Very easy to learn from, but the tests can be tough.

Great teacher. Fun to listen to, has some interesting stories. Learned alot
lectures are interesting ~ he's a pretty funny guy. one of the best teachers i've had ~ learned a lot
Tough tests, tests are from lectures, likes to get off topic...but accepts a lot of extra credit!!
very good teacher...really funny, loved all the stories!!
Great guy hooked me up with a grade ;)Just do your work and go to class.

Tests are form lecture so show up. Don't enen bother buying the book. According to him, it is wrong. Likes to BS about himself. Lectures are pretty much about him in gradute school.
Fun class, great stories, loves what he teaches
What a great teacher
Fun guy makes class interesting. Do not buy the book
He's very helpful, always eager to explain things if you do not understand. Very encouraging, clear, and fair.
Great professor! Tests are not difficult as long as you take good notes on lectures.
Professor Cohen is a good guy with good intentions. But he talks so much about things that are irrelevant. If you're just looking for an easy gen ed..take him. If you really want to hear about more than just him in grad school..don't.
the class itself is difficult, but he does everything he can to help students understand. Read the book, and go to the student aids if you need to. He is very knowledgable, and brings his life experiences in to help explain topics.
Read, read, review. He makes the material seem simple and easy to understand so the test seems surprisingly difficult. It isn't if you take a little more time with the material.Very knowledgeable and his going into "left field" as he calls it ad
Very awesome. Very clear on assignment. It is important to her that her students LEARN- not just come to class. Good lecturer. Fair person. Very helpful. Highly recommend her as a professor. She should teach other professors how to teach. Best class
the best teacher. makes the course interesting.
I'm a Psych major now thanks to him :)
He can be intresting but most of the time he is boring, I hated going to this class his tests are HARD!!! If you dont mind doing the work take this class!!!
Interesting, fun, open minded. jokingly called Dr. Strange due to interest in unusual phenomena, tests do seem surprisingly hard, but you'll learn a lot "you won't hear anywhere else" as Dr. Cohen says. One of my favorite profs
Cohen is an awesome teacher. He's funny and easy to understand. Very helpfull. He'll help you when you need help and give you hints on what will be on the exams ahead of time. He never has a boring lecture. His tests are 50 multiple choice questions.
Helpful with experiments. Makes sure you have everything you need for your study. Tests are a bit hard because when he lectures, he goes off into talking about his days in grad school. Tests are MC with 50 questions.
class was boring.. tests were extremely hard
I enjoyed Dr. Cohen and feel that he's a great teacher. However, the fact that he only grades on three exams killed me. His exams are difficult, therefore I feel that he needs to add some papers or other assignments to the mix.
Cohen is a great teacher! He makes the class interesting, even though he tells lots of stories about grad school. He's always willing to help. Relatively hard tests, but he tells you exactly what will be on them. I recommend him if you need to take a psych class. You're sure to enjoy the class. :-)
He is a nice guys lectures are interesting and everything is inthe book...the only bad part is his exams are impossible..despite trying every method i could never score over 70%...extra credithelps but hard to get as list fills up
Great professor, made me interested in a subject I used to have no interest in. Interesting anecdotes and stories make this class a great pick for Basic Psyc.
He was Awsome if you went to the class you will do fine. I had the class at 8:30 and it was still fun. His extra credit helps out a lot it can bring you up letter grades. TAKE HIM IF YOU CAN!!!
He is a really nice guy and has some interesting stories but his tests are super hard!! He talks really soft so you can barely understand him sometimes.
wow did this guy rule! he has TONS of stories and while tests are hard there is so much extra credit that it doesnt matter I got my grade raised a whole letter!
If it is an intro course, take him, once you are in the 300 and 400 level courses, avoid him at all costs - he is extremely difficult.
Cohen is one of the best professors I have ever encountered. Besides all of the stories he has to tell, he knows a lot about everything. Dr. Cohen will chit chat with you at anytime and help you out when he can (even if it's not with his class). SVSU was smart (for once) when they hired him.
Sometimes boring, but easy. Do the extra credit and your garde can go from a B to an A. Gets off subject sometimes and tells funny stories. Watch movies. Tests only half hour then you can leave. Drops lowest one.
Extremely tough tests - read the book! And, if you don't have time, spend lot of time on your notes, because 80% of questions are from notes. Class based on just 4 exams. Very nice prof. Only take this class if you are interested in this topic - if you aren't interested YOU ARE TOAST! I was a straight "A" student before this class. No regrets
This was a hard class! Your grade is based on four test grades, and the tests are HARD (even though they are all multiple choice!) On two of the tests, the class average was in the 60's. I enjoyed his lectures, and he told a lot of interesting and amusing stories. I enjoyed his class, and I would take him again. BE PREPARED TO STUDY!
