Always willing to help her students. Easy to get along with. I would take her again.
Mrs. Wood acts as if she wants to help the students in her class. But she lacks so much effort in doing so. Her lectures are hard to understand.Maybe because she is a new teacher in COC. taking her class now, walked away when I needed help. her essays ARE hard to understand. I feel like I'm in elementary school with all the little exercises she has us do. I do not enjoy her class. a big portion of your grade is talking in class, so if youre shy, like me, good luck with that one. I wouldn't take her again.
While her class is challenging, I feel that she works very hard to giver her students the much needed tools to write outstanding papers. This class will guarantee a successful academic career. I would take her class again in a heartbeat and highly recommend her! Only downside, she is a bleeding heart liberal...
I don't think she knows what shes doing. She constantly changes subjects without notice and doesn't explain well what shes trying to teach
This class was very easy and straightforward. Complete the essay requirements and some in class assignments and presentations and you should have no problems. Professor Wood is a little strict about attendance/ tardiness and deadlines but she's nice. She's not very prompt with emails so if you have questions ask her in person.
I took English 101 online and it was SOOOO EASY! I highly recommend taking Lorrie Wood if you choose to take an online English class. A lot of essays are required (I took it over winter break) but I think she grades really easy. I ended up with an A. Super easy class I highly recommend
She was very unclear on all of her prompts. Essay after essay I just kept feeling confused. The class is manageable to get a good grade, but I just bs-ed my whole way through. I got an A, but I worked super hard and it was just overwhelmingly stressful.
Although she is very kind, her formatting was very confusing, and she is completely inept with online technology. DO NOT TAKE HER HYBRID ENGLISH CLASS. She would put incorrect dates, have missing assignment links, and would sometimes completely forget to upload an assignment. This class is unnecessarily difficult.
Professor Lorrie Wood is a very soft spoken teacher.. by that I mean her lectures in class are BORING and not also helpful. She is very unorganized and unclear about due dates and sucks at getting back to you by email. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
Professor Wood is a nice person, but not a great teacher. I took this class as a hybrid, so it only met once a week. In-class time was useless and reminded me of learning how to write an essay in 7th grade. But if you don't show up, she will drop you eventually. Online assignments were confusing, unclear instructions. Would smash.
If you do all your work and attend to class you will definitely pass! She is a good professor but it just gets a little boring.
This was one of the most difficult classes I have ever taken. The subject matter/content itself is VERY easy to understand but Professor Wood is not only unorganized but is completely inept when it comes to teaching a HYBRID English class. It was also nearly impossible to get ahold of her. She is a very kind person, but not a great professor.
This teacher is smart but to me is not a good teacher. She jamed so much work in the winter class that it became overwhelming. Her classes is so EMPHASIZE in the essays that she gives you but her prompts are not understandable. she is a very tough grader and her lectures are long and boring. i would not take her classes if i was you

Professor Wood is super nice BUT she is the absolute most scatterbrained, confusing, lazy teacher I have ever met in my life. She answers questions with more questions. It's sad because this class is extremely easy she just makes it hard to learn anything at all. DO NOT TAKE ANY OF HER CLASSES. Unless you wanna feel like you're in the twilight zone
Very unclear teacher. Lectures feel like hours and grading is not something she is good good at. this teacher doesn't seem qualified for her job. With the grading style and class lecture and how she runs the class overall I feel like I could do better. That's not good
Instructions not clear & often contradictory. Not enough time between the unlocking of an assignment until it's due date. Does not respond to questions until you should be way into your assignment or passed due date. Assignment instructions are FULL of typographical errors (ENGLISH, HELLO). Essays due before chapter reading about them.
I had this class online so based on computer correspondence I can say her directions are clear. Follow the due dates given, they rarely change. Participate in discussion post and turn in the writing assignments and you'll be fine.
Nice and a relatively easy grader, but her instructions are often unclear and her lectures are largely unhelpful. Also, her feedback is hard to read and when she talks to you about it she'll focus more on details than any larger problems in your paper. There are 4 papers and a project throughout the semester, and each is worth 20% of your grade
TERRIBLE TEACHER. Didn't learn a thing, she just goes on and on about her politics for no reason. She isn't even well informed. Her directions are NOT clear, her handouts are FULL of errors, I emailed her five times and she never got back to me even with constant reminding. She is the WORST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD
- "wings it" everyday -99% of class is spent listening to her talk about irrelevant news and politics -changes class time often without telling you soon enough (20 minutes before is rude and unfair to students) -so unorganized that we accomplished less than a third of what we were suppose to by the end of course -WASTED the money I spent to LEARN
I cannot in good conscience recommend anyone take Professor Wood's English 101 course. The course was not hard, but she was disorganized and poorly prepared.
I took prof. Wood during the winter as an accelerated course. I definitely recommend this class as an accelerated course and not a full-term course because there were a lot of assignments. Tips: Do every single assignment, try your best on essays, and do a little extra than what is required and you will ace the class.
I took her over Winter 2020. She is friendly, grades fairly, and responds back quickly to emails. She also gives good, clear feedback on rough draft essays. There is just a lot of homework and assignments due every week which, is expected in a short-term course. To keep a good grade, just stay on top of assignments and you will be fine.
I would not recommend professor Wood's classes. She is polite, but her grading criteria does not make sense. She also issues way too much homework at the end of a semester with no extensions. She is not clear about what she wants to see on assignments.

I had several personal issues this semester, and she was very understanding.
I found this class challenging but in a good way. I learned about the structure of an essay and how to read critically.
There is quite a bit of reading, but it all ties into the essays. Four essays including a research project. The quizzes are open notes and manageable.

The extra credit saved my grade this semester. So thankful for the extra support.
