Interesting. Helpful. Caring. Remembers everyones name. .
Funny and CRAZY. GREAT
Man those tests were hard. Overall, a good teacher
Crazy, but very nice. Makes it interesting and remembers EVERYONE'S name.
Very energetic and nice, but the tests were ridiculously easy.
holyfield knows everyones name but doesnt care about her students. she only cares about her field studies class and it is obvious by her lack of awareness when it comes to what is going on in the class. take this class because its easy though.
Crazy and **** Teacher, Tests are tough, Easy enough to make an A with studying, B if you go to class and not study much. She has got issues though,
One of the best Professors on campus. She is bright, energetic, and passionate about sociology.
Great professor! Top of her field! Hard course work, but she lightens the load by actually teaching! Go figure! Take anything that she teaches, and you will regret it!
I don't know what everyone else is smoking, but the tests are super easy. She does learn everyones names and keeps you awake in class. Take this class for an easy A if nothing else.
Nice teacher, knows EVERYONE's names and talks to everyone b4 class. Hard tests, no way to narrow down what to study. Also, she talks a mile a minute while showing notes to copy on the overhead and you're supposed to get it all, and fast. I made a C.
What a great teacher. She will memorize every students name within a week. She made this class interesting and I got an easy A.
Dr. H is a very energetic teacher and that can be a bad thing when you are trying to write the notes. She goes to fast and it is hard to keep up. You can't listen to her and get all the notes as well. And her tests are hard.
She is such and incredibly nice person, very real and genuine. She talks fast, but it keeps me awake and interested. The tests are hard so you do have to really study. Definitly take advantage of the extra credit because it helps a lot
Take Dr. H. Great class, with an awesome teacher.
Dr.H is great. She is an excellent person as well as professor. Grad classes are hard and she made sure that we understood what was going on. She piled the work on us, but i bet that the entire class knows their stuff. She is such a nice person.
She is the BEST teacher I have had at this University! She is very passionate about her field and very passionate about helping students make good grades. She gives every possible chance at making good grades. I definitely recommend her!!!!
Easy teacher. goes a little fast but gives tons of extra credit chances. just go to class and listen and you should get at least a B.
Dr.H was great! She gets so excited when she teaches, which definitely helps make the class more interesting. She knows her stuff and makes sure you know it, too. Her tests were easy in that she told you what you needed to study. great class.
Dr. H is a really fun andinteresting teacher. She LOVES Sociology and will make you love it, too. LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT. Runs up and down SEAUD while teaching. A MUST TAKE!!!! Read book and study notes for A.
Very interesting and energetic teacher. She loves what she does. It is worthwhile to go because she gives enough bonus to make a 100% test grade. Great teacher. Take her if you can. She tries to learn the names of all 300 people in the first 2 weeks.
Awesomely fun
Dr.Holyfield is a great teacher that is so on fire for what she is teaching it is truely amazing. She is one of the best teachers I have ever had and really made me want to learn more. You have to go to class b/c her tests are taken majorly from her notes but it is really worth it.
ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY LOVED HER!!! One of the BEST, maybe THE BEST, I have ever had!! She is a MUST MUST TAKE at the U of A!! Go to class and read your text and you'll be fine! I LOVED HER!
She is a awesome instructor. Definately one of the best I have had at UA. She cares for her students and has a passion for what she is teaching. She will help you through anything if you ask. She always has the time to talk and help.
She really loves what she teaches which can draw you into her lectures. Read your text or study the review she puts on the web and you'll get at least a B. Even though she has a class of 300+ she wants to and tries to get to know everyone. Pretty good class

Super funny! u HAVE to go to class (pop quizes) and STUDY for the tests!
She was wild, but she knew what she was talking about. Pop quizzes were part of her class. She offered many bonus opportunites though. The class was sort of boring, but it wasn't too bad.
She is such a good teacher, and I just love her class. She has made me want to change my major to Sociology!
Her trying to learn everyone's name in the Science Engineering Auditorium takes away from her lecture. I'm not a bit interested in sociology crap and couldn't care less. I took this class cause I thought it would be a joke. Study well for tests and make a 96 like me. Quizzes still suck though!!!
