This professor is great because he only teaches what he feels is important. If you don't understand and make your voice heard, he will explain the concept over and over again until you understand it. He is part-time and is very fair on test grading.
Oh my God he is the best psych teacher eveeeer. Hes easy funny and cute in a teddy bear kinda way. Just go to class and youll get an A.Teaches intro pysch only
best teacher ever!! i wish palomar had more teachers like him..his class is easy fun and you really learn, all his tests are straight from the notes nothing more nothing less.just take notes study and you will gurantee an A..hes funny always energetic..kept me awake!very interesting!he is so chill
Greatest teacher ever. Made me want to go to school, and influenced my educational choices. He made psychology fun. He teaches really well, and is relaxed but thorough. I completely enjoyed his class, I even showed up when I was sick just cause it was that interesting! GREAT TEACHER! A+++++
This is the best teacher I have ever had. HIs class is so interesting and easy. Just take 4 tests memorize the short easy notes and you are guarenteed an A. I reccomend him over any other teacher. I wish he taught more classes.
milstein is the man. enough said.
This professor is soooo awesome! He makes himself as available as HUMANLY possible. He poses no "intimidation" as far as asking questions in class, he beings care, thoroughness, application, and humor into his lectures and he is just a neat guy!!!!
Dr. Lou was very entertaining and academic at the same time. Be ready to study a lot. He is straight to the point about what to study. I really liked him and highly recommend his class. Best way to get an A is go to every class, study, study, study.
This is one of the best teachers at Palomar. He knows his stuff. He makes learning psychology fun. He helps guide his students to success.
Milstein rocks. I was not very interested in this subject, until I took his class. He is enerjetic, funny, and just a nice guy. He makes learning fun.
He made class fun and intresting
Great to see a teacher who likea to teach! Be ready to study.
easy format for learning and makes it clear on whats going to be on tests
This guy is great! His personality is sooo cool! and he grades fantastically! Take him if your smart!
lou is the reason i am now a pysch major. so enthusiastic. tests are challenging (no scan tron, lots of writing) but studying ensures an A and is very rewarding. doesn't undermine students' abilities. TAKE NOTES! most test material is from lecture. very good real life examples. very cool, informative teacher.
despite bombing 3/4 tests, i managed a B in the class after a good job on the final. A pretty easy teacher, fun, funny, and very involved with the students and the material.
He wasn't easy but I studied hard and I passed with an A. Study, study, study and come to class everyday.
wonderful teacher, very easy to understand! I looked forward to coming to his class every week, he is a funny guy. He makes phsychology interesting and he never gives homework!!! take him!!!
Easy, but goes over the same thing too many times. Makes the same jokes in every class. Always talks about himself. Thinks he is funny, when he really isn't. Nice guy though, easy to get a C, a little harder for an A. Need to study!
Since I took his class,i see the importance of psychology in our daily lifes, how we think, respond to life situations depend on our state of mind
It's pretty difficult to get an A but if you show up to class and study, you'll be fine. He's a very good teacher and very clear. The best part is no homework!!! He definitely treats you like a college student. If you get an A, you know you deserved it! Learned a lot!
Not an easy A, make sure you come to every class. All tests are in essay format and he always gives you a good review right before the test - never any surprises. You hardly even need the book. His class was entertaining, but he is very disorganized and is always late. I think he is also conceited and brags a lot.
Professor Milstein really makes learning fun. He keeps the class extremely interesting, has many funny life on life terms stories. I strongly recommend that everyone who can take Psyc. 100 take it with Professor Lou Milstein its an extra-ordinary educational experience!
An awesome teacher! You really have to pay attention though, and take good notes, he doesn't use the text book that much, but there is a lot of info. to learn. One of my favorite teachers though!! Makes ckass fun:)
Very good teacher. The best I have ever had. He is really good at teaching the material and is extremely funny. He really knows his stuff and is very good at making you understand it. He does give essay tests only. No homework, quizzes, etc. I personally hate essay tests but his were easy IF you studied. I would highly recommend him!!!
