She wants to help her students but sometimes I doubted her knowledge on the subject. She was very sweet and usually on time.
She takes forver to explain easy things. But that is probably because the course itself is easy.
She does attendance once a week but doesnt tell you when...hint hint its usually on fridays
She's just as young as I am and seems intimidated by her classes. Owell, just another master's student right out of school...
she was good but the class only has 15 questions on each test not much room for improvement if you miss a few.
This lady is mean! Perra! She is very not understanding and she has people that act like little minions cause she is satan! Don't take her!
She is a great professor, she gives lots of exapmles and is more then happy to help you if you don't understand, the tests come directly from what she teaches in class and what is gone over in discussion.
She's a really good teacher. All you have to do is go to class, do the CAPA, and do the practice tests to get a good grade. Plus, shes really easy on the eyes if ya smell what I'm cookin.
she is very sweet...she explains things extremely thoroughly...you'd have to be pretty dumb to fail
she is a nice lady, however, she takes a long time to explain things and you may become bored in class. the tests are easy as long as you do the practice tests and the CAPA.
Do not go into this class thinking its going to be a breeze ... or you will find out the hard way. Capa gets really annoying. No time for tests. She is really really good looking ;).
It's difficult to keep up with her during lecture. Grading is fair. If you study on your own and do the assignments, you'll do well. Tests are of moderate difficulty. She doesn't offer much help, but for MAC1105, there are a lot of other ways to get help.
if ur moderately ok at algeb it should be easy. skip lect and jus ask all ur questions @ discussion. jus need capa hws. oh and the test is basically a clone of the chapter review each time.
Lectures are pretty boring. Material seems easy in class then you do the capa and wonder where they got the stuff for it from.
ITS REALLY EASY TO CHEAT ON TEST, EVEN WITH OTHER VERSIONS; SAME QUESTIONS DIFFERENT ORDER... CLASS ONLY NECESSARY FOR ATTENDANCE GENEREALLY TAKEN ON WEDNESDAY OR FRIDAYS; PRIMARILY FRIDAYS
Great teacher, very fair with her tests. If you go to her lectures you will be completely prepared, she even goes over a practice test with you. The only part that sucks is capa, but its not that bad. Take this class.
she is the best algebra teacher. this class is no challenge at all. be sure to pick this class FIRST.
Her tests are easy and her instruction method makes it easy for everyone to understand. Plus she is fine.

She uses words as well as numbers to explain things which is really helpful. She does drag sometimes though. Her tests are not easy but they aren't hard. You will have to put some effort in to do well in this class though. And the CAPA suck
No Comments
She is well spoken and clear. Her notes are straight from the book.If you have trouble there is ample help offered outside of the class and she lets you know about Things like the math lab, TA's, CAPA focus groups, etc. They all are helpful.I got an "
Horrible professor. Hard to understand. CAPA is hard and completely irrelevent to what you are learning. Absolutely horrid class - I just hope I pass so I never have to see this stuff again.
She's a good teacher. It's a boring class.. Her voice is not all that exciting either. If you go to the discussions and CAPA help, the class will be a breeze!
She's really helpful and it's an easy A as long as you go to class and do the CAPA homework. She's always willing help and more importantly is extremely hot.
Very good at teaching math. If you dont understand how to work the problems after she explains them you have problems...Capa is a waste of time and so are the discussions but overall good class
She's hard to understand - especially in a class of 300. Easy A though. Go to class when attendance is taken, go to discussions, and do your capa homework and you've got an A. I skipped all classes between 2 tests and got a 15/15 on the second test.
This teacher is one hot, smokin' ****. Mmmm..She's the sexiest gal I know, if you don't think so, rate her and tell me how's hot, and well compare. However, she sucks at grading, and she can't teach a lick of math, who cares about a degree, she sucks.
Shes a good professor. goes over everything, sometimes she does drag but its only for your benifit. CAPA sucks but if you do well on them, tests will be an easy A. the test's are 15 questions, all MC. takes attendance once a week(normally on friday)
Great at explaining veyr difficult concepts. She's VERY clear in her lectures and gives great examples. She is hands down the best math prof I've ever had. Her tests aren't too difficult and she gives partial credit.
Easy class, but you have to be willing to do a LITTLE work. But it's still not hard. Attendance is taken (usually on Fridays), but she is HOT so it's not bad to go to class.
I wasnt even in her class originally. In my spare time I attended her class in order to help me grasp the concepts which my actual teacher was fluffing over.
Great teacher. Lectures are very clear and to the point. Only problem is that she surprises you once a week with attendance and is a little annoying. Other than this, her exam reviews were exactly like the exams. Take this course!
soooooooooooooooooooo easy. i got a 98 in her class. you don't even need to go to class.
She takes off so many points for little reasons, it's crazy! Even if you have the right answer she takes off points if it's not the exact way she wants it. I recommend someone else for Calc 1. Trust me, you dont want this woman.

She's a great lecturer and is always very well prepared. Don't ignore CAPA, though, and attend all the lectures!!
I failed every math class at least twice in H.S. This was my first time getting a passing grade (B to be exact) the first time around. So clear, show up to all lectures and you'll Ace it.
This class wasn't the hardest but there was alot of work involved. The CAPA assignments suck. Other than that she was a great teacher and I reccomend taking her.
It was def. the easiest math class you could ever take!! I would highly recommend her!
Study the practice tests to do good on the tests, don't wait last minute on CAPA so you can get 20/20 on them and you'll do fine. I guess this class wasn't that bad.
She looks like a grown up rin steven's from the show "Even Stevens" seriously. Anyways other than the fact I went to the class about 3 times in the whole semester she is a good teacher if you need things thoroughly explained. Good class
Very very attractive lady and a good teacher too.
not a bad prof... pretty cool, remembers students from several years in the past
Takes off too many points for small reasons even if answer is right. Gives Note Card quizes unannounced. I suggest you take someone else for calc. Even though she is good with college algebra, she is terrible with calc.
Dont talk in class. She will catch you. Easy teacher because she maps every thing out for you without any suprises.
Shes not too bad if you go to class and the labs. Lectures are directly out of the book and tests are similar to the study guides.GO TO CAPA HELP! It makes CAPA a breeze and helps a great deal on tests. Try to get last semester tests too.
Her notes are very thorough and she gives tons of examples in class. You should do fine if you go to class and DO THE HW!!! Warning: she grades seriously on notation.
Awsome teacher she is very well Spoken and A GREAT TEACHER!
I think that Mrs. Pyle is one of the best math professors at UCF. I not only had her for Cal 2 but I also signed up with her for Cal 3. She has high exectations of you, but this makes you want to learn even more. All of her assignments were fair.

She is by far the best math teacher there is. I had her for college algebra and now I have her for Calc. She definately knows her stuff and gets the class to interact with her. Everything is clear and easy to understand and makes math fun!
Just had her for Calc2 - She is great! She explains things sooo well, and writes down every step. Gives the easiest Q's for tests and quizzes. Just remember to check your notation! :)
Amazing professor for Calculus 2. Made the course a breeze. Just complete the homework and you'll do fine.
Awesome math teacher. Very helpful and makes things easy to understand.

Great teacher, shows every step of sovling things, but CAPA problems are always harder than class probs. offers SI sessions, goes thru material fast but still not a hard course. do capa and homework and it's fine.
