A very easy teacher...dont have to go to class...JUST DONT LEAVE IN THE MIDDLE OF LECTURE! She drops the 4 lowest test scores...but then again, fall of 06' was her first time teaching at state, so she may change her rules...she has the EASIEST quizzes, midterms..mos likely final as well! Just be opened minded about religion, you'll pass with an A!
She is a very loving professor who clearly cares about her students. Dropped the 4 lowest quiz grades. You have to be in class for notes. Quizzes and tests are on the lectures. The final consisted on "recycled" quiz questions. Only 2 reflection papers. You'll definitely pass!!!
Prof. Stewart is a very sweet teacher. Easy quizzes and exams and the paper are based on self reflection. Go to class b/c the notes are what she quizzes you on. Very nice lady, I recommend you take her. Not a boring class either.
Shes a very nice lady whos always willing to answer questions. She speaks softly sometimes so its good to sit somewhere in the front. Quizzes are easy and mostly from the lectures and theyre not posted up on blackboard so youre gonna have to go to class. Papers are basically self reflection with no research required.
i thought the class was pretty easy. quiz is based off of the powerpoint, study guides are given out for the midterms which is just recycled quiz questions, midterm/final isnt cumulative. 2 reflection based papers, drops 2 quizzes. if youre a shy and dont wanna be called on, dont talk. if you raise your and ask things, she'll rememeber your name
umm...y are people saying she is hard?! HAhAhahah!! funny. anyways, she is sooooo easy! In ur reflection paper be broad in opinons not one-minded [[duh]] and u wont get a negative response....[[she had to rip some of my paper off...i think she was being rude]]] but anyways...TAKE HER!! she is sweet, kind and so easy! quizes are a since IF YOU STUDY
Really cool teacher. She has a lot of knowledge in religion, her quizzes are a little tough, but the Midterm and Final were easy(she gives a great study guide). Attendance isn't required but I suggest it because she is fun, she expands the knowledge in the book, and she adds participation at the end of the semester
She used to drop 4 quizzes, now its 2! powerpoint lecture is useless, you must really read the book to ace the quizzes. that duH comment below, you must be a typical freshie haha, ALL in all its not Really Easy or Hard, You must work to earn your grade, and u have to read, its a must! she even said so! study and read and it should come along good
Great teacher, very helpful, has 10 quizzes and drops two lowest. one midterm and a final (has great study guide, i aced both by by studying it), all the quizzes are from the powerpoint. Go to her office hours to communicate with the professor or just hang out and you're sure to get a better grade then your percentage!! =]
She knows her stuff, but she's so boring! There's really no use in going to her class because she doesn't take attendance anyways. As long as you complete the study guide and study it, you'll do fine on your tests. You don't need the book; you don't even have to do the reading. The notes are the same as the reading.
She was a great teacher overall!! Easy class and really intertesting. Very helpful if needed, and was always concerned about her students. If you want a professor who knows her stuff Lori is where to go. She is absolutely amazing! Awesome teacher, awesome class!!
Very spiritual and calm lady, which usually made my eyes droop while she was lecturing in a dark room. But you can tell she has a passion for world religion-she goes SO in depth in her notes. She has boring movies, her quizzes were fairly easy. The midterm and final are papers. Take advantage of the study guides!!
Prof. Stewart is a GREAT teacher. She is very wordly and openminded. She is willing to help anyone who needs it. Tests are EASY, and she is very interesting (good stories). Her calm voice has the same soothing effect on me that the massage chairs do at Sharper Image. TAKE THE CLASS!
Very helpful, passionate teacher, study guides helpful and going to class everyday helps but not required to do well. Overall class was very interesting!!
I felt like I was going to yoga rather than class with this lady.. she's a tad off her horse. Her lectures are very liberal and I don't think someone teaching a religious studies class should let that show through her lectures. She seems to love Islam and hate Christianity. Other than that, tests are mostly memorization. I got a B.
She is a great proffessor - we had a quiz every few chapters(which she game us a study guide for). No big exams. We wrote a paper for the midterm and final. They were both regarding what we had learned and relating the information from lectures into our own life. I would recommend her to anyone. take this class!
Professor Stewart is a fun and interesting person. She seems to have tried out every religion and can give personal experiences from all of them. Exams are often but simple with study guide. Journals are also easy points. Going to class helps but not every day is required...
I loved this class. Her priority is for her students to not only learn the traditions but to reflect on them. Her tests are after each religion and they're straight to the point and easy to study for. You learn a lot in her lectures which aren't boring at all. Attendence isn't counted but you won't want to miss class.
I loved this class! She really made it interesting and is super nice. Def would recommend this class to anyone who has an open mind. Not hard to get an A at all as long as you study what she puts on the study guides. Her tests follow the study guides.
VERY calming class! Her class is a bit like a meditating class! She has several tests and reflection journals. Put your personal experience and put a lot of emotions in your journals and you'll get full point! She's very nice and interesting. If you study, you'll get an A. I didn't but I still got a B. :] Take this class! I recomenned!