Great Professor, real person no high horse mentality. By far my best Professor at palomar. By no means an easy A you will be required to know and apply information.
Great teacher. He explains everything well. It is very important that you take great notes and must attend all classes.
Good teacher. Not an easy A since the tests are essay format and he requires a lot for his 'A students'. If you study and memorize the material you will do well b/c he gives you EVERY question that will be on the test, NO suprises. You must attend class to do well on the exams. He is an interesting and funny guy too.
Too awesome for words. He's super funny and uses great entertaining stories as examples and they really help you remember on the test. Got to do a bit of reading. If you don't like a grade on the test and talk to him about why you should've gotten higher, he'll usually change it. Awesom.
Great professor! Likes to keep his students entertained while being able to stay on track. Not an easy A, but he will work with you if you are dedicated enough to pass that class. Attendance is crucial, as he teaches some things not found in the book. One of Palomar's best professors.
Pretty easy going guy. Hard to get an A. He's pretty clear on what he expects. Exam are essay format. Tells stories a lot.
he is a really great teacher and guy. he's straight forward. i missed a few weeks, big mistake. don't miss thats the one thing he wont tolerate. he will fail you. you put up the effort you'll pass with at least a c. he'll work with you if you talk to him. all around amazing teacher. i was just a bad student
This guy is radical. He is funny as can be, he is very smart, and well, he is insane. His lectures are seriously all you need for the tests. He will lecture, you take your notes, and you almost always get out early. He doesn't do anything out of the book and gives only essay tests. Take him, you will love him. He is a challenge..but very fun.
Dr. Milstein is an honest man that will make you work for an A. Go to class, pay attention, and study at least a little. I had a high B no sweat. Funny and practical, what this man says can and will help you in your everyday life by understanding the human mind. Very accommodating to students who care about their grade.
Great teacher. If you want an A, you gotta work for it, but if you're just looking for a B, its way easy. He'll repeats a lot of stuff but he'll keep you laughing. Always talking about his "high profile students", ignore it.
Milstein is so funny! I got 100% on almost all of his tests. I didn't use the book once, and everything from the tests comes from his lecture. You watch videos some classes too. Easy A and lets you out early most of the time.
He is very funny, and knows his subject, BUT hard to get an A because he gives essay test and wants a big narrative. I didn't like the grading.
He is very funny, and knows his subject, BUT hard to get an A because he gives essay test, and the narrative has to be very accurate to his own words. I didn't like the grading.
fun and interesting class< But I didn't like the way he grades. He gives essay test hard to get an A.
Like the way he teaches, But I didn't like the way he grades. He gives essay test hard to get an A.
very interesting guy. not an easy A. go to every class there is. it's hard to catch up if you miss. only gives essay tests. no projects. just a lot of lecturing. he tells you EVERYTHING that will be on the test. before and after he explains it. very good teacher!!!
You need to be a great writer in order to get an A in this class. Even if you know the material, that isn?t enough for someone to get an A. (He will let you know). He is very interesting person, but can be very confusing in his lectures. He gets out of subject and lectures too fast. It?s frustrating hearing him say, ?To my A students?., to my B st
great professor.Teaches the material rapidly, but take notes, show up to class and write AT COLLEGE LEVEL, you'll be fine. Gives test prompts ahead of time so you can write them down and ask him how to improve them, because he does expect good writing. Very helpful if you dont understand material, but expects you to take initiative to get the help.
AMAZING teacher!!He really is an interseting guy and applies everything you learn in his class to your life. You hardly need to read the chapters, just know HIS vocab and you'll be fine for his essay exams.
Great teacher, extremely interesting, hardly uses the book so be sure to attend every class. All of his tests are essay format but he pretty much tells you all of the questions ahead of time. No homework, no projects
He tells you exactly what to do in order to get the grade your searching for. Very helpfull and entertaining to say the least.
