Works hard to help students learn, and is infinitely patient with explanations. Mandatory take-home quizzes serve as excellent test prep. No surprises or trick questions on tests; do the required work, show up to class, you'll do fine. Prof made econ very interesting, which is nothing short of a miracle for some of us.
Attendance isn't mandatory but it helps. She is amazing! Really helpful and wants you to understand so does not mind helping. Take home quizes are GREAT study material and reviews.
She's a very helpful and friendly professor. Her system is very doable. Take home quiz every week. The test is based on these quizzes and lecture notes. She also provides helpful review questions before each exam that are not for a grade(optional). She loves to have class discussion and is very sociable...take her !
She is fabulous! Really wants her students to learn and understand the material versus just teaching because she has too. She's passionate about the subject. Definitely recommend taking her class...
As long as you are not a rock, you will pass this class. Going to class is mandatory and tests are very simple.
She is an awesome professor, works hard to make sure everyone understands the subject. Subject matter is very interesting, and class participation will help you get a good grade. Definitely recommend this professor and this class.
Ketsler is a great professor, she genuinely cares that students learn and do well in class. If your going to take Econ take it from her.
Dr. Ketsler was simply amazing. She is the most helpful and kind professor I've ever had at UTD. She is even sponsoring an independent study for me this summer. I wish I had her as a professor for every class!
one word: hot...lol I show up just for it.
Great
great!
class is easy.. pay attention a little bit and do the assigned homework and you should get an A. teacher is really helpful and nice. she puts the powerpoints online. some say she is hot, i wouldnt go that far, but she is pretty good looing for an older woman. teacher says textbook is not required, but i bought it and it helped
She is very nice and tries to make class fun. If you just read the powerpoint slides you will be fine, coming to class helped for me because she explains things better than on the powerpoints. She's nice to look at too!
She's really nice and doesnt use the textbook which saves you money. As long as you do your work and look over the notes before exam, you'll make an A in the class
Very easy class as long as you do what she says. Make decent comments and you'll be fine. Take her over the others.
Very easy course just as long as you do as you're told. She grades super easy and the assignments are not hard as long as you attend class.
She is amazing. Extremely clear. Very thorough. Very helpful. Cares about her students.
She's super!
Go to EVERY CLASS, PRINT out the power point PRESENTATIONS before class, and take NOTES! Remember what she tells you is important to know (cuz it shows up on the tests). Do the homework diligently (cuz they sometimes show up on the tests as well). If you follow these directions, there is no reason why you won't make an A+. Best of luck :)
Great teacher, tests are easy if you go over the notes
Such a great teacher. Wish she taught more upper level Econ classes
Class was pretty easy. Total of 5 quizzes and they were take home. Pretty much an easy 100 as long as you did them. There were 3 exams. Whatever she wrote on the board was normally on the test. Her Study Questions were also a good indication of what the test would look like.
Overall, the class was pretty easy as long as you keep up with everything. Make SURE to do the optional reviews she gives you before the tests. The actual test questions correspond very closely to the content given on the reviews.
Luba's great. The class is super easy. She requires four, five page papers. Everything is taught via power point. The debating every class is a beating.
Overall a very good and nice professor. She spends a good deal of time relating the class to current events so it stays interesting! Tests were simple and quizzes were basically homework. Give a decent amount of effort and you'll be fine!
She's a great teacher! She will learn your name, so make sure you are listening to her material when she calls you out. I wasn't too interested in ECON, but she made it interesting to learn. Also, her quizzes are completion grades, and the tests weren't too bad.
Easy 'A' class. You don't even need to buy the book because her powerpoints cover everything that's on the exams.
As stated below, Dr. Ketsler is awesome! She is sweet, funny, and smart. No book needed. Easy A if you try. A great intro into the wide world of Economics ;D
She is very smart and very helpful. She gives you her presentation notes so it is pretty easy. Her tests are not really hard.
LOVE PROFESSOR KETSLER!! She's witty and I liked going to class. She has current event days where the class just talks about the world today and I like that. It's easy to share your opinion and not feel judged for disagreeing. I liked her class a lot and would suggest it to any major. The test are extremely easy.
She is GREAT!!! Take this teacher! She knows her stuff and loves it. Only 2 test the rest is on attendance, participation and articles you must bring and present to class ! She give review for test the review is the test!!! Loved the class.
She is a great teacher. Encourages students to ask questions as much as they can, and will clarify anything that is unclear.
I really enjoy her class. She has powerpoints that go very well with the chapters in the textbook. If you are having trouble with anything, she is happy to go over the material until you get it. I recommend her to anyone interested in economics.
One of the best teachers I have ever had. Helpful, provides lectures in a clear and easy way to understand. Always there when you need help.
Extremely kind and loves to involve students to stimulate connections and interests. All materials are on the powerpoints, just come to class if you don't understand them, she lays it out for you on the white board. Test questions are based off of test examples online and quizzes, make sure to do both and you will get an A.
Great professor. She is very clear and makes sure everyone understands the material before moving on.
One of the best professor I have ever had! Reason why I chose to double degree in Economics! Always in a cheery mood and makes you feel happy too! Nothing new on the tests everything is what she teaches in class! Amazing teacher!
I'm a health science major and I loved this class!! Before taking this class I didn't pay much attention to the "health" aspect of this country as well as other countries around the world. However now I feel like I know so much and more than that I enjoyed this class ALOT! I never skipped a day of class because that's how much I enjoyed it, lol.