Professor Stewart is one of the best professors that I have had! Her class is very intresting! Even though there are a lot of tests, it was good for me because then I had more points to get a better grade in her class! I would defintely recommend this class.
This class was pretty interesting and easy. The readings can be alot of information but she basically tells you all you need to know during class. Journal entries are pretty easy, just make sure you treat it as a journal and not as an essay on the topic and you should get full points.
interesting and easy class. gives study guides that have EXACTLY what is on the tests. you can find all answers from lecture notes and book. gives tons of extra credit. loved her and class
Professor Stewart is great! She's such a nice woman who is really helpful with any questions or concerns you might have. She's really lenient with late work. Tests are DIRECTLY off the study guide, which comes straight from lecture notes. Tests throughout the semester, all really easy. Journal entries once a week. Easy class. REALLY INTERESTING TOO
Took for both 101 & 370. 101 is chill, she really opens your eyes if you're willing to listen. 370 is sweet, respects upper division students. She is more about what you take away from the experience than homework, tests (which are simple for that reason), etc. She's a great lady...really worth taking a class with her.
She's fantastic. She cares about everyone in her class and is very approachable. Tests are easy, and she cares more about how much a person learns in her class rather than grades. Has real world experience about the religions and topics she discusses which makes her one of a kind. Take her! ^_^
Kind of all over the place. Really nice. She can be very vague about assignments but she is very open to let the class run itself.
Best teacher ever. She keeps you interested in the topic. I learned so much in this class. She really makes you think. Coolest lady ever and so sweet. Easy tests and relevant assignments. I loved this class!
great teacher!very kind. offers study guides& some notes so that you don't have to worry about frantically writing all the notes down.journals once a week.a test for each religion she discusses.1 midterm & 1 final.you don't need the workbook and textbook was hardly used.overall great class.
she takes attendance. and does not like when you try to leave early. she will call you out on it! She is all over the place and her lectures are not much of a lecture. she goes off the subject A LOT! there are no tests =) just discussion questions from the reading. A lot of group work and group discussions
AWESOME professor! Class can be unorganized but a lot of fun! I learned more in this class than in my entire religious education! She really bonds with her students and cares about them a great deal. Reading wasn't too bad but make sure to keep up with it. Visit her office if possible. BEST RELIGION TEACHER at SDSU!
By far the best teacher at San Diego State university. Extremely easy class if you show up and take notes. Barely use the textbook and the study guide always helps. Take her every chance you get.
Oh my goodness, nicest teacher ever. She treats you like a human being instead of just another student. She makes exceptions when you're late, responds to every question you have, and is a quirky, funny person. She really cares about what she does, which means a lot. NEED the book. Questions plus an easy write-up every week. Discussions are relaxin
what an AMAZING teacher. She cares about each one of her students, and makes you feel as if your an important part of each class. She knows lots about religion, and has so much to share. She opens your eyes to different ways of looking at things, and it really makes you think. I would recommend this class to anyone!
professor stewart is an amazing teacher and you can tell she really loves teaching. her lectures were interesting and on top of that the class is easy..her study guides cover almost everything on the tests so study them and youll pass
very good teacher! knows her field and teaches it in a n unbiased fashion. funny and entertaining. easy class if you study a little and pay attention.
Has a lecture by lecture plan and sticks to it most days. Textbook is very important for the questions that are due at the end of the week. Worth 25% of your grade so do them. Attendance does matter and is worth a lot. Prof. Stewart knows much about the topic, however she really values class participation and wants to here from her from the class.
Great professor. Has so much insight and experience that she can share with you. Don't really need the book if you go to lecture. Take this class, I loved it.
This is ONLY class I actually look forward to going to. Stewart is my by far, my favorite teacher at state and her class is fun and enjoyable. The class is easy because she makes the material very interesting. She knows her stuff.
She is a great professor. I love the way she teaches, the class is not hard as long as you go to lectures, there is a test for every religion, but they are not hard is the basic stuff, you need to learn a bunch of new vocab, but again is easy..TAKE HER SHE IS GREAT..& really cares for her students.
Great!
Prof. Stewart is one of the most amazing, helpful, most understanding professor I've had so far at State. She makes everyone laugh w/ her jokes and keeps the class very interesting. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND for students to take her class because there's no chance of passing the class unless your super lazy to do the work which are very manageable. =)
Most understanding professor I've ever had, and honestly a good person. One of the few profs I'd love to know outside of class! So caring about students, and will tailor the class to what you think works and what doesn't. Soft-spoken and accepting, I really loved her!
Best prof at state, hands down. Don't need the book if you come to every lecture. Funny!!! Great human being
i really enjoyed this class. she's so caring and sweet and i love listening to her lecutre. she's just so insightful and interesting i could sit there and listen to her talk all day. and she really cares about her students and tries to make the class as easy as possible. if you pay attention & study the tests are super easy and so are the journals
Easiest class ever. SO helpful, SO nice. If you don't get an A, you're doing something very wrong.
