Lectures consist of nothing important as she goes on a tangent about small details that have nothing to do with her exams or WebAssign. Her powerpoint slides are useless, and she rarely finishes them. WebAssign and problem sessions are done before she goes over the material needed for them in class. Hard exams. Don't recommend.
Rambles about everything except what you need to know then doesn't have time to finish the lecture and skips to the next topic at next lecture. Rude about test scores, and realizes that the class is struggling but blames it on them. Avoid it if you can because you won't learn anything useful from her.
She flys through lectures and rants about the unimportant stuff. She constantly says to email if you have questions but doesn't respond. I might be biased because my TA is also terrible but just DO NOT take this class.
This class has been absolutely terrible. She's hard to understand and explains simple concepts while flying through complex one's. She is hard to ask questions and her slides do not make sense. All the homework is difficult to relate back to lectures and often is given and made due before we've ever learned the material. I would NEVER take it again
Dr. Del Negro is by far the worst professor I have ever had. She skips through PowerPoints and tells the class to go back and look at them later. Very few concepts are explained in class. If you want to pass chemistry, do not take it with Dr. Del Negro.
This professor has made my understanding of chemistry worse than when I started. She has yet to have a test with an average above a 75 and insists it is the class's fault that nobody understands when the average of her tests are failing. How could a class where 215 people consistently show up to class be at fault if everyone is doing that poorly?
Just read below
Literally the most moronic human I have ever met. Drop the course immediately if she is your professor, or prepare to fail. She is the reason I go to anger management.
This class is such a struggle!!!! Honestly I feel like this class stresses me out and the saddest part is that I like learning chemistry. Its just the way she teaches and makes her tests. The class average on the last test was a 57 in a class of 300 people. She is so unavailable. She will never respond to emails or help when needed. prof is an L
She may be the worst professor of all time. Do not take this class if you want to do well. I have learned ten times more from the textbook that I ever will from her.
Alrighty. This is awful, A W F U L. She won't teach you and she'll tell you it's your fault. She won't provide any sort of materials to help you learn, study, or in general succeed in her class. Please, for your own safety find another professor. Pls.
Took this class in the fall, really ruined my whole Christmas and New Years vibe. Not very cash money at all.
Oh Lori. She has ruined the knowledge of chemistry that I did have and has given me no new knowledge of the subject. Her tests are incredibly unclear and she consistently blames other things for the low grades. Her lectures make no sense and homework and practice sessions have no relation to what shows up on the test. Save your GPA while you can.
She is honestly the worst professor I have ever had. I took AP Chem in high school and I learned more the first day of that class than I have this whole semester. I go to class and don't listen to a word she says, because at this point I learn more by reading the book than listening to her nonsensical, horrible lectures every day. SAVE YOURSELF.
She is honestly the best teacher that I have ever taken. No one else has been able to teach me as effectively or keep me as engages as she does!
Seems to "know" material, but does not understand it well enough to explain it in an easy/intuitive way. Tests have many unclear/vaguely worded questions or ones that test memory over genuine understanding. Do not take if you want to actually learn the material or even if you are already good at chem, or be prepared to learn most of it on your own.
You will not get this bread no matter the amount of grinding, lectures are useless, Webassign is assigned a day BEFORE the class you learn the material and she will only expand on exceptions rather than the most common examples, even though youll never see the exceptions on a test. TLDR: Its real bad.
Pt. 2. After meditating my test score that I just got back I realized that this class was made to weed out anyone who takes it. After conferring with my classmates and finding out their grades I am unsettled by the lack of ability of Lori to teach this intro level class. I discussed with others who are smarter than I and they did terrible too.
Literally the worst when it comes to time management. We always run out of time in class and never get taught the material and yet we are still responsible for it on the test. Last week she ran out of class time as per usual and told us to go over the slides and learn the instruction ourselves because it would be on the test. Avoid if you can.
I have taken AP Chem and got a 5 on the exam. I took this class as review. Not only am I seriously regretting taking this class, but I think my chemistry knowledge is regressing from this class. She does not explain concepts well at all. Top Hat is a joke. She doesn't post answers to problems. Reading the textbook is the only way to do well here.
