we dont need definitions. we need to know how to do the work. not real clear. nice but needs to put herself in class position and see theres no way to know how to do it.
Knows her stuff, but not always able to make the class understand. Tries to make class fun, good personality.
she tries to be nice but doesnt realize that not all people are math whizzes. needs to slow down and be more thorough. willing to help when needed is the only benefit. try to get the little chinese guy. he rocks.
diffucult but nice. can be heinous at times. wants us to understand but doesnt make it easy to. doesnt say things simply. could be easier if she would put things in terms that we could understand.
EASY CLASS, very easy tests. don't do the homework, just take notes. Learn a lot.
Fair enough. Just do the projects, go to class, take notes and you'll do fine. Never did homework and got a B+ with little effort. Can be confusing sometimes but she's good at making stats applicable to your major. Comprehensive final.
Avoid 3 hour math classes if possible. I'm not impressed with this prof, she was a little annoying and liked to talk about hot dogs. Cumulative final, tests SUCK. Multi choice and T/F worth too many points and bring test grades down.
VERY EASY. Easy "A". Easiest class that I have taken yet. Very helpful, and makes stats as fun as it can possibly be.
Professor Hahn was a great professor to have, one of the best i have had at GV...She knows the material very well and is a great teacher. I recommend her as a professor, assignments are not mandatory but she gives pop quizzes sometimes over material she talked about last class and the home work, usually very easy quizzes and some freebies ^_^
She is a good math teacher who cares about her students. She is very helpful if you meet her during office hours. I would take her again.
Take a different prof if you can. I had to study way more for this class than my friends did with other profs. Go to every class and do your homework. WAY too particular with grading exams. Lost a lot of points just on wording or something stupid. I think this class would be easier with a different prof
Nice prof. Difficult class. Surprise quizzes every few days (grades top 10). 5 SPSS proj. 3 tests, plus cum. final. I'm an above-aver. jun. film student who got a 28 on math ACT, but haven't taken math since high school. 65% then failed at final. Part laziness, part difficulty of material. Will take easier prof next sem. :)
Don't listen to the people below. I did not do any of the homework and honestly did not put a super amount of effort in to her class and I did great. She tells you EXACTLY what is on each exam the week before it. She even let us earn half the lost points back on one exam that a lot of people did poorly on. She's very helpful. I'd take her again.
Very easy to understand and will help you if you need it. Tests are easy and quizes extremely easy
A really nice lady! You don't have to do the homework...just make sure you 100% understand EVERYTHING she talks about...because her exams are pretty hard! She gave us lots of extra credit chances though....so I know she wants her students to do well. Someone really does need to get her on to TLC's "What NOT to Wear" though...oi those crocs!
She does a good job of explaining things. I have no real complaints. She jokes around a lot in class which can be a good thing but gets old after awhile.
Hard prof! Her tests were terrible. Each question worth a lot of points. Great person and willing to help you out. If you are not good at numbers or memorization don't take her. Nice person!
She was an amazing teacher! If you go to class and pay attention its not hard at all, the homework isn't due but it helps if you do it. Shes very willing to answer questions and help people. She give you a sheet to help out with formulas so you don't have to memorize everything which is very nice!
Prof Hahn is AWESOME! she will help you understand everything, really helpful. Very nice, you have to go to class and pay attention and do the work but she makes everything pretty understandable.
Awesome prof! She is incredibly patient and understanding, and will work with you until you understand it. There is plenty of work involved, but if you're willing to sit through all the classes, you should do just fine.
Great prof, loves to teach and cares for her students. I had heard horror stories about Stats but I found it easy. She gave great examples for in class work and they came in handy when it came to test time. Take her she is a great instructor and makes sure the students get the material.
She was very clear about what she wanted from you in the class. The tests were difficult. She tries to scare you about a lot of things but she is actually very nice and very up front.
I was avoiding Stats like you wouldn't believe! I am so glad that I took it with Hahn. It wasn't easy, but I learned a lot. She gives examples and her class isn't boring(pay attention). If you have a hard time with math make sure you show up and get help when needed(stats lab too). Hahn is very nice and willing to help you. Take her if you can!
she was a great teacher and she made everything understandable.
Seriously was so worried about having to take statistics, im terrible at math but i ended up with an A-. You do actually have to study though but professor Hahn is so helpful if you don't understand, i reccommend her!
Amazing teacher! She is honestly one of the best professors I've had. She is very passionate about what she does, but don't think you won't work for your grade. If you show up, study hard for the tests then you'll do fine! I got an A! Take her, she is awesome!
I worked really hard in this class and had the SLA. I ended up with a low C and felt like i deserved much better. This class is a gen ed that everyone has to take it should not have been this hard. Hahn loves stats which is great but I don't so the material was hard for me. Nevertheless i worked hard and think her expectations are too high.