Prof. Stewart is AWESOME! First day of class she may seem like a bad teacher but after the 3rd day she is so sweet and caring. Gives study guides for tests on each religion. 4 Journals during the semester, not very hard. Final is not cumulative. Would definitely recommend. Study 30 mins before the test and u will get an A in the class :)
Okay, if you got anything less than a B in this class, give it up: you're lazy. This class was so EASY. I got an A- and the only reason for the minus was that I forgot to do one of the 4 journals (don't forget to do those!). This class is an easy A and she is a WONDERFUL and truly beautiful human being, inside and out. You're lucky if you get her!!
Professor Stewart is an amazing human being! Her class is very easy if you attend and commit to do your work. 4 Journals, 5 religions[one exam on each]. Shegives you study guides crystal clear if you study what she asks for you will do great. Do the study guides early and just study an hour before the exam :). I got an A :D
One of the best professors at SDSU. Loves teaching, helpful, nice. Class is extremely easy. Fully recommend.
I adore her. She is funny, a great teacher, and understands what a 3 unit GE should consist of. Class isn't completely necessary because she posts the lectures online a couple days before the test. She drops the lowest test too! Journals are a hassle but bs-ing was easy. No book needed! Easy class which I enjoyed thoroughly.
Great teacher, easy A! No need to buy the book she posts all powerpoints online. 7 test plus a midterm and final-not cumulative. Test are an easy A if you do the study guide. She doesn't try to trick you. 4 easy journals and 1 extra credit. Take her!
This class rocked my world! Lori is so knowledgeable and allows the students to express their own ideas in a safe environment. This class changed my life and I adore Lori! Class is pretty easy, just follow direction and it's an easy A
An easy class to pass with an A. She provides the class with a study guides before the test which helps a lot if you haven't been paying attention in class. BEWARE: If you go in with an open mind it will change your views on life.
Amazing teacher! You really will learn in this class. No HW, No tests. Just go to class write one page reflections on how the reading made you feel and do a creative final (drawing, painting, poem, video, etc.) Easy A.
TAKE HER CLASS! She is the best professor I've ever had at state. Lori is a beautiful individual, and you can't help but enjoy the lectures. She gives study guides for every chapter exam and midterm, as well as posts her ppts to blackboard. You won't regret it :)
Amazing teacher, very straight-forward and down-to-earth. Provides a very clear, honest study guide for all exams. Easy grader and cares about students.
The class is awesome and interesting, you will sure learn from it. All you need to do is pay attention during the lecture, do the studyguides and you will have an A in the class. She posts the lectures and studyguides online so its easy to access later (I recommend going to class). Also, u dont need the book if u r attending her class.
Super easy class. I highly recommend it if you are looking for an easy A. I had friends who only showed up on test days and got As. Not to mention, Lori is awesome!! She is very informative yet very caring about her students. My favorite teacher this semester by far.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I took this class because someone said it was easy, I ended up absolutely loving the subject and Lori! The tests are matching vocab and multiple choice(SUPER EASY), no homework. I literally studied 20 minutes the night before and got all A's. Hands down favorite class/professor and i'm a BUSINESS MAJOR! I would highly recommend
i choose to take stewart at 10 am over another class later in the day (with a low rated professor), and it was totally worth it. tests match all lecture material so go to her class! shes wonderful to listen to and one of the smartest professors ive ever heard speak. shes got me considering a minor in religions... :) seriously though, take her class
If you are a person that have trouble learning vocabulary and have a hard time going through the exam questions, maybe its not for you. For me it wasnt. People saying that its an easy "A" class, is not! I put too much effort and Im still in the C Range. Not that im lazy. Study Guides almost matches the quizzes but if youre in my situation, GL!
Do not buy the book. Exams are directly what the study guide says, just memorize a sentence for each section and BAM you will get an A. Easy class but mainly because she is SO fabulous and great at teaching. Wonderful, and really cares about her class. TAKE THIS CLASS
AMAZING professor. i highly recommend taking her, the powerpoints and the study guides are exactly what is going to be on the tests. you will receive an A guaranteed unles you are lazy. she really cares about her students and will help you if you ask. i LOVE HER! i only spent 5 weeks with her but i cried when i left on the last day.
She's so passionate. This is not just a class, it'll change your perspective on life. Her class is very fun and interesting. But she grades Reading Q's thoroughly, so include EVERYTHING! Easy and Fun getting that A. TAKE HER CLASS, you'll learn alot
Prof S is awesome. She genuinely knows what she is talking about and she really cares for the (300 person) class. test like every week and a half and journals. Light work loud and it helps that she's super funny too!
If there is a class I would recommend to anyone, regardless of major, it would be Rel 101 with Stewart. I felt as if I came out of the class with more of an open mind and less ignorant to other religions. There are 7 quizzes, two journals and two exams but all are ridiculously easy if you go to class. Stewart cares and it shows so take the class!
7exams, 1midterm, 1final, 2 journal entries. She provides study guides for all exams (mult. choice), which has most materials that will be covered on the test. Posts powerpoints online. Overall easy A, especially if you attend lectures and memorize study guide. Book isn't needed. Prof S is amazing! Has me considering a minor in religion. I <3 her!
