The lectures are not good. Going into the class it seems like you are missing something that she should've taught. So many people failed the first exam this semester she let people retake it but there were no available test sessions, and called her students failures for failing it. I now have to drop this course which may offset my entire plan.

4.0 FSU student; 95% in FIN3403 (Gary Bliss). Class isn't hard conceptually—it's the sheer volume and little exam guidance, especially online. First exam wrecked grades; afterward they added a review and formula sheet. In-person is a cakewalk; online feels like “read the whole textbook and get tested.” Notes are wordy and confusing.

This teacher is awful, never take a class with yang as the professor, lectures make no sense as well as powerpoints, for test she says whatever is on the lectures or the notes is fair game, there is so much information that it doesn't even make sense, class did so bad on first exam that she blamed us for not doing good, doesn't narrow anything down

What I thought would be the easiest class turned out to be my hardest. Studied forever and still BOMBED the first exam. Lectures are unclear, PowerPoints are confusing, and there's no direction on what to study. Every assignment is through McGraw-Hill, which makes learning MISERABLE. She expects us to "grasp" every possible concept in the textbook.

Everyone failed the first exam and she only gave a hilarious 5-point curve. She did offer help but no extra credit. Communication is subpar and the class is overly complicated for no reason. Not allowing a graphing calculator makes it worse considering how hard the formulas are. She's very nice, but the way this course is structured is laughable.

I guess this is what you get when you pick the only teacher available for the one class you need. I'll probably end up failing, considering how poorly I'm doing right now with the lovely zero extra credit opportunities. I think she forgot this isn't the only class we're taking at FSU. My mental health and GPA is declining as I write this review. :(

If I could take the SAT 1000 times to not take this class, I would. Her tests are ambiguous, and her lectures are filled with errors. If you ask any question with any depth, she'll respond with "email me" and proceed to not even answer your question. Going into this, I thought this was going to be an easier class, but I ended up in the wringer. :(

Words can't describe the amount of years taken off my life from Dr. Yang. Coming from a 4.0 student, be prepared to see your GPA drop. She can't answer questions that are asked on the spot and provides 0 guidance. You can't look at a formula sheet before an exam. Even threatened to "deflate" grades if students tend to do better later in the week.

She doesn't answer any questions and provides 0 guidance for exams. She has so far been the worst professor I've had.

It's impressive how these challenging but manageable concepts were made so incredibly difficult. She teaches finance like it's calc 3, yet she struggles to answer students general questions.

If you take this class In person you'll be fine. If you take this class online get out asap.

I don't even know where to begin. This class used to be do-able but the old professor left. Now we are stuck with Yang as the only option. She says "any information on slides is fair game". Each test has about 500 slides worth of material, plus the 200 txtbok pages she wants u to read. I feel bad for people who have to take this course with her. GL

Professor Yang is nice and I mean no disrespect, but she needs to get a grip. The material is not difficult to understand if you take the time and learn it, it's just way to much crammed into a couple of weeks. I understand she's a new professor here but it's not right to make your students learn everything on their own with little to no help.

Might be the first class I ever flunk at FSU. No exam study guidance, awful communication, zero extra credit, and don't even get me started on the absurd amount of material being shoved down our throats. If you can't teach yourself an entire course's worth of material in one semester, I'm sorry to say, you're done for.

this is class is terrible. what was supposed to be a somewhat easy class has turned into studying for hours and hours just to still fail. She gives no guidance on what material will actually be tested. the exams are way harder than the practice.

If you're looking to get a head start on balding, take FIN 3244 online with Professor Yang. I've spent more time studying for ONE exam in this class than I have on all the assignments, lectures, videos, and exams for my other classes combined (not even exaggerating). Reading these reviews, it seems that all of us online students are drowning.

Worst professor I have ever taken at FSU. Get ready to learn the class from her in person lecture recordings that consist of horrible audio, broken english and kids coughing in class. If you ask her for advice all she says is watch the video lectures. She even admitted her failure and promised help but barely any was given for the next exams.