I thought he was a great teacher, and I really enjoyed his class. Lots of funny stories, and if you plan to go to class you can do without the book. He tests right from his notes. You can tell he definitely loves teaching, which is great.
very good professor, has great stories to tell, follows the text well, speaks softly so kind of hard to hear sometimes but tests are a little challenging but drops lowest test score and replaces with adverage of homework score. avoid everyone else and take him for stats. also his stats. students do better in experimental psych (per cohen).
Very nice professor. He is soft spoken and often goes out in left field to a memory of his. Sometimes you really want to listen to him "babble" though because that long story that he will tell you often is a really good example of how the theories apply to the "real world". His tests are ridiculous! Do not expect an A. Study hard!
If you study and do your work, he makes it so easy for you to get an A. I understood everything. He teaches well.
Great prof. for those that try.
Brilliant prof. Makes the class fun and educational. Always happy to help you, whatever your troubles.
He's great !!!
Dr. Cohen is awesome! He makes the class so fun because of his fabulous and funny stories. He also knows what he's talking about. He's very friendly, but wants you to learn. He is the best prof that I have this semester. Take him!
HE IS AWESOME!!! THAT IS ALL THAT I HAVE TO SAY! HE KNOWS HOW TO TEACH. HE RELATES THE THEORIES WITH REAL THINGS IN LIFE! HIS LECTURES ARE ENOUGH TO PASS THE EXAMS. I HAVENT OPENED MY BOOK AND I ACED THE FIRST EXAM!!! IM NOT SAYIN NOT TO READ. SOME PEOPLE HAVE TO. BUT HE LECTURES VERY WELL!!!
My boyfriend has his class and he is always talking about how nice he is and how he is a great teacher. He drops your lowest test grade which helps a lot. He is a great teacher.
In his lectures he is really helpful but his exams are kind of difficult. But he drops the lowest exam score. Make sure to take advantage of the extra credit it is so worth it!
Very nice and knows his stuff! 4 exams and he drops the lowest one. Take it if you want an easy Psychology class.
GREAT PROF!! would be willing to help you with anything at anytime. I think he is the smartest guy I know and his class isnt too hard, go to a few experiments for extra credit and you will be perfect!
Great, funny, laid-back prof! Cohen makes everything understandable and relates it to his experiences. His class is never boring. If you pay attention to the lectures, you'll do fine. His exams are pretty easy compared to other psych profs and he drops the lowest score (not including the final). Xtra credit is available! I strongly reccomend him!
Just say his name... everyone loves him.. Makes class interesting.. very fun. Likes to have class discussions. More than willing to answer your questions for you... Takes time to make sure you know what you are doing!
I hated the class at first, the beginning material is boring! SO the first test was rough. After first test things are better! Attend class cuz test is mainly from class. Read book to get background info. Make sure to study and know topic well. Take advantage of extra credit. It is worth it! Helps bump up grade. Grade based on 3 tests but u take 4.
this guy is cool! he made this 8:30 class a breeze! TONS of extra credit...TAKE THIS PROF
I got an A w/out xtra credit, but there is a lot of xtra credit. Be attentive, you'll do good. Very cool guy. Elementary class for some, if you are used to tough classes like me, then try not to analyze too much, I looked too much at the exam ?'s and got the A at the end of the wire. Fun class.
This professor was so nice that he overloaded me into his enormous sized class. There are 4 tests including the final (Not accumulative). You can drop one, there are extra credit opportunities, and nothing else due to him (Homework or quizzes). I got a B in the class, but felt I deserved a B+ or an A-. Overall, Cohen was a pretty cool prof.!
Cohen is a great prof! He makes the class actually interesting and fun to go to. The tests are right from the lecture notes, you do have to study for the test, 50 multiple choice questions, that's it! 4 tests, one gets dropped, final not cumulative. Endless opportunites for EC. Got out of class early almost every day. Great guy! Highly recommended!
Dr. Cohen is a great guy. He is knows a lot. The first test was the hardest. Make sure you know the concepts. He does offer extra credit. He makes class fun. Make sure you take good notes and refer to the book and you will do fine on the tests. Homework helps with the math part of the class. Use the tutor if you need it.
He's such a cute little old guy. He lectures, you take notes. You take tests. That's all. There's no homework, and you can drop your lowest test score. And he really likes rats, so he talks about them a lot.
I loved him!! He was so interesting!! Really nice..told really good stories.. gives extra credit!!
