She is an awesome teacher. Very helpfuland is always available to answer any questions. Just make sure you complete all your work and have fun.

This teacher will go that extra mile for you if you work hard and show up to class..She has a great deal of passion for this field of study .. you wont regret taking any of her classes..

I took her online class and she is a great instructor. Make sure you READ the directions, text, and grading rubric. Ask for help if your not understanding it. Do the work and study and you will do just fine.

Her classes are about education & she is training people who wish to go into that field,so the amount of work she gives is perfectly reasonable.She's fair and helpful,passionate and knowledgeable about the subject, which shows when she lectures.If you're lazy, don't want to learn and be challenged, her classes may not be for you.I like them & her.

She is very nice, and she knows her stuff. As long as you do the work well, and show up to class, you will the pass. The tests aren't super difficult, but they aren't super easy either. I will definitely take her again.

First off, yes this instructor is hard. Assignments are typically due at 10PM instead of the standard Midnight, make note of that. Missed assignments aren't accepted for ANY reason, which I disagree with to honest. BUT, if you can get past that, she's actually a really good teacher and her online class is thought-proving. You'll enjoy it. I did.

Let me start off by saying this class was HARD!!but worth it. if youre avid on going into the field of child development she will prepare you no doubt but be prepared to put the work and effort in. she is a lovely lady and knows her stuff makes class interesting and expects class participation and no late work be in class or fail textbook mandatory

This is the best teacher ever. She is so amazing and passionate about her work that i completely changed my major. I will be graduating this semester and have taken ever class with her. Just read your book and show some respect and you will do fine.

Teacher is HARD. It is worth it. But there is a lot of reading, The discussion boards are extreme. 1 every week. 1 original post, then 2 replies to students. You need 3 sources each. They are like mini essays. Then there are exams, interviews, life-line assignment, power points. Grades very fast, very helpful. Quick to answer email. A lot of work!

Great information, presented in an interesting way. As long as you do the reading and pay attention to instructions, you will have no problem with this class.

This teacher is pretty tough, but she really knows her stuff and you will learn a lot of interesting info on children. She expects nothing but respect, and will call you out if you don't show it to her or your fellow classmates. If your a class clown or careless then this teacher is probably not for you. Can be stubborn and sometimes come off rude.

This teacher is amazing! I loved taking her class. Although, if you are not a serious student then this teacher is not for you. She is very tough but fare. I would take her again, I learned so much!

Just finished this online class. Definitely not "easy" class but full of interesting topics and the class was well organized. Instructor always responsive and supportive. I've had her before for face to face too. Fun, energetic, passionate about the material.

Online for 6wks. This is not an easy A class, I would spend probably 15 hrs per week on this class. The discussion boards are intense, you have to research post and responses. This class has 3 outside observations and a few papers. She is a hard grader but helpful when asked. I would take her again because I did learn a lot from her class.

I took a hybrid class which involved A LOT of reading and writing, so maybe I think she's harder than she actually would be in a strictly classroom-based environment. She is very knowledgeable, a professional who expects you to be a professional, too. Quickly responds to email. Clear expectations. I had to work hard for my A.

BEST class I've taken at MSJC! This prof is full of energy, passion and knowledge of all things CDE. Genuinely cares about students and will work with you as long as you do your part. Lots of in class activities to reinforce concepts. Highly recommend!

Professor is very understanding. Took class online and it is necessary to complete projects. If there is a problem, the professor is professional and willing to work with her students.

Amazing professor. Took her fast-track class in Spring and it was definitely fast pace. Very willing to help you and make sure you understand the material. The discussions in class were very helpful because she would give the pop quiz right after discussing everything. Such a sweet woman, I would definitely take her again!

Online class was easy to navigate and filled with information to help with understanding expectations. I don't understand others who say she's a hard grader-- it is a university level class and so I expect it to be hard! Great feedback and communication. If you care about learning about development and children, take this class!

This was my first online class and I feel spoiled by the experience. The lectures are clear to follow and all expectations for assignments are easy to follow. She is available by phone or e-mail for problem-solving too. I want to take her in person next because she is so passionate about early education and I want to continue in this major.

Great online class. Fast-paced but clear assignments given from the beginning. I have taken face to face classes with her before and shes always enthusiastic, passionate and genuinely cares about her students understanding the material. Dont pass up chance to experience her in person but online class was good too. Get the textbook- she does use!

I wish this professor taught all the CDE classes. Ive had her for 4 classes and shes great. The reviews that said she gives no feedback makes no sense since she lets us do multiple reviews.

