The Absolute best teacher that I have ever had, she's hard but she wants you to know your stuff. Anyone who has to take AHS 131. 132, or 202 I highly recomend that you take it with Dr. Findlay, she has a quirkie sense of humor but it makes the class fun
Her notes were not clear because she wouldn't stay with 1 topic. Her tests were 100+ questions. We didn't use our textbook or lab manual all semester. All you had to study from her notes. And that was the most difficult part.
excellent teacher, explains things clearly does not give out study guides she wants you to remember everything she teaches you, tough but fair.
Excellent teacher, very clear and will help you when you need the help. She also talks to herself at times when no one is looking, so be on the lookout.
She is a tough tough teacher. Although the ASH 132 is extremly hard and you have to study she seems disorganized and loses her place a lot. She also skips class and labs a lot and expects u to catch up. Don't take in winter if it snows you won't have class, then she crams everything at once. Doesn't leave room after lab to study
very smart lady, i learned sooo much from her, things i still remember till this day, i would go home and study everyday, because of the class's difficulty but she is great!
She is great!!! i took both anatomy 1 and 2 with her and got an A+. I never thought Anatomy and physiology would be so clear. But you gotta be true to yourself, you have to study to pass; she makes it easy.
I found her class a little difficult. she explains the material very simply in class, when it comes to the tests it is completly different. you really have to do alot of studying in order to pass this class.GOOD LUCK!!
GREAT PROFESSOR. I had her for summer. Very clear, excellent teacher. Thank you very much professor.
Great teacher. Had for 131 and 132. Lecture very clear and tests reflect directly what is taught in class. very thorough in lab. Great Teacher!
I had her for AHS 131 Lab. She is very helpful in explaining the different structures. She gives you a sheet at the beginning of every chapter telling you what you MUST memorize. If you memorize it then you'll be fine.
THE BESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. SHE IS THE BEST SCIENCE TEACHER NCC HAS IF THEY LOSE HER I WOULD FEEL SORRY FOR ALL THE FUTURE STUDENTS. WAY BETTER THAN LUCCA AND POLLOCH COMBINED
She is a great professor, she gives you a hand out to follow from while she explains every bone, muscle and all the lab materials for AHS 131 lab.I definitely recommend her.As a student, if you really want to be successful you will have to go an extra mile, it is not just the professors. It is all about you as an individual.
Awesome teacher and very clear on the material. She is not a walk in the park, you must study from the book. Has a fun way of memorizing and teaching. Do your part, and you will be rewarded.
Dr. Findley is very knowleageable and informative professor. She makes the classe very interesting and gives an examples that applies in every day life. Don't be afraid to take her class like I was previously. Study hard and you will learn a lot and do well. Great professor!!!!!!!
DR. FINDLAY IS AWESOME, ALL PROFESSORS SHOULD BE LIKE HER
i took all my AHS classes with her, she is that good!! if anyone dont pass her class is because the person didn't put as much time the class requires
Great professor. Clear and consise, all exams are directly from the notes. Will definitely do something for you at the end of the semester(ie; drop lowest grade, bonus points, etc.)A great prof for Anatomy as well as Medical Microbiology.
You have to take digital camera pics of the plastic models and be able to name them if you want to get an A in her lab. It can be hard because they're plastic models. Lecture tests, are easy to hard. . Devote at least 2 hour study time on this class and make sure this is the only class you're taking. You gotta focus on Anat. if you want to do well.
This Prof. designs the exams to confuse the students. Will not recommend this Prof. to anyone. I am an older student because I'm switching careers so I have experience with many Professors. in my education background. Overall Prof. Findley's intentions are not to help the student.
Not the best Science teacher. I had much, much better. But she's okay for lecture test, the lab ones can be tough. Unlike other teachers, she's not crystal clear on what's going to be on the tests so you don't really know what's going to be on it. Unfortunately.
She is a great prof. Clear, organized. Knows the material. Take good notes and study and you'll get an A. Lecture tests are fair. Lab are easy. I strongly recommend her. I love her. She is an asset for ncc.
A very good professor, all her test are from her notes so take good notes, better yet, invest in a good recorder.A little eccentric but she knows her stuff, she gives extra credit for preparedness so be prepared for her class.
