Lori is an awesome professor. She usually lets class out a bit early, always emphasizes what will be on the test. She shows movies and lets the class make up test Q's and A's. Tests and quizzes are simple and straightforward -no trick questions. Most of the test material comes from lecture but be sure to at least skim the book for major concepts.

I think she is great and fair and the class is easy if you go and take notes and listen to what she has to say. TAKE HER YOU WILL NOTTTT REGRET IT!

Very helpful. Easy as can be. I got a C but I never went to class. Helps to read the book but no critical. Study guides for each test(3 including the non-cumulative final). Attendance not mandatory but, I would go. Interesting class discussions. Very fair. Enjoyed this course.

The class is interesting, a lot of people talk about the government (in almost every class it gets brought up) she talks kind of fast so make sure you listen. The book isnt terrible to read just make sure you know the definitions. She likes to engage in conversations with the class, and welcomes any discussion.

She is pretty fair professor. If you go to class she'll go over the notes and if there aren't a lot of people she will give you test questions. Attendance isn't required but you should still go to class anyways. You have to read along with going to class to do well on the tests.

Dr. Heald, is the coolest, her class is easy, and very informative. all you have to do is read the book and the notes she provides as well what she says. she offers tons of bonus points and she helps her students alot. people who do not like her class is because they are the ones talking, not paying attention, and not coming to class. She is great!!! Her class is easy if you read the chapters that are assigned and you study well. There are three tests and five quizzes. She drops the lowest quiz. She gives free test answers when many people do not show up. She'll cancel class sometimes. She is very outgoing and laid back.

Lori is amazing!! shes very clear and fun. she loves to talk about social issues and connects it with what we're learning. attendence is not mandatory but it's a fun class and when people dont show up she gives out answers to test questions. i would definately reccomend her!! fun down to earth professor and makes the class fun too

Dr. Heald made this class was so interesting. She gives tests on almost exactly what she says in class, so notes are important. Attendance is not mandatory, however when a large amount of the class is absent she will give out answers to the test.

Great teacher, knows what she is talking about. She is capable of getting off topic to teach students to be open minded and take something with them from the class besides memorizing the material for the test. She uses class time to show movies that will make you think about yourself and how you view others in society.

Shes a great lady and teacher. On the other hand, the test reviews she gives out have NOTHING to do with the actual tests, infact studying them will slower your grade rather than hire them. In my opinion dont take her if you are the type of person to not want to go to a bs class

The study guides have absolutely nothing to do with her test, so don't do them(only a "guide"). She wasn't the best professor but she wasn't the worst either. I liked the videos she showed in class even though there was only like 4. She only has 3 tests(including final) and 6 quizzes. DO THEM ALL! Passed with a D but could have sone better.

She's a great professor! Tests can be somewhat hard if you didn't go to class. She had us watch 30 Days shows and had a couple questions about them, so make sure you don't miss those days!! Tests and quizzes aren't just multiple choice. Easy class if you go daily.

I thought she was a good teacher. she sometimes would give extra credit randomly if you went to class..so definitely attend. she has a bubbly personality that makes class not super boring like other psychs. i hardly ever read the book, tests straight from the notes off blackboard. I didnt study as much as i shouldve but got a B.

Although attendance is not mandatory for the teachers records it is mandatory for a good grade in this class. I got an A and I read the book, went to class, and read my notes. She also gives extra points to kids who show up. She may even tell you some test questions and answers on days when no one is in class she can tell if you don't come to class

Lori is awesome. she explains everything in the book so easily and gives examples of everyday life rather than just reading. almost all of her tests are on vocab so if u study that you will be golden. also she doesnt care if u come to class but will give extra points if u do

Great professor!! really knows a lot about sociology! The tests can be tricky so make sure to study the notes and listen to every word she says even if its not on the powerpoint because sometimes she puts the most random things on her tests. Attendance is a huge part of extra credit that she gives at the end of the semester!

I love this class. Dr. Heald brings to light many of today's social problems and provides an open venue for discussion. She listens to student concerns, and she is willing to curve tests to account for any error in communication. Just do the reading and review the power-points, and you can get an A.

Dr. Heald is a very thorough professor. She encouraged critical thinking. As long as you read the book you will do alright in her class. She doesn't ask much of her students, only open minds and respect. She handled the rude students in class in a calm and collected way. I enjoyed her class a lot.

All quizzes and tests are online open book. Attendance is mandatory. Extra Credit is offered by way of surveys. Take her if you have the chance!

The best way to do well in her class is to speak up, express your opinion, and be open minded to new things. She is pretty funny and she truly wants you to learn, not just memorize boring facts. Make sure to at least skim through the text book because she will reference the text on test and quizzes every now and then.

Good teacher that encourages discussion and talks about things happening in the world to make Sociology easier. Homework is due the day of tests and is not hard if you somewhat apply yourself. Randomly takes attendance, but I would suggest going as a lot of what is on the tests is discussed in class along with some information from the book.

Lots of pop quizzes so the reading is essential. Lectures and class discussions are great, tests are very difficult and it often seems like there could be two right answers. Nice sweet women and will give you help if you ask for it and approach her separately.