Her tests are pretty easy but CAPA online problems are hard. She gives extra credit for attendence so go to class, go to extra help SI sessions, and do CAPA.
Total hottie!! CAPA are hard, but tests are easy and extra credit for attendance.
take her takes attendance randomly so you need to go to class Everything she teaches is in the book and she goes through it step by step. CAPA isn't really that bad-You have 4 tries on the problems &she goes over the harder ones in class usually Do the practice tests you will do awesome on the tests
Great teacher! She does take her sweet time, but its better than being hard. CAPA is horrible, but if you go to CAPA sessions, its like having it done for you! I would take her again! Tests aren't bad and she makes sure you hear everything at least once.
She is a great professor. She makes everything a lot easier because she goes through everything step-by-step. It's not hard to get a really good grade.
THIS CLASS IS REALLY EASY! THE CAPA IS HARD BUT GO TO THE MATH LAB AND THEY WILL PRACTICALLY DO IF FOR YOU! TESTS ARE CAKE! EASY "A"! REALLY GOOD TEACHER AS WELL
Explains things very well, Takes attendance randomly, CAPA does suck, homework not mandatory but recommended, tests aren't bad, the review helps a lot.
I think everyone has it pretty much correct around here. She's not fun or exciting, but she's clear and helpful. I wish she would have had some disco party gettogethers, or perhaps an "African-Lama" themed pool party. Easy class nonetheless.
Ms. Pyle does an excellent job of explaining the problem if you ask her before/after class. SI sessions are very helpful in breaking down problems, CAPA is a good way to practice outside of class.
explains everything very well and is easy to understand. attend SI, they do help a lot
She is very nice and wants to see you succeed. She goes over several examples in class and if you do your homework you should be fine. Just keep up with your homework and study for your tests and you should get the grade you're looking for.
She knows what she is doing. Very clear. You won't get out early though, but definately take her if you can! Go to class and you will do fine!
She's an ok teacher, unless you talk in class and you get her icy stare!! Other than that though she's ok, I would not want that class again, and Capa sucks, but what can u do. I have been to other Algebra, and she seems like shes the best one out of all of them.
Good teacher, does her best to explain, but hard in a big lecture. Go to the math lab and CAPA workshops because CAPA is almost impossible on your own. Test were somewhat hard but if you study you should be ok. Attent class to get the extra credit. And go to the lab to get the points, helps w/ grade
EASY CLASS!! I prett much only went to the reviews the class before the test.. the reviews are in the back of each module and she goes over every step and answer clearly.. never went to SI but i hear it helps if you need it. CAPA sucks though! If u want a good class.. take her!!!!
easy class...she does her best to explain problems...good teacher.CAPA really sucks but math lab helps alot. She teaches right down to the very last second of class but attendance is extra credit. Take her!
Good Teacher and CAPA as long as you make the effort isnt all that bad.
Very nice lady! Go to class, cuz she takes attendence sometimes and it counts as extra credit. Explains the information very well, but you do have to study for the tests. She is very helpful and willing to work with you!
Can't imagine taking calc I with anybody else...she explains everything very well and homework is not mandatory...Highly recommended
i thought this teacher was HORRIBLE!!! she was rude and flat out evil!!! i would never take a class with her ever again. i am so happy the semester is over so i never have to see her again. she needs to get a personality!
If you actually go to class and pay attention its pretty easy. CAPA homework is not hard at all. Shes willing to help. If you have trouble with anything all you have to do is email her and she explains things very well. She drops a test and attendance is extra credit. take this class!
This class is such a breeze! She explains things so clear, it is awesome :) Go to the CAPA sessions and it's even easier.
Really good teacher. She takes attendance randomly so try to go to atleast the last 20 minutes of every lecture.
very dull, capa is easy, SI Sessions help alot, her tests are hard, apply yourself and you'll prob get a B, i hated this class.
She is a really good teacher reminds me of high school! Do well on the quizzes and the tests are really easy too. O and do capa and go to math lab.
Get an A on one tests, get Bs and one C on the rests. Do very well on your CAPA that means doing the bonus EC in the end. Go to SI too, b/c they give you old exams, which are basically the real exams. I did wonderfully thanks to that.
pretty good teacher. explains everything clearly and can help outside of class. go to every class and take the random quizzes and practice some problems in the book and get an A for sure.
GREAT teacher- keep up with your homework and Capa and you can def. get an A

This is by far the worst teacher I have ever taken! She teaches Stat like everyone's a stat major! I don't think that there was one class that I didn't want to just walk out of. It's the most frusterating thing! I can tell you that I could not be paid to take this teacher again. She's the worst
easiest class in the world, you have got to be an idiot not to get an A. I got an A+ on every test including the final and did not even study. As long as you do the review test before each exam you will be fine because the test is exactly the same.
This teacher is awesome. She explains things very well and is really hot. Hottest teacher I have had at UCF, even. I took this class a couple of years ago though. Anyway, just pay attention and do what you have to do and you should get a good grade.
She is a very good teacher for a somewhat difficult class. My main beef with he is that she grades hard! Make sure you write your notations properly or she will take off points even if you did the problem perfectly. Don't feel right rating her onlooks because she is very much with child.
Very easy class, teaches clearly and helps everyone understand, review before the tests with similar problems and online homework is easy also, random attendance but easy A if you just pay attention and go to class.
hardest class of my life.. teaches boring as hell. i'm hoping not to fail the class, went to each and every lecture, still did horribly on the tests.. would rather be basted in carrot juice and stuck in a rabbit cage than sit through another lecture of hers.
If you wanted to teach yourself algebra take this class because thats what you will be doing. Just reads from book and the tests are killer.
Great teacher. Explains thoroughly, almost too well sometimes, which can make it boring. I haven't done any of the homework whatsoever, but I still have an A in the class. You learn a lot and she's very helpful as well. meticulous in grading.
Explains this in depth & is always available 4 help. She really won't take a bull***t excuse 4 missing tests, so go 2 class, do the homework & b there 4 tests. Strongly recommended!
Class is pretty easy. Test were only 15 questions. Just make sure you do all the capa and you will make an A or B
If you have any experience with algebra at all, this will be the easiest class ever. If you get stuck with the CAPA work, go to CAPA Help and they will do the work for you. Drops 1 out the 4 tests and offers extra credit for attendance. Don't bother going, just look at the book if you get lost.
Dont miss class or you will fall behind. Picky when grading, do ALL the homework and you should do fine.
she is so nice. if algebra is a weak subject for you then ms.dunlop-pyle is perfect for you. she is explains everything so well. without her explanations i'd be so lost.
This was my first math class at UCF, and she was a great teacher. Gives extra credit for attendance, and class helps. Gives examples and explains step-by-step how to do problems. Your book has what she goes over too, in case u miss class. Billions of SI sessions, exam reviews, and ur lab isn't grade
Basically teaches from book but gives good examples. I learned u really need to go to class unfortunately. Tests are basically the same as the sample tests in the back of the modules so fairly simple. Good teacher all in all.
If you go to class, it is pretty easy to understand, basically from the book. Make sure to also go to labs, they aren't that bad.
good teacher all in all, if you are decent at math you will do fine. I am horrible so i did not do to well. Go to all class and labs b/c of attendence. She does teach kind of fast esp when she goes over practice tests. Test are a lot easier than you expect so i found myself second guessing everyprob
Good teacher, but boring lectures. She explains the problems well. Test are not to hard, just study a little or make sure you go to the discussion groups. There's also online homework. Make sure u do it, it can make or break your grad. Overall not a bad. I would recommend taking her class.
