Dr. Vaughan is a reasonable professor that adjusts the course to the performance of the whole class. He allowed us to use notes and drop an exam after many performed poorly.
Always late to class and got confused easily
Probably the worse teacher I've ever had. AS if he intentionally made the class hard. I know it's not me as after dropping I got dual B's in pre-cal and cal.
I dropped his class b/c it was so hard. Just about everyone that I talked to that had him, dropped his class too.
HARD HARD HARD!
If you fail this class you are retarded.
Do not take him you will regret it, i took him and dropped the class
pretty hard, once again, another teacher that is too smart for such early courses. He is a nice guy and really knows his stuff. Although he does get ahead a the class and doesnt realize that we arent as smart as him yet!
AWFUL. the material is easy but the class is terrible and he shouldnt be teaching it
TERRIBLE! He makes his class very hard and does not explain things well. There might as well be a robot in the class teaching instead of him. It might be more entertaining then.
HOLY CRAP!!! DO NOT EVER TAKE THIS TEACHER! HE IS HARD AS HELL! THE THINGS HE GOES OVER IN CLASS IS EASY BUT HIS TEST ARE TOTALLY DIFFERENT! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!
I took Calculus 2 and it was easier than this guys MA102 class. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT take ANY math class with him.
This man is the Worstest(if the word exist)teacher the math profession ever saw. His class material is easu to follow. But his exams will make u**** and ****on yourself. Please take it from me do not take him. Pleeeaaaaaaaaase do not take him u will fail
Anyone could probably teach that class better than him! I got an A in that class b/c I had most of the material before, but as far as getting any comprehensible, intellectual help from him it was a lost cause. Do yourself a favor and don't his class!
By far the hardest teacher I have ever had. Do what ever possible to not take his class or you will fail hard. CAPA sucks!
UGHHHHH!!!!! This was the worst class I've ever had. The first test on basic stuff we learned in 9th grade every single person failed because he CAN'T TEACH. I've known math majors who changed their major after taking his class.
He knows what he is doing and teaches well but his test are crazy and the way he grades is ridiculous! It's awful..you will fail..DO NOT TAKE HIM!!
Run while you can! This guy can't teach worth anything! You'll be wasting your TIME and MONEY and most likely end up with some made up grade because he can't grade. Seems like most of the math dep't is like this. oh yea and CAPA is usually wrong so...
Do not take any of his classes. His tests are the stupid. He tells you one thing and expects you to do another on a test. HE doesnt knoow how to do it and expects you to. He is very confusing. Take it from me, DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!
He is a very nice man and fairly good looking however everything on this site about him is true. His classes are very informative but his tests really so not relate to the material he covers. DOn't take
Don't take him
He talks to you like you are stupid if you ask a ques. Do not take him...his tests are sooo HARD!!!Take it from me we started off witha class of more than 30 and are now to a class of less than 15....GOOD LUCK!!!
Not a good teacher, not clear, goes through material fast. I was happy with my C and normally I would NOT be
This class is extremely hard and he has a very small pass rate. The test are impossible and make no sence. He teaches different then the book teaches.
Horrible teacher! I was taking this class as a filler since I had already had Calculus! Wow was I ever happy with my B. Make sure you attempt the bonus..."it's required" as he told me when I got it marked wrong. His tests are ridiculous and he should not be a teacher!
If you accually payed attention in high school you can do ok in this class. Most of the people complaining probably took the class for granted. He is hard, and you will have to do work. But if you do you will not have trouble in future math classes. Dont take him if you want an easy A,
At first, he was hard....especially tests. But, towards the end of the semester he tried so hard to help us increase our grades. I thought I had a horrible grade in there but it turns out i got a B. Good luck, take my advice....don't take him!
I felt that this class was not worth the effort. Dr. Vaughan was very unhelpful, he never answered email or offered help from his office. He gave the impression that teaching anything below differential equations (which he does teach!) was beneath him. Don't waste your money on this guy.
The most ridiculously hard class I have ever taken. The problems he assigns in class and for homework are easy but the ones on the test are 10x harder. If you go to him for help, he talks to you like your a moron. What an ass. Avoid this guy at all costs!
Okay, Dr. Vaughan's class is horrible. I am failing with flying colors! Lol This is not funny. Like everyone has said, his boardwork and hw is easy but his tests are like completely different! I mean he is a nice man i am sure but he teaches at a graduate level.I am just a freshman and i hate math
Can we say spawn of the DEVIL!!!! His class is the worst I've ever taken. I have know people who were math majors and after taking his class changed their major. If you really want to meet satan take him. Other wise stear clear of him at all costs.