Milstein is an amazing teacher. Learned so much and didn't have to pick up the book once. He is repetitive, meaning he drills the information into your head. There are only 4 exams and if you prepare you are bound to get an A. He is very clear on what he expects! TAKE HIM
This class changed my life! No joke! TAKE HIM! He is an awesome and funny teacher! I have come out of this class a different person. I understand myself so much better because of the way he taught the "Mind Diagram" :D
Awesome, Just take him. You won't regret it.
Great professor. Explains everything in a very manageable way. Hardly uses the book so you have to attend every class. He is a goofy and interesting guy, but he is good at what he does. Keeps the class fun and easy going. Tests are essay format so you have to remember everything, but he drills everything into your head.
Professor Milstein's class was pretty challenging for me. It is definitely not an easy A. If you aren't a very good writer you may struggle in getting an A or B. However if you just need a C, then his C plan is what you want to look out for. Attend class, take good notes. He knows what he's doing and tells you exactly what he expects.
If you have poor writing skills, you won't do well in this class. He repeats the material over and over so there's no reason not to get it. To get an A in the class is hard, but not that hard. One of the better teachers I've had.
If your trying to get an A in this class forget it. Hardest teacher of my life!!! can be funny at times but never amusing. You better be ready! Definally the hardest teacher at Pmar.
This is not the professor to take if you are looking into making psychology your major. He does not go over the material as extensively as other professors. I wish I had known this prior to taking the course. He has 3 exams, all essay based but he goes over the material repeatedly and tells you exactly what he's looking for. I'd say an easy B.
He's a stand up guy, from Detroit. We were solely graded on written exams. Lectures are easy to attend due to his excitement of psychology, plus he is extremely clear on each topic as well as what he expects on exams word for word. He can also be pretty comical at times. "you can take the boy outta detriot, but you cant take detroit outta the boy."
This guy is very condescending, to the point where he thinks he is better than you. The quality of the course is very good, but it is difficult to get the A because he demands so much on the essays with little time. Frequently demoralizes the class. Won't let you forget you are at a community college and he went to a UC school. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!.
Don't miss any classes! The entire semester is only 3 tests and every topic has extensive notes. Definitely NOT boring and hes a very lively instructor that gives you what you need for a solid B.
In order to get an A you have to do alot of your own work in the book and have really good writing skills. Although he sometimes seems condescending, hes helpful if you need clarity.
Extremely energetic. He is good about repeating information(sometimes excessively.) He often jumps around a lot because he is so enthusiastic, and tends to go on long tangents. His class is entirely based on writing skills & use of specific words. Frequently refers to text book examples in class--highly recommend knowing the examples for the test.
What a great guy! super funny and intelligent, kept my interest and motivated me throughout the whole class. The class itself was challenging, it being graded by three essay tests. fun and challenging
Overall a great teacher. Easy to get a C in the class but extremely hard to earn a A. Grades only 3 Exams and that it. No homework is involved in this class.
Such an awesome guy, with so much more to give than just learning the material. Tests are essay style, pretty much gives you the answers during review, grades hard on language and verbage. He takes it a step further than most JC professors in hopes to prepare you for the next level. Awesome class highly reccomend taking him. He will pass anyone.
Had his class a couple semesters ago. Very easy class if you're willing to put in the effort to study. He really gives you everything you need to know IN CLASS, so don't miss any if you can help it, and if you do ASK for help. Tends to go on tangents, which disrupts the overall flow of the classroom, but the info you learn, you won't forget.
This guy is AMAZING. My fiance took his class and I happened to go to class with him one day and Milstein remembered me despite me already moving on to UCSD and having been about 2 years. He definitely prepares for the university level and does so ALL IN CLASS so GO TO CLASS or get out of COLLEGE!! NO SLACKERS and you'll get your A.
Reviews are pretty spot on. He is an awesome teacher but makes it difficult to get an A. Getting a B or C is pretty easy, however - just depends on your writing skills. If you are a decent writer definitely take him. He skips past boring anatomy/memorization and teaches you how to apply psychology to everyday life instead. Super interesting class.
