Dr. Slavin is VERY helpful!! i highly recommend her for lab...i wish i could've taken her for lecture as well!!!

So far, I am so pleased with Dr. Slavin for Chemistry 124. I have not had her yet for lab, but heard she has a great teaching style, explains concepts, and is very helpful. So far, she has done this. I wished I had her last semester! She really cares about her students-her other class had a B average. Take her if you can!

Dr. Slavin is very helpful. She cares about her students' understanding of the material. Her lectures are organized well and she gives you a power point slide presentation packet so you don't have to take a ton of notes. Great teacher. Take her!

Just be sure to be on top of homework and assignments.

She gives very organized notes that correspond to PPT slides, which are lectured over in class. Time spent on homework/OWL can be considerable. I highly recommend taking this instructor.

Dr. Slavins makes lab very easy. She accepts pre-lab assignments at the end of the lab. She goes through step-by-step how to do the experiment, and will often give the math equations necessary.

Dr. Slavin is by far the best professor I have ever had! She is crystal clear on what she expects from her students and is more than willing to help them if needed. Her tests are mostly old OWL problems and homework problems so there are no surprises. If you have to take chemistry take it with her!

Dr. Slavin was a great professor! She has the patience of a saint! Walking into Gen Chem 1 without prior chemistry experience is by no easy, but Slavin is very reasonable in her grading and gives parital credit on tests. This class is not a piece of cake but it truly helps to have a decent professor with a personality and who's willing to help out.

Very good teacher. Her class is hard, and she can get nit-picky about things like spelling and percent error. However, if you have good attention to detail, you should do fine. Just be prepared to work for your grade.

SLavin is awesome! she is very clear in lecture. you have to study when you go to this class. her test is quite hard cause she asks everything she went over in class. she's a little bit strict in grading. you will understand more about Chemistry in her class. basically, BE PREPARED when you want to take her. My favorite teacher so far attending JCCC. She can have a fast pace with homework. But doing it just makes the exams easy. Her grading is a little strict,but her personality makes up for it.

She's a great teacher, not easy, but if you pay attention and do the work you'll end up with a clear understanding. And, she's a sweetheart, and a hottie.

Hardworking professional, definitely wants students to succeed. Assigns lots of homework. Easy points if you complete all, but grade will suffer if you do not. Provided review guides to help prepare for quizzes/tests. Scheduled study sessions for final exam prep. Lecture only but still had cool demos that allowed students to SEE the chemistry.

Chemistry is a hard class but Slavin is a great teacher. She is very kind and wants her students to succeed. She offers office hours almost every day to come ask questions or check your homework with her before its due. Get ready to work your butt off! She gives tons of homework.

Dr. Slavin is great. She's always willing to help you understand what you're learning. She does tons of demos in class, even for just lectures, to get the topic across for those visual learners. It's obvious she loves chemistry. Just know, she does assign lots of homework, online and book, though she does have extra credit from time to time.

She is the chair of the chemistry department so she is available most days for help. She is a tough grader and will take off for significant digits and not labeling phases. Overall I'm glad I took her as she does a good job at preparing students for organic chemistry. Just be ready to commit 10+ hours a week in addition to lecture to succeed.

Professor Slavin is incredible. She makes chemistry seem easy and interesting. She does assign a lot of homework but it is helpful for the exams. Her lectures are really good and I would go to all of them so you are not behind. The textbook is helpful for if you miss a day or need to clarify something ( you also have to have the Owl code).

I had Dr. Slavin for chem I and chem II. Hands down best professor I have had in college. I wish she taught organic. Class was always interesting. I did study my tail off but man was it worth it. Stay on top of homework for this class. She always answered my questions in and out of class.

Test heavy but not by her choice. Cares about students and their success. Explains very clearly and has plenty of study hours. Able to check HW before turning it in. I took Chem 1 with Lori and she makes me want to take Chem 2, even though I dont need to. She is very organized and graded assignments and tests really fast. She honestly is so adorable, and so fun to talk to. I never get bad grades in science but in her class I did get a C, with chem things can get particular Ive learned. Overall, I enjoyed it!

Lori Slavin is hilarious and definitely a great teacher to take. Chemistry is an exciting class and I loved it. The only downside about her chem class was loads of homework and studying you had to do. I loved her and if you need the credit, I would definitely take her. Prof. Slavin is honestly one of the best professors I've ever had! This is Gen Chem class so yes it is going to be difficult but she made is so much easier to handle. The class is going to be alot of work, Dr. Slavin makes great lecture videos to help you learn the material! 10 out of 10 would recommend- Take Gen Chem with Prof Slavin.

This was an online lab class, which could be interesting at times. For a 1 credit class, it was very difficult, but she goes over the math portions beforehand on Zoom, and you get to work in small groups to complete lab reports. There is a lot of required memorization, and all quizzes are timed and/or video proctored. She gives good feedback!

I took this class online during the summer. There was a textbook, but I only used it to help with concepts I wanted to better understand from the video lectures. She explains everything very well in the lectures and provides note packets which were extremely helpful. I really enjoyed how she set up this class. I always knew what was due and when.

Take Lori Slavin! She made Chemistry easy and she will come down to whatever level you are at and raise you up. Also, her character is impeccable. One day her student came in crying, she paused the lecture, and took the student aside to figure out what was wrong. The entire class was patient because of how well we all got along. Would take again.

Chem has never been my strong suit and I found this class to be pretty difficult, but Professor Slavin wants to see her students succeed. I took the summer hybrid course from Dr. Slavin. It is really fast paced but she is super organized and keeps you on pace with a daily schedule.