He is the hardest professor I have ever had, mostly because he goes way to fast when explaining the concepts. I have never made anything but A's in my math classes. If you struggle with math AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS, even if you're good with math you probably still want to AVOID HIM.
Not a great teacher at all. He expects you to know already how to do everything and just goes over the highlights of each section. The grades at the end of the semester should say all. Almost all of his students fail the class. hmmm make you wonder.
He's probably the worst teacher I've ever come across! DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! Some how he makes easy material really really really hard! I failed him and then took a different teacher and made an A. Good luck if you take him.
Okay, i said before that Dr. Vaughan was horribly hard, but SOMEHOW i passed with a C. I failed all his tests with F's and made a B on my midterm. Made a D on the final but passed it! Just try to avoid him, but WORK VERY VERY VERY VERY HARD! GOOD LUCK AND ONT BE A FOOL, U HAVE BEEN FORWARNED
This class is very difficult. If you struggle with math like I do, then you don't want to take it. I made As on two tests - the midterm and the final, which are made out by the math department and not by him. His tests are very hard, and I think the highest grade I made on one was a C. He makes easy concepts seem extremely difficult.
As everyone else has said... he is HARD! DO NOT TAKE HIM whether or not you can avoid him do not take him! I was always good in math and I failed his class! I retook it and made an A!
I took him my first semester and wished that I had been warned. His tests never consisted of anything that he taught or in the book, it was like another language. I took his class and failed, and I had never made below an A in anything. I took the class with a different professor the next semester and passed with an "A"!
Don't even think about taking Dr. Vaughn's class. He is not interesting, doesn't explain things very well, and doesn't offer any make-ups.
Both classes are fairly easy, if you know math. Study old tests to do extremely well. They are basically the same, with different numbers. Works well with students outside class if help is needed. Tests represent material covered in class. Never looked at the booka nd made an A in both classes.
FREAKING SUCKS. I THOUGHT I KNEW EVERYTHING GOING INTO THE TEST AND FAILED MISERABLY. PEOPLE AROUND ME DID WORSE THAN I DID. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS
terrible. worst teacher ever. does not explain well. talks to the board. if you have him, change. will fail.
LOOK AT THIS LIST, he's got a record here!! He knows what he is doing however he expects everyone to be on his level. VERY HARD TESTS!!! Unless you want to be challenged to the hardest degree, stay away from vaughn!!! I failed about every test, but made an A on the midterm and final so I passed. LET ME REPEAT; I FAILED EVERY TEST, but made an A ON THE FINAL AND MIDTERM!

All the statments about Vaughan are true! his class is very hard! he is the worst teacher! I would advise one not to take him because he grades his test the way we wants to what i mean by that is you get an answer right in the test but diden't do it is way he will count it wrong even though it is right and you did it right out of the book it's true
Do not take this man! He seems to pride himself in "explaining" math in "technical terms" instead of making it easy for the student to understand. He often marks answers incorrect if the work is not done HIS way even though the answer is correct.
this guy sucks!!!! stay away!
Vaughn is not a bad teacher, he's just hard..there just isn't enough time in one day to complete what he has in mind for each of his students. The combination of the computer-based math (CAPA) and the homeowork will make you crazy and the test are very hard.
Dont Be stupid if you get the class and you dont do well on the first two tests drop the class because this class is GPA suicide.
Professor Vaughan is a confusing teacher but he is willing to help his students. I had a D test average and a B in CAPA. But I did awesome on the final and my grade rose to a B. So he does try to help his students. Those who hate him are just slackers that failed.
he is awful.
As long as you show up to class, show interest in the material, and do the homework he is a good teacher to have.
While, the math department at UAB is atrocious , Vaugh's class combined with CAPA is suicidal ,unless your willing to go above and beyond. In the end, He is just to smart to teach such low level classes. With such a high failure rate one can truly see why he's on academic probabtion. Maybe , such minds should stay in NASA where their more needed.
Mr. Vaughan is a very hard teacher. Unless you are really good at math DO NOT take his class.
STAY FAR FAR FAR FAR AWAY!!! THIS GUY IS ONE OF THE HARDEST AT UAB. DONT THINK YOU'LL LEARN SOMETHING BECAUSE HE'S DIFFICULT, BECAUSE YOU WON'T KNOW WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT.