Do not take this professor if you want to get an A but if you only need a C this is the class for you. All of the tests are in narrativeessay format and are graded on your knowledge of the content and your writing skills which does not seem to be fair since it's not a writing class and he does not teach us the proper writing skills to get an A.
Lou tend to ramble a lot and over explain things like the difficulty of the class and his expectations. He grades the tests very harshly and I didn't learn much in his class besides over working and studying on the study guides before exams and memorizing terms. I would not recommend this class to someone who hates reading and extensive lectures..
By far one of my favorite Professors of all time!
Our tests are short answers based on your writing ability. I did not realize I signed up for English. He goes off on long tangents that have nothing to do with the class. This also makes it hard to take notes in class. He bounces around a lot in the book also. If you are covering a chapter be sure to check 10 chapters ahead to understand him.
MUST come to class top succeed. Something is always presented in class that is NOT in the textbook but IS on the exam. The 'basics' will get you a "C". but to receive an "A" from this professor, you need the requisite writing skills (at the true college level) since ALL exams are short answer/essay format ; you can't 'bluff' your way to get an "A".
Worst professor I've ever had. There are 3 essay tests all out of 100 points, and that's your whole grade. Don't take him unless you are 1000% dedicated, and love long lectures that constantly go off topic.
If you are looking to get an "A" , you MUST come to class, read the textbook and have good essay writing skills. you are graded on essay exams only. Fairly easy to get a "C" in the class. He's VERY high energy .If you like to write essay tests and not just memorize he will work for you.
He and the syllabus are totally upfront as to what the class is all about. I'm now basically locked in to getting a "C" in a class I wanted to do better. I missed some classes, didn't study that much and don't have the writing skills for an "A". He makes it easy to pass, but to get an "A", you MUST come to class, and have good writing skills.
Would recommend this teacher to anyone who wonders what it would be like if Al Pacino taught a class. Dude is hilarious and entertaining. Provides all the questions to study for a week prior to exam. Easy A if you pay attention during the class. Didn't use the book once.
This was one of my hardest classes but it's easy if you pay attention and work for it. If you just want a C in the class then you're good, but if you want an A, you'll need "esoteric grammar," as he says, and study like your life depends on it. His tests are ALL essay questions, but he never asks a question that he never discussed in class.
This class is not an "easy A", but it is easy to get a C. If you want an A you would have to use the textbook and watch the films that go along with the lessons. I recommend you don't skip a class because you end up missing a bunch of information that is required for the exams. Great teacher, I would recommend him to anyone.
He's clear about his grading criteria. VERY easy to get a "C" . You need to be very smart to get an "A". Prof. Milstein will give you all the questions prior to the exam. The trick is you need to listen and take notes (a lot of notes) to all of his lectures . I also did some research. He's funny and I respect him a lot.
He's definitely a character. You'll never have a professor like him. He definitely teaches you about the real world. He doesn't grade his papers heavy but the exams are a bit tougher. You need to use specific words to get full credit on exams. Doesn't take attendance but be there the day before tests for a study day. One of the best professors!
This professor is great! He grades easy and doesn't require attendance. It's incredibly easy to get a C/B but hard to get an A. He can be demeaning to students who are confused by the material and his humor can be crude sometimes so if you are easily bothered, this class ain't for you. But He does a copious review before every exam!
Excels at covering the material well and giving good test reviews, but grades based on only three exams. It's difficult to get an "A", but not impossible. You must have "academic esoteric verbage" - his exact words. Be sure to study hard and take lots of notes.
He is a great professor! Tells you exactly what's going to be on the test! Has many funny jokes and stories about life in Detroit! Class is based all on your ability to comprehend and incorporate high archaic diction into narratives on test. I received an easy A in the class and over 98 on every test.
You need a higher level of writing ability coming into the class to get an "A" because the exams are essay; and writing ability is graded!, but it's an 'easy C" as he reviews before the exams question by question. He's high energy, somewhat crude and funny, and never boring. He cares and makes it uncomfortable for students who don't really care.
