She is a very wonderful woman. You will get the most out of her class.

Lujan is a bad teacher. She assigns a whole lot of work and expects a lot from you since it's "college". Work is piled up for her class. I highly recommend not to take her.

This teacher is always late to class. Her lectures are straight from the book so it's not like you're learning anything directly from her. The tests that she gives has nothing to do with the book. More than half of the class has failed the past two tests. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!
BIGGEST MISTAKE I MADE WAS TO TAKE THIS TEACHER! DO NOT TAKE HER UNLESS YOU WANT TO TEACH YOURSELF. She is extremely unorganized and is always late, even by 30 minutes sometimes. She does not teach, so read the book and remember details if you want to pass. And she loves essays.
Hi, you people that wrote that Mrs. Lujan is "hella hard" must be pretty ****ing stupid. Either you feel asleep in her class and didn't pay any attention to her lectures, didn't read the book , or didn't show up (or maybe all 3). She's a fantastic professor whom you can learn alot from.
she is never discussing about what to study. always off topic n makes you read out of the book n she probably uses Qs frm the writer for the test/finals. she's always late n contradicts herself a lot too! i suggest you take another socio 10 teacher!
Easy class if you did your reading, but a lot of people became disinterested and lazy, thus they didn't do so well. Her discussions would typically be boring at first but the more the class participates the more interesting it becomes. Easy class if you don't mind reading.
People who get bad grades are lazy and don't do their reading. If you participate in class she tends to know you better thus you will have a much better time in class. Most of my class failed because they didn't read, and so the opinions on here are mostly of those people. She's a good teacher.
I like Mrs Lujan as a person, but as a teacher..that's a whole nother issue. And to the person who said everyone was stupid for not thinking she taught good, you have a mispelled word. she missed the first 2 days. she didn't keep to her syllabus. she talked about herself a lot. she went missing the last day of school. but overall, i liked the class a lot. she makes you think and if you read the book, it's relatively easy.

Mrs. Lujan is a good teacher. She'll talk a lot during class, and assigns group presentations that are very easy. Her homework assignments are 1 page papers on current events...it's so easy. her tests are a bit hard to study for, but as long as you read the chapters across the week, you should be fine.

Best professor ever I dont know what the rest are saying but curriculum is very thorough not a regular college course very fun.
Taught well, but went off on different topics alot. Homework was pretty simple, and so were tests.
If you plan on taking any of Lujan's classes, I highly suggest you read-and re-read these comments; even visit one of her classes to sample her teaching style. I'm in her Ethnic Film class, and while the weekly workload is fairly easy, it is inconsistent, abrubt, unexplained and unnecessary. So are her lectures. Basically she CAN'T teach properly!
She doesn't stick to the syllabus' schedule. We only took two tests including the final instead of three (which we were happy with).Her homework is easy and she's pretty flexible with everything. She really cares about what is going on today, but may ramble on. She has a good heart and is passionate. The load is easy and participation matters. Fun!
She is not a very good teacher. I felt like I was in high school all over again. I do NOT recommend taking this class.

Lori, Is a good person. She means well,you just have to talk with her and give her respect. Don't pack up early. She is into having fun and helping others out. She does go by the book a lot though. Just study the key words and you'll be fine! I think she is misunderstood sometimes. =)
lujan's a good person but doesn't mean her teachings good. she is so unclear with test dates & assignments & her lectures are boring. plus they have nothing to do with her tests...you gotta study ur a** off by reading the book. seriously you need to teach yourself to do well in the class
Class was ok.Teacher is boring, though.At days there's interesting class discussions about worldly topics and social/political issues in US,but normally you just take lots of notes.Exams(50 mc,2 essay Q)are mostly based on the book,but the lectures help also.Note:if everyone participates in class discussions ,less chap will be on exams.
This class was LAME. 1st day it was packed. & second day 13 people dropped. she just lives off the book and says we'll take 3 exams but end up only taking 2. we crammed the last chapter in the last week&the tests are ridiculously 80% of ur grade.U basically have to TEACH YOURSELF. U can't live just by her rambling lectures. no recommendation.

She told me i had to get an F to retake the class again, so I did it. I just found out thru another teacher that I could'v had a D and still retake the class. She gave me wrong info that will affect my GPA 4ever. She's is simply horrible! Btw, i took the class again w/ another teacher and got an easy A.