I took 132 Lab with Dr. Findlay. I looked forward to going to her class everyday-she made anatomy so interesting! She explains things so they really stick in your mind, but, you have very little time to review the models on your own. Taking pictures of the models helps. Tests are a bit tricky, but I still want to take her class for med-micro
Please do not take her if you plan to do well in A&P or Microbiology.
DR.findlay is a good professor but test are not simple......didn't have her for lab but all i can tell you is that if you study you will be fine....tests are 100% from notes!!!
I wish Micro had 2 parts like Anatomy. Prof Findlay definately loves what she does !!!!! I REALLY enjoyed her class, she is an EXCELLENT professor. I had Prof Lucca for Lab, she is also an amazing professor. They are a great team.
Dr. findley is very exact she does not try to help you, even if you are trying. DO NOT BUY THE TEXT BOOK. Its a waist of money. Buy a recorder or take excellent notes because everything comes from her notes EVERYTHING. TAKE MY ADVICE if you do that you will pass otherwise she is not good for you. I passed with a B+ but i worked hard for it.
Dr. Findlay is a trip. She's hysterical in class, but you do remember her tips and tricks for memorizing stuff. I only had her for lab, i wish i had her for both. i cant wait to take her again. just study, study and study. if she mentions it, it will be on a test. very enjoyable, she makes anatomy fun and interesting
I only had her for lab. Wish I had her for both lecture and lab, she's the only reason I have a chance at passing a&p 1
Findlay is by far the best Lecture professor I've had at NCC so far.The Book was lightly used for first test only. Everything else from the notes & handouts. Buy a tape recorder because she speaks fast, and one little bleep can appear on the test! Great Professor, Passionate, Highly recommended! Got an A!
She is great! One of the best science teachers in this world! Findlay gives awesome notes. Her test are all based on her Notes. Don't bother asking for help or freebies because she is totally unapproachable and is not going to help anyone, though she is a fair grader. Just remember her classes are a lot of work. And they are not easy at all.
She's a terrible teacher! She teaches way too slow and contradicts herself. We didn't take out first test until 7 weeks into the class when we were supposed to take it the 2nd. She makes up her own names for parts. She can never wrap up her lessons. We always end 5 mintues after the class is to end.
Had her for the summer session. 4 lecture exams, 2 lab practicals, everything comes from her notes. No curves or extra credit. You'll be working with bacteria in lab which is pretty fun. She tends to be disorganized and verbose which slows things down a bit, so we had 3 exams in the last week. Rough but doable for a serious student. Got an A.
Definitely the worst professor at nassau. She will not help you, if you ask for help she will then tell you "you should know this" and will walk away. Dont bother wasting your time and money, take someone else.
Shes a GREAT teacher. Her test are based off of her notes & she may teach a little slowly, but honestly "I appreciate that". Because she actually makes the information understandable. Other lecture professors just read out of the book and send you on your way. Shes more in depth with her explanations.
She is an ok professor. Her lectures are interesting, however she talks too much, to the point where we get behind and have little time to study for an exam. She is not organized so she will stop in the middle of lecture to gather her thoughts and her notes. This is not an easy class, you have to study at least 4-5 hrs per day and take good notes!!
I found her lectures to be boring and hard to follow because she tends to go off on tangents. At times she appears flustered and disorganized. She does not like it when the students ask questions!!! I got an A in the class because I taught myself everything from the book. That being said, she is lenient, will give partial credit for answers, etc.
She is an extremely clear teacher. Her exams are based on her lectures. Take excellent notes, and you will get an A
Had her for lab. anyone with anything negative to say was CLEARLY not prepared for any anatomy and physiology class. you need to breath this material. & prof findlay explains it all thoroughly! she gives a review sheet on EVERYTHING that she'll test you on, she drops one test grade even! she's quirky and adorable, take this woman! love this woman!
PROS: Doesn't use boring powerpoint presentations. Good explanations. Can be entertaining. CONS: Study guides are poorly made. Doesn't give enough time with the models. Her handwriting isn't the best.
Extremely nice lady, extremely disorganized. It's hard enough to prepare for a test, but when she keeps delaying them, not good. No study guides, no extra credit of any kind. Handwriting is horrid, I feel bad for the kids who can't read script. Not my favorite, I would try and get Costa or DeFeo, in other words Run Toto Run.