I liked Professor Holyfield. She has a great personality. She will know everyone's names before the first test....guaranteed! STUDY FOR HER TESTS!!
holyfield is the one to take! she is a great teacher. the best by far that i have taken. study the notes and read the book and come to class for the tests. she is one of the best teachers on this campus
shes so much fun. always keeps class interesting. great personality and she really knows what shes talking about. highly recommended
She's so awesome! She's funny and crazy and makes class interesting! You have to go to class though b/c sometimes she gives pop quizzes! But i recommend taking her class! She really is nice and cares about her students.
Holyfield is the best professor. She is very enthusiastic and easy to talk to.Quizzes and test are tuff though.REMEMBER:SHE ALWAYS GIVES QUIZZES THE CLASS DAY AFTER THE TESTS!!
Gives random quizzes. Will tell you you can leave if you want, and after everyone leaves that wants to, she will give an extra credit quiz.
makes the class way harder than it should be... tests are impossible. shes somewhat entertaining though
This class was tougher than I thought it would be. The tests are pretty tough even if you study for everything. Huge class in the Science and Engineering Auditorium makes it difficult to concentrate. She does give a lot on bonus to helpout everyone's grade. Go to class so you don't miss quizes.
Very unorganized, but if you go to class, do all of the extra credit opportunities, and fairly well on the tests you will be fine. She gives pop quizzes like it is nobody's business, but she usually tells you about them (if she doesn't let you know then it is for bonus) Makes class interesting and really tries to know her students.
Cheery disposition, and speaks clearly though the Prof does ramble a bit. Must go to class, read the chapter, take some notes. Lots of pop quizzes, 10 Qs but not that difficult, lots of Xtra credit. Posts PPnts on the internet the week of test. Expect lots of participation, just raise your hand. DO come to class with Scantrons. Not 2 esy or diff
she was a really fun teacher. i really enjoyed her although a lot of my friends thought she was annoying and the class was stupid. i thought she taught really well and was very organized. gives lots of pop quizes but they arent that hard.
Easy course, great teacher. Tests were not that difficult, they were actually quite easy. I made an A easily without even reading my book. She's actually quite inspiring. Just go to class everyday. People who are complaining must have never gone to class. Highly recommend her.
She was a GREAT teacher! She was fun and entergetic which madethe class a lot easier to want to go to. Don't get me wrong, her test are somewhat challenging but aslong as you go to class and study the lectures and chapters you'll do great! The topics covered were very interesting also.
Her lectures were a bit unorganized, and her exuberant happiness and incessant smiling made me feel like I was in kindergarten...but also kept me awake for the most part...if nothing else, I got to laugh at her. She covered some interesting material and had some unique stories, but I often rolled my eyes and wondered if she ever stopped smiling.
Her lectures were unorganized and her notes didnt help me much on the test. Make sure you read the text b/c many of her questions come from it. She is truly an interesting person and has great stories; she just isnt the best teacher. Gives plenty of extra credit!
So she kind of freaked me out in the beginning with her enthusiasm but you can really tell that she enjoys teaching. She is also a tad bit scatterbrained and gets distracted really easy but her powerpoints are very helpful since you can get on her website and study off of them. No need for notes in class. Go to class b/c she has random quizzes
Make sure you go to every class because she randomly gives quizzes. Her tests are easy, just study the powerpoints and everything on her reveiw page.
She really cares about her students. Always happy and enthusiastic. Gives lots of extra credit. Go to class for videos and pop quizes. There will always be a quiz after each test.
Take her class, you won't regret it. She is super enthusiastic. She drinks like a liter of coffee before beginning class, it's pretty entertaining. Don't bother taking notes, everything you need for an A on the tests are on her website and in the book. Go to class so you won't miss her surprise quizzes and you'll be fine.
She is great, very very enthusiastic and keeps class from getting boring. Her tests aren't too bad, they come almost straight from the book. Easy to approach and wants to help you anyway she can.
