Well, you will either love her or drop. Great professor, but you will go through the course material at mach five. We call her "mom" - highly recommended if you don't mind being under pressure a little bit.

By no means is this an easy class, but you'll learn a lot in the relatively short amount of time that the class lasts. Definitely the best history teacher I've had. She cares about her students. Very passionate and makes the material interesting.

Great prof. if you don't mind a lot of material. her tests are pretty straight foreward and from lectures. she really cares about her students and is always willing to help. class discussions are pretty interesting, and you dfo learn a lot even if you are pretty good at history.

Enjoyed the class. Professor always knew when to foster discussion and when to wrap it up when it came to be at the curriculum's expense. In politically themed discussions, was not dismissive of views opposite her own.

She is a very good teacher. Very sweet and respectful, and knows how to teach and entertain. If you're not afraid of about 3-5 pages of notes for each class meet, you'll do fine. If you're up for a challenge, you can get an A, but you have to work for it. This is not an easy class.

If you take any of her classes, please take good notes, or you will kick yourself come test time. You don't even have to buy the book, just take super good notes each class meet. At least 3 pages for each class. She is a wonderful person and fun to be with. She is the sweetest teacher at GC.

Good teacher and good class. Be prepared to take 4-5 pages of notes each class. If you take good notes you will do fine. Her test are not as hard as she says. She is fair and she seems very concerned about her students. I would take another history class from her.

Before this class I hated History, now I don't. She is a wonderful teacher, and an asset to GC. But beware you will take LOTS of notes, you have to or you won't pass this class. She truly cares about her students and how well they do. She listens to you and and is open to everyones view whether it differs from hers or not.

I'm so glad I chose Mrs Buchbinder for my history class. She taught me a lot about the subject that I didn't know and, although the classes were all lecture based, she introduced plenty of fun and exciting topics to the material. If you want an A, be prepared to take lots of notes. Tests are also primarily essay based with some multiple-choice.

You will take a lot of notes. You write non-stop. STUDY every night for her test. They are very hard.

She is extremely well versed in her topics and very excited in her delivery of the information. The one area that she needs to improve is in bringing her political viewpoint to class with her. She should leave her politics at the door. I don't think she realizes how badly she can offend people with this. Liberalism is not universal.

Prof. Buchbinder is tough, but fair. If you put in the work, then you'll do well. I actually learned a lot about writing in this class. We had to do a book critique and had essay tests. I enjoyed Prof. Buchbinder's passionate approach to her subject.

If you expect to never show up, never read the book, and never pay attention when you DO come to class and still get an A...then yeah, you'll be disappointed. If you want to really learn and gain something then take her class! She loves what she does and her enthusiasm is contagious. Take it if you want an actual college class.

Dr.Buchbinder is an extremely helpful teacher who obviously loves history. I imagine that those of you that gave her a bad review either didn't show up to class, didn't take notes, didn't read the text book, didn't read the syllabus, etc. She says whatshe means and does what she says. What do you expect from a profesor? for them to hold your hand?

This Class isnt that hard. All her tests are essays, and she gives you the essays youll have to write about prior to the test. Take good notes and writing the essays will be easy. If you miss a test or quiz you must have documentation. Overall She is a helpful and teacher that really wants you to succeed.

Ms Buchbinder is awesome! She does everything she can to help you get a good grade short of taking the test for you. She's funny and makes history interesting. If you don't come to class you won't get a good grade. She does get aggravated if you walk in late so be sure to be on time! Other than that, she's a wonderful teacher!!

I loved her. I already Love History and she just made it better she is really funny and she makes the class fun my class was awesome we always had a good time. You will breeze through in that class I didnt even have a book i just listened and took notes and i passed the class so it is fairly easy

Good professor, but does not stop speaking. I understand it's a lecture course, but she uses every second of class to talk. Tests aren't too bad. She doesn't have powerpoints/online notes, so you have to pay attention in class, take good notes, and not miss too many days.

Mrs. Buchbinder LOVES history and knows what she is talking about! Everyday she will lecture from the minute you walk in until the minute class is over. You take notes every minute you are in class so I would advise you to bring a computer if you can type faster than you can write. You must study your notes to pass the test! Overall, I liked her!