She explains everything in class....so go. If you do all of the homework, test will be a breeze.
Easy class. Great teacher, the lectures are very helpful. You cannot just rely on the text notes, going to class determines your grade, esp because she gives extra credit for attendance. It's easy to get an A if you just study before each test and don't worry about the homework problems.
Awesome teacher!

She is a very caring teacher who wants her students to do well in calculus. She takes time to answer questions in class and will help you out with homework problems if you ask. Her tests are challenging so make sure you study more than just the night before. Go to class and take good notes and do some of the homework and you will easily pop an A
If you are a 1st time (or any time) Calc student TAKE HER! VERY CLEAR with explanations and gives good examples during class. The tests are challenging but DO THE HOMEWORK & you'll be fine; recommend doing at least twice before a test. Pay attention to probs with DETAILED STEPS so you can REPEAT STEPS & not lose pts on tests. Tests are 40pts each
If you are a first time Calculus student make sure you get Mrs. Pyle. She is very clear and is always willing to help you if you do not understand anything. The test were not difficult as long as you do the homework and make sure you ask her for the practice test. You will be sure to get an A if you do. Best calculus teacher I have had so far.
Good professor for those who are not naturally good at math. I am a math guy, so i didnt like her as much, but she is fine. She goes over very detailed points and tries to refresh your mind with old algebra and trig. She is very picky with notation, the only reason i got problems wrong, save two or three, were because of bad notation. do your work!
Hard class, I ended up with an NC. You better study, because she sucks.
The TRUTH no BS! She speaks great english, but her tests(4) suck. She gives you a practice test and its similar to the test, but her grading system is soooo unforgiving on the test that if you miss 1 of the 4 5pt ?'s your screwed you already have a 87.5 Quiz's are guaranteed 100's but not worth crap 1 per week.No curve on grades ever.Take Pensky!
If you're not a math person to begin with, Calculus will be difficult. Compared to my other Calc teacher, she is great. Her notes are detailed, gives examples, practice tests and goes over old tri/alg. with you. My other calc teacher didnt do any of that! Make sure you do homework and ask questions and do pract. test.
I will admit I wasn't prepared for Calc after such a long hiatus from math, so I inevitably had to withdrawl, but my main gripe with her style of teaching is that she tends to babble and talk extremely fast with lots of small details missed. I respect her intelligence, but it's as if she is trying to prove it to us. Make sure you listen carefully.
Professor Pyle is fantastic! Passionate and cares her students! Attendance is mandatory, weekly in class quiz, weekly online homework and quiz. 4 Tests and 1 Final consist of 10 multiple choice and 5 short answer. She hand grades and often gives 1-6 points just for trying! Always available, great pace, definetly take her!!
The worst teacher ever! Don't take her.
I had her for the Excel Calc II class. She was very helpful and she also respected all the students in her class. She did make Attendence Mandatory. Her tests are balanced well between hard and easy problems, but she grades very hard on notation and it can cost a lot of points on tests. She also assigns online HW, which can be helpful if you do it.
One of the worst teachers I have ever had. If you need to be babied through the class you will love her. She teaches down to the poorest students level. Would not recomend her but to the most struggling student. Grading is harsh. One could get all answers correct but still fail the test due to notation. DO NOT TAKE HER!!
I was forced to take this professor thanks to EXCEL. Either she gives you a lot of points for trying or tears you down with notation. If you have a choice, take another professor. She's hard to understand because she talks so fast and she also babies her class. DO NOT TAKE HER!
All MAC 1505 classes have the same criteria; it's just a matter of finding the right professor. Mrs. Pyle is SO nice and is always willing to help! She was always available in her office hours and would often stay late. If you need to take MAC again, take her! I needed an 98% on the final to get an A...I didn't get the 98 but I ended up with an A!
When she teaches in class she tends to talk in a monotone voice and you can easily get lost. If you are not already goo at math then you you should not take this class unless you want to spend alot of time out of class studying. All homework and quizes are online which is excellent and really help.
She is a nice person, but she explains the most simple things in GREAT detail which gets very annoying. She spends too much time on the easier material and never has time to go over the more difficult examples. She writes everything out word for word on the overhead. Very redundant, try and take someone else if possible!
Easy class if you already know some algebra. Very meticulous in her teaching, easy to understand. Attendance is not required but if you do go, try not to fall asleep (it gets very boring). Also do not talk while in her class because she will stop lecturing and call you out in front of 300+ students to shut up.
Good prof
just take the notes and study a little and you'll pass. i would go to town on her and her smokin hot latina assistant!!:)
Horrible teacher. I was awesome at math until I had her, things I used to be able to do no problem were a foreign language to me now. I went to every class as well. She doesn't put the question to the problem up when doing examples, just the page # and problem #. Skip ob this professor, I'm fighting to get a C and tests are hard.
Luckily everything's online, and that the homework has examples, because that's pretty much how I learned everything. She seems to forget there are students present when she's teaching. Her policy on computers and cell phones is slightly ridiculous. Overall, I learned more from my mathlab then I could attending every single class.
She wastes a lot of time transcribing things word for word from the book onto the projector--convoluted definitions that no one understands anyway. Reviews the simplest of material but leaves you on your own for the problems that are actually difficult. Barely used the book--learned basically everything from My Math Lab program. Tests are easy.
Great Prof. She has a genuine interest in her students learning, and was great for my first semester of calc. She gives 1 quiz a week and there is 4 core test plus the final. Not an easy A but if you try its not bad at all.
Ms. Pyle (not Dr, she prefers Ms.) always makes sure everyone understands the material, even in large, auditorium classes. Though a TA was available in my class, she answered many of students' questions herself. There is a weekly homework and quiz (open book). The test questions are much easier than the homework or quizzes though.
This teacher was a joke!! What did she do?? You use this online site called My math lab which basically teaches you the class. everthing is online hw quizzes and test. wen you do go to class she basically reads everything out of the book onto a projector. SI sessions are SUPER heplful if needed. i dnt see wat she did that the book or MML couldnt
She is a very nice lady, she talks fast though. Her lectures are sometimes a little useless compared to the material on the hw and tests, PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE. 4 test, quizzes every week, online hw assigments , and a final that replaces your lowest test grade. a-b-c-nc-f. do the hw! ask EVERY HW PROBLEM THAT you dont understand!
She wastes 50% of class time writing out exactly what she's saying word-for-word. It's quite annoying. Homework you can re-do as many times as you want till you get 100% which helps your grade alot. Quizzes can be taken 7 times and the best grade is used. Attendance isn't required, I never went and still got an A.
She spent most of time writing out examples from the book, and I didn't find class at all helpful. SI sessions are a nice offering, but a wider variety of hours would've been helpful to me.
She really does want to help but this class is difficult, mostly because the my math lab homework takes FOREVER and is hard. Go to the optional focus group sessions, they help, also don't take this w/ a bunch of other time consuming classes or you will have trouble. I really worked hard and got an NC.