Oh gosh I loved the class. He had a passion for teaching the subject. He discussed interesting topics in Psychology like Parapsychology and even taught us self-hypnosis! He also told funny yet interesting stories that helped clarify the topics we were discussing. I am a Psychology major and look forward to doing my research project with him!
If you have to take Math 130, 132, or Psych 299 (all Stat classes), then take the Psych with Dr. Cohen. His tests are pretty easy if you just pay attention, and he drops your lowest score and replaces it with your HW average (which will be 100). I skipped about 4 classes (in the summer) and got an A. He's a good teacher and a great guy.
Nice professor, 3 exams drops the lowest one and he offers a lot of extra credit. Take him if you can, there is no homework. He is one of those professors who care that his students take other courses.
Lou is a really good teacher, the best in the psych dept. I think just from what friends have said about their intro level psych classes. Definately recomend him to anyone. I never even bought the book and got an A. If your willing to go to class everyday and take good notes on the lectures everything he talks about is what is on the tests.
Dr. Cohen is an amazing prof! I thoroughly enjoyed his class and hated missing it! He helped me to develop a love for Psychology and it's now my Minor. He is extremely interesting and has a ton of great stories, it seems like he's done everything! He's a great guy and really loves talking with students, very willing to help you out. I didn't re

Physiological Psychology is an extremely hard course - straight up! Memorize the book and I would recommend having a strong chemistry, biology, and human physiology background if you plan on enrolling in the course. Dr. Cohen is such a cute old guy and is very knowledgable. He tells the craziest stories which spices up the class!
I was a math major who had taken no prior psych, but because of Dr. Cohen's lectures I managed an A in physiological psychology. He has such fascinating stories to relate to the material that it's impossible not to pay attention. Very laid back and enjoyable professor. There was a LOT of terminology to memorize for the tests, but it was managabl
Cohen is a great prof. Class is really easy 4 exams and you get to throw out the lowest score. He keeps everything fairly interesting and tells alot of personal staories. Tons of opprotunities for extra credit.
Cohen is a great prof. Class is really easy 4 exams and you get to throw out the lowest score. He keeps everything fairly interesting and tells alot of personal stories. Tons of opprotunities for extra credit.
Very solid teacher. I would highly recommend him for psych 100. I didn't buy the textbook and still pulled an A. Take him!
First test I got a D on everyone did bad and he expected it. I took tons of notes and read the chapters it didn't help. He talks to fast for me to keep up and I bring a computer. He hasn'nt offered extra credit or told us about dropping a grade. So it is stressful for me. He is funny I'll give him that.
Prof. Cohen is the man! He is so much fun, the class flew by. In a four hour class, he gives breaks and lets you out early. He is soft spoken, so get a seat in the front to hear better. Take notes quickly cause he doesn't always repeat things. Tells lots of stories and is very funny. I would definitely take him again.
Dr. Cohen is a great teacher. He is very quiet, so you do need to listen, but other than that...he's relatively easy. He gives four tests and throws out the lowest score of the first three. Unlimited extra credit for being a psych experiment. The book isn't used alot, but does help elaborate on what he says. Tells many funny stories. Great guy!
Well he is easy, but Considering that i got an F in the class is because i didn't study enough. You can hear him anywhere in the class, i don't know what everyone else is saying, i mean as long as you pay attention, then you can hear him. He doesn't give homework or anything, just 4 exams and throws out the lowest grade. Plus unlimited extra credit
A very interesting Prof who really knows how to teach. He gives straight forward exams, allows you to drop one of them, reviews in class for them, sends a set of lecture notes to the library, offers unlimited use of extra credit, gives breaks, assigns no homework, makes it so you don?t need the book, lets class out early, & holds your interest.
Professor Cohen is so cute and interesting. He tells you a lot of his personal stories and they are actually funny. His class is never a bore. Lot's of opportunity for extra credit. His tests are fair, just study your class notes&you'll do fine. I never even opened the book once. I would love to take him again!
LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. Cohen. He cracks me up, his stories are awesome, and he teaches so that students can understand. Take notes and learn how to do so quickly, he does talk fast. One of my favorite prof's so far at SVSU. TAKE HIM for Psych100 you will NOT regret it!!!
VERY good prof! I loved having him for Psyc 100 even though I had it at 830am. He is an interesting prof and tells interesting stories during class to keep you awake and not bored. I used my textbook infrequently, but could have used it more. Easy tests as long as you attend lecture and take decent notes. Highly recommended!
Great professor! The class isn't easy, however, you learn alot from it that carries over to other Psych courses.
great professor learned alot he was very caring and the first exam was very hard lots of extra credit I really enjoyed the call Coen is top notch.
