Very knowledgable about class material and easy to listen to. I took a Saturday morning class with her and actually went to every class, so that has to say something.

I would highly recommend anyone to take this class with her, or any class... She keeps yah interested and never leaves surprises on exams... also shes pretty damn good looking!!

Being that this is an introductory class, I find that she has the expectations of a 300 or higher level class. As most in this class are mature student.

I took these classes from her in Weyburn, and I thought that she was wonderful. I looked forward to each and every class, and will never forget the insite and knowledge she put forth. Awesome, I'll never forget her.

Super awesome professor. Seems to love what she does, which is great. She is very knowlegble and good at lecturing. Tends to repeat herself at times, but just makes remembering the important stuff easier.

Seemed kind of stupid. She lectured straight out of the text and didn't mention any racism in the Saskatchewan justice system - a serious omission. What do you expect when you work for the Regina Police Service, though.

She is amazing. I do not care what the rest of you say. She knows what she wants. Yes, she might expect lots, but you know what guys she prepares you for whats ahead. I loved her lectures so much I'm taking Sociology 215 with her. I recommend her!!!!

Lori has a great personality and is fairly helful but she doesnt mark the tests which proves to be a challange when the marker expects answers to be word for word from the text on tests. She also chooses to teach directly from text;ditch out on class, read the text and you will do fine!

Lori is a great prof. She is very informantive, and easy to listen to. She is fair to everyone and brings parts of herself into her lectures which makes them more interesting. If you have to take afternoon classes I would recommend you to take them with this professor.

I'm pretty sure she reads these things because she has made reference to the 2 previous ratings. She is extremely intelligent and has so much experience. She grades very fair and her exams are pretty easy if you study for even an hour. Don't bother buying the textbook because she goes over it all in class. I would take another class from her.

Lori is amazing! If you go to class and pay attention you will do well. I don't understand the comments saying she is disorganized, I find her very organized and clear. She is a great prof and I would recommend her to anyone. I think this is the best class I have taken so far and she's on my list of favorite profs.

I don't expect to be spoon fed. I expect to be stimulated. I did not recieve that. Look at the numbers I gave her. They are decent numbers. She gives out high marks.

Wasn't using her own text, so hardly followed it at all. I'm female, so I admired her fashion sense, but feel that how she looks shouldn't effect your rating of her. She did tend to ramble, but it was usually an interesting tirade, so I listened. I will take another class from her in the future.

She made the night class fly by. Interesting subject matter and I enjoyed the examples she used from her own personal experiences. OVerall, great class and I'd definately take another class from her!

As usual, Lori was amazing. This is the 5th class I've taken from her. She relates everything to you so you can understand it. She's easy going and has reasonable expectations. She rarely uses the text, her exams are very fair and never surprising. She is just a great person all around.

She is a awesome prof! When it comes to tests she is a very hard marker. You have to memorize the definitions exactly from the textbook and remeber each word. Mid-terms are pointless in her class and very hard. Final is extreamly hard to. I would take another class from her but I would like her to be a better marker for tests!

Lori is a decent prof. She knows what she is talking about and is very confident in her lectures. However, she is a hard marker and expects quite a bit of memorizing for an intro class.

I'm wondering why someone would want a professor who is not passionate about what they are speaking about. Lori is powerful and she is not a hard marker at all. She tells you what you need to know for the exam and thats what you will see on the exam, no suprises. There is lots of memorizing, yes, but no more than a high school class. Study!

Favorite prof so far in Uni (been here 3 yrs). She has great life experience to teach criminology (was a crime analyst among other things) and brings this into class. She should honestly get tenure status because she is so great. the whole class participates in discussion with lori which makes the class go by fast :)

University classes in which you actually come away with useful and memorable knowledge are few and far between. Lori encourages critical thought and challenges you to re-examines a lot of what we are socialized to believe. This, in turn, allows us to experience personal growth and improvement. If you want to really learn, take Lori's class!

Yeah she did tell us to know the bold stuff but it just made it that much easier to study for the exams. There is a lot of material to know but she does a really good job of specifying what exactly to study. Lori shed some light & provided us many tools to learn: Text, Videos, Documentaries, Discussions, Research Paper, Essays. Lori is Passionate & knowledgeable. Take a class from Lori & challenge yourself, your views & gain knowledge.

The students that do not understand Lori's lectures have lived in a bubble their entire life, guaranteed. (or are too young to have any comprehension about the topics). If you have had real life experiences beyond the bubble, then you will be amazed at how it can relate to her lecture topics, guaranteed.

I don't understand why she has gotten mixed ratings.I was actually scared to take a class from her because of peoples comments.She is the best prof I have ever had!I loved her passion and honesty.To do well you just need to follow her outlines.Test is exactly the same, so just memorize the outline and go to class and you could pull off 80's easily!

Is def worth taking a class from her. I took this cuz she wasnt teaching soc215,and enjoyed it.Definately learned some new things and buffed my average. Lori is an excellent prof! This is the second class I have taken with her, and I have decided to be a sociology minor because she has me so interested in it. Attendance to class is MANDATORY, as class is strict lecture... NO POSTED NOTES. Midterms and final are not terribly difficult, just study. If you take a SOC class with her you wont regret it!

I'm majoring in Justice Studies but after being in Lori's class, I will now be majoring in Sociology. She really loves/knows what she teaches and it's contagious! She tests solely from her lectures so I wouldn't recommend skipping classes.