She is one of the worst teachers i have had at UCF. Class time was really useless. She gives harder then average tests ( i would rate them 8/10 terms of hardness). She DOES NOT boost grades in any way ... no curvers nothing .. what u get is what u get.... AVIOD HER
i never went to class, she does not teach anything that is needed for test, homework, or quizzes in lecture. i just taught myself and did the online homework and quizzes and took the test and still passed.
ery Helpful in class. Makes sure you have a good understanding of the material before she goes further. Do HW she assigns, and show up for her weekly quizes and your set.
Fantastic notes! Actually go to class and take her notes - notes are better than the book! like your own little math manual. Tests are ridiculously straightforward. If you know it you know it if you don't you don't. Do your homework to keep up & listen to her hints! I'm not exactly a genius in math but b/c I'm not lazy looks like I'm getting an A!
Easy, but the thing that bothered me was that she grades your scratchwork for notation. Small detail, but it can make a difference on quizzes. Watch out fot that!
She is such a good teacher!!! I actually got a D in AP calculus in High School and now I have one of the highest grades in the Calc class. She is very comprehensive and does a looooot of examples. Do the homework and show up for the quizzes and the lowest grade you will get is a B guaranteed. Always willing to help.
She explains things really well, very clear. her tests are fair and easy, but she doesnt give many freebies.
good teacher she's very clear and easy to understand but she is very hard when it comes to the tests its brutal, she will cut off points for the smallest detail, she expects you to remember every formula from the the calc I and II, she doesn't curve because there is always someone who excels.
Great teacher. She cares about the students and goes to great lengths to make sure that you understand the material. She answers all of your questions without fail. Also, her tests are very passable, so long as you do the assigned problems. She bases the tests off of the homework, quite literally.
Ms. Pyle is the only professor that I got an A in calc with. Her tests are based on problems EXACTLY from the hw and the final is problems chosen from the 4 tests. She was never too hard on me with grading either, any points off were rightly so. Big downfall though is webassign.
AWFUL teacher. Stay far away!!!!Grades on notation which can really hurt your grade when she takes off a full point everywhere you forgot a parenthesis or other various notation. HORRIBLE. I would not recomend this professor to my worst enemy.
there is some truth to the last review - she is very strict on notation. but if you are careful, that part shouldn't be to much of a problem. just double check you work on tests. excellent teacher - explains the material very well. do the homework and go to her office during hours; she's very helpful, and will take the time to work thru problems.
Good teacher. I am horrible in math and Ended up with a B in her class. I did well on the homework and quizzes and studied a lot for the tests. Her online homework and quizzes are similar to what is on the exam so study them to do well. Overall a good professor
STAY AWAY!!! Unless you have all the time in the world to dedicate to this class. She assigns way too much homework. I understand that it's an important subject but her class is not the only important class in my schedule. Studied for her test 2-1.5 weeks before and really for the grades I got back I should have just written my name. ANNOYING GRADE
Look here is the deal, she assign a lot of hw but she is one of the best teachers to take for calculus...DO THE HW and you'll be fine, im TERRIBLE at math and ended up with a B, if u fail this class ur just lazy!!! Tests are fair, but she grade on notations, you'll do fine. take her!
She sucks. She gives weekly quizzes that are not hard but we have to do sooo much HW which I don't mind but she wastes time in class to go over definitions and does simple examples and then when you take the test she gives SUPER hard questions. She treats students like elementary kids. ughh DON'T TAKE HER.
If you're bad at math, take this class. She goes over everything super slow and she repeats definitions and things she says a million times. Im taking pre-calc and today she explained how to simplify the square root of a number...Overall helpful and SO MUCH HW/Quizzes. Tests are exactly from the practice test. Buy the online book!
I've skipped about half of the classes so far because she teaches way too slow for me. If you have trouble with math or don't care for it this is the teacher for you. Non-mandatory attendance. Practice tests/quizzes are identical to the 3 tests + final. Helpful in office hours.
What does she do??? I swear this lady acts like she is the busiest person on earth, THE COMPUTER GRADES EVERYTHING!!! AND SHE READS OUT OF THE BOOK. A MONKEY COULD DO HER JOB. SHE IS INCREDEIBLY UNHELPFUL, AND IT IS RIDIULOUS THAT YOU HAVE TO E-MAIL HER YOUR PARTIAL CREDIT. AGAIN, WHAT DOES SHE DO??? SHE SHOULD REVIEW EVERY TEST HERSELF.
Prof Pyle tries very hard to be helpful ,but falls short. She spends too much class time writing down definition of things like sinusoidal instead of going over examples. There were questions on the quizzes or HWs that were not covered in class until after the due date. We were so behind in the class we only had one review class for the final.
Very good teacher. She takes most of her test questions straight out of the (optional) book homework, so make sure you do that. She grades her tests very leniently(giving lots of partial credit), but is anal about notation. There is a lot of homework, and the final is a MONSTER, so don't bank on pulling your grade up with it as a last ditch effort.
You don't need to attend class to pass it. The tests are exactly as the HW and quizzes online are (all mandatory). Easy work, plenty of it. If you have any prior pre-calculus knowledge, you're better off teaching yourself because the large class size is not conducive to her style of teaching. She always needs correction from her own students, too.
Class is of average difficulty. One hw and one quiz per week. Your lowest score on each get dropped. 3 tests plus the final and the lowest gets dropped. She's not a great teacher and she has a pretty snotty, condescending attitude, but she's better than the average pre-calc teacher, so if you have to take the class she isn't a terrible choice.
She's the best math teacher ever! She goes over the material repeatedly and gives examples for all the problems you will go over. The homework was done online and there was examples available for each hw problem or it would give you the option to work that one problem out. The homework was like the quizzes and the quizzes like the test. So easy!
Great professor!! Lots of examples and answers questions about the homework. The tests are extremely fair.
Calc 2 is hard, but she is AMAZING! I honestly thought there were blind/deaf kids in the class because she writes EVERYTHING on the board and says it out loud before/after writing it. Tests are only hard because the grading is hard. Notation is important to her. Do the homework, attend class, and you will be fine! She's really nice and organized.
Best math teacher I've ever had! I really like how she explains the stupid steps that many math teachers would skip over. She writes everything in detail on the board, and assigns useful homework, not just busy work. She's definitely helpful, and is easy to understand. I TOTALLY recommend her!
Very good prof. Goes over everything in detail and stops frequently during lectures to ask for questions. Tests are very fair, with most of the questions being straight from the homework. Grades hard on notation and I frequently lost more points for notation than I did for wrong answers. She is more than willing to help you pass, just go to office.
This is the best teacher you will get for an upper level math class at UCF. She speaks English and gives tests that are beyond fair. However, she has tests out of 40 and takes points off for notation. So each little thing she can find wrong is 2.5% off your test grade. Her quizzes are out of 2 points, so really be careful there too.
I took Calc 1 with Ms. Pyle. She is the best math professor I have ever had. She never goes of topic, explains everything in detail, and is ALWAYS in the best mood. She assigns online and text HW (really helps). Doing and redoing the HW will get you the grade. I planned my entire semester around her course. Watch out for pop quizzes and notation.
Not sure where the past posters are coming from. She writes on the board directly from her notes and cannot answer questions outside of her notes. Insane with the webassign and inundates you with it. Take her if you have extranneous time to dedicate to her class only. Retaking Calc 2 with another professor and getting an A.
Ms. Pyle is a very nice lady, who is approachable in her office hours. Because all trig classes use an online math system the teachers don't make up any of the hw, quiz, or test questions. You have to be willing to put in hours of work every week to receive an A in this class, but this is how every trig class is at UCF.