Absolutely the best history teacher I've ever had. She takes this seriously, and genuinely cares about what she does. Don't expect an easy A or leniency as far as attendance and make up work goes. She's a tough one, and she wont' take crap from anyone. But definitely expect to be given some world class lectures from a world class professor.

Very sweet woman. Lectures are interesting most days but can be long and dry so unless your a morning person or drink a LOT of coffee, I do not recommend her for a morning class. Does not spend time on the Civil War. Make sure you read because she will ask the class questions and gets irritated if no one answers. Tests are easy if you study well.

Very sweet, passionate woman. More focused on overall concepts than individual events. Very reasonable workload. Be sure to come to class or you won't know the material covered. Long, sometimes boring lectures, but she always makes sure you really know the material. Class participation can affect your grade, so comment as much as possible.

She is very passionate about history. Be prepared to read the book. On the essay, on the test, be super specific(When, where, who). Participation in class is key. I would suggest recording her lectures. Recording is very helpful when prewriting essays. She gives you the essay prompts for the test the class before the test.

Very sweet woman and knows the material well. You do read a lot but honestly I read very minimally and made A's on the first 2 tests. She will curve the tests if a question is messed up or unfair. She is very lenient on grading. Her lectures can be long and boring and you have to come to class to pass. But other than that I do reccommend her.

The lectures can be long, but i have never before learned history like i have from her. She is a great teacher and as long as you get to class on time and do the reading you'll be fine. Be prepared to read the textbook it's a MUST HAVE for this class. Only 4 grades which is 4 test. The test are difficult, usually 50 MC and 1 essay question. Doesn't tolerate tardies. Doesn't take attendance but it's necessary to go to class and take notes in order to make a decent grade. She lectures all class and only HW is to read the textbook.

Her class requires work. She allows you to record her lectures which I recommend doing since she gives oral study guides for her tests. I like that she lectures passionately about American History because it makes the class more interesting and helps me to pay attention. She gives great notes for the tests. Sit as close as you can to the front to avoid being distracted, the lowest grades tended to be towards the back where people could easily zone out.

Basically, everyday you walk in and she lectures until about 5 minutes after you are suppose to have already left. She explains everything in depth and her test are no harder than a high school AP class test. I would recommend her if you like lecture classes. Awesome Teacher. Took her for US History 1 and was amazing. Passed with a solid A in her class. She recommends that you read, but I didn't open the book but like once or twice. You gotta go to the lectures. I never missed a class that's why I did well. She's really caring and considerate of your situation if you're a good student.

Be prepared to take notes, lecture heavy, and it would help to read because she will get mad if you do not participate. The oral study guides are amazing, so write those down. Few grades (3 tests and non cumulative final).Show up on time, don't do the 8am class if you cant wake up. She really loves history, and I learned a lot despite the challenge

Professor Buchbinder is a really sweet lady but you are purely graded on four exams, each worth a quarter of your grade. Never miss class if you can't help it. Do NOT attempt taking this class at 8AM, everyday people were falling asleep with their heads up. She is also pretty funny and her lectures stick in your head.

Such a sweet lady. I took an online class with her and she really handled it well. She responds quickly to emails and makes lectures interesting. Tests are completely open note and open book. However, tests are the only grades we have in the class. You won't regret taking her!

I took Professor Buchbinders class online. It was her first time teaching online and she was great. She prepares for each test beforehand on zoom and is very sweet and humble. Very nice professor and doesn't make things too difficult, at least online. The exams are not proctored and are open-notes.

I took this class online. The professor is very nice and strives to make sure her students understand the material. The class is not hard. There is a lot of reading from the textbook and listening to pre-recorded lectures. You are graded by 5 exams. She offered zooms to review material(not mandatory but that might change for the next semester).

She is a great person and professor. Very assessable and there for any questions you may have. We had 5 test and 1 essay. All assignments were super easy and gave us weeks in advance to finish the essay. She held Zooms to answer any questions you had about the Units. She liked you if you participated. I would recommend taking her class. Easy A!

I took Mrs. Buchbinder online and she was really nice. Ive heard shes much better in person, and I believe it because her lectures are good. If you have her in person she probably will prepare you more for the tests. She did zooms right before tests and gave you everything you needed to know, but no one showed up so she stopped. Cares alot.