Lujan isn't as bad as people make her seem. She IS crabby at times, but if you are nice to her, she'll simply be nice back. Attendance is mandatory, tests are simple if you just study the notes you take in class, which you'll do every time. Just go to class, do your thing and leave. Don't talk back.
The teacher is retarded, she expects an in depth paper, that mentions all the level of analysis, but she only allows a 2 page double type paper. Super hard to put in all the information on that short of of paper. She also acts like a prick, and gives unequal treatment to students.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. . she demands more than she put out herself. a class with her is like playing the game CHANCE, though your GPA is nothing to play around with. she is of very little help. being SMART will not help you pass the class or a KISS ASS, but both will give you a nice grade, an "A" is no guarantee.

She is a GREAT professor! Honestly, she belongs at a university and not at a communtiy college. However, she is very unorganized which makes her a little unpredictable at times. She is also a democrat and hates republicans or anything related. She inspired me to vote, what can I say?!
lujan is a good teacher but very unorganized. class was easy but very boring. she gave us a listto choose from for our service learning hours but then got upset because the ones we chose were not to her liking. she even made two students pick another agency to do the hours while they were half way though. not fair at all. lets you make up exams.

Her exams are very unclear and hard to understand. Be prepared to write three to five pages for every one of the four midterms plus four analytical essays of two pages each one, including your sources, with a lot of examples from the films; not an easy thing to do in a two-page-essay. This teacher is always late, she generalizes her lecutres and power points lectures, her test are difficult. She confuses the class and mixes up her class material. Her class is so boring and it goes very slow we've only had one test and she often skips chapters we had a test on chapter 1and 2 only and now we've skipped to chapter 16 i don't reccommend taking her
PROS: Nice; inciteful; knowledgeable. CONS: Utilizes too much class time on current events rather than on the material she needs to cover; doesn't give specific dates on hw needed to be turned in or days of tests; tests are ridiculously worded confusingly; offers extra credit that requires students to attend lectures off campus.
Avoid if possible. One of the most boring, unpunctual, biased, off topic teacher at EVC. You'll just waste your money with her
She goes really slow so we only covered 2 chapters per test which. Often times she will go off topic and is disorganized. She tries to teach you know about the world you live in and what's good/bad in the world. Despite all this, her test are really easy if you follow her guidelines & she gives lots of EC. Everything is based on the book.
I had her for 2 classes. She was often late or didn't show up. She was antagonistic & combative with students. She interjects her own politics & opinions into the class & lecture, but would cut students off if they disagree with her. She will not let you do work that conflict with her stance. I had to go to the Dean because I was treated unfairly.
One of the worst teacher i ever had,off topic when it comes to every aspect of her lectures, unclear as to what she wants done i wasted 120dollars on getting the books that she insisted i get ,did not use them once...
CRAZY! Totally unorganized and late to every class. I spent a lot of time convinced I was failing her class but at the end of the semester wound up with a B. In the end, not sure if the B was worth all the crazy...
SOMETIMES HER TEACHINGS ARE VERY BROAD,NOTES ARE A DISASTER AND YOU'LL BE CONFUSED AND WON'T GET NOTHING OUT OF IT. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE INSTEAD TO SAVE YOU TROUBLE. HOWEVER TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ANY EXTRA CREDIT ASSIGNMENTS THAT SHE OFFERS. WAS ALWAYS 10-15 MIN LATE TO CLASS.

Lujan is a nice teacher but not recommended. She is late at least 15 min. She misses too many days, you will get nothing out of her don't take her.She does waste time on useless things like use the restroom during class or taking a walk.
Not a good teacher at all. Frequently started the films late then couldn't finish them. Many were available only in the library, so that made it harder. Treated the students like 5 year olds-took roll, then passed around a sign in sheet too. We had to take notes for our own use, but she insisted we line up at the end of class and get them signed.
Not recommended. I don't feel like I learned anything in her class. Don't really understand her lectures. She only gives 2 points extra credits on papers. Her exam are easy if you read the textbook / copy her lectures.