General Sociology: Loved it. Easy, and interesting. She will help you out with anything. Offers tons of EXTRA CREDIT! Does not want you to fail or even get a B.
Everyone should have her at least once in their college career. She is the most entertaining and personable professor I have ever met. Her class is easy as long as you put forth a little effort. She gives lots of extra credit, so you don't have an excuse for doing poorly.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!! i thought she would be an easy A by all the comments on here but i was way wrong. her tests are rigged...i study and think i do good and get D's. they are not at all easy and the bonus questions are not even close to being easy. her quizzes are hard and i fail those too even if i read. don't take her class!!
Dr. H is AWESOME!!!
Dr. Holyfield knows what she's talking about and is very enthusiastic -- mentor quality! She is the reason I have my BA in Sociology and that I am in a Master's Program with an assistantship!
Good.
Dr. H is one of the most engaging and professional professors I've had in my entire college career. I give two thumbs up for Dr. H!
While this professor was once one of my favorites and the reason I majored in sociology, I would now say that I hope I never have to take her class again. Classes are disorganized and you seldom follow the assigned readings, the powerpoints are boring and leave you feeling unengaged. One word: CHAOS
She is the BEST teacher I have ever had. I loved every day. You should definitely take her class, you will regret it if you don't.
If you dont go to this class you will fail it. I hated this class, she always gave pop quizes and never had any clue when they were coming, plus her tests are hard. Try to get Thompson for soci...
I absolutely loved her!! She keeps her lectures entertaining. It's very important to go to class...much of her tests are made from information from both the books AND lecture. Pop quizzes sometimes. Lots of extra credit opportunities! I have no bad things to say about her.
Dr. Holyfield was very interesting and shows that she is interested in her students. Class is not mandatory except for quizes. She gives a TON of extra credit and it is sooo easy to get. If you are boarderline at the end of the year.. she will help you out weather or not you ask her too... GREAT CLASS and Teacher
Go to class and you don't really have to read. Grading scale is helpful.
class was fun. definitely need to go because of very fequent quizzes. lots of extra credit opportunites. tests require lecture information and book. a very interesting and enjoyable class!
dr holyfield is the best, i went into the final with a b because i pretty much did nothing all semester, got a b on the final. and she gave me an A just because basically i emailed her alot and she knew who i was
A great teacher! Keeps you entertained and engaged with the lecture throughout the whole class period. Attendance is needed; quizes are frequent. Exams are easy. Almost all of the questions are from the lecture (power point slides, which are posted online). The TA's even hold review sessions and tell you basically each question/answer. EASY CLASS!
Holyfield is one of the most interesting teachers on campus. She makes Sociology EASY. Go to class and you can easily get an A. The tests aren't hard and she makes class really fun. I would definitely take her again!
She is hilarious and she really engages her students in class. Please take her! She made my whole semester better. GO to the review sessions! Study those notes and you'll make an "A" or at least I did :)
She is hilarious and she really engages her students in class. Please take her! She made my whole semester better. GO to the review sessions! Study those notes and you'll make an "A" or at least I did :)
Sure, Holyfield is great if you want an easy A without having to use your brain--the boatloads of bonus points and easy tests make it practically impossible to not get an A or at least a B. But she is obviously fairly unorganized and had "technical difficulties" with the Power Point nearly every class. She speeds through lectures. Overall mediocre.
Dr. H is extremely passionate about sociology and society. The tests are really easy if you go to the review sessions. You don't have to go to class but there are random quizzes worth a lot of points so you may as well go. She also posts all of her overheads online. She really is a nice teacher.
ok im taking this right now and i havent taken any of the quizes so do you know anyway that she will let me get extra credit? becasue it moved my grade from and A to a C becasue i didnt have any particiation points
A sweetheart of a lady. She touches on a lot of important issues and can really teach someone something. She is a bit scatterbrained but who cares. It is an easy A and might make you think outside the box.
I loved this class- and her. After taking it, I considered minoring in sociology. She makes it super fun and interesting. Go to class and do the bonus and it's an easy A.