I love her! Super interesting class even tho the tests are really hard. She gives pop quizzes on the reading but she'll drop the lowest at the end. She's always there to help if you need it. As long as you go to class, read the textbook, and study a little, you'll have no problem doing well.

4 tests and 4 quizzes so not much room for error. Read the chapters if you want to pass the class. The final isn't cumulative though so that was a great plus!

Dr. Heald is the bomb! Her lectures are funny and interesting. The textbook is really useful, in order to pass the tests all you have to do is use it for the study guides and you're golden. She gives you extra credit for showing up and allows you to opt out of the exam if your grade is good enough. All in all she's amazing take her for sociology!!

Dr. Heald is the funniest professor I know. Attendance isn't required, but she gives extra credit for showing up to class! She's extremely generous with giving extra points. Just be sure to study study study for your tests!

Dr. Heald is both amazing and inspirational, you can really tell how much she enjoys sociology and engaging students. As a student in her class, despite the non-formal attendance policy, I always wanted to be there. 10/10 would recommend.

Ms. Heald is such a wonderful woman. She is sweet, funny and gives amazing and inspirational lectures. I would definitely recommend taking one of her classes. I know I would not hesitate to take another one.

A great class, interesting and engaging. Basically, the class is what you make it, she encourages class discussion. Attendance is not mandatory, but she will do random extra credit attendance. Do not leave in the middle of class, she'll call you out. She said the textbook was required but I never once used it.

Offers plenty of extra credit if you're willing to put in the effort. No homework whatsoever. Reading the textbook may help, but is by no means necessary. The lectures will cover pretty much everything you need to know.

Easiest gen-ed I've taken yet at ECU (I took online). Professor Heald is fantastic about communication and sending reminders about deadlines. She will also give extra credit when she deems it appropriate. She is clear and upfront about EVERYTHING, so just do the work (it's not a lot at all) and you will do well. Highly recommend!

Takes random attendance, if you attend class you get rewarded for it. She applies extra credit at the end of the semester for those that earned it. The lectures are interesting and easy to follow. Grades include 4 quizzes, 3 tests, and a final exam. She includes test questions based out of the book. I personally didn't use the textbook but once.

A pretty good course overall. Not hard if you read for the quizzes and are present for the lectures. There is no homework, just quizzes and exams. Most of the topics are pretty self-explanatory. She takes random attendance, so make sure you go to class. She also gves many extra credit oppotunites.

Professor Heald has a great personality and she is always ready to answer your questions and does not mind class participation. However, the tests and quizzes are hard and require the textbook if you want a good grade. She offers extra credit and sometimes she is generous enough to give the class something a little extra.

This semester was online but she literally gave one assignments every three weeks and one test every two. She doesn't grade hard and the test were open note and book easy class.

Dr. Heald is super sweet and willing to help outside class. Many students say shes very politically opinionated, but in my opinion its not any more than your average sociology class. Her exams really make you think but they're not impossible to make an A on as her lectures are very clear and useful.

This class was a god send for my first semester. If you participate in the discussions on time you will pass with flying colors. Dr. Heald often altered due dates etc when difficulties arose and was very upbeat and easy going in every email we got. I promise if you just barely try you will pass, TAKE THIS CLASS!

Love Dr. Heald! She's been super understanding during covid times. Her lecture notes are easy but can be long. Grade was based on discussions and 4 tests. She is opinionated on how she grades discussions so be careful with that. If you reach out for help she is awesome. If you want an A+ do the extra credit because some of her tests are confusing!

Dr. Heald was honestly my favorite professor in the fall semester. She taught the material well and her class was actually interesting. Whenever I had questions about any questions on the test, I emailed her explaining why I thought my answer was correct and she responded explaining the actual answer and gave me extra points for effort. I love her!

I took this online so it wasn't too bad at all. She says you need the textbook but I didn't use it at all. It's mainly tests on canvas and discussion boards. Easy A in my opinion. Would definitely take another one of her classes.

Professor Heald was pretty good! She is pretty strict when it comes to grading but just follow the directions, study, and go to class and u will make a A

she is funny, entertaining. and cares about her students. that being said, she has test questions that will be given out only during in-person class, so showing up is important. besides that i cant really think of any cons for this prof

For this class, you get out what you put in. The homework assignments were easy to complete, but where people struggled were the exams. Be sure to read the attachments that she provides with each lecture and you will be okay. I mean read every word and watch every video. Be a studious student from the beginning and you will finish with an A.

This class was relatively easy and interesting. Lori Heald cares about her students and doesn't just read off of her powerpoint slides. She posts everything you need on Canvas. Although she didn't take attendance often, I'd show up to class because it will round up your grade at the end of the semester, and she also gives out test question answers.

I enjoyed listening to her lectures, she does make herself available to talk before class and she does try to help the students who want to learn. She is very strict on AI usage and cheating. Attendance is not mandatory but on the tests you are rewarded with test questions if you go. Overall, she's a nice lady who is passionate about what she does