She is the best professor I've ever had! Not only does she teach about the things in the course she teaches things that you use in your everyday life. Taking her class made me want to become a better person to others and the world. This professor is AWESOME! And the work is easy peasy ;)
She is a great teacher! Extremely knowledgeable on the subject and always willing to clarify or help. There are a few papers due throughout the semester, but are easy. Tests come mostly from the slides, but you need to read the book if you want a good grade in the class. Easy A if you try!
She knows every religion inside and out. I took this class during the summer, she believes in quizzes not tests. They are very easy as long as you memorize her study guides. She is easy going and understandable. Very funny, she makes jokes all the time throughout class. There are also journals you have to write, about yourself so its very easy.
She was an AMAZING teacher. Very passionate about what she teaches. If you struggle, which she makes it very hard not to, just talk to her about it and she's willing to help. I highly recommend her,the work load is very light and easy.
I took two courses with her. Very easy. Very helpful. Got A's. But then i went to other lectures and found out i had not learned squat. Think twice. Try taking Hansen or Mohammad and then you realize you are out of your league if you did not do lower divisions with someone else.
It seems like a simple class - weekly chapter quizzes and discussions throughout the semester, a subjective personal paper that has nothing to do with the class, BUT it isn't. participation exercises were given out of spite and the final wouldn't have been nerve wracking if we previously knew how she graded objectively - take with someone else.
She is the most genuine kindhearted person I've ever met. Anyone on this website who has anything negative to say about the way she makes you write a personal paper or think about thinks that "don't have anything to do with it", think again. Knowing yourself is important and she's trying to teach based on the connection you make. Grow up, open mind
Don't bother getting the book, just focus on the study guides throughout the whole semester and you will surely get a good grade in the class. The midterm and final are all the exact questions from all chapter test combined so just study those!
One of the best professors out there! Besides a weekly quiz (Straight from the book, multiple choice) and a small paper of what you learned each week, it was easy and informative. Don't be scared off of taking her. NO TEST, Final was a paper or project like art or stories, anything. AMAZING professor and easy A. You'd have to try hard to not pass
She is the most amazing professors in SDSU. She is always there for students and cares about everyone. attend to class its required but its also interesting. DO ALL THE QUIZES those count for the biggest part of your grade.
Nice enough lady, but this isn't about her; it's about her class. Unclear about what she wants and what is expected on exams. A lot of reading. Weekly bb tests. Not bad, but not exactly easy either.
BEST TEACHER EVEER !!! TAKE HER SUPER ESAY.
Prof Stewart is nice and the class is easy if you go to class and take notes because she doesn't post her PowerPoint lectures on BB. Reading the book is important if you plan not to attend the class everyday. If you want the book, I have it so just email me at reem_younis@yahoo.
Easy and interesting. Stewart is chill and passionate about the subject. A lot of people say it's boring, but it really isn't bad. Go to class because her powerpoints aren't online. Don't buy the book! If your class puts google docs up of the study guides you'll be good. The study guides are exactly whats on the tests. Easiest class I've taken
prof stewart is an AMAZING human being. she has such a kind heart and cares so so so much for her students. ch test for each religion. 7 total. 1 midterm, culmative for 1st part of class. final culmative for 2nd part. gives study guide for each. 1 journal, 1 site visit (1300 min words to receive a C). def requires some work, but worth it. RECOMMEND
the tests are easy providing you do the study guides usually someone makes a google doc that helps. The 2 papers are long and theres a lot of site visits for extra credit and the papers. If you use the book you will get an a if you don't you will get a b the material in exams is mostly lecture but some book you need to do both to do well.
U will read like there's no tomorrow or U will FAIL THE CLASS! She's interesting & funny. But she does not play games when it comes to grading. She will not take attendance but will randomly call out names from the roster each class to see if u are there. Midterm was tough ( she likes wordy papers). If u so much as sneeze she will ask if you're ok!
This instructor required the class to take an online survey of our individual views on various subjects to identify our religious affiliation based on the responses. This should only have been done for fun or as an optional assignment because our own religious views or lack thereof are our own business. This may have impacted grading of papers.
Love this woman. The class itself is incredibly easy--you show up, listen to her lectures (which are honestly very bearable and usually really interesting), study the VERY helpful study guides, and I don't see how you can get anything less than an A- She is very insightful and I admire how candid she is with her students. Would take her again!!
Lori Stewart is probably one of my favorite people ever. She's insanely inspirational, funny, caring and kind. Sure, you have to show up to class but her lectures are really interesting so they're never that tough to sit throughs. She expects a lot out of her students because she respects their intellect.
She is seriously hilarious !!! I always looked forward to attending class because she made the material so appealing. She seriously cares about the understanding and well being of everyone. She is a GREAT professor! TAKE HER!!
Some how professor Stewart is able to discuss religions without causing any division or tension. Generally these are sensitive topics but she so passionate and respectful of ALL religions. I only took this class as a grad requirement but it ended up being my favorite! AND she gives you a study guide before EVERY test!