She is a great calc teacher. Probably the only english speaking teacher available which makes the class MUCH easier. Great notes, very helpful if needed. She does take off for notation but that just makes up for the rediculously easy tests she gives. Take her if you want to understand your teacher
Mrs. Pyle is a great teacher. I really suck at math, but she is awesome at explaining the new concepts every week and going over every step. She really cares about her students understanding and doing well! She encourages you to come to her office hours if you need extra help. I hope I can get her for my other math classes :)
First of all, didn't use the textbook AT ALL (waste of money). She seemed like she was a pretty good teacher. If you have any background in trigonometry already, you probably won't need to go to class. The tests were fairly easy but you need to know all of the equations. Weekly HW / Quizzes and exam reviews that prepare you well for the tests.
Mrs Pyle is such a great math teacher. She speaks clear English unlike many other math teachers. She is straightforward with what she is teaching you and never goes of topic. There are four tests, a final, web assign homework, and in class quizzes which are easy if you have payed attention in class and do your homework.
For a calc 2 class, I found this to be pretty easy. Her tests were based off of the assigned hw and you can drop one of four tests and replace it with the final. She grades a little too leniently and gives you points as long as you show some effort.
Great teacher, I got an easy A in calc 1 with her. She gives good examples during class and the tests are very easy compared to other teachers.
Easy to understand, willing to work with you, always communicates wishes and expectations. Works well with the EXCEL program to thoroughly teach mathematics and provide a resource if you do need assistance.
Amazing teacher. I had a strong calculus foundation which helped me a lot, but she was very clear when it came to series and polar. Tests aren't too bad if you study and do all the homework. I had never gotten above a 95% in a class until I had her. She is a stickler on notation though. Overall a great experience.
I took her class last semester, and while some concepts are more difficult to grasp, she was always willing to answer any questions you had. As long as you do the homework and study for the tests an A is definitely doable. I really enjoyed having her as a professor.
Very professional. Exams are usually out of 40 points. Weekly quizzes are out of 10. You lose points for notation but this just helps you make less silly mistakes. She gives great feedback to help you improve your grade. She almost always has the answer to your questions.
Best professor I've taken at UCF so far.
She's a good teacher; she explains everything in detail and is very clear. However, her lectures get boring and monotonous. Also, she isn't very understanding when it comes to missing class for important reasons (you'll get a zero on a test if you miss it, no matter what the excuse is).
This class was very disorganized and Ms. Pyle never knew what was going on. She is a decent professor and is very clear when lecturing and explains concepts well. We rushed through integrals and U-sub, which were the hardest concepts. There is online homework too. Our final grades were curved since everyone failed the final. The TAs are great!
While she's helpful in her office, she seems inconvenienced if you have a question during lectures. She has a strict schedule that she will get through, whether you understand the material or not. She just sort of teaches AT you instead of TO you. I would understand her in lecture but then do the homework and be completely lost. Would not recommend
She isn't the worst math professor that UCF has to offer, but she definitely is not considered a good professor. She is organized and has a good lesson plan yet she sticks to it to a tee. She will not slow down or change dates even if she fails to cover something in depth. Examples are worked out quickly and she has a hard time answering questions
I hated her class! She teaches the examples, not the actual concepts so it does not help you grasp the underlying reasonings. Also, she is disorganized and her class is extremely boring. Her homework is online and it's ridiculous. I find that it does nothing to help me understand what she's teaching. The recitation? Couldnt understand the TA.
There are 2-3 tests and the final, which make up 75% of your grade, and are incredibly tough. There are 2-3 long HW assignments due each week through WebAssign. She doesnt explain calc well for those who have never taken it before, I learned more from a few YouTube videos. You have to go to class everyday b/c she gives daily quizes. Good Luck!
I have never taken a math course where the teacher actually wasnt skilled at her job. She barely makes an effort and her tests are pretty tough. Good luck on the final as she didnt even recap what would be on the last exam.
She is a nice lady, but her lectures are boring and monotonous. The tests are tough because every detail counts, and the amount of homework each week is a bit too much for my liking. Still, she helps you when you ask and she is easy to understand. The class is doable. If you do the recommended problems she gives you, you should pass the course.
Do not take her unless there is no other choice. I had her for two semesters and ended up having to retake the second class. She doesn't give ANY extra credit and there is a quiz every class for credit that accounts for your attendance. Lots of homework and the tests are near impossible.
She is getting paid bank to not know how to do your job correctly. This is why she is called a professor and not a teacher because she cannot teach. 5 credit class and a $1000 down the drain. It isn't fair for the students that are stuck in this class because of the weight who have to get an NC or big hit to their GPA. Worst math professor to date.
Lectures were pretty boring. Only 4 tests and the final made up 75% of your grade. Should be manageable if you're good at tests
She's a great prof who makes calc 2 simple to follow. Her test are relatively easy but she grades notation like a hawk. The easiest way to make sure you're doing everything correctly is to go to her office hours. She's super helpful and will clearly explain everything you want to know
Prof. Dunlop-Pyle was an amazing teacher. Her lectures are interesting and teaches you things you need to know. Watching her lectures only is not enough to do well on her test. Read the chapter before watching her lecture, download her ppt and use it while watching her lectures to better reinforce important concepts. No EC in this class though.
She tries to make things easier, but anything that comes from her mouth confuses me more.
Gives you exactly what you need in her lectures with examples that barely deviate from test questions. She does not dive deep into concepts, but she will open up new lessons with some conceptual connection. If you attend lecture, take good notes, and do the homework problems, then chances are you'll pass. Make sure you have prereq knowledge down.
It's a teach it yourself type of class, and all she does is problems in class. What she covers in class is completely different than what you see in your homework and tests, so she doesn't prepare you that well. Take someone else.
NEVER AGAIN. :((((( Just really a horrible way of teaching in my point of view. Gonna have to retake it.
The thing about this professor is that rather than teach you to the problems you're going to see, she focuses more on the concepts and understanding of how it works. Unfortunately, this method does not help you succeed on her tests. You really have to teach yourself. Practice as much as you can. Only 4 tests all semester but weigh a lot
She's amazing. Go to class, pay attention, and take good notes. Go to the math lab for help. Use her practice exams and the extra practice problems she gives you for the tests. She's a very conceptual teacher, but always connects a process to a concept that she is teaching. Don't forget your clicker. Textbook not needed, but useful.
She wasn't terrible but calculus is one of those classes that you really need to put in work for, her tests aren't bad, she posts reviews that are almost the same as the actual test. So do those and do the optional HW assignments thats on the syllabus cause thats what the tests are based off of. The final replaces the lowest test grade and do HW!!
She was nice and helpful after class, but her lecture style really did not prepare me for the homework or tests. I used the math lab a lot which helped, I just feel like if the lectures where a bit more thorough it could have been more helpful. Alright overall.
I really did not like this professor. She over explained everything so that it was hard to understand, her lectures are very boring, treats students like they are still in high school. She does not care if you pass. The tests are very hard for an algebra class. Would not recommend. If you can get someone else, DO IT
Dr. Pyle is one of the best professors at UCF. I had her for Calc 3 and my experience in her class was a good one. Do the homework as it is pretty indicative of what is going to be on quizzes and exams. Three midterms. Quizzes every week, drops two of them at the end and the final score (if higher) replaces your lowest test score. Excellent prof.