Professor Lorraine is passionate about child development and that shows in every aspect of her class. Her lectures are engaging and she uses real examples from her own career to teach concepts. Absolutely loved her. She is such an amazing teacher. The only thing is there are few assignments so if you do bad on the few it is hard to bounce back. The test online were a little difficult only because a few questions I felt like werent covered by the material at all so they were hard to answer. Overall great class though.

I took professor Slattery for CDE-101 and I highly recommend taking her class. She is caring and understanding when it comes to her students. A textbook was required and we did a lot of reading but the lectures were amazing and exciting.

Professor Slattery is amazing at what she does and I would recommend her to anyone that is taking child development courses. She is very kind and understanding. She will made you work for your grade, it is not just given to you, but it was very easy to earn an A since she explains everything so well. A textbook with mindtap was required.

By far, Professor Slattery might be one of the best Child Development professors I've had! I took her fast paced CDE 101 class (8 weeks), so I am not speaking for normal class. She does grade thoroughly, and leaves great feedback. Prepare to read and write, a lot! And know how to correctly cite using APA format. EC at the end, do it! Bumped me to A

I loved this class and professor she was very organized. Took it fast track and she gave lots of chances to do the work over to make up points. She is very kind and takes into account that we all have a lot going on outside of class. I hope I can take her class in person some day. No book either she uses online which saves money too.

Just finished this class as short term class online. We had meetings on zoom every week and I honestly looked forward to it every time. I wish it was a full length class because Im going to miss it now its over. The work was balanced pretty well. Not easy but doable. No textbook which is bonus! Loved how she arranges her course setup.

I have thouroghly enjoyed this course and I feel like I learned so much! I wish that other Professors at MSJC were as organized and well-structured as this class has been!

Take this class! She is fantastic and gives very detailed feedback on work to help you get better. She gives multiple opportunities to re-do work to bring grade up. Shes really kind as well. You will love this class. Im sad its almost over.

Prof. Lorraine takes a lot of time to give detailed feedback on the work each week. I really liked how she helped me in the weekly reflections. There is a lot of reading but it all makes the class interesting and usually the modules were 2 weeks. I loved the zoom time lectures with her every week. This is one class I will miss.

If you want to work with children take a class with Professor Lorraine. She is VERY kind and will inspire you to work harder. Have taken a few classes with her and loved them all. Not a walk in park but make you think, learn and truly leave understanding the material. She is great.

There is a lot of reading in this class but it is interesting stuff so it keeps you engaged. TAKE NOTES like on everything!! You need them for the discussions in class and for the final. Slattery is lovely as others said she is super kind and easygoing. Tough grader but fair too and gives chances to do over if you bomb. Oh and read the rubric too!

Prof S is a great, nice professor who gives great feedback. Definitely a heavy writing class and grades tough but fair. 1-2 assignments a week AND a unit reflection. 5 mandatory assignments to pass class. Understanding when I wasnt doing too good w personal life. Make sure you do every assignment and dont fall behind. Will use free txtbook.

The work load is a bit on the heavy side. Lots to read and write. However, Professor Slattery is very kind and understanding. Shes willing to meet with you to explain and go over assignments. She provides great feedback and i love how she acknowledges and appreciates your hard work. Highly recommend and I would def take her again.

Loved this class. Great Zoom lectures and group discussions. I looked forward to going every week and will miss my group. Teacher very kind and passionate about her work. She gives lots of chances to re-do work for better grade. Some big assignments are hard but ask questions-she answers quickly and really wants everyone to do well.

Took this professor for CDE 101 and CDE 110 within the same semester. This professor was my favorite professor. I do not believe this class is difficult, just a lot of textbook reading and taking notes and some mandatory assignments here and there. Overall, her classes r easy and she helps u if u are struggling. Best professor I have ever had.

I took this as an online class and it was a free textbook which is huge plus. I like how she organizes her classes the same (I had her for the nutrition class last semester). She is very nice to talk to and is understanding of life happening. The class was interesting and the big papers we could review again if didn;t make a good grade.

Took her class in-person, but she still assigns a lot of reading and note-taking, we didn't discuss or review the material in class so you have to make sure you understand it from your readings at home. Otherwise earning points and getting a high grade is easy. She is highly qualified and passionate, and encourages research on your future career.

Professor Slattery is the department chair, yet she truly cares about her students as people. She is an incredibly approachable person who truly wants all of her students to excel. She allows extensions on a case by case basis for students who are trying to do well, if they encounter a difficult situation. She allows students to redo things.