One of the best professors at SDSU. A genuine, kind, extremely intelligent person that is worthy of great respect. Not an easy class, but not extremely difficult either. If you give this class the attention it deserves, you will get an A. Professor Stewart changed the way I look at the world and myself. Take her! Take her NOW!
Amazing professor! Easy A, and you walk out of the class with a clearer mind and much less stressed out. Take her! Take notes from her lectures, you don't need the textbook.
Well, what can I say that hasn't already been said? Prof S, seriously changed my entire life's perspective! She fosters stimulating conversations and emphasized unity throughout the semester. Academically, she is a total brainiac and makes learning exciting and fulfilling rather than stressful! TAKE HER!!!
What can I say, Professor Stewart is simply amazing! Her lectures are interesting and you leave class with a clear mind. Do the study guide and you will do fine!
Great professor! Has a great attitude and is really passionate about what she teaches. There is 8 exams for each religion studied, a midterm, a journal entry, and a final. Great reviews before tests!
Great prof! She is so inspiring with her stories and she really knows her stuff. Def a great class. I learned a lot and she opened my eyes to a lot of interesting things. I loved to go to her class!
one of the best
One of the easiest classes I took. The lectures and powerpoints during class can be long. but you won't need to go to them if she does a review the class before the final, and she did that most of the time. The reviews are essentially her reading the test to you word for word, so it makes the tests super easy.
Professor Stewert's class was extremely enjoyable! She truly cares about what she is teaching and cares about her students. There is a test for each religion and a paper. She gives reviews that are extremely helpful in preparing you for her tests. Great class to take!
One of the best professors I have had. She is honestly such a great person and loves what she is teaching. You won't need to come to class but I enjoyed the classes.
She was alright. Doesn't allow laptops in class, which I didn't appriciate. I don't write fast and take better notes when I can type. She claims that you learn better without electronics. I would like to decide for myself how I learn best. Tries too hard to be funny and gets off topic. Also doesn't keep her biased opinions out of lectures. eh
Overall, not that bad of a class. She has a tenancy to get really off topic telling stories and adds her personal opinions a lot. A lot of the material on the tests are not covered in her lectures. Didn't do well on the first half of the course but was still able to end up with an A in the class. Several mistakes in grading that had to be fixed.
Such an amazing instructor. You have to buy the books but don't worry, the answers for the reading quizzes can be found by skimming the book (hint: the answers are word for word!) You will get an A. The last class she gives extra credit for attendance and you only have to go on Fridays for the participation. Have fun taking this!
Lori Stewart is such an inspirational teacher! Really changed the way I process and think about all of life. She makes class something to look forward to and not something that is a drag. Quizzes and tests are very straight forward, very do-able. Come to class on Fridays for participation points.
If you miss a day of class make sure to get the slides missed because they are of great help. There is a test for every chapter, a midterm and a final with questions seen on previous chapter tests, a journal graded harshly by Her ta (take this serious).
Prof Stewart is a really good professor. She makes it clear what her expectations are, and if you follow them, it's a pretty easy A. The only reason I got a B+ is because I underestimated how hard the Christianity Test would be and waited last minute to do the journal. Read the book, do the study guides, and turn in journal and one quiz. easy A
Wonderful professor. One essay (not difficult) study guides and reviews are pretty much the entire exam. Easy A, with a professor that is genuinely invested. She has a strict no phone/laptop policy in her lectures, but honestly I was so intrigued the whole time, I didn't find the need for my phone.
Best professor at state!!! Her lectures will be your new form of therapy. The material was clear and interesting. You must take her!
I would recommend taking here class. There are 2 exams, chapter tests, and one paper. Her lectures are interesting and her tests are based on her lectures and study guides. Fairly easy class.
Everyone in this class loved her. I have a couple hundred units and I've never been in a class were so many people hugged the teacher, and it was because she was such a genuine person. She communicated that by her example and the teachings in the class were so profound, everyone life was changed from the experience. One of the best classes ever.
Has easy reading quizzes on blackboard every weekend, and easy in-class writing for participation once a week for participation. No exams, just a paper at the end (about 4-5 pages). If you aren't a religious studies major, then you will likely feel extremely out of place during lectures, but the class is an easy GE credit.
AMAZING PROFESSOR. Her class is relatively easy if you stick to the book and attend her lectures and she also gives out study guides. Even though she usually runs lectures, you can tell she genuinely cares about all her students, so if you have any troubles with the class or personal, contact her.
This was the first RELS376 class taught. It was very interesting and we learned about AmerIndian, Buddhist, and the Pope's thoughts on the environment and our connection to it. Professor Stewart is such a warm person and you leave her class feeling at ease. There are participation papers every other class, quizzes every weekend, and a final paper.
I teared up her first three lectures. The realest professor you will every have. She is so down to earth and her voice just fills you with warmth. She really cares about her students and listens to everyone with an open mind and heart. Just study her study guides, the hardest part for me was memorizing the vocab.
Loved her! She is very nice and loves the topics she discusses. Take her & thank me later very easy A!
Stewart is amazing and incredibly passionate about everything she teaches. She cares so much about every student and encourages us to embrace unity, diversity, and love in our daily lives. Would definitely take more classes with her.