Really cool teacher. The whole time im laughing at the way she says things and the way she responds to people. Its not that she's making jokes, its just that she's so quirky haha. Class is pretty easy if you pay attention, which i did not and still pulled a B. But yeah she was cool.
This was a great class. I'm a Healthcare Management major & this was an elective for me. It brought a whole new light to the world of healthcare. Her essays are simple enough (5), do your research and you will be fine. Her tests (2) are fair, she gives you potential test questions to study before hand. I would take her again.
Easy class. Easy A, but definitely one of my favorite. I took it as an elective and I really gave me a new perspective to analyze things considering I'm not an econ major. Great class about healthcare economics. She's liberal leaning, but allows others to state their views.
Prof Ketsler knows her stuff! The class is based on discussion and is very engaging. Join in on the "arguing", put a small amount of effort into your 5 3-page papers, complete the reviews (which are your tests - 2 of them) and you'll get an A. The topic is very relevant right now. Lots of fun!
Very personable and sweet! Went to class, didn't pay attention, didn't read the book, but I did do the reviews and pulled an A! No projects just 3/4 take-home quizzes (reviews) and 3/4 exams and one 200 word writing assignment.
Great professor! Loved economics as a topic, might be more difficult to those who dislike the subject or have difficulties with economics. Test are medium difficulty, must read and study and pay attention
Great professor, easy class. She has an incredible memory! Very interesting and makes economics fun.
Her teaching method is awesome. 'Nuff said.
She's honestly one of the cutest professors. She's so funny and sarcastic! She's a great professor. She really engages in conversation with the class. The book really isn't needed for the class. She gives you great notes and her powerpoints are on elearning. Take her if possible. You won't regret it!
She was alright. She makes sure everyone understands everything but if you're not paying attention she picks on you. If you get called on and don't know the answer she'll keep asking you the remainder of the class. She had some funny moments though. Overall not bad just a boring class and she didn't really make it that fun.
Your grades are 2 tests, a final, take home quizzes, and two easy writing assignments. You really don't need the book. Just know that some of the concepts do take a good bit of studying to get since tests are heavy on the conceptual side, but if you study your quizzes and reviews, you'll do fine. I'd say take her.
Amazing teacher. She will tell you whats on the test if you go to class and her test reviews are on point. She is a little wacky at times but not for long. Really good at memorizing your face so if you show that you want to do good in class then she will remember you. Shes pretty hot too which is a plus.
She is good at remembering faces and may call you out(to make sure you get the material)for the rest of the course. Your grade is basically your midterms and final which are easy. The book really helps to understand the concepts, since she sometimes might skip some main points, especially if economics is your major. She does care about students
Awesome sarcastic personality. Love her as a person, but teaching-wise she's all over the place. Lectures don't help you on the test: Know the book vocab. ad nauseum, memorize the take home quizzes, and memorize the reviews posted online. I made an A but I worked my tail off for it. Gotta admit she's attractive. 10 yrs ago I bet she was very hot
Makes class enjoyable. Current events session on Fridays that makes it easy to look forward too. Good class discussion and real world examples of the material. Take home quizzes help with tests, and she will work with you on turning them in if you have a problem. So understanding, and such a nice lady!
Super energetic and friendly. Explains the material very well in lecture, and homework assignments are great prep for the tests. Manages to keep dry material interesting with anecdotes and asides. Wish she would call on more than just the same five or six students every class, but overall fantastic professor.
She's a pretty nice professor, she will regularly ask if everything is clear or if anyone has any questions during the lecture, so she welcomes questions. Tests are fine if you study and go over the practicereview sheets she gives. textbook isn't really necessary- just pay attention and do the take home quizzes
SHES awesome. she is funny and her class is easy. just show up enough and do the take home quizzes which are a breeze and gurantteed A
Incredibly nice teacher. Ask us consistently if she's being clear. She really cares about her students. Very intelligent lady, I recommend her
She's awesome. Really funny. She gives power points and gives a 2 to 3 take home quizzes a month, but gives a lot of time to do it. Her tests mimic the review.
All I could say is that her test are tough my biggest regret is not going to Blake Si sessions and I didn't have a book to study. You must go in order to make at least a C in her class because the majority grade comes from the Test and Final no drop lowest test. You could least pass her class without it but you need to go to blake to pass.
I LOVE HER!!! You will be so lucky if you take her class!!
Hi everyone I just got my grades posted and I ended up with a D+ , I made a 37 on my exam 1 , a 64 on my exam 2 , and on my final a 70 I assume , a 100 on the homeworkquiz .My average is a 64.75 65 Exam 1 is 25% , Exam 2 is 25% ,and the final is 35%, Homework 15%.Doesn't drop lowest test grade. Its all Multiple Choice Test 40-45 ?, final 80?
You have to work hard If you made below a c 2.00 i advise you to take her class again or anyone at utDallas. If you hate economics avoid her at all cost because she will get confusing . GPA will be low if you are a new transfer student or fr . Pay attention carefully if you go the office hours she will tell you a hint what might be in the final.
This was my first economics class and she made it easy for me to learn the basics. She is a very nice person and will try to involve the class in the lectures. Lectures can be boring sometimes but her personality keeps you interested. Her tests aren't too bad if you pay attention and study beforehand.
Most people took her for a basic econ class, but I had her for Economics of Health. She loves class discussions and encourages everyone to speak up and share articles and information. She basically gave us the exam questions beforehand, too! Super funny and easy to talk to - definitely great if you've got background in economics already.
