Good professor, very clear lectures, very clear criteria, very clear on what she wants from you. Tough homework grader but more forgiving on midterms. Her tests are long and hard to finish on time. Also fairly strict with class policies. Overall a very good professor, but be prepared to put in effort because this class is quite a bit of work.

Most 1111 classes are taught to nurture a student's writing so they become accustomed to college writing standards. Instead, Professor Rafter teaches a weed-out class. The class was so bad that a student dropped out after the add/drop period, knowing they won't be able to achieve sophomore status without their 1111 credit.

Dr. Rafter is great at explaining the concepts in lecture and she's accessible in office hours if you need help going over anything you don't understand. The graded assignments are difficult and long so make sure to start early on them. Tests are a time crunch but are fair. You'll generally do well if you know the material plus she curves her exams

Entire class felt like it was geared against the students. Lectures are conceptual and difficult to follow, graded assignments are impossible to solve, and tests are long and painful. By far the worst (and most unnecessarily punishing) class I've taken here. She has the reputation for a reason. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, TAKE A DIFFERENT PROFESSOR.

If you do the homework diligently, the pop quizzes should be relatively easy. The exams are doable if you study well. The entire course was decent until the final, which was the hardest test I've ever taken in my life. No matter how well you do throughout the semester, the final will spank the soul outta your body and give you terminal depression.

She is helpful, hilarious, and puts a lot of effort into teaching. But her exams are extremely difficult. Other sections have 8-9 questions in 75 minutes, hers has 12-13 in 50 minutes. Finals are soul-crushing. Legends say it's even harder than some national olympiads! If you are not extremely passionate about math, run away from her.

somehow tough grading because you might lose half of the points even if you do the whole problem right(process) and you might only lose one point for totally wrong thoughts(I experienced all these in her class) test heavy, really have to study hard for an A, lectures are good but def not enough for understanding

I had Dr. Lori Rafter for multivariable calculus, and she was generally an amazing professor --> excellent teaching and hilarious. The course was hard but doable (except the last unit and the final were challenging). HW was hard as well, but, again, her teaching was overall excellent in my experience -- hence the 5.

Professor cold called students often and gave hard exams, however in fairness she did curve them 10 percent, but the average was a 60-70% on each midterm. Her graded assignments were hard and many people had a 40% average on the homework. If you want to get better at math take her, but beware of her harsh grading on some tests.

Dr. Rafter is incredible. She's a charismatic, hilarious lecturer. Also a very nice person, super helpful, and very passionate about math. However, if you are not ready to spend 5 days a week doing math for 2 hours, you will not get a grade above B. If you have a good foundation in math, A is achievable, but lots of work is still required.

The reviews scared me going into the class but I honestly loved her. The class is very challenging but she has been teaching this class for YEARS and it shows. She is very helpful in office hours and genuinely wants to see you succeed. She does cold call but it isn't scary and there's minimal pressure. Homework is not graded but necessary to do.

Dr. Rafter is incredible at teaching her subject. If you don't skip lecture and do all of your homework, it should be easy to pass. That said, she makes really hard exams andd p-sets, so be wear. Her quizzes are often quite easy however as thye are essentially just homework questions to ensure understanding of previous material. Would highly rec

Enjoyed material. Disliked structure. Worked a lot to keep up w/ fast pacing. Even taking AP Stats/Calc I, II, III before, was still very hard because I felt p sets/exam was much harder than practices from lectures/textbook. Never took Rafter before, but others said they never finished her exams + taking it Pass/Fail. Don't take it! I warned u.