This class makes me want to cry. I've spent countless hours trying to learn from her lectures, yet I've made barely any progress. Nothing compares to walking into an exam feeling so confident you'll ace it, only to walk out with a hardly passing grade. She hides the exam averages and blames us for not trying hard enough. It's honestly just sad.

Every single question on the exams are made to trick you. The way they are worded are RIDICULOUS and impossible to answer if you don't know the EXACT corresponding answer to the question. Every concept question is written like "Which of the following is most likely" or "All of the following are true BUT". This class is a JOKE. 300 level class my AH

Hardest and most poorly structured class I've ever taken. I'm a straight A student, and this is the lowest grade I've ever had in a semester. I'll most likely have to drop it because of how bad my exam scores are. We're third-year business majors, not Ph.D. or master's students. How is this even allowed?

Run while you can. Dr. Yang crams a semester's worth of content into 1 exam with intentionally misleading exam prep (which there is little to none of). Isn't able to properly answer questions in class and laughs in ur face when u ask for a better explanation. It just gets worse and worse.

Every exam is completely different from the material taught. The only graded work is the two small weekly McGraw-Hill assignments, which do absolutely nothing to help you. Other than that, there are just three poorly structured exams that are worded nothing like the practice materials. DNR!

If I could give this course a 0, I would. Everyone is struggling, yet she hasn't done anything to help us. I spent twice as long preparing for exam 2 as I did for the first, just to improve by only 10%. Sad, so sad.

DO NOT take this class online. I'm a 4.0 student and very studious. I cannot emphasize that it doesn't matter how much I study or how much I prepare these tests are a dead end. I hope she realizes and switches the entire structure of the class next semester. Lectures are not taught in a coherent line of thought. Pray for us for the final.

Most disorganized class I have ever taken at FSU. Professor Yang crams masses of information into each week, and exams consists of information based on hundreds of powerpoint slides. Exams are insanely difficult and are written to make you fail. Online students are drowning with no help at all. Avoid like the plague.

I am 4.0 honors student and this is by far the hardest class i have ever taken. Her lectures are borderline incomprehensible and her PowerPoints are a mess. The exams have absolutely nothing in common with the minimal study tools she provides, making it feel like you're being set up to fail rather than actually learn. Avoid this class.

The online lectures don't teach you much and you basically would have to teach yourself everything to get a passing grade in this class. Her test are mostly based on conceptual questions that she doesn't do a good job explaining in her lectures. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! it will take a severe toll on your mental health. I wish baldness on her.

She is constantly changing up how she teaches. So confusing, she says to study the PowerPoints, but it doesn't help on the test AT ALL. The tests are basically the only grades put in, and she words the questions insanely hard and won't go over the test unless you specifically remember the questions. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS it will ruin your semester

Worst professor ever do not take her class

If a seasoned professor taught this course, It would be an enjoyable class that I could have made an A in. But this professor has no set process to her teaching, her lectures make no sense and are so hard to follow, and the exams are just completely unrelated. I cant believe I paid for this and its going to bring my GPA down.

Easily the worst professor ive ever had.

She makes it a lot harder than it needs to be. You leave her lectures with less knowledge than when you came in with. And when you finally feel like you are starting to grasp the concepts, she throws you in a loop. Its not worth it at all.

The lectures will confuse you more than the text book will. Your gpa will drop after this class.

Prof. Yang is knowledgeable about the course material. However, 28 pages of notes for one exam is simply too much information to master within 3 weeks. As a non-finance student who is required to take this course, there is no reason I should be spending more time on this course than my major courses. This course needs to be investigated by COB.

Taught myself most of the things in this class. Her exams are super tuff and the quality is poor. Take a different professor or take it in person. The rating may seem harsh but almost everything said in all of these reviews are true. Best of luck.

I fear that my anxiety stems from this class. I sometimes wake up in a sweat because I can't solve something to her standards or get sucked down a rabbit hole of trick questions that have no right answer. Literally jump scares me when canvas notifies that my grade changed. Dr. yang, if you are reading this, I am sorry (not really). :p

She finally decides, “Hey, half the class is failing, so maybe I should give some extra credit.” Then proceeds to drop the most unnecessarily difficult extra credit quiz known to mankind, complete with trick questions and god awful random fonts. All of that for a WHOPPING 10 points. But hey, at least it was open note! What a joke.

horribly run class. this prof is brand new and doesn't know what she's doing. the assigned lectures and homeworks get moved around last minute and the exams are extremely difficult.