I took BOTH her Macroeconomics course and Healthcare Economics course. She is very funny and engaging during her lectures. I never had a textbook in either of her courses; it's not needed if you attend her lectures and take good notes. She is also very understanding of you are dealing with family issues. I'd take her again!
She loves to hear what students have to say. A majority of the students in my class participated in discussion. Mandatory research papers that have to be completed but she gives you more than enough time. I would definitely take her class again. Her slides have most the information that you'll need but it's extremely helpful for the exams.
Lectures are full of energy and she seems to know very well what shes talking about. Her explanations are pretty clear and overall is a great teacher Tests and homework are pretty easy, the only problem is that she does not post grades onto the school's website until the last month of the semester or so
Good teacher. Easy A for me, but I'm good at Economics. Really easy to understand, take home homework every now and then, but I didn't have to read the textbook much at all. Attendance is not mandatory, which I guess is good.
Professor Ketsler's lectures are enjoyable, fun and I liked that she broke down concepts nicely to make them clearer. Or, I just REALLY like Economics on my own. But she is adorable and funny. However, she can sometimes be downright mean. Makes good effort to remember names if you participate in class. Textbook did not seem too important for me.
Interesting lectures which tell you all you need to know. Quizzes and reviews are also super helpful and make the tests simpler.
She is an alright professor but her lectures for the most part do not help. The only parts that helped were when she went away from teaching the powerpoints and actually did some practice problems in which we could apply what we learned. She is very lively and funny, and pretty hot.
Professor Ketsler is very enthusiastic about the subject she is teaching which makes lectures interesting. Attendance is not required but I would recommend attending. She tells you what to expect on the exams (3 exams). She also gives out take home quizzes which are graded based on attempt. Go to class and study for exams & you will get an A.
Profesor Ketsler is economics bae.
Health Econ- 2 tests (30%), three 7-page papers (60%), 10% participation. She gives you potential questions for the tests. Tests are in essay form but study these and you'll be fine. She grades easy on papers. A presentation is part of your participation grade. I am skipping it however and still expect to make a A or B+.
They are two mid-terms, one final and five quizzes-which are take home. No extra credit is offered, and her exams can be tough. What do I recommend? Study hard, and attend SI sessions regularly. For transfer students, don't take ANY core classes here. Take them ALL at a community college. This will make your life less stressful & a LOT cheaper $$$
Ketsler is super sweet. Asks at least 5 times per lecture, "Am I clear, any questions?" You do have to study to do well on tests, as she throws some trick questions in the mix. Lectures were usually just textbook notes on powerpoints, so you don't NEED the book if you're a good note taker.
As a first year, she's by far the only professor I had that actually seems passionate about what she teaches. If you do not understand a certain subject during the lecture, she is more than happy to go over it with you again.
Professor Kestler is a great professor. She is adorable and so sweet! Her lectures are great and she makes sure to answer any questions any students have. I wish I could take her for Microeconomics. There are take home quizzes that are assigned but are not too hard, if you read the book.
Professor Ketsler is one of a kind. She is an amazing character, as an instructor and as a person. She cares about her students and wants them all to succeed. She is sweet, kind, and highly professional. I will truly miss her and her teaching style.
Ketsler has to be one of the most enjoyable professors I've had. Her Macro class is extremely easy, even if you skip often, all of her notes are online, there's barely any homework besides the few odd take home quizzes which takes minutes to complete. If you have a chance to take her, do it.
Ketsler is a good teacher, but she is just a powerpoint reader and her tests aren't too bad
Wonderful professor and has the truly respect attitude to all of students. You can easily to do well on the quiz if you take a note and look up her power point!
defiantly the best ECON professor... Loved her class, learned a lot.. very engaging and discussion-based class. The three papers due can be challenging but graded fairly. The tests are direct and comprehensive. Pay attention in class, contribute, and study the review sheet... A is guaranteed.
Prof. Ketsler is AWSOME. She is light on grading papers. I am not an economic major, and I still got it wherever she was talking about. She has great personality. Highly recommend to have her as your elective class prof.
Professor Ketsler is an amazing professor. There was a presentation, two exams, (which she provided us with a review for), and three essays that were 7 pages minimum. She did a great job of engaging students into her lectures, and made it as fun and interesting as can be. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND her, she's awesome! Do your work, and you'll do great!
The class was very easy. I only studied for tests the day before and only missed a question or two. The tests are multiple choice. The tests are worth 85% of your grade. Quizzes that are free 100's are worth 15%. Do well on tests and you'll be guaranteed an A. I skipped class only a few times, going really helps and she lets you out early.
Prof. Ketsler is all a student can ask for in a professor. If you get to know her outside of class, she is also an amazing person with a heart of gold. Take her, and you will not regret it.
She's an amazing teacher and the class is very interesting. She does not take attendance and I never opened the book and still got an A in the class. It's not easy though, the topics are interesting enough to keep you engaged. 2 tests, 3 papers and 1 group project - papers are fairly easy, tests are kind of challenging
Before taking her I heard that she had free response exams and gave the questions beforehand, didn't seem too bad. When I got there she changed it to 25 question multiple choice exams based on lecture slides that weren't descriptive, but you had to know the conceptual side of it for the exam without a review.
She is a solid choice for a professor. Her lectures can be a bit confusing, but if you ask for clarification in class or privately she will spend time with you until you understand the concepts. The concepts are key in this class. If you understand them you will ace the tests. You can't get by just by memorizing terms. Pay attention during lecture.