Okay guys, it's not THAT easy of an A so stop trying to look like a genius. Seriously. You definitely have to study and go to class. I would recommend going to TA review sessions before exams. She quizzes a lot so be prepared and up to date on material. Dr. Holyfield has a great sense of humor and you cover interesting material. Take her class.
"Dr." Holyfield is a nice lady, but her lectures are kind of all over the place. Goes way too fast over the power points-luckily she posts them online. Not an easy A, but not difficult. GO TO CLASS! Bonus points and quizzes!
YOU MUST GO TO CLASS. Test really isn't over book its over lecture power points and notes, she is very unorganized with her lectures, which makes it difficult to understand. Didn't favor this class what so ever. She gives pop quizzes so attendance is required. She doesn't email back. Would NOT recommend her.
Really funny and super nice. But lectures are unorganized and straight from the book. Power points are not helpful unless notes are taken as well. Makes TAs do all of the work so get to know them, they will be the ones who help you. Pop quizzes are at least once a week so you have to read the book. NOT AN EASY CLASS.
She is so confusing. I do not recommend her. If you're looking for an easy A then don't pick her. Drops a test and that is the only good thing about her.
GO TO CLASS! AND DO ALL OF THE EXTRA CREDIT! I study my ass off for every single test and still get a high C or low B. She is scattered brained and doesn't do anything but make weird comments and tell her TAs to do the work. GET A NEW SOCIO TEACHER AND FAST!
Dr. Holyfield is a great teacher. She makes the class interesting and she cares about her students. BUT you have to attend class.
She's a really sweet lady and she cares about her students, but she was just too scatterbrained. Literally no structure in her lectures. Do go to class, though, for the pop quizzes and definitely go to get the study guide from the TA's. The only reason I got an A in the course was because of the study guides.
I thought she was a great teacher! Also, I thought the class was very doable. She gives lots of bonus points! The test reviews help a lot. You do have to go to class because she gives random quizzes. I got an A.
Holyfield is a very nice lady. But, her lectures are virtually useless and she consistently pushes a very socially liberal agenda.TA study sessions absolutely essential b/c lectures are so scatterbrained, but tests aren't bad if you study TA material. Pop quizzes so skim through book before lectures and go to class.
DO NOT take this professor. Although she is a nice lady and knows her stuff, her powerpoints are unclear and poorly constructed and she goes way too fast. You have to read EVERY chapter very thoroughly and remember the most minor details for the tests. She gives opportunities to raise your grade, but not much. This class is NOT easy. Hope it helps.
Dr. Holyfield is the sweetest lady. But she is incredibly scatterbrained and confusing. You learning is based off of her incredibly inadequate powerpoints. Read the book. You will have random quizzes over material. Attend class and get the study guide materials from the TA's.
Dr. Holyfield's class has plenty of oppurtunities for poins. For example she has multiple quizzes, and two 'wild card' quizzes that replace low quiz grades. For most of the quizzes she lets you know the class before that there will be one. She gives a review for the tests, which typically is spot on. She also offers 30 points in extra credit.
Go to class & read the book. You will make an A
Very passionate about what she teaches!!! Go to class because she gives frequent quizzes. TA's tell you exactly what to study for the tests. Easy A. Loved this class
Actually study for the tests...
She gives 7 pop quizzes & takes the top 5..so make sure you go to class (especially the day after test because she expects you to read ahead and quizzes you over that) I made an A because you just have to study the review the TA's give and get your 30 points of extra credit. She is extremely unorganized though & powerpoints are awful to follow
You take 5 quizzes & 2 more quizzes that'll replace your 2 lowest quiz grades out of the 1st 5, very helpful! You also take 5 tests & 1 test will be dropped. She also gives up to 30 easy extra credit points. If you read the chapters & keep up with the reading as well as studying you'll be fine. She makes class interesting
Listen in class & read the book. Easy A
It's a fun class. However she moves really fast and it is hard to take notes. Go to class it helps a lot. Also she gives bonus quizzes in class.