Vaughan was not that hard. You only need a 75 to get a B and a 65 was a C.He is very helpful with Capa problems.Do as much Capa as you can and do well on your quizzes and you should pass.He does not really explain math,he just works out the problems. But they do help you figure out how to work some of the homework problems. He okay for a math teacher
He is probably great at math but is not so good at teaching others how to conquer the subject. He flies through concepts and just works out several problems. It would make more sense to explain everything more then leave us to the homework practice. He also sometimes forgets to tell us he postponed a quiz or test, both harmful and helpful.
He is the worst teacher ever. Your grade will suffer severely.
He knows the material very well, but should not be teaching. The tests he compiles are very difficult, it seems like he is trying to keep you from doing well. He is a "rigorous" GPA destroyer!
Do NOT take this teacher! He is incredibly hard and your grade will reflect what goes on in class.
Not a good helper. Knows his stuff but can't convey it to the students.
Vaughan's 102 class was pretty easy. The tests are almost completely like the study guide and I think he does a pretty good job explaining the material. He grades the tests pretty leniently(it wasn't all or nothing) and he always gives the tests back on time. I would recommend him.
Very difficult course. He is a great mathematitian but not a good instuctor. It was too much material to cover in the amount of time given. The quizes are surprises. Take the Russian gal, I heard about her too late.
His grading is unfair. Don't take him!
This guy has some serious math skills!! lol! He's an okay guy and if you do the review sets (hint hint) you'll do fine. remeber...REVIEW SETS!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!I took AP calculus in high school&I'm here on an academic scholarship&he still made this class impossible. He managed to make log problems hard. His grading is crazy. He once counted off 8 points just b/c I FORGOT my closing parathasis on the last problem on the test. The whole problem was only worth 10 points.
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!! HE IS THE SEXIEST MAN ALIVE!!!
This guy is simple...like a previous reviewer said...REVIEW SETS!!!!!!! Easy A if you can teach yourself from the book and follow his examples in class. He WILL take questions on homework in class.
I thought the quizzes where a lot harder than the test; although both are a TRUE reflection of the ilrn HW and the review sets. Your grade will simply reflect how much time you put into the class!
Professor Vaughn was very professional. Sometimes he was hard to understand.
Stay AWAY! He is a terrible "teacher" and actually confuses most people. Luckily there is a very helpful textbook accompanied with the course that you can read and the MLL dudes help ya out too. He requires attendance for points too. Seriously, I just rely on the MLL and book to get me by. Monotone voice and no help from him..
Awful.
Assigns work that isn't on tests; he announces "sporadic quizzes" and then never gives them, making you waste countless hours studying for no reason. Do yourself a huge favor and take this class with someone else.
It's not that hard to get an A in his class unless you do ilrn homeworks properly and pay attention in class.
Its an easy class if you do the iLrn and go to class and pay attention. He is very helpful. Quizzes and tests are just like iLrn assignments and problems he elaborates on from the textbook. Don't wait until the last minute to do the iLrn assignments.
Vaughan was very professional; I admire this in a professor because are either not professional, not on time, and not that willing to help you. Each time I asked for help from Vaughan, he always took the time to help me and explain the problem. I had to STUDY for this class. Use the homework sets and you'll do fine!! Believe me, I made an "A"!
Vaughan is a good teacher. He's clear and explains things very well. Do your online assignments and pay attention, and you'll do fine. I hate and suck at math, and I ended up with a B. If I can do it, anyone can!
I had to drop his class because in Trig you have to be told the little things, and he left them out. I'm a very smart kid. I made a 30 on my ACT, and I aced 105. This class was so bad that I've decided to bite the bullet and take Cal I. TAKE THIS CLASS WITH SOMEONE ELSE!!!!!!!
You cannot understand a thing the man says because you can't hear him for one thing. The homework does not prepare you for the tests nor quizes, which makes them very hard. I did not enjoy this math class whatsoever!
Show up to class, pay attention, take notes, and do the examples; you will have no problem.
great teacher! He is very clear and explains things extremely well!
He is very knowledgeable about the subject and would be great if u could take him more than once per week. If u struggle in math do not take him if its once a week. Too much info to learn in one session that he doesn't cover and u wind up teaching yourself every week. Not hard for those good in math but for those like me choose someone else.
Makes things much harder than they really are. Unless you are math genius, take someone else.