Difficult A, moderate B, easy C. Your grade is based entirely on essay exams, so you have to write in-depth answers to each question (spelling, vocabulary and grammar are all important in the difference between an A and a B). Take extensive notes during lectures, videos and from the textbook pages he tells you to read.
Holds dual doctorates but he's not pretentious about it. an outstanding lecturer and breaks it down with analogies and anecdotes for your understanding. He teaches everything at the basic level, It is up to you to read and do research if you aspire for an A. You must have decent writing skills and verbage for his tests that are entirely essay form
This guy has me cracking up every class-very high energy and entertaining. Simple class format with entire grade based off 3 exams. He tells you every class pretty much exactly what you need to write to get an A on his tests so as long as you go to class, take good notes and use verbiage from the book/ online videos he posts you will be fine.
He's a great teacher and super smart. He doesn't use the textbook in his lectures but he requires it to get an A in the class. Easy class to get a C in, but very hard to get an A.
Based off of 3 exams, very difficult to get an A, getting a B is very manageable and it is extremely easy to get a C. Hilarious dude that will have you cracking up doesn't use much textbook unless you want an A. Gives all the material needed to pass the class, but to get beyond a C you need to posses the requisite writing skills for the 3 exams.
I enjoyed this teacher. He's different in a sense that he doesn't use the book as much he tells you what you need to know and if you attend class and write the stuff down you'll do great. He tells you what he looks for in the exams if you're not there then you miss out in the info. He's very energetic and very straightforward.
If you can keep up with him he offers asll the information needed to pass exams. He will repeat info. Again when asked and is clear what's on tests
The class is 3 tests (all essay questions) and lectures in which he gives all the information you need. It's vital that you don't miss any lectures. Bs and Cs are easy, but As requires more work and reading the textbook. He's an interesting character and takes a bit of getting used to, but by the end of the course I enjoyed the class overall.
This teacher is funny and enjoyable, and very knowledgeable about the subject. There are three essay tests. It's very easy to get a C in this class because he will literally outline the test in class. It's hard to get an A because he expects high-quality answers. If you get below a C on the first exam he will NOT WANT YOU TO STAY. JUST DROP!!!!!!!
He knows what he is talking about! He presents the material very well, they contain a lot of info that will be on the exam. He might seem like he is tough but he really isn't. No Homework! he provides the questions and answer for each exam. I would definitely recommend him if you have a passion for psych.
This is definitely one of the if you skip class, you probably won't pass. Although many students in my class disliked him due to long lectures and our grade being based off of 3 tests (written tests no MC), I enjoyed it. He was a very fun and engaging professor who always looked over my writing and told me what I could do better.
Dr. Milstein is probably the most interesting person I've ever met. He's hilarious and makes class very interesting. Very easy to stay engaged when he's lecturing. Very clear grading material, a C requires a little effort but getting an A in the class is quite challenging. The textbook only needed if going for A or B. I recommend not missing class
Dr. Milstein was intimidating at first, but I ended up loving his Psych 100 class. He has a clear structure for exams, and each lecture follows it. He makes work hard for an A, but a B and C grade are so easy to earn if you take rigorous notes and read the book outside of class. Lectures were energetic and entertaining. He cares about students.
Professor milstein definitely knows what he is talking about but consistently talked about the "C" student verses the "A" student and divided the class this way and gave lectures at the basic level expecting the student to do all the research on their own based off of the Zimbardo films and the textbook to earn an A its alot of hard work...
Doesnt teach much useful information and repeats the same info every class. Always talks about the A student but refuses to teach the class above the C level. He gives no feedback on how to improve. So you are essentially stuck with the same grade on every test. Only gives out very few A's in order to "Protect his families money". Wouldnt recommend
Get ready to teach yourself and have a very hard time focusing if you sit in the front of the class. He talked about the same thing for the first 5 weeks. Get ready to be called a C student a lot, and if you're looking for an A, GOOD LUCK. Get a study group with ppl in your class! Only way to pass. Waist of money, you won't learn much tbh.