Overall, a great professor. She has a tendency to go off into tangents while she speaks, but don't stop paying attention - EVERYTHING on the exams is from what she speaks about. I took Sociology of Gender with Lori, she is one the most passionate professors I have ever had. She gives a good understanding of history which puts topics into perspective. She is very interesting and captivating to watch her lectures. You will not be bored. She encourages discussion. Her exams are easy if you study hard, there are no surprises.

If you do not think and write how she does, you won't get good grades. Overall, good teacher.

You need to attend all classes if you expect to get a good grade. She isn't clear with her grading on papers, but if you ask she will explain everything. Don't expect help via email for anything. 1 midterm 1 paper 1 final, word for word from lectures or you won't do good. She isn't looking for comprehension she's looking for her own wording.

Just great prof. I took the class only coz she teaches it. I wish I could receive my degree just by taking her classes. She gave 10 pages essay, 1 midterm, and long buy easy final. She is a very interesting professor and I never felt bored. I never used a textbook, and she gave exact questions which will be on her tests. Was able to pick a topic for my essay which I really was interested in. She is a feminist and puts her such view into every topic so be aware of it

Lectures are often disorganized & she rants. HUGE feminist. But if you attend class & take good notes you will do good. 1 midterm, 1 paper (10 pages, lets you pick topic) & 1 final. Lori is a great prof. I took SOC 201 online and found it extremely interesting and a great class to take as an elective online. I didn't use the textbook, but it is good to have for citation in the take home final as we'll as the paper. There is only a paper, submitted presentation (from the paper), a couple forum posts, and a take home final.

Lori really knows what she is talking about. You can tell she is extremely passionate about what she teaches. Love that fact that she's a feminist. The midterms and final are all about memorization though. Basically have to memorize all your notes. And even then she's still an extremely hard marker.

Lori was a very knowledgeable prof. Her lectures were very opinion based. There were no assignments but 3 Midterms and a Final. Gave very detailed review but expected WORD for WORD answers. If defintions were not her words from the lectures, she would not give full marks. Start studying for exams early

Lori is an inspirational prof, one that makes you want to make a change in the world. She has no textbook and no urcourses for her class, so you MUST show up. Her lectures can be quite unstructured as she goes back on forth on points and goes on story tangents. She also marks very tough, write as much as you can for every question to get full marks

She also tells you exactly what is going to be on the tests. You do have to go to the lectures as she does not have PowerPoints and does not post notes. There is no urcourses either. Go to class.

Lori's class was fully in person, she doesn't use online resources with in person lectures. Make sure you pay attention during the lectures because she likes test answers to be her definitions, word-for-word. Fantastic prof, loved listening the her

Professor Walker is inspirational. She not only encourages her students, but she also empowers her students to do well, giving positive feedback and answers questions with specific and information that is extremely helpful. I HIGHLY reccomend Lori to EVERYONE! I will be taking a lot of her classes. She is extremely inspirational with her hard work!

I don't know why Lori is getting such bad reviews. She was really good for me! Easy marker, I am sitting at a 91% before the final exam (which is open book as well). Lectures can be heavy but she posts notes. I have had no troubles with her, and it was a really easy class!

I would not take another class simply because I am not interested in what she teaches. She grades HARD but fair. The textbook was not used until the very end for the final. I would recommend getting it just to be safe.

The online course was laid out well, Lori provided youtube videos pre-recorded to watch along with links. The class was easy to work with and Lori was very responsive to questions. Overall great experience..

I always struggled with writing. I took this class and received an amazing mark on my term paper and this is all due to how she kept positively pushing me. You honestly cant get a better teacher. I recommend reading everything she sends out, she is always teaching many classes at once but available if you need her. For a pass, take her seriously.

Was a little disappointed all the lectures were pre-recorded by a year though. Can get pretty heated during lectures, but it makes it more interesting.

Best professor in university. She replies e-mails very quickly. Her syllabus and criteria is very easy and straight-forward. Lectures were recorded and she explains things very calmly with examples. For sure take more classes with her.

no midterms or written final, just essays and an essay final. class was easy and lots of time to do everything.

I loved this class! All of my peers had such interesting thoughts and ideas on the material and the material was easy to understand and comprehend. Her grading can sometimes be on the harder end, but if you show you're passionate about the subject and do the work you'll do just fine in this class.

u can get by in this class without studying TOO much. I think people who are naturally good at writing essays will do better in her class than those who struggle with writing. keep up with the reading schedule, and take notes, you should be able to get 80 min 75.integrate the vocabulary from your coursework into your assignments-should boost mark

Her lectures are interesting. She like to give advice and I liked that. She is nice. her assignments are a bit hard but if you ask her more about it she's willing and happy to help.

Lori's knowledge base is solid, and brought forward with interesting and engaging lectures. All assignments are clearly outlined. She is always available for clarification on topics. She provides constructive feedback post assignments, so you can learn to improve your work. Best professor I have ever had! Take her class, you won't regret it!

Lori has been one of the best professors I've ever had. When reading her other reviews I was nervous to take her class, but she has been nothing but wonderful to me. Her class has been very helpful and she grades very easy. When mistakes are made she gives great feedback. Her class is great to help your ugpa!

Great class discussions, if instructions are followed, it is easy to gain marks.

She deeply explained things so we could have a better understanding, laidback, made sure people were satisfied with an answer when they asked a question, listens to what people have to say, speaks her mind, show up and do the work and you will do good

Lori is a great, knowledgeable professor. I am more than satisfied with her grading; her criteria is very clear and so is her feedback. Textbook is a great resource, however she will NOT require you to purchase it if you cannot afford to. She is a passionate feminist that recognizes intersectionality. You WILL gain new and meaningful knowledge.