She is a great prof. You have to work hard, attend class and study but if you do you'll be fine. If you have a questions just ask her anytime, she answers questions thoroughly, do the practice problems. I have SLA which helps a lot, but regardless, i hate math and I'm not very good but I have an A in the class. Highly recommend her!
I loved being Prof. Hahn's class. Over winter break, i remember telling my mom how scaried I was about this class, and come to find out I am now a minor in applied statistics. I leanred alot and she kept it fun, interesting, and clear. I hope she is teaching 216
Hahn is passionate about statistics but she expects way to much out of her students. She is extremely picky and loses her cool easily. She has good intentions but expects stats to come easy to all. I would NOT recommend taking her if you can take Plouff. They are EXTREMELY easy compared to her. Rate em.
Prof. Hahn is extremely helpful in office hours. If homework is due, she gives you a printed worksheet with the date. Drops lowest scores on assignments. Lets you replace bad test grade with final exam grade if its better. Made the class fun, I recommend her!
Not a bad teacher. Her class is kind of hard but shes a good teacher and very helpful. Attendance is mandatory if you wanna do good. Watch out for her questions because sometimes there tricky.
be prepared to work in this class if you take it with hahn. notes didn't really help and i learned more myself from just reading the book. hahn does know her stuff though and she's really good about helping you outside of class. just be prepared to work
I dont know why there are peope saying she was easy because she was tough. Her tests are hard and so are her homework assignments. She does know what shes talking about though
She definitely knows the material and as long as you show up to class, and if needed go to some office hours (and of course study) you will be able to pull off a C minimum. If you do not show up to class you WILL NOT pass.
Love this professor. Very genuine. Take her if you can. Will answer any questions you may have, she is very easy to understand. I would take her again any day and I am not a fan of math. Loved her!
Prof. Hahn is a great prof. Her notes go fast, but she gives a ton of examples and help. You dont read at all,and hw is minimal per week. She is very nice, and really concerned about her students and their grades. She is helpful and kind and can really relate the subject to a college student. If you havent had stats,it will be tough, but I reccomend her.
Her examples are really clear. Homework and projects are easy points. The tests are a little rough because they have more than just math on them (multiple choice for concept questions) but you get a formula sheet for each test. Just do the practice problems and you'll be ok.
loved her! great prof! not an easy class but she cares and is more than willing to help!
Prof. Hahn has a quirky sense of humor bubbly personality, but you step out of line and you will see how intimidating a 6'5" perturbed prof is. She makes learning stats bearable as most of the students are there because they have to be. The work load is not bad and there are plenty of examples provided to help with comprehension.
How I was successful in this class: 1) print out chapter power point slides from BB, try not to miss class much because usually one class builds off of another, and pay attention. Many examples are given in class to help with the occasional homeworks. I recommend Hahn, she is a very good prof.
If you care at all about statistics, take her class. She knows her stuff, and loves statistics. If you are taking this class as a gen-ed, or major requirement, I suggest you find a new professor ASAP.
Prof. Hahn is a great prof. She really knows her stuff. If you are someone who misses class or texts in class, find another prof. She is tough on people like that, as she should be. She makes lecture enjoyable as well. If you are a good student, definitely take her for this class.
I had to take Stats twice, Hahn really made the second time around better. She can explain things well and will go over lots of examples. The homework is not bad, just a few questions on a worksheet. If you do the practice problems, you will have no problem getting a B or A. I would definitely recommend her.
Overall good prof, she's clear in what she wants learned on the exams and has lots of practice problems available. However her attitude needs work, she was often bitter during lecture and got angry when the class scored low on tests. Not cool. Also, the class is really fast-paced and she doesn't slow down. Strict teacher, if you can handle it.
Her multiple choice is very hard. She will yell at you if you are texting in class and marks you down if you don't staple things. She's a bit ridiculous when it comes to expectations sometimes and her attitude is terrible. I would recommend another prof if available.
Professor Hahn is a good teacher for stats, however, she forgets not everyone in her class is a stats major. Her multiple choice are rediculous and she can be grumpy quite often. If not a stats major, choose someone else
Impossible exams, terrible attitude, unfair grader. The material in the class wasn't as difficult as she made it to be. Take a different prof, especially if you are not a stats major.
She was unfriendly and expected the class to pick up on the material quickly which was impossible because she raced through the material. If you are not a stats major, TAKE A DIFFERENT PROFFESOR.
I loved Prof Hahn. She was the sole reason I picked up an applied statistics minor. She makes everything really relatable and interesting. I could see where some people had personality differences with her because she does expect a lot, but hey it's a college class.
Prof. Hahn is probably not the best professor to have for STA 215 if you have any trouble with math or stats. She's helpful, but her exams are hard. She also likes to throw a lot of new questions at you on the exam that you may have never dealt with before, even if you did the practice problems, homework and review sheets. I don't recommend her.