He is a good teacher, explains things well, and is open to questions. He will try to help you out as much as possible. He can explain concepts fairly easily and is very nice to talk to. I would definitely suggest him.
Horrible. Doesn't explain things very well. Not very helpful. Only math geeks would enjoy this guy. If you're taking math only because you're req to for core, don't take him.
He's very knowledgeable in the subject, he often doesn't finish all of the problems because he tends to go SUPER in depth on the first couple of problems, he always shows up to class 10-15 minutes late. He'll help you when you need help but he relys on the computer grades completely. Make sure you show up he gives points for attendance.
Teacher is very knowledgeable. book is not needed but you must do online homework. He is very fair in his grading and scales the grades. also gives alots of bonus on test. If final exam grade is higher then class average he will take that as your grade. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! i've taken the class twice before and he is the best teacher by far!
Just don't do it.
terrible teacher... had to teach myself the material but he will help you out by bonus points on test... i recommend only by his grading but not his teaching
Cant really understand him. He's not an easy preofessor to ask questions. He'll do the problem but wont explain the problem. If you ask him to explain something comes out of his mouth but not what you asked. Dont get hi if you dont have too!!
Extremely helpful in class. If you think he is not helpful, it is because you never did the homework and asked question in class. Each class, he takes questions from students and will work on it until everyone understands it (everyone who cares to participate, that is). Practice exams are online, and that is a big help. I highly recommend this prof
I thought he was a great teacher. He would always go over problems multiple times if needed. He didn't seem that approachable though.
Wow. If you cant teach yourself, do NOT take his class. Math's not my thing, but im not stupid. I took precal in Highschool and it wasn't so hard. This makes me feel stupid.
the problems he does in class are the examples in the book and he does them step by step just like in the book, it is such a waste of time to go to class. he is horrible at responding to emails as well. lots of work to you have to do online and half the time you run out of time bc your too busy trying to teach yourself the material. do not take him
Very knowledgeable and helpful Professor. He encourages you by giving you points just for attending class and lab. (up to 140 for our class) Willing to stay after class to help you with something you don't understand. I hope i can get him as an instructor for my next math course.
Goes through material fast, but will spend time reviewing old material if the class requests it. Uses up every minute of every class period
Great teacher, very clear, easy to talk to.
Good teacher just sometimes forgets that we don't pick it up quickly and can teach fast at times, not hard but not easy just a solid mid-range difficulty level, does course compass and everything is online, do get 5 points for coming to class so that is a big plus!
Very helpful but the material is very hard! Will help you as much as needed but the class goes very fast and it is hard to keep up with all the material to easy to get behind if you don't understand even a little bit of the material. Should really not have so much material for just one class or just take this one class by itself!
so fast, hard to keep up with and ask questions, not recommended
Great with scheduling one on one time. Always there when I need extra help.
Not a bad teacher, the lower math classes are really teach yourself anyway. He just does examples on the book. I slept in class everyday only came for the points. You can basically learn it alone with course compass. Come to class and you will do fine. Nice guy overall.
He is a really nice guy, he just goes really fast. All the work is online and was more helpful to me than the class meetings. Overall pretty easy class though. You have unlimited attempts at the homework and there are practice tests online. Just do the work and come to class and you can get an A!
Professor Vaughn is a great math professor. All of the material is online and the class is fast paced but every math class at UAB is that way. He really tries to make sure you understand the material. If you do the online homework and spend time trying to understand the material you will come out with an easy A.
Very nice man, wants everyone to do well and is always open to answer questions and clarify confusion. Class is mostly self-directed, need to do the work (and practice tests) to do well.
He may seem strict but he is really nice and will help you if you need it. I spoke with him a few times and he is very nice. I got headaches after every class and the load is large but if you work hard, you will do well.
Professor Vaughan is a fairly good math teacher. I had him for 105 and 106 and I definitely thought he taught 105 better. 106 is a much harder course and sometimes I got a little lost in his explanations. Do the examples and practice, practice, practice and you will do fine.
Really had no care for his teaching just went to class to get the points. I took the class not really worrying about who the teacher was. Never used the textbook. He does give back points on tests if you make silly mistakes. Was very good at answering questions if a student had them.
Very hard to follow in class. I only went for the participation points. He was bad at explaining things but generally a nice guy. I was 7 points away from an A when I took my final exam and he bumped me those final points. So happy about that. Just boring. Never even opened the workbook. Do the HW AND THE REVIEW TESTS and you'll be fine.