I wouldn't wish this class on my worst enemy. It is the worst thing I have ever taken, and any hope I had to do any form of engineering that involves me taking a chemistry class after this has vanished. I still am not passing the class after doing all of her recommended study techniques. I would not recommend this class to anyone. Run while you can
Test 2 average (concepts included Lewis Dot Structures, Hybridization, Molecular Geometry, etc) was a 57. Seems to think students in the class can still pass even though she doesn't curve exams. Avoid!!
Do not take! Del Negro is very well versed in chem but has literally no idea how to explain the concepts in simple terms. She assumes everyone has a strong basis of knowledge even though this is one of the introductory level courses. The textbook is the only thing teaching me anything.
Lori Del Negro is a professor who obviously knows what she is talking about, but I feel like she expects the whole class to just easily follow along with her as if we knew the material as well. The tests are extremely difficult and most of the time her lectures don't follow along with what is on the test. Trust me, you will not get this bread.
The material taught in class does not correlate AT ALL to what is put on the tests. Would not recommend having her as your professor for CHEM 101. If you do have her, be prepared to teach yourself the entire course
DO NOT TAKE. she doesn't know how to teach , she gives you literally seconds to answer questions that she doesnt explain-seems like she got fired from UNC for a reason. She flies through lectures; she assigned more hw during a hurricane and told us to teach ourselves the chapter and prepare to test asap, lectures don't help with the lab
Genuinely, one of the best teachers I've had, I have learned so much about the struggle of the female and on top of that she is a pretty dope chem teacher!
Worst professor I have ever seen in my life. I show up to class expecting to learn and leave more confused than before. Her lectures make no sense, she assigns way too much hw, her tests are very hard, she doesn't post the notes, and her top hats are useless. Gen Chem should not be this hard. You really are better taking Chem 101 with anyone else.
My advice for those who have her as a professor is to read the chapter before coming to class, writing down questions and asking during/after class, and going to her office hours. Her class is very lecture heavy, which is why most people don't retain what they hear. However, she does a great job in explaining the concepts during office hours.
Even though at first I disliked her class, she grew on me as she became a better lecturer. She slowed down her pace and I was actually able to write down the notes on her powerpoint. She was also very helpful in answering my questions after class and during office hours, though sometimes there were long lines outside her office before office hours.
The only good thing I can say is she is cares about her students. However, this class was terrible, 100% recommend taking it online or at a community college. You can read the textbook, do all the homework, and still fail the tests. Literally looking at the tests is like looking at a new language that you have never seen before. DONT TAKE!!!!
Strengths: - Enthusiastic Weaknesses: - Notes and lectures were worse than a high school level chemistry class. - Exams scores were far below those of other professors. It's hard to see two classes of 200 students each being the reason for such outlying test scores compared to sections with other professors. - Always behind other classes sry lori
The most irrational professor I've ever had. Test questions did not align with material taught in class, and she would include material she said she wouldn't. When class averages were extremely low (overall test average is about a 60) she would become accusatory and blame the students. My grade would be worse if I didn't take AP in high school.
idk why it won't let me rate a 0.
Seems like a nice lady and is enthusiastic about the course but she does know how to relay information to students. She's very misleading about what is on tests and there is no true way to prepare for exams. The test questions don't relate to homework or anything from the textbook. Sometimes I think I am in the wrong class when I look at the test.
Her tests are innacurate - at least when checking old exams and the keys. I feel cheated by her class. Purposely messes with students grades so she has to curve less.
I would only recommend brave students to take her class. Then, you will understand deeper about Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Sadness, and Acceptance. No curve even though the average score is under 60, at the third times. Good luck.
Her lectures were hard to follow, she didn't explain things well, and she didn't use examples well. Her pace was really fast and she never really slowed down. The homework she assigned wasn't helpful in studying for tests, and I learned more in lab than her lectures.
Lori Del Negro is by far the WORST professor I've had. Her lectures do not pertain to the test, and her tests are incredibly difficult. Her teaching doesn't warrant such hard tests. Our class test average is an F, yet she blames our bad grades on us instead of her teaching style. Expect to learn everything on your own. She is short tempered. Run.
Graded for attendance, hard tests with multiple "answers a and b are both correct," abhorrent communication skills and blamed the class for a failing average. Overall just a bad professor and communicator.
Honestly, I'm unsure why people don't love this lady... Couldn't ask for a better Christmas present than having her as my CH101 professor!
