Sister Rawlings is a fantastic teacher! Her class is structured and runs smoothly. There are no tests but there are lots of projects and reading. Every class and assignment had purpose and was very useful in helping me to discover my teaching philosophy. She gives everyone a coupon to use for 1 late assignment. I highly recommend taking her class.
Sis Rawlings knows her stuff. But she is extremely unclear as to what is expected for hw and projects. She always says look at the syllabus! But that's unclear too. She goes off on tangents that don't relate to the subject and when you're learning new material like in Lit2 that's frustrating. Nice lady, but should still be teaching 4th grade.
She should not be teaching college. She's super unclear. Her big file folder assignment she makes you do is pointless! You do lots of work for something you'll never use because it doesnt fit the grade level you'll teach. Ridiculous perfectionist where it doesnt matter!Be prepared to spend lots of money, and time, on projects that do you no good!!
She really cares about her students and is there for further clarification on assignments. She can be a perfectionist on some things (file folders) but follow the instructions and you'll do great! She has a TON of experience with literacy and I highly recommend her. You will learn a lot if you listen in class!
Sister Tobler is the best teacher I have had in my college career. She is the perfect person to teach about teaching. She is caring and understanding. She expects a lot of her students,but I have learned more in her class than I have in any other class I have taken. I felt absolutely prepared for the State Test!
Really nice lady, but I was super bored in the class. Got a good grade in the class, but I didn't feellike I learned anything new. Talked about herself a lot,, and very repetitive. She knows her stuff. She is easily distracted, which can get you out of quizzes :).
I loved Sis. Tobler! She really knows the material. I appreciated that she had real world knowledge and was always willing to share. She cares about every one of her students. She is easy to relate to. I don't think I could have felt more prepared for the state test. She can sometimes get off on tangents, but it makes the class interesting.
She is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She expects so much but doesn't explain anything. It is so frustrating. She gets off on tangents most of the class. It isn't hard to get an A but it is such an unsatisfying class.
The class was hard but it prepared me for the tests. I gained a lot of knowledge that will be helpful in my future classroom.
Her class is confusing, she's very unclear what she wants you to do. very disorganized. I felt like there was no order to her curriculum. She makes you get a bunch of books that you'll only use a couple times. She spends most of the class time talking about herself. I didn't feel like I earned my grade because I never knew what was going on.
She is a great teacher. Any of her lit classes are a TON of work but I have never learned so much in college until her. She is very clear on what she wants from you as long as you actually listen and pay attention in class. If you are lazy and do not try you won't like it. She is probably one of the best teachers in the education department.
she was a great teacher, i had her for several classes. very knowledgable. a little all over the place sometimes, but she has a clear layout of all assignments and due dates that she rarely strays from.
Sister Tobler is pretty cool. She really loves what she is teaching, but the class itself was not very helpful. We did most of our learning in our groups. She thinks she is funny, but sadly, she's not. She's a little frustrating. Doesnt explain things very well. Really easy grader and gives you a chance to fix your hw and turn it back in.
Sister Tobler is awesome. She has lots of experience teaching so she knows what she is talking about. This class helps you decide if you really want to become a teacher and she helps you w/ that. She is very charismatic and easy-going. All of the assignments are designed to help you plan for the future and become better people!
If you're lazy you will hate her class. It is a lot of work but I actually learned the most from this class of any that I have taken. She really knows her stuff and will prepare you for the lit exams. She is confusing at first because she is very particular in what she wants. Stick it out the first few weeks and you will be grateful for her.
She is a super hard grader and expects you to know what she wants on the first try. Also she does this thing called a "Professionalism Grade" and basically unless you're a suck up you fail. Don't take this class unless you have to.
Sis Tobler is awesome. I've never had a class where I have learned so much. If you are lazy, don't take it from her. You cannot just slide by with an A. You have to work for it but she is there every step of the way and truly wants you to succeed. She knows her stuff!
Her requirements are very vague. She has rubrics, but she has expectations that are not said, and then she docs your grade when you don't meet them. Make sure you print off all of your assignments and turn them in on time... even if your printer does not work she will still doc you 50% if its not in by the beginning of class.
my least favorite teacher I had that semester, very annoying in the way that she was almost too interested in what I was doing, asked many questions about my life I didn't know the answers to yet, teaches things but doesn't know answers to questions, boring, boring, boring, and you are doing group stuff so often that it becomes annoying