I was not a fan of this course. Also having a hard major, I was looking for an easy class. You really need to attend lecture and pay attention because her tests include "according to lecture.." questions. She does not give you your tests or quizzes back so its been hard for me to study. When she gives in-class extra credit, its not easy questions.
She is a fun teacher and gives tons of bonus points out of class as well as in class that really saved my grade. I failed the first test and then got C's and B's on the rest once I figured out how to study for her tests. She puts the powerpoints online and so attending class isnt mandatory but it helps.
I hated showing up to class, you can learn everything from the book, and she's too full of it for my taste. TA's walk around making sure you aren't on your phone but they're super helpful so go to them before a test. It's an easy class material wise but you have to read, and put the needed work in. 2 lowest quizzes and lowest test is dropped.
Lectures are so disorganized and unclear. She contradicts herself in lectures, asks the class if "thats correct?", and what you read in the book won't be the same information in her lectures, but you have to read or you won't pass. Powerpoints aren't for you, it's notes for her. Don't bother taking notes on them. She posts them.
She is an amazing teacher. She gives tons of extra credit. She also drops the lowest of the 5 tests and one of the lowest quizzes. She gives you plenty of opportunities to ask for help and is always willing to help. Her lectures are interesting and engaging. I was never bored.
Go to class, clicker points and quizzes are so important. If you can master the quizzes you can get an A on every test. Study her power point and pay attention to things she says about the lector
Dr. H is a great teacher. I personally don't care much for sociology, but she is very clear and scientific when teaching the class. I also appreciate who she took the effort to remember everyone's name in class. That said, the quizzes and tests are tricky, and you have to read the book often because sometimes she leaves information out on purpose.
Holyfield was very enjoyable, but you have to go to class. She drops the lowest test grade and the two lowest quiz grades. She posts the powerpoint to BB and the tests include questions from the book as well. The only reason you need to go to class is for the quizzes, not even to pay attention. Her lectures were always interesting though
Holyfield will provide you with a good introduction to sociology. If you read the chapters and listen in class it's an easy A. She gets scatterbrained sometimes. Material is interesting, if you apply yourself, you will get the grade you want. She offers review sessions before each test.
I took this for an "easy A", but it ended up being a very engaging and entertaining class. Lori is an amazing professor and was able to keep my attention all the way through the semester. If you attend lecture you will probably ace all of her tests. They are pretty straightforward. /Very/ easy and enjoyable class overall!
She makes sure to explain material in a way where you would understand. Lots of opportunities for points and she drops the lowest exam. Make sure to go to the reviews that the TAs hold before each exam. Very helpful!!
TAKE HOLYFIELD! She's very engaging and fun. Not much work besides tests, which the TA's have review sessions for where they tell you exactly what's on it. Don't buy the book, tests are straight from her slideshows.
Her class is never boring, she's always surprising you with something.
I love Dr. Holyfield. She always made class interesting and gives a ton of extra credit. The tests are not super hard, but go to the review sessions because they really help out when studying for tests, and make the tests a lot easier. You get to drop 2 out of the 7 quizzes and you can drop a test.
She's so funny I looked forward to attending her class. Go to the test reviews given the night before the tests and memorize everything the TA tells you and you will get a high A on every test. You watch a lot of videos and, it's very interesting course material. She'll test you over the videos you watch in class so make sure you attend.
I LOVED THIS CLASS. Best sociology teacher. I would definitely take this class again and recommend to anyone needing a social science credit. The class is super interesting, and the TA test reviews the night before basically give you all the info you need for the tests.
do NOT rely on the review for tests!!! either read the textbook or go into her office hours because her slides dont help at all. if it werent for how many pop quizzes she gives i would never go to class. but shes a nice lady!! & shes funny! just not my favorite professor.
She gives attendance quizzes, but they're such a small grade that I skipped a lot. Just reviewed the online quizzes (don't miss any) & the slides (they're online) to study on my own, & I made an A on all tests. Her lectures can be interesting, but I had harder classes to worry about. P.S. The reviews don't just give you answers, welcome to college.