She was nice and would go over questions with you individually if you waited after class, but she wasnt very good at teaching a concept to the entire class. The worst part about her class is her tests, which are way too hard for a CH101 class. Even her TAs agreed the tests were too hard. Youll have to work hard to make a decent grade. Good luck
Mrs. Del Negro was not a good teacher. She made up for this by curving everyone's final grade by 15-20%. Her lectures jumped around a lot and often focused on things that were not important on the test. I had to teach myself from the textbook. Her tests included things she did not teach in class and the class averages on tests were often below 50%.
She is the worst teacher one could get. You will basically have to teach yourself because she expects everyone to know everything, we have homework due before we learn the material, the test are way harder than they should be and are not on the topics we cover. She goes very fast and does not know how to teach at all!!!!!!!
Dr. Del Negro depends solely on outside resources to teach her students. Her lectures are filled with fluff and tips on how to study. Which would normally be nice except she covers no material and instead recommends other resources to teach her students.
I truly do not want to fair my chemistry because it will destroy my plan to apply for a specific college. But as I take this class I feel that I should not choose this class this semester. I would rather wait for next semester to take. Her tests are outside of lecture and textbook. I review all the textbook and the class slides but it did not work.
Terrible at explaining things, moves too fast through material, only way to learn is hours of going over textbook alone before each class
Run. Del negro is a nice person and is very knowledgeable in chemistry but has the teaching skills of a toddler. I took AP chem in high school so I believed this class would more or less be a review but boy was I wrong. Tests are unnecessarily hard, Notes are flown through and she is a harsh grader. If you want to pass, take another professor.
Mrs. Del Negro is very knowledgeable about Chemistry but cannot teach it to a class of 200 students. She fails to explain things in a way that students can understand, and is short-tempered when students ask questions. The only way to get an A in her class is to spend hours reading the textbook and going to her office hours/tutoring. Good luck
If you look at RMP after enrolling in her class it's already too late for you.
I know everyone says she sucks, but this year(2019) she must've stepped up her game. Honestly you need to read the chapters & do the practice problems provided. That's what I did and I survived. Make a study group too & also lots of the hw answers are online already.
Her test are confusing, and so are the lectures. She is a good person, but not a good teacher. If there is another teacher, take them instead. If you already know chemistry and are willing to teach yourself everything, then I would take the class with her. Only good thing is that she curves final grade, you just have to stay ahead of the curve.
Honestly, she is not that bad. If you truly want to succeed. Go to class/ recitation, take notes, and DO THE ONLINE HW. She has curved every exam and gives out so much extra credit. Be proactive! Ask her for help because she really wants her students to succeed. If you are lazy and don't study, do not complain when you fail
Lori teaches this class as if we've all been doing chemistry for the last 20 years and should know this stuff already. Homework every other day, she really doesn't teach anything the whole semester so get ready to teach yourself chem. Don't go into this class saying "how bad can it be" as that's what I did and I regret it to say the least.
Dr. Del negro isn't AS bad as everyone told me she was gonna be, but she is pretty awful. She did curve exams, but the averages on exams were still horrible. Homework every other day, which is annoying. You can still make a B in the class if you get 70's on the tests and keep up with homework and extra credit.
Del Negro was definitely a hard professor and you will have to work for your grade; however, she is always willing to meet with students outside of class. I never paid attention in class because the lecture powerpoints were hard to understand and weren't helpful, so I always went to office hours or tutoring. She does offer extra credit later on.
1 of the worst professors I've ever had. Her exam grades were so bad she curved them and at the end of the semester also curved the class. Average for every test was terrible. So much homework but that's normal in a chem class, plus at the end of It she rounds it any way. In class power points were so hard to follow along.
Don't take Chem with Del Negro. 3-4 homeworks a week, always covering material that we had not had a lecture on yet. Hard tests, her averages were around 50s. I taught myself all from the textbook, and she made it nearly impossible to calculate your grade yourself. And if you didn't get the PARTICIPATION quiz CORRECT, you were marked absent.
Del Negro has bad reputation, but isn't a bad teacher. She struggles breaking down complicated materials, so if you don't understand more difficult concepts you'll have to work to. Tests aren't very hard and come with a 7-10 point curve. People just don't want to do any work and blame her when they do bad. Extra credit at end of semester.