Findlay while enthusiastic about A&P is extremely disorganized which makes it difficult to take notes. Coincidentally every exam comes straight from the notes making it extremely hard for students to do really well. Little to no text book use and straight forward lab practicals. Take great notes and you are golden, also record every lecture!!
Best professor I have EVER had!!! She is so clear with what she expects and rewards hard work. She is so passionate about teaching and you can tell she loves her job. I loved going to her class.
Hard class!if you are not into science like me then I wouldn't take her she was talking so much about stuff we never learned so it's expected of you to read the ch.(ea. ch is like 30-40pgs) ahead of time.had to withdraw!no ways to bump your grade or study guides!hard to read her notes and never lets you out early keeps you later
The worst professor i have had! She will not offer any help if you ask, she will embarass you in class and is extremly rude. shes very disorganized and her tests are very unfair. Dont take her class!
hate hate hate this class. i got an A in ahs131 with masi but with her i could not pass her lecture exams she made it extremely difficult for lecture we had 8 exams 100 questions plus lab.
Ok anyone that has anything bad to say about prof Findlay needs to reevaluate themselves. She is by far the most amazing professor ever! Her passion about the subject is amazing, which makes her teaching even better. Everything in her tests comes straight from her lectures. However, the student needs to put work into it. Highly recommend !!
took her for anp2 definitely would not recommend however i took her for micro and she does know her stuff. She gave us review sheets covered everything on the exam. TAKE A LOT OF NOTES!!!. Tough course but if you study and take notes you'll do fine she gave me a B+
This woman although learned in these areas needs to take classes on how to teach. Having a B.S. In teaching I was totally embarrassed for her as she was so disorganized lacked the ability to communicate and was often bitter towards students. I had had many college science courses and only had one person as bad as she was.
The best lecturer and easy A.
By far the worst teacher I've ever had at Nassau. I've had some pretty bad ones. She won't take the time out to give a full explanation & she thinks she's superior to everyone sitting in the classroom. Run.
Avoid her if you can. She's not that bad but can ruin your semester. Her lecture tests are hard. She is very disorganized and her handwriting is horrible. She's funny tho. Not an easy A but I think if you record her lectures you can get a decent grade. Forget about the text book. Its all about her notes!!!!
Dr. Findlay is very nice and wants everyone to well. She gives easy tests and always tries to help out the best way she can. Don't bother buying the textbook because test are directly from her lectures and handouts. Her tests are simple and straight to the point, she doesn't try to confuse you. Amazing woman!!! I highly recommend her.
Very nice and knowledgeable. Cannot get all the material in on time because of the tangents she goes on, but blames it on being a summer session. The trick to this class is bring a voice recorder. All of the test questions come right out of lecture. Don't even buy the textbook. I would recommend this teacher.
Lab was easy , but for lecture test Lord have Mercy
Awesome lab professor ! Explains all material very well. If you show up to class and study, you should pass with an A.
There's something mentally wrong with her. I don't know how she got this job. She speaks to the class like we're all dumb. You basically have to teach yourself if you take her. Notes are all over the place and so is she. HOT MESS! Do Not Take Her Class!
Professor Findlay is an old school teacher. She's tough on her students but I'm unsure if she wants to see us succeed. If you like power points don't take her. She says to buy the book but her tests are based off of what she says in lecture. No curves very strict with that also.
Horrid. Needs to reevaluate her position in life. Teaching is Not for her. If it is too late for you to withdraw before finding out she is your teacher I suggest that you learn every piece of knowledge better than her just so that you may decipher what convoluted questions will be on her test.
this was one of the worst professors i had. she makes no sense. not helpful in any way. she gives you review sheets for her lecture tests but when you take the test nothing from the sheet was on the test, and what was on the test was the complete opposite from the review sheet. have to teach yourself. DONT TAKE HER.
Very difficult to understand. If you read every day and keep up with the work then you'll pass.
Took her for A&P 1 though she wasn't that bad, took her again for A&P 2.. worst mistake ever!!! she stated that we would only have 4 test 50 questions each, after the first test she started giving us 2 test to take in 1 hour!!! Horrible!! she didn't seem to care for her students!
I received an A in AHS131, I expected that I would be able to read the textbook and understand all the models in AHS132. This was not the case as Findlay claims the textbook reading is required but often goes against the facts in the textbook! Review sheets are given but she doesn't follow them as guidelines for her tests (new info is presented).