Dr. Yang means well. However, she frequently crams too much content into her lectures — she has fallen behind schedule and recently asked us to teach ourselves prior to the final exam. I have noticed obvious conceptual or mathematical errors in lectures, and exam questions are not conducive to what is covered in her notes. Try to avoid if possible.

Lu Yang means well, but her class is awful. She crams a ton of material into her lectures and tells you that everything in them is fair game for the exam. The exams themselves are nothing like the lectures or some of the practice problems she will give you. Try to avoid her if you can.

The coursework is easy, the tests are brutal. It wouldn't be so bad but she doesn't post anything on time

The professor is new, but this does not excuse the fact that the class is so frustrating. The practice and homework are nothing like the exams. Very upsetting on how deceptive this class turned out to be. It really feels like the tests are meant to trick you. Be prepared to put the work in just to get a D on the exams.

I'd like to give the benefit of the doubt since she seems nice, but I think she's secretly evil. She said in a lecture after an exam that the test was “100% based on what I teach” and that's just a lie in terms of formatting. You'll learn something one way, and study that way and the formatting and wording is completely different on the exam. Evil

Terrible lectures, can't explain anything like she doesn't know what she's talking about, the homework is literally worth nothing doesnt bring grade up only down if you miss something. DOESN'T ANSWER EMAILS had to email the department chair many times bc she doesn't answer emails. Worst class I've ever taken ever.

I don't know what to say other than that she is a terrible lecturer and professor. She doesn't respond to emails or engage in the class. Just don't take this class with her because if you do you will have a terrible and stressful semester

First class I ever failed in my entire life. Genuinely not sure what to do with myself. If I had been on top of my assignments I would have passed… with a C max. do NOT take this online by any means, you wont learn anything bc this class is unbelievably dense with information and there is no extra credit except for one meaningless one at the end

I get that she's new, but that doesn't excuse how abysmal she is at teaching. The final wasn't even proofread, so there were questions that literally read “Answer text not provided.” Hundreds of PowerPoint slides to memorize only to get to a test that asks stuff we were never taught. I think she thinks her students are dumb for not understanding.

The hardest class that I have taken at FSU and it was because of the professor. People I know that have taken this past in the past have mentioned it was easy. This professor gives you hours of lectures and tells you that anything in the lecture can be on the test. Unless you study for 15+ hours for each test, good luck.

Provided a doctors note showing I had gotten a neurosurgical procedure done. I was out for a couple of weeks excused...I came back to school on a Monday and she had me take an exam 3 days later. Told her i wasnt ready and she ignored the email untill after id taken the exam. Had to learn all the material and study in 3 days. I failed that exam.

Gave her a doctor's note saying I'd just had ACL surgery and was excused for a couple weeks. I came back to class on a Monday, and she scheduled my exam for 1 day later. I told her I wasn't ready, emailed her, and she didn't respond until after I'd already taken it. I had to relearn everything and cram in 1 day. I failed that exam.

Would spend an entire week studying for an exam and still be SO lost. The lectures are alr hard and she makes the exams so different.Would even go to office hours and they wouldn't help. The amount of time and effort you need to put into this class is A LOT! Her favorite response when you ask her about the exam is “I don't know” SO FRUSTRATING.

The final was definitely the easiest exam, but the formatting of each test and its prep material was switched each time. It sucks that MY gpa has to go down because it took her so long to actually figure out how to teach a class. Lectures are unclear, and messages are very passive aggressive. She blames students for any and all issues that arise.

literally the worst professor ever. i've never gotten below an a in a college class and i've taken 30 now and i failed this one. she is terrible at teaching and does not care about her students passing. i was sick and missed an exam and had two doctors notes and she still gave me a zero on an exam 25% of my grade. do not take this class with her!!