Attend class, do the homework, and take advantage of the online practice test. Work might be hard, but the resources are there if you take advantage of them. Very good teacher, and he cares about his students only the ones who cares about their grades.
Get to know the instructor, attend each class session, do the homework, and TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE ONLINE PRACTICE TEST!! Chilled teacher. Were young adults he can't possibly know if you have a question or not if you don't ask. No reason to fail or even drop the class. Easy class, don't need the book.
very nice doesn't pressure alot
He is very reasonable. Go to class. You don't want to miss the points. If you talk to him he his more than willing to help you.
He was very nice. If you are confused you can go to him after class or during the math lab and he is very willing to help and show you how to solve the problem. Don't be hesitant to ask him questions!
Vaughn was a great teacher. He went over the material in the book, but he also applied it so it would be more understandable.
The math classes at UAB are pretty much all online. You go to class to get attendance points. I made A's on everything. As long as you do the practice tests, the tests are easy. I did my homework in class and did fine. There was no other reason to go to class other than the points. I taught myself, but the class was very easy.
I loved Dr. Vaughan. I thought he was very easy to understand and also cared a lot bout how you were doing in the class. About halfway through the semester he shows you the things you need to work on and what you need to do to get the grade you want. I made an A because I did all my homework and went to class. Tests are online which is a pain.
Lecture from the workbook. Then homework & quiz online at next class. Vaughn's lectures were normal, but clear, math lectures. Attendance is for a grade. As long as you do your work and come to class you will EASILY get an A+. Every test comes w a study guide that very much prepares you. Bonus points given for doing the study guide for the final.
Awesome teacher! You can definitely tell he knows what he's doing and will be glad to help you understand! Favorite math teacher ever!
Great teacher. He taught from the workbook and his lectures were very clear and really helped when it came to the homework, quizzes, and tests. ALL of your work is online. Have to have the homework 100% done before deadline and two chances to take the quizzes. Easy class if you know/like math. Would take again.
The class and lab are mandatory, because attendance will be graded for points. A must have material is the textbook(its really a workbook) and bring it to class every time, the teacher uses the workbook for lecture. The lab is easy(in my opinion), it just doing homework, quizzes, or tests.
Classes are not excused, even with an excuse. Not understanding. Lectures last over class time. Rude.
Dr. Vaughan is a really cool guy but his lectures are so boring. Show up to class everyday to get points because those points can be very vital to your grade. To pass the tests there are practice tests that you do just do them until you get the material. Also doing the homework can boost your grade up so don't skip and try to get %100 on them.
He was an excellent instructor. I have always had issues with Math. He worked with me in lab to understand some things I couldn't get from the software and I could email him any time when I had software problems. As long as you come to class, do your work, and let him know about any problems ahead of time, you will be fine.
Will not deviate from the textbook examples. Makes students feel like idiots when questions are asked. Sprints through the examples. Class is a waste of time because you won't keep up but is mandatory. If you are hit by a car and have an excuse you will still won't be excused. Unapproachable. Recites the textbook. 0/10.
Professor Vaughan is not a great teacher at all. He is very rude and unapproachable. Very monotone and lectures are very boring. If you show up to class, you get participation points for being there, however, you'll end up just teaching yourself the material. Made an A but definitely taught myself on MathLabPlus
BORING, but willing to help if you don't understand.
You can definitely tell he has a passion for math, but the way he teaches it is so fundamentally difficult. He races through the actual material to get to example problems. If you manage to get a question in while he's flying through material, he makes your mistake very obvious for every body. You'll end up teaching yourself outside of class.
Dr. VAughan is a great professor and he is very willing to help but he is very disruptive at the beginning of class every week. He brings a roll into the classroom and put the 1st half of the alphabet on one side of the room and the 2nd half of the alphabet on the other side of the room, so everyone has to get u from their seat and get in line to
Does a great job making sure you understand the material. Is always willing to help out and has a great personality.
He wasn't a bad professor, but he wasn't exactly good. He is honestly rude to talk to, acts like you constantly an annoyance when you approach him with a question. Also, he never writes the problems/solutions correctly on the board. Basically every class we have to tell him he wrote a number wrong. Graded work in MyMathLab is very easy.
You end up teaching yourself. lectures make you more confused. he doesn't offer any tips or ways to understand memorize the many many details that are helpful. I think he is the only teacher for 106 so good luck. attend all lectures labs. do your hw quizzes on time for every point & you should be able to at least pass. DO NOT do this in the summer.