Stewart is a great prof who really cares about her students. Her lectures are very engaging and information and you can tell she is truly knowledgable on the subject. She gives study guides for every test and attendance isn't mandatory, but tests definitely do come straight from lecture notes. She genuinely wants you to do well and is a great prof.
Stewart is a great professor, cares a lot about the students and the material. Class is very simple and tests are exactly like the study guide. Her lectures are easy to follow and it is overall a great class. Plus no actual homework but light reading
Changed the grading scale in the middle of the semester, without telling the class. Tough grader on the 1 journal assignment, but exams are super straight forward with the study guides. Go to the class before the exam for the review, and create a google doc with the class and you'll get an A on the exam
I loved taking her class. She has an unique way of teaching, however once you get used to her ways the class becomes easier. She puts out study guides that tell you what the chapter tests are going to be about. Recommend going to all the classes and take notes if you do this you'll pass no prob.
One of the best teachers I've ever had, high school included. She is the nicest and funniest lady and her lectures were always super interesting. I feel like I learned a ton while also not feeling overwhelmed. She puts out study guides for all of her tests and doesn't assign homework. Take her if she fits into your schedule.
Great Prof and a great person too. She really cares about you learning rather than just memorizing the thing and pass the test. Lectures were really interesting and useful. Gave me a lot of information I have never known before about Religions.
She is the most amazing teacher, she has so many fascinating stories she makes you want to come to class. Attendance isn't mandatory but lectures are important. The book isn't necessary if you go to every class, but it helps understand the lecture in more depth. She DOES NOT allow any electronics though.
This class is very lecture heavy. If you go to class she basically gives you the answers to the tests. She is also the sweetest person I've ever met! I had a personal thing I was going through this semester and she was really willing to work with me when I missed class! I WOULD RECOMMEND HER TO EVERYONE! EASY A!
LOVED THIS CLASS!! Prof Stewart is amazing! She made the material super interesting and gave really inspiration talks to the class. The exams are pretty straightforward. You don't really need the textbook, it's all based on the powerpoints. No homework, just need to attend class for notes and study those notes. Great GE course!
Hands down the best professor I had in college, maybe even ever.
She's a real sweetheart that cares about her students. Show up to class, show her respect, follow her no-technology rule, and listen. Everything that you need to know for the tests, she will cover in class, so be sure to take notes. She gives great study guides, but just don't take advantage of her. She will give you everything you need to pass!
Prof Stewart is seriously the best! :) She's a genuinely nice and caring person and her lectures are always so inspirational. Her class is super easy! She gives study guides for each test (5 tests total), and one journal assignment. Her tests are straight from the study guides and are super simple. She also offered extra credit one or two times.
One of the best professors I've ever had. She genuinely cares about the material and her students. Her tests are easy but fill in, and she gives study guides and always has review sessions. The final is not cumulative and she occasionally offers extra credit opportunities. One reflective journal for which she offers insightful feedback.
This class was very easy to pass, it is NOT mandatory to attend. Her tests are very simple, if you memorize the vocab the night before you'll get an A on the test. She's very passionate about her subject and you do learn a lot about different religions. Do not buy the textbook, I got an A- in the class without it.
Professor Stewart is hands down the best professor I have ever had. We had to read three different books, but honestly the books were so interesting that it didn't feel like work. She gave us lots of helpful advice and really opened up my eyes about earth and our connection to it. We had participation papers every week & a paper as a final.
She's a very good lecturer, she's not boring at all. The content is really interesting as well. Her tests are super easy, just study the vocabulary before the class or the night before and you'll do fine. I did not need the book, everything was on the lectures. One of my favorite professors at SDSU. She shows students she cares.
This professor has massive ADD. She goes off on random tangents. She likes talking about her spouse and her past. Which is fine if it didn't cut into the time she should spend going over the questions she expects you to know. She expects you to read passages from various authors and know the answers to questions she makes up.
I love Prof Stewart! Such a kind lady and her lectures really do inspire you. Tests are very easy - everything is on the study guide. Don't buy the textbook, just take really good notes and you're set. Tip: Whatever is highlighted in bold on her powerpoint slides is what is on the test!
Very narrow minded She expects you to read vague, broad passages and interpret them When she goes over the passages in class, and your interpretation is different from hers she tells you your wrong and gets mad at you for not doing the reading Tests are all essay questions. No multiple choice like it should be
The material in this class is best for seminars not for school. Text is way too confusing and th professor gets upset at you if you don't understand it.
This class is so ridiculously hard it rating should be 100 instead of 5. Professor is also extremely narrow minded, its either her way or the high way
Professor Stewart is knowledgeable and enthusiastic. There are three chapter exams which count for 45% of your grade. This is the class that you have to least worry about because she provides you with a study guide and bolds key terms on powerpoint slides. Definetely take her plus enjoy her "Good Morning O' Nobly Born" every day.
TAKE THIS CLASS! If you put in the work and do the assignment, you will get an A. Her outlines are very specific and you can't go wrong if you follow them.