There are 3 regular exams and one cumulative exam and a few quizzes and hw. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND you go to class because sh's very good at explaining (although her lectures go by a little fast) and solely reading the textbook won't do you enough. If you really want to understand, go to class and read the book for details. Exams are easy if u study.
She clearly cares about what she teaches about, and is thoughtful to ask every once in a while, "Are you getting it?" However, the material is extremely dry and she isn't the most exciting teacher. Several classmates around me slept through good chunks of lectures and I almost fell in line with them. As long as you can focus you can easily pass.
She really is a great professor who gives very clear grading criteria. My best advice is to study extensively for your tests, as they make up 85% of your overall grade (25%-Exam 1, 25%- Exam 2, 35%-Final Exam). If you have any questions, she is more than happy to help answer your questions during her office hours. Take her for Macroeconomics!
Professor Ketsler is great! She is truly passionate about the material she covers in class and that passion certainly shines through. This class is structured as a seminar, and functions best when students provide commentary and beliefs about the material, so don't be shy! I highly recommend her class to anyone pursuing a career in healthcare!
If your only goal is to get an A, then take her Macroeconomics class. If you are truly interested in economics and want a stimulating learning experience, take the class with someone else. I found her class unsatisfying in comparison to microeconomics with Dr. Arce. (She's a total cutie though)
Tests almost exactly off of powerpoints, I barely read the textbook. I had one group project and 3 essays, essays were weighted more than the two tests (one midterm and then the final). She is very willing to answer any and all questions, and will like you more if you actually participate in class.
She is very passionate about economics and makes the class very interesting. She incorporates current events nicely to her lectures. She is very nice and cares for her students.
loved her. she gives really helpful reviews before tests
Cool teacher, almost begs for you to ask her questions cause she really wants you to understand the information and it's really easy to understand it. Main thing is, there's only 3 exams, first 2 worth 25% each, last one 35%, and 5 quizzes for 15% total. Easy class, made an 88 without studying that much.
She's the best econ teacher by far. She explains all the concepts and you can get grades in the class if you study the book/slides. Attendence isn't mandatory and her lectures aren't boring at all.
Her test are hard. chose her after reading ratings here but the tests ARE HARD. And your grade is dependent on 3 exams which isn't fair. I made a 50 on one exam so now I can't make an A in the class no mater what. She gives 0 extra credit.
She's nice but all over the place. Exams are harder than expected but read the textbook even though there are slide shows.
3 essays, 2 exams, and 1 presentation. Prof doesn't have a continuous flow of thought but she makes her point. The class itself is boring but she genuinely wants you to learn so you will leave the class knowing something about econ of health. Essays need analysis and data. Pay attention when she talks about what will be on the exams.
She doesn't care about her students at all
Here's my honest opinion. GREAT class and Extremely interesting. Class is made up of 3 essays, 2 tests, and 1 presentation. The essays are very interesting and you can get an A on all 3, but the 2 tests are VERY HARD. I really like her as a person but sometimes she loses her train of thought and then I completely forget what we are talking about.
Ketsler really tries to be a great teacher. You can tell that she genuinely wants her class to be interesting and helpful in the future. However, sometimes she's confusing and the lectures can become a bit dry. I had to go to SI routinely to truly absorb the information.
Her class was incredible. She was passionate in her lectures everyday. The class was never boring, and she was always teaching with a smile. She is kind, caring, and will give every spare minute she has to her students. Her tests and essays are challenging ,but she tells you exactly what she wants for each. Would take her again no questions asked.
Awesome professor who knows her stuff. So long as you go to class and put forth minimal effort on tests and homework, then the class is pretty easy.
She takes attendance so you wanna be there, the (2)tests are hard if you don't know what's going on, there are 3 minimum 7 page research papers and one group project, class participation matters. She's a sweet person and knows what she's talking about, Textbook doesn't do much since her ppts are straight from txtbook.
Your grade is determined by 3 tests and 5 take home quizzes. Make sure you do well on the test because they make up a huge portion of your grade. The book is not necessary and the quizzes are an easy 100 as long as you put some effort. Overall this professor and class went well!
Great professor. Don't be afraid to go over the 7 page minimum, and use 15+ sources for straight As for the papers. Each day was interesting and she ties in a lot of personal experiences and anecdotes to make the boring stuff shine too. Make sure you show up for review day before exams and write down everything she mentions.
Loved Principles of Macroeconomics with Professor Ketsler! Easy A if you pay attention and STUDY! Quizzes are a big help in studying, and she gives you tons of review practice problems prior to each exam.
2 hard exams, 3 easy papers (if you have proper analysis). I personally found this class to be boring but she tries to make it interesting so I did leave the class learning something. She was nice enough to bump my grade up to an A- without me even asking (since I did poorly on an exam but did well on essays).
She really cares that you know the material. If you talk in class she will learn your name and be generous with you even if you slack off on the papers. The exams are hard but if you come to class and pay attention you will be alright. Shes's from the U.S.S.R. and she REALLY knows good healthcare vs bad healthcare. Tests are from the slides.
Sweet, so knowledgeable, flexible, caring. She lights up the classroom with her enthusiasm and charm! I feel so excited to learn coming to her lectures every time!
Not an easy A. Be Prepared to study a lot for every exam.
Prof is fine, exams are crazy hard. Doesn't really curve unless she favors you as a student. Essay grades are also based on how she favors you as a student. Earle is the better choice if you want fair grading vs just a grade based on your face.
She assumes that you know the subject beforehand and doesn't explain things in detail. Her exams are extremely hard and she doesn't explain any of the topics well. She's really disorganized and her lectures are not clear. She goes on random tangents about her life or about her other classes that she teaches.