I wasn't very strong in Calculus, but I felt like Dr. Pyle made it much more harder than it needed to be. I took it a 2nd time without her and got an A. Very strict grader on the short answer test questions. She drastically changed how the final was formatted compared to the midterms right before it and didn't give a useful final exam review guide
Really liked her as my professor. The content was boring, but she made it clearer. We had a quiz each week, and lectures are long, so you should come to class. She encourages coming to office hours. Drops two lowest homework grades, two lowest quiz grades, and replaces lowest test grade with final exam grade if higher, so breathing room in grades.
Very good at teaching and explaining material. Is very generous when grading tests except when it comes to notation errors. Tests are pretty easy, although not very helpful for the final since it is not made by her and is more difficult.
Ms. Pyle seems nice I guess but a lot of times I was bored during lecture. This class was so easy and her notes are really detailed if you need them. She hates when people are on their phones and will call them out in the middle of lecture. Exams are super easy and recitation is a joke.
She's very generic. Nothing unique about her. She lectures well, the recitation classes are very easy, and is very bothered by people using their phones or talking. Feels a bit like a high-school teacher, but knows the material perfectly.
I took her for a combo trig and precalculus class and calc 1. Her lectures can be really boring and long, but she gives really detailed notes. She gives a lot of homework, which can be kind of annoying, but they're good practice. Good foundation for later math classes
Lots of homework, but it's easy. She gives practice problems but you don't need to do those if you don't want to. WileyPlus is the homework service she used with us, and it's an okay but inconsistent homework system. Sometimes the homework would be 5 problems that night, sometimes 25. Repeat the question until it gives the step-by-step solution.
She is very careful explaining things so that the class understands. Venturing into vectors and 3-space, this was greatly appreciated. She is very considerate also; She makes practice tests and answers homework questions every class.
She is very good. Does a great job at explaining things simply
She's boring and dry, but is thorough in her teaching. Goes over mostly easier problems than what is on WileyPlus, but content isn't terribly difficult. 3 tests and a final, grade in class will mainly depend on tests.
Really great for Calc 2, she KNOWS what she's teaching. She does seem to care about how you're doing in the class and will answer any questions you have. She also often posts prerequisite material that you need for the section, in case you've forgotten how to do some things. All in all, I feel as though she is a great professor to take for Calc 2.
She is very nice. But a tough grader. Takes off points if there is ANY formatting error. Forgot to simply a radical? Points off. Forgot to put brackets? Points off. But in general, she is very clear. Always asks if anyone wants to go over homework questions. Makes you do some problems in class. Goes over quizzes IMMEDIATELY after you take them.
Grades too harshly. In my previous classes, my professors would always give me partial credit for making mistakes or even attempting the problems to begin with. Professor Pyle loves to give 0 points for things. I have never gotten such low test scores on my math exams. She stresses me out a lot, but is a nice person at least.
Very clear and precise lectures. Exams are as difficult as the homework she assigns. Gives partial credit for correct work and gives plenty of optional problems for practice. Do not need the book, haven't even used it once.
I've taken Lori for both calc 2 and 3 now, and she is one of the best professors in the UCF math department. She cares about how well you're learning the material and will do her best to help you understand.
She really cares about her students, going out of her way to post tons of optional practice problems, practice tests, adjusting office hours for finals week, etc. I didn't really like her teaching style too much but her effort made up for it.
Her grading is soooo tough. She will take off points for the tiniest things even though if the answer is correct so you really have to be careful giving tests. The class itself was veryyyy fast paced and I knew some of the stuff from before so I survived but I feel like this class is not at all an easy A. She's nice tho. Will help u out i guess?
Uses I-clicker in class; policies regarding it are ridiculous. I missed a portion of a class session (I accidentally slept in) and missed 2 of the 3 clicker questions. I arrived just in time for the last one (and got it right). My grade dropped a full letter grade even though I do well on homework, quizzes, and tests. Seems unfairly weighted.
Tests are graded off the answer AND notation. She takes points off for any little detail. The tests in my class consisted of only nine questions, 5 of which were multiple choice (no partial credit). I got only one question partially wrong on the first exam and received a B on the test. The professor made me feel stupid when I tried to talk to her.
She's a calc professor, i can't say too much. No matter how great she is we all hate calc. But she was fine tbh, but gave good advice on how to succeed
PLEASE READ THIS!!!!! I took Calc 1 in high school and I passed with an A. I took Calc for business and also got an A. Please save yourself and do not choose Lori Dunlop-Pyle as your professor! Shes the toughest grader ever, the homework is too hard and I got a 71 and a 73 on the first 2 exams and the final was impossible.
Decent professor.
I took calculus 1 before so I went in with prior knowledge but Very good lecturer. I understood what she communicating. However the tests were not curved and she was very strict about notation. And attendance was mandatory with clicker questions. However she prepared you for the tests and was very clear on what was needed to pass.
Professor Dunlop-Pyle's Calc 1 class was a breeze! I really enjoyed her lectures and the manner with which she explained concepts. I will say, however, that she uses iClickers in her lectures which were kind of frustrating at times. Overall, I'd recommend her for Calc 1, especially if it is your first time interacting with this level of Calculus :)
First time taking calculus and she made it easier than i anticipated. You definitely need to put time into doing textbook problems for practice and doing her review questions. Understand them! The only thing is she put some conceptual problems on the final rather than math problems (which is what we were tested on) that i wasn't prepared for.
IClickers and exam are harder than homework. Book problems and extra practice is needed to do well.
Attendance is mandatory and grading for tests is very tough. Though, Professor Pyle is an amazing professor when it comes to teaching the material. Stay on top of the homework and understanding the material and this class should be no worries. She will definitely prepare you for the higher math.
I took Professor Pyle's College Algebra class the semester before and had very little experience in trig and pre-calc before taking this combination class. She teaches very well. But, attendance is mandatory and when she grades test, you have to show your work and she takes off points for any error in the work. Good class, but you have to work hard
Knows what shes doing and happy to give help to anyone who asks. Homework load is ridiculous, sometimes taking days to finish one assignment so plan accordingly. Tests are on exactly what she lectures on and drops lowest quiz grade. Difficult class and quickly paced, but if calc is required for you, I would take Dunlop.
I understand Calc is supposed to be hard, but MAN it's like she makes it harder. She gives great resources for help. However, we're given homework before we even learn the lesson?! I understand it helps, but I'm already spending 2 hours on the homework AFTER the lesson almost everyday! Math is my strong suit and I still felt scared about failing.
Very specific with how she grades notation. Really focuses on teaching her lectures, provides good examples in class. She will answer questions when asked. Test are more difficult than the homework. Homework is pretty excessive. She'll replace the lowest test score with the final score if its higher. Make sure to go to class. Great teacher overall.
Grades notation very heavily, but is one of the most clear lecturers I've had at UCF so far. Feedback on quizzes is helpful to do well on tests. Quizzes are very alike tests. Gives good partial credit on tests.
Lost of assignments. I need to work on this course's materials almost every day. Assignments really make me feel sad after finish it (don't want to do anything, just want to sit there and empty my mind. Harder than other high-level courses I have ever done (Real Analysis, PDE, etc.).