Dr. Holyfield was awesome! This was my first Sociology class ever and I thought I would hate it, but I ended up loving it! The topic itself is very interesting and Dr. Holyfield explains different theories and definitions eloquently and professionally. Not only is she an amazing professor, but she is also extraordinarily helpful.
Very unorganized and unclear topics for lectures. You do not learn much while sitting in class, it feels like a waste of time except for clicker points so make sure you buy the textbook and study on your own.
I like her fine but the tests are pretty hard. There is lots of extra credit and she is very accommodating. The class is harder than I think most professors make it. I don't have anything awful or fantastic to say.
if you have any common sense at all you should be able to pass, I never pay attention but you have to go because she does clicker quizzes. She gives a ton of opportunities for bonus & make sure you do all the cengage tests and bonus quizzes. I study quizlets the night before tests and I make A's. She's rlly funny/kinda insane but overall rlly good!
her lectures are super unorganized and the pace at which she teaches is way too fast and confusing. you have to teach yourself most of the info but if you read the textbook on your own you should be ok. she does clicker points every class and gives extra credit opportunities outside of lecture.
This class is very easy if you do the quiz's and practice with quizlet but she is very unorganized and all over the place. Study guides for tests are not very helpful and the pace of notes in the lecture are way too fast. Also attendance is mandatory which is annoying bc you don't get much out of being there and end up just re-learning it at home.
This is an easy class and you should pass if you actually put in effort. If you don't put in effort your not obviously not going to do good. Reading the book helps a lot with tests and her power points actually do help and I thought her pace was fine in class. You don't even need to copy down notes in class. All of her power points are online.
If you put in ANY effort, this class is easy. Tons of bonus points throughout the semester, her powerpoints are posted, and she gives multiple tries at online quizzes. Her tests come straight off her slides plus what she says in lecture, and TAs give reviews with practice questions. Uses clickers for attendance, so go to class and you'll be fine.
Holyfield is on the good side of average. Her class is pretty easy unless you're just really unmotivated or a bad test-taker. Be sure to do the extra credit quizzes in cengage!
She's an awesome teacher and offers so much extra credit its unreal. The tests can be tricky if you don't do the book readings or listen to her lectures, but you get to drop a test. There's no final too! She takes attendance using clickers, but posts her powerpoints online. Super easy class if you give some effort.
Dr. Holyfield was an awesome professor, and offered many extra credit opportunities to make sure you succeeded to the best of your ability.
I liked this professor at the beginning of the semester, she is really caring and is very accessible if you need to talk to her. But, her lectures were very confusing and didn't line up with the textbook. She drops some assignments and her TA's gave out study guides so the class was easy, but her delivery of the content was too hard to follow
She's a very energetic and passionate professor so learning in her lectures are fun, but sometimes the lectures sometimes didn't make sense and the tests are more challenging than the study guide. You really have to do your own research about the things that don't make sense but the class is still easy and fun. She gives a lot of extra credit!!
Dr. Holyfield is very kind but doesn't move quickly enough through the material for the class to be effective. The lectures are long, and the test questions are straight from the book. She offers tons of extra credit and makes sure that you are her top priority. She is very understanding if you have a conflict and does whatever she can to help out.
Dr. Holyfield was an excellent teacher. She is super enthusiastic when giving lectures and really strives to engage students. You get multiple attempts on the chapter quizzes and TONS of extra credit. The only reason I didn't get an A in this course was because I was being a lazy freshman and didn't study for the tests. Just don't be lazy.
Took this class for credit and it was soooo easy!! She makes study guides before every exam which tells you everything you need to study. Lectures can get a little boring, but at times she's hilarious!! EASY A
Dr. Holyfield was so flexible and helpful. She's very straightforward about what she wants from you and expects you to be able to adhere to it. You have to stay on top of things if you don't you'll just screw yourself over. She gives you a lot of opportunities to earn points (extra credit and clicker points) and she's cool.