This professor is a walking thesaurus of useless information. She says the same big scientific word and repeats it until she finds the fifth grade equivalent. Has a habit of emphasizing useless information like what the page number of the book we are in. I have a science degree and I'm sure that she teaches incorrect information.
She is very old school and tough. Out of all of the other lab teachers she assigns the most material to memorize in her lab packets. There are 5 practicals, 50 questions each. She is also condescending. However, I think that being challenged is the only way we can grow intellectually. From her class, I developed more effective study habits.
at first i heard some many bad things about her but she was a good lab prof to me. basically study her packet and i will definitely get 100 on her tests. she dont really care about spelling, and she divided bones exams into 2 exams. i will definitely take her lab class again cause she is greattt in lab, but not for lecture
STUDY HER PACKET! She gives you a packet before every test. Study her notes and you'll do fine. She doesn't count spelling as long as you are close. But beware she does like to throw little things in that she did not cover fully in class.
Be prepared to teach yourself! She gives out packets to study that contradict information in the textbook. Her test questions are super specific and are often on topics she barely went over. She is truly disorganized. She'll spend 20 minutes of a lecture off on a tangent and then will rush through important material to make up the time. Avoid her.
She is the worse professor i have had ever. She doesn't teach the material well. You basically teach yourself the whole semester. she sends you the outline notes and reads it in class. no real reason to go to class if she's justing reading what we have.
I have her for both lecture and lab and she throws about 25 anatomy questions into the lecture exams. She does warn constantly "you are responsible for what you have learned in laboratory and lecture" but I don't find this to be fair as lecture is supposed to be the physiology portion- I never know what to study.
Professor Findlay illustrates anatomy on the chalkboard. She goes over the models a few times. This repetition is helpful to for memorizing the structures. Her tests are a bit tricky, but she gives half points rather generously. She's kind of quirky, so it's understandable that some students don't like her teaching methods, but I enjoyed her class.
She was the worst professor i have ever taken at nassau, if you get her drop the class and retake it with someone else. Anyone else is better.
Dr. Findlay is a very smart woman. That being said teaching college courses might not be the best thing for her. She is disorganized and unclear, and does not manage the time of the semester well. Write down everything she says, study it, read the book more than once. Lectures are painfully boring but it's the only way to get some info for tests.
The only thing SOME WHAT good about this prof. is that she gives you an outline for the lab exams - however, you're better off staying home & teaching yourself. she doesn't know how to teach A&P Lab. So unorganized, doesn't go over any models (she prefers to draw on the board) it felt more like an art class. Whatever you do, do not take this prof.
A lot of information for each test. First test was the hardest. I recommend to record her and take really good notes. Study what she says in class that's mainly what the tests are on. Use textbook for extra understanding. Work VERY hard you'll learn a lot and pass. She's a very nice lady and cares a lot about the subject," do you apriciate this?"
she is too smart to teach introduction of micro. she always off topic but trust me if you record her and study everything she said in the recording along with her powerpoint you be just fine. you don't even need the lecture book just her power points and thats it. 1st exam was the hardest. 2nd 3rd and 4th are piece of cake if you study her notes.
I like her. Shes so cute & she is very intelligent. She lectures and doesnt use much of the PowerPoints which to me is great Bc i learn better that way. I hate when teachers just read off slides. I feel like people just have to get used to her but overall shes a good professor & she gives review sheets and easy grader
Do not take her class , you will regret it.
I cannot see how Dr. Findlay has so many negative reviews. She is very caring. I love her teaching strategy. She is very patient and explains very well. She creates her own PPT and does not only read from the slide. She wants you to understand and appreciate the content. Her exams are straightforward. I am glad I had her for AHS 202 for the summer.
This class is definitely hard, you cannot rely on your previous knowledge to get by its definitely nothing compared to a HS science class. Pay attention, record her lectures and study the recordings/power points and you'll be fine. It is hard work but you gotta go to class and pay attention if you want good results. Textbook not used.
Shes a nice lady but she doesnt know how to translate the information over to students. Nice lady, but honestly it may be time for her to retire already.
