I used to have her in HS, and she is still the best teacher I've ever had. An asset to any university. I'm jealous of all current students. She was clear and inspirational, while challenging and questioning everything.

I had her for 105, and I love her! She loves her job, and she makes it enjoyable for others. She does challenge your thoughts, causing you to take an epistimological leap and look at things with a hermaneutic of suspicion! :)

She is extremely fun, interesting, and approachable. Her attendence policy is not strict, but if you miss class, get the notes because almost every single test question comes from stuff she says in class. Take her class! :)

she's really nice and funny her lectures are interesting but you must take good notes in this class, and sometimes she includes material on the test that hasn't been made very clear in class

She is one of the best professors on campus. 3 Tests and 2 Papers make up the grade. Tests come from lecture, so make sure you pay attention. TAKE HER and you will develop and appreciation for the academic study of religion :)

very awesome lady! comes off rather harsh in the begininng (all she talks about is feminism)but she gets much better. interesting and lively, enjoys what she is teaching.

I love Doire. She is funa dn energetic... and she has milk and cookie days! She's not super easy, but if you come to class and pay attention it shouldn't be a problem. She is definately worth taking

Professor Doire is the BEST Rel.stud.prof. at CofC! She's the ONLY one who teaches how to critically analyze androcentric texts using a Feminist Hermeneutic of Suspicion. Doire continues to be my inspiration to push through the androcentric odiferous mound of patriarchal crap of religious texts.

Her clothes are cute and interesting, but not enough to keep your attention. She expects a student to already be familiar with too much information. The students that did well in her class had already had her in other subjects and they were religion majors.

She is the best professor at CofC! She pulls you into her lectures because she is so passionate about what she is teaching. She has changed my opinion of what a professor should be. If you get the chance, take as many classes as you can with her. She will open your eyes.

Doire is one of the best professors on campus. Take notes in class and read and you will be fine. Very invigorating, thought provoking, and she will do anything to help. Great stories, funny, can be a little scattered at times, but is very good.

I have taken every class offered by Louise, and they are all terrific. Although I know not everyone will agree she is probably one of the most caring teachers on campus. She is always there to help or just to talk. Loved having coffee with her on random days and miss seeing and talking to her as much as I used to. Prof. Doire is the best there is.

Wonderful, wonderful professor! Doire is an excellent speaker, tells great stories and makes all material interesting. Grade consists of tests, response papers, and one research paper. We're lucky to have someone like Doire teaching at the College!

Professor Doire is the best professor I have ever had. If you show up for classes the tests are not too hard. There is the perfect amount of out of class work. Not too much, but just enough to make you think. Doire is compassionate, caring, helpful, and wonderful. Her classes will change your life and the way you think.

Really cool professor--her lectures are always interesting (she's very animated and passionate), the workload is relatively light, and if you go to class, then you'll do well on the exams.

I started out this course being offended by the things she said, now at the end my life has changed. She is a great teacher and makes you think about things that have been taught as truth your whole life. Life changing professor. Easy on the eyes too.

You don't have to read the book. Class isn't as interesting as some claim. She's a big feminist and tends to base the class around it. 4 one page reflections, 1 paper and 3 multiple choice tests. No final, strict attendance policy.

interesting subject matter. shes amazing to listen to. dont take if you get easily offended about religigous views. have an open mind. critical reflections are really easy. the take home questions are easy...the tests are sometimes tricky. take really good notes...like everything she says...she seems to throw in words that she only says once

THIS PROFESSOR SHOULD BE A PART OF THE CORE REQUIREMENTS. You will be a more complete person for taking this class!

If you are a feminist...you'll enjoy this class. If not- then suck it up and get ready to hear a lot about it. This class isn't too bad overall. No homework and you DO NOT NEED THE BOOK! Show up to class everyday and take very detailed notes. Grade is based on 3 tests and 4 papers. Final is not cumulative

I'm a senior and have taken many of the classes she offers and she is by far my favorite professor at the college. She loves what she does and because of that class is enjoyable. The only downfall is that the material is similar (if not identical) for each class she teaches. She's definitely worth taking!!

Louise Doire is the reason I became a religious studies major. I recommend her classes to everyone I come across at the College of Charleston. If you have an open mind and are not easily offended this is the class for you. It's not overly easy but she is so understanding if you have any troubles at all.

Loved this class. Wish I had more time to take another class with Doire.

Professor Doire is a true scholar and a wonderful person. She opened a new world to me and taught me so much. I wish I could fit in another RELS class just to soak up a fraction of her knowledge. Take her class and be prepared to get your mind blown.