She does not explain herself well and everything you will learn if from self teaching. SO basically if you have this teacher get ready to teach yourself chemistry on your own.
Flipped classroom. Get ready to teach yourself literally everything.
Doesn't explain well and you have to teach yourself.
She's a nice person but goes off on random tangents a lot of the time. Tests account for majority of your grade and you only get 2 submissions on homework, which for me, is difficult to learn from if I get it wrong twice. You get points deducted if you don't get it right the first time as well. I haven't been this stressed in a long time.
Its a flipped classroom so youre paying to teach yourself the class. She has a bunch of office hours so if you need help you can go to those but her lectures are useless. If youre not good at learning from a textbook, you probably shouldnt take her class.
hi I go to UNC. ty for taking her :) <3
Her class was horrible, lectures made everything confusing. You basically have to teach yourself everything, but she gives some extra credit after tests and curves heavy.
She made it a flipped classroom so you have to teach yourself. She has a hard time explaining concepts well so lectures dont help a lot. Recitations were useless as well. We only worked on a project that shouldve taken a week to complete.
Listen, shes a really nice person, but I didn't spend thousands of dollars to come to a school where I have to teach myself chemistry. She is available to help you if you need it (and you will), but everything becomes so confusing when you have to teach yourself one of the most complicated subjects on campus.
Not a good class at all, Professor does not comminicate expectations at all. Still am not sure what was expected of me even after I have taken the class. Lectures do not help at all. Khan academy and youtube can teach you better. Worst experience I have ever had with a teacher. Most frustration in a class ever. DO NOT TAKE ONE OF HER CLASSES!!!
DOES NOT lecture! Just goes over material in class as if you've already mastered it from reading the 75 pages assigned that night from the textbook. Recitations are unhelpful as you work on a group project that feels more like busy work than learning. The tests are difficult and cover things you haven't seen before, or stuff she simply skipped.
Overall, she is a nice lady, but she has trouble teaching to introductory chem students and gives little feedback in terms of grades. Her lectures can be convoluted and confusing. As of now, she runs a flipped classroom that isn't great You can pass if you try really hard and read the book, but there are much better options for Chem 101 teachers.
She is a nice person and apparently can explain things better in office hours, that being said she can not teach intro chem to a large number of students. The recitations are near useless, you spend most of them on a group project the only reason to go to the ones afterward is for your attendance points. She also seemingly can not do basic math.
RUN AWAY NOW!!! This was the worst class I've ever taken mainly because of FLIPPED CLASSROOM! You WILL teach yourself and she does not explain well AT ALL. Tons of homework and the recitation is used for a useless group project. I barely passed and I was straight A's all through high school. Most disorganized and confusing class I've ever taken.
Don't get scared by these reviews. Here is how to get an A+ in her class: -Read and keep up with the textbook: the textbook is great! -Go to office hours: she does a lot better explaining concepts in smaller settings -Do the webassign practice problems: she used similar problems for all the tests -Go over your tests: helps a lot for the final!!
Very good teacher, I learned a lot. She has very clear lectures and all work is useful. Only advice is sit closer to the front because people TALK in her class to a childish degree. She gives decent curves but expect to need to read. Yeah, its a flipped classroom, its college, thats how it works now.
Dr. D is a great teacher. I went to office hours and she answered all my questions very well and even hinted at test questions. Bc people talk you cant hear her. People also dont want to read. Just be diligent and study. Yes it was hard but its VERY much possible to get an A. She gives HUGE opportunities to get a better grade.
This is the only review I have ever put on here. If you can take any, and I mean ANY, other professor, take the other one. I taught myself everything for this course. Dr. Del Negro might as well have not been there at all. Her lectures make concepts you understand confusing and the structure of the class makes no sense.
CH 101 is a difficult class regardless of who teaches it. But I could tell that Dr. Del Negro wanted all of her students to be successful and she provided us with lots of resources to help boost our grades. Exams were hard, but at the end of the semester she gave us extra credit which added a whole letter grade to each of the exams.
Look I know everyone hates on Dr. D but let me tell you. She is extremely caring and understanding. This lady wants you to do well. Do you have to teach yourself almost everything? Yes, but will she add points and give you opportunities to get where you want to be? Yes! Take her you will get a good grade and not have any stress with her.
Super caring lady. Bad lecturer but if you go to office hours she's super helpful. She will help you in any way she can.