I was so excited to take this class until I learned the professor was changed & I was now in her class. She is NEVER on time, she missed two weeks of class straight once, & we only got through three chapters of the book. Why is she still a teacher? I've never hated a teacher this much.. I still got a B... But.. Take at your own risk =/

I really enjoyed her class.. she knows the subject well and made it very relatable. I had no interest in Soc but after taking her class im considering changing my major. I agree with some previous comments and she goes off a little but if you try to stay with it youll end up learning a lot. i would def. take her again :)

DONT TAKE THIS TEACHER! she moves really slow.. in one semester we only finished 5 chapters. also her lectures are very boring, and its mandatory to participate.Directions from her are always really vague. her tests are based entirely on the chapters, so theyre easy if you read the textbk. but overall i didnt learn much and wouldnt recommend her
The professor is very disorganized, and she never posts the due date or tells the class when stuff needs to be done very often, and when she does post something that is important, she often posts information at the last minute. The class talks about one subject in class, and then goes on a tangent. Your text is your best friend on the exam.
I enjoy her enthusiasm and passion for social change. But lectures... I felt like half the time she expected us to be leading the lecutres. 75% of class time is used talking about what's new in the world which is cool but I didn't really intrigue me. She knows her stuff, just takes forevor to get through the book.
Excellent thoughtful and caring goes slow but very thorough. Impassioned and she put on the hunger banquet which was a huge project , almost a classin itself . All in all a++
she is one of the professor motivates me to think critical. I became paying attention to the society, and changed my thinking of people and our systems. Before taking the class, I had mistaken about people. I believe they are the deviant and distributed the society but now I know they are not.

10-30 minutes late daily, always had food poisoning, doesn't respond to emails, very unorganized, lectures Were non reflective of tests. 3 assignments the entire semester. 1 essay presentation the first week of school, a test the 3rd week and the final. Only covered 2 chapters the entire semester. I don't reccomend this teacher
She's sooooooo disorganized and expects unrealistic things from you, like an essay written and powerpoint done in two days. she comes in late all the time, we spend most of the classtime on things that wont even be on the test! i was really interested in the beginning but now it' just tedious.

No one passes her exams. she is one of those teachers who will give you minimal direction for an assignment, or EXAM in my case, and wait till midnight the night before its due and change everything. she grades hard and gives no direction. never responds to her emails. other students with straight As fail! stayaway

I have a 3.6 GPA and manage to struggle in her class because of her UNCLEAR and transitory guidence. The highest grade in the class is a B- and everyone else had C's or D's. Not to mention most of theses students have high GPA'S. She shouldnt be allowed to teach at Evergreen College that board needs to take action.

Literally the WORST class I have ever taken. I have taken over 50 college classes and I'm a straight A student. Late constantly, does not explain any tests or homework assignments and when she does, she does so after it was due and changes the assignment. Be prepared to fail. She should not be allowed to teach. She degrades students. AVOID!
she's unclear in her lectures and often got off topic and spends the beginning of class discussing current topics, so if you're not a big fan of class discussions, steer clear. but it's not that bad, just say a few things and u get points. however, she is VERY unclear & u need to read ur textbook to pass tests. she also has an essay on tests :(
Test are incredibly hard. She loses her exams. She is very unorganized. She grades less than a point. People end up dropping her. Her multiple choice is very hard, and essays as well. She won't give back the test until the drop date is passed, so you wouldn't know that you are failing. She gets irritated easily when you ask "dumb" question.
Do not take this professor. She is very confusing and makes it hard for us to succeed. She always comes late, she is also unprepared and unhelpful
Definitely a tough teacher, but I really enjoyed her class. Textbook is a must, I didn't pay much attention during lectures but just reading the book helped me get a B or above on all the tests. There's 2 essay questions per exam but they aren't bad since she basically gives you the answer before the actual test. Extra credit is offered!
She is very nice and will always give you chances to make up work, she's unorganized, always late and kind of grades hard but if you show up, participate, do all the extra credit, even if you dont do that well in tests, you will pass. Just show her you care about your grade and she will let you redo or make up almost anything.
Took her Ethnic Film class, and it was great! Every film was followed by an engaging discussion, and homework was to turn in a 1-2 page review on the movie. There was one final essay we had to write, regarding any common themes throughout the films. She was always accessible and approachable regarding any concerns about grades/hw.