This course was so mind blowing that it should be a requirement before you leave college. It was extremely interesting and examined everything in such an insightful way!! Be prepared for an extreme evaluation of self after this class...Doire is a wonderfully helpful teacher and possibly the wisest person I have ever met.

What can I say? I've got a crush. She is the most influential teacher I've had in school thus far. She is smart, funny, and original. How could you not take her?

I had little interest in taking this class before her. However, Doires passion for this class really got me interested and I took a lot away from this course. Wonderful teacher and woman as well. Can be intimidating at first but you will end up loving her

I love this woman! So insightful and a great professor! This class completely changed my life. Everyone should take one of her classes. It will change your perspective. Papers are written on interesting topics. Tests can be difficult if you don't take notes. TAKE PROFESSOR DOIRE!!!

Took her evil and suffering class this semester. She is definitely an incredibly smart, passionate woman. The class makes you question a lot of your beliefs, and she gets into "feminist" tangents quite often. Workload wasnt too bad. Would recommend this class mainly bc she really knows her stuff...and it really did open my mind and make me think.

Take all her courses. This woman changed my life.

Ive taken many classes with professor doire and i must say that she is my favorite teacher at the college. always helpful, easy to reach, she cares about her students (Which is comforting and rare in college). She doesnt want you to see things her way, and welcomes all arguements/criticisms (As long as they are informed) in regards to feminism etc

Doire is a great lady who cares about her students and is really easy to get in touch with. The class is kind of difficult, because there are not supplementary materials (powerpoints, etc). The papers really will help to boost your grade, but the tests are pretty difficult. You need to be in class, that's the only way to get some sort of notes.

Absolutely amazing professor who will challenge your views on life and religion. Her passion is obvious and draws you in to the subject. Great sense of humor if you aren't easily offended and actually have a sense of humor yourself. She is my favorite prof on campus and I have never looked forward to a class each day like hers. A TRULY BRILLIANT lady. Extremely passionate about what she does and does not hesitate to help her students out. Really makes you think, go into the class with an open mind and eliminate any bias you may hold,and you will do fine. Just wish i didn't take her so late in my college career or i would have been a religion major!

Doire is a great professor! She loves what she does and she is very inspiring. She does go off on random tangents though that make notes sometimes hard to understand, but its humorous listening to her during these moments. Has a great sense of humor and never calls anyone out. Tests are difficult, but she's very sweet.

Nice, easy-going professor. Is very opinionated and claims to be open to yours, but isn't. Grades fairly, lots of opportunities to make a good grade! Helpful, but taking her class really challenges your own beliefs. She can be pretty radical at times. Lots of short papers and reflection notecards on readings and 1 term paper. I would recommend her.

If you're looking for an easy A, take this class. 4 tests that are real easy and 4 2 page reflection papers. She is a complete joke though. Long feminist tangents are a large part of every class. Had many students say that they no longer believed in Christianity at the end of the semester. Horrible religion teacher.

I assume I was in the same class as the two people below me, and I must say they are so wrong about Doire. She offers open-ended discussion on the mythology and historical aspects of the world's religions. The role of women in religion is often discussed, but it is important to a well-rounded dialogue about different faiths. She's amazing!

She approaches religion in a different way and theme than any other professor. She pushes students to look passed God, and other higher beings and see the relative cultures and understanding of how a religion starts, and continues.if you're religious do not take the class. overall the class is pretty easy, def would recommend.

Professor Doire is one of the most approachable and understanding professors I have encountered. She is accepting of all ranges of opinions, and always has an interesting lecture. Her Comparative Religious Ethics class opened the eyes of each student in it for the better. Doire's classes are worth taking !

Doire is amazing. I've taken several classes with her, and will continue to take as many as I can. She genuinely loves the material she teaches, and she clearly finds great joy in being a professor. Take any class with her and you're in for an eye-opening experience!

She's a chill professor, and no major complaints, but as a Catholic, I constantly felt attacked in this class. I wouldn't recommend taking this class if you are very religious because she offers countless info discrediting Catholicism and some major Christian beliefs.

Nice teacher, not easy but not hard. She has 3 exams and 4 papers, hard tests but grades really easy on paper, can only miss 5 classes and her lectures make me want to fall asleep but I managed a B with minimal effort

Doire is very nice, helpful, and easy to communicate with. I had her for a women in religion course to fulfill a gen ed requirement. She likes discussion during classes, assigns readings, and lectures. I didn't find the course work hard (note: general religion course), but it was interesting.