The BEST World Religions professor! Easy A class just memorize the study guide!
Professor Stewart is THE BEST. She truly cares about her students and is super understanding. Tests are directly based off notes, but she also provides a study guide and goes over the answers the class before the test so class is not always mandatory. Highly recommend this class, super easy with hardly any work
This class was very interesting. Professor Stewart also touched on spirituality, and she is deeply concerned about the universe. I found her class eye-opening and I was so excited to feel exposed to other aspects of not only religion but life. She is the sweetest person, and she purposely makes her class manageable-- she wants you to enjoy it.
Lori has a unique class format. She often wants to make it a discussion, but ends up frustrated at the student/class for not reading her mind. Very Very VERY opinionated and works her life problems and politics into everything. Attendance and PARTICIPATION is mandatory for passing (She randomly calls on students about reading).
Very mindful about things she teaches and engaging with students. lecture is very interesting and makes you think about your own beliefs.. very kind professor, seems that she's been through a lot and met a lot of people. remembers your name and feels personal with interactions. participation matters, but the class itself is engaging and mindopening
Professor Stewart is one of the best professors I have had. She is kind, caring and really shows that she wants her students to pass her class. Her class is interesting and at times she brings her perspective on various topics. The tests are exactly like the study guides, so if you study those, you should get 100% on each test. Easy A.
Professor Stewart is an amazing woman! As long as you show up and care about her class, you will probably do fine. I will genuinely miss her classes, as she cares about her students and knows most of them by name! If you go to office hours to discuss an exam, she will go over it with you and do her best to help you succeed. Would take again!
This was a very easy class as she gave all the answers to the tests during the class before in a review session. There was one paper that you had to write as well, but that wasn't too hard either. She seemed to have a lot of experience with different religions which was good.
Professor Lori really cares about her students' success. Her tests are all written not multiple choice but they are relatively easy considering you memorize the terms she provides in the syllabus and attend each of her lectures if did not buy the book.
Prof Stewart is AMAZING! I love how KIND she is to every student. Each lecture was just so inspiring. She gave life advice I didn't know I needed. The tests are all free response and matching, they are specific but if you attend her reviews/lectures you will be bueno. There is 1 paper at the beginning that is super easy and eye-opening. Easy A!!
She is honestly the best professor. All her test are clear, she gives the answers the day before the test if not the study guide is the test. She is very accessible, very caring, and loving of everyone. Best class at SDSU. Do not skip her class it is worth sitting through lecture she's just amazing.
She is an extremely interesting professor, and she really cares about her students. Her lectures were extremely interesting and although attendance is not mandatory, her class rooms were still typically full. She sets you up for success to do well in her class and creates study guides that mimic what the test is like.
Professor Stewart is amazing. Very kind and caring towards her students. All there was to the class was a journal assignment and exams, which are easy if you pay attention in class and take good notes, she'll even directly tell you what is on the exams, gives study guides exactly like the exams. You'll pass if you do your part.
Professor Stewart is by far my favorite professor at SDSU. Most of the grade is just based on her attendance and her lecture are actually really interesting so it makes going to class easy. She is very adamant about making this a stress free class and gives you all the information you need for exams.
Firstly, the Tests are NOT multiple choice, I wish I would've known that going in. The class is easy, I only got a B because most of her tests were the same week as my other tests (Calc, Bio) back to back to back where I couldn't study for hers. She gives you the answers to her midterm and final so make sure to go to class that day. Good professor!
The tests are all super easy, she gives you a study guide which is exactly the same as the test questions. There is one writing journal during the semester. She doesn't take attendance and it was a very easy and interesting course. Stewart is super passionate about religions and cares about all of her students. One of the best professors at state.
Such a sweet and kind lady who cares. The class itself is very easy, as long as you study a little bit. Tests are based off study guides. Tests are NOT multiple choice. No homework except one journal entry that she expects to be 3-4 pgs long (prompt is not hard). Also she gives answers to midterm and final the class before.
TAKE THIS CLASS. Attendance is not mandatory. There are 4 tests (all easy to cheat on) and one journal that is 6 pages and she grades it easy. This is by far the easiest class I have taken at SDSU.
BEST PROF AT SDSU! Take this class I loved everything about. Professor Stewart is so invested in her students and everything she does. She tries to learn everyones name and really makes sure everyone understands her lectures. Wish I could take this class again.
Lori is literally the BEST teacher. She is so kind and cracks jokes during her lectures. The class is graded on 5 super easy tests and 1 journal exercise. Everyone should get an A in this class. TAKE HER FOR REAL.
Lori is such an amazing teacher and person, one of my favorite teachers for sure! Super easy class, just some tests, a midterm, and final, which she gives the answers to before. Take her for sure!
Stewart is such a nice teacher that cares about her students so much. Being able to start my days in her class made me feel in such a good mode because she spreads positive vibes. The class is pretty easy that consists of 4 tests and 1 journal. Before every test she gives ALL the answers, just write them down and study them, pretty easy.