Professor Ketsler puts the information in the most simple terms possible. You can honestly teach yourself the material from the book. The quizzes she assigns are on Quizlet/ or CourseHero. Her tests really aren't that bad either. She gives you a review for each one, and it mimics the test.
Professor Ketsler was a great professor. She tries very hard to make sure you are learning something. There are 3 essays which are 7 pages each, which were time consuming. 2 exams that are literally what she says on her exam reviews, which she does in class with you. One easy group project. I never opened the textbook but wrote whatever she said.
Health Economics with Ketsler is very straightforward if you are an Economics major, as you really just need to be able to properly apply basic economic theory to health-related problems/ideas. She does a great job of conveying information and making the class interesting. Take her class, especially if you need an economics elective.
She is a nice lady and explains the concepts very well. I'm not much of an economics person so it was difficult for me, but she makes sure that you understand the material. If you can't follow along in class, reading the textbook is helpful.
I love professor Ketsler. I had her for my Econ 2306 and decided to take her for Health Economics. 3 research essays, 7 pages, 11 font. 2 exams, 1 midterm and a final. She basically gives a review before each exam and exams are based on her review. She is an amazing professor. TAKE HER for Econ, absolutely RECOMMENDED!
She is a good prof but the concept/ exam could be a little hard sometimes. Pretty good with explanation most of the times but sometimes you may have a hard time understanding. If you self study and go to class take her.
Honestly, she is really nice but her teaching style just wasn't for me. I recommend reading the textbook to get an A, even though there are slides they are not always clear. The textbook helped me understand tricky concepts.
Professor Ketsler is awesome. She knows her health Econ like the back of her hand. Only down side is there are 3 essays each a minimum of 7 pages. A midterm and final. The test are ok and she gives a review of the things you will need to know. The class is interesting engaging. Didn't use the textbook but she provides a free copy on elearning.
Her class is primarily lecture driven, so either you have to come to class or read the book and power point slides on your own. Quizzes are very easy take home assignments.
Luba Ketsler is a gem. She is always smiling while she is lecturing and gives thorough explanations about the concepts she presents. She loves to engage students while she is lecturing. Once she knows your name, be prepared to participate for the rest of the semester. I genuinely enjoyed her class. All you have to do is go to class & listen. :)
She's very enthusiastic and genuinely cares about helping her students understand the material. 5 take-home quizzes, 2 exams, and a final. She was really good about giving lots of examples in class and providing review materials before tests
Yes, her lectures were boring most of the times but thats just because economics isnt an interesting subject. Asides from that, she has take home quizzes that should be easy As. She also gives out a review before the exam, which is super super helpful. Focus more on the reviews and quizzes than the slides for the exams.
Loved macroeconomics with her. You may not like her if you don't like professors who tell stories and aren't always on task. She also does current events on Friday, and they're very interesting.
I like her a lot. She is a caring professor who truly want her students to succeed. However, if you never go to class, shame on you. You will fail her class because she covered everything during class. Quizzes are easy, but be careful with conceptual questions.
Ms Ketsler is a nice lady. She explains every concept well. Tests require you to study hard as well as quizzes.
grade is determined by whether she likes a students or not and how well you do in essays and test depend on this too some receive curves and yur best bet is to be on her good sidde
I really enjoyed the way Prof Ketsler encouraged participation during the class. The material is pretty simple and she does an excellent job of explaining both the theory and application. Her grading is beyond fair. She is both professional and engaging with her students and I would definitely take her again.
Dr. Ketsler is a great professor and she knows so much about health econ and the healthcare system in general. You will learn so much about the healthcare system from her class. 10% of the grade is participation and she sometimes takes attendance. Other than that there are 2 tests (that are the same as the review)& 3 super long essays (7pages).
She's a very nice professor and truly cares about her students. She is very passionate about healthcare. I also took her for 2301. And even though her test are hard, she explains material very well.
Very intelligent professor with a great understanding of healthcare. 3 7-page essays, 2 tests, and a participation grade. Do NOT procrastinate on the essays and she tells you all you need to know on the test the class before the exam. She has a photographic memory so she will know if you skip class here and there. Would highly recommend.
rude grades harshly and her exams are worded in a vague language don't take to save your gpa highly perfectionstic if someone does a paper last minute they get a good grade if you work on it a month you still get a bad grade who understands this grading criteria
Prof. Ketsler is a solid choice. She's funny and genuinely wants you to learn and understand the material. The class is mostly graded by your take-home quizzes and exams. If you study hard you will get an A but it can be tough for those looking to do no work. She's a great teacher but can be mean if you disrupt the class. Overall a great choice
Class is not mandatory but highly encouraged bc her lectures are really helpful & she often gives out info about upcoming tests. 5 take-home quizzes, she goes over it, and it's all self-graded. 2 tests & a final (pretty easy). There are SI sessions every week and they definitely helped. Don't talk during class bc she'll call you out lol
Prof Ketsler is funny and a very interesting teacher. She is very reasonable with coursework and grading. She wants everyone to succeed and at the same time keeps students engaged.
Take good notes in class, ask for feedback on essays, and focus really well on the exam reviews. It's not hard to get an A. Good luck!
She is wonderful. Without a doubt my favorite professor at UTD. I took both micro and health econ with her and while you do have to read and do work, she's helpful and a fair grader.