I really enjoyed going to class. Professor Cohen is a very good teacher, tells stories about his life, topics are interesting. Tests can be hard, especially the first one. Lots of extra credit available, which is added to the final exam. Do it, I ended up with 27% extra credit from doing the experiments you sign up for. Take his class!
One of the best professors I have had since coming to SVSU. Tells many life stories and makes us laugh. He tells us life experiences that are very interesting. Will get off topic, but its well worth it. Gives you what you need to know and then lets you go. Gives reviews for tests and the first one is always hard.
BEST professor i've ever had! He's a cute little old man who's really funny. There wasn't any extra credit offered, but you're allowed to use your homework and book on the exams. attendance isn't mandatory, but his class is super interesting. I HATED math and was really nervous about taking a Stats class, but he made it easy! Take him if you can!
My favorite professor at SVSU, honestly if you ever have the chance take this guy. He is super funny, and makes different things memorable by relating them to life stories. He gets off track sometimes, but it's worth it because it soliDifies what you learned.
Best professor at SVSU! He is very clear! Test are very easy if you take notes during his lecture. Lectures are not boring. really funny and a great professor
I was quite nervous to take this class because math wasn't exactly my favorite subject however he made it so easy to learn and was clear on how you needed to do it. His stories just made the class that much better. Even though class wasn't mandatory I never missed due to the fact that its hard to learn on your own and his class was so interesting!
Bring a recorder to class..his lectures go to fast to keep up and material is not found in book if you miss it!
Takes very complicated material and makes it understandale and easier to comprehend. He is very laid back and easy to get along with! One of the best at SVSU!
Very interesting and told a lot of stories. Very very knowledgeable and hs a ton of experience. Able to relate to every topic he teaches and only teaches the topics he feels the class will find interesting for the most part. I would take him again if I could.
cohen was a nice old man that really knew his stuff. His lectures are somewhat boring but if you go to them take notes cuz what he says is on the test, anything he doesnt say and is in the book you dont have to know. I barely opened my book at all. You really dont need to buy it! There is no reason you shouldnt get an A he offers tons of extra cred
His stories were interesting and the class was interesting as well. I had a little struggle with the tests, but I passed the class with an "A" especially because he offers A TON of extra credit.
Very nice professor and very easy class. Offers unlimited extra credit, does review lectures, drops the lowest exam, and the final is not cumulative! Lectures can get boring but he loves to tell funny personal stories! Textbook really isn't needed if you attend lectures. Highly recommend :)
Loved Cohen. Gave a lot of extra credit. Lectures weren't mandatory but a lot of his test questions came from lecture and were not in the book. Don't even need to buy the book really...
Professor Cohen was a great professor. Told lots of stories. 3 exams, drops your lowest one. Final exam. LOTS of extra credit.
Absolutely loved this class!!! Professor Cohen was one of the sweetest men I have ever met and used his past experiences to teach the class. He kept it very interesting and his tests were straight from him lectures!!! Loved this class, take it!!!!
He's great! Makes class interesting and it's not difficult as long as you do the reading. Exams are also simple (multiple choice)(at least for his current class). Would DEFINITELY recommend him.
Hands down easiest class I have taken hands down. Never opened the book once and he gives unlimited extra credit. Take the class.
You are given the opportunity to obtain roughly up to 25% extra credit to your final grade, his lectures are somewhat boring and most of the things learned in class can be found in the textbook. If you attend all of his lectures, then DON'T buy the textbook. He NEVER uses it in class.
Professor Cohen is a very interesting individual with many interesting anecdotes. He is very kind and tolerant. Though he gets sidetracked often, it is tolerable. Doesn't use V-Space. Four exams, which are actually somewhat difficult, but the lowest is dropped. Can obtain 30% extra credit. Would recommend taking. No outside homework.
Great professor who tells lots of funny stories. Be prepared to study though.
I am a psychology major and I thought that they would put me with a better professor. He lectures the whole time, which is good for notes. However, he likes to get off topic and tells more personal stories than actually teaches. He never gives homework (which is how I learn). If your good at taking notes and love not having homework, he is perfect.
He has very interesting stories, but that is all he pretty much talks about. He does not use the text book and he only talks. He did not use power points or v-space. The only thing that we got graded on were the four exams that we had. I would most likely not take him again.
He doesn't use powerpoints during lecture so be prepared to listen. Study, take good notes, and you'll be fine. The tests are easy.
Very long boring lectures, I can never understand what he is talking about, he talks very fast and it is hard to get all the important Information
Great prof. He knows exactly what he is talking about and will help you when you need it (usually during his office hours). Very funny and loves to tell stories. Only down side is the modules to read did not match the ones on the syllabus. Other than that he is a GREAT professor.