Sister Tobler is such a sweet women, but this class was frustrating. She was very picky when grading lesson plans, and made you re-do them until they met her expectations. The final was on a powerpoint she gave us the week of the final and it wasn't on material we had even learned. Directions weren't explained clearly, and was very disorganized.
Sister Tobler is so sweet and it's hard not to get an "A" as long as you honestly try. She gives a lot of homework, but it isn't busywork and all benefits the class. There is a lot of reading that sometimes you will be tested on in a pop quiz the next day, but that is rare. I did enjoy the class though, and was happy with my grade at the end.
She is amazing! I read the reviews on here and though this class would be difficult. It was not! So easy! She is such a sweetheart, and is clear on what she wants. Easiest grader ever! You have a reading assignment every class that you discuss in class. You'll do a little response assignment for hw. that's all. take her!
This is the worst teacher I have ever had in my teaching education degree. You as a student better be willing to bend over backwards for her and ready to see your hard work scibbled over. She is not willing to admit to her mistakes and if your work is not to her perfection be prepared to fail and feel in-adequate to be a teacher and a failer.

I absolutely LOVE Sister Tobler! She is the best teacher to have to introduce you to the Education field. Her class is very project oriented, but each project makes sense and they are easy and fun to complete. I have learned so much this semester and I cannot wait to pursue my education further.
She is a great person but her class is on the boring end of the spectrum. You can easily get an A if you work for it. There are no tests which is nice. She can be unclear with directions and YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT YOUR SYLLABUS- if you don't you will miss assignments.

This class is super super super boring. The syllabus is how you know what is due and she doesn't move due dates even if she is sick for 3 days and isn't in class. This class needs to be offered online because in class is pointless.
She is super fun! Her ED202 class is fascinating! She is very organized and studious. If you follow the syllabus and do the work you will do well in her class. She is great to work with you, and always makes class a fun expirience!
I had Sister Tobler for Social Studies Methods, but I feel like we only did social studies for 2 weeks out of the 14. She would go off on random tangents for the hour and then assign something that was completely unrelated. The first few assignments are basically if you complete them then you get 100%. After that, she would rip lesson plans apart.

Honestly, I just felt like the class was a little bit all over the place and I just never felt like I was allowed to clarify and ask questions because if I did it felt like I was a problem.
Sister Tobler is really nice, but her class was the absolute worst. She would spend the entire class time talking about, well nothing and then would give us this crazy assignment with no explanation and told us to look at the syllabus. I spent 4 hours on a lesson plan once that she refused to look over before I turned it in and then gave me a 4%
Class is pointless. A lot of homework and readings for a 2 credit class. She is very biased on her political stance to the point were she made the class take a white privileged test and said if you're white then you're oppressing people. Her assignments are not clear and she does not give examples. She is a tough grader. Classes are boring.