LOVE THIS WOMAN! The most caring professor I have met to date. Take her trust me! You have to teach yourself most things in any course anyway but she's the most flexible and friendliest professor I've met.
After reading her reviews on here I was a bit wary to take her for CH101 but I'm so glad that I did. There are short quizzes before each lecture and 3-8 question hws too. However, for every single homework there is an optional 25ish question practice assignment that is for extra credit. Her tests reflect the lecture. Very approachable. I recommend
Flipped classroom. Nice person, terrible lecturer, and extremely inaccessible outside of class. Also assigned a group project that made recitations just busy work for almost the entire semester. At least she curved our class very heavily.
I took CH101 online through the 5- week summer session. Dr. D is a great professor! She is very understanding, offers multiple office hours, and will go overtime in-office hours. She offers TONS of extra credit that will definitely boost your test and overall grade. What you put in is what you get out so attend office hours. Super nice too!
Very willing to work with students and set up times to talk outside of regular office hours
DO NOT TAKE CHEM101 WITH HER!!! Her lectures are not good at all and she expects you to already know the material but reading the textbook. She never explains anything nor is she good at communicating through email. The group projects in recitation are useless and are busy work on top of the homework she gives plus teaching ourselves the material.
Sort of a "flipped" classroom, but she went through PowerPoints during class and answered any questions. We had group projects assigned in recitation, which were pretty pointless but easy to do well on. She is very flexible and offers extensions on homework. Tests were fair and she curved them a couple points each time.
Professor Del Negro is a very caring, but she is not a good lecturer and if you want to do good in her class, be prepared to teach yourself. As a freshman, this was a hard transition for me. The homework is harder than her lecture problems and the exams are even harder than that. She does give lots of extra credit, but they're harder than the hw.
Her lectures are bad. I spent the lectures muted while reading the textbook, which was much more helpful for me. On the positive side, you have plenty of opportunities to get a good bit of credit back on tests
very confusing lectures and you have to do hours of powerpoints before class to understand the lectures each day. a lot of homework and quizzes before each class.
Dr. D is a very nice woman, but as a professor, I do not recommend her to anyone especially if this is your first time taking chemistry or haven't taken it in a while. She is a horrible lecture and expects you to know everything. She has pre-class quizzes and an in-class quiz due for every class. HW does not match with tests (which are also hard).
Dr. D is a nice woman. With that being said, this class is unbearable. The lectures are given with the assumption you already know the material from reading the textbook, any and all work done in the recitation is nothing more than annoying busy work, and e-mail communication is virtually non-existent. Be prepared to teach yourself the material.
Lectures hard to follow, tests are pretty hard, but she gives a ton, fr a ton, of extra credit opportunities. Basically taught myself the material using youtube lectures. Assigns a lot of web-assigns but you're allowed two 48 hr extensions on EACH web-assign, without penalty. Theres definitely better chem profs out there, but she isn't terrible.
If you have taken AP chem prior to this class you will be totally fine. Do all the pre class quizzes and in-class checks, it will pay off in the long run.
I thought Dr. D was fantastic. Most of the people who fail or complain have just never had to study before. She gives you the opportunity to get perfect scores on all homework through extra credit, and gives you like 15% of extra credit opportunity on every test. It's chem so it's hard but I got a nearly perfect grade just bc of the class setup.
Horrible teacher but she does give a lot of extra credit opportunities. She explains chemistry on a level that she understands, making it so students new to chemistry will not get what she is saying. Very difficult class, annoying lectures, and little explanation to problems.
By far the worst professor I have had. Somehow, she made the basic concepts impossible to understand. The worst part was the "flipped classroom approach" in which you are paired up in a study group. You must attend additional sessions to work on group problems (outside of the regular homework). The lecture content was 2 weeks behind labs.
Barely passed with a 71, my grade was around the class average too. Truly a horrendous professor I don't see how or why she is still employed at State.
The class is structured to give TONS of extra credit to boost your grade. This is a flipped classroom, so you will definitely need to read the textbook before the lecture. Dr. D made sure to answer every student's question during the lectures, which made us fall behind, so we had to finish learning the material on our own, which was annoying.