He made sure that I understood the material and if I ever did bad on a test, he made sure to offer suggestions on how to improve.
Not very professional at all, goes over the work as if the students already know it, refuses to slow down, has a habit of calling out students who may have a little anxiety about the work in the class, he takes up cell phones (what professor does that?) seems irritable and doesnt seem to care for the students really.
He is an alright teacher. In class he basically reads from what is in the text book. Be sure to come to class and with the book because that counts as points. Be sure to do the hw and quizzes they really help with the test because those are easy A's. If you feel the hw and quizzes are a bit tedious I recommend using a factoring cal. online.
He did not teach the material well. I only showed up to class for participation points, because I taught the material to myself after class. Fortunately, I am able to easily understand pre-cal. However, I would not recommend for those who need more help in math. He was quick to call someone out and take up phones just for having it on the table.
Took him as a first semester freshman and thought he was terrible to begin with, when really it was just me getting adapted to college lectures. Now I'm a Sophomore and registering for classes and saw him as an option for my name level math and couldn't be more thrilled to have him as a professor again. SO great compared to others in the department
He's an okay professor but because most of the course is online homework and quizzes you can learn much better from their help. I basically taught myself the information but you have to go to his lecture and lab days otherwise you won't get an A because it counts 5points each time you go,
you NEED to attend class to pass. he's really good at explaining the concepts that we're going over - most of the other math teachers aren't good at that. i would take his course again solely because he explained everything so well and made sure you knew the material. and he offered help outside of class. also don't use your cell phone in class.
Dr. Vaughan was pretty solid. He was never super fascinating in class, but he always taught the material clearly, and would take time to explain if a student was confused. This course is a well oiled machine, as long as you do the homework and quizzes, you'll be fine. He was also easy to understand and always helpful when we talked after class.
Very boring and Hard on students. If you are 5 mins late save yourself the time and just come 30 mins late he counts it all the same
You can tell that he definitely knows what he is doing. That being said, he speaks in monotone 100% of the time, and is extremely boring. You'll teach yourself in MyMathLabs outside of class. Unless pre calculus just excites the hell out of you, you will probably hate this class. Passing is doable, but you won't enjoy a second of it.
Went very fast and didnt stop to answer questions from confused students.
Went way too fast. Got annoyed when students would stop him to ask questions.
He does not interact with students at all unless answering questions he requires attendance and textbook and if you are there at the exact time class starts you're late I miss 3 questions a test off typos even though calculations are correct and make an 80% but test don't count for much fr so just show up with your textbook n do your quizzes and hw
Went way too fast. No one in the class could keep up. Got annoyed when students would ask him questions. Attendance is mandatory.
This class was difficult. Memorization is KEY. Have to retake for a better gpa.
Dr. Vaughan is boring. There's no way around that. He gives a bunch of homework, too. Still, he knows his material and explains it well, so the class is bearable. You might not like it, but you'll come out with a good grade if you go to lecture and do the work.
Went very fast and wouldnt answer student questions. I basically had to teach myself in this class. Also attendance is mandatory.
You're gonna be teaching yourself here. Math at UAB is basically an online class.
You feel like youre in middle school more than college.
Quite easy. Do the practice tests, show up to lectures. Not the most interesting class, but hey, its math. I dont think Loy is getting the credit he deserves
Honestly just show up for the classes and math labs and you'll do great. There are a lot of HW and Quiz assignments but you have 1 week to complete it so stay on top of the assignments. Be sure to take the practice tests as they are almost identical to the test. Dr. Vaughan is a stern but nice. The class is pretty easy.
Dr. Vaughan is a very strict professor who doesn't tolerate defiance. He grades for attendance every day. There was one lecture and one math lab per week. Homework and quizzes were weekly while there was a test about every 3-4 weeks. Unfortunately, he retired after this semester. He was a caring, soft spoken professor who provided a great class.
You HAVE to buy the unnecessary textbook and bring it to class and I never opened mine once. He usually sped through the lectures and never really answered questions if anyone had one. I ended up teaching myself most things when doing the homework. If attendance wasn't mandatory, I wouldn't have ever went.
Save your grade and take a different professor. I had to teach myself because I never understood his lectures. He went way to fast and would get angry if he had to stop to answer a question from a student.
Save your time and find a different professor. He teaches extremely fast and hates when students ask for clarification. Does not seem to care about students. The only reason I passed this class is because I spent hours teaching myself the material.