Okay professor - not the best not the worst. It's hard to make stats interesting/fun, but she tries. She does go fast, but she does a ton of examples and has other assignments to help keep your grade up. Pay attention in class, do the practice problems and a B will be easy to get.
If you have never taken stats before, I would not recommend her. She goes fast. You have to study a ton and work hard to get an A, aka not an easy A by any means. I got an A, but i worked my butt off. She is more than willing to help although she can be intimidating.
Professor Hahn is a great teacher. Her power points are posted on blackboard and have lots of examples in them. I thought her tests were pretty easy. She is very knowledgeable about stats and I found it very interesting. I am thinking about doing a stats minor because I liked her class so much. I didn't have to study much to get an A in this class.
Hahn knows alot about the topic. She is very helpful and will answer whatever questions you have. Soemtimes she seemed annoyed with students asking questions though. She can be imtimidating at times, but don't be afraid to talk to her. Her exams were easy if you used the study guide and other homework was practice. Overall, a great professor.
I absolutely love Professor Hahn! I almost picked up a stat minor because of her class. She makes you work hard but your hard work will show through your grade. Do the extra problems and all of the worksheets and study guides and you will do good on the tests. Don't be afraid to go to her with any questions or problems you may have!
Professor Hahn knew what she was talking about so I appreciate that, but her tests were extremely hard. Specifically a take home test that was almost impossible. If you respect her, she will respect you. However if you text in class or are rude then she will lose it. Make sure you turn in things on time or else you will get a 0. Not a great prof.
Hahn is one of the worst professors I have ever taken a Grand Valley. She seems extremely nice but she expects so much out of you. Saying that she is a hard grader is an understatement. If you disrespect her, you can bet that she is going to disrespect you. I 100% regret taking her class, and giving her a good end-of-term review. DO NOT TAKE!!
Horrid prof. Seriously the hardest grader ever. Unless you are amazing at math, you will not get an A. I have never got lower than a B+ and I got a C in this class. All my friends in stats 215 with other profs got solid As with half the effort. Her tests are impossible and homework takes hours. Don't take her unless you want to lower your GPA.
This was the hardest class I have ever taken at GV. Everything in her class is hard. You will do great in the beginning until you take the first test. Her tests are the hardest of all, the homework takes hours, and she is not clear sometimes of what you are looking for. TAKE A DIFFERENT PROF IF POSSIBLE. IF YOU DON'T KNOW STATS BEFORE, DO NOT TAKE!
Good luck getting even a B in this class unless you are a math savant. Exams and homework are long and difficult. Not lenient with grading. Rotten attitude that she tries to cover up with the most fake, utterly transparent "cool professor" disposition I've ever seen. I was afraid she would throw a tantrum if I even so much as looked at her funny.
Professor Hahn was awesome. Very kind and funny. She genuinely cares about the success of her students. She is more than willing to help clarify any questions you have and is never intimidating. I would highly recommend taking her class.
This was a really difficult class. Hahn goes through material very quickly, and it is hard to keep up. I went to the Stats Lab multiple times, did all the homework, went to her office hours and I still majorly struggled. Her tests are incredibly hard and she is a tough grader. If you aren't good at Math, take another prof.
Everything is black and white with Hahn. For one thing she is good at explaining the concepts. However if you have to stop and think for a minute you won't finish the exams. No one in our class finished the last exam we just took. Not a great way to test what we actually know if you ask me.
This class is awful. The basic ideas are taught in class but thats about it. Get ready to teach yourself statistics. Make sure you don't have anything in life that could keep you from turning in assignments on time because if it's not on time oh well. Terrible experience. Destroyed my good GPA.
She may seem intimidating but she is seriously SUCH a great professor. She occasionally gives extra credit for coming to class (10 pts on an exam once!) She can be goofy and is so helpful. She drops your THREE lowest homeworks and your one lowest project grade. highly recommend!!!
Hahn seems very nice in class but is the hardest grader I have had at GV. I lost 10 percent on a HW grade because i didnt staple it before class. my roommate is taking stats right now and has over 100 percent and knows half of what I know and I currently sit at 81%. grading criteria is messed up. need a 83 to get a B-, I have a C with my 81%.
Overall a good teacher. Very nice person! The only thing was she left a lot of important material to teach at the end of the semester so it was really rushed. But you get 3 attempts on her homework assignments which saved me! Her tests didn't start out tough but half way through the semester they kept getting hard since she rushes more.