Okay. This class itself is a ridiculous amount of work. You have to put in your hours. I did almost every homework question, but it's not enough practice to pass the test. Go to tutoring and every resource you have. Don't forget the dx or limit sign. I did poorly on exams which are like 70% of your grade so good luck. practice at least 2hrs/day
She was a very good math teacher but gave lots of homework. It was a 5 credit hour course so it is understandable. As long as you watch the videos she makes and write good notes then it is an easy class.
Professor Lori is a nice, and caring, but she a heavy grader, and she give more homework than necessary. No extra credit, 4 total exams, multiple quizzes, discussion posts, pre-homework, web-assigned homework and yes, she grade poll question on zoom too. If you up for the challenge, take her course; otherwise, take a different course.
She is an amazing professor and explains the subject extremely well. It is homework heavy so this class will take up a majority of your time.
Prof Pyle is very smart and knowledgeable about calculus. That being said, this is the hardest class I've ever taken. I don't know if its compensation for an online course, but man did regret not swapping profs the first week. It just kinda seems like she makes it harder than it needs to be. I end up losing like half credit for notation error.
online due to covid. She knows how to teach the material, but expects a lot of work for just a precal class. 5 credit class and had homework every other day. I was forced to take her because of the EXCEL program and did not enjoy it. Only take this class if you have to. it will take up all of your time and energy.
Very organized. Expects a lot of commitment, which means lots of hw & reviewing topics before the lessons to get participation points. If you miss 2 hw, can't get NC. No late work, no extra credit, no curves; only drops a few assignments. If online, she uses Honorlock. Don't recommend if you struggle w/ motivation & procrastination. itsoverwhelming
If I could give her a negative star rating, I would. Worst teacher I've ever had... arrogant, rigid, and condescending. She overloads homework and makes things much more difficult than they need to be. UCF needs to fire this instructor.
She is very knowledgable about calculus and can explain it very well. As a teacher, she is one of the best. However, as a classroom manager, not too great. Quizzes were pretty easy but I found myself losing whole points on a 10 point quiz for forgetting one dx which is ridiculous. On one exam, I missed 4/12 points on a question for notation
Prof Pyle is very knowledgeable in her field, however, her explanations are difficult to understand and make things harder than they have to be. Average 2-3 hours of hw every other day, so I recommend doing half of the assignment each day. If you do the hw before class, you'll do well and understand... if not, good luck. Her TA's are very helpful!
This is definitely not an easy class by any means but Mrs. Pyle does her best to make it as seamless as possible. Homework was extremely time consuming but at least she used a free textbook. Be prepared to teach yourself first. She records lectures for you to watch before doing homework and then she covers questions on material during the class.

Worst professor I've ever had, hands down. Arrogant, Ridiculous amount of homework. Avoid her at all costs.
Drop EXCEL since they will make you take this class, the program does nothing for you! I spent 24+ hours a week doing all her pointless online homework. She made it super stressful during the lecture and took multiple choice for grades every 15 min. She did 3 problems in 2 hours and they were the simplest ones. Just torture, I learned the hard way.
Prof Dunlop-Pyle is the best math teacher Ive ever had. While there is lots of HW, its all good practice. Exams and weekly quizzes felt fair, with no trick questions. Panopto videos were provided to watch before class, made concepts a lot clearer. She is also kind, responsive, smart, and genuinely a good teacher. I highly recommend her.
Professor Pyle was a great teacher and was very accessible outside of class for questions. The tests are very similar to the homework and reviews, there is a lot of homework given, but it helps you to succeed in the class.
She is a professor who cares about her students learning. I 100% recommend her. You will have a lot of work but you WILL learn! You have to do Knewton homework assignments every week, I had 3 zoom calls per week with her and we had 3-5 graded polling questions every class. Pay attention. Watch the videos before class and take notes. Tests are fine.
This professor was amazing and I loved her teaching style! The pre-class videos were very helpful for introducing new material, and her lecture slides included many examples that she worked through during class. She explains concepts and problem solving methods well. There is a lot of homework, but they are helpful for practicing the material.
Weekly quizzes are given based off of powerpoint slides that get skipped in class lectured because "we should remember this from the homework." Homework is to be completed before we learn it in class, so the class is essentially taught online by ourselves and recycled videos that are uploaded.
Mrs. Pyle is a fantastic Pre-Calc teacher. The class is five credit hours and she makes you work hard for your grade. Make sure to read the textbook, watch panopto videos, and take notes BEFORE class! She cares about her students and makes it very clear in the syllabus what you need to do to succeed.
She is a good teacher overall, but her teaching style is not the best IMO. She wants you to learn the material and do the HW the night before she lectures. The tests are 50%, HW/quizzes are like 2-10%, final 15%. She is a tough grader and rarely gives partial credit. Be ready for HW every other day that will take up a good chunk of your time.
She is a lovely professor. It was my third time taking Calc 2. If she saw that were struggling with prereq material she made sure to provide us with resources. Her panapto video helped. Lots of quizzes too. Do practice problems.
I pride myself on being good at math, but this teacher made me take depression pills on a weekly basis. My parents were worried about my well-being, and they even told me to drop out of the class. If you want to save your time and soul don't take her class. She is not a bad teacher tho.
Lectures were useless, expects you to learn using videos she recorded 2 years ago from the pandemic to learn. Basically an online class. Her practice tests are old and outdated so she makes it confusing to complete them. Expect material that you learned months ago on each test as the material and tests don't line up with each other. Poor experience
i was scared of calc 2, but i don't think i could have found a better professor. for lecture she reads off the powerpoint slides and then does an example problem, followed by having us try a problem. there's polling questions in class, and once a week a quiz... but the quizzes are not bad at ALL. very fair exams too. and she gives partial credit :)
She was good at explaining things in office hours but lectures were useless (you still had to go for password-protected clicker questions). She'd do easiest examples in class and then give hours of hw of harder problems. Also you had to teach yourself because the hw for a topic was due before the class where she covers it. Had her in mixed mode.
She's fair and works to make sure the students understand the material that she's going over. She takes time to make sure no one has any questions before moving on. The HW is time consuming but its the same homework the everyone in Calc 2 has to do. Super stickler for notation on tests and quizzes
She aight i don't like how she teaches so might just fail this final
Dunlop-Pyle is a great professor. Her class has an easy-to-follow structure with helpful videos and reviews. She's really nice and genuinely wants students to succeed -- and provides resources in order to do so. Her tests are graded in a tough manner but they're usually not too hard as long as you actually take your time and effort to study.
The course is 5 credits so DO NOT take this in a heavy course load. Averaged around 5 homeworks a week, each being 10minutes - 2 hours depending on the material. In class questions answered through canvas, WATCH VIDEOS BEFORE CLASS. Drops 1 Test, 3 Homeworks, and 3 In class questions. Office hours are very helpful. Will take up most of your time.
Professor Pyle makes her class more difficult than it needs to be. She is dismissive to students and will answer questions with as little information as possible. She is an incredibly harsh grader on tests and takes off points for not doing it the exact way she wants. If you are not naturally good at math, you will struggle.
Professor Pyle was great. Her lectures were a mix of problems that she would do and then problems we would do by ourselfs with help from her and the TA. There was a lot of homework and it was considerably more difficult than her quizzes and exams but I found that helpful. Overall a great class and she made calc II very easy.
Tests and grades are fair and tons of help is available, but there's a ton of work to do and you'll be busy. She expects you to teach yourself the material and complete the homework before lectures, but attendance is mandatory, meaning you will waste time during lectures listening to material you already know.