She is a funny and caring lady, and makes sure you understand before moving on. Doesn't take attendance, though I recommend you go because she explains everything well. Two exams and then one cumulative final. Other than the exams she gives out 5 take home quizzes which are really helpful and gone over the next class.
fun and easy lectures. three papers and two exams, participation and attendance DOES matter. explains everything really well so I wouldn't skip and she does a review the class before the exam which is SUPER helpful
She is my favorite professor at UTD! Definitely extroverted so build that relationship and put effort into her class and she'll be more likely to help you out. Speak up in class, go to office hours and be honest about your situation. She's very intelligent and this is a class I can actually say I learned something in.
You need to go to class, pay attention to her. She will show you how to do everything you need to do. Write everything down then go home and look at it again. You will pass. Also she makes economics fun, and relevant.
WOW what a professor! Shes amazing, hands down the best professor at UTD. I hate economics, but her lectures were fun and relevant. You can tell she cares about her students, and that she loves to teach. She's extremely helpful, and was an understanding professor during the COVID-19 outbreak! I wish I could have her for every class lol
She's the best. Make sure to review the quizzes and attend SI sessions to get the best grade possible. All of her tests can be achieved well if u focus on the quizzes she assigns. Most can be found online and on the textbook (which is not required and is free in her class). She's so nice and part of the reason why I am an Econ major
Most of you grades are made up of three exams. If you study, they are manageable. Quizzes are take home and a good study source for exams. She gives a free copy of the textbook, but is not required. However, it is useful for the quiz or if you don't like her teaching style. Her slides are posted online.
One of the best professors at UTD, hands down. I actually did poorly taking her class the first time due to my own laziness, so I took her again because I knew how good she was. She is really passionate about Econ and does her best to make it engaging for the class. She really works hard to get to know people in her class too. I highly recommend.
One of my all time favorites at UTD. She really cares about her students and will know you by name. Attendance is not required but she will know if you don't come. Her lectures are amazing and you need to go to actually learn and pass. Homework and practice exams were very helpful in preparing for tests. 11/10 would take again!
I had her this year when we are learning everything online for Macro economics and she is such a good teacher. really make the lesson entertaining and easy to understand
Professor Ketsler is one of the most intelligent and well-rounded individuals I have met (virtually). Her lectures are very interesting, and if you pay attention and take good notes, tests will be a no-brainer. The homework quizzes are completion grades, plus you have three non-cumulative exams. She has a free copy of the textbook, don't buy it.
Professor Ketsler has good lectures and she is accessible outside of class. There are 5 quizzes and 3 exams which are pretty easy if you understand the material well. Professor Ketsler has a great way of teaching, even virtually.
Best professor I had at UTD. She's so caring, intelligent, and most importantly she listened to her students concerns and made sure that we all were doing well during this virtual semester. Really enjoyed this course! There are 7-page essays and 2 exams but they were graded fairly, according to how much work you put in.
Great professor all around. With online schooling, her asynchronous class was more challenging but she always made herself accessible via Teams office hours. I took her for core credit, her tests are easy and straightforward. She's very kind too. Make sure to go to SI sessions too, if your class is async.
Taking this class online was really what made it difficult for me. I really felt disconnected from the lessons and didn't feel that I was learning much from the stream videos opposed to just reading the powerpoints. This could be fault to an asynchronous format but it was definitely a difficult course for me.
This class was completely online, she uploaded at least 2 lecture videos per week. Grades were based on 5 quizzes which were completion grades and 3 exams. Exams were alright, not hard if you watch lectures, studied powerpoints and the extra notes she provided. Didnt study and still got an A but I wouldnt say its an easy A. Jesus took the wheel lol
This Professor is amazing. Her lectures are so straight forward and she is very easy to approach for any questions. I took her for Macro economics and I will definitely take her again for healthcare economics. I took this class fall 2020 online.
Fully online due to covid so I feel like I didn't enjoy it that much 100% due to it being online. Her exams/quizzes were fairly straightforward. You don't have to read the textbook, but for me reading it was a good review of her lectures. If you've taken AP econ in high school, you'll definitely do great!
Really nice professor posts her lectures so no live attendance, examples and explanations are easy to understand. She's really good at responding to emails and her quizzes are opened I believe for a week so you have a lot of time. Tests are also straight to the point.
She's a great lecturer and will definitely help you out if you need any! I personally didn't need to read the textbook and thought her PPTs were good enough for exams. Best way to practice for exams is to practice through quizzes. Quizzes are completion grade, but are super helpful in familiarizing exam format. Love Prof Ketsler, would totally rec!
I took this class just because it was required for my graduation credit. However, I really enjoy her class. Her lectures are super crisp and she gets straight to the point. The only homework she has our 5 quizzes throughout the semester and they're just completion grades. Do the quizzes and you'll pass the test.
Such an enjoyable class! Quizzes are take home so you have a chance to study and apply the material. Tests are based on quizzes, SI sessions, and reviews she creates. As long as you study those, you will get an A. Concept-wise, it's a really good idea to go to her class. She explains things very clearly and if you don't go, go to the SI Sessions.
easiest A of my life. all the quizzes are take home and are participation grades. gives loads of extra credit. you don't need to go to class because everything is on the powerpoints and if u really need to review u can go to the SI sessions. I finished with an A+ and I went to class about 3 times.
Prof Luba taught a refreshing class in comparison to other health-related courses. As long as you showed up to lecture every now and then, you were pretty much able to get all the information you need for the class. She grades leniently and her tests are relatively easy. Your grade is dependent on 2 research papers (7 page minimum) and 2 exams.