Professor Hahn is an amazing lady, I loved her energy and spunk during class. However, she was often times annoying because on Fridays she would make us show up for class and then 5 minutes later say she didn't feel like being there and make us leave. GO TO CLASS because she will randomly give people who show up extra credit, especially after tests
She's absolutely my favorite prof! She's so funny and inspirational! I actually enjoyed going to class because of her! Her tests are easy as long as go to class and listen and there's some homework but it's not hard at all. She's gives extra credit too when she's feeling super nice so go to class if you want it. Would take her again without a doubt
Professor Hahn is one of the greater professors on campus. She is VERY clear on how she grades and what she wants. Very good at explaining and clearing things up if you have questions. Tests are a bit hard. Homework is on blackboard. Doesn't take attendance but you will miss a lot if you don't show up. Gives random extra credit if you come to class
Professor Hahn is an excellent professor. She explains material very well with lots of examples. She is willing to help outside of class and is very clear on what she expects of you. Tests are pretty easy IF you take the time to study. Attendance is optional, but if you skip you miss a lot of important information. Gives extra credit too!
Professor Hahn is a good professor. She is hilarious and gives extra credit. Her exams are challenging. Homework gets 3 tries. After chapter 3 everything was rushed and it was hard to keep up. Be prepared to practice stats a lot, and make sure you leave enough time to study for her exams.
Professor Hahn is funny, but can be intimating. I have never taken a stats class before and I felt like she taught that people have taken stats before. I found this class challenging. She says almost too much information in her lecture and I end up getting lost. I found her teaching style to be hard to learn. The tests are also kind of challenging.
I Think Professor Hahn is a good professor for stats. She definitely knows what she is talking about. I feel like her lectures don't go in depth enough for the homework of the exams. I thought I understood it in class but on exams and hw, I was lost. She also is a hard grader, easily could give half points but doesnt. Kind of a lot of homework
Very enthusiastic & always ready to help. Book isn't necessary since verything you need to know will be on her ppts. Take notes during lecture, go through the ppts on your own as well, DO THE PRACTICE PROBLEMS & you will pass. If you don't know how to do the assigned practice problems you have no chance of passing the tests. SPSS project every week
She really knows what she is doing but can at times almost over explain things. Some parts she will go over so much it's boring and other times it just makes things confusing. The homework assignments aren't bad though and the exams aren't super hard either. There's a few small projects but that's all. Plus she lets you use note cards on tests.
This prof was amazing! She broke down the material in several ways, and explained it in different words. If you attend class and pay attention, you won't need to read the textbook to pass. She thoroughly explained the material and made complex ideas easy to understand. Would highly recommend taking!
She's a super good teacher and very accessible! Love her.
She's supper funny and the notes are easy to understand. She drops your 4 lowest homework grades and lets you use a whole page of notes on all tests.
Best professor ever! She explains everything is a clear manner. Wish she taught STA 216
The class has weekly hw quizzes (online), optional hw (online), practice labs (in class), and labs (in & out of class). She lets you use a cheat sheet on the exams which I found insanely helpful. She is very knowledgeable about stats but moves very fast. She wants all her students to do well and even offers EC every once in awhile.
Prof Hahn is a good teacher and made stats 215 easy. She gives plenty of practice material and uses good examples. She wants to make sure you are understanding WHY you are doing what you are doing, not simply just plugging and chugging.
Lori is super knowledgeable. 2 exams and 1 final exam. You get to use one side of a sheet of paper for each test (both sides for final). She drops 4 lowest grades at the end. She gives prelabs which aren't for points, but help you alot on the actual labs. About half of labs done outside of class. Online HW every week, 10 or 20 questions. Very nice.
Amazing teacher. Explains material extremely well and is always willing to help. Dont miss lecture or your screwed. Gives you a paper cheat sheet for tests
if you are taking this class fully online I would NOT recommend. Instead of her teaching, she has you watch videos the stats department made in 2016. In class, she gives you about 1 minute to ask for questions and then moves on. If you want to fully teach yourself the class and occasionally ask questions, you will do fine. Tests are unfair.
Professor Hahn doesnt know how to teach. She doesnt give us notes or she doesnt do any videos for us to learn the material. When she grades, she grades heavily and were only grades by a few things. If u have to take Stats 215 and you end up with her, save yourself from her.
Wouldn't recommend taking her. She is not the best at teaching the subject. Very inconsiderate and doesn't care about what is going on with her students. Our class averages weren't good and she doesn't realize. its a tough class but she doesn't try to make it somewhat better especially during these trying times. Save yourself.
Professor Hahn is the worst professor that i have had at GV. SAVE YOURSELF FROM HER!!!
Not the worst prof ive ever had but not great by any means. Didn't seemed to care much if students knew what they were doing, just kind of went through the motions. SPSS was explained very poorly and she graded extremely strictly. Don't recommend.
Not really sure why people are hating on her! I liked her for my class. It was hybrid and she delivered the material concisely and well. I'd recommend her as it seems she really cares.
Professor Hahn has notes online for you to follow. Assignments weekly but can take as many times as you want. Students who sit on their phones and work on their computer complain a lot about how hard she is. :( She is more than willing to help you with anything. Would definitely take again!