Doire is an absolutely wonderful professor. This was my 2nd class with her, and I've already registered for a 3rd. At first she can seem intimidating, but she's super sweet & helpful. Actually treats each religion the exact same (which is hard to do). TAKE HER. Easy papers & tests are easy if you study. Practically no work in class besides that!

Very passionate professor who really knows her stuff. You have a few papers and tests, but that's it! The papers aren't too bad, but the tests can be rather challenging. Definitely try taking her!

This lady is one of the smartest I've met. Her classes help you consider not only the answers to questions, but open your mind to a hundred new questions.

She loves what she teaches and she is great at teaching in a Socratic type class environment but whenever she did lecture they were AWFUL! So boring and not very well put together. So, don't take her if it is a lecture style class but definitely take her if it is Socratic. (Plus you get to learn about cool unpopular religions like Voodoo)

A great teach really knows what she is talking about. One of my favorite teacher. She is very funny. You only have 3 exams and 3 papers. I would highly recommend taking her classes she is great and wonderful. Hilarious!

She's pretty rad. She made me see religion differently. She was a little unorganized but the material we learned was kind of all over the place too. She also missed a lot of classes. The lectures were mostly her rambling about interesting topics and her life experiences. Would take again.

Professor Doire is the best professor I've had. She's no easy A, but her tests are fair and if you study you will succeed. Super feminist, super opinionated- so if you can't handle that don't take her. Harvard grad genius who will readily call an entire religion out on their BS. Trying to find ways to take her again.

fun lectures, easy grader, accessible outside of classroom.

If you consider yourself religious and take a Doire class, be prepared to have your beliefs tested but in a good way. She makes you really dig deep into what you believe by providing a non biased view of religion. I started out super offended by her but by the end of my college career, I had taken many Doire classes and it made my faith stronger.

Doire is a good professor, be prepared to read a good bit though. Class Discussions are always helpful if you don't understand some of the reading. Her tests are also based solely off of class discussion, lectures, and the reading - tests are pretty easy.

Doire is one of the best professors I've had here at Cofc. She cares for all of her students and is willing to help you as much as she can. Many opportunities for extra credit, creative/interesting lectures.

This woman changed my entire life. She is so incredible and inspirational. I have taken two classes with her and would take more if I could. As a woman, she makes you feel so empowered! I took her woman and religion class and it absolutely changed my life.

Amazing woman. First assignment is a get to know you paper which is graded by participation so that should tell you how little of a burden this class is. Really enjoy going to class and listening to prof Doire talk, deffinitely take her! Study guides are super clear and to the point, no surprises. Take this class.

Professor Doire is amazing. By far the best professor I have had at this college. The course is straightforward. She gives the whole class extensions when she feels as though we might need more time for very FUN essay assignments. She is so genuine and eccentric.

She makes stuff relatable & easy to understand. She's all around cool & super chill. She's passionate about what she teaches but she doesn't shove it down your throat. The tests are hard but it's literally just what she says in lecture & no other stuff to learn on your own & she gives study guides with everything you need to know. Love her!

Professor Doire is a great teacher, her classes were interesting and at the end of the semester she informed our class that if any work hadn't been turned in to send it to her prior to the final. I sent her my late papers and she graded them indifferently, despite being late. Her lectures are great and she shares cool life stories. Highly recommend

Professor Doire is an angel of a women. I took her for intro to women and gender studies and sought out a class she was teaching next semester just so I could take her again. Her lectures are very informative, but not boring. Exam questions are taken from lecture and readings but everything is gone over well beforehand.

Exams are simple and if you understand and paid attention to stuff spoke about in lecture, you are good to go. Papers are simple as well and require an individual to become creative and think academically

class is super easy. all assignments are pretty much based on your own opinion. tests are easy if you look over material on OAKs. attendance matters but you dont have to participate or even pay attention in class to pass.

Professor Doire is an absolute must. If you have the opportunity to take her in any class, go ahead and sign up. She is so intelligent and such a great professor. Every lecture was so interesting. Her tests are verbatim from her lectures, so don't skip class, but truthfully you won't want to miss a class from her.

Prof. Doire is an absolute gem of a teacher and you would be lucky to get the opportunity to take one of her classes. The best humanities I can recommend. There are tests and essays none are which are very difficult and really reinforce the learning. The tests also come with a very thorough study guide and there is no homework! Love her!

Absolutely brilliant. She really knows what she is talking about, which is a refreshing change from my usual experience at C of C. I will say that if you're super religious you might not be able to appreciate her genius, but she teaches how important it is to understand all of the world's religions without discriminating against your faith.