Tons of homework and she teaches through the homework. She is an extremely tough grader and is very boring in class. I recommend to skip this course and the excel program and take trig and pre cal at the same time just separately.
I respond greatly to her style of teaching, but otherwise the class was extremely difficult. Homework was due every MoWeFr, sometimes even 2 on the same day. The homework was about 30 questions long & she expects you to start 3 days in advance. I feel prepared for calc in knowing the material, but she needs to change the way she gives assignments.
The best math teacher I have ever had. She has everything laid out in canvas all the assignments about two weeks ahead of time. Her office hours are very accessible. Test weighs a lot though but you receive a lot of feedback that should indicate how you will perform in the test. The tests are also easier than the homework.
Pyle does a great job of providing students with several resources to learn the content. This caters to different learning styles and ensures success for all students. She is very specific when it comes to notation which can cause you to lose extra points. Office hours are not the most flexible, but she will work with you to find time if needed.
Homework is 2-3 assignments of 30 questions each and very tough material to do before class. She also expected us to watch the 6-10 lecture videos before classes and teach it to ourselves, is that not her job? Tests were extremely hard and she takes points off for literally every single thing she can. Acts like she is forced to be at office hours.
Homework was 2-3 assignments of 30 questions due per day (M,W,F). Also expects us to watch 6+ videos before class and teach ourselves, is that not literally her job? Lectures are boring. Tests are extremely hard and she takes points off for every single thing. Acts like she is forced to be at office hours.
Pyle is a great teacher overall! Lots of work so make sure to stay on top of it, but it is five credit hours so it makes sense. Make sure to watch the Panopto videos before class and take notes. That's what I did. I never used the textbook once and got an A. Tests are definitely easier than the homework and she drops the lowest of the 4 tests.
Great professor, hard content. Kind of just reads off slides.
A really great professor. Does a really great job explaining all the topics in lectures. She is super well organized, and her class runs flawlessly. I wish I had more time this semester, so I could have gotten a better grade. The only downside is the homework is quite time-consuming.
Start taking SSRIs now...they take 6 weeks to kick in. Had this prof and she literally has given me nightmares years afterwards. Took the class again with another prof and got an A, passed every class on my first try except this one in engineering. Terrible, rude, and overall an "avoid at all costs professor". Ruined my life for 4 months.
Great professor, really caring and wants to help everyone get an A. Go to her office hours and you'll 90's on tests, I went a few times and there was like no one there. Nick was the TA for me and he was a GOAT. Tests weigh a lot and are a bit hard, as long as you study it's fine. I only showed up on Friday's for recitations.
Connects what you are learning about to Calc 1 and later so you understand how it connects which is helpful. Also, the textbook is free which is a massive weight lifted off my shoulders. You can tell that she cares about the class. If you work to understand the concepts, you will do well. 10/10. I wish I could take Calc 2 with her in the summer.
The course is VERY difficult and time consuming. She grades tests down to every point and makes it very hard to do well. The hours spent on homework do not match the content on the tests. If taking this class make sure to have tons of time to study to preform well.
LOTS OF HOMEWORK for this course, it's a five credit course and she makes you work for it, I wouldn't recommend taking this class if you have other options especially if you are a freshman. Tests are 50% of your grade and taken on average. She's a very kind and caring professor but the class sucks.
SO MUCH HOMEWORK. I could barely focus on any of my other classes. Do not take this class unless you have good work ethic because the lack of studying will catch up to you :(
Professor Pyle is an amazing math instructor. I have taken her for calc 2 and pre calc and would take her for my other math classes if i could. Her panapto videos are super helpful and her tests are extremely fair. if you do the homework, watch the videos, and complete the practice tests you will do great in her classes
Professor Pyle is truly one of the nicest professors out there. I don't really enjoy flipped classroom styles, but she made it possible to learn without watching *every* video outside of class. The grade primarily depends on your test averages, and homework. While the homework isn't necessarily hard, there are a LOT of assignments.
Attendance not mandatory, but there are assignments that do depend on attendance. There was a LOT of homework that took hours per assignment. She did provide extremely helpful practice tests before tests, and with lots of studying you can pass. She is accessible outside of class and sends zoom links if can't you make it. Take if you LOVE math.
Pyle is a great professor, but Calculus II is tough and requires solid Calc I and Algebra skills. Watch her Panopto videos for lesson overviews, as class lectures are reviews, not teaching. For finals or tricky concepts, use external resources like CramBetter, which simplifies and clarifies heavy content she may not fully explain.
Best professor for any calc!! Explains all concepts in depth and never assumes that you know something already. Cares so much about your understanding. Constantly pauses during lectures to make sure you are following and grasping the concept. She is also a super kind grader. Offers so much help and office hours. Exams are super fair. Choose her!!!
TAKE PROF PYLE! Homework due most days there is lecture, attendance taken through polling questions. Very lenient with points on grading exams, quizzes, and recitations. Only reason why I didn't get an A was because I did not know how to properly study. If you try, this class is manageable. She explains concepts very well. Loved her teaching style.
The class content is difficult but she explains everything super well and gives all the materials needed to pass, and she always makes sure everyone understands during the lectures. The only complaint is that there was a very heavy amount of homework and quizzes, but all of it is graded very fairly with a lot of partial credit and late grades.
Prof. Dunlop-Pyle might be the best math teacher I've ever had. Even if not, she was definitely the nicest teacher I've had! She made the class so easy to understand. Material on tests was incredibly straightforward. Explains stuff SUPER well in class and in her office hours! If you leave doodles on your exams she draws smiley faces next to them.
Taking Calculus II with Professor Pyle was great! She provides videos for explaining every topic that are expected to be watched and for notes to be taken on before the lecture where the material is covered. This helps get an overview of the topic and you can note any important formulas before class which is mainly guided practice on the material.
Great teacher for Calculus 2. I was in a mixed-mode course, so she would post videos on the topics she would cover in class, which she expected us to watch. The videos were very helpful. She releases practice exams before your tests, which helps a lot as well. As long as you put in the effort, you will succeed.
She has an absolutely AMAZING teaching style one of the best professors ive had here. obviously clac2 is a hard class but the way she teaches makes it seem really simple so that it just clicks in ur head. the homework is a LOT harder than what's on the quizzes/exams. if you take her class for calc 2 youll pass.
The only reason why I didn't get an A in this course was purely my fault. One of the best professors I've had at UCF so far. Loved her teaching style and exams are based on in class problems. Lots of homework and attendance is somewhat mandatory.
Such a nice woman and a great professor. If you need help she would be happy to! Make sure to review lecture slides and homework for exams.
helpful videos, not a tough grader, tests are generally as hard as or easier than practice tests and homework
Professor Pyle is awesome! Calc 2 is hard, but LOVED her teaching style. Panopto videos are helpful. Weekly quizzes can be a lot, but not worth much of grade. Beware of tests, especially the 15-point questions. Tough grader, but I make a lot of notation errors so that's deserved. Only reason I got a B was the knewton alta homework (very annoying)
i really enjoyed proffessors pyle's lectures and teaching style! she is very knowledgeable and always explains the 'why' in what we are doing. i loved having her this semester, and i hope my future professors are just as good. tests are easier than expected. knewton alta (homework platform) is not great, mostly long and tiring.