Dr. Cohen is a very intelligent man, however he is very unorganized when presenting material. His lecture style is straight lecture, no visual aids or written notes provided. I felt as if the tests were not a good example of what was presented in class. Be prepared to independently study all material.
Lou Cohen definitely kept the class amused throughout his lectures. He used personal examples to describe the topics, which made them easier to understand. There few grades, but the tests are manageable if studied for. He also does not check attendance, but tests are based on lecture material heavily.
Honestly he is so funny! Tells great stories to help you remember the material. Make sure you take notes and the book isn't really necessary. No homework and your lowest exam gets dropped
Great professor. He does not use Canvas, but that's not an issue because he doesn't give out any homework assignments. Your grade is based solely on lectures, so don't skip. Also, don't buy the book! You won't need it if you attend lectures/take good notes. He is easy to talk to, and his lectures are funny and interesting. Lots of ex. credit!
I loved Cohen! No homework which is nice, and grade is based off of 3 exams. Lowest exam gets dropped. Uses stories during lecture to make things easier to remember. Do not buy textbook, it is not needed. Only downfall is there is no visual aids, he just stands at the front of class and talks. Easy A if you show up, take good notes and study well.
Amazing professor. He gives many helpful tips about test taking and life in general. Very interesting lectures. Dont skip the review lectures. He tells you exactly what will be on the exam.
Such an amazing professor! Very helpful not just in his class but with test taking and giving tips on how to do well in college. Tests are very straightforward and clear and he is very clear about what will be on the test during the review lecture. Definitely try to take him if you can!
Dr Cohen is an amazing professor and By far my favorite!!He explains hard concepts by telling interesting stories. Hes definitely one of the best psych professors svsu has. I would recommend him especially to incoming freshmen. Grade is based off 4 tests but he offers extra credit and theres no cap to the amount of points you can earn.
TONS OF EXTRA CREDIT! Tests are hard, don't go with lecture material. Grades are not posted on canvas. 3 exams, lowest dropped. Volunteer for extra credit experiments, each one 1 point but those add up and they only take 5-10 mins. GO TO CLASS offered 10 points for showing up to the last class and 15 for filling out the evaluation. No book needed.
Hands down the best professor I've had at SVSU. Funny, sweet, and really cares about his students. Study the notes, go to the exam review classes, and put effort in on the project and you'll do great. Looking forward to taking Dr. Cohen any chance I get.
Nice guy who knows his stuff. Has a lot of good stories that make class interesting. The whole class is writing down what he says during lectures, there are no power point slides or visual aid, but it's not bad. The test content does not correlate 100% with what is taught in class always but good grades can still be scored. Tons of extra credit.
Dr. Cohen is a good teacher for basic Psychology but be prepared to go off topic. You wont need to buy the book unless you skip class a lot, his tests are based mostly on the lectures but you can get by fairly well with just the book.
Amazing Prof. great lectures, gives great advice and funny stories. Classes can be difficult but so worth it.
I loved Dr. Cohen. He doesn't get off topic very easily and claims he has a new job every 5 minutes. But the only grades in the class are the exams and extra credit. I suggest to do the extra credit because it is super easy. He is a great professor and super funny. He loves telling stories!
An older professor who is nice and funny, but very confusing. I specifically had to get a tutor for this class and reach out to the math center for help. Do not buy the book!!! the only thing you need from it is 4 tables that you can find online. If you have him good luck and attend class so you have somewhat of an idea of whats going on.
Dr. Cohen is an amazing professor! You can tell that he really cares about his job and students and loves to tell stories to relate to the lecture. He is very accessible outside of class and I definitely recommend that you take advantage of this because this is a tough class and the only grades are the 4 exams, but if you study you'll be fine!
Grade depends only on exams, he doesn't know how to use a computer, and doesn't give much effort
Professor Cohen is great at what he does. This whole class centers around running an experiment, which he has a lot of experience in. Feedback is clear and as long as you follow the guidelines he gives, you should easily get a good grade. Only 3 exams, a paper, and poster/presentation for your experiment. Easy class if you stay on top of the work!
He didn't know how to use a computer at all. You MUST read the textbook to actually understand, no matter what anyone says. He prints powerpoint slides but doesn't always explain fully or give examples and sometimes skips around. The class itself wasn't truly difficult but make sure you have all of your notes in order for the (proctored) exam!!!!
Really sweet guy but the exams are 90% of your grade while homework is only 10%. quite a bit of homework is given and you will fail the class if you don't score at least 70% or higher on every exam. does respond relatively quickly and helps if you ask. not the greatest at using technology, however.