Great professor who gets straight to the point and makes Macro interesting. Really cares that we understand the material before moving on. For tests, she posts review questions for each chapter. Look at the Quiz answer keys and PowerPoints to study and you'll be fine. Grading criteria was 5 quizzes (2% each), and 3 noncumulative tests (30% each).
I never go out of my way to write these but I had to this time. she is an amazing professor that cares about her students. she makes her lectures so interesting and makes tests super straightforward. first time ever I found myself learning material to actually understand it instead of memorizing fluff for trick questions. 10/10. u wont regret it.
Hands down one of my most favorite professors! Three exams, five quizzes. Exams are based off material in the quizzes and any practice reviews she posts before the exam. She's also accessable outside of class if you have questions.
To be fair, I took AP Macro in highschool so this class was more of a review for me. She was always willing to answer questions and walk you through concepts again. She gives a review before each test, only assignments besides the tests were unit "quizzes" which you do on your own time and are allowed to work in groups (completion grade).
Amazing teacher, makes class super easy. Quizzes are completion/effort grades. Does reviews for the tests, make sure you don't put off this class though or you will easily fall behind. Take it at community college if you can, because the grade won't factor into your UTD GPA.
Easy class. Only reason for my A- is because I did poorly on my first exam. The teacher makes the test easy and is straightforward.
Professor Ketsler is one of the best! She always makes the material easy to understand, and she tells you exactly what to study for the tests. Make sure to do the reviews because they are really helpful as well. There are 3 tests and 5 quizzes, so the workload is not bad. If you try, you will probably make a good grade.
If you have to take econ at UTD, take it with Ketsler. She has a bit of a passive-aggressive personality but overall seems to care. 1st exam was the hardest, but the last two were fairly easy and she was very clear about the content they covered. 5 easy take home quizzes. Make sure to study the test reviews and quizzes for the exams-overall good!
Great class! 2 research essays (7 pages each) were time-consuming but she grades it leniently. Study guides for Midterm and final exams. She gave back 3 points for midterms and 6 points for finals. Classes were more discussion-based and interactive. Professor Ketsler is so sweet and radiates positivity. Overall, I definitely recommend her class!
Professor Ketsler is an amazing economics professor! She ensures that everyone understands the concept by practicing examples multiple times and gives ample amount of time for anyone in the class to ask questions. She also recorded lectures in case anyone missed them. She truly cares for the success of her students. Would recommend taking notes.
This is honestly one of the hardest econ 2301 classes at UTD. There are three tests worth 90%, so if you do poorly on one of them, it is impossible to make a good grade as she offers zero extra credit.
Professor Ketsler leads an engaging lecture, and is very knowledgable on what she teaches. She will go in depth about any questions you have. She has a quiz due every few weeks, and three exams. The course material can be tough, but if you attend every lecture and apply minimal effort, you can easily get a good grade.
Professor Ketsler is a fantastic instructor. Good grades and thorough comprehension of the material are guaranteed if you attend every lecture, especially since attendance is not mandated.
Luba is likely the best for ECON 2301. Take her if you can!!! Some topics can be confusing at times, but if you ask her during or after class she will do her best to make sure you understand the content. Quizzes were participation grades, and exams had points given back. Overall an amazing professor
She knows her stuff, cares for her students' success, and is very fair when teaching and grading. She records her lectures so if you need you can rewatch them on your own time. she gives you reviews, and the quizzes are super helpful for studying for the test. when I was a student of hers, she had 5 quizzes and 3 tests. got the grade back quickly.
She is very kind and really does her best to make sure you understand the material. Shell take her time explaining things to make sure you get it. She has 3 tests total I would say the most difficult is the second but overall the class seems easy just make sure you study
If you need to take ECON 2301, take it with this professor. She's very passionate and she knows what she's talking about. Attendance is not required, but very helpful. She's very kind and will take the time to explain anything you are confused about. 5 quizzes that are completion grades and 3 tests. Take this professor- but still study!
Even though attendance is mandatory for her classes, make sure you show up or you can get lost. She is clear when explaining concepts and wont move on until she is sure everyone understands. Use her review questions and study the quizzes and you will be prepped for exams. Don't slack off though because the class is graded primarily on 3 exams.
She makes sure her student understand the lecture material and she is really engaging with students.
Very good professor, I barely put in any effort and got an easy A. There are five "quizzes" that are completion grades and three exams which were very easy if you went to her lectures.
Don't look the grade I recieved. I rarely put up reviews, and that speaks volumes to how good she is. I don't even know where to start, she is like a mother!! She is super caring, and will make sure you understand the information. This class is really light in terms of work. I just am not good at econ which is why my grade was what it was. Take her
Loved this class. She makes an effort to try and get to know every student's name. The grade is based 10% on quizzes and 90% on exams (only 3 so be careful), so make sure to attend classes. Closer to exams, she takes class time to go over reviews, answer questions, and genuinely cares about students passing her class. She often gives extra points!
Probably the most interesting classes I've ever taken. Very up-to-date with current events and she helps us a lot by giving us possible content for our papers and good test reviews. 2 papers, 2 test. Recorded lecture that I'm forever grateful for. Wish I had more teachers like her!!!
Only reason I passed this class was because of SI help sessions. Professor goes through material fast and is difficult if you don't already know some ECON. She is really sweet though and encourages participation. She is patient and answers questions and explains well, this was just a difficult class for me.
great caring teacher who make sures you know the content. Records the class online but it is so better if you attend in person. Gives a lot of hints about the exam. Pay close attention to the lectures and take notes. Completion HW and 3 exams.