Dr. Del Negro overall is not a bad professor. She is not the absolute greatest at explaining concepts that are completely new to freshmen, but has super accessible office hours where she is more than happy to explain anything you're confused about, no matter how basic or difficult. Also, insane amount of extra credit on exams. Took class over COVID
Del Negro is not the best teacher at all. Her homework is extremely overwhelming and the test does not reflect the information she teaches. She does not prepare us for anything. Make sure to be up to date a week in advance because she sometimes skips around, so you don't really know what to expect until you're there.
Dr. Del Negro is a good person, but not a good professor. Her lectures are very vague and she has difficulty with explaining harder subjects for beginner level chemistry students. She skips around a lot. She give a LOT of extra credit, because otherwise everyone would fail her class.
The only way most of the class passes is through extensive extra credit. I came out of each lecture knowing less than I went in. Tests were impossible compared to the homework and practice assignments
Seems like a nice teacher, but can be rude. Lecture are long, and hard to follow. She falls behind where we are supposed to be. Does not respond to emails. The tests were not the same for every student, questions were randomized, so some people had many multiple choice questions while others had to fill in the blank, and topics on test weren't even
She gives plenty of extra credit opportunities and is very sweet and allowed me to have extra time on my exams.
I've never been more confused in my life than I have been in her class. She teaches chem in the way you'd expect exam review to go. She jumps from things that you often need more clarification for. You will have to teach yourself everything. Extra credit is so plentiful because her class average is so low. You'll have better luck teaching yourself.
She is a horrible professor, the average for Midterms 1&2 were 53% and 44%, respectively. No matter how hard you study, the tests are almost impossible to pass. The tests would always focus on the hardest topic of the unit. The tests also covered way too much information, would be better if there was another midterm in there somewhere.
Dr. D is extremely nice; however, her class is difficult. Her lectures can be difficult to follow, and her tests are hard. For example, one of the test averages was a 44% for my class! However, she does offer a TON of extra credit. If you take her class, take advantage of the extra credit, you'll need it.
Lori was a good lecturer and her notes were always clear and comprehensive. Chemistry is absolutely NOT my thing but she gave an incredible amount of extra credit and extra points on tests (which aren't even weighted that much anyway). She had so many extra resources and was willing to work with you on things you didn't understand personally.
Awful professor. The average for our exams was a 40. The only reason anyone can pass this class is the large amount of extra credit. She doesnt give students a chance to actually learn the material because she talks in circles and is often unreachable outside of class. You will have to learn all of this stuff on your own before each exam.
I really enjoyed Del Negro's class. I did poorly on both exams and still managed to get an A due to all the extra credit and the percentages of grades. She makes me feel like I can focus on learning the content rather than the grades. I recommend her if you think you're gonna struggle or even if you don't she's super nice and understanding.
Dr. D isn't as bad as these reviews make her out to be. She's very generous with extra credit and offers lots of resources if you need help. Gen Chem isn't easy, so you'll have to put in the work if you want a good grade. Recitation is the worst part of the class, the problems are helpful but the mini-projects are pretty useless. Not the worst prof
I passed chem with an A in high school but taking CH 101 with her had me guessing on every test (including the final). The only thing that kept me from failing was the pre/in class checks and the extra credit. If you miss a lecture, good luck. You'll be behind and attendance is graded.... She's bad with technology and talks in circles.
Dr. Del Negro is a nice and personable lady, but her lectures were hard to follow, and the tests are very difficult to pass! She gives lots of extra credit though which is why I was able to pass with a B. If you have to take her, it won't be the worst thing ever, but definitely get a tutor!
Professor Del Negro is a nice lady, but man were her lectures hard to follow. She writes ok notes I suppose, but with how difficult the content is they often aren't enough and she is a poor lecturer. The tests are brutal as well, and in my experience, the lectures do not prepare you enough for them. She does give a ton of extra credit, so use it
Had her freshman year at NCSU and now I am a senior. I waited till the end of my time at NCSU to leave a review and see if by the end of school she would remain the worst professor I ever had. Welp, she did. Chemistry is difficult material but she certainly didn't make it any easier. If it weren't for the curve I would have gotten an F.
Dr. Del Negro gets a bad reputation mostly from students that are going to be having difficulty with CH101 regardless of how it is taught so her reviews are unrepresentative of her teaching abilities. General chemistry is a challenging course because of the large range of topics that need to be covered, especially if you never took chemistry in HS.