Literally the girls around me were whispering that they were going to change their entire major because they hated her so much. I WISH I CHOSE A DIFFERENT TEACHER!!!!
She tends to give assignments before she teaches you how to do them, then she'll grade incredibly picky. Very irritating person.
I had a hard time with Sister Tobler at the beginning but she really cares about what she is teaching and I ended up loving her! She is so caring and has some great insight about the teaching profession! I never felt like class was wasted or homework was pointless! I absolutely loved the class and all the information!
She's very energetic and likes to tell stories, but can get way off topic sometimes. She's always excited and happy to be in the classroom. Be prepared and do all the reading you never know when there will be a pop quiz assignment to see if you read.
I loved taking this class from Sister Tobler. She really knows what she's teaching and it's clear that she cares a lot about the subject matter and the students. There are no tests, and only a few group projects. Super easy. There are articles to read and write about every week that are easy to breeze through. Really good class.
Sis. Tobler was nice sometimes, but was also condescending. She treated you like you're stupid if you ever ask questions. She really sticks to the syllabus and won't accept late work no matter how good your reason is! She has very liberal views which bothered me, and I didn't like her personality either. One positive thing is that she's organized.
5 brochures, awful midterm, 1 test, 2 final tests, lots of quizzes, final project, 3 mini lessons. SHE IS A PICKY GRADER!!!! Also, there is a oral vocabulary test that you have to memorize 80 terms and she will pick out of a hat and you have 5 seconds to respond or you lose the point. She doesn't have clear instructions, and goes on tangents.
Sister Tobler is a great person, but not a great teacher. Shes very loud and yells frequently. She grades tougher than any professor that Ive ever had. She grades so tough that I didnt get above a C on more than half the assignments given! I highly recommend taking this class from another professor.
She's a nice person, but not a great teacher. She talks about random stuff for most of the class & takes forever to get to the subject we're supposed to talk about. She doesn't explain things well, she's VERY picky on grading & is not very understanding when you turn an assignment in late. Crams history facts the last week & bases thefinal on it.
This class can be really difficult. Sister Tobler makes her Lit 1 students do some extra work compared to the other Lit 1 profs, but when it came to taking the state Lit exam, that extra work really paid off. There is a purpose to everything she has her students do. It's hard, but it's effective when it comes to learning.
Sis Tobler is one of the best professors I've ever had. She really knows her stuff. Makes you work but it really pays off for the state exam. She over-prepares you and it is so nice! Group work is heavy but you are still graded individually. Really picky with some things, but she warns you in detail and she wants to help you succeed.
Don't take Tobler if you don't have to, easiely the worst teacher I've ever had. She is an impossible grader and doesn't explain how to do the assignments. She says they are all on the syllabus but she is very strict on how to grades the layout, tables, definitions etc. but doesn't tell you how to do it or give examples . Seriously DON'T take her.
If I could give her a 0, I would. She is an AWFUL, nitpicky grader. She hardly explains her assignments. Then any time there is a question about an assignment, she says, "All the information needed is in the syllabus." But the information isn't there or is very vague. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR SANITY WITH HER. Take it from a different professor.
Its hard for me to respect an instructor when they have reviews like this and do nothing to change the format of their class. Extremely tough grader. I would say unreasonably so considering a lot of the assignments we do, most of us are just learning about for the first time. The one positive I have is that she is good to talk to outside of class.
She is a tough grader!!! She is sooooooo strict with what she wants!!! She has taken lesson plans from past courses and tore them apart before our very eyes. Your work can be very detailed yet you can't be sure if it will be good enough. Throw creative freedom out the window because you won't be needing that in her class.
Easily THE WORST teacher I have ever had in my whole college experience. PERIOD. You can receive a 0 from a grading rubric even if she finds a few grammatical errors. Toughest grader I have ever had in my whole life. I CAN NOT stress that enough. SHE IS A TOUGH AND TERRIBLE GRADER! If you want to feel constantly discouraged then take this class...
Honestly do not respect this professor. She does not care about a student's success in her class. She is a very tough grader. She does not work with you if her test does not work with your schedule, only opening the test for 3 hours. She is all over the place and will get off topic for 20 minutes. Don't recommend, especially for higher level class
Sister Tobler was a great teacher. Some of her work was difficult or took time, but she had a passion for teaching and you could tell.
One would assume a former elem. teacher is compassionate, understanding, and clear. However, Sister Tobler would call students out to make them feel bad, use incorrect student names repeatedly, and didn't offer constructive feedback, aside from telling you to fix what you did wrong. Assignments were due before being explained. Avoid her class.
I have to take her again. She is super nice, however is not very flexible. She does allow for makeup work, as long as she can see the changes that were done. This is a higher level class, so it is a lot of work and time.
She made the class interesting and was sure to involve all of us which I loved! But when it came to homework, almost zero explanation was given. Most of the homework was through Perusal which graded very harshly. She gave random projects listed in the syllabus, one of which included creating a webpage (never explained/taught). Would not recommend.
Absolutely one of the worst teachers I've had. Doesn't explain anything, and nothing is applicable in an actual classroom. Very, very, VERY condescending and disrespectful. I wouldn't take her again if someone paid me.
Horrible teacher... she is the most liberal person on campus. All of her readings are about inequality and women's rights and how white people over-privileged. Don't get me wrong... those are important topics... but not at BYU Idaho and she just wastes time with these things and doesn't prepare anyone to become a future teacher. The class sucks
Sis. Tobler lives up to her reputation of being a tough grader. That being said, she is willing to meet with you to give you feedback before and after submitting. I feel more prepared for the praxis, but agree with the other comments about how it's hard to make connections to your future classroom in this class.
To her credit she was willing to work with students who reached out first and seemed to care about us and the class but the good parts end there. All work was out of class and all busywork and motivating myself to do perusal reading with strict grading three times a week was a chore. Ended class with an infuriating 89.98% which she would not bump.
Sister Tobler is an amazing person, but a HORRIBLE teacher!! She expects you to always follow a syllabus she hands out the first day of class and know the material yourself. I even once asked her for advice once due to not understanding an assignment and her response was: "There is specific feedback embedded within the rubric." Wow... Thanks...
Be prepared to spend a lot of money. There are 3 textbooks that are pretty expensive. You need to buy them because they are the same books used in Lit 2 and the practicum. There are projects where you lose points if you do not laminate your papers. And you are required to print a huge packet and all the powerpoints. It's a hard class financially.
Sister Tobler is a kind person, but I did not like this course or her as a teacher. PERUSALL: We did a perusall for each class period, and I would spend so much time working on the perusals trying to get above a 6.667. They suck. She also gives assignments with hardly any context. I really do not feel like I learned anything from this course.
I lover Lorrie, she is the most sweetest most down to earth person I know. She showed me what a real professor is. She loves teaching and only wants the best for her students. Yes you work hard but it pays off. You will pass your state exam if you take her. She is an THE BEST.
I had Sister Tobler for Lit 1 and 2. She was great in Lit 1, but I had an even better experience with her in Lit 2. YOU WILL PASS YOUR STATE EXAMS with Sister Tobler. I heard from others that they were less prepared and uncertain going into the test. I have felt fully confident every time I take a Lit exam and that is because of her.
Sis Tobler literally used to write the state literacy tests, so she knows what she's talking about for the Lit classes. She makes the class harder than the test on purpose so that the state tests are easier. The class is a lot of work, but it's worth it.
Forceful, passive-aggressive. Talked down to me relentlessly throughout the semester. I was struggling with personal stuff, but she badgered me until I got a disability form even though I didn't need one. When I politely shared my opinion against viewing children based on race during a C.R.T. lesson, she talked me down and "corrected" my opinion.
She was so bad I wanted to give her a 0, but that's not possible so I give her a 1.
I had sister Tobler last semester and didnt appreciate her as much as I should have. She makes you work for your grade but in the long run it helps you so much. She is the only reason I passed the state test. The information she taught really stuck with me. Being in lit 2 now I realized how good of a teacher she is!! I wish I had her again!!
Everyone is scared of Sister Tobler because shes a strict teacher. This lady knows her stuff and you will know it too after her class. Im in my practicum and I know exactly how to teach those little kids and I can keep up thanks to her.I cant stress enough what a great teacher she is. You WILL pass the state test with an A. Promise. Take her.
The workload wouldn't have been that bad if she would have given use the information needed to complete the assignments. Oftentimes she wouldn't example or give us the required materials to complete big project until the day before they were due. She is a nice person and can be lots of fun to listen to, but not a great teacher.