She is very strict with the policies. I understand that we arent allowed to drink water in class but what she said to a student is ridiculous. She told the student that she hopes she gets badly sick because she deserves it. And she called the whole class brain dead. Over a water bottle in class.
professor Findlay made this class easy. All you need to do is recording what she said in class word for word and rewrite them back at home. Take all the lab video and picture when shes explaining things. She explained them in details. All tests and exams came from her words in classes. Very easy A. She is a very easy professor with Easy class.
listen when I tell you. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. She marks things wrong even when they are partially right. On one test I wrote parathyroid glands instead of posterior parathyroid glands, and she marked the whole question WRONG. She is so bad that other A&P professors tell their students to drop her class.
I really enjoyed Dr. Findlay's class. She is a very intelligent woman and clearly knows her microbio. She gives powerpoint presentations and goes over them in detail in lecture. I found the class very interesting and I would definitely take her again. Study her notes and record her lectures and you will be fine. Don't miss class!
Memorize her handouts and study her power points. If she writes it on the board, know it. She is smart and she teaches so that you learn the material. I took it during the summer. Prepare to study.
For starters, Im not sure how Professor Findlay has a teaching license. She wastes most time in lecture talking about unnecessary material that everyone would be alright if they didnt know. If you have the option to take a class with her, DONT! Her favorite word is um and doesnt answer questions clearly. No option to rate a zero! Hence the 1
Doesn't know how to clearly explain the material simply. Messy and Disorganized. Spends too much time on a small topic. Things she does not cover is on the test. To do well, you have to memorize every word she says, study the powerpoints like crazy. Take another prof if you can. Wording of the tests are confusing. Gives chances for extra credit.
Don't see why she has so many awful comments. Not gonna lie you're going to have to study hard for her class in order to get good grades but honestly, don't pay attention to her slides cause they won't be on her tests. Rather record her and write literally everything she says down. study the recordings and your notes and you'll do fine.
Do not take her. She gives you a lecture for LAB class. She barely goes over what's needed on the models. During an exam I asked what an arrow was pointing too, which she responded "she will accept both this and this" as she pointed. Then, she proceeds to mark my answer WRONG b/c "she did not mean that". She is terrible worst teacher I've ever had.
I loved my Lecture professor, but my lab professor is one of the worsts professors I had in college. She doesn't explain well, and doesn't really care to help students in class. The way she answers questions does not explain anything. There is only one extra credit assignment due during the semester. She takes off credit for the stupidest things.
Took this course remotely because of COVID so my experience might be different. She doesn't really explain the material well. Don't bother using her notes. Just study from the lab manual using the pictures given. Had a lot of days off because of holidays but she also took personal days. We had no class btwn our last two exams and were on our own.
Professor Findlay is an awesome teacher. I took her Med micro AHS 202 Lect/Lab via zoom/remote during Covid 19 Fall semester 2020. She is a very organized, so stay alert and pay attention. A lot of info, 4 exams-lect/lab are strictly off her power points. Light reading via Pearson ebook (can be rented)avail through Blackboard, and she sets it up.
this was by far the hardest class ive taken. she does not explain things well. she vaguely explains things. the models she teaches us are not the ones shown on the test. she gave us 1 extra credit project that i could not do on my computer so i handed in on paper and she gave a me a horrible grade which was completely unfair. i did not learn much.
I had her for Lab. The Pro's. She records her Labs and sends them out. She's easygoing and shes funny. There is no homework. The Cons for me were, she doesnt go over the models nor the microscope slides thoroughly. Doesnt teach you how to differential between slides. She teaches lecture instead of lab. You will need tutoring to do well on tests.
I'll be honest Professor Findlay is very nice but she does not teach the material well. 99% of the time I end up teaching myself instead.
I took professor Findlay for the Fall semester of 2022. She is a nice person, but is not the best teacher to say the least. She adds random topics to tests that she tells you not to study for. You are going to have to teach yourself the class. Again, she is a nice person but is not the best professor.
Quite possibly the worst teacher I've ever experienced in academia. Dry lecture. Tests do not correlate with her lectures/powerpoints. Our first exam the class average was a "51%" and she told us that we did not study. She will be listed as 'TBA' during course registration because her classes don't fill (colleges even know). Take somebody else.
Messy and disorganized. You can go to her for help, she accessible, no guarantees that she will actually help you. I went to office hours a few weeks consecutively before finals to get her help with reviewing, I did worse on the final. There is a lot of information on her slides that you're not tested on, not like she'll clarify for you though.
Not the best and didn't break down much
she not best I wouldn't recommend taking her.