I wasn't sure if I was going to do well in his class since the only thing he grades are three, 100 point ESSAY tests. (There is no homework, unless you count reading the textbook) If you want to get an 'A' in the class, it's difficult unless you know the proper psychology verbiage. If you only need a B it is totally doable, and he will help you out
Difficult to rate because the class went completely online in March. Very good when it was a face to face class. When the class went online it went 'mechanical' with online essay exams. Easy to pass the class, but didn't really translate well to online teaching as much of the material when in class was his own. Went textbook only when online.
The exams (3) are written in essay format, based on lecture material. Make sure you attend ALL lectures, or you will miss out on the info. Study the material before/after class and on the day of exams or during class review and you'll get at least a C. He's known for being the easiest grader in the PSYCH department, but earning an A is difficult.
I didn't think that I could hate learning psychology. This class is graded on 4 exams that consist of essays. You must have some type of background in the sciences to get an A on your own in this class. If I could teach myself by simply reading a textbook I would. This class needs more interactive material and more learning aids.
Easy C if you read online lectures and watch videos. Difficult A because you have to not only read the textbook but understand be able to write about science in online essay exams. Professor will immediately answer emails and even talk on the phone if need be. Would recommend if you only need to pass. You better like science if you want an A.
This class for me was online bc of Covid-19. He's kinda interesting and I was annoyed with the way he constantly mentioned using "academic esoteric verbiage" His lectures are straightforward and has all the answers for the 4 exams which are essay based. Very frustrating trying to get an A because he wants you to add more scientific detail on exams
By far the worst professor I have ever had and quite possibly the most insane person I've ever met. You'll be self taught as he goes on entire tangents about various unrelated topics. No filter at all and says many offensive and disgusting things. Always pushes for the 'A student' ideal but doesn't describe how to get there. Run.
Professor Milstein was ok. He talked a lot about the 'A' student vs. the 'C' student. I don't think it was effective though. Only homework is to read/study outside of class if you choose. I recommend it if you want any chance of doing ok on the exams. Also, if you miss an exam it's an automatic drop, so beware. This happened to my friend.
If you are only looking to pass with a 'C', he's the best possible option. If looking for an 'A' you MUST come into the class with the academic writing skills at the 'a' level. you would need to incorporate the material in the textbook, lectures and films to achieve the 'A' grade. He uses real life experiences to apply the material.
Actually, not that hard to get a B. To get an A , You have to have textbook and Zimbardo film knowledge AND excellent writing skills. Lectures are energetic, with real life examples, sometimes 'crude' but to the point. Graded on 4 essay exams. Know the posted review material and you will pass. If you need an A and don't write well, don't take.
Prof Milstein was a great professor and super knowledgeable. I got an A and I am a foreign student. He has 4 essay tests in the semester. You just need to study hard and prepare and you will be okay. He tries to scare everyone by putting an emphasis on how hard it is to get an A but if you show up, take notes and study you are more than fine!
I had taken his class over the fall. Professor Milstein is a crazy dude. And always talks about himself. He always talks about the "A" student and it gets on everyone's nerves. The testing part consists of 4 exams. Homework wise he doesn't give homework at all. I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone. #wasteoftime #lunatic #selfish
If you are looking to pass a class unrelated to your major, Louis Milstein is your man. He will do everything in his power to ensure you get to where you need to go. Incredibly talented in his field and compassionate to his students. Getting an A in his class is not impossible, but be ready for a challenge. Must apply yourself and participate.
Needed a C, got a C! Had to ignore when he talked 'way over my head' when discussing the science for the 'A' students. VERY easy to get a C in the class if you just know the basics and come to class and know the reviewed material (online and in class). He teaches with energy and answers emails promptly.