Wasn't a huge fan of her. She used perusall the whole time and if you tried your very hardest you never got above a 6.667. Really shows that she's a lazy teacher. She doesn't clarify and then docks you points when she wasn't specific and everything she has is on a paper syllabus that she wants you to keep through the whole semester.
She is known to be a tough teacher but she really prepares her students for the state exam. One thing to note she is preparing you to be a teacher and not to help you pass a test. She helps you really know the information. She cares about her students and will work with you to help you get better grades and to study.
Sister Davis is an amazing teacher! I fell in love with her teaching style this last semester. She is really good at teaching through repetition, which is great when preparing to take the state lit exams. If you want to be prepared to take the lit exams, I would definitely recommend taking Lit 1 and 2 from her.
Sister Davis can be a nice professor, but during our class she gave vague directions and wouldn't provide information on big assignments until the class before. She has talked down to myself and many students in a passive aggressive manner many times. Some like it, I dreaded attending her classes, and really gave my all to the class. Best of luck.
Sis Davis either doesn't read her reviews or she does and doesn't care to change. She's had the same bad reviews since 2010 and continues to do the same things that everyone hates. She is condescending and passive-aggressive. She was not ever once clear about instructions for assignments and doesn't care if you are still confused. DO NOT TAKE.
Sister Davis goes all over the place when she is teaching.The syllabus tells you a lot of things you're supposed to know, but a lot of things are still unclear. Her grading criteria is very specific and and vague so we would be docked points. A lot of times me and people at my table had no idea what we were doing and what was expected of us.
Would never take her again. She is scatterbrained, condescending, and vague. It's like she expects you to read her mind. When I said her expectations were unclear, she called me unprofessional and made me meet with the department head to "fix my behavior." She is not open to feedback and very unreasonable. Avoid her class if you want good grades.
The class itself is easy but the assignments are graded harshly. If you miss more than 3 days of class your grade drops tremendously. She is very enthusiastic but tends to get off topic a bit, however, she takes time to get to know each of her students. Lots of participation in class but no tests. There is a perusal assignment everyday before class
If you want to pay for and sit through mandatory classes and not learn a lick in lectures, then pick her! She is constantly vague, self-centered, and scatterbrained. It is the 2nd week of school, and I'm already miserable in her class. I just sat through an hour of lecture; the ENTIRE time she talked about herself and nothing about the content.
I tended to find a lot of her classes boring, and it was hard for me to stay focused in. I found myself going to class just for attendance and working on other homework there, because her lectures did not really teach me anything.

Davis is very knowledgeable about the content she presents and shares it with passion. She always opened with asking each individual for questions to help us with the content.