Fantastic professor! Learned a lot from her class. She's extremely approachable and caring towards all her students. Assignments are graded very fairly. Definitely take her class :)
I had Dr. Ketsler this past year for Macro, and she explained topics comprehensively. She would gladly answer questions and ask students questions to ensure their understanding. While it was sometimes stressful to be called on, she pushed me to grow as a student. Her exams are easy if you attend class, ask questions, and do the review she hands out
I have nothing bad to say about her. Amazing lecturer and very friendly. There is 2 research papers, 7 pages each,1 midterm, and 1 final. She is a lenient grader with the papers which I love because writing is not my forte. Wish we had more professors like her.
Very lecture heavy and short class to understand the concepts, but she goes over them very well to help grasp the idea. She is also accessible outside of class when you need her. There are quizzes but they are a completion grade.
If you take this class and honestly follow the rules, you will get an A+. It is sooo easy. There are 2 research papers that she gives clear outlines for and 2 exams (that her online reviews cover) It is an amazing class, and she is super approachable. Talk to her if you need anything!!! She understands that students have a life outside her class!!
2 big papers, and 2 exams. The exams had very helpful review lectures right before. Also super knowledgeable professor overall
BEST PROF There are 3 tests worth 30% and 10% of HW, and the lectures are very helpful. the PowerPoint notes are useful, and you can go to the SI meetings if u have trouble cause it helps.
She uses a lot of current events to keep the class interesting and always does a review before the tests and ensures there is enough room for questions in between. She is smart, funny, and caring and knows how to strike the balance between informative and engaging. Be sure to work on papers early! Easy A as long as you study the review and slides.
Probably the best professor for Econ 2301. Workload is practically 0. Just study properly for tests (they are a huge percentage of the grade).
Exams aren't too bad. Just be sure to attend class and do a little extra review beforehand. Homeworks are pretty easy. Lectures are good too, and the professor is nice.
Although the exams aren't terribly difficult, it does take a decent amount of effort to understand the concepts if you have not had exposure to them prior. Ensure that you attend class and ask questions.
This professor is pretty great. Workload is manageable, and lectures are super helpful. Just be sure to attend class and use study aids like unstuckstudy to prep for the exams, which are the main focus. Overall, a solid class.
Prolly one of the best econ professors out there, she makes her rules easy and understanding when submitting certain work, and her exams are basically from the review and a little from the homework she gives. If you have a chance to take her class, do it. Trust me bro its a easy credit class if you lock tf in.
This professor was great. She explained problems in a simple way and always did helpful reviews before exams. She gives us a pdf textbook. Quizzes were graded on completion and were useful for studying. She gave extra points on exams. Every Friday, she connected real-world current events to the chapter topics, which made the class more engaging.
Two papers (not a tough grader), two exams, does exam reviews that are just like the exams, simplifies and lets you know what material is necessary to know, no textbook required, very charismatic and the best learning environment I have ever been (literally a breathe of fresh air). Every professor should take notes from Professor Ketsler!!!!!
I highly recommend taking Dr. Ketsler! She is one of my favorite professors at UTD because she is very nice, has clear grading expectations, engaging lectures, and provides a few extra credit points on exams (3-6 points). Make sure to pay attention during lectures because a lot of the answers to exam questions are based on discussions during class
Her lectures were amazing and she answer questions and does extra problems to make sure you understand. Answers emails super fast and always has office hours. 3 unit tests that are just like the homeworks and not bad. Homework quizzes are take home completion grades. She gives extra credit and is super understanding. Overall the best and loved her!
You can really tell that she is very passionate about what she teaches! Before exams, she provides reviews and practice problems that we cover during class, and she also provides a recording of her explanations if you missed class. Not to mention, those reviews and practice problems are almost identical to what is on the exams. Highly recommend!
When I tell you I can't stand economics, but I loved this professor. Believe me. I can't understand econ at all, but I needed the credits. She was so patient and understanding when things came up and I got overwhelmed. She gets distracted at times, but related topics just not that you need to study. She's passionate about econ. She is your best bet
current framework was 2 exams that she describes everything you need to know for and 2 essays that are graded very lightly. super nice and loves to talk to students about current events
Clearly outlines course expectations and is a nice grader. Only homework is two papers that she provides ample time to complete. Tests are reflective of what's taught in class. Attendance isn't mandatory but is helpful. Took her for both ECON3330 and ECON2301 and would recommend her classes to anyone interested in economics.
Extremely easy class because she makes concepts really easy to understand, so just come to lectures. She keeps up with current situations too, so she gives examples of recent events in class, like tariffs and stock prices. Very willing to reexplain anything you want during review sessions.
Amazing professor everything was outlined very clearly and she is always ready to help you succeed!
If you need clear out your 080 core, take 2301 with her. Hands down best professor I had this semester. She really wants to make sure you succeed and learn the material well, a sweet person. She always gives back bonus points after each test (one question worth), and adds a point to your final grade of the entire class, which can help a lot. 11/10.
Professor Luba Ketsler is the BEST PROFESSOR. You can take. She genuinely cared so much about her students, and she taught so well that I was actually engaged in her class. Before each exam, she does a review for 2-3 days, and they are so helpful!!!!! Because of how great a professor she is, you will do wonderfully in this class!!
Easy class where if you show up you won't fail any exams. Professor was very good at explaining the topics in a way that was understandable. Review days were very helpful before each exam. Overall she was always ready to help and honestly cared about your success in the class.