Funny professor easy to get a C and easy too to get a B to get an A you need to understand and write in a high level, NOT homework,VERY energetic and unique style to teach, Always answer emails, available after class, not extra credit. 4 Exams in total and NO homework.
I took Mr.Milstein's psychology class last semester, he quickly became my favorite professor! Gave great lectures that were knowledge packed and included everything that would be on the test, and went over test questions the class period before the exam. He made a lot of jokes and did little dances to entertain us. No homework, just studying.
It is essential attendance to class to know what he will ask in the exams since there is no homework or quizzes. His lectures are hilarious, and I loved his teaching bc it was more to get learning for real life than for exams. I didn't like the first weeks-very repetitive. Also, it was hard to follow and understand his dynamic of class and grading.
Professor Milstein is an extremely seasoned teacher who teaches with much spunk! His course was challenging but as long as you take the time to understand the scientific concepts and read the text book, it's not hard to pass this class. He was also hysterical and very understanding of when students needed extra support.
Truthfully one of the worst professors I've ever had. Although, he is honest about how he is. When someone tells you who they are believe them. Take a hint and DO NOT TAKE THE CLASS. He is entertaining on a good day but on most days he yells a lot and can be confusing. Don't be fooled and if you do take his class be warned.
Professor Milstein was one of the best professors I've met. He's very energetic (which helped keep me awake) and will keep you on your toes. Attendance isn't mandatory but he LITERALLY gives you the answers to each exam during class.. Just actually take notes and either memorize them or take the open note exam he offers. Pretty easy to get a B...
His classes are extremely hilarious however when it comes to the academe you have to be clear with your path so he can be able to fully help you. He is also clear with how he grades his students; he bases it on the three to four exams, and there are no quizzes and homework which is helpful working students.
Professor Milstein is great, class is fun and the lectures are engaging. If you work hard for your grade it will show, he gives your the questions for the 3 test, 4th on is optional and will go over it a week ahead .If you need help emailing or asking in class he will answer immediately. He doesn't like to "FAIL STUDENT", he will help anyway he can.
Very enjoyable, could have been the subject matter, but this class did genuinely change how I think, at least the class I took, grading was if you want a B or C, it is by all means the best class you could have taken, but for a A you had to prove yourself, so very good 10/10.
Professor Milstein has a unique, energetic teaching style. While exams are essay-based and require solid preparation, unstuck AI was a game-changer for me. Overall, an engaging class if you're willing to put in the work.
Hard to rate as he is an 'easy C' but very difficult to get an 'A'. He gives essay tests so to get an 'A' you have to know how to write at the college level and understand the science (chemistry) and how it applies per the textbook as well as knowing the subject matter. Energetic lectures as he applies the material to real life situations.
An interesting professor. A walking contradiction at times. If you have past experience with psychology, just throw that all out. You are basically working with Milstein's psychology. To get an A, you have to really be into biology. If you're very neutral with politics, he can be amusing, but he definitely ruffled a lot of feathers.
Took a break from school & have never been the best student, somehow I was the only person with a B! Seriously the best person ever I was so heart broken I wasn't gonna see him again. If You just need a passing “C” grade it's literally given to you, he's very clear on what he's looking for but if you want an A you really need to do your big one
If you're looking to get an"A" in this class to be competitive in medical programs run away.Students who get an"A" have a heavy background in BIO/CHEM and have a superior vocabulary and advanced writing abilities. If you are new to college I would not recommend taking this course. He talks about it being an easy "C" I would not risk my grade/future.
I absolutely admired Mr. Milstein! If you aspire to a career in the healthcare field, this is the class to take. I received an A in this class, and if that is a grade you are aiming for, I recommend taking a chem/bio class first to have a basis in the science background. Truly, I wish I could take this class again; it was one of my favorites.
He made it seem like getting a higher grade was unattainable for most of the class which I thought was rather condescending. I believe if he didn't make the idea of getting an "A" seem impossible, then more students could have tried and excelled. Memorizing info from his announcements helped a lot. If you really apply yourself you can do well!