SAVE YOURSELF, this is by far the worst teacher I've ever had. She would not respond to my emails, didn't care about her class, and honestly, she's just crazy. I barely passed, she also doesn't really care if you have CEA accommodations.
Dr. H is something else. Her powerpoints are all over the place, so I recommend reading as well. She is very funny and kind to her students. She also offers a lot of extra credit, and tests aren't hard as long as you pay attention to what she says in class.
She's an ok teacher. It's a freshman level class so she uses those awful online textbook programs where there is homework with little quizzes every night. If you study a normal amount you should get an A
Holyfield is an amazing professor and you will make the grade you deserve in her class. She cares about her students and the world we live in, her lectures are very inspirational.
Lori Holyfield is very passionate about sociology, and tries to engage her students in every lecture. She gives plenty of opportunities to make a good grade (attendance, bonus, extra attempts), so as long as you read and show up, youll be good. She is a little all over the place, but shes very caring of her students.
This class was so easy. Dr. H was a little scattered but it really didn't matter. Show up, listen, and study the night before and you'll get a high A. This reminds me of a high school class so take it if you want to lighten up your workload.
Professor Holyfield was great. Definitely recommend taking her for sociology to meet your social science requirement. Her lectures are interesting and the tests aren't that bad. You need to study for them but not an overwhelming amount, and they are exactly what we learn in class.
Pretty easy A, and it was pretty interesting. She was passionate about what she taught.
Dr. Holyfield is such a nice woman but lecture is so scattered. She usually doesn't give out study guides until the day before exams if she gives one out at all. I relied heavy on my classmates making a quizlet. The test were so confusing and a lot of it was lecture and textbook heavy. You will have to study for this class.
Very scattered lectures and would jump around from topic to topic. She was never really clear on what we needed to do and the class calendar changed all the time. Attendance is mandatory and attendance questions are based on if you got them right. Even if you did show up you could get a 0 for getting the question wrong.
Professor Holyfield is big on lectures and clicker points. (Don't miss clicker points, it makes a huge difference in your grade) My only issue is she relies on the TAs way too much. I emailed her with a question, and her response was that it wasn't her job to answer my questions and that I needed to email a TA. The content it' self was not hard.
Doctor Holyfield is a very sweet lady with good intentions. She really wants her students to all have A's and you will if you complete all the extra credit. TAs run the class and it's very annoying. The clicker is a must. It's $20 at the start of the semester and it's how you get attendance points. DONT skip these. Exams and quizzes are a breeze.
I love Dr. Holyfield! She truly cares about her students and makes sure that they know that she is available to answer all questions. Attendance quizzes are given in her lectures so it is important to be there and pay attention. If you attend lecture, take notes, you will definitely pass. What you put in is what you get.
Dr Holyfield is a very sweet prof who wants her students to pass. Gives a very clear outline of how the grade is calculated at the beginning of the semester and drops lowest exam grade. Lectures are interesting and she teaches them well. Attendance points give your grade a boost and if you pay attention in class you wont need to study much.
Holyfield claims at the beginning of the semester that she will not teach out of the book, she is going to do her own thing. but you have to read it outside of class or you will fail the exam. she stood on stage and talked about body positivity for an hour and it wasn't even on the test. all of my friends with other professors are passing.
I have her for Social Psychology. She is a very passionate lecturer and is super hilarious. Very hard not to love her. I will say she can be a bit disorganized (because she is so busy) and there is a LOT of reading for the class. However, it is an easier A for a 3000-level class.
Dr.Holyfield loves and has a great passion for sociology! Her tests are very textbook and lecture heavy so make sure you show up to class and read the book. Take advantage of her office hours and tutoring that's how I got through this course!! Be prepared to put a lot of time into this class.
This class is a very easy A. If you just go to class (in class clicker points, 50 max and you can stop going after) do the study guides there's no way you wont finish with an a. Exams are in person, final optional and can't hurt your grade if you take it without needing to
I took online sociology and it was interesting and a nice easy gpa booster class. This class probably took me an hour per week with a quiz and sometimes a discussion post. Lori was very easy to reach and kept in touch with her online students.