Stewart is incredibly compassionate toward her students. She makes sure that this class is easy. Study guides are literally the test. She has midterm and final review sessions where she gives us the answers for those tests. Attendance isn't mandatory, but I went to her lectures because it was a good experience.
Stewart is amazing! Attendance isn't mandatory, but most people show up anyways because she makes the class so interesting. You can tell she really cares about her students and just hopes you take something away from the class. Grade is based on tests, midterm, final, 1 online assignment, and a journal (somewhat time-consuming, but inspirational).
This class was much harder than I expected! All exams are PURE MEMORIZATION w/c made it really hard. She makes you HAND-WRITE all your notes. 3 tests, midterm, & final plus a JOURNAL that requires >2,000 WORDS to even be considered to have an A in the paper. Even though she's very nice, her way of teaching just wasn't for me. DO NOT buy the books!
If you have a chance to have professor Lori as your teacher, do yourself a favor and take it. She is the most caring, passionate, intellectual, and kind human begin I have ever had the good fortune of knowing. Please take her class, you won't regret it. Her lectures are beautiful, she will educate you in the mind but also in the heart
My favorite teacher I have taken at San Diego State. You won't find a more caring and inspirational teacher. If you have an open mind and want to learn about what really matters take this class. All you have to do is go to class and listen (which is enjoyable) and write a brief summary at the end of class (participation points) to receive an A
Prof Stewart gives amazing lectures and truly knows from individual experiences what she's talking about. Shows a great appreciation for religion and stays objective of them, doesn't emphasize one more than any other. Midterm and final she gives you the answers the class before. Study guides are usually very helpful. Fairly easy class and very fun.
This professor really cares for her students but this class is too much for 100-level. It is 3 times a week and she doesn't post ANY power points. The lectures are recorded but not all of them are posted to Blackboard. For the tests, you have to phrase it exactly like her or you'll miss points. Definitely regret taking this class.
Lori Stewart is just one of those people you remember for the rest of your life. She's the best teacher I've ever had so far. I've never left a review for a professor but she definitely deserves it! She's the most caring, funny, and inspirational woman I've had the pleasure of meeting. Take this class with an open mind and willingness to learn.
Professor Lori is super confident about the subject she teaches and you will learn a lot after taking her. Going to her lecture and prepares the study guide is all you have to do to get an A. She tests you exactly the same from the study guide, just memorized everything word by word!!!! And she provides some extra credit.
I love Lori Stewart! Her class was by far my favorite this semester. Her teaching style is like watching a Ted Talk and she really cares about her students. She is a very passionate teacher and has a lot of knowledge and experience to share. You do have to study for her tests and watch all of the lectures but it is worth it. 10/10 would take again
Amazing person. Fantastic lecturer. She helps everyone to become more open-minded, kind humans. Plus the class is amazingly easy as long as you use the study guides and respond to the discussions.
Each class was recorded to BlackBoard. There was a study guide for each test and the class was very enjoyable. She does go over the readings so you really don't need to touch the books but they are really cheap anyway. She is super nice and is always available if you have questions. There are four exams and discussion boards (like 4).
This class and this professor was amazing. The lectures were extremely interesting. I bought the books, never used them but I took very thorough notes. The test are really easy, all answers are from the lectures but to make it better, prof. stewart reviews the test the day before and reveals all answers, even for the midterm and final. 10/10!!
Wonderful professor might be the best professor I have ever had. She genuinely cares about her students & their leaning. Content is very different so you need to have an open mind to new ideas & spirituality. She assigns a lot of reading questions that are discussed in class but they're pretty easy. Class participation is a large part of her class.
Professor Stewart cares SO much about her students and is genuinely just a cool person. Her class is easy if you go to class. She doesn't post lectures online so you have to show up or get someone to send their notes. The test questions come directly from the lectures and their are discussion boards for each religion that are so easy to do.
She is a gem of a human being, with energetic and passionate lectures. Being an engineering major it warms my heart to find genuinely caring professors like her. Do the study guide for the exams (she also goes over the exam questions sometimes). You have to work hard to not get an A.
Super easy class and amazing professor. She is like my mom away from home. Going to class is like free therapy. It's easy, and engaging. Everything you need is on power points but I recommend going to class anyway because the energy in there is amazing.
Professor Stewart is a truly amazing professor. Her lectures are always very interesting and engaging and she shows a genuine interest and care for her students. All of the homework and discussion are easy as long as they are completed fulfilling the criteria.
She was one of the only professors who made class interesting. I loved her stories and her overall energy. The only thing I want to mention is that the TA's she had this semester were unnecessarily harsh when grading the discussion boards so make sure you go above the word count and be thorough
Lori is awesome. She's such a breathe of fresh air and an amazing professor/person. Her lectures are so eye opening and informative. She truly cares about teaching her passion and wants her students to learn to benefit their individual lives. I've learned so much from her throughout the years and could listen to her lecture for hours!
I loved this class and this professor made it 10x better. She is extremely inspirational and you can tell she loves what she is doing. She takes the time to know her students and really cares about them. Attendance is not mandatory but I recommend going, the lectures are amazing. Quizzes and Discussions are all fairly easy. Loved this course!!
